"This is his chance to finally get that two hundred podium before he retires and based on how he's been racing that seems just a little tiny bit farfetched right but it might not be because valet has had some serious mojo at his home track in the past even later in his career at attract. That seemed so many. Different winners valentino. Rossi has the best record of anyone here. Marc marquez included. Same number victories as mark three wins and six podiums. Now it's been a while since he's been on the box but he was only four tenths of a second away from the podium last year one year ago was four tenths of a second way and he finished fourth into the last three misano races heck. He's even qualified really well here later on in his career something. He struggled mightily with this season. But the last time that valet started lower than seventh at san marino was back in two thousand eleven and that was on coty and that was the only time in his entire career since they started racing there in two thousand seven that he started lower than seventh. So this and the other misano race they legitimately are his best last chances. He's at his home track. Eleven awesome helmet every fan. That they let in is going to be pulling for him. Could this be number two hundred. I'm not to sure not terribly confident. But if he makes it happen. The place will absolutely bonkers entire country. We'll go absolutely bonkers next up on. My list is ryder. That's been doing about as well as valentino lately. that's beguel oliveira and things certainly have not been trending his way and i'm assuming that the majority of that has to do with his wrist of far more than he would readily admit to his performance. Dropped off a cliff in the wake of that injury but he was stellar prior to that. And i would imagine that performance is going to start to creep back in although i should probably be aiming more for circuit of the americas after the break a couple of weeks to rest rather than putting him on my list. With a quick turnaround from era gonda macedo but still miguel was fifth. Imerese to here last year and that was after starting fifteenth the grid some going to have a little bit faith in him and say that he's a deep sleeper. Pick to do something interesting in this race and other sleeper. Pick an ahah bassiouny. These surprise finisher for me at least baragan outside of petco. But i mean a win wasn't much of a surprise when it comes to just the battle between him and mark was but best teeny a rookie on a two year old. Do coty didn't just finished sixth but to do that. He had the past race winners. This season like fabio quarrels. And where he martine bread bender and the timing of that performance could not have been better to set him up for a breakthrough race because all of that momentum from oregon could easily carry through to san marino a place where he was fantastic last year emoto to with a win and a third actually that was his final win of the championship run came at san marino and on top of that he was bored just a few miles away from the track so the hometown motivation is going to be huge. And it's the vr forty-six home track as well so on to kati italian writer right next to where he grew up right next to where forty six academy is hill even have special berry berry pink livery for the race in. I don't know what the ceiling is yet for an seaney especially on an old bike and hyper competitive field. But i would not be surprised at all to see him. Step it up again with another career. Best or near career-best mood gp result. So those are the ryder center officially on my watch list but one more that a half dimension that of course is the returning guy andrea of so now. He's not officially on the watchlist. Okay i wanna make that perfectly clear but he is making his return to the motor. Gp grid and his return to a satellite yamaha for the first time since two thousand twelve. The reason i bring him up though. This isn't a bad track for his return. Andre so was one race here in two thousand eighteen. He was on the podium in two thousand seventeen and he's finished top. Five at the semen celli circuit seven times at the motor. Gp level last year. He was just okay finishing seventh or eighth but his average finish last season was six point six nine so those numbers are kinda right in there with what you'd expect from him. I'm not. I'm not taking the overly optimistic gamble on dobie this week that it did a maverick vanilla upon his return at arrogant. But i will certainly be interested to see. How lovie doesn't this race. And i'll be interested to see if his presence on the other petronas bike can somehow sperling valentino rossi as both old guys try to prove to everybody that they've still got a little bit of that magic left to show off in front of their hometown fans so that officially wraps up the writers. We're gonna talk about that. Means there's one more thing to do. The part of dreading ever since the show started net is make picks for race that i think is impossible to pick in a season. That's impossible to pick. But i'm going to give it a go here. A top five finishers spread. This weekend's san marino gp in italy starting theft. Going doctor on this one. Valentine are us and i hope. I hope that i'm wrong here. I hope that what really happens is he gets on the podium and the italian crowd goes absolutely mental jumps over the fences in the walls and floods track now. I'm really not sure that's going to happen. I think i'm being really really optimistic by saying how finish theft but end of his career. Not like we just talked about. Rossi is still always quick here. And if there's any track where that old sunday magic is gonna show up again. This is the one. So i'm going to pick the doctor to finish top five so rossi and fifth in fourth one spot ahead of him his former teammate fabio coiro and not on the podium coming off that lackluster aragon performance tires or not. It's a little bit of a concern so because the field is going to be so competitive. I think it'll be strong but not go out and dominate some not quite chirpy skin land on the podium or not some picking fabio fourth and then on the podium. I'll start with marc marquez. Who's one here three times before and last week. He showed us just how close to the old marquee can be. His is the only question for me with no time off between rounds. So i'm going to put him at the back of the podium in third in second show am mirror. This is good. Track for mir. An suzuki the last weekend i think he would have been able to be close to the leaders. Had he gotten off to a better start if mere wants to make any kind of run at the championship. He's gotta go. he's gotta start right now. he's got to figure out a how to get past fabio quad. Charro am be how to get on the top step of the box. So he's really gotta turn it up. This is a track where he's proven can do it. So i think he will step up but i'm only going to put them in second because the winner for me in this race petco back nyum homefield advantage a ton of momentum and a do khadi that can handle. We've already seem one factory to colorado take two in a row this season. It could happen again here with bag nyas so that's my top. Five for the same reno. Gp and fifth valentino rossi home for fabio quad sharara and on the podium marc marquez joanne. Mir and your winner. Petco back naya..

"And there was no call made at the time. Scotla glue wins. Ray finishes second cal. Asaki whose race manufacturer protests after the race. They look at the video and they say yes. He did indeed go into the green paint and they swapped positions leading to the situation that we have right now. Technically this was the correct call based on the role. You go in the green. You get penalized. it's the same emoji. Gp it was the same. Like i said a moment ago maverick. Fan y'all s who just barely touched the green. But the censors got him. He got penalized some ojep- world superbike same role. Technically by the book. That's the right call. But we've talked about this multiple times before when we've seen positions decided and things like that in mo- gp and in the other series as well. This is the exact situation that ever referred to a few times in the past if there's one area if there is one rule where a judgment call is mandated because usually i like the be very black and white. Let's not leave room for interpretation that way. It's less likely that somebody like fabio quarrel or maverick vanilla gets more leeway in a situation than somebody. Who's a backmarker somebody who's not nearly as famous ryder but if there's one area where i would always say a judgment call is mandated track limits. Is it really because of situations like this. We don't want to see in the end. An entire championship decided by something that in a situation where the green actually had been grass. Very likely would made no difference at all. In the result there would have been. Maybe a brief puff up dirt and that would have been and we've seen that embraces before and we've seen the difference it makes for the rider in front ninety nine times out of one hundred none right. It doesn't hurt their drive at all. And so if there was more leeway there if race direction could look at that tape and say either yup. He exceeded truck limits in a way that gave him an advantage. That wouldn't have normally existed. So we're going to penalize the rider or they could say yes. He technically hit the green paint but in our judgment having been in the situation before being racers ourselves and using our experience we know that in our judgment it wouldn't have made a difference and then there you go one way or the other. We have an explanation. You may not agree with the explanation. But you've got a real explanation. Why the penalty either was or was not handed out and in all honesty. I think that if race direction had said you know what we've looked at this and yes. He touched the green but it would not have made a difference in this race. The kawasaki would have been fine. It would have been fine either way. They were only trying it because they knew that the rule was supposed to be enforced to the letter of the law. In fact i think kawasaki was smart the protest because that rule for better for worse in that particular situation was on their side and they wanna give their rider the best shot of winning the championship. So don't blame. Kawasaki for protesting. I don't think it's bad sportsmanship. I mean would. I have done it. Probably not but. I don't think it's bad sportsmanship on their part. I think that they're trying that hard to win yet. Another title for the ryder and so they want to do everything they can sell in the end. I just hope that the world superbike championship comes down to a greater margin. Then the difference between those two riders in that particular race because it would suck if that penalty decided the entire thing between two incredibly talented an intense riders from two generations by the way that are in the middle of just epic epic battle. I mean whoever wins in that one does not matter to me. I'm just having fun watching. Ray be challenged by somebody stepping up to that challenge and having a championship that could very easily go all the way down to the last round. But i don't want the penalty to be the decider one way or the other. I won't writer to be able to step up and race their way to a championship. And you know just like. I don't blame kawasaki for protesting us. Don't blame race direction for making the call that they did because the rule is the problem. Not the people deciding the role. The rule itself needs to be open to a little bit more interpretation. And i think if it was there would have been a different decision there. And it's probably gonna happen again might happen to motor. Gp and speaking of jonathan ray by the way a dj put up one of his weekly polls and this was a really tough poll. He asked if you would rather see on a factory backed in a patrol slash surtees slashed with you wherever they're gonna call it yamaha on a settler yamaha that factory specs and backed by the factory. Would you rather see andrea video so on that bike or jonathan ray. I know that's not easy. I tried to vote for both but it wouldn't let me click both the buttons at the same time so for me out of curiosity i had to vote for johnny ray on this one and he had a slight majority of the vote when i cast mine and for me you know. It's just because i'd be very interested to see exactly how he would do and what he would do with that opportunity. When we've already seen andre video so before because you know that right will be ultra motivated to show everybody after all those championships in everybody accusing him of being afraid to go to motor. Gp you know that he would be super super motivated to prove all those people wrong. And while i'm certainly excited to see doe v on that bike. He had nearly as much to prove because he's already done a lot right. So i would love to see ray on that bike but hey you know what they have to bikes so i say let's make it happen. Let's put the old guys team back together and have ray and andre. Co so on the petronas sr type of bike for next year W of course is gonna be the one on the amaha and just like a couple of people weren't too convinced about maverick fan. Y'all is going to affiliate how that's going to work out. Guy on two wheels isn't so sure about the idea of dove e- being on this yamaha. He's happy to be back on track but what he's nervous about is that we're going to end up. Basically seeing valentino rossi part. He didn't really say that. But i think that's what you're getting at you know with andrea struggling to finish top ten because there are so many more talented young riders on the grid than there were when.

"Battling he's not so. I think that we've only started to see what gusto fernandez is capable of once he gets to this. Ktm squad if there is real long term potential. There it's going to start the show and it really is an opportunity. I think for fernandez take off here. Not that they have a place to put either rider. If these guys do take off. But still i mean if you. Kate's him the problem. You want to have too much talent. As opposed to not enough you want to be able to let martine go am regretted a little but know that you've got pedro cost and every single fernandez who's talented waiting-in-the-wings behind him. Just in case. I'm now the fernandez move opens up the spot. Of course it marked. Dds that's going to be filled next season by tony marino. Now don't think that's a bad option for either side of this equation. Arellano has been a little bit slow to adjust to moto too. Because like i mentioned earlier it is a pretty big jump. But he's an aggressive rider. He's got potential and now he's going to get the opportunity to race alongside sam. Lowes next year. So i think it's going to be beneficial for his development with a good baseline to aim for with lows. And who knows this could be the change that really shakes him out of his funk to start his motoo career so that's what. ktm is up to grabbing as much talent as a possibly can to line guys up for right now. Non-existent motor gp rides. Let's move on from there before we talk about. Aragon to some of your comments and i want to start with knee dragon. Who mentioned deejays post for the one thousand ninety eight subscriber on the right at sub- with his streetfighter. Ten ninety eight and he said hey. Wait a minute. What about the regular ten ninetieths. You have no love for those heck. Yeah we do. I don't think you're gonna find many detractors around these parts of the iconic superbike version of the ten ninety eight. Oh and by the way. Dj all supposed to pick that. We're going to talk about coming up in a little bit. That could have been a stand in for the eleven hundred subscriber except we've already exceeded eleven hundred subscribers on read it and if you haven't subscribed yet you should do it and not because i get anything for it. I don't But we're just trying to build the biggest community of motorcycle enthusiasts embracing fans as we can and we'd love to have you join the conversation so if you haven't subscribed to read it yet go ahead and do it and if you arm jump over to the sub and subscribe over there and by the way Dj when we get to your picture. We're going to call that the honorary photo for the eleven hundred subscribers. Since i believe that casting eleven hundred. Cc motor and it's a heck of a lot more interesting than the eleven hundred c bike. That i've got in the garage and the pictures look way better to all right. So let's move on from there to a little bit of talk about maverick fan. Y'all s who of course is going to be making his affiliate debut this weekend and arrogant and of course he did the test last week. For a pro and chucky katie said that she thought that this was a very interesting situation for mavericks specifically his mental state heading into this new situation and how relieved he seems to be making the switch to be debuting on the brand new bike despite the fact that there are shortcomings with the appropriate. When you compare it to the omaha it says the fact that he is so happy moving backwards for all intents and purposes really says something about how unhappy he was at apprecia- and she related it to you know being stuck in a job you really don't like and you're just looking for a way out. You're not even sure if the way out is the right thing or not. But it's just better than the situation that you're in and i think that's a very interesting point because it was a few weeks ago that we were talking about riders relating to us non moto. Gp writers and i believe it was chunky. Kitty that brought this up if not then it was somebody else over. Read it and this may actually be one way that mo- gp riders can relate to everyday people like you and me even if they don't actually know they're relating to us because the majority of us let's face it have been in that position. We've been maverick than y'all is searching desperately for our apprecia- to take us away from that work situation that we really don't like and i think you're right to say that that's not accusatory of one side or the other necessarily sometimes things just don't work out sometimes get along with your boss or your job or which have to do so you move to a different place in. You're super excited to get that started but every new job. This one included for maverick vanzella's does have that honeymoon period and we will find out if it really is. A particular feeling is looking for or if the results matter most because he'll be tested on the result side for sure and we're all gonna find out together maverick included if the grass really greener and what he's going to do if it's not and like eddie reminded us over on facebook. It's really easy to forget with all of this excitement surrounding the midseason switch and all the drama with yamaha and the now are probably involved. The vanilla is is still a rider very much in the mold of lorenzo that has to have everything lined up perfectly for him to really perform. Well it doesn't take much to knock him off balance and because of that. That's why people like ben on facebook in a couple of people read it arm really convinced at this point they think there is a chance of things may spiral quickly out of control without that performance without that right bike under. Maverick straight out of the gate. So that's why. I'm excited to see what's going to happen this weekend. It's an interesting story. That's only going to get interesting. Are if that's a word and i'm going to say it is but keep in mind that i know that we're all really condition now for things to happen really quickly in the world of motor. Gp where a couple of years ago you'd have a contract announcement and you had to wait until the next season to see that ride on the bike. How we've even had contracts announced an entire year before the ryder actually going to get off the bike and switch now. It's like what a matter of weeks that somebody dumps one manufacturer and his signed on for another. This maverick fan. Y'all israeli situation is not going to play out entirely at aragon. It's just the beginning. In fact if the bike doesn't perform matvey is going to be patient with the season. I think we could get all the way until maybe the midpoint of next year if things are still going poorly where we start to see the frustration set in in the comments. Start and things like that. That's a lot of time for both rider and bike to get themselves sorted out and moving in the right direction. So don't expect to pay off when it comes to what is going to do on the apprecia- this weekend and don't take what happens. This weekend is necessarily representative of. What's gonna happen long-term with maverick on that bike. And you want a perfect example of that. Think about fabio quarrel last year on the yamaha and fabio yaro this year on the omaha. That's how quickly things can change from being dismal and wanting to leave to being on top of the entire world championship but now let's transition briefly from the motor. gp world championship to world superbike. Because a little bit of drama over the weekend and magna core jonathan ray to- procr- scotla glue separated by just seven points in the championship. After a very controversial post-race protest and track limits call penalizing ruts galileo gloom. We are gonna talk about that penalty in a minute but the reason that it was all brought up in the first place is because captain booby over. Read it. I love that screen name by the wedge slough saying captain poopie put up some screen shots of one of the more exciting moments of the race. That did not involve tope rocker. Ray or the penalty but instead andrei alaka tally inadvertently making contact with michael vandermark. Front brake lever on the front stretch. And when you see that second shot it becomes apparent that seconds still frame it becomes apparent. Just how epic that save was by vandermark. In real time. It happened so quickly that it just kind of seemed like a little bit of smoke coming out of the frontier. And that was it in those screen. Shots i mean. Vandermark was full wrecking. Hell gathered it up in the split. Second that don't ask me. Because i don't know i know where i would have been. I would have been over there in the grass somewhere. Had that happened after flying through the air. But let's get back to the penalty with ray and what scotla glue do wanna talk about that for. A minute happened the super bowl. They're all over the place and how close it was for red. Scott leo glue vary very similar by the way to the track limits penalty. That maverick daniela's got earlier this season. And for those who didn't see it ray. What's got leo. Glue racing desperately for i and of course a critical race like i said they're only separated by seven points now Emerald scotla glue went just a little wide little.

"Better strategy a lot of competition and insane qualifying tyres but the downside is it also leads to insane. Rnd costs an potentially safety issues as each manufacturer pushes the edge. More more to try to outdo the other one. And i think the safety issue is more prominent. Now a motor gp but especially the cost issue is a big. They're trying to reduce costs not increase themselves. I'm not sure that the manufacturers would go back down that road for the same reason. I don't necessarily think they will go back down the open issue road as well because the rnd costs just balloon out of control. But that being said. I do think there is room for improvement here. And not just in terms of consistency. I think there's room for michelin to offer a wider variety of tires. Because right now they do hold tire tests. But they're really more focused on verifying safety and really confirming that one tire. One set of tyres isn't completely out in left field as opposed to picking an assortment of tires that will work for different manufacturers so instead of a straight soft medium hard compound based on track temperature. Because really. that's what those compounds are. Most reliant on is the temperature of the track and self taught every manufacturers khanna locked into that hard tire if it's cooler every manufacturers locked into that soft tire and if it's somewhere in between of course the medium instead of really the weather in the track conditions dictating everybody using almost the same tire exclusively. I'd rather see compounds. Geared towards different applications. You know focusing on things like edge grip in rear-drive and hard front breaking addressing characteristics more so than just temperature range something that would give teams more choices to suit their particular bike or riders characteristics without ripping the lid off on specialized tires and testing. So they could accomplish that by instead of bringing one set of tires to the track bringing two or three and yes that would increase the cost for michelin. It would increase the are in d for teams but only to a certain extent far less than having multiple tire manufacturers and what that leads to. So yeah i think. I think i mentioned this before at some point on the program that i think that michelin really needs to kind of expand their horizons a little bit and instead of just going with soft medium hard trying to do some specialized compounds that would help woman you factor or another bitches make even you know. Give everybody something that they can use if they choose to use it and they can really work out and testing what would be the best combination for their bike. All right let's move on. From what happened in silverstone to what's about to happen this weekend. Aragon with the return of maverick. Y'all as a criminal to posted a couple of picks of maverick on the appropriate getting fitted up for the bike and misano. Then there's also a short video that can check out at motogp dot com which you can watch for free. Even if you don't have video pass along with short and very vague assessment by romano abyssinia. No obviously everybody was happy and positive about it. That's why he's going to ride this weekend. and it's kind of interesting that album ciano right off. The bat did say that things went really well because they kinda played it. Close to the vest with andrei ceo. So and it turned out that's because he wasn't getting along with the bikes so much. So romano said it was positive he bingo too far. He was kind of general with this assessment. Does that mean that math was maybe hot and cold on the bike. I don't think so. And i'm sure we'll get a much better picture and have some concrete answers once we do see him on the bike this weekend but like any new writer on a brand new bike wouldn't necessarily expect the world but what should we expect. Well that's what care. Cb are was wondering over on it. Asking ken maverick than y'all is really truly accelerate noting. How much shorter and lighter. Maverick is aleisha. Spa grow and knowing that bike was built for allies to take advantage of it. How might that affect maverick. Like can you get on the bike and do all right away or could lead to another circle and cycle of frustration on the thing where things in this case that i would say are working for maverick in the situation. Apprently as main test rider. This year has been andre the video its yo so the aforementioned andrea who's far closer to maverick in size so i think that helps a little bit. I think that maybe some of the things that andrea will would be the same types of things that maverick would say need to be addressed as well and then the second thing that i think is working to. His advantage is the fact that venezuela's is smaller than ally as opposed to bigger and. It seems that it's easier to adjust to bike to a smaller rider than it is to adjust it to a bigger one. Just ask danilo petrucci about that But pesca potter also mentioned on the throttle style. That ally said that he's had to adopt take full advantage of the horsepower available to the appropriate. Its current form which isn't enough horsepower. So he's got to get on the throttle early early a pesky podcast says that's something that is going to be more difficult for maverick to adjust to. I think it will be for sure now. Of course they do have a new engine on the way to an appropriate might be able to squash that potential. Hang up pretty quickly by getting maverick. That new power plant as soon as they possibly can but it will be interesting either way to see how maverick apps and how quickly he adapts to the new bike because it's definitely not going to be as good on paper as the yamaha that he stepped away from and for a writer that hasn't shown the greatest amount of patients in the past. I don't know month or so s- going to be a pretty big challenge for him. Of course we're gonna find out next weekend. Exactly how well he's going to be able to step up to that challenge super excited for this era gombe round. I'm okay Couple of other things to talk about kobe's posted a link to a chart where he's been keeping stats for facebook group motogp supporters essay. I hadn't heard of them. But i certainly am gonna join if you guys will have me And i love that chart not just because it's all about numbers. Although the numbers are a big part of it. I love numbers but that it makes it really easy to see how consistency is once again playing a pivotal role in the championship. And you can see that chart without having to go all the way to facebook if you don't want to i believe he's posted on reddit and that chart spells it up pretty clearly when you look at. Just how linear of a slope. It is for fabio charro. How is points consistently keep going up but at the same time how so. Many of the other riders lines below him have converged while guys like joy mirror. Brad bender have trended a little bit upwards others like jack miller and petco back. Ni- have really flattened out so while those guys are basically sharing points by interchanging with one another the open space in the graph between fabio quarrels line and everybody else's keeps getting bigger and bigger says a really great chart. I think it really spells out in very simple terms. What fabrio has been able to do that. Nobody else has done this season. And then moving on the dj. Yes i am going on vacation this weekend and i apologize by the way that the shows that day late. I'm kind of moving into this new role at this new job. And i had to work really really late on wednesday night so i didn't have time to record the show and i am going away tomorrow and dj. I wish i was headed for four days in the beatha partying it. Up with mark valentino. There's a party you know andrea nana is going to be there to know. Take me half the time just to get there and then turn around and come right back. There will be beach involved with my weekend for sure but nothing nearly as exotic. It'd be and the dj's poll this week the best type of victory celebration personally. I'm a traditional guy when it comes to celebrating win i think a huge stand up whealy completely rolls. The remmy gardner did do a pretty bad ass burnout. After his moto to win in silverstone. And that's very cool because you don't get the burnouts very often so that one's pretty high on my list as well all right. So let's wrap up the program with some picks and video posted on reddit over the past few days. We'll start with med bay. Seventeen three whose fiancee was making us. All look bad totally tearing it up at the track with her ninja. Three hundred and you may donuts. I'm going to the track with you. You know how to do it. Donuts the morning maybe a couple of cold ones at the end of the day after you're done on track and we'll be like the perfect of course in my world what you experienced. Maybe it will be the exact opposite. My other half wouldn't wanna get anywhere near the bike. But she would definitely love hanging out with the tail wagging pit crew. In fact i showed.

"All available corner speed and grip and it provides just as many places to get the back end out of shape as it does to lose the front so you have to temper your aggression which is probably why someone like. Cow crutch. slow doesn't consider this to be his favourite british track but it sure is a lot of fun to watch so that's where they're racing this weekend. Now let's talk about the riders particularly the favorites. The people i think have the best shot at competing for a podium and maybe taking the women this one and we're gonna start our favorites list this week with bobbio charro now. Fabio doesn't have a whole lot of moto. Gpa experience at silverstone and that's the theme that's going to carry through to a lot of the writers we talk about buddy goes triple for fabio because on motogp bike race. He's made it through a grand total of one corner that was back in two thousand nineteen and it was that wild crash that saw andrea. Also use fabulous. Bike is a sweet jump which was exciting to watch. but it didn't work out for either of them when it came to more results on. Fob you dig qualified fourth that weekend. And he was fastest an f. p. one f p two f. p. three and warm up the session. He wasn't fast. This was f. p. Four in that when he was second to marquez and that was as a rookie on a satellite petronas spike is a much better writer. Now he's on a much better bike to boot. You then toss in the fact that he's run well every single round the season even in the racist where the results don't make it. Look that way am. Fabio is one of the writers to beat this weekend. That being said it's racist slam dunk. It's essentially for him like learning a new track and however much he doesn't want to think about it the championship is going to start to linger in the back of his mind and that increases the chances that either takes too many risks or too few so even though he's capable of going out there and winning it a lot of factors at play that could prevent him on one side or the other now in exactly the opposite position. The fabio is marquez. Who has absolutely nothing to lose in this race and everything to gain by taking whatever risks are necessary to get on the podium and go after a win. Austria showed us once again. That mark is getting stronger and more capable of running near the front of races round by round and even though things went kinda sideways for him in the rain in the last race he's going to be bringing a lot of confidence into this one especially with another week to rest and recover even further and while this isn't marks best track you kind of have to take that idea in perspective because mark is one of only three riders on the grid to actually one emoji. Gp race at silverstone. He's got three podiums here and he was third in the last race that was run so even quote unquote not as best is still better than pretty much anyone else. So the farther removed. He is from his injury. The more promising he looks. And i can't imagine marquez won't find a way to factor into this race even if arrogant is his next real target because he is absolutely out of this world good when it comes to aragon next ryder up the favorites list joanne mirror. And i'm taking a little bit of a flyer here on. Show him being in the favorites category. But i think i can make the argument We'll start on the bad side. The bad news here is that mere has never raced at silverstone emoji. Gp he was injured in two thousand nineteen. The two thousand eighteen race was cancelled along. With of course the twenty twenty race so the last time that zhou amir raced in silverstone was two thousand seventeen and that was moto three. Not even motoo so. He's a complete unknown. When it comes to the premier class at this track but suzuki is not they have a win. In two of the last three mo- gp races run here with alex. Rinse two thousand. Nineteen and the maverick daniela's in two thousand seventeen and we saw in austria that their new ride height device gave them a big competitive and a big motivational boost particularly for mir. And that's something. He'll be able to utilize again this weekend. I think now wins of course won the last race here but with him. Struggling and mir running really well over the past. Couple of rounds. I'm going to go joanne as zouqi. I'm betting on to make a run at the podium. Come sunday on. Next up on the list. Is jack miller in this is another rider. Who doesn't have a whole lot of history here to build on although it does have a fair amount of wrecks at silverstone Jack's only premier class points finish was an eighth here. It was in the last race was run that was in two thousand nineteen. And he's coming into this one after two shockingly bad results in austria but there are multiple reasons to think that he could break out this weekend. Get back on track and get far better. Finish first and foremost is where jack has run. Well the season his best racists have been harassed lama and catalonia all of which are far closer infield to silverstone than a place like the rebel ring is where he was struggling. A miller spin able to make the dakota handle. And he's going to get the chance to do it again this weekend. And don't forget that a couple of races go couple of british cheese ago andrea co so. Prove that a coty can win at this track and that was a bike that didn't go round corners. Nearly as well as the current one does. So i look for a bounceback from jack in the podium contention and he's going to be super motivated to run well especially considering how austria went because didn't go like he ordered to. Kati wanted it to then. The final rider on my favorite's list this weekend brad bender. And i know you're thinking. Oh you just picked him because he won last weekend and yeah kind of them especially since he got there. More by cunning and rain prowess than by all out speed. But he's also the healthiest casey writer on a bike right now and the one that has the most momentum and the most confidence coming into this round kitty and hasn't really been able to test themselves consistently and silverstone because of all of the schedule interruptions. But they were getting better with paul spago and of course. They've made quite a leap in performance. Since that point so i would be surprised if at least one. Ktm rider if not more than one. Didn't jump up into contention at some point in this race and with bender having podium here motoo to emoto three think he's got a shot to complete that trifecta and collect silverstone podium in the premier class heart so those are the favorites so sorta writers that. I have the best shot of winning coming into this weekend. But they're not the only ones. I'll be keeping my eye out on the next list. The watchlist are guys who i think have a legitimate shot finishing in the top five and maybe making a push for the podium if they have a good day and we'll start out by talking about alex. Rinse the last time that moto. Gp ram at silverstone ruins one in one of the most stunning last corner passes in the motor gp era surprising marc marquez in a drag race to the flag and that should normally would make him one of the favorites coming into this weekend and i struggled with this one because he's kind of on my favorite's list in my mind but i couldn't officially put him there because he's just been stuck in between the season hasn't been qualifying well and then sometimes he does a good job overcoming that poor qualifying moving up and other times he just can't find his way through and the injury few weeks back didn't help matters at all either but with his success here silverstone does present the opportunity for alex rinse to break out of his slump get a season back on the right track so while i do expect better performance out of him. I'm not quite sure if it's going to be enough for the podium yet. I will say this though. Alex if you wanna put on another two thousand nineteen like show for us. I'm all in. Let's get it going. Pick your guy who went to chase down and give us an exciting finish Next up on the list is petco back. Naya back is kind of the opposite case as rinse. He doesn't have much of anything at all. In terms of results to lean on at silverstone just alone podium back in two thousand sixteen in moto three but this season he hasn't struggled at all. I think he's looked excellent. All things considered yeah. There was a little stumbling stereo. But he came back strong in the austrian. Gp looking fantastic in both the dry and the wet showing the best speed of any of the dakotas and now that he's moved himself up the second in the championship. I think petco is going to be ultra motivated to try to make up ground on. Fabio quarrel not an easy task and without those southeast asian rounds to lean on for their advantage..

"Now go out there and do it again now. Moving on to grow sundays podium. He said was like a victory. And i'd agree. He was fast. He avoided mistakes. He actually increased his lead in the championship. He did everything he needed to do. And more importantly he didn't falter mean if this was his bad race while he's still in pretty good shape now. Fabio says his goal for this weekend is to modify his writing style a little bit to suit the tires and the track. Maybe make things more efficient. Although he admits that he's thinking podium in this one more than maybe he should hang out with martine But another podium. I think would be a phenomenal effort and it would accomplish the goal of losing as little as possible eddie decidedly. Do khadi and now. Ktm track. I think he'll have more competition in this one. Because jack and petco aren't going to go away quietly this time around and he's going to have the ktm's to deal with as well so it's gonna be a hard race for him but again if he could just kind of hang with the guys in the top five or six. He's guaranteed to leave austria with the point lead and that is going to be big momentum boost going forward then the final rider on my favorite's list for this week brad bender. He had yet another phenomenal late race. Comeback last weekend starting sixteenth finishing fourth now. He said that last weekend the frontier was the source of his struggles. He couldn't lean on it and breaking without overheating it on at the end of race when he finally got some clean air cooled off the frontier allowed him to push a little bit harder and so he got into the top five but with that harder option metric tire available this week exactly the formula that works best for him and the bike brad instantly has a chance to get on the podium and qualified better for that matter to and based on what we saw last weekend if even starts somewhere in the first three rows even at the back of the first three rows he will easily be within striking distance of the podium. You know with. Miguel olivera clearly. Still struggling with an injured hand brad. Now take selena. Ktm and he is definitely capable of getting them on the box. So those are my favorites writers. I think have the best chance of finishing on the podium and competing for a win but there's some other writers. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for this weekend. That i think a pretty good chance of finishing somewhere in the top five area. They might even be able to make a play for the podium starting with johann zarco and even though he easily bested the factory to cadiz last sunday circuit just wasn't able to put things together like his teammate. And as a result he ended the race exactly where he started in six. Now the good news for this weekend is that he is capable of qualifying better than that six that he laid down race one and seeing another bike whim is definitely going to motivate him to go out and grabs zhijie gelinas attention himself just like corey. Martine did last week about his experience. I think should have helped him be a little bit stronger at the end of the last race and not get passed by bender so a little bit more hesitant about sarko than it was one week ago in. The same is true for mark marquess. He looked pretty racy before the red flag although he had already started to trail off a little bit before the rack but he really struggled a little bit more after the race was restarted and he looked a little bit out of control. The entire time. I mean mark is an aggressive writer but usually not that aggressive and it not only led to the well-publicized contact with allied spargo twice but he also made multiple mistakes that prevented him from making lasting headway through the field. Later in this one. I think once again that may be his mind was a bit more ambitious than his shoulder and his arm was capable of and that makes me nervous about his chances for race to but if he rides cleaner and smarter mark is capable of being near the front. For sure. i'm talking. Nakagomi quietly had an excellent race. Last weekend he started tenth finished fifth and just missed out on fourth in those final few turns courtesy of the flying brad bender. He definitely proved a steady hand. Can get honda a good result in austria which is kinda what i thought going into last weekend and maybe that confidence is going to propel him toward a similar result this weekend even if i think the competition from both outside honda am within is going to be stronger across the board but another top five finish for him will be really really good result going forward in the second half now. It's at this point in the show where we do. have to talk about. Maverick maverick fan. Y'all as and i know the steering. Gp was a disaster for him and he may or may not have simply given up pulling into the box after saying his dash was flashing pit lane lap after lap but the stall on the grid he said was due to a clutch replacement during the red flag. And starting from pit lane. I don't think he was gonna push all that hard to begin with. The chances of you know pedro cost triumphant. Run to the checkered flag nonexistent. But i will say this before. The red flag came out. He did have his best start of the season. And i don't think he looked as good as fabio quarrel but he did look capable of kind of hanging onto the back of that lead. Pack so i have a i call it guarded optimism for him in this race. That if you can get another good start that he can be in that top five or six area which would be a good result for him. I mean speaking of guys who either terrible race last week yell olivera much like his teammate. Brad bender also struggled with the frontier in this race. In fact it was the reason that he retired from the race. He said that his hand is actually healthy enough to have a good top ten performance on the bike and so now that he's gonna get the tire he's looking for. Then get the settings right. They get the feeling on that front sorted and if his hand is just a little bit better yeah he's totally capable of a top ten and maybe even better things than that but because we're not one hundred percent sure how the injury is going to affect them across an entire race because remember. He didn't make it the entire race because of that front tire. Then i have to play a pretty conservative with him and not necessarily assume that he's gonna make it up until the podium spots so those are the writers on my watch lists which means we have one more item of business to take care.

"And how qualifying has been his arch nemesis this season. I think there's only two races all year long that he started inside the top ten and watching once again. What he did in this race is just just reinforcement that. If brad bender could just simply figure out how to qualify well he would likely be doing the same exact things. We've seen out of miguel lavera before the break and miguel by the way was injured in this one. That's why he was really not that great all weekend long and brad proved it again. Today i mean he started sixteenth and he was ninth as late as lap. Sixteen in this race. And then he just comes blazing through the field in the final third getting by bo takenaka gami and johann zarco in the final few corners of the last lap to get an incredibly impressive fourth place. Finish after starting sixteen. They just need to figure out how to get him. On the first three rows of the grid and brad bender could make some big big waves over the second. Half of the season. Never talking nakagomi. Well i don't know maybe he's feeling a little bit of that. Pressure from iowa is increasingly more impressive performances. Emoto too but one way or the other taco was motivated and he was looking a lot more like he did in twenty twenty in this race then has so far in twenty twenty one and getting roughed up a bit by bender at the end was really his low misstep and talk a finally gets back into the top five for the first time since he res- was a really good race for him on the other end of the spectrum. I wanna talk about three writers who did little to help their chances on sunday. And they all happen to be on do kadi's starting with johann zarco who actually had a decent race and he was in a really good spot when jack miller went out to at least only finish one spot behind fabio quattro in this one but then he let to riders. Get by him in those final few corners on the last lap going from fourth to sixth. And you just you can't. You can't do that if you want to be in the championship against a guy who's been as fast as fabio quarrel has been all season long. You can't make those mistakes especially when you're chasing writer in the championship if you've got the buffer. Well okay you lost a couple of points. Come back the next day. You can kind of fix it. But here's arco is a good distance behind. He needs every single point he can get in those situations. You have to find a way to stay in front of two riders who you are better than and i know that's arguable. But based on the results we've seen the season zarko should have been able to best takenaka gami and brad bender instead. He lost out the both of them. That's really really bad way for him to end the race for petco back niamh. I mean when this first started before the red flag. He looked like he was going to be a contender and then he was simply flat in the second race. He never got anything going it all and he finished eleventh doing himself no favors. And then jack miller ma'am after leading the race early and then falling out of the podium spots. Jack was in the middle of a late race. Push to get by fabio coiro. Get back on the podium. Make up some points in the championship as well which would have been huge for himself. Amber johns arco too. Because it would have taken a couple of points away from coiro. And i really don't think showing mir would minded. That's so much either. But then he lost the front end in the stadium section with ten laps to go trying desperately to match the corner speed of the aha instead of being patient and relying on the dakotas real strength which was sectors one two and four. Don't try make it all happen in three if you don't got it in three right and instead of maybe getting on the podium or at least finishing fourth he missed out on at least thirteen points. Maybe even sixteen and because of that. He's now over seventy points out in the championship. He is perilously close to having his title. Bid for twenty twenty one come to an end as well before we finish up on the qadis by the way how about the droese finishing tenth in this race he got the last spot based on a track limits and fracture but still top ten for a guy who hasn't racing a couple of years. I think that's a good day. All things considered becoming background to. It wasn't a good day for them. Obviously they didn't accomplish what they set out to and yet she still had a smile on his face at the end of the day. Why is that well. Because i'm pretty damn sure. He was looking up at martine on the top. Step of that podium and thinking there's next factory rider that's the guy i'm going to go. Try to win a championship with if these other guys aren't going to step up for me. Because if mirrored one or even if somebody like johann zarco have one he was going to be pretty darn upset that his factory guys didn't step up to the challenge. But instead i think he was seeing the future up there and thinking you know what maybe not this year but maybe next year or the year after that because i got somebody. I can really really work with here so on the podium whore. Hey martine his first victory pray mac qadis first victory in modo. Gp and a fantastic display of talent from future contender show. Amir was second the ride height device and the result that came with it. I think definitely gives mir and suzuki a ton of forward momentum them running at the podium fabio quarrel he just keeps on going and this is just like a win for him in a champion like effort as well and in that championship while fabio of course still leads the way and he actually has a bigger lead believe it or not when he showed up in austria which is huge the margin now stands at forty points after johann arcos last lap. Struggles mirror gets couple back. He's now fifty one out while disappointing efforts for both factory riders. Lee petco back. Nine of fifty eight points. Back in jack. Miller wapping seventy two behind some more and more this fabio quattro arrows championship to lose..

"Were kind of a different story. Jack had some really really bad results as he tried to get a grip on both the track and his motogp career for that matter. But the jack that we saw last year was much more representative of where he is right. Now is a writer and obviously he's on an even better bike with even more support than we had last season. Jack wants to be qadis leader. And this is his chance to take the reins amongst the desma riders and make up a desperately needed chunk of points on quattro. Ro at the same time to get himself back into this title fight. Jack is definitely going to be one of writers to be on sunday. Buddy is gonna have stiff competition both from outside and from within and of the other. Do cadi riders sean. Zarko for me could be the toughest challenger now last year at the red bull ring. Well that was certainly a memorable pair of weekends for johann but not for the reasons he or anybody else was expecting for that matter for those who aren't familiar. You should go back and watch. And the first race. He was involved in that now. Infamous wreck franken morbidelli. Then he suffered the effects of that in the second race. Having to start from pit lane this time around. Though things i would think are going to be way different. He's on a better bike. More confidence he's second in the points right now and hey branko. Morbidelli isn't even in this race so he's not going to repeat that bit of madness is so not only zarko looking for some sort of redemption at this track he's absolutely capable of it Arcos best motogp finish at. The rebel ring is death. That was actually on a yamaha not wanted to carry unease one here moto too but i think he's got a great shot to outdo his previous fifth-place mark on the decouty this weekend. And of course he's going to be aiming to get back on the podium. Now fabio quarrel isn't going to be the first rider. Most people think of as a potential winner in austria. But i'm telling you right now definitely. Don't sleep on him. He's one hundred percent capable of being in the mix on sunday because he's almost certainly going to have a really good starting spot now. Last year was a little bit tough for fabio at the rebel ring. But he hasn't been struggling anywhere this season. I mean you at tracks like low sale and mugello. That haven't always been nice to yamaha with their top speed problems. Those haven't been an issue for bobbio and that bodes well for this weekend and he's finished on the podium here before so yes the dukakis advantage and the ktm's will be awfully stout however quattro is capable of making up the difference on the brakes and in the corners and not only. Will he be in podium contention as fast as he's been all season i would not discount him as a potential winner in this race. He's going to be motivated to hold off the qadis and spoil their party because they think they're going to get him for a lot of points on sunday afternoon next up on the favorites list. Mark marquess and as usual this season. He's a little bit of a question mark when it comes to health. But we've all seen what he's capable of doing germany. of course we've also seen him struggle with his shoulder of the majority of the season not to mention his continually recovering arm. However he's have five weeks off to recover and gradually build up his workouts and his endurance. And he's probably in the best spot yet to look like the mark of old and mark of old not too shabby in austria. He of course has teamed up with andrei david. Oh so the put on some of the most spectacular shows ever hear emoji. The strange part is he's never come out on top. He's never one race in austria even though he's finished second here three times in his career races along with the fifth back in two thousand sixteen but even though he's number one he's definitely going to be locked in on that goal this weekend. He knows he's capable of it. He's likely to be the healthiest. He has been since his return. And that's going to make him into a serious threat. And i think he will be targeting a podium and another epic fight with the dukakis in front of him of course it might not just be do cadiz that are in front of mark that he's fighting with because ktm figures to be at the front two mb l. Avera he's going to be leading that charge coming off his surprised victory in the second race here last season. Actually i say it was a surprise but it wasn't. It was surprising because of the clever move. He made in that final corner to get past. Jack miller and paula spago. But he was legitimately going to be a podium. Finish or one way or the other in that race and we've seen since then that finish and his speed is no fluke now. The wind is obviously the highlight of his motogp. Stats here. But he's been fast every time out in the first red ring race last season he was taken out by police bogra while they were battling for fifth and two thousand nineteen eight. That was the best. Finish of miguel oliveras rookie season. So he's gotten faster here every race and he clearly feels comfortable at this track and of course. Miguel has been absolutely phenomenal since getting that nuke. Atm chassis with a win. Three podiums and four top five finishes in the four rounds heading.

"To kathi sells a fraction of the motorcycles around the world that's zouqi does and so there are a much smaller motorcycle company yet when they were given the opportunity to have three satellite teams and eight bikes on the grid. They jumped at the idea. But when suzuki had the opportunity to get one satellite team they went in the other direction. So i guess said not right or wrong. That's just what each one's priority is. And so i think that has a lot to do with suzuki being hesitant right now. Going forward. I think once they have a real replacement for wd brivio somebody from the european motor gp circle then. I think that there's going to be a much better chance that they finally bite the bullet and get a satellite team. Going forward moving on job rage made the argument that even though the popular opinion is the franco. Morbidelli is a shoo-in at factory yamaha for next year he's personally not one hundred percent convinced and huge numbers to back it up. And you know. I'm going to talk about it if he's a numbers. Because you guys know how much i love numbers but pointed out that while it might be impressive. How morbidelli finished second in the championship last year. But that was an unusual season. And i do agree with that. It doesn't necessarily mean he's following in the footsteps of abiocor toronto and as evidence of that judge sites that in two thousand nineteen when franco and fabio were on the most similar equipment that they've written the coiro finished fifth in the championship. That was fabio's rookie season while morbidelli was tenth and both of them were in their first year at yamaha at that point as well then last year frankie had the big surge finished second on a two thousand nineteen spec bike when everybody else at yamaha was struggling on the much more problematic twenty twenty spec and then you fast forward to this year where and franco are seemingly going in different directions. I mean morbidelli has struggled over the last four races. Coming away with zero points all the way up to the break or to asan where. He sat out before the break. And because of that you know judd said i was reading all these articles and hearing people talk about how it was maybe a slight to franken morbidelli lead that yamaha was approaching writers like row fernandez or miguel olivera which we know they talked to both or even somebody like pedroia kosta but that's not something that should be taken as a slight to franken morbidelli because he's allowed some question marks to be raised he hasn't really presented himself as heir-apparent moving forward and on that last point i'll totally agree i mean yamaha has to talk to any writer that they think they have a shot at getting. That's going to move the needle for them and while franken morbidelli and his team may not be terribly happy about that. They certainly have to understand that. If i'm yamaha picking up the phone. And i'm making sure that miguel olivera raul fernandez are not interested in moving over and that pedro pedroia cost isn't may be willing to make john or miss jumped. Totally shouldn't be making by the way. I'm or maybe even talking to somebody like jonathan bray. I mean the guy does have six titles. We talked about the reasons earlier. Why it's probably not the best idea for him to make the switch right now. But if you're yamaha you probably want to hear from him as much as he wants to hear from you. Knowing that there's an opportunity out there. Yamaha definitely wants to cast his wife annette as possible especially since they seem to be struggling to find guys who are interested in riding the bike but with that being said is franken morbidelli mirage. I don't think so. Franko has had some bad races this year. But the season-opener in qatar remember that was an issue with his rear whole shot device. Basically the poll rear shock failed on him then. There was the drastic in clearly noticeable drop-off in performance after his injury. The week lme. That was compounded by tweaking. Further in his flag the flag practice swap at that particular race and it is clear how much that injury affected him heading towards the break and in the pair of races inbetween that the buckling qatar. And all of the stuff that happened after the injury he did. Look like the frankie. That's worthy of moving up to the factory squad now. The problem is just didn't see a whole lot of that. Franken morbidelli because of those circumstances before and after and i think that's part of the reason. Why jeb rages wondering which franko is the real one. The one that we saw last year or the one that we saw the before that and we've seen so far this year and you know maybe yamaha's wondering the same thing and like i said last week. The biggest danger for franken morbidelli isn't yamaha just deciding that he's worthless and casting aside the biggest danger. Here is the fact that he's not on track to distract yamaha from those other writers who are outpacing expectations. This year like raul fernandez if broncos on the bike and he's not injured in. He's finishing on the podium. I mean yeah. Yamaha's calling raoul. But they're calling him not to maybe go up to the factory team the for the petronas ride but frankie's not out there to make yamaha forget about other writers as a potential person to fill the factory seat so ultimately i think the franco is far faster than his results. This year have shown. I think he's still the top candidate based on a couple of factors his performance potential while healthy his composure. Both on and off the bike in the fact that he's done so well on older bikes. And we've seen what fabio has been able to do on the latest stuff. I think franco being so promising on the two thousand nineteen spec leaves definitely some upward potential there. If he is the writer that gets moved up to the factory squad alongside coiro. I'm john also wondered. If yamaha should settle for someone who's likely going to play second fiddle to bobbio and again he's talking about franken morbidelli here but i don't think that's necessarily going to be a decider because if in this is a big f- if fabio quarrel performs to plan and becomes this perennial challenger for the title and to marc marquez. While than pretty much any of yamaha's choices that they have at their disposal right now are gonna play second to him next year. And if fabio struggles. Well then frankie certainly has the potential to pick up the slack at least as good as a majority of the riders whose names have kicked around in relation to that factory seat in there having been very many names that have been thrown out there so in the end. Whoever it is that they pick. I think that the upside of the best writer yamaha can find is gonna way heavier on their decision than the potential downside of a guy. Like frankie if that makes sense to anybody but me moving on soggy. Wombat found something online. That i thought would have never been created. It's a punk. Song about valentino rossi. And it's not really bad either mean. The band definitely knows at least a little bit about motor. Gp or the guy who wrote it and it has all of the hallmarks of a classic ramones style punk song..

"Gonna sit out for a year no way. I mean after watching. What happened with. Andre david also so far in watching what happened with where he lorenzo. He's not gonna sit out at least not with the serious intent to come back embrace in two thousand twenty three. He won't be relevant at that point. I mean we've already seen that happened to multiple riders now so if it probably is his only option for next season. Then it's going to be one or two choices. He the racist for them. Where he pulls a casey stoner any bills before you even turns twenty seven and obviously the odds are strongly on him wanting to continue racing. Which means a really a bud. You never know. I mean if maverick is feeling particularly moody maybe he just watched a bunch of videos of lynn jarvis or something. Then i wouldn't totally rule out the ladder of him. Saying you know what you're gonna throw my hands in the air. I'm done i don't like the media anymore. I don't like the circus anymore. I don't like you know trying to battle with my manufacturer anymore. I'm just gonna take my money and go sit on a beach somewhere and again. I'm not saying. I think that's going to happen. I think he's going to raise for appropriate but there is that one little percent of a chance. Maybe he draws a line in the sand digs its heels in and says no for better for worse. Take him balling going home or go the world superbike or something like that. I'm alright so that does it for the motor. Gpo news now. Let's move on to some of your comments and obviously a few of you wanted to talk about maverick vanilla and we'll get back around to him in a minute. I i wanna start with chris over on facebook who looking at the second half of the season in light of the first part of our midseason review kind of ask the general question of. Hey who is your favorite right now in the championship. Fabio charro or johann zarco and. He wasn't just asking me. He was asking everybody which is good. Because i really don't have a preference per se. I just wanted to be an exciting battle down to the wire. I wanna see valencia and import amount. Make 'em whatever other race is at the end of the year Make a real difference in the championship. I would love to have it come down to the final lap but that being said i absolutely think it would be a bigger surprise a much. Bigger surprise is zarko. Wanted for sure. Satellite team a writer. That was one hundred percent on the outs barely hung onto asleep moto. Gp by pretty much sucking up his pride and going to eventually it will be quite the story for sure and not just quite the story for johann zarco but for do too because they throw him a lifeline. They did him a favor by giving him that seat. And right now he's paying the back of course who knows what's going to happen when we get down to the end of the season if the factory writers are involved how that's all going to work out but if it truly does come down zarco and fabio quarrel and zarko where the win the championship. Not only would he be vindicated but do cardi would look like geniuses to now of course the flip side of that coin is fabio winning in his first. Try on the factory team. That would be huge. That would immediately peg him as a potential challenger or successor to marc marquez. Atop the sport but it would certainly be less of a surprise overall for a factory yamaha rider to win the championship especially one with wins under his belt. Already both riders. They'll do for me carry longer term questions about consistency into the second half based on their recent history. Because no matter how awesome. They've looked so far. There is a chance that either one of those riders or both really could stumble in the second half so that it also means there's an opportunity for some other writers to enter the fray potentially as well and not just including both of the factory. Do kati riders. But i would there. Miguel olivera in there. And maybe even someone like joanne mir as well and of course we'll talk about a majority of those riders coming up here when we get to the second half of the show. I'm all right so now. Let's talk about some silly season stuff. Tim over on. Facebook said that a dutch website kind of added some fuel to the fire started by kevin schwantz last week or the week before that suggesting some sort of defacto swap between yamaha and suzuki where maverick fan. Y'all as woodhead home to the star team and then alex rin's would vacate the seat for vanilla is to come in by making the move over to yamaha taking over the petronas spike. They created by franken morbidelli after he gets promoted to the factory team now. The dutch site said that they kept an eye on maverick the entire him weekend and notice that there were multiple occasions where he wandered down the paddock and was seen having serious conversations with some of the people at zucchini and they thought not a whole lot of it at the time. But then in the wake of the kevin schwantz suggestion if auto. Hey maybe there's something to this. And i will admit that. Yeah it does. Spur on some interest here in certainly some speculation but i still see that kind of scenario as one. That's very unlikely the play out mostly because there are so many moving parts. I mean you've gotta get to manufacturers into xueqian yamaha. Three modo gp teams into factory level riders to all agree to the same set of terms. And what the span of. Maybe a month or month and a half. That's hard enough to begin with. And i think the biggest roadblock here is the fact that the relationship between suzuki and rennes is in the bab one. I mean we haven't even really seen any friction. at all. between suzuki and alex rennes. let alone. The kind that we've seen not just this season but over the past couple of seasons with maverick venezuela's in yamaha. So where's the motivation on that side to break a contract early you know. And that's not a one sided thing. Either i mean in that scenario. It's not like suzuki picks up the phone and says to alex runs. Hey you've been traded the maha. I mean it's not a football team. You know both sides would have to agree that this is the best thing to do for their respective futures. Just maverick in yamaha did. And because of that. I'm not exactly sure if i'm alex. Rinse why. I would willingly agreed to leave a factory team to go to a yamaha satellite bike. That has a grand total of one podium in eighteen combined races this year. So it's good for everybody except for alex rennes. But that's not good enough. It has to be good for everybody across the board to get all of those respective parties to agree. So well that's might be the perfect one for maverick vanilla. He might be all in on that. I if i'm being perfectly honest i think rizzoli over petronas would love to have alex rings on board you know they could easily get back to that place. Patrol was at in twenty twenty. But unfortunately i think this is yuki side would be the hold up making something like that happen. Because i don't think suzuki really wants to break contract with a rider that they really have no serious problem with and more importantly. I don't think that alex rene's is going to willingly. Demoted himself. Just to make maverick. Penola is happy now at the end the next year..

"So maybe miguel is just pointing it out or maybe who knows a little stick. A little poke maverick's direction. A buddy it is good one way or the other. I think to see yama at least attempting to get a rider like miguel. Who's upside is just huge right now and it would have been the spectacular get for yamaha and in my opinion one of the few writers maybe even the only rider that will be worth risking losing franken morbidelli in the end to go out and get but even with this twenty twenty two contract. You can be absolutely certain that. Miguel olivera is going to be a hotly pursued writer in next year silly season providing that he keeps riding the way he has been the past few rounds on that new. Ktm chassis never pretty good feeling that he will now the majority of you think it is a virtual lock. The franco morbidelli is going to be the rider that gets that factory yamaha seat next season. But jamie not convinced yet. Jamie's not quite sure that franco is going to get that factory seat in the end pointing to the fact that yamaha wasn't willing to change their plan for him. Despite the fact that he won three races and finished second overall last season still insisting instead that he soldier on with an older bike while the obviously waning valentine rossi on the other side of his garage got petronas new equipment instead now. A lot of that had to do with the fact that rossi is while valentino rossi. Obviously and be. The valentino is contracting directly to yamaha. Where morbidelli isn't but yeah it still has serious shades of the johann zarco situation and they were fine. Yamaha was allowing zarko to leave. So maybe the same will be true in the end with frankie although i would think that especially with olivera off the table now that there options have kind of put them in a box where you know that familiar writer in franken morbidelli may not seem like the most mysterious most exciting choice. But certainly it's the ryder that's available. That has the most potential. And honestly i think if yamaha's thinking about it that way that we rather go outside because we want a more exciting choice for that bike they're gonna lose out because morbidelli absolutely has the potential to be as good or almost as good as fabio quarrel. But i think that. Dj has the best solution by far for yamaha in twenty twenty two two words who are hey lorenzo. That's what i'm talking about. Bring it on man. I'm one hundred percent on board with that plan for no other reason but the drum. I don't even care if lorenzo rides that well. Although i'm curious to see how he would do after sitting out for so long but i'm more one in back for what he says before during and after around rather than what he's going to do in the bike so i'm absolutely on board with that i mean they've got fabio quattro road to go after a championship. Let's have some fun. Bring her lorenzo. Back convince valentino rossi. The stick around for another year on his own. Do khadi and let those to go head to head for the old guys championship. Hell why not get lovie in there to put him on the appropriate. Let all three of them go after it and then they can play for the seniors tour. They can win a trophy of a guy in a rocking chair. I'm sure asia and can make an awesome trophy of an old dude wearing your helmet and a rocking chair that we could give to the winner of that competition. All right so there was shockingly some non yamaha stuff. Believe it or not that you guys wanted to talk about. We'll start wish. News bart who linked to an article confirming that enables dini will be getting a twenty twenty one desma ditching next year. So he'll be getting a one year old bike with christine. As opposed to his current two year old offering out of it still remains to be seen how all of the do khadi offerings are going to be handed out. Obviously the factory guys are going to get twenty twenty two bikes. And i cannot imagine that. The pre mac. Riders won't also get the same equipment since they have it this year with vr forty-six signing policy abbadi confirmed that valentino. Rossi's team will be getting one quote full factory bike with support as well as twenty twenty one bike and that would make five current year. Do qadis on the grid would assume. Then that at that point the rossini team would get to twenty twenty one bikes won for best seaney as announced and the other fabio the san antonio since at the end of the year. They're gonna have plenty of 2021 bikes to hand out. So it's hard to imagine the degen san antonio who's contracted to rossini would end up with better equipment than best ya who's contracted directly to khadi and that's good. That means that no bikes on the grid should be older than one year old next season. That means better opportunities and better competition as a result epstein didn't suicide which is a statement of a username for sure Lit up with his fantasy leagues score after ass in one thousand one hundred and sixty points top two percent of all teams not in the league but in the entire game. Now we haven't talked about fantasy leagues for a long time. So we'll do that either on next week show or the episode after that one and by the way. If you've just started listening recently and you don't know this already we've got to fantasy leagues this year One is on sports deck. The other one is on the official motor. gp website..

"What does this podium say about. Maverick's current situation at yamaha. If you remember after the german gp last weekend maverick complained. That yamaha wasn't focusing on him. He even toss out the words lack of respect in helping him figure out the issues with the bike. And remember that. We're gonna come back to that in a moment and then as either a knee jerk reaction or is kinda barb toward yamaha. He vowed coming into asan that he was only going to use fabio coiro settings he was gonna use fabulous setup all weekend. Long if bob you made a change he was gonna now whether he did that. One hundred percent or not is a little bit unclear but at the very least he did start the weekend with the same exact setup. Fabio quarrel them. What happened well. Basing his bike on fabulous bike he went out and qualified on the pole convincingly setting a track record in the process then he finished a very comfortable second despite his poor start so considering that considering that with his setup in germany he finished dead last of the bikes that were running and then either seriously tongue in cheek one way or the other adopts all of fabio settings qualified on the pole with the track record and finish his second. Maybe i'm way off base here and you can tell me if i am but is that not at least a little bit of an indictment of mavericks ability to get his own settings right. I mean it's at the very least more so than it is on yamaha's lack of respect or concern for maverick. I mean it's not really rocket science here. If the maverick maverick only bike couldn't get on the podium. Ever since the first race of the season qatar and the fabio settings get him on the podium immediately and in the meantime fabio has continuously been on or near the podium or fast enough to be on or near the podium. Even when there have been problems then maybe the issue here may not have been with the bike. Nearly as much as it's been suggested by the knowle's all along. I'm just throwing that out there and like i said if i'm off base definitely let me know on facebook or on. Read it but that's what it looks like to me. I mean if he truly was using fabio settings then his results seem to point the finger. More to maverick to being the week. Lincoln the chain here then yamaha or the bike that they're giving him and that's only the first part of this discussion. That's not even the mention. The situation that happened after the race which was even more fascinating. We're maverick looked thoroughly displeased. Despite being on the podium. I mean as soon as he got his helmet off in park for may. He shrugged his shoulders. Multiple times shook his head in some sort of discussion with massimo mira gallet. Then he really didn't interact at all with fabio coach harare either impact for may or on the podium and he hardly participated at all in the champagne celebration and listen. I get that. He's unhappy right now and because of that. This result may not have cleared anything for him. In fact it might have confused even more and let's face it. He's got one foot out the door if not literally put out the door like he's heading to aprilia which i think there's a very good chance of it then mentally. He's got one foot out the door. He's kind of decided. His time is over with yamaha no matter how long that time lasts and so even good result isn't necessarily going to do much for him however i wanna go back to that comment that he made after germany when it comes to respect and if maverick wants to sit there after a race and talk about respect that's fine. He does not need respect yamaha and he doesn't need to respect any of its competitors or is team that is not required however he does need to have respect for his team. They gave him a bike capable of sitting on the pole which he did setting a track record which he did and potentially winning the race had he gotten off to a better start one way or the other. They definitely gave him a bike that he was able to put on the podium. He owes it to them. Knocked to act like he did in park for may or on the podium. He owes it to them to show appreciation and allow them to celebrate their accomplishment. Even if he doesn't feel like celebrating his accomplishment if he doesn't care that's fine but he should pretend like he cares out of respect for his team not affords manufacturer not for massimo mira gallet not proverbial quattro or anybody else in the world but his team if he wants to sit there after germany and talk about respect he needs to show respect to that number twelve team even lorenzo celebrated with do coty when he knew that takada was looking for an excuse to boot them out the door and he probably would have done the same thing with honda. He of course not been so thoroughly terrible. If lorenzo would have gotten on the pudding with honda i firmly believe he would have celebrated wholeheartedly with the team even though he was one hundred percent certain he didn't want to get back on that pike anymore and the only reason that i'm kind of getting down on maverick and criticizing maverick is because he's the one who brought this topic up and i don't think it's fair to point the finger at yamaha and say those guys aren't respecting me if he's going to finally get back on the podium and you know. The team was super excited that he was able to get back up on the podium again in stand there looking like his dog just died or something like that and you know. I don't want to stray too far off the topic here. And we'll talk about this more on the full show later on in the week especially after i've had a chance to look at some of your comments and find out if maybe i am way off base with my interpretation but you add up everything that we saw and heard here before and after the race and i'm setting the odds at about seventy five percent. That maverick is gone from yamaha. In two thousand twenty two if he can make a deal with apprecia- happen at all. And i'll also say to really be careful what you wish for because what we saw this weekend may very well be a glimpse into your own future. If things don't get off to a fast start next season there could in the end be some dove regret in the appropriate camp. I think is what i'm trying to say. I'm even further off topic. What a difference a year makes for a provia not even a year. I mean nine months ago they literally couldn't find anybody willing to take their vacant seat. That's why lorenzo salvadore has it right now then just a few months down the road. It looks like they're gonna have their choice between maverick than y'all as and andrea also and who knows who else they might be considering so they've done a phenomenal job of turning that program around just think about the fact that they went to multiple motoo writers who all told them to go pound sand and now they get to choose between two of the most prominent riders in the paddock. Over the past. Couple of years it's crazy. I'm art so getting back on track. A beyond all of this yamaha drama. That was playing out both on and off track hiding in that massive yamaha shadow. There was sunday afternoon. Joann mir who fled outraced like his life depended on it in this one. He started tenth. He had to fight by some incredibly difficult riders to pass like johann zarco and jack miller who by the way. He apologized for racing. Jack miller kinda rough in this race but he fought his way onto the podium. In what i absolutely think was his best effort of the season and one of his best has ever even though he didn't win it if he fights like that once he managed to qualify somewhere on the front two rows. He's gonna be a really difficult writer to beat. He definitely looked like a defending champion this race and now the only thing left is to start qualifying like one but i was really really impressed with zhou. Amir's effort in this one. He really looked like he wanted it. And that's how he's going to have to raise for the rest of the season if he wants to be able to try to compete with fabio coiro as fast as fabio is right. Now i'm a couple of other writers. I want to briefly mention in this race. Johann zarco suga off his less than stellar german. Gp with another strong fourth place result. And he's the only rider showing real consistency in the fight with fabio. He just needs to go out and win a couple of races now. Miguel oliveira may not have one like. I thought he might before the weekend. But fifth-place was still an excellent result in a difficult race especially since we got a little beat up on the start of this one and drop toward the back of the top ten. A petco bagai without the track limits. Thing he very likely would have been forth in this one. I don't know that he would have been able to hold off. Show mirror although we would have done a hell of a job. But i think ultimately he would lost out and been fourth. I wasn't expecting him to lead the race and look so strong..
