"facemasks" Discussed on Behind the Bets

"I mean, the amount of pixie has, that's a season's worth. Just give some people some context because it's not exactly fresh in everyone's mind, how many interceptions people typically have who lead the league, right? Yeah, but I am so mad because two weeks ago, somebody told me the bed, and I was like, all right, I'm gonna need 50 to one. Because corners rarely win this award. It's usually pass rushers. And then he was 20 to one. I'm like, come on. He's going to come back to earth. Even if he's this awesome, they're going to not throw to him, right? They're just going to let him be on one side of the field and go to the other. And then he gets a pick and back to back weeks again. It's just insane. And he was 20 to one. I thought that was no value now it's 7 to one to your point. At least going into the weekends. So I'm annoyed at myself, but again, corners don't win this award. It was only a few weeks into the year. I love me some futures and firing on big numbers. We all know that, but at some point you got to draw the line. And to your point, if you watch that good, they probably would stop throwing at it. His PFF grade isn't all that great. He's having a good year, but the interceptions are definitely making it look like he's a great year. But as you always have to wonder what these types of voted on awards is what do the voters look at? And that interception number definitely stands out. Well, it comes with the territory of the cowboys, too, right? They're playing great. They keep winning games. I think that helps if not directly indirectly, right? And the cowboys defensive turnaround parses is going to get tons of buzz for defensive rookie of the year, and he's the sort of the quarterback of that defense, but digs is getting rightfully so he's putting up the numbers. Turnovers are big and obviously that pick 6 was huge in this patriots game. So crazy game, one of many crazy games, I thought the Vikings and Panthers were especially crazy. I lost a bunch live betting the under there because Sam darnold with no timeouts or was it fourth and 20? Down the middle seam pass and then another one on the left side, just remarkable, stupid sequence of events that led to that comeback to force overtime, and then the Vikings get their OT with a touchdown. Yeah, Donald 17 for 41, but then final stretch and regulation. He looked like every bit the player that the jets thought when they were drafting him a couple of years ago, Mike Zimbra, another coach who was too conservative passing up a 54 yard field goal that would have basically ice the game for a punt wasn't a great situation, but I think that the reward of getting three points there is worth more than the risk of losing the 35 yards and giving Carolina better field position. Minnesota has just been a strange team this year. All their games and field goal issues, though. That is true, but I mean, there used to these games come down to the wire with their field goals. Four of their first 6 games have come down to a field goal of the final seconds of regulation, week one, they forced overtime against Cincinnati, then they missed the game winner against the Cardinals or Cardinals are still undefeated. They hit the game winner against the Lions and then they miss this week. So every Vikings game seems to come right down to the wire, no matter who they're playing. Survivor, no hairy situations, like we've had the last few weeks, rams in a blowout, colts and a blowout. Those were the two main ones, even I saw some chiefs, get some get some action, steelers got a little bit as well. That was obviously a hairy situation. Chiefs get the cover. Finally, so now they're four and 13 their last 17, there's something off, man. I mean, mahomes has more picks. He's forcing things. I didn't mean to say that like, hey, I'm just splitting the atom here. And realizing something's off with the chiefs. I can see that we all know this. I'm still dumbfounded, right? Because this is a back to back AFC champ. MVP type player at quarterback and I'm just still kind of dumbfounded, but they are three and three. They have a couple winnable games with the Titans and giants coming up, but they had to work to get there for the double digit win today. Yeah, people talk about the chief the turnovers or the issue with the chiefs as much as the defense, they have 14 turnovers in 6 games this year most in the NFL, at least the defense showed up a little bit in the second half, shut down Washington the second half didn't allow a point. They also kind of threw the ball shorter and got the ball out quicker in the second half. Maybe they found something there with mahomes. Mahomes stats, they were very interesting. Second in total QBR, first in passing touchdowns, third and passing yards, but he's got 9 turnovers in the 6 games and only Trevor Lawrence has more. So I'm not quite sure what to think of this chief's team. As for Washington, they're one in 5 against the spread now, which is the worst mark in the NFL. So Washington had a lot of hype entering this year and they've definitely failed to live up to that. Yeah, I touched on it. It was really what São Paulo Antonio said last year before the playoff game with the bucks that the Washington defense was actually not as strong and stout as everyone wanted to make it out to be. Numbers were skewed by the weak quarterback they were playing within their division, so they played three opponents, total of 6 times, and you're looking at danucci instead of deck, right? You're looking at Carson Wentz, the worst version of him. And then Daniel Jones had some growing pain. So they were getting the best or the worst version of everyone. So it made them skew the numbers and then Brady carves them up and then this year they've been certainly leaky. So this is not this amazing defense, although they obviously have some talent on the pass rush. And no surprise that they're one in 5, obviously with the injury to Fitzpatrick, heineke just too much of a gambler with the ball and obviously the weapons aren't there. So you mentioned Trevor Lawrence, Jags get the outright win. So they're in the wind column. Houston then have won Detroit Owens 6. I think wins will come. I said that a lot when I was giving out my Bengals play because I was on sensi minus three and a half. That was essentially my best bet for SportsCenter that we did a couple times, but packers continue what are they 11 and three straight up and ATS under Rogers in Chicago? Yeah, Rogers. I mean, he said it during the game that he owned Chicago and the stats definitely backed that up like you said 11 and three ATS that soldier field 20 and 7 overall against the bears against the spread 22 and 5 straight up. It's covered 5 straight meetings, and Green Bay is covered 5 straight games since that opening 38 to three laws. So I guess Green Bay might be back. They're 5 and one against the spread this year. And it wasn't just Rogers. I think farm had a ridiculous record against the bears as well. I mean, I'm sure he had good success against any team, but just to have that run. The division rivals got to be painful for bears fans. Hats off to the Raiders. Tumultuous couple weeks here, their coach steps down a lot of hoopla away from the field..

"And what i would like to leave you with is a random fun fact about the chargers. Because i don't want to end on that horrible note of that bad call but one of the cool things that you may not may not have known about. The chargers is that they were the first team to have a colored facemask back in. I believe it was a nineteen seventy-three the The head coach harland sfeir went to the manager said brooks and he said i want a tougher look for our uniforms. Then this powder blue stuff. So that's when they came up with the concept of the navy uniform. They kind of wanted to wanted to look more like the giants and so they designed to blue helmet but the blue wasn't coming through so they invented a way to transparency on the helmet to bring more of the blue out and they didn't like the way the gray facemasks looked with the With the blue helmet and but the great fame facemask was the facemask out there from high school sports. All the way through the pros. Everybody had gray facemasks so they wanted to create this yellow face mask to go at the dark blue helmet and they ended up finding a dentist because none of this sporting equipment companies none of the helmet makers were able to do a color outside of gray so they turned to a dentist named dr done guard who actually painted the reused dental process actually to paint of coat the face masks with the yellow color and then they would end up hand painting him the rest of the way and they were so popular that of course the next year everybody wanted to colored mask and the rest assist so you can also thank your los angeles chargers for colored face masks in the national football league. That'll do it for this. Installment of bolt history remember to stay bolted..

"Here's ol- to unicef even disagrees with that even being the pro-moscow entity that they are the uk as we noted before removed facemask requirements for students in may education secretary gavin williamson said this removing facemasks will hugely improve interactions between teachers and students. While all other school safety measures will remain in place to help. Keep the virus out of classrooms a swedish student. This was crazy. He was kicked out of a class for refusing to take off his mask. This was reported. You can just search this that this kid. He wanted to wear a mask. I guess his parents wanted him to wear masks. I think his parent was actually like american. Because i'm pretty sure this was an international school and he wanted to wear a mask and he was sit home because it was causing distress among other students. This kid wearing a mask could not be more different here in as noted above as well the netherlands only urges mask wayne people. Thirteen in over. So there's no expectation there's no urging whatsoever for kids under the age of thirteen to wear masks also keep in mind. People seem to forget this. That mask-wearing has been a prevalent trend in asia china specifically for years and then obviously did not stop the virus from originating. They're spreading like wildfire there. And maybe it's also worth noting that many people are. The many of the same people mandate amid advocating for these rules are not always following them themselves. We've got examples from lory. Lightfoot gretchen whitmer gavin. Newsom barack obama maria bowser. Nancy pelosi just to name a few. So that's just something to consider even if ask were proven to be super effective. Kids have a very very very small chance of getting anything close to a severe case of kovin..

Once upon a time not long ago at all there was a pair of twins their names were devon and dara and they were just about the least identical twins. You've ever seen devon. Was like a golden retriever. Always happy and excited and tearing around the house with some kind of ball. Dara on the other hand was more like a cat. She kept to herself quiet and suspicious. And if you tried her too hard you might end up with the claws kids. Their mom called from the kitchen commie breakfast. It's getting late. Devin bounded down the stairs in gym shorts. His hair a wild snarl breakfast. He hooted careening into his chair at the table between his parents as soon as he hit the seat he started shoveling scrambled eggs into his mouth. Dara come on dara trudged out of her room already wearing a dreary raincloud expression on her face. She plopped into her seat and started eating her eggs waving her fork. Good morning. do we have any orange juice. Devon asked yeah. I'd like some oj to please. Dara said their mom checked to the fridge and pulled out the bottle shaking it. She saw there wasn't much left. She poured both twins a half a glass and sat back down to her breakfast. Thanks devon said draining his glass in one long gulp. what said dara. It's half empty. Can i have more juice. Sorry honey mom said that's all we had. You had to share dr aside dramatically and left breakfast without touching her juice at all. She got ready for school in her room listening to music and brushing out her hair the juice thing had really soured her mood and she was still upset when they got to school. Luckily the first class of the day was english which she was always a fan of as the class settled into their seats and pulled out their books. The teacher wrote king midas on the board. Today we are reading aloud a short play. Based on the legend of king midas he said mara needs some voices. Let's see some volunteers. Dara and devon both raised their hands. A small part of dr always wanted to be an actress so she was hoping she would get the role of king midas. Unfortunately that went to sam and dara ended up as midas daughter. She stood in her seat. It wasn't fair. I the orange juice. And now this dr aside and sunk low accepting that it was just going to be that kind of day. Her brother wanted to be a greek god but instead he got the role of the donkey he seemed happy enough though and when his line came around he let loose such an impressive haul that the whole class burst out laughing. Even dara had to smile a little bit that day for lunch. It was pete today. They always had cheese. And doris favourite pepperoni. She got in line next to devon in their friends they were talking about a superhero anime and cracking themselves up doing character impressions when they got to the front of the line. Pepperoni please said dara. Who was first up. Sorry just ran out said the cafeteria lady. We got salisbury. Steak peanut butter and jelly and cheese pizza. Of course they were out of pepperoni pizza. It was that kind of day after all all take a cheese shouted.

Dara said their mom shocked to the fridge and pulled out the bottle. Shaking it she saw there wasn't much left. She poured both twins a half a glass and sat back down to her breakfast. Thanks devon said draining his glass in one long gulp. what said dara. It's half empty. Can i have more juice. Sorry honey mom said that's all we had you had to share darci dramatically and left breakfast without touching her juice at all. A small part of dara always wanted to be an actress so she was hoping she would get the role of king midas. Unfortunately that went to sam and dara ended up as midas his daughter. It was that kind of day. After all i'll take a cheese shouted.

Moving With the Absence of Judgment

"Giving talks over zoom. I had my first in person speaking engagement at a local unity church although it was over stimulating for me to be in a room filled with so many people in live music after such a long stretch of peaceful solitude. I somehow managed to maintain composure. And keep my cool. Transitioning back into social events is going to be a gradual exercise for me. I had one event this month. There are two next month and then half a dozen that involves some travel the month after that while some people have anxiety about businesses opening up again distance travel restrictions being lifted and facemasks no longer being a requirement in some areas. There are also many people who are excited to get back out there to socialize and mingle let's be gentle and understanding with one another check with someone if they are open to hugging before assuming that they are and honor. Everyone's comfort level prior to my talk on sunday. The minister said our life. Experience is directly affected by our mythology. This got me thinking about what a difference perspective can make when it comes to our ability to love everyone on the one hand a friend recently told me he believes in our human nature to judge others and that my entire premise of non judgment is therefore idealistic and unrealistic. Wife fight nature. Is my friends. Go to reasoning for humans being so selfish on the other hand. The dalai lama says that love is the absence of judgement. So what's in question is no longer whether or not we can love freely. It is suddenly a discussion about us. Judging compulsively it doesn't matter if loving or judging is in our inherent nature because we aren't concrete and nothing is permanent only fixed above all else it's ultimately in our nature to evolve like all beings so we are not limited restricted or confined by our past. We are shaped but what we decide to do. In the

Why is he wearing a face mask? And the answer Woz. He's trying to be a patriot. He's trying to be patriotic. By showing America There's no big deal to wear face masks. Yes, but you're not even following your own CDC advice. You've been immunized. You're outdoors. You're by yourself. Why the hell are you wearing a face mask? What kind of message is that? Sending He tells me that you don't believe your own CDC. Of course, he doesn't believe them for a whole list of different reasons that you were. I don't believe him. Then you get stories like this. Here's the story for The New York Times. Reaching herd immunity. Unlikely in the U. S experts now believe How long were we told? Well, if we could just get 50% or 60%, or 70% of the population to get get immunized, we can get to herd immunity. Now they're saying we're not going to get there. Story says early in the pandemic. When vaccines for the Corona virus was still just a glimmer on the horizon. The term herd immunity came to signify the end game. The point with enough Americans would be protected from the virus. So that we could be read of the pathogen and reclaim our lives. But now they're going to tell us we can't be rid of the pathogen. Now more than half of adults in United States have been inoculated. With the least one dose of the vaccine. But daily vaccination racer slipping And there's widespread consensus among scientists in public health experts that the herd immunity threshold. He is not attainable. At least not for the foreseeable future, and perhaps not ever. Instead, they're coming to the conclusion that rather than making a long promised exit, the virus will most likely become a manageable threat that will continue to circulate in United States for years to come. Still causing hospitalizations and deaths, but in much smaller numbers. In other words, the flow It's the steak and flow. How much smaller is uncertain? And depends in part on how much of the nation in the world becomes vaccinated and how the Corona virus evolves is already clear, however, that the virus is changing too quickly. New variants of spreading too easily. Vaccination is proceeding too slowly for herd immunity to be within reach any time soon. All right, no herd immunity, huh? Says, continued immunizations, especially for people in highest works because of age exposure. According to Rustom on Tier, an evolutionary biologist at Emory University in Atlanta. The virus is unlikely to go away, but we but we want to do all that we can Check that is likely to become a mild infection. Another. Back to talking about No, no herd immunity. Get your shots. Every here. They're getting is on that train getting us ready for that train. And you know what I think I heard was a Fauci. They was vouching down talking about wearing mask in the 2022. And before I let you go, President Trump is anything but heard from him. Well, publicly, at least not, you know, in this our not so far. I mean, we're accustomed to hearing Trump a lot about his thoughts using social media. But as we know, his accounts have been frozen, so we don't know what he's thinking. We do know that he had an event today to give the medal of freedom to three golfers. That's the nation's highest civilian honor. In normal times. Actually, reporters would have been there to see him give out the award. But obviously these are not normal times. That's NPR. White House correspondent Franco during his Thank you for your time. Thank you. Yesterday's riots at the U. S Capitol and President Trump's behavior before and after are making some of his supporters uncomfortable. We spoke with Trump voters across the country to get their take on yesterday's tumultuous events, and MPR's Toby A. We have trump flags here, too. Can't pull it out, though it's it's got some swears on it. Yeah, but as much as he's four Trump Manson says he's against what Trump supporters did yesterday at the capital. They should have never done that. It's like it's making Trump look like a bad person, and he's really not. They made him look bad. Manson credits the president for eventually encouraging writers to leave the capital and go home.
