"On saturday april fourteenth nineteen eighty-four. In cahiers sabine in county kerry ireland a local man jack griffin was out for a jog on white strand fees when he saw what looked like a doll wedged between the rocks in a plastic back. It was the body of a newborn baby. Boy he had been strangled. His neck was broken and his tiny body had twenty eight stab wounds. Four of them were in his heart. The baby was about five days old born on or about the seventh of april and had been dead for two days the irish police known as the gardy recalled and they in turn called the undertaker. Tom carnitine when he arrived tom. Cruise into the baby with water from a nearby freshwater stream. He placed him in a small casket and gave him a name john. The gardy suspected the baby's mother specifically an unmarried mother perhaps a teenage girl or woman who was having an affair with a married man in catholic ireland in the early eighties. Abortion was illegal as was divorce condoms were only available with a prescription and birth control. Pills were only prescribed to married women. Both were difficult to obtain any sex education or lack thereof was laid out by the church. Young unmarried woman found herself pregnant. Her parents could send her away to a church. Run home where she would have her baby in secret and then the nuns would take it away for adoption. Irish women few options could use. Evine was a small town in police. Knew that someone with no something. They questioned women all over town even physically examining some of them for signs of a recent pregnancy before long. They found a suspect joanne hayes. Joanne hayes was a twenty five year old single mother who lived roughly forty miles away. In abbey dorney north kerry. She had recently been pregnant but wasn't anymore and no one had seen a baby. Joanne worked as a receptionist at a gym. It was there that she met the father of her children. Jeremiah block jeremiah. Was married with children so joe am lived with her daughter. Her mother her aunt and her siblings on the family farm. She hid the pregnancy and by april. Her relationship with jeremiah was over joanne. Hayes told police that she gave birth alone on april twelfth but her baby died shortly after she then buried the infant on her family's farm. Burials like this were common as babies who were born out of wedlock or weren't baptized. Were not permitted to be buried in consecrated ground. Babies like joannes received home. Burials after this traumatic birth joanne needed medical attention and it was through the hospital that these authorities discovered her as the guardian interrogated joann. She begged and pleaded insisting that if they would just allow her to show them her baby's grave on the farm. She could prove that she was not responsible for baby john. They refused

"The underworld. Today's quote comes from Salvatori profanity. An influential captain in the most famous Colombo crime family based in New York City for fought. She's actions were ruthless but they were necessary to keep the families disputes away from authorities. Nowhere was this sentiment more apparent than in his famous quote. Goodfellas don't sue goodfellas goodfellas kill goodfellas cheese. Father Joe was the original head of the crime family before his death in nineteen sixty two in the years. Following the family was taken over by Joseph Colombo. The younger prophecy never expressed regret over. Not taking over for his father. He knew it was best if he worked outside of the limelight. Things were easier to accomplish in the shadows while Prophet. She never led the family. His role was important in keeping the peace profound. She was known to be a great mediator. Inter family disputes and was called in to squash any problems for example in nineteen ninety two a mob lawyer in Philadelphia named Salvatore threatened to sue a mobster named carmine Franco Avena accused Franko of skimming money off the top of their Waste Management. Racket without telling him as if the accusation itself wasn't enough to stir up trouble. Avena wanted to take the matter to court. Never the best idea for a criminal organization. The fifty-six-year-old flew in to settle the dispute at the behest of the Colombo family Ci Son was also married to a Venus daughter so in addition to helping the crime family he was protecting his own family profonde. She begged Wien not to file a civil suit. Exposing the entire business in front of a judge would lead to more charges against everyone but Avena was steadfast. That's when pro fauci uttered his famous quote to survive the mob. You had to avoid the courts. This wasn't how things were run instead. Violence was the law of the land. Profonde she didn't want Vena killed. He was family but if he didn't relent. That would be the only way forward. It took some more working over but Avena down. He and Franco settled their deal out of court weeks. Later the problem was federal officials. Had bugged. Evine is office. Every word of his conversation with Prof Archie was heard and some of prophecies comments were used to pin his men on a slew of charges. It was the biggest and most ironic slip up of his career. "Fifty people charged at least twelve of them are supposed to be in a federal courtroom in Boston today. The investigation known as operation varsity blues. A lot of these people will be coaches nine coaches are charged and at least seven of those are among the group that after show up today, and I think some test administrators as well, it's going to be a mess. You're going to see this is going to be front page news for a while to say, the least only because of the personalities out were caught in this thing. One of them being caught. It would have made a would have been big new splash one of the two actresses one of the CEO's. But when you put all of them together in a blender, what do you have. Well, and did you see did you guys see that report that came out in the LA times over the weekend about the mystery, parent and six and a half million dollars for their kid to get in? And they're saying that what they're gonna do is come out with this first batch in Wayne and handle, maybe you can tell me if this is the way it works. You come out with the first batch of people that you accuse only hoping that whatever they give you leads to the second batch and the third batch. And then on is that how it goes way. I'm usually you get the you get the Littler fish. And then you see if. You can turn them, and they can tell you what the the bigger fish case. You already have the big fish who got in. I in that you have the big fish the second tier big fish, all the very high profile people. Right. So it's it's sort of reverse on this way. This is where it's smart lawyers are are really want a scramble to to get in on the second wave of hey will cooperate. And now my question is on six and a half million dollars. Number one. What school is worth six and a half million dollars. Question. Number two. What kid is worth six and a half million dollars. I can't see it doesn't it? Depend on how much money, you know. Really? If you have five billion dollars six and a half million dollars is a rounding error. No kids worth that make. Okay. Let's just move Dr dre had shoot. Well, we don't know why he did. But he deleted an Instagram posts that bragged about his daughters. Acceptance into USC. Nowadays, everybody. The I eat totally pokes that everybody. My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own no jail time and post their picture somebody told him maybe you don't want to do this. Now. There's no indication that Dr dre dating nothing wrong and his daughter probably legitimately got into SC. But and the guy's a billionaire. I mean, Dr dre has all the money you could ever ever want. And so it was just a nanny inner post, and you took that one down. Yeah. But wait a minute. Who's the Andrei young? Of the Jimmy iovine and Andre young academy at USC. That's true. He and Jimmy Evine gave seventy million dollars to create that a cafe at USC. Maybe somebody said, look, we believe that you didn't bribe anybody because you bribed that school. Go that is done, by the way, all the time. Considered illegitimate. And you're the kid is going to be looked at in a different light. But that is not illegal. No, no, no. But maybe that's why he realized maybe I should pull the post a little heavy. Somebody can point the finger and say, well, didn't you Jimmy gives seventy million dollars? But again, the argument is that he did anything wrong by saying though, he has a pre existing major donor relationship with the squid so many schools do. All right. Let's move on. Oh, the Bill that would expand free community college tuition from one year to two years has made its way out of a committee..

Now where we get any streaming service that if something's a hit. Oh, yeah. You better believe if you're not even a fan of like SCI fi or thrillers or horror movies, but something pops that's a huge success in one of those streaming service apps is going to be promoted, and it's going to be shoved down your throat, even if it's not within the John Rao confines of what you're watching. "On the ROY Firestone show. He would come on and do Robert readers journal with incredible photography. So I would see him on TV and he was he was in his late sixties early seventies and had a lot of health issues. And I can remember seeing him at forty nine again when I started shooting in the eighties, and he looked very frail had broken down gear and people kind of. Made fun of him. And you know, who he was and I'm thinking, that's that's Robert Riga Thac. That's he's got the guy's incredible. I have all his books. I mean, the guy's amazing. And but no one knew who he was don't care. It's just it just killed me. And I met him. I met him at a Super Bowl. I did in New Orleans nineteen ninety Kodak lunch. I remember I was I was on the Saturday. I was with one of my co workers, and we went and sat down he was eating by himself introduced ourselves. And he was the super awesome to meet and talk to and like, no one knew who he was or one or two, you know, sit with them. And I'm thinking this guy is one of the all-time legends denies like that that did amazing things and after while just generations change, and then people just don't care and it just kills. Me. I wanna I wanna remind everybody listening to this podcast today. At least am I being accurate in saying that two-thirds of your career shot on film up pretty close? Oh god. Yeah. Because there was no. There was no Chinping. No. Yeah. We I was how many? I was one of the last people around here to go to digital because you know, lot of the wires and newspapers started going digital in ninety five ninety six when the cameras were when the NC two thousands, and those are like fifteen grand apiece, and all that stuff and the files horrible. But you know, they they needed for deadlines, and you know, it worked for crappie newsprint stuff, but you couldn't use those files in a glossy magazine. And so it just they needed to wait until the cameras generation cycled out until the they got better and cheaper in the files or good enough. And finally, the canon one d the came out at the end of oh two had a file big enough where if you shot raw the file was good enough that it could run as double trucks in the magazine. So they told us that beginning in two thousand. Three. We're shutting down the time life lab. The legendary time I've lab was getting shut down. No more film. We're going digital, and you know for forever forever. It was we would call there. Incredible guy Mel Evine who ran the lab in the equipment area at and you would call Mel say, hey, Mel Brown. I need, you know, two hundred rolls of food you chrome, and you know, some duct tape or whatever. And he would just send you whatever you needed and suddenly weren't calling Mel for film because we had to switch to digital. And but those last couple of years, it's like if you went to a football game, you had to make sure that you had a lot of film because if you ran out of the game on it overtime. You couldn't go to your buddies. Hey, man. Can I borrow couple rolls of film because no one else had any film because they were all digital and that became a joke because throwing the nineties we all borrowed film from each other at the end of games at suddenly, it was like no one else has film. I better I veteran make sure I got lots of films and. Yeah. It was it was crazy. It was that's, but that's the reason. Why you're that's the reason why your skill set is what it is. It's that foundation and film. I mean, I think I've said on other podcasts Shamir, and I've done that. I wish that everybody that went out about a high end. "I don't know. And let's see here number nine original Averill. I like calling her original apple says she would never display her body to cameras. She chains that obviously will the new most it. Oh. Number ten. Original Averill said she would never join a pop style with dancers, doing choreography on stage, will it didn't interview Melissa for this? So I don't blame original Admiral for that number. Eleven. When questioned on the subject, she evaded and was clearly embarrassed. The interviewer insisted and called her a clone and she was silent and lowered her head. That's weird. But I mean if his the real original Averill and you're being called clone over and over and over again years like this is stupid. Fair enough. Number twelve, which this was. I mean, this was evidence that you personally cited was that are birthmarks were different up based on your own personal observations, right? Robert. Well, if you have you seen my Averill room, but my regional aval room and then my post ever little broom. Yep. Yeah, you can definitely see the difference. If you remember from the first ever room to the second after room. I make sense. I've only seen Brittany spears rooms that wing of the house has been closed for innovations right now. Okay, we'll make sense. So the verdict on that one, I think ever will slow live every tweet me I do too, but I wonder if I just think so because I had never heard that theory before. It's like not as popular. I mean, it all started from Brazilian fan site which is just that a fan site and of course enough if you want something to talk about, if you want your your blog point. So your post points for the for the forum you're gonna post. Something that inspires a lot of people to reply to. It's you get all your thumbs up, thumbs down things. I don't know exactly. But a lot of other like publications have cited that like the sun and all that kind of stuff, which I mean, however reputable those are it's attention. So I don't know. So so Averil Evine is dead. In someone else's dead to an actually heard about this one from you first time ever. Paul McCartney? Yeah, read a recipes. Paul songwriter and singer and bassist for the Beatles as well as the band wings as what they say. I actually, I don't know where I met with this. I'd love conspiracy theories, Jake, you know this, I, I love the whole moon landing thing. I love like luminosity stuff. I love a whole bunch of the Denver airport. Look that one up. There's a lot of things I like about conspiracy theories. I like the idea of researching it and ninety. Like what? If I don't know, it's just fun. It's entertaining to me, but the Paul McCartney one, I. If I had to right now. Put my name on one side of the other. I'd probably say he's alive, but I would tell people like in conversation, I don't think so. Yeah, it's so bright just for just for conversation sake. There are. There's a couple of conspiracy theories on this list that I actually side with. This is not one of them and it's not really because I, I have any sort of interest. In any sort of investment in one side of the other. It's just the evidence that that people have for it to me is kind of like man, right? So time magazine actually posted an article all about different conspiracy theories and and this particular one that I'm referencing is titled Paul is dead. Yeah, but of course you know, looking at it, we would have to think, you know, he never wrote the song. Maybe I'm amazed. He never formed the band wings. He never clashed with Yoko. Ono became a vegetarian or fathered any of his children Queen Elizabeth must have knighted someone else and not the real. Paul McCartney I can late nineties. Yeah. So conspiracy theorists actually believed that he died in nineteen sixty six low and that like way back, right. Well, I mean if you think the Beatles hit hard in sixty four and broke up in nineteen seventy so or six sixty nine or seventy. I'm kind of. I actually, I don't know that answer, but so sixty six would have been right in the middle of Beatle mania and I can. I can at least understand the motive, right? Like your band is doing amazing rigging in millions of dollars in a point in time when tens of.

"I remember Andrew saying chaser fear do what scares you the most because that's where the real freedom is, and I am. So I have to ask you the same question as we close. What if at all is your fear? I believe fear. Fear of one of my mentors guy. Jimmy Evine taught me this early. That fear is something that is really, really, really strong. It is powerful is extremely powerful. I mean, and it's so powerful, you can can lock you in your house and you never wanna come out for no apparent reason. The fear is irrational. It's dangerous. It's powerful, but if you can find a way to to take it and not let it be a wall in front of you or not, let it close you in because fear will close you in and you can take get it behind you and let it be. Firepower let it be what pushes you. You can go really far. It's not an easy thing to do. You have to get your mind around, you know, what am I after? What am I trying to get after? What am I going for? But more importantly, what do I have to lose? What am I? What am I really what is really do? I really truly have to lose. I think a lot of people have a hard time considering that considering what do I have to lose? And I grew up my grandmother read an after hours and it was gambling every night on on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. And I learned how does the first thing she taught me when I was five years old is how to gamble. And as a gambler that's all you consider is is what do you have to lose? What's that risk? What's my reward versus my wrist? And you're doing that over and over again. So I naturally do that. But if you could take that fear and really turned to firepower, you can do things that you've ever imagined. What's the game for maverick Carter. The in game. I mean, you make it sound so it's tomorrow. I feel like I'm just starting new, make it see, I think you like at the end of the day, not in game as if you're wrapping up. But at the end of the day, what what would be your would and I don't wanna see your greatest accomplishment. 'cause I don't wanna make it so definite, but what do you where do you see yourself? Because you will graduate from this level and to a new level. What I what I hope to do because again, going back to being selfish when I first started my career, leaving Nike becoming an entrepreneur. I wanted to get relationships, build my business, make money, do. Oh. Get knowledge, get understanding, make money, do things. Great. Take care of my family. And then because again, my point, everyone's self as you. That's just natural that that's what you want. I had nothing I was just starting. But now what I realize is if I, if I take all the knowledge, I've gotten all understanding that I've gotten the money. I've made the relationships I've made business. I work on the people I get to know and juice use it for self, then that would be horrible. That would be totally horrible for me because there's many young people come from a place like me who feel like I did when I was at age who could use a lot of what I have. So if I don't one day, take the same energy, the same power, the same muscle that I put into building my company building myself, making money for myself, gaining knowledge for myself. If I don't somehow figure out a way to muster that same bigger that same energy to give it to someone. Else, then I failed. We are breaking down everything related to branding, oral Roberts university. The school that once asked me to leave the school kicked out of the school. They asked me to come back ironically into deliberate, talk to a group of pastors to teach them how branding works. And so I wanna make sure that we everybody as wrap up this show when you when you finish listening to this show that you understand four main concepts, just four ideas and wanna put into your head. One is what is branding? Well, it's a quote, Elon Musk, who I think said it best branding branding is just a perception and perception will match. Reality over time. Sometimes it will be a head other times it will be a hoe be behind, but brand is simply a collective impression. Some have about a product that's lawn musk. Now, if you're looking for a different way of kind of saying the same thing, Michael Evine, the PR consultant of choice for Michael Jackson for prince for Nancy Kerrigan for George Bush for President Clinton for Charlton Heston. He's been a frequent guest on the thrive time show Michael LeVine. He says, if you give someone a president and you give it to them in a Tiffany box, it's likely that they'll believe the gift has a higher perceived value that if you gave it to them a no box or a box of less prestige. And that's not because the receiver of the gift is a fool. But instead because we live in a culture in which we gift wrap everything, our politicians are corporate heads are movie and TV stars and even our toilet paper. So if you're listening out there, you want to make your logo. This is the checklist get your logo, looking sharp right away, get your logo, and we're put.
