"The preliminary information we have. We're all live right now. So what can you tell us this is very preliminary information. The fire department is on scene, and they're responding, but preliminary information is there was a helicopter that made a forced landing emergency landing, or landed on the roof of the building for one reason or another. There was a fire that happened, when the helicopter hit the roof people who were in the building said they felt the building shake the fire department believes the fire is under control. They may have been casualties involved in people in the helicopter. Many. We do not know, but right now, we believe the fire is under control. Again, casualties involved with the helicopter. We don't know what caused the helicopters land on the top of the building. But people in the building itself, nobody has been heard some people have been evacuated is all very preliminary. And the fire department is just in the midst of responding right now, as we speak, I wonder what goes through your mind when you hear some kind of aircraft into a building do not, not defining it as either a hard landing ornaments, juicy landing just at the helicopter landed on to use a word on the top of the building, which caused the fires. So obviously. I don't know. But obviously created a fire, so it was not a team land. When you hear an aircraft has hit a building in midtown Manhattan. What went through your mind? What do you presume winter? The minds of people in New York. This is if you're a New Yorker, you have a level of PTSD, right? From nine eleven. And I remember that morning old too. Well, so soon as you hear an air forever building, I think my mind goes, where every New Yorkers mind goes. As you were saying, before Utah speed variation that, that is the case, the only indication was a helicopter to do emergency or a hard landing crashed onto the rooftop of the building, causing a fire, but there's no indication of anything more than that, again, this is all very preliminary, and these situations all very quickly as we know. But that's all we know at this time. At the scene in shortly after he made that statement. We did get confirmation from the F D N Y that one person was dead. The pilot believed to be the only person in the helicopter. And by the way, we should point out there is no indication and all that this is anything other than an accident..

"Of firefighters service members and citizens lined the route of the funeral. Procession from Chris's firehouse in the Bronx at the church and then hat. On this day. We remember our product, Chris, an old who have made the supreme sacrifice for that country in the armed forces of this nation in the fire departments, and the police departments throughout this land. Sergeant Major Chris Armstrong remembered Chris, calm, mature professional marine pound. His chest. Try press. Drone on about what he was going to. He just did. Placed his marines welfare above his own always. I never saw credit but he always gave it. He focused on mission and the welfare pushed his marines, what they thought for beyond their physical and mental limits. All to make them safer, more competent, and combat effective. Chris protected the country and served the city as remembered by fire Commissioner, Dan. Niagara who said Chris, I act of gravy was signing up for the F D N Y in two thousand three he was a young firefighter full of endless potential strong, dedicated and focused on the mission of saving lives. He came to the Bronx, where he would spend his entire career I ladder, seventeen and later at ladder, twenty-seven early and often he was tested responding to fires, and all manners of has its emergencies, and very quickly, establishing himself as a reliable leader in his country with the Bility's far beyond his years of experience, his fellow firefighters took note describing him as a total professional and the type of firefighter that everyone. Wanted to have in their firehouse. Their words tell the story of an extraordinary individual with a burning passion for his job. And truly a born leader. Back outside in the rain. "Twenty five feet away. At the gorgeous Hackensack, Meridian helped stage seventeen we've everybody here. From Bruno Mars to Taylor swift two gene Simmons to these two guys really heroes one out of engine to eighty three in Brownsville the other out of engine thirty three which is down by lower Manhattan. And these guys are getting ready for a big fight night. Big fight night tomorrow night, the beast of the east at Madison Square Garden, a big boxing event charity will benefit the building homes for heroes. You've got coach Mike Reno and to my right. The guy that's got a troll and that Frank five zero two very very brave firemen here with us today. So for starters, gentlemen. Thank you for your service. Thank you. Yes. Appreciate it. You work at a very busy house that Brownsville. It's not that the one downtown isn't even that is by the Bowery. That's very busy as well. Yeah. We keep busy you guys. Like some of these. Well, whatever I mean, some of these houses are like very, quiet. They cook most of the time, right? Covari very diplomatic. So yes. So tomorrow night, you're gonna fight and Frank you what wake list, by the way, 175 one seventy five. And that would. So you're a big, dude. Very good shape. He's got some guns over there. Frankie tried to hide him. I mean, do you. Do you go to the gym and do boxing stuff anyway? Besides yes. I've been into boxing years. No. But has always been part of my training. And I've always enjoyed and had a lot of guys have box. You've never gotten in the ring before and a boxer match for somebody within the gym. So is tomorrow night. A an amateur New York state amateur sanctioned bout. Yes, Oku cocoa. So that's like ours. Actually, he high for about fifteen years ago. Bring it was sanctioned. Actually, actually was it. The actual Commissioner somebody came down and made it had they made us wear headgear. We weren't gonna wear headgear. It was actually sanctioned. Yeah. I'm wondering though in New York state. He's Owen one. I took the whole took the law. Mike reno. Of course, he's your coach he's Franks coach. And he's he's from again, the house down in the engine company thirty three Jones there near the Bowery. And so you're coaching these guys. And so what do you think you're gonna fight a lot of cops? I understand and what we're facing cops from Philadelphia and Massachusetts state troopers were also facing firefighters from Philly and firefighters from Boston. Wow. So it's a pretty big event. How many pounds are there altogether tomorrow night? There's going to be one thousand no kidding cheaper. You frank. You may not have been in the ring before. But I see already you fancy yourself top Bergen beach kid. So you must got a couple of scraps on the street, right? But short. Up all over the stuff like that. Right. Again, it's a benefit homes for heroes. He's doing a great thing. Nice thing charity boxing event, that's wonderful and back to the coach Mike Reno hip coach years ago, I was talking about this off the air the NYPD and the F D N Y used to hold these types of boxing matches. And let's face it. You guys don't like each other. And but now no longer they don't do the boxing matches any longer because what the animus is too much or well with us in the cops. We respect the cops and the cops are do a great job. And we're brothers and blue through the day. But. Us and then the cop boxing team, we didn't necessarily we had some disagreements and we haven't boxed them in a couple of years. I'll tell you what it's like we've got a very good friend of ours. Not necessarily analysis. Don't start getting upset, but we have a friend who's gay. Right. So he tells us the gays lesbians now, they're both gay once man what they think they have a lot in common saying you guys you wanted the Koch. It's like a sibling. Look, I I have retired cop. Friday was a midtown south detective, I won't say his name Brian Costello. And he says he he says that the cops and firemen hate each other. But you say that's not the case being diplomatic has one on the radio. Because we run into them at various emergencies and meet each other based on. I don't know the cop sat down with us. We get along get along. Charts? What are you doing? We need to get along. Now. You're putting a fireman though. Not a cop, right? Yes. I'm fine. The firemen from what's the name of the guy you're fighting James white, James white, and what's your box before any record? I to be honest. I have no idea where your coach much noble. You watch film on this guy or what let south pole. What does he do? I I watched a film on the guy. But I don't let them know. You don't let them know, you're keeping it quiet. Good sign. Frank. This is he is you walk into trouble all based upon what you've seen from your boxer here is he in pretty decent shape. Though. I feel we've trained improperly and these ready for. So again, folks, we're talking to F D N Y heroes. Frank Fazilov engine to Eighty-three Mike Reno of engine company thirty three and we're promoting the beast of the east that's tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden, a charity boxing event to benefit building homes for heroes. Tickets are available folk so just go to MSG dot com to look for those tickets. But so how long have you been boxing, Frank? To box him for years. You're probably. A trip into the ring for a real real fight so answer this question for us. The charity is very very important building homes for heroes. So what exactly to those folks do on a daily basis? Well, the building homes for heroes is a great charity organization where veterans who were coming back and they have disabilities. Now, they need to have their their houses either fixed or made more accessible for them or they build them from ground up mortgage free accessible homes for whatever challenges. They now just for veterans about for what a cop or firemen gets injured in duty. They help you guys store mostly for veterans for now. I think is mostly for veterans slice, it would make sensible it. So you guys to really to bring home the charity make it even more personal. Because a lot of you guys. I mean have you in your life trike run into a burning building yet? Yes. How long have you been with the fire department three years three years? So what was the last time? You went into a building that was on fire. Two months ago, two months ago. It's been a busy very busy house where he lives we scare you know, you you get you're trained. So so well and thoroughly by if I don't get scared to salt with yes gets here. Listen, I have a friend who was a fireman and he's retired as well. Because I'm getting older, but he wanted to a busy house. I mean, he didn't want to be in a house where you know, you just sleeping all day lifting weights or whatever he wanted to be in the action like one hundred percent same way is what I wanted right out of school. I wanted to go somewhere busy. You get that experience. Learn on the job. And now that's a hero right there. This Mike you you've been in this business at thirty-three longer. Right. Yeah. About counting this week. Yeah. Thirty three or four seventeen years. That's a long time. So you've carry people out of burning buildings you've done stuff like that mostly a nozzle engine company. So we put the fire out is your is your favorite movie backdraft. Don't you hate when the when like Billy Baldwin puts on a fun out goes into a building when the tooth is real life Billy Baldwin. Got anyone Europe by bench? Leery too, right? And how about that? They have a show on TV for blue bloods. But nothing for the F D N Y. I mean, what's up with my mother's big on Chicago fire. Oh, yeah. I love that show. That's what she gets all facts that she tells me. That's right. That's right. So, you know, we're doing something in April the first Saturday of April, Bernie, and I and that's been official yet. But it's a charity morning we're hosting and they're going to ask us to put on your eventually one up the stairs. And do what you guys five flights. Fifty one. Penn plaza at like seven o'clock in the morning yet. So nine o'clock more in pretty good shape. Well, actually starts at six much your time you and I are scheduled to go on, but we're in pretty good shape. But there's a chance will die. I hope you train. Training. So we'd be putting into do something being honest. How did you train your fire department duties, what did you do? I did a lot of lot of running. Stairs, put into weighted vest on say climate says what a weighted vests just you get used to that. When you go like fifty sixty steps continuous the elevator. Broken my building Mike a couple of days ago. It's fourteen stories. I was yelling and screaming and bitching. You would've thought woke up the old guard waste World Trade Center. It was fourteen flights. It could make here coming up in April. I need to do some training. Hey tomorrow night is is fight night Madison Square Garden. It's the beast of the east for its benefit is a charity boxing event, the F D N Y fighting cops and firemen from around the country. And it's the benefit building homes for heroes. The website is building homes for heroes dot org. So Frankie just let me ask you again. Do you have shutter flies now going through this fight two hundred seventy five pounds your opponent hits hard choice? I'm expecting that. Right. Thought prepared. I mean, my gut everybody on the team prepared for any scenario that can come and go so these guys and don't take the wrong way. But you're both very annoying. And what I mean by that is that is every woman loves a firefighter. They do let's face it could look. And you guys are good looking guys. Can you boycott the nice smile? You're gonna fight. They got guns. You've got a bike tomorrow night. So on one hand, this was a great appearance today. And thank you for your courageousness and your service on the other hand, you live up to every annoying. Stereotype that firefighters am I right about that? Guys to you. You know, I love this. The more Heine. They get the happier. I am for them. Mike. Oh, you'll probably married. Right. Marriages you'll you'll older obviously about forty three. Okay. How many years you married? Ten years. Okay. Now, you you're a young hold. You not much younger that Mike. I'm forty one. Really? Are you married? A mandatory kid, no kidding young. Like thirty years old. Yeah. Actually, I appreciate you. That's because you're in shape. Obviously, I've tried to take care of myself. Yes. Specified, your wives. Good, friends and everything hate each other. Sure. Who who's your favorite boxer, by the way, Frank? All time was authority gatty. Ward fights what a tragic heat..

"List is. The best. Job. Oh. Show. You know, we're on the air, and we had that beautiful moving funeral for Stephen Pollard, and the F D N winer our hearts, go out to the Pollard family and to the F D N Y all the men and women of Commissioner. Niagara was great stellar t best fire department in the world do respect all the fire departments, many of the men and women are unbelievable. And so they had the big funeral so Commissioner O'Neill's great comes on the air. And he says he'd like to give your acknowledgement to the pilot family to the F D N Y, you know, to his brother Commissioner Niagara. And wishing all the best to the FDA and white this hard hard time losing a firefight. Thirty years old heartbreak just Harper. So now, Frankie jumps in after that Brighi. Fibro jumps in happens is seen the those where the funeral was by marine park. In Brooklyn any the heat. Frankie says on the air. He goes, hey, if anybody's by their afterwards, or if you're waiting because when you're you have that big beautiful. Tribute is well-deserved tribute to the firefighters when we lose one and helicopters police, and there's a lot of police officers firefighters that while the funerals going on they have to be somewhere rather than just hanging out. Frankie says on the air go to Michael's a Brooklyn. Well, won't be. Oh, this is they all went to bike Brooklyn because they're all listening at how honored we are. By the way, the f the N Y listens to the show. And why PD we love you and just have such immense respect enough for you. So so all the firefighters Frankie went to Fred Frank called. We got a message on my God. There's hundreds of firefighters. And you know, I gotta give you Michaels in Brooklyn. And this isn't a commercial. I've nothing in front of me. We love Michael Brooklyn for being there with us from day one, Fred and Marianne and Michael himself you Johnny with us. Don't you know, Fred went ahead? And he make pasta on the house for us on the house to the firefighters who came in. And then I guess they all stayed for lunch after that, Frankie. This is a great story. So they went in for lunch, and they had lunch there. And I didn't I didn't. It was kind of spur of the moment. I didn't really give a heads up that I was gonna say the people should go there after the funeral. But but he happened to hear it and. He was prepared both in terms of extra food or extra staff people and. In the midst of their lunch. He gave them all pasta on the house, which was very very nice. And that's the kind of guy. Fred is if you haven't been to Michaels in Brooklyn, it's worth going there for the food is worth staying there. Just to hang out with Fred. It's so true. So Fred heard you earlier the board getting whoops. I better get ready. And indeed he did that was great. And that was just a just a that's such a great story. And by the way, that that's everything that's great about local radio, but local radio that that is a great service. You know, because it was a tough day for the firefighters, certainly for the politics a tough day all around and for if we want to Fred and everybody in a Brooklyn for stepping up for the elite F D N Y that that is really great. Great move, Frankie. Just just great radio right there. Hey, Joe on the radio and just so much you get into the day. But you can call is Bobby in still there guys from Staten Island. Bobby good morning. What's on your mind this morning, my friend? Thanks for calling in. Hey, joe. My thing is when you get a check cashing place. They charge. You one percent. Why it transfers to Mexico warm percent? Mexico pays little wall. Spotted on boom, boom. Thank you, very, Bobby. Exactly. And thank you for mentioning that. Thank you got to love you for calling in swear to goodness gracious. You make all the sense in the world. I gotta listen to the news and the politicians all weekend long ago on call from Bobby from Staten Island makes more sense than anybody and you call eight seven seven thousand seven hundred twenty nine ninety nine you make sense. I wish that that's what you do for the news, by the way. They spent so much money. Preparing a news executing new saying the right thing. Jim Acosta's down at the wall making a fool of himself. You know? Oh, my goodness gracious. We should just talk to the people just do what they call actuaries go on the street. You're going to get the news better than anything that the billions of dollars in news organizations send you know, send out to us. It's so true. Because when the president does the US MCA deal and replaces NAFTA that pays for the war. There is there are millions tens of millions of dollars going to Mexico going across the border, which is great the people come across the illegal. They work. They send the money back home. How great is that? But maybe maybe a little vague on that a little bit. Can we get something? We're not getting the get looked. They're getting free healthcare getting free school to get in free legal advice for a couple of million dollars for illegals. Everything's for illegal. Then then I can. And we'll we'll go to break. And I don't want to be too political this early in the morning, but you know, what I gotta be because I say some of these tweets throughout the night, you could see a safe some tweets. And then I wait till we go on the air, and I put him out. So we could talk about them because a lot of it. This is from Oliver McGee the PHD, Woohoo, we should probably chat with. And I don't mean just to give these former senior adviser to the White House, and he has tweeted out something one gal was at a town hall meeting, and she's an African American gal. And she says when when blacks committed crime, we get three strikes when a legal aliens commit a crime, they get amnesty and benefits. They're not paying taxes. Check out my Twitter feed. Please Jay Z Y at jersey Joe Piscopo, and this is a great treat again it comes from Dr McGee, but this poor gal is in a in the community. And she's plenty Saint you say, the illegals get everything, and he's Bobby just said, they send the money back to Mexico. It just goes like something's gotta be done. There is no comprehensive immigration reform. And if it starts with the well, let's start with the war. Don't make this a political ploy. Don't make this. A you. Just don't make up a little they don't want to give the president anything. Something's gotta be done about that. And then and in this, and I read this to somebody put this. Out and I get to political this early in the morning this from Charlie Kirk. There are three point six million black kids in poverty in America in Charlie asks, why do Gummer Kratz choose to put illegals first. Bingo. Thank you, Mr. Kirk. Bingo right there. Where's Al Sharpton? Dancing with a Cossio Cortes in the house of representatives. Did you see that video? Yeah. Let's go dancing were great roots, anti Trump, everything how about helping the three point six million black kids in poverty in America before you gotta worry about separation of family in the border. And none of the new shows even talk about it. Nobody talks about it. Just me. It's Bobby in Staten Island. You you get it. Oh, don't get me fired up. And you know, it's really a city when I go do the benefits and whether the great Don Mattingly, helping out at risk children in Evansville, Indiana, where it's me trying to help out the boys and girls clubs in New Jersey or walking the streets in Camden and thinking when are they going to step up? When are we gonna? To worry about Paterson, New Jersey and rebuilt Paterson, New Jersey with some manufacturing base in create jobs as as opposed to just taxing us, you know, as opposed to saying, well, we're going to get a legal fund illegal fund for illegals that come in in the state of New Jersey. Why don't we go to Patterson walk those streets and help those people out. I can't for the life of me, the whole tenor the whole mantra of the news media is backwards. They're not getting to the heart of the matter. They're not building up. They don't care about you. They don't care about me. They're going to go on vacation. They're going to talk to make the wall of a political situation. And thank God. You have the sense to see through a you do Frankie this this, please. And then trust me lots of fun this morning, but I just want to get through. It's been a big news weekend. And I don't like, oh, mayor de Blasio running for the White House. I you kidding me. Are you kidding me? What I e Elizabeth Warren. Would you people? Stop it not in a million years, and my I'll tell you my instincts. Good on this show early on we candidate Trump on three times. I had Bernie on the law all the candidates on this show right here. What we call Piscopo in the morning with Frankie and Allen, Debbie, and I told and I said it, and I felt it and I knew it Donald Trump's gonna win the presidency. I felt it and I knew it and the only other guy that knew that and Frankie knew it to Mike Gallagher foods on ten zero five here and am970theansweRcom told us many many times walk down the hallway. I looked at Mike was coming into November twenty sixteen election day was coming up, and he looked at me. Mike Gallagher dead. No words exchanged Justice. He's gonna win. That's what my Gallagher said to me. And I said, Mike you are. So I need just know in your the feeling I don't know what it is. It's a street sense. I always call. My Bloomfield avenue street sent you may have a Brooklyn, Bronx, queens street sense. I understand that. You just know there's no way that made the Blasi will you know, what not to take anything away. Yeah. Good things at the mayor's done like like the crime like the great fire department. The homeless is another thing the taxi the progressive socialist are talking about all you gotta make it better for the middle class. Well, let's stop raising taxes constantly 'cause you're killing us. You're killing us you Kim. They don't they don't even think about it. He goes all we don't we don't trust the people that we can't afford to live in New York anymore because the taxes are so high. How can these people be so out of it? How can these progressive democrat progressives? And that's what they call themselves, the communists, and the socialists and the marxists. How can they say? Well, we we there's no chance for people because you don't give us a chance because you raise the toll 'cause you raise the taxes I fired up this morning. I see all the insanity surrounding the news. And I excuse me when we turn the microphone on a fired up. And so the on tacitly of Elizabeth Warren, the city of Kamala Harris Cassidy of mayor de Blasios thinking that. He could possibly win. This don't even bother. Don't even waste our time..

"Have the truck delivered or by a piece of equipment and handed to them. They start using it in real fire circumstance I've seen it. I've seen it all over Facebook and on your website to I mean, you're you're you're thrown trucks out there all the time. And you're right. Some of these small communities have replaced trucks and twenty years and their equipment. It's really what's really amazing is that sometimes it's even you know in cities like Boston where they needed a fireboat. You know, they're they're old fireboat was thirty years old after Katrina down in New Orleans. A lot of their fire houses were destroyed. So we went down to help build the rebuild the fire hoses and found out that they didn't have fireboats while we ended up buying sixteen boats for them. Here's the other thing. If you tell people that you want help raising money for firefighters. Firefighters are always in the top three groups of people that are loved when they pull people who do you most admire so when you tell people I need money to help firefighters people really respond from their heart and their wallet because they care about him something. But here's about your foundation because I've been following it for years, and I've donated to before is that you you put your money where your mouth is. I mean, the the money goes out just as much as quick as it comes in. And that's what I love about it. Yeah. We don't we don't. That's that's more or less to my good work and more to the need. Because once we ask a department. What do you need every single fire department big town and small town? You know urban giants like the F D N Y our the Boston of the crappy as well as small town firehose, they all have a need. So it's it's great. It's a really great feeling to be able to take the money, and you know, in some cases, only a couple of months later, turnover a vehicle, and then these guys send us videos back of them using it the day that they get. Fantastic. Great work, man. All right. Thanks, man. Thank you have a great day. All right. All right. Top stories are next on seven twenty WGN. Mattress firm's fanfare deals.

"Firefighters don't go on strike in almost every urban setting in America means that they they're constantly getting their budgets, and they have just the truth. Yeah. So I started the foundation to help the Worcester. Fire department my cousin's dad, and one of my best friends had become a firefighter in New York. And after nine eleven we moved into help the families of the four hundred firefighters who were killed. During nine eleven so. Yeah. From there, we you know, we start to help the SDN y build a high-rise simulator, which they didn't have so their training facility. So we built a building for them. Yeah. Critical that allows them. Yeah. Yeah. It's really. And so I mean, it's it now we're at the point where thank God almost twenty years later. We've we're so successful. But every year, we're we're like last year with this event, we helped ten different departments all over the country to get new trucks. Saw that. I saw the trucks online. Yeah. That's very cool. That's what we do is we call it. We can be heroes because the David David Bowie fan and his estate was nice enough to give us the rights to the song and those lyrics, so it's called we can be heroes. And it's my foundation firefighters foundation and the SDN Y foundation. And what we do is. We get celebrities to come in with corporate sponsors and anybody who wants to pay into the pot, and you get to come to the F D N Y training facility the rock. You're knee one and spend the day being a firefighter and going through the actual numerous to live fire. It smoke a subway simulator. You get host training you repel from the side of it. It's very active very is very real. And people is our second year people love it this year. We had John Slattery go into fire. They saw I saw that. Oh. Steve was who's an ex member the F D N Y coaching. Okay. So it's a really great day. You know for everybody who's involved, and you know, art dealers within six months to a year of us getting our donations. We can show you a truck. We're building a piece of equipment that is actually being used by a firefighter that was paid for by your dollars because the need is so great once you build the building or.
