"Right there is why Tampa did admittedly we are not the strongest trivia. I can't remember. We got no chance dude. We couldn't come up with we got too many conversations going on at once. We couldn't come up with who, yeah, we're not great tribute team. So, you know, with that, with those categories, we're never going to win trivia because we don't know college too many we don't know college football. We really don't know what TV. I'm a go on Wikipedia and do some preparation. You're just going to go to Wikipedia dot com. Yeah, I'm going to go sports like me, where are you going to go to Wikipedia? I'm going to go to final fours. I'm going to go, there's a list of all the teams that were in there. No, but it's not always that. I know he'll be like, all right, name this player based off of his path through his career, and it'll be like box, raptors, Knicks, nets. And then these guys are and it could be any time period. Justin Jones. And you're like, what the fuck? Oh, a guy must have played here and then he went there and then he went to this college and I don't have any of that. I don't know any of that. Well, are you good at pop culture, TV movies? Yeah. But sports, especially college sports were just lacking. We're the only team in the dozen that just gives up on like four categories. Well, my thing is that I've been so deep in golf for so long that I've been so focused on golf that I just want to have that much mental energy for all the different sports, whereas if I wasn't so focused on one sport, I think I would be much more like dad. I was the biggest sports fan in the world until 2013, and up until 2013, I got it. 20 14 to 2022. I'm Barron. That's when I started at barstool. That's when I was focusing on work as opposed to like sports every day. So my brain with that time period is mush. See, I used to know, as a kid, I knew everything about the NHL. I knew every player I could tell you the top 6 defenseman and probably the top 12 forwards on every team in the NHL when I was probably from like 8 years old until when I was like 16 or something. And then since then, I just genuinely don't. I don't watch that much random sports, I watch something at football, watch Monday Night Football, but like I'm very rarely sitting around just watching sports and that's how you miss all of that, like just plugging into your brain. Video games used to help me with that. I hope every single sports video game growing up, so then you know every single stadium name every single player every single coach every single jewelry franchise mode. I knew the stats going in because they would flash this guy had this many goals a year before. My dad used to be like, how is this 11 year old? No, like, the right Fielder on the Kansas City Royals. And I'd be like, oh, she's like, I won't be the show. I just play every single day.

"Every single coach, athlete, sports director, general manager, needs to follow the example of South Carolina women's basketball head coach, basketball legend, dawn staley. As you may have seen, last week she said, we're not even going to play in Utah because of the overt racism that other athletes have experienced there. So we're just pulling our games from there all together. And to me, it might be the single biggest boss move in sports. That I've seen in the past ten years. A lot of protests and demonstrations have happened. But she actually pulled business out of the state of Utah because of the overt racism. Let me unpack and explain just how big it is and what needs to happen next. This is Sean king, and you are listening to the breakdown. The breakdown is the breakdown. The more I thought about what Don staley did last week. The more I thought about it, the more I think it may be the single most important, most impactful boss

"That's a plaintiff lawsuit waiting to happen. For those who don't know, I love your work over there with Lake kick. Tell everybody how they can view it and consume it, my man. I appreciate it, because it takes a mouthful. So we do the show every Sunday Tuesday and Thursday night. It's 8 east and 7th central it's live, so over on the 24/7 sports YouTube channel. But we also put out one of those good old fashioned podcast products, Peter, and two of them are exclusive for weeks. So you just search late kick wherever you get shows on YouTube or podcast and you'll probably find me. And at that point, if you haven't had enough, I don't really know what to tell you. At that point, my mom would be fed up, so you should be too. He is Josh Pete. Lake kick Josh, great stuff, Josh. We appreciate the time. We'll get the body by Josh later as I need to get the workout tips coming down the road after the holidays, all right? I got your brother, I appreciate it. There it is. Josh made joining us does a fantastic job really smart takes on that. And again, I think if you ask every single coach right now, they are living. And guess what college football should be livid right now? If you're a Notre-Dame fan, you're probably not happy that you lost Brian Kelly right before you went to a potential college football playoff. It's not good for the fans. It's not good for the coaches, not good for the players. It's not good for athletic directors, right? Athletic directors now have to hand out extensions like their Christmas cards in Halloween candy and they have to be forced into these decisions because early signing day is so that early signing period is so crucial for all of these teams. So again, I think that they'll start looking at this date a little bit differently. And fingers crossed that they do. I personally think that they should just go back to one signing day. I love that. I love the drama of kind of that February 1st. It was built up. It was a holiday. And guess what? As long as you have two signing days, the rich are only going to get richer. Alabama, the Georgia, the Ohio State, the Clemson. You know what they're going to do. They got the biggest plate and they get to go to the buffet and they get their servings first. And everybody else is waiting in the back of the line and they're waiting to say like, all right, well, who did they take what kind of what kind of seconds can we get? And you have just one signing day. I think that would help the calendar. We'll see if that ever changes. 8 5 5 two four two Paul is the phone number hit me up on Twitter at Peter burns, ESPN. "CLS media podcast network and for those of you joining us on YouTube on patriots press pass this evening and Alex, we got a doozy to discuss here tonight. We're gonna talk about the Patriots win over the browns and what it means moving forward. And then we will save the preview show for tomorrow on the Atlanta Falcons with this very, very quick turnaround for the Patriots and for us. So we'll figure the falcons out tomorrow, but today, a lot to discuss about this game, Alex, and I think the biggest takeaway that I had, I know. Hang on. Hang on. I know where we have to start. We have to update the scoreboard. Yes, this is where I was going, actually. I was going to give it to you. All right, well, there's a look at the new score. 74, 74 to 24. This is like this is like FBS versus FCS numbers here. Between actual football and the math. It is, it's great to see. And I think that that's where I wanted to start. We're going to get into all the individual player performances and all those types of things here in a second. But watching Bill Belichick over the last four weeks and then putting the icing on the cake against Cleveland on Sunday, return to pantsing every single coach that he goes up against in the NFL. Week in and week out, to me has been in a lot of ways just as big of a development as some of the player development that we've seen from the Patriots is that the hoodie and Josh McDaniels in the Patriots coaching staff is back to finding a groove and just kicking everybody's butt from a schematic perspective. And I know you had a couple of things you wanted to hit on about the Cleveland Browns and their ineptitude. But starting just big picture wise with that, it felt like first drive opening drive at this game that the browns ran the football right down the Patriots throats. And then the Patriots duped them or baited them into going away from the running game because the pads put heavier personnel on the field. And Kevin Stefanski overthought it and went to that spread empty type of game that we talked about last week saying, if the Patriots get into this type of game against the browns and they force Baker Mayfield to beat them as a dropback passer, and we really like their chances. And that's exactly what happened and Stefanski let him do it. So fancy let it happen. And we all knew going in that if that was.

"To tap into that what was once a rich market of players. So let me ask you this about the chiva situation and specifically regardless because I look at his resume. He seems to be like a principal guy, right? He doesn't necessarily leave places getting fired. He leaves places over, not having the support or not having the backing that he wants, specifically, I'm talking about his last job at grew sasu, which he took after being with Google medica. Are you surprised that Elias is still there, given the fact that it seems like he doesn't actually have final say final control, the fact that the owner is effectively as Miguel are mentioned the other day, hired his friend to be the coach. No, I'm not surprised at all because throughout his tenure at America, it was a soul achieve as he's had turmoil. He's had plenty of trail and every single coach. But he's left at that turmoil. No, he doesn't seem to be a guy who wants to be a company man. He doesn't like what the company is doing. He'll leave. And America in the last go around the last thing was the whole situation. He leaves before it blows up. He knew exactly what's coming up, 'cause I have no more fun to do what they used to do so he leaves, goes to produce a soul, and if you remember the situation, they went on our network. Victor got to say, on our network with their president or one of the divas the administrators of this team. And pick the fight with them on national television. So he was almost forced. His hand was forced to resign. Like right there on the spot, he resigned. And now, with G as, I mean, he's had plenty of money. To me, it's him like, I gotta get this right. I spent so much money here at chivas and it did not go well. I could be seen as the problem. So I think he's trying to fix things if anything. So they're sitting 12th right now. They're gonna play masala on Friday. Win? And.

"Well i mean you know. They've got A defensive defensive being there that You know that's a pretty good player. This league they also have clowney who are too good russia's garrett and he It's a defense. That i think has got a bunch of new players. This year that they brought in And i thought in this past game that watching the video of the kansas city game. I thought they did a really nice job in that game of con- containing very very good offensive football team And offensively they got a lot of weapons You know they got a very good quarterback. Got the probably the two best combo running backs in in the game Got guys that they got skill all over the place and a very good offensive line. It's a big challenge. We kind of look at those guys as we we. We talk about during during the course of the year. You're gonna play teams. That are what you consider like playoff-caliber teams guys that have been there guys. That are expected to be their teams that are and we playing one of those teams this week and they definitely art is a challenge. You saw me named a bunch of different Guys on that team and the difference. They're making he is one hundred percent. Correct did nick shove and kareem. Hunt are the very best combo backfield leak and their challenge. It will be there as david kelly discussing and myles garrett and a half bad players. David kelly with this smirk on his face knowing what he's talking about that guy's pretty good in this league. Now you got a question of what. I tell you yesterday about coordinators. Even he got baker mayfield. Who's going to put up numbers this year and it's a hell of a player betcha they'll all say love. You gotta stop the run. Well let's see what david kelly said about stopping the run. Well basically we the first thing. We do defensive as we want to be able to stop the run you know opposite. They want to run the ball just like we do. And basically we'll just kinda see how the game unfolds and play the game the way we know it needs to be played and see what happens. Did i not tell you yesterday. That every single coach will tell you and in this case. It's it's definitely true but if they were playing slippery rock you know what they'd say. Got to stop the run. Every coach says that it's it's like it's something that they've been programmed to say. Not just dave kelly all of them. I feel very rarely run into one. That will say well. We can let him run but will win. Gotta stop the run. Finally gap control people. Do not like you know playing a to gap where you hittin read and react. They want instant penetration. I can tell you this regardless how they're gonna play it. You better meet shove. And kareem hunt in the backfield. And create a new line of scrimmage because if initial contact is about three yards. Beyond the line of scrimmage. You're in trouble and i can promise you that. Let's hear david. Kelly said about the type of defense l. Approach this game with well assignment wise. I thought a couple of times we got out of her gaps We gotta we gotta play gap control. Defense are upfront. People's gotta be especially when we do stunts. And those kinds of things they popped a couple cutler runs on us when we were kind of out of out of gaps a little bit and we've got correct and i think it'd be correct that would be more consistent and be able to do that. And what he means people okay. What does that mean well in special teams and the similarities are while ones in the open field and one's in a little more tight quarters that that guys who study special teams. He special teams coaches. If you watch and you'll watch an instant replay when a guy takes a plate of the house or on a hunt but normal. Let's say kickoff. You know the the the everybody's got an area there's supposed to be and it's drawn up worked on all week every now and then running down that field balls kicked to the left corner on a kickoff guy catches at the goal line at initially the number three on the right side of the number four on the right side coming down and you know what he thinks. I'm across this hash. Mark wherever he supposed to be chasing that return. It does what they seem the there. Now they've seen the other team on tape and how. They approach a kickoff to their so what they do. They start right at puts his foot in the ground and all of a sudden you let that guy run and you hook him and gave me three yards of space and those guys return kickoffs pretty fast right and you get through that gap and doesn't need to be much gone same thing in a run game where all of a sudden you get a little greedy a take an inside charge if you're a three technically the outside shoulder tackle of the guard. And you're the defensive tackle and you just take a step down guy pushes down. Guess what the whole is right where you're supposed to be and it may only be a yard half yard but those guys are so good and then you reach back with an arm and they run through a forum. Tackle second level now in trouble. That's what he means gap control. You must not be a hero this week. Hero means you try to make every play chase the guy down on that and you know they do then they reverse it and come back the other way and you break contain and you're done has to be a very aware against the best running football combo in the league. We'll come back. We'll ask jeff schwartz about it as well. He was an offensive lineman. His brother's been an all pro offensive. Linemen how do you adjust to this and detects chance and the college football situation. Jeff schwartz next formidable. French sean salisbury. This is the sean salisbury. Show turn sportstalk seventy my next guest. Great dude funny smart. Brilliant when it comes to his approach and a longtime nfl offensive lineman played eight years leaked pac twelve the damn fortune to join him every week on his show. Sirius xm 373 confided does nfl on sirius. Xm does fox sports. You see him on. Tv's and author. Eat my schwartz. A matter of fact like our previous guests an hour an hour go tiki barber. These dudes do everything and jeff schwartz. One of the best in the business grateful to have in monte can talk at all here on sports talk seventy jeff. Welcome and let me start here. Should the texans fans. I know they'd be jacksonville now. Headed to cleveland. Is it fool's gold football for the texans. I mean just right on the your win. Total was four four and a half right now as augustine. Assuming this shawn watson wasn't gonna play I actually picked the texans to win. This past week is jacksonville and felt like situation. Where the entire betting public was on jacksonville. Who is poorly coach team with quarterback who's never played before his roster is not very good now going to cleveland. And you're thinking of browsing the ross off a pretty bad loss. I think the first half you might catch them Slipping a little bit kind of in this hangover from week. One loss the chiefs but in the end the texans still ross is not very good And you're probably gonna win a lot of games but he's just started fast and there's white on the team which is important especially since really all talked about was the son watson for so many months so yeah i mean it's it's fool school right. You don't have an answer quarterback right now on the roster walk mocking a play. Which is the only real future you have any team is. Your quarterback is so But we'll say they'll four. It's much turmoil. There has been in houston at least nationally. It does. I would imagine it feel good to get a win right like right. Start off with a win and still good about the The the dresses. He's had to go to a lot the past couple months as he navigates his first opportunity to head coach. I'm sure it felt good. But i i think houston's probably gonna win about what they're four or five games if they play up. They both play their best football. What's the talent difference between the two teams between houston and cleveland. Yeah i mean offense alive. Defense line.

"There was a run. That took place in the Colts. Right? The Colts vs Panthers game. Yeah, and I forget the name of the runner. Um heck of Iran, an old angry run. Which brings me to point out that Kyle Brandt will be on the show on Wednesday is our first guest on Wednesday's show, Benny LeMay, Benny LeMay, Anyone? What? Well, he found out what you may not. Do you know, in the NFL, and that is fine. Uh huh. Have fun. Well, it's not fun. They don't want you looking down at somebody and doing anything you don't if you're going to celebrate Turn around. Look at Look away! Come on! Don't hideous! Look away! Look away the Kool Kris Brockman. What are we doing right now? Thank you. What? What are we doing here? Carry like seven dudes. What It sounds like what it sounds like is an owner or two in the competition committee is watching from wherever he is watching or She is watching. And wherever their family members are watching, um and thinking that stinks. That shouldn't be in our in our game, and they made a call. From the competition committee and had it approved That we're going to cut this stuff out now. Remember when they made a rule about the celebration. Penalties, No props. Remember that can't use props. Can't use the height of Chad doing all that was hard of. Yeah, Chad, taking the Pylon and using it as like a mini potter writes. All of those were the good old. They can't use the ball as a prop. Can't go to the ground can't go anything. I remember. I went up to my son's cell phone. Remember, I went up. I went up to Mike Pereira, who was the head of NFL refs at the time. And I remember I saw Mike this is in Tampa, Florida. I remember this exactly happened where it happened, because I was right. I'm like You're making a mistake, and his response to me was well, you need to then reach out to all the Youth football and high school coaches. The letters that we get from them saying you guys need to knock it off because it's happening at our level. And it's it's teaching. Kids the wrong thing to do. So you need to help us out. And I'm wondering, I don't know I haven't reached out. I don't know for sure. I'm wondering if this might be a, uh Coming from that. Spirit intent as well. I don't know. All I know is that if you are sitting at home and having the same reaction as T, J, Jefferson and Brockman And saying that this is Awful and No fun and anything like that. The good news is the preseason is the moment in which you see a flag for Benny LeMay. Rennie LeMay, That's you See the flag now. To let everybody know. Knock it off. Don't think you're going to see it in the regular season. If you see if you remember remember a couple years ago, the point of emphasis was something to do with making sure that the player hits in the right spot. And the and the defense that the rule of emphasis was. It's on you as the defender to find the right strike zone and in the preseason, all sorts of flags were coming out and you're like, Oh, my God, and there was one preseason weekend, I think was about four or five years ago. People were going nuts. How terrible is this going to bear? And then the regular season starts and we don't see the same thing to running back. Put their head down, right? What? They're running back with their head down the running back, initiating contact outside of the chatting with a penalty on the running back, and we're all flipping out. And then it really didn't materialize in the regular season. The problem is is when the point of emphasis stuff goes a little overboard in the regular spree season, it still goes into the regular season. That's when Tom Brady has to tweet out during the middle of a Thursday night game. All these holding penalties are insane. It makes the game unwatchable, and then it goes away went away. So so weird. If you think the taunting stuff is beyond the pale And the No fun league. Wait till next week. In the preseason, you're going to see my predictions. You're going to see it tons more next week. Where they're telling the officials, you see anything of a player flexing, barking, looking, staring down at an especially down at an opponent opponent down on ground. Player flexing, staring, barking standing above, said player. An eye contact is made. That's your 15 yard penalty, And I bet you every single coach in every single Meeting room. Is pointing out Benny LeMay to everyone saying, Knock it off. If you want to flex and bark, turn around and do it away from the guy you just beat right then we're cool. And I know you think this might be a little too much. I don't know where it's coming from. That's my prediction. And if it does get too much during the regular season, have Tom Brady tweeted about it fixed gun? That's what happened a couple years ago. That's a fact. The point of emphasis on holding already tweeting out. This is unwatchable. Finished poof like Keyser Soze. A 21 years 26 years ago gone Do you know 85% of people who played daily fantasy sports lose is really that surprising..

"I don't believe he's going to have it. And the fact that cam. Newton's cut matt jones starts now in new england giving us three week one rookie starters three and we're all just excusing san francisco with kyle shannon because scowl shan an has that cachet and needed to go to the super bowl two years ago and they all start in. That guy went to the super bowl with them. Two years ago and lance we know is going to get in there just in fields gonna be there with a clipboard. Earbud standing there on sunday night. Football while andy dalton takes the slings and hours of the los angeles rams defense. Andy dalton says. It's his time it better be his time. Because if not that pressure is going to be jacked up and the guy who sat trubisky for foles last year and put folds in when trubisky was technically in the win. Loss column winning quarterback. That guy is going to sit back and try to be patient. I don't think he's going to have that luxury. That's not gonna happen then. Wendy put him in there when you put them in there telling you deep end of the pool for somebody who's been through it unless you don't think again but i already gave you the reality on the ground that you need to see to sit your rookie starter. You need to see a run game. That can't protect him. An offensive line that can protect him and his inability to protect himself because of defensive schemes. Confusing him that may be the one that sits fields as you saw him get blown up. A preseason game against the bills lost his helmet. Run gain can protect. The line might not be able to. I don't know only knows that we haven't even played a down with andy. Dalton is a starter in chicago. And he's trending because there are bears fans who want to happen now and that is a metric in the decision making skills for guy. Who's you know. Couple years removed from his coach of the year award. But doesn't have the wherewithal there's no in we trust in chicago like there is a new england. What pressures bill and feel from the outside zero urban zero shanahan zero robert sala even with the new york jets zero. This one's a different ball of wax. Not amazing how it works. But it's that's how it works. That's no joke. People are freaking out over the weekend over The first initial application of the new emphasis in the national football league from the officiating department. So there are new rules that are instituted. And then there are the dreaded emphasis emphasis points of emphasis. And what the league will say is. The rules are on the book. Were just making sure that we will emphasize this gets called. And this year. The old point of emphasis is the taunting palling fifteen yards for taunting and There was a run that took place in the colts. Right the colts vs panther's game. "They haven't had the turmoil of maybe some other nfl nba franchise but now tone. If you have a superstar. We seeing stars in the state of texas forced their way out of there. So you luka doncic can't do it if he's happy with who's coaching him and running the franchise. Of course he can't. I don't know specifically where this has been a problem. Percolate a little bit and now it's percolate in a lot so let's deal with this like adults who own the dallas mavericks. You have to go to luka doncic and you have to ask him. Is this okay with you. Because if it isn't he's going to leave. I love riccar loud. He now volts to the head of the line of every single coaching in the league. He gets whatever job he wants to get. Kenny gets a new coach. Mike you can always get a kayak and you can always get a gm. You can't always get luca danni so why have to assume that. Luka doncic has given his blessing to rick carlisle not being anymore because his absent. He's gone the first opportunity and then dallas into of the nba. That's what looked against read about a row. Rick carlisle who who. Who i've known since he was at the university of virginia playing basketball with ralph sampson among others and tony. That is what luka doncic didn't give his blessing to us and being fired which is what happened okay. He didn't give his blessing to that. So there's some. I mean there's some real big fences to mend right now in dallas and all the players are going to become available again. If i was the milwaukee bucks i would send a g six right now for rick carlisle. I haven't on a bench tonight. Wimbledon up to you ge- names roffe on the dow withdrew from the tournament and the olympics. This morning saying he's listening to his body prolong his career and they only soccer team announced this afternoon. She will also miss wimbledon in order to take time with family and friends but she will play in the olympics. Let's take them one at a time. We'll does the dolls decision. Make you feel more bullish or bearish prospects little dolls winding up naomi. Osaka is still taking off. I mean they're totally different places. And their reasons for withdrawing are different. I mean you know. We talked about this with the dow. We hinted at this past week earlier. You know coming out of the french open lee. Plays like a linebacker right. I mean he is not light on. You know like peter pan know of which i mean. So he needs to. He understands what he needs to do for his body to be ready for these things and talk has a completely different reason. She talked about dealing with anxiety dealing with depression that tony leads into her thinking her decision making although the olympics are different matter. I'm sure their contractual ties given she is the wealthiest female athlete. So these are very different circumstances in the dow. It's kind of like federal federal. Took some time off. He won a couple of times towards the end of that when he came out of it. Now we'll see if the dollar this fortunate yes. One is dealing with physical issues and one is dealing with emotion. One is looking at the end of his career and one is looking at the beginning of her career and trying to maintain equilibrium to have a long. She has to play in the olympics. she's japanese. She has to play in the olympics. it's in japan. I understand that it's very possible. If the olympics were somewhere else she would say. I'm gonna shut it down and take a whole bunch of time off but i don't think that's possible. Naomi osaka case being japanese. In as you make a very good point in two thousand sixteen. I think it was when roger federer was thirty. Five which is dollars aol. He dropped out of the olympics. He dropped out of the french open. He came back dropped. Dropped out of the. us open. he came back. He won the australian at an advanced age. Didn't go to the french and won. Wimbledon so probably said when people say i'm listening to my body. That's an ominous sign in. Means they see the end of a career and if he shuts it enough he can always win the french. It seems to me. But i told you like during the match with joke of attacks that you said boy the dow's up five one any looks old. He does not. He's smooth but the isn't there. That's he's awful bites his old. Let's take a break coming up. What should the mets to about jacob to guam and his sore pitching shoulder and jose iglesias. He made two more remarkable plays which one was better wasn't stories today. These are good stories. I expect that carlyle thing at all. Tony yes i'll get the show dallas mavericks. I mean there's some stuff going on. Pardon the interruption is brought to you by disney and pixar luca streaming this friday on disney. Plus.

"There's ever been and i do. I do agree. I do agree. A little bit of history. Mike mcdaniels he was in houston with kyle. Shanahan when they did quarterbacks wide receivers is that he's been all over the positions on the offense you went within the washington and atlanta and we're cried receivers in cleveland in the came here and worked his way up with wide receivers and running backs and and he got himself a job as office coordinator by being a very trusted loyal and abstract thinker. He's he says you know if he had to pick one thing he would say that. He's a abstract thinker on the offense ex to think outside the box would here. What would work there. And when he was asked if he ever gets input on play calling he he answered with something that i didn't really understand about coach shannahan. I always kind of thought shanahan was. This is my team. You guys just learned for me. I got all the notes. I work till three. Am last night coming up with the game plan for this. You guys look at over and tell the guys but apparently. It's a very cohesive room. it's very much. every single. Coach has say every single trainer every single player every single person on that staff that going out there on the field on game day they all have a say they all get to explain what they see. An coach. Shannahan is so good at taking their input and filtering through his mind or the game and using what he thinks will work in not using what he thinks. Won't mike daniels said that he's really good at. He'll take the information and if it doesn't work he doesn't hold you accountable. He doesn't lose trust in you because at the end of the day he knows that it's his choice to play. Because you're just thinking and that's all he wants you to do as a coach on that team is just think. Think think think think think think and eventually he will use some of those ideas and sometimes he won't and i liked that i liked the cook. Shanahan has earned the respect from the staff around him because it's just an attribute out gradients and of coordinator. Mike daniels this press conference. You can see through him through. Just how much of a fan of any is. He's he loves the way he thinks. He loves the way he coaches in. He can tell he's learned in emulated the game as much as he can and he's earned enough. Trust emulated enough of that. Coaching prowess for four one of the greater minds on offense to be like. Hey you're going to be offensive. Coordinator is gonna be your name on the building when they say. Hey off cordinator drew five touchdowns. They're gonna they're gonna give you credit and he makes he makes it very clear that he is humbled by this and he is humbled by how shanahan bringing him along for fourteen years. You've had a working relationship like that. You're you're not just work friends. You're not just brothers on the football field. You guys are best friends in. It's really cool to see. The shanahan never lost sight of what helped get where he was. When it comes to the certain pieces that he's always had. And i love seeing that. It's part of that gel. That makes the forty niners what they are and i'm looking forward to seeing that continue i'm looking forward to see mike mcdaniel groza coordinator..

"It's a self, it's a self-sustaining job at the end of the day and then like after if you go beyond dick harp, it's William Hamilton who I don't know anything. About, let's just be very clear about that, but the coach before that is fog Allen who has the, like, damn Court named after him, so that helps. Yeah, like I said, it's just a, the reason that it's ahead of Duke is that it's all of the same amenities. All of the same home court advantage. Has all of the same resources, money pumped into the program, National brand, maybe you can make a case that like Duke is the national brand of college basketball. Whereas Kansas is like a top-five national brand. I don't parse hairs with that. That's fine. But every single coach at Kansas has had a ridiculous. Right? Right. But that's kind of Voters. Same thing I always say, it's unfair because Coach K just been there for for so long, but when you're there, since nineteen eighty, it's like you didn't even have the opportunity for those next rung, tear of guys to show them. You can also do this at Duke. Yeah, I get that. I think that's reasonable. I also went back to 1956. Yeah. You dog. But like I totally get that and I think it's like completely responsible for you to bring that up number to North Carolina. I'll let you take the lead on North Carolina. I went back and forth initially with Due North Carolina, Kansas what that was because yes, it is splitting hairs. And if those I mean, North Carolina, just did open, the kept in the family with elevated, Hubert Davis Duke and Kansas game on would be significant for really upper tier head. Coaches maybe Envy guys trying to get those jobs with North Carolina. The pay was very good. I'm sure super David so being paid well 20,000 fans at night 7 national championships. You have the Michael Jordan affiliation. You have the Mystique of the dean Dome, the history of Dean Smith there, you get kids on campus and they can breed dog. And that this is a place that that Michael Jordan played the national championships were won. You're in a great area, you are the show. It's not a football school, this is a basketball school. There's everything that you would need as a recruiting tool in phase at that school. Then I would say almost anywhere else. Then maybe the the number one school in the list. I think it's very close with Duke but I did. I did see of North Carolina a little bit of an odd. I think all three of these are just so close. Like it's really splitting hairs. The reason that I I gave North Carolina, the nod was just like a history of Pros vs Duke's history of pros. And I think that as we enter an era where more and more kids only care about getting to the NBA wage that it wouldn't surprise me if like North Carolina being to pitch, being able to pitch. Michael, Jordan Etc, is a little bit more effective than Duke but Duke is also built like wage National brand on, like, the one in done, right? Yeah. It's, it's, you have Zion Williamson. You have Brandon world..

"Twice. So let's let's thousand. Three hundred people do in it so are going to get to five thousand students right. That's our goal so when we get to five thousand five thousand students if each one of those people have twenty clients at one hundred thousand lives. That's the next three years with five thousand students at the coach academy if each one of those students is twenty. And that's like that's fucking low low. I feel like that's low. Like twenty clients per student is low. I know that crystal has eight hundred students by herself yet. But that's a hundred thousand lives that we impact in the next and that's like and then those hundred thousand people are going to go out and become better people in like we're like we're literally fucking like creating got were a dent in the universe like we're making the universe a better place like we're like forcing it open bag be more positive. Be more healthy. Doing where exactly. What the fuck we wanted to do from day one. We became finished coaches because we wanted to impact and help people live happier. healthier stronger. Lives and i feel like that's another reason why the tank academy is so successful and why the doing so well because we have come from a place that these coaches wanted to do. We understand what. It's like to build their fitness coaching businesses and like really expand them to help people for a deeper reason so taking that same culture and putting it into every single coach that comes into our program and everything is just exploding. Impact is fucking insane and we love it dude. I wanna talk a little bit about like some adversity that we faced as well because like obviously the tank academy had a huge curveball This year when we had to let go of like somebody that was like one of our closest friends was going to be open and talk about it. Because i know that like a lot of guys were curious about it and wanted to know why but like at the tinky coaching academy like we've built a.

"It's good it's good. I mean we're We're loosening up a little bit as we go. We were kinda quarantined to our room for a spell and then we were allowed to move around on the floor and then we're allowed to go downstairs and eat downstairs together so it's we actually had practice last night so we are making progress brother. I hear that i hear that. It is a process and making progress. I had to practice. Go what was it like everybody on the floor together. Great great they were. They were very enthusiastic about being able to get on the floor practice with each are. It's it's been awhile been a while hugging. It's been a lot. Let me ask you something. You your three seed and you're gearing up for another ncaa tournament and you've had so many great runs but before we get into that. I need to know how rewarding have been for you to come home and not only coach at west virginia but to elevate that program to national prominence to approve the improved facilities and the outlook. The way you have. What's it been like to return home. Well obviously i love the place. I i was born in morgantown. My mom and dad both born in morgantown grayson morgantown and Be able to come back to the university. that's graduate from. I think especially for everybody. But i think particularly special for me because my relationship with the people in the state and it's just been it's been great and we've been fortunate enough to make some runs and people crowd so that's kind of what i wanted to and that's exactly what you're doing. I'm gonna ask him about that. Run in a minute or your next potential run but as a great coach bob. I know you'll tell me you can't win without great players. And i will agree with you so i need to hear you break down yourself as a player because as an example. You've seen it and there's been a lot of talk about that. Espn dot com piece where they rank every single coach according to their playing ability. They've got you number nine out of sixty eight right behind. Martin and lon kruger but ahead of florida's mike white. What's your reaction to that. Does that sound about right to you. a little. or they're probably a little low Account all the things i was able to do. But i'm thiessen. I don't don't i don't walk that back. I like where you're going with that. I think you know it's it's it's very subjective. Very subjective we had guys on there that guy. You're very familiar with. That really. didn't play because he hurt his knee. He was my sister once he couldn't play when it could play man. It is subjective and those lists are just there to talk about. But i don't maybe maybe it's because you and i go way back and maybe i'm getting older and i don't see things remember things clearly. I'm just taking you over. Juwan patrick ewing both hug. No no no those guys. I mean those. Two guys national champions. Actually that was. That was a world champion. So all right so he all right so i'll put him ahead of you or slot him ahead of you but joon below you you know what's funny hog. Well maybe not so funny but when you came out of west virginia you had a shot with the seventy sixers. And there's this amazing story about how you found out whether or not you made the team. Maybe you think folks know that story but not everybody does who told you. And what did they say out of mexico. Who was the trainer There were three of us in the locker room. Number one number two pick herman harris myself and he walked in he said as they do in philly said Yawns wanna never made it. Who didn't make of course both those guys jumped up and said just tell us who made it man just tells us mad. He said none of 'em efforts and ran out the door and he was a he was kind of comical kinda guy so you know they thought he was. They thought he was. Just you know making fun. He doesn't come back so pretty soon. They run out there running up and down the hall trying to find him find out if he was joking. Or if it was real. I was getting up All the gear. That i could get stuff done a bag for mementos and i was out of there i was gone. I know why hug because you knew. Unlike elliott and harris they may have been better players. But you were smarter. You knew time was now this guy. He was the trainer right and is the story goes did he or did he not look like arthur affonso rally. Well they call him the phones. They called him the phones because he he did he. Yeah go ahead go ahead. It was good. But i mean we're talking about could i make it. I mean they had doug collins world be free. Henry bibby plays Rather full yeah right so you got the fawns all right the fonz comes in and says do wanna know which you guys made the team and these guys like. Yeah i want to know and font said quote none of you. Mother fuckers any ran out the room and didn't come back. It's really funny flown center. What his accent too right. So yeah really out store and no one can find him and there was nobody around now. I mean Coach mcmahon was gone. They were all going. Gm everybody was gone or sinus. College couldn't find a soul next point hug like that. The coach the coach or the gm did not have the decency to let you know you got cut by the fawns who f. and ran out the door man. That's that's just wrong. I was. I was good with it. I i still have some of that gear. What's great about this as you were good with it and then a few decades later. I'm not good with it but all right that's cool. That's fine you know hug you. You are like a coach's coach while you're the son of coach but you you love the profession so much and you love the guys who came before you and you love the guys who come after you and there's so many great stories like take jimbo vinyl this guy that you absolutely want to spend some time with what made jim valvano so unique for those who do not know in. What was it like when you finally caught up with him. That first time it got to spend time with him. He could stay up at night as long as i could. Is that code for. What did you guys drink together The coat i mean we we were. Actually we got a We got a Some matches and we were. We had to match us when we started five of them and and so that we had to read matches the red match tops and the black man stop so we knew who was who and where we were moving these matches around when we were talking about. You know how to play a different a different zone or whatever. We were talking about that and he said to me afterwards he said you know what this has been really a lot of fun. I i really don't do this very much. So it was kinda neat. Why like at that on some level of kind of surprises me. Mana guy was just hit so much it and he loved the game so much and he loved coaching so much. It kind of surprises me. He didn't do that so much. Why is that well. i think he got into. I mean he was probably the most sought after speaker country for for quite a while and he and he had his own tv show. If you remember he had a lot of things going on. I mean it's amazing that he bound saudi balanced and was good at everything he did. As was you know hug. I wanna talk to you about a little bit of big west. Because my background you may recall. I went to uc santa barbara at a time when talking i wanna ask about when. Unlv was all their glory. But jerry pam who came to uc santa barbara bush started schedule. Big time big time programs when we were on our way up and i remember jim valvano coming into our building and keep in mind. Our building hug had six thousand seats and man jimmy v. larger than life i. We're all in awe. Like i cannot believe this guy is in our house and just living so large. He was amazing. I mentioned coaches my guy. Chris beard absolutely loves. You just loves you love everything you represent. I gotta get your thoughts on my guy. Crispier what do you.

"That's so disingenuous guys wednesday. I'm going to tell you a story about this week. Wednesday i had. It was like the busiest. It was like the busiest had my entire life and one of the commitments. That i made this week was that i was going to show up in full power for every coaching call. Which meant that. This livestream that i have the check ins that have after every single coaching. Call that. I showed up. My goal is to show up in full power and so on wednesday. I had six back to back to back to back to back. Calls and each of them were about an hour to an hour and a half long but i made the commitment to show up every single day in full power to every single call and it was the hardest thing i've ever done. Because like those guys that go live consistently no like when you go live. Just drains your energy like especially if you go live a lot in a day like it's exhausting but i'm so fucking disciplined that i showed up to every single coaching call single live in full power with this much energy for six hours straight. And that's what the fuck it takes. Because i'm going to be honest with you guys. The week voice inside of me wanted to cancel and wanted to like be like man over committed myself. Maybe i should just take a break. Maybe i should cancel some of these calls. So i can show up some of them in full power. But then there's this little fucking voice inside of me that's like yo be mark's show up like you said you were going to show up. You said you were going to do something and you need to start listening to that voice if you wanna be successful at guys if you wanna be a high performer. I'm gonna give you a secret to being a high performer ready. You need to know what your own bullshit. Straight up tune it out. I want you guys to imagine all of your excuses and reasons for why you're not where you wanna be as a frequency that you're tuned into right now. It's like a frequency right. It's like a frequency of like on too busy with school right now. I can't work on my business. Or i'm not good at tiktok. That's why i'm not getting on there. Because i don't know how to edit videos or closes in new app for me and i'm so confused and i'm outside of my comfort zone or i'm not video that's why i'm not getting a live streamer. I'm not good at social media. That's why i'm not post. I want you to imagine your bullshit excuses as this frequency that you're tuning into and your accepting as a reality right now right now magical these excuses as a frequency or tune into now understand that the real truth. I want you guys to write this down. If you're taking notes the real truth is always buried beneath bullshit. The real truth is always buried beneath the bullshit and the real truth on finnish coach. You fucking note. You know like we know when we're not performing at the level that we want to. We know you know if you're not being consistent on social media you know if you're not being consistent on tiktok you know if you're not getting on clubhouse you know if you're not posting on infamous coaches you know you also know when you're being lazy with your finished ernie like you know you're fucking sleeping in you know you're making excuses and the like you're tuned into the bullshit frequency in your accepting it as a reality but you need to start listening to that little voice inside of you the truce that little fucking voices inside man. Maybe you're sleeping in a little bit too much..

"Just stop on by All right, so let's get into this eagle situation. Remember when about a week ago, Doug Peterson decided to get Nate sudden some charity refs and that one scoring game against a divisional rival remember how his explanations after the fact made no sense whatsoever. But then again, they didn't really have to, because he already knew that he was safe. I mean, what could they really do to this guy? He won Philadelphia their first Super Bowl ever. He did. So only three years earlier. I mean, sure, there was some issues. Fact there are a lot of issues. But Peterson had certainly banked enough goodwill to get the opportunity to fix the issues themselves. So he was good, right? Turns out he had not banked enough goodwill. Turns out that ring and all those horse crap. Sandoz that the fans were slamming is attributable Dougie didn't mean a damn thing. Or at least not enough to save his gig because Doug got himself fired yesterday. You want to talk about a filly special? The guy who was the king of misdirection just got misdirected right out of a job. One of the most unbelievable career turns ever again. The guy won a Super Bowl in February, 2018. And is out on the streets in January of 2021. Me again. I know every single coach ever is hired to be fired. But this guy won a Super Bowl in his second season with a backup quarterback on one of the brasses play calls in NFL history. And he's packing up a cardboard box right now. That's amazing. He won the first Super Bowl in franchise history. There's a statue of this guy in Philly and now his name is getting taken off a parking spot at the facility. He went from having fans eating horse crap. Getting kicked to the curb. I mean, do you remember Jason Kelsey in that mummers gear hyping Doug Peterson at the parade. I know I do. When don't Pierce there was hired. He was right. It is the worst coaching higher by a lot of freaking eyeless out there in the medium. Offseason shut, clown.

"every single coaching" Discussed on KOA 850 AM

"I appreciate the compliment on Twitter from the explosion just said I don't have access to the text line right now. So you have the film? Yeah. Yeah, but anyway, so you could vote on that Have a little fun. Let's let's hear from Vic Fangio. So Interesting situation for Vic Fangio right? Because he goes from being the head coach, which he's been And now he's shifting a little bit more just a little bit more into the personnel side. But the fact is in Vicky been points this out. Don't know if it's in the sound bite her in the one He points it out that If you're a good organization you're using Your head coach in part Of building your roster, right? I mean, I make it only makes sense. Why wouldn't you want the input from your head Coach? On what he needs to win. Simple right, so, but it is funny how there are some people that do subscribe to the idea that the GM picks the team of the coach coaches, the team. Look the most successful teams in the league right now. It's not like that. The coaches have input. There is an organizational direction if you can believe that. Have more on that the first years. Vic Fangio, talking about his greater role in personnel as he's gonna be, in part hiring a new GM. Well, we've had a role in it here, you know the last two years. I think that will depend upon you know who we hire, how they envisioned running the evaluation process. But you know, in this day and age with the teams Changing so much, even year to year. Even the really good teams teams, not with records, you know it proves Tonto have the coaches involved. Also, there's a vision. In a consensus of how the player fits exactly, but it's funny when I was listening to that earlier today, and it's such a Simple concept. But the Broncos have changed coaches so many times that that Message means something different to every single coach. That would have said it What? Gary Kubiak will, starting with John Fox with Peyton Manning. You know John Fox in John Elway, then to Gary Kubiak. With John Elway, then to Vance Joseph, with John Elway. And now the Vic Fangio. You get the input from each of your coaches on what they need to win. And you're changing philosophies constantly. If you're really following that, So then it's any wonder why you have taken so long to finally build the talent. On the roster to actually have some optimism that it's going eventually pay off because what Vance Joseph needed to win is not necessarily what Victor and you'll be looking for the win, would it No, they're not. They're different In terms of what personnel personnel. You're talking about the types of players. The personalities you want in your locker room, right? So Vance Joseph didn't care of his DBS could hit. He just wanted to cover Vic Fangio's Pacific Fangio once his DBS to hit because you're keeping the play in front of You gotta be a sure tackler. Social responsibility there. Um, you know, Vance Joseph. That didn't really care if his linebackers could cover. They're coming downhill. That's why you had Todd Davis. You know, Vic Fangio uses linebackers to be go away, be able to go away from the ball because he doesn't want to send that much pressure. It's Yeah, it's it's basically entirely different philosophies s. Oh, yeah, You're right. It is theirs and what those coaches need your cooking different dishes. Yeah, You need different ingredients. So then. The bigger question. The bigger point He comes Is Vic Fangio, the right guy to give maybe even a little bit more of that, as they bring in the new GM because you don't want too many cooks in the kitchen, right? You want. You want to make sure that the right voices were saying the right things and making the right decision is the right time. Right? So I mean, you don't want to all of a sudden we're adding a new GM. And then we're giving Vic Fangio more the John Elway still hanging over all of that, and he's got the final standing like you want to be very careful about mixing that soup. So how does how do you envision that looking? I don't think that's the way you look at. I think you look at it is you've got a head coach has been in the league 40 years. Has worked with a lot of general managers and know what knows what bad general manager Shit looks like. It. Fangio's job is gonna be won or lost by how Vic Fangio coaches on the field. It's not going to be won or lost by who he decides that general manager is, if he's going to be the ultimate decision maker. He's gonna have input. Got away from whatever you think of him was an excellent player. It has a very high winning percentages of general manager. He's made some correct decisions. Despite this rebuild, not being able to find the quarterback was his flaw. That doesn't mean that he was terrible that everything because he wasn't So there's another guy with 10 years of general manager experience in the NFL. Not including the apparently arena league time that everyone forgot about for some reason Championship, right Winning, right? Yeah. Um And you know, however long even how long was your player against 17 years. The player He's probably gonna have some advice on what bad general managers look like versus decent general managers. And so you want them to be involved in that process. That doesn't mean that their fingerprints are gonna be on the new general manager isn't going to take a job or he's a puppet. He's going to take a job where he's like, Look, this is my the culmination of my life's dream. I'm gonna take a job and I'm gonna be the man you're this is a resident building moment for you. It's a resume building moment for for hopefully this team and beyond, In fact, Micro cause of that..

NBA teams kneel during national anthem as season restarts

"Night, the embassy isn't got underway. And of course, there was a lot of attention being brought to what would happen during the national anthem. There were two games last night, and everybody kneels every single player, every single coach, even the officials. They all take a knee for solidarity with the national anthem. So I was curious as to what the broadcasters of the game on TNT, Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley had to say, kind of surprising, actually, listen to Charles Barkley's response here. You're going to hear from shack first and then Charles Barkley type of God. They say you should do is you should do that. Everyone has their own platform. You know they're on their own brand. I'm proud of every one. And my thing is Listen. That's not the mean different things to different people. I'm glad these guys all unified where the people people don't kneel. You're not a bad person. I want to make that perfectly clear. I'm glad they had unity. But if we have a guy who doesn't want to kneel called the After me some to him, he should not be vilified. Listen

What's Wrong With Arsenal?

"We start in the premier league when the government were trying to get things back to normal with regards to football winning, and they said it would lift the morale of the nation. Nation not if you're an arsenal fan, another defeat today heads a discussion Juliana wrong. Frank leboeuf and Stevie Nickel Stephen of that defeat against city. I thought Ryan Okay. You know it's a tough game since you're a good team. They're going to bounce back now against Brighton side. Who let's not forget haven't won a game this year yet. Go on to lose by two goals to one. What happened. What happened is what's been happening. Over the last. Three years. Maybe even longer you know, the The Times can do some good things I mean. pepys goal for example. Just a piece of individual brilliance, but unfortunately you only ever see it again and that kind of what asked Noah if he had to that another waffle defensive performance. I mean this team has nobody can even send danger the goal from the corners ridiculous to V one nobody nobody even notices to be one, and then, of course it's the second ball is well. It's the same old problems for us. No. Because it's the same team. It's the same players and until that changes you can expect NFL. Well the unexpected because we know what you're going to get from Oslo isn't changing. I didn't think it was going to change that much an game against Brighton and I don't see ginger much for the rest of the season of. The players they had outlet. Today should be good enough to Brighton. Yes, I think so I think. Did it well in a way that they I think doing eighty. The game and they are changes The across ball and and Ryan meets a made some good saves, but. I think we have to review the expectation that we have on the on the governor's. We keep the track on Moody Wear and not who they are, and and the club is not where it used to be, and those players were in on the field, and not the players that we used to see, and it's clear that A. Lack of consistency, there is a lack of performances defensively. It's quite a nightmare, and when you used to have fantastic players, international worldwide players at the the stadium and before Highbury, you want to see the same thing, but these are not the same players, and also is not the same the same team that he used to be and we. We saw that today where the can't keep a score. The of our time to school. Keep it and then at the end the surprise with with another another one two very good one, too, but like of. Mocking lack of course and tradition to even just drew a game against Brighton. That's welcoming, asked him apologists now to the shows Yuliana Ron Joel's. How'd you spend this? Like well like the boys of just said I think there's a there's a lack of efficiency in both books Tuesday's quite. Outstanding really when you think about the they they an I've been three ended up with the psycho. He teamed across bond in like two big chances, the first one brought by Deng and the second one stop by by Ryan and obviously has a big impact on the game. And then when you see the concede, because oftentimes right at the end is acceptable the where you can see the two goals, the first one on, said the second one by the end, which of course move really demi into one two, and and there's a lack of leadership again is quite. Quite important that team has been for years, but again you see these time, and you know what you even more when you can hear the players King, because you also game tonight like on Wednesday night and if you, if you don't put the fake nose up from the crowd, and she just listened to the players you can tell there's no. There's no leading that on the defensive said there's no one. Shall we taking one him who to mark where to go what to do, and nothing of the ship is a big problem as well. Isn't that something that? Could've addressed earliest TV is. Going right, this is what we're going to do for set pieces. This is your role. He's got to be at four in these sort of situation surely. Unfortunately down. You don't understand the mentality of your professional football. Just because you tell somebody with the and the situation doesn't mean the do when my most and that is. The first goal is a classic example because. Every single coach will will. Do set pc's against, and you will organize if they have to men. We will organize the one that will be to begin with. And then the second one will be told he has to go. So. Basically you rely on on players Dune as they're
