But i don't necessarily think that's the case. I just think that people have the right to choose who they want to be. And i think this generation is more open minded to it. Which i can say i. I do. So we've got three rockstars on sort of took tell us what they thought and their big takeaways. I've got a couple of. I always walk away with two or three pages of notes. I am a What we call resource team recruiter for edward jones for financial advisers on my actually support on our Regional recruiting teams with sourcing and a variety of other support functions and is one of the main things that i do And i have ever done about seven years now. So i'm based out of saint louis missouri by. We have a lot of members a lot of members in saint. Louis yeah so you know. I thought it was really very informational today. I enjoyed all of the people who shared specifically i really enjoyed listening to and learning about Intelligence and sourcing. Am i think that that competitive intel is really important right now especially in our industry. being You know kept up to date on what's going on so that we can you know be able to have that competitive edge when we're talking to candidates And so. I was really really appreciative of information that i got from the speaker In regards to You know some different ways to Get that intel so That was probably the thing i enjoyed today could stuff. Yeah that seem to be pretty concept throughout the meeting today. so Josh you're event health tesla device Did you have a big takeaway today. Big aha moment. yes. Also we've been through a couple of changes and sourcing team of about three five people As right now so for me the takeaway again was marketing seis In reason why. I say that is because i'm seeing more and more meetings with ceo's Ceo's v he's can what else can you do. Recruitment what else can you do. We've pulled out all of the sauce. I had never seen the level rate fro from our leaders in our team members of the hardware the they are doing record hiring in. It's not enough right. So i want to give them the already know but maybe not you know are comfortable with will. Yes everybody else's pay more in by the way it's not just down the street on competing with every single state in the united states here so yeah maybe california new york not as much taxes for sure so having the ability to have those intelligence marketing sites and being able to effectively communicate that i feel like is missing for me right now and and so. That's what reservoir resonated with me visit is definitely right now getting harder to source talent. And so far. I hear samantha. Judge saying is. We need more intelligence in order to town. Now tandy bring us home are you. Are you going to say it's market intelligence. You gonna tell us. There was a different aha moment for you of different takeaway agree with josh answer. Mantha i do have different takeaway. So what does a little bit but how long you been there and what you do before you jump at all right. Sounds handy pettus. And i'm with optum. And i've been with optum for about four months. Been recruiting and sourcing for twenty three years right. But i've been in this role for about four months. I support the executive recruitment from senior level up to to c. suite level and that's all an optimum health died and so as you may know it requires very niche type of sourcing and And skills to do that role. And i absolutely love it and so what i enjoyed about today. The moment was across collaboration. Because when you're in your space sometimes you can wonder only my world is this is this is just me and so today to hear from others in the space a how we are all having the same experiences and then being get the resources and so i would say my takeaway is where the transparency of the group huge. Soak all that cross collaboration. I think this is a great thing. That's being done here. And then the second thing was not only out of that transparency in cross collaboration but there were resources we all shared and i think each one of us walked away with at least one or two new resources to take back to our teams. So that's how i wrap it up. Yeah well well said. I think for me. It was interesting so market intelligence seems to be more important than ever Across the board. Everyone sort of looking for There's this interest in this one. Stop shop solution There are a number of vendors and services that were mentioned today from market intelligence. But tanzi for me also. A big piece was the number of resources that were shared and there was one specific that i had never heard of that. I think a member from one of our Defense organizations tightlipped about some of that stuff. But i getting named in the name but Trans tech social enterprises communities. They were having a tremendous amount of success. Sourcing with him and connecting with them. When i had never heard of that before And it's this co learning and coworking community for the lgbtq Talent and so that is definitely something that when we're done here i'll be checking out seeing if that's of interest and then checking with the rest of our members to see if they're using anything like that that's good stuff as anything else guys before we sort of Wrap up here now. I mean we're going to get heavy but it's going to be good when we were thinking about having christine on the podcast we sort of were narrowing down like what should we talk about. And we came up with this concept of building family after adverse childhood experiences. This is something that we've had a lot of people reach out to us on our facebook group. If we have not come from a family that modeled the kind of family that we're trying to build and so christine kehoe has written about this subject and lived about this subject and she's going to talk to us about it today. Christine tell us a little bit about your own story. Yeah well let me. Just say i that i am so amazed and happy. I don't know if that's the right word. But i am happy that the conversations are happening in your community. I mean i think it's something so many people are wrestling with and i'll say personally that so. I grew up in the boston area. Family of immigrants one of seven kids not a lot of money. It was very stressful. And there were a lot of other things going on a lot of chaos and yeah it was really really hard and you know my siblings nitrous slogged through it but it wasn't until two years ago at aged forty five which is crazy to me that i actually learned that there is a name for what i experienced adverse childhood experiences. I was working on a project in partnership with the cdc injury center and the american academy of pediatrics. And i remember sitting in this briefing meeting learning about isis..

"If you're the same mo that's okay you can take steps forward to be better but if you're an even an eye oda better because you learn one simple little nugget of information or skill then that's you need to compare yourself that you have stepped forward confident. People don't waste time by sizing people up and worrying about whether or not they measure up to other people's versions of what they think they should be. They're worried about what they think of themselves. And how they can get their stuff done in. I think in that Had that believed that everyone has something to offer a. Does it leads right into the next one is it helps them in conflict management. Now i don't think they go around avoiding conflict at all costs. I think what they do is when it comes to conflict. Is they learn. They have learned to manage it effectively. Now they're not going along to get along. Don't get me wrong. don't get it twisted year. Right i think it's more like they realized that he no tough conversations and conflict. Yeah they're part of life they cannot be avoided and if you avoid them you really cheating yourself so do not go along to get along. Have those difficult conversations usually. I think what happens is we. We lead them we. We inflate demon our minds and when we begin to have the conversation it might be a little unpleasant. It might be a little challenging. At first but i generally find that. It's never is difficult to think it's going to be in for the last two. I want to leave you with. Is you know. I've find that are successful. Men and women out there confident men and women out. There do not let the lack of resources become an impediment. Nope i think are confident. Folks aren't thrown off course just because they don't have the right amount of money they don't have the right tatler they don't have any staff to get the things done they want to get done. They either find a way to get what they need or they figure out how to get stuff done without it. There are always ways around things. Bartering it in these folks here I don't think the goal and say okay. I'm going to borrow this money and get into self into a mountain of debt. Because i think that's a confident action right. They figure out ways to get it done without the resources that others might say. They need until they're able to gather those resources and continue moving forward with them and as a result of that they don't get too comfortable and if you think about it and i've mentioned this before i think being comfortable. Yeah that is the. That's the opposite. The mortal enemy you could say of gold achievement right comfort. These complacency complacency leads to stagnation. Stagnation is not your friend. When it comes to getting your goals accomplished your dreams and desires turned into reality when you start feeling comfortable. Take that as a huge red flag. Think think think think think think there's something going on in start pushing right. You've heard me talk about this kind of lean out into your uncomfortable. Lean out of your comfort zone and start pressing those boundaries so that you can continue to grow as internally as well as externally and always remember a little discomfort is a good thing right exercise those muscles mental and physical. That's when they grow when you don't they begin to atrophy all right my darker and family so wrapped up another week now before i let you go when remind you. "Well depends who you ask on another episode following the deadly storming of the capital of in condemned the violence he went on to say that he and the other seventy four million trump voters are not part of a violent group and he questioned who caused the violence. Even though evans showed trump supporters carrying out the capital riots cumulus has local programming through four hundred sixteen owned and operated stations across eighty-six markets. Along with eight thousand affiliated stations through westwood one according to its website. Wow they only have four hundred and sixteen stations left. They may not be the number one radio owner anymore. Because i'm pretty sure that used to have like two thousand so they've obviously sold a lot of them. Returning to this remark from levin i also condemn the violence. But i can't help but notice the contrast between what he said and what we said about it. We were hoping that they would burn down the capitol building. I you know would have warmed my heart. If they had i wouldn't advocates specifically something like that this to happen but if it did happen. I can't say i'd feel bad about not feel great about it so i just wanted to call attention to that contrast yeah cumulus. I am curious to see who the number one station owner is. These days and for business insider say cumulus has local programming through those stations. And that's not entirely accurate. A lot of these companies. They barely even have like one guy running three radio stations anymore. Like there's hardly anyone left monday programming directors. I mean here the staff at the stations. I mean it's they. Prior to two thousand and twenty. They were already down to skeleton crews in some markets where was like one program directors running four radio stations. That can't be good for their mental health. In the old days like way back two or three decades ago they would have one program director for each radio station. The job of the program director is to listen to the station to make sure there's not some stuff going on the air right like you don't want to have things going wrong if dead air you need to know about it. The program director needs to hear what the jocks are saying on the music station to know if they're getting things right or wrong or whatever right like you to pay attention. You can't do that to four radio stations at once. You just can't do it so there. They've asked these humans to take on additional responsibilities on top of responsibilities and then in two thousand twenty they went and they axed half the remaining people that were left in. It was already been whittled down for the last two decades. So radio is in even worse shape now than ever before because like with the newspapers last year and television advertisers dried up right. You know why are you going to advertise to people. That won't even leave their homes or or in. Some places can't legally leave their homes. Now this is why amazon stocks exploded. Sure yeah absolutely. He can't leave their homes but they know where to go to look for stuff. Amazon has all of these neat little algorithms. That will target stuff that they're probably going to be interested in without having to use these generic radio ads that i don't want to hear about ad for laundry detergent. What does that matter to me once. Good as the other. I've heard from more than one station. Because against my job to call radio stations during the daytime to pitch them on free talk live. I've heard from more than one station. That advertising dollars are down significantly that it's hard to get existing advertisers to. Let's say they had a contract that they were in in february of last year and then cove it. Hit all these lockdowns happen. How are you going to get the advertiser that was paying you monthly for ads to pay in april. You know they don't have money anymore. there's no there's no customers coming through the door. How are they gonna pay for. I mean even if they wanted to pay for the ads in many cases they could it. So these stations are out all of that revenue and so they had to slash jobs as a result of that so now they have barely anybody working at these stations. Barely any money coming through the door. I think i mean. I don't want to be the bearer bad news here or a negative nasty but just looking at the economics of the situation. Twenty twenty one not going to be a good year for radio station surviving into increasing podcasts presence then or at increasing video presence because those at least don't require that advertising revenue and if they do then you know amazon is happy to put the bill on twitch because they know that it will ultimately come back to them with happy customers who buy whatever six. Cryptocurrency and Domains: Real Estate in Cyber Space
"Was listening. Talk about domain. That how you view them as as real estate in cyberspace almost as well as a fixed asset like you find correlations. They're not to get to deviated from cutting your story but like when you look at bitcoin you see any parallels domains or about digital scarcity only one person can own the word voice on the dot com network so the dot com is like the main chain dot. Edu a secondary chain dot io or or dot org. These are all secondary change but the dot com was the primary domain chain. Only one person own voice. One person can own strategy or wisdom or mike or michael and early on. I was very obvious to me that if you owned domain that people understood that they could spell that they could type. That was a much better idea than having the company which is hard to spell and hard to type like imagine. Misspelling a word today as the name of your company it used to be marketing. Guys would say misspell the word. So it's unique but if you try to type a misspelled word into your browser. The spell checker corrects it. So you gotta like a won't correct voice won't correct mike and it won't correct strategy but it will correct strategy with two is and so you can't name. Your company's strategy with two is a why because you can't type it into the browser. It was very obvious to me back. Then that only one person could own the word wisdom on the dot com work. I and they were dirt cheap so i thought i mean not. I couldn't buy from nineteen bucks. But i could buy it for one hundred thousand dollars and if you had one hundred thousand dollars lying around you could buy the word wisdom well. How many people know demeans couple of billion how many people have been taught for eighteen years to the meaning of wisdom and how to spell with them. So you're talking about there must be two three four billion people on the planet that actually know how to find you. If you're sitting on the wisdom domain so so that was the idea behind domain scarcity relates to bitcoin because bitcoin is about digital scarcity all crypto so bitcoin is the main chain dominant chain. I mean there's a theory and then there's car donna and there's llosa and everything else that falls off it's not unlike dot com is the dot. Edu is dot io is the dot. Tv walk clearly. You want to be on the main chain if you can and you want to own scarcity and so i got excited about it back then. Here's what i thought like. If you have the word voice for the next thousand years voices going to mean voice in the english language and if there's ten billion human beings to learn how to speak english even if they spread all the way across the stars voice is going to be voice. And what's what's great about a brand well if you name your company or your product that thing and if a billion people can hear it in one second remember it spell it type it find it valuable. I mean that's worth a billion dollars to own tone a fundamental word on the main chain. So that's why. I bought them and held them. And eventually i sold voice for thirty million dollars last year. I didn't want to but it's the highest quality ears right. Yeah i did. It's the highest price. Anybody ever paid for naked domain. And i kind of wanted just to create a comp and the market so people would realize these things are valuable so the next one goes for one hundred million and the next one goes for five hundred million and the next goes for a billion. But you're talking about owning the english language. What's that worth just like. Bitcoin is about owning one. Twenty one millionth of everything. There's ever going to be like what's that worth right. If more than twenty one million millionaires. Everyone can own a bitcoin right. The only issue is is is dot com the main chain and is bitcoin. The main blockchain right. And what makes it the main one. Well at the fact that everybody uses it. What makes it the main one. And so of a billion people go there first and if they end their conditioned goes to google dot com amazon dot com apple dot com facebookcom numbers going to facebook dot tv so so once you get hundreds of billions or trillions of interactions on a main chain it becomes dominant and that becomes a dominant network. And so i got into that.
