"Good recent stuff from buzz Williams. And then one other team I just wanted to make note of in the SEC, Georgia. 13 and four now, three and one in the SEC after Saturday's win at old miss. Only 85 5th at Ken palm so the computer numbers are not great, but off to a nice start in the league relatively speaking. Remember, Georgia only won one SEC game. One, all last season, so Mike has already tripled that with, I believe, 14 more league games to go. He's done he's done a good job there. And winning, by the way, at his Alma mater Mike white former old miss player. I'll also just note that Florida and beating Missouri. It's one three in a row and the teams at B entered that they had an point 8 zero zero one percentage there. Colin kaslan, he had 16, 13 and 6. And Florida held Missouri to, I think Missouri was averaging like 86 a game going in. This scored 64. So we'll see on Florida, they got a lot more work to do. We'll see if there's some plot twists in the SEC, but it was, it was quite a weekend in the SEC and Georgia, if they can just get to 15 wins, which they're going to. It's incremental and Mike white's doing a doing a great job there. We talk SEC, let's do whip around here. Can we just go, can we just talk biggie's? Because UConn's loss and then save your market both from both noisy results for different reasons, but there's a lot to get to, but I just feel like those are the first of all, do you have, well, you probably do Conrad going into the day. Will you have Yukon ranked, come Monday? I will. And still, listen, I just like you noted earlier. I look at resumes. I don't put too much of an emphasis. Let me raise my hand and say, perhaps I don't put enough emphasis on recent play as much as I do entire resume. If somebody wanted to say that's a flaw, I'll acknowledge it's a possible flaw. But I tend to look at the entire body of work. UConn's entire body of work is still very much top 20. The computer numbers are still all in the top 20. I did drop Yukon. Down to 15. But I still have Yukon 15th in what will be Monday mornings. Top 25 and one. But they just allowed saint Johns to shoot nearly 52% from the field, allow St. John's to win at the excel center for the first time since 1988. Yukon's gone from 14 to zero to 15 and four, now four and four in the big east. So it is really, I thought Yukon's problems were mostly scheduled induced, like really tough road games, but this is not that. This is a home game against a non NCAA tournament team and it wasn't particularly close. Like St. John's was in control of that for much of the game. Did I hear you right though now? Yukon was out of the biggies for 9 years. And some of the games might have been a gamble. Did you say St. John's hat and one at the XL center since 88? Yeah, and in fairness, I just pulled that straight off the graphic on Fox at the bottom. Oh, it's on TV. Wow. Now I wonder how many whatever. They might have only played the XL like 14 since they did or whatever. But there's still a long, long time. And certainly notable there. Joel soriano had 19, the senior center for St. John's, he had a game high there. And I did check this after St. John's had not beaten a road top ten opponent, this kind of setting since 2019. And they played well. They had great balance. 6 guys wound up in double figures for Golden Gate Mike's crew there. And I knew Yukon was in trouble. I was watching this and along with Finn's bills on CBS. And then Xavier and marquette were involved in just a tremendous game. But St. John's came out and hit ten of its first 13 shots in the second half. It was everything was almost everything was falling. We're going to really look like Yukon was going to be in trouble. And yeah, the road losses are all understandable because of the competition that Yukon had to face at Xavier at Providence at marquette. But every time I've seen Yukon over the past two weeks, man, they've been losing the other game they won was against creighton and I watched like four minutes of that sitting in the sitting eating lunch at killington, taking a 30 minute break from the slope. So I was like, okay, maybe they're getting it back together, but I barely watched that game. For all intents and purposes, it didn't even happen there. They are certainly askew at the moment. I think they will get it together. There are teams each season as a reminder. If you come and listening and you're a bit in your fields right now, like I get it, but let's just two things. One, if I told you on Halloween, I said, listen, you're going to get to January 15th and you're going to be a 15 and 14. Are you taking 15 or four or I'm letting you chance it and see how it plays out. You're taking 15 or four and you know it. You absolutely know you're taking 15 four in that situation. Two, there are teams that hit these lulls. And then they wind up still getting a quality, you know, two, three, four, 5 seed. You know, that's a quality seed. 5 are better. You got a quality encephalon tournament seat. And they still wind up making a second weekend run. If not a final four run, UConn's got the roster to do that. So I understand why times are a little bit tense. They've got to go at seton hall than their home butler, home next Wednesday, the Xavier, I fully intend on being in the building. I think that's in stores at gamble. For that one, we'll see. A top the biggie's right now. Because you say that you would take 15 to four. And I think you might, I think you might. You think they chance it with that? Well, I'll say this. I'll say this. Once you're 14 to know, there's no way you're taking 15 and four. But you know, I know that. I know that. I know that's not what you mean. But even at zero zero, I don't know, because where are the four losses supposed to be? Maybe two at PK 85. It was a loaded field. Yeah, yeah. I think you probably do. Here's my point. I just thought it was kind of funny. Before the market game mid week, we had that on CBS Sports Network, John rothstein did a pre game interview with Dan Hurley. And it was like, you know, at that point, you kind of lost two of their past three. And John was like, you know, Dan, I don't want to I'm not quoting paraphrasing here. But I was like, Dan, you know, it's been a rough little stretch, but if I had told you before the season, you'd start 15 and two, you would have taken that, right? And he's like, of course, I would have taken that. And now we're too lost to more. It's gone from 50 to two to 15 and four. So no question today in Hurley, would you take 15 and four? If I told you that before the season, probably, but the way they've gotten here has been dispiriting. Agreed, agreed. Maybe I'll text Dan. Sure he'll appreciate that. Hey, I saw you talking to rothstein before Wednesday. I just want to revisit that question. Would you still take this? Would you? Oh man, can almost guarantee the response would not. Before the record, Xavier is undefeated in the biggie 7 O played a very entertaining game that I think I mentioned on Friday part I thought it might get decided in the 90s. It was pacing toward that and then for whatever reason just shot started not falling and whatever. They went 80 to 76. They cover you and I both went three and two in the final four and one. This past weekend, 41 assists total in this game. Xavier had 6 guys in double figures and Tyler Cole had another really good game from Arquette. He's been a top 5 player in the conference this season. But Xavier got a great game out of Jack nanji, who him and suley boom are two of my favorite players in the country for very, very different reasons.

"Kansas wins the game by fewer than 5 points, agree or disagree. Agree, it might lose it. Yeah, exactly. If it's I'm intrigued to see what Texas does in that spot there, if Kansas goes in to the Franco win center and rolls out by 13 or 14, you know, I won't be surprised. They've got they've got a lot going for them right now. But the Texas has a wonderful opportunity to really go to a statement. When the other game on Monday, Arizona plays against Arizona state and makeup game, just worth noting that if Arizona can win that, I think it just its credibility is the top 5 team, I think is only strengthened, even if they use down, you get another win. This one on the road, I think would be big. And then Tuesday's got 5 good ones. These are the 5 most notable. Marquette Yukon, 6 30. Wisconsin, Michigan state 7 eastern want to see how Michigan state responds to the loss against Rutgers and Wisconsin ever game here for Johnny Davis and the badgers is not just a game to keep pace in the Big Ten, but his national player of the year candidacy. Auburn Arkansas, 7 eastern. Tess gonna get tricky. Is it happening here? Are they getting picked off? They're going to win 9 in a row and all we're going to finally take an L here? You know how I feel about auburn? I can't publicly pick against auburn. But that could get tricky. That could get tricky. And I got for Arkansas fans out there. I know you've won 8 straight games. You're just on the wrong side. The Internet is on fire, broadband high speed flew in juicy going in. I think they took the bandwidth from Indiana and shifted down to Arkansas 'cause the Internet's working great in Arkansas right now. I got you. I believe in you. I love muss. Love the whole family. You are 7 and three in the first two quarters with two quadrant three losses. You've got one quadrant one win over LSU. You lost a Vanderbilt in hofstra. I don't think that's a top 25 and one resume right now, but could get there Tuesday night. And I won't be surprised if they do. But Walton, but Walton will be rocking and. I will not be surprised if auburn takes its second loss this week. Man, that's gonna be a fun one. Utah state again, as previously as previously mentioned, Utah state against Wyoming on Tuesday, that is a must watch for me for certainly because I think, man, I think you taught today might be able to do it, but Wyoming's a really, really fun story as well. Hoping to give them some pub on the site soon. And then, Illinois perdue, 9 eastern. That's the best matchup of the next two days in my opinion, while some of the other ones I mentioned are plenty intriguing. Here we go, man. What will we get out of Illinois? And for Purdue, which beat Michigan and Jade and ivey continues to be a fantastic player, that building is going to better environment real quick before we just wrap by talking Illinois perdue just better environment, Tuesday. Bud Walton or Mackie. One, you gotta pick one of the other. Blood Walton. I'm saying Mackey. Give me Mac and I've never been to either to be fair. But I gotta say Mackie, dude, I think that Mackie for Illinois coming now. All the number one team in the country. That team's on an 8 game win streak. I think it's gonna be another night. You tune in, watch some college hoops. There's gonna be some fantastic, fantastic scenes coming out around the country. President will be going. You can't better start going, although that might be excel center. That's my home state. I hope they're playing that example. Don't have it in front of me right now. Illinois perdue is a fan freaking tastic Tuesday night tip that could ultimately decide who finishes on top of the Big Ten standings. May or may not could also help Illinois get to a really high seat if you can get a road win without perdue, get to the one line if it can hold serve at home. So great quad one game and hopefully Monday and Tuesday, at least from a gameplay perspective, a little better than what we saw on Saturday with let's be honest GP. Love talking about this, but a lot of duds, but at least some storylines emerge anyway. We ready? If you get out of here in less than 90 seconds, it's going to be four consecutive podcasts where we've been out and under an hour. Let's do this. "Happened at such a short distance but yes it was quite a bit of debacle on singer media understandably because we'll say actually it was only a couple of years ago four years ago that they actually admitted that the call been hundred forty six inches too short. So what happened so theoretically on the day. Mr clements missed mcclements. Neil won the race right. Had the finish line being two hundred meters earlier. Five or five hundred sixty. I only garrod would've won the race because he was ahead at that point yet bed linens frustrating. There is one big other race approaching very fast on october with the london marathon in this year. London i think he talked spoke about it a little bit last week. Loss show holy book this year. It's going to be slightly different. isn't it. mainly they'll be waived starts You've got to update details and tell london matthew predict the time but you would normally do anyway to be fair because penn allocations. Then you've got a pack kit back in advance because there'll be no three weeks on There'd be no baggage lorries traveling from the start line to the finish. But then you drop your bag off you get your bag by friday. The twenty four september. Three to post. Then you go to pack the items and drop them off at the running show. Which is the expo at the excel centre. But you can off anytime any time. So you'd have to go to the expo anyway to pick up your race number. You gotta go there anyway. But you've also got to pick up your number an drop. Your finished kit bag of the problem. I foresee with that is knowing really several days in advance. What flavor sandwiches you want to finish ride scripted. Maximum perishable foods. Exactly going to be an the state when you finish norris package Tin tin impeaches. Can you do it there and tell jokes see if they try to figure things out. Honey can. I have the ultrasound this weekend. I'm going to bob. What's wrong with the baby. He's really giving him five minutes set here. They do have event model wild. That's wild. there's also an enterprise so you can look into iq interesting veterinary ultrasound. Wow look at the turtle toital Alex lindsay your pick of the we get one for henry. And oh it's it's It's fire season here in california. Yes so so. Whether there's a fire we were probably going to lose fire or lose our power often And we're used to it We've got got used to it but one of the things that's important is a ups which we've had a lot of detailed discussions about in in office hours recently which wants to get and how to get them The one that. I the one that i buy and we've been buying these for years. So it's it's the it's kind of a and what we consider the entry level. I will be a little bit more expensive but this is. This is the abc ups. And i believe it's fifteen hundred. Va now it may seem like a lot If you hook up your modem by the way my my i have one of these batteries dedicated only to my router. My modem my wife. I everything else is there and it will last six hours. You know just just sitting there without power is pretty affordable to consider it is. That's the whole thing is it's a. It's a cost effective. But here's a couple of things about it. You can page through like how much power my using. How much time will i get at this power. How so there's there's more to it when you buy the less expensive ones. It's not just that you have less time. You have less information also. The battery inside of it is replaceable. You can flip it open. Pull it out reverse if you're shipping or something like that but you can also swap that battery out which you can't do with other ones so when they're done you throw them away But or or you know. Dispose of them. Responsibly is the better way to say it but But the with this one you can actually replace the batteries with it. And and if you are in a in northern california in a in a fire prone northern california you need to have you know like i i We had a power. Go out a couple of times I don't know what it was A couple of weeks ago. And i i wasn't i didn't have everything all set up now. I have everything all set up in the power went out again. I can hear things that. I could hear them beeping but i was still working. You know and i was like well. I got twenty minutes so now nice save my files and i can put things away and i can you know and in that case came back on within twenty minutes but i was just kind of like due to rather than being like. Oh i just lost whatever. I was writing or whatever i was doing. I might have dumped my hard drive because it was it was writing something big to it while it was right. You know all those things so it's really worth it. It's not that much money and we'll do a lot of good. Dot com has a ups selector. That you can go through and configure device or by load and figure out what you what you need and for how long you would get way more than you need. Get way more than way more than you need. And th and the other thing is we do suffer power outage aching. Recharge your phone. You can recharge your your tablets you can do not just for keeping things up for twenty thirty minutes you can shut down your server. And and the number of the the number times where There's kind of a windstorm i have. I'm watching tv or working under the lights. Aren't flicking or anything. But i hear my ups probably going. Click click knowing that there's something going on at the power grid does not like not bad enough to interfere with the production or anything but good enough that a sufficiently twitchy emergency piece of equipment is now worried so cuts. We had very hopeful. We had an entire building in the uk the xl. One of the theaters in the excel center in london The theater lost power while there was everybody in it during the show and the only thing that was on. When you look in the back in the back of behind it all you can see as our monitor's and we had a light up to just hear a little and they were all this model just a bunch of them bbb but we're just sitting there and just streaming streaming out and If you if you take them apart and take out the beep You can light. you can light little. "On Before the break. We're talking to Ruben Saltzman was structured tech home inspections and we're also hanging out with Daniel felt with Cura home maintenance. And we're talking about fails. Home Improvement fails. Reuben, you had a good one for us. It's attic. Space related taken away. Yeah, and, you know, we'll start off with just tightening up your house, Not just the addict. But doing all that stuff. You know whether sealing around your windows your doors, adding insulation at the rim space in your basement. And doing your attic. I mean, we've talked on the show so many times about if you're going to re insulate your attic. You can't just hire a contractor to blow a bunch of insulation on top. You've got to do all the air ceiling. You can call it the blow and go and go. That's what we were trying to keep This family friendly here. First we blow Then we go, right? Yes. Exactly. Yeah. So you can't do that with insulation, any professional installation contractor? Is going to air seal. They're going to look for all those places were warm, moist air is going to leak up into the attic and they're going to seal them all off. We've talked about it. You know, dozens of times here, but it's really important air seal, but to take it a step further. Once you start doing all that air, sealing all of a sudden, you've got a tight house. You have a house that used to leak air all over the place. And when you're running natural draft appliances like Your water heater. It's relying on all of that air to leak in all over your house to support natural combustion and then have the hot flue gases rise up and out of the house through gravity. Now, Once you've eliminated all these little air leaks in your house, you've got a really tight house And where is all that air going to come from? So often people will do air ceiling and they'll tighten up their windows and doors. And now all of a sudden, they've got a serious safety hazard at the water heater because it'll backdraft and will produce carbon monoxide. And you can. I mean, this is how people die in their sleep. This is why it's so important to have CEO alarms. And yes, okay, And this is one of the most serious safety related consequences. You can have by not looking at the house as a whole. Every time you start moving a lever on your house, you start changing how one thing performs. You're affecting the performance of everything else. Chain reaction. And, and that's not something that your installation contractor is going to even think twice about. Right? Probably not. You know, some of them might. One thing that we suggest is if you're going to be doing any big energy improvements to your house, have an energy audit done. We direct people to an association, Mike, my company structure Tech. Is a member of this association. It's the Minnesota building performance. Association. I want to say Okay M v p, a Minnesota Building Performance association and they have a list of contractors on their website. Who will do these types of energy audits and you know, you could probably get an energy audit similar to this If you just contact the energy company. Excel Centre Point, whatever they are from two and it's Their version is kind of a energy audit light. It's not nearly as in depth as you would get from a private contractor. But still it's those are subsidized so you can get a decent energy on it for a pretty low price. The Energy Council. Otherwise you're calling your plumber and your age fact contractor, our an appliance specialist. I mean, you're having to get A lot of different well out there. Even those people aren't going to do all of this. I mean, the old way of thinking was that you had four basic trades. You got your carpenter or your general contractor. You've got an electrician plumber in your H V. A. C. Those are always kind of the four big trades. But there's 1/5 1 that has emerged and its energy that is the fifth component. That's the person who needs to be coming out to check out this stuff. And a lot of insulation. Contractors really don't get into the energy performance aspect. They get into actually just doing the work. And so the energy performance specialist is going to come out with an infrared camera, a blower door. They're going to suck all the air out of the house and figure out where it's leaking back in. They're going to measure the number of air changes per hour. And this is required on all new construction homes in Minnesota today, so we've decided this is really important to have this done. So before you start getting serious about sealing off your house for the winter, consider having an energy audit done beforehand and possibly again after to see how you've affected Things like your water heater. It's a cool way to actually know the results of it, too, right? Because very common in that, like other things, is where you're solving or fixing or improving one thing, But then that causes a problem somewhere else. So and that happens a lot in our business. How much does an audit like this usually run for a homeowner? Probably someone in the neighborhood of $500. 500. That's not bad. Well worth it to. Okay. I mean, I might save your life I was gonna say, especially if it comes down to life or death. Yeah, it's a big deal. That works. Yeah, I went down a rabbit hole with that one. But I think it's probably the most important one right now. You're in Wonderland. All right. What do we do it now we'll go to number two. This one is a little bit more easy, and this is moisture and air quality problems. We talked about having a leaky house once you seal your house up super tight Now you don't have all this air leaking in in the wintertime that air that leaks in your house is cold, extremely dry air and it will It will unintentionally act as a dehumidifier, removing moisture from your house. All went along. But once.

"Out with this on this Friday. Yesterday afternoon, Julie and I decided. Wow, There's so much music stuff. We better get on Chris and see if Chris Riemenschneider from the Star Tribune can come and update us on all things music, hiker, high grass. I am almost hung up with that song. Sorry, I was just I was listening to horrible song. I don't know why it's in our rotation. It's just awful. It's true. That's so funny. I keep giving our boss for your consideration songs, but she just ignores everything. I send her. Chris. Yeah, that's fine. Sorry to sound so much like a music critic. Okay, so Chris, let's start with the Basilica Black Party. There's a lot going on this weekend Basilica Black Party happening today. Rain tomorrow night really pretty great lineup, but we get some news yesterday. Yeah, No, Unfortunately And not surprisingly, one of the headliners had had power out. The brothers cancelled Show here. Cancel this show tomorrow night, And then I cancelled. They Showing more head at the blue stamp, a theater and more head on Sunday night. For covid exposure, which it wasn't real specifics, and I don't assume that doesn't mean somebody and nobody in the band. I don't think is got the virus, but they were exposed to someone with it. So they're being extra precautious. Okay, So what does what does the basilica do? Who do they get to fill that slot? They don't. It's too late. It is. Yeah. Yeah. Had I asked them and they said they were looking into it. But I haven't heard anything. So I put the best I can tell they just moved. Spoon. Who was, you know, kind of the SEC second on the bill. They move them into the headlining slide, which, for a lot of people of people have spoons. So that's necessarily bad. But for even brothers fans, it's obviously a huge disappointment it it's a I mean, the other brothers were the biggest right away. Probably the biggest act on the bill, and it's It's really a Card it. I feel bad for the basilica people because they, you know, really, really struggled. You know, they moved into from July to September, thinking that you know, along with the whole concert industry that Things are going to be better in September while they I think we're actually all felt safer in July H for were when we were oblivious. Well, little bit, don't you? You know, having cutting on cotton, and we didn't realize there'd be so many stupid unvaccinated people. Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, And then so there was in the basilica went ahead and they were the kind of the first big concert to implement the vaccine. You have to have a show proof of vaccine tonight or negative test result and it's It will be going to be a test to see how that goes because this is kind of the first really big event concert to do that the flow goes into the crowd and everything. I was kind of hoping the basilica was going to call either kiss the Tiger or Monica plant. You would. Yeah, I would. I thought I could just at least get a you know, local band Adam to earlier and schedule, but I haven't heard that they have done that yet. Yeah, Either way it's not going to replace is they're not going to anyone nearly as popular as even brothers, Right? It's just this is just one huge. This is probably the busiest weekend of the year. It's almost like when everyone was trying to figure out when we can actually do concerts. They decided mid September Minnesota. That's that's when it's good after Labor Day, right, Well, how did you did anything get resolved with the Jonas Brothers in their show at Mystic tomorrow night? Is that still happening? That's still happening. The Jonas Brothers issued a statement. All of our shows are going to be a vaccine required and Mystic Lake When said, Well, no, not actually. They tweeted that out after the Jonas Brothers and it was, it was really this weird situation and, you know Kind of mystic kind of left fans. Mystic Lake. They kind of a fan tang and wondering what was going on. They didn't communicate. Well, They certainly didn't. They never communicate well with us. Very good NPR there and I I really think it was a pretty bad situation out there. Should the show is going on. So that's good for fans, but fans where they you know they're just confused. Thing of the veteran required or not, It is not so it is not okay. Happy about that. Some people won't take us. Are you going to go to Lizzo? I'm going to lizard That's going to be a hoot that that's outdoors, not vaccine required. Uh, but you know, it's just a wild west out there of what you know part of the vaccine policies. You know, some some bands are canceling. Just not even for you know, Semi Sonic was supposed to play First Avenue tonight and last night sold out shows and they just got too nervous. And then you get, then you've got the events like Liz over. There's there's no rules at all. But at least it's outdoors. Outdoors, Treasure Island and all of that, and, um So who else is here this week? All Phoebe Bridgers. Yes. Phoebe Bridgers. That's another one where it was. She was. She was scheduled to play two nights at the Palace Theatre, And then she decided she wanted Oliver shows to go outdoors. Uh, so they changed it to one night. It's early. Brewing here, which which is pretty great compromise. Well then, But then it turned out. Phoebe's got a pretty strong and I can attest to this for my household. She's got Tweens and that are into her. And necessarily, you know, because it's a brewery they have policy of, uh, came out with 21 of an upper 18 and up and there was a big outcry, so they at least changed it to 12 and up, But that's It's still left some of the fans out in the cold, Okay. I didn't know I didn't know that about her. Yeah. Yeah, but that's that show is going to be vaccine. I think that one might be masked. Required to which the Harry styles shows coming up at Excel Center is Is visible if vaccine required and mask required, But then the night before at Excel is guns and roses. There's no rules, no masks, no vaccines, so they basically fans really need to study before they go to a show before they buy a ticket at this point to figure out what the policy is going to be all right, it's confusing. Yes, it is. I mean, on a weekend like this, do you and John Bream? Do you guys play like rock paper scissors to figure out who's covering what Yeah, No. Well, we had to shuffle. I mean, like, just because of the bridges show was moved. Big Your you know was tonight and one night and the Jonas Brothers thing We didn't know it was going to happen. Yeah, that. Yeah. That pledge also ZZ top. Actually, John is going out to ZZ top. Is playing on it with tonight. There some kind of beach bash. That's it. That's it, And you know, it's kind of it's news because it's one is easy tops for shows without Dusty Hill. They're basically just just a few weeks ago. Um, they waited all of about two nights to Continue touring, which is I shouldn't laugh, but yeah, I get it. You know there they already they can. They knew he was else So they continue to plan and which is what the Stones obviously did. Two stones already had two replacement drummer even before Yeah, it's about John Breen, Colin the band Now there are brand not a band. He said that on our show, Julia and I just fell out of our chairs, the Rolling Stones. Uh, what of music critic? No credit to you guys are no. I loved your interview That was in the paper today with, uh, Saint Vincent. That's good, good interview, and that would be if that sounds like a great show. Yeah, She's a fascinating artist. She she Reince. She's kind of like David boy where she reinvents herself with every record and you know she toured with. She did a great tour with David Byrne, about five. 67 years ago, and she she kind of does it. Heat is where it's a visual thing each time she plays, and so she always puts on a really fascinating show, And that's Tuesday at the armory, So that's going to be a Yeah, that's another big one, and that one is actually required. But other armory shows aren't vaccine required. So again, you got to Read the fine print. Did anyone cover machine gun? Kelly last night at the Armory I was supposed to, and I said, I'm not doing it. Why? Because because it was sold out indoor show with no vaccine rules, and I personally do I get you got kids got little ones just started school off vaccinated 10 year old and a 13 year old that needs to go to school without You know, my wife would kill me if you know exactly came down with the virus and the kids had to stay home for two more weeks. Yeah, for sure. That's scary. Oh, my God. Any other shows coming up in September? October or, like, Get her tickets are on sale that you think we should know about her that we should know about? Yeah. Um, you know, there's are obliged. Think I spoke to her letter before before to you? But Sunday night at first Avenues walks ahead. Oh, yes. Katie Cuts child. She was from Alabama..

"July thirtieth juliette. What time is it for you right now. What time is it here in tokyo. Have no idea what day is it. I think it's thursday at eleven o'clock. Am kind of lost track. This is the life of a new york times reporter covering the olympics. Yeah some people have morning events but Gymnastics is mostly in the evening so like tonight. I'll get there at eight o'clock and i'll stay till one o'clock in the morning. Come back to my hotel and continue writing until about five. Yeah that's late so gymnastics. This is sport. You've been covering for a very long time. And simone biles is someone. You've been covering for a very long time. So i'm wondering if you can help us understand how we got to this moment. Where does simone story began. Her story began in columbus ohio when she was born to a woman named shannon shannon byles. A single mom who had four kids unfortunately had a lot of addiction problems and during my many interviews with her over many years. She's talked a little bit about her backstory simone recalls being at home not having much food or not being fed at all. She looks back sort of with disdain. That the cat was fed while the children weren't at about two years old simone and her brothers and sisters were sent to foster care and they're then it became even rockier for that moving from house to house until her grandparents adopted her and they moved to a affluent suburb of houston where the next turn of her life happened when she went to a gymnastics center for daycare trip for daycare trip so when she was a really little kid is the same year she was adopted so is about when she was about six she went to this daycare trip to bannon's gymnastics and right away the coaches noticed how she was able to understand how her body moved when she came in and did a flip and a half twist their mouths dropped open they said oh my god how does she do this because kids have to i do it into a foam pit or do it with somebody spotting you she was just able to do things in the air without thinking but yet with still knowing where her body is in relation to the ground in gymnastics that's called air awareness so they knew they had someone special right away and she moved up very very quickly in gymnastics ranks from level to level and julia when does she emerge on the national stage of someone to watch she emerged pretty quickly why from the excel center in hartford connecticut. This is the gymnastics championships. She basically showed up when she was sixteen years old. You have one of those new faces. It's a breakout year for her. Small files at the national championships. She gets through this year and it is a tremendous start for simone biles and she goes into wins. The whole thing wins the whole all around. She was just so dominant. She's a scar in the making right there. From nationals. the top women in the on the united states national team move over to the world championships. Which all the best teams in the world compete at and simone biles goes from winning the national championships going to the world championships and also winning everything. Another solar go performance abroad. Happy smile from soda balls cheer emerged triumphant. I would love to have been in those conversations with other teams like russia and china saying who is this girl simone biles. She showed up out of nowhere and this is not going to be good for us in the next olympics. We.

Steve likes to think from, you know, Donna and Steve and Twin cities live. He was, he said today in the show that he'd like to take a little credit for wiping Ellen off in the ratings off because you know, doesn't here in our network is Kelly Clarkson is I'm before that, he says. Yes, Everyone believe it was and he is promoting his new sort of book of essays or something like that. I'm not quite sure what it's called. Seth? No, it's called something. Jennifer Talon told me that and I wanna know if it's true. He told me that it's your fault that people scream my name. Everywhere I go, Kelly Clarkson. Everywhere I go. I could literally do anything. It doesn't matter how many hits what I do in life. I could save a family from drowning fires. I could do anything and literally the one thing people know me from Is really true. What? Well, I'm I'm terribly sorry. First of all, why you I owe you an apology? No, Johnson. It is true. Yes, that is true. It was. I was a co producer on the four year old Virgin. I was also in it, but it was I was a writer, mostly by trade at the time s O. I was hired to write also like jokes. We call them jokes or alternate. Jokes on be new Carell was gonna be waxed, and he would feel the think clearly probably so we wanted to just give the feed him things to say, and we don't always like toe on Lee have profanity. So Judd was like you should write a list of jokes that are like dirty jokes on D list of clean jokes. And it was hard to write the clean jokes on, but I honestly think I was sitting on my couch writing the jokes and you came on television, and I saw you it was Kelly Clarkson. That was the scene here. Two of you on it. Yes. I want to hear him getting waxed your boy free Friday. I hope Come on the other. No, Kelly Clarkson e. I guess I never remember that and then have one more. It was very cold and it was your life and focus and over when free named nine city she was going to go to and it was part of W W wait watchers and it was self in part. Self discovery, part dance party, part self involvement books and but didn't actually really fun day. It was like 100 years ago. It was a great day, and she said, You know, basically she talking about her spiritually core, setting the vision living within a 10 with intention. And, um, we got to go to that before all this one. You Maybe we were subconsciously even cause I carried that notebook that I didn't take No. Two for quite a while. I did the prep power being president and all that kind of stuff like that. And I just remember some of the people we saw there, Molly, I'm talking about you, Lisa were you know in some of It was just such a great positive female energy day. Yes, Remember that? The only thing that we really laughed at was Joanna happened? Her salmon colored colored can energy her workout gear, which just made her look like It was going to be a rose was labia rose back or that it was a bit much and not only be is a road, so I'm just saying, because she's a white girl. I just felt like that whole outfit. I could not color was so involved that Labia pink Last year was so in involved in so many workout clothes and you see it like an athletic and you side in Kate Hudson's line. I just hate that color. We hate that color general my workout clothes. Dark, dark, same navy all want to see the sweat lines. I don't need great. Do you remember that was such a fun Daniel stores It was just a year ago. I'm not allowing myself to do any of this just a year ago business because that is a trail of thinking I learned early on in the pandemic. If you were going to survive this You can't think about what were you doing a year ago stuff there. Many think about positive family. Well, it was it was a positive was a positive memory because it was we were excited about that date. I remember no idea of what was to come. No, we were so excited about that date. So the last was all day. It was like a sandwich for lunch. And everything was super funny was there. Tina Fey was the guest speaker and Lady Gaga was that the one before Minnesota happy with The face. She was She was great. Yeah, that was really, really a fun day. Just people wanted because a lot of our listeners were there the next week. We're gonna have to relive that. It would have been sake. We could do that. No, I can't that when his paint that one could make me cry well, thinking about missing that, you know the opera one doesn't make me cry. I'm glad we got to do it. The segue. That's a painful one. That is a painful Are you sure you're invited back? Well, they're not having having a red carpet is the rumor. Okay, really? Even when they because they're got bumped to June or something. Lamar King of March the same the same night as the Grammys. Big footed them, Remember? Remember the big home. Bom Bom bom bom. Okay, So Yeah, Put this off. I put this off with Casey. You know, one of the little, Um Colletta, um, moves Bush. Is that the right word? You say that the appetite between to cleanse your palate Between this whole pandemic has been Um S Creek. Yes. The show. Okay. And, um, really admits Creek. Yeah, I just got a discreet and I really said to Casey, Let's Savory. We just savor it. And we can't you know, because there's just because that show exploded really in the pandemic at the very beginning of it and won all the awards you the Emmys and dropped on Netflix and suffered. It is always aired on pop TV. And and remember, My brother was early one of this, and I, Casey and I watch like The first season of it, and then we can't. We kind of forgot about it. We didn't watch it again, You know, because it was like, a long year. Anyway. We finished it last night. They're just with all the news and everything. It's just been so upsetting. So we watched the last four and you know they're only half hour. Oh, my gosh, I we were both so bummed. And then as soon as you finish it, um ah, year ago when they've wrapped up what is the sixth season sort of in summer of 2019? The show had taken off a couple years ago, making critics list and getting a lot of celebrity fans talking about it even before you know Covina, so they made a documentary. So soon as you're done watching it on Netflix, this documentary comes up called Best Wishes. Warm regards. Um, Unmasked Creek for Well, it is so worth watching. You have to have seen as creek tow.
