Dallas Cowboys can’t find trade partner, release Poe, Worley

"And on Wednesday morning it was first reported by NFL network that the cowboys were going to cut AKA release d'oro early Dante Poe if they did not find trade suitors before the day was over well guess what there were. No sooners no. Trade. Was To be had the Dallas cowboys wound up releasing both Ontario and early and so the cowboys free agency class does not live. Great. Obviously, Joe McCoy got hurt and was released again a little bit of a particular issue there ha ha Clinton dix didn't even make the team for the regular season obviously Everson Griffen was traded Darryl Worley Dante repoed the latest cuts moist Kennedy opted out. I it is rough. The cowboys did bringing Alden Smith Oh in free agency and that history paid off Greg or line was a member of the free agency class, and maybe you feel good about that it to the watermelon king I suppose but. This. This is where the cowboys are at their purging they're reading. Obviously the NFL trade deadline is next week but due to covid protocols. Teams are moving a little bit more quickly than some might have originally expected but that is the

"Speak to a friend of ours from across the nation network over bleeding cremation later on in the week. So you can look forward to that. You can also look forward to tomorrow in Thursday's episode of the Ocho because a little birdie that we're going to have a very special guest someone who has been on the show before somebody who you likely are aware of so again. That's what you call a tease in the BIZ. So to speak so be ready for Thursday's episode of the show but today today's Wednesday's episode and we have one main thing to talk about the cowboys were of course off on Tuesday but they did pull off something. Incredible. Incredible. But you know it is what it is. At this point on Monday it was reported I by ESPN then my nfl network then the Dallas cowboys were shopping Everson Griffen this is not shocking given the fact the cowboys or two and five I do think that this is a white flag of swords similarly to how Minnesota Vikings traded away Gaga after acquiring him right before the season began but that report was out there ever Sin Griffin if you follow me on twitter, you saw this he liked a tweet on Monday offense saying that he was the most underrated player in the NFL Pay If. He thinks that that's okay. But but the fan was connecting him saying the Buffalo Bill trae forever Griffin. So Everson like that either approved of the fact that he is incredibly underrated or likes the idea of him being traded or likes the idea of the buffalo bills who knows but Everson Griffen was traded on Tuesday. It was reported. He is now a member of the Detroit Lions. That's right. The Dallas. Cowboys. Trading Everson Griffen who they signed less than three months ago to Matt Patricia Squad for a two thousand, twenty, one conditional sixth round draft pick. Now this this pick the conditions for an aren't known at the time that I'm recording this according to about six pm central time on Tuesday. What is known is that this pick could become a fifth round pick for the cowboys. Obviously are met by Everson Griffen during his time with the Detroit Lions. Look like I said, this is what it is. I. Do think this white flag of sorts I do think that the cowboys? Have accepted that this season is not one there's going to end in Confetti. Down, in Tampa, Bay for them and honestly that's good. We all want the garbage, win the Super Bowl, but that's simply not going to happen this year. So you have to focus on the future you have to get the resources that you can to properly build and I. Really I know that morale is low and I'm not trying to put lipstick on. A pig here. But I really applaud this move for the cowboys I. Know You're saying Dude it's a sixth round pick who cares even if it's a round pick, I tell you what the cowboys got something Everson Griffen for about three million dollars I mean and you know I know you don't care about how much money they spend, and so the cowboys signed. Everson Griffen obviously is a free agent and Ray. But the trade him able to establish worth for him. They bought an extra Woolcott a sixth round pick and I applaud the move just because Everson Griffen did not wind up as an all pro for the cowboys does not mean that the move was a failure I hope that the cowboys do not look. At it this way, the cowboys were very smart to bring Everson Griffen we all obviously seriously lauded and applied the move at the time. Certainly, there were question marks about ever since past, but we all thought that the past rush was going to be a strength of steam, and again a lot has happened over the course of the last ninety or so days. But we all thought that everything was kind of a nozzle that group needed to hit the next level and that obviously was not the case. But when you look at the reality of the cowboys are currently two and five Novak Preska. No tarrant myth Lowell, we could go on and on and on forever. So the season is obviously shot I. Know that the NFC East is attainable but nobody you know nobody wants to win the NFC east and lose at home to the saints in the wildcard. Round. Nobody wants that So the fact that the cowboys can recognize the fact that the cowboys have established. Okay. Randy Gregory is back a Bradley. Here those are two players that we can devote though snaps to that. We can see more from in this year that is obviously lost, but still has legitimate football to be played. We talked so much about how you can't emulate those types of conditions in training camp, OTA's or preseason or anything like that, and so the next what nine games are opportunities for both randy in for Bradley, to learn to establish themselves for the cowboys to learn and I. That's why I think this move makes sense in every capacity on. Top of that, you get a six round pick and I like the aggressiveness and the I'm using that word that the cowboys have shown acquiring different players in different capacities I mean, you look at traded a sixth round, pick themselves to get Robert Quinn that really worked out and should net them a compensatory pick. They traded to get Michael Bennett and obviously that kind of work out. But obviously didn't end up with making the playoffs or anything like that, and so every griffin was a similar move of a different variety. Obviously. So I, applaud them for that I applaud them for recognizing that it is not going to work out. Obviously, the trade deadline is next week with the COVID protocols dictate. That so much has to happen ever since I game with the Detroit lions because of the fact that he has to go through all the Cova protocols will ironically. The Minnesota Vikings his team for such a long time before he joined the cowboys and so. Lots of people on twitter saying that the cowboys might not be done trading away players and I think that's smart I. Mean Twenty Twenty s gone. And I know that there's some of you that want to win the division and have a point of pride in that and I respect that but I mean it. Winner. The cowboys, best chances of winning the Super Bowl in two thousand and twenty with Mandy. Maybe there's still no update on him by the way or Bend Nuccio. quarterback Garrett Gilbert or in two thousand and twenty one when Dak Prescott is back when who knows what the status of the offensive line is. The fact that you'll have Prescott back obviously changes that whole thing significantly, you can hear my dog bear. Background. I know Bob it's it's tough that the cowboys aren't the team we want them to be bear actually had been a little campus, some other dogs or the last couple of days. He's got some pent up energy even though he got out but I, think ultimately bear said that the Chicago bears loss on Monday night football but it is what it is and ultimately the cowboys are what they are and I respect that they can acknowledge that and they can start making moves that makes sense and so I'm interested and intrigued to see if the cowboys will. Trade away, any other players I know people want to see Jaylen Smith trade that contract would be difficult to entice someone to take on but. More impossible things have happened. It is Wednesday. Which means you will have new episode of Talk The star available for you. "The Seahawks might be in play for a trade for Dallas defensive end Everson Griffin. The Cowboys did peddle their pass rusher, but to the Detroit Lions for a conditional six round draft choice. Some believe Griffin salary might not fit in the Seahawks cap structure out of football for two years. Former Dallas cowboy receiver Dez Bryant has signed on with the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. The Wisconsin Badgers could be down to a four string quarterback for Saturday's game in Nebraska. Two of their top quarterbacks have tested positive Rickover and under big 10 guidelines have to be isolated 21 days. Meanwhile, the Washington Huskies are building depth and contingency plans in case of Corona virus cases. I think the

"Away from the Dallas Cowboys in sell mode. They've traded defensive end Everson Griffin to the Lions in exchange for 1/6 round pick. The Cowboys. Frustration was evident Tuesday morning, Jerry Jones, making his weekly appearance on a Dallas radio show, try and answer a question about the team's leadership problem. Where would you have a leadership? Or is that an experienced forward? Is it a talent board? Is the latest board. I'm not trying to be cute, but the answer's no. The answer is I'm asking, there's not a willing to shut up money answer. No. Jones later apologized to the host Sean and R. J on 1053 the fan,

Where do the Cowboys go from here? To the trade deadline — but as sellers instead of buyers

"The Cowboys easier to write about when they win or when they lose? Uh, they're easy to write about what they lose. When they win. People feel good. You sell more newspapers when they win. That's a proven thing. So there's that. But, man what you know now, sometimes when they're bad, they're just not interested. And they just kind of go away. Like I don't know what it's like to right about when the Detroit Lions are bad. They probably just people are waiting for the Red Wings to drop the puck. But when the Cowboys are bad, there's usually nine different things in Iraq, And this year there, there might be that might be multiplied. So there's you can just pick out of a hat. And and and go from there. What is Jerry? June Jones do now? You know, one of the really disappointments with serious disappointments, obviously of code. But one of the rial lighter disappointments of this year is that he doesn't do press conferences after every game, because I can't imagine. What level he would have reached yesterday. Um, you know, it's Tze one thing to get beat up by Seattle or airy Arizona's offense. They can't stop the run. With anybody, not the Washington football team. They run for over 200 yards. And if you want to pick one area of the Cowboys that does not beat up my injuries. Their front seven They've got Jalen Smith. They got banned arrest. They've got the Marcus Lords they've got. They've got elegance. They got Everson Griffen. They got Tyrone Crawford. They got guys were supposed to be there, and they can't tackle anybody. And then you have the hit on Andy Dalton and that nobody seems to concern about the chief shot by Jon Bostic. That wasn't it took the announcers of minutes to kind of recognize, but they did eventually, So okay, that's that's a brutal Yep. Be Amari Cooper is standing there and there's others around there had to be a number of players see it. I would think the entire offensive line and to see it. On nothing. Nothing at all. I mean, I can't imagine. If that was Dad getting hit like that that they wouldn't have done something but that that just pointed to the the give up factor of this team they looked like in the first quarter. They're out there to see when it's going to go badly, and you know how much it's going to feel like a ground hog day. They got nothing on either side of the ball, but quitting is worse than losing to him. Yeah. And of course, coaches will always and players will fight. You didn't quit. Everybody has a great attitude by when you see something like that, and when you see it That And when you see a team that just gets gassed in the run and announcers every week, whether it's the money, night crew or yesterday was was Moose. Ah lot of destroyed job back and they get very quickly. The out of position on these place. They really get outflanked quickly without defense. I mean, they're they're talking around the fact that team looks very poorly prepared and has no idea what to do in the players. Never respond if Jerry had to do over coaching. Well, I mean, that's what What was it about Mike McCarthy flying in and spending one night at the Jones house and all they were just so wowed by this guy. They couldn't believe it. Now, what have you seen in any game that he brings? You didn't call the plays so anytime the offense was playing well earlier in the year, That's Kellen Moore is offense. So what is he doing over there that he brings Emily brought in all these coaches? Guys he had in Green Bay 10 years ago. Mike Nolan, who hired him 20 years ago. It's just this. This cronyism tied coaching staff. And you wonder, and you wonder how much Jerry thought about like a mat rule. He mentioned Matt Rule one time last December, just after Baylor played in the Big 12 championship game. What a great young coach to thought. Matt Rhule wass. And you're Matt Rhule took over a team that was just God awful and got ready Cam Newton, and they released whatever they are three and four. They compete. Uh, yeah. I mean, I don't know. I don't know that he wouldn't like to rethink this lot. Now it's the first year so I think both the pandemic the DAC injury, the offensive line being completely wiped out. Those going allow the coaches to skate for year. But he has to be thinking this. This may have been a Terrible higher. The Cowboys buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. You know, I don't think they have a lot to sell. I heard somebody saying trade one of their wide receivers. They don't need that many hundreds of it. That's the one thing they have is good wide receivers. You want to trade one of those go You know, Draft Ah, linebacker with a neck injury. That's what that's what excites you about rebuilding the team. I don't think they will do much. There's certainly not Myers, they get by. I mean, I don't know why in the world you would add. Do it to a terrible collection of talent as this many injuries, but I don't expect him to do a lot, actually.

"Roy White on at art dub three, I am are attempting on twitter at our sports. And there was excitement because football is here the state of the cowboys address was yesterday two hours of. Just, unbridled tremendous. I mean, intoxicating talk from Jerry, Jones Mike McCarthy, and Steven, Jones it was a press conference that did not include Jason Gear for the first time in a long time that was fun intoxicating. It was just a great day football's here starting there on the field. And then we ever said Griffin. He just falls lap at the Dallas Cowboys seven o'clock on Wednesday night just to wrap a bow around this tremendous day. Yeah. Cowboys fans could have been a little bit confused by thinking that the two hours nearly that they heard of Jason Excuse me of Jerry Jones Sam Already Doing Jerry Jones Stephen Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott who also spoke after those three you could be confused to think you heard a lot of football talk in that timeframe. The answer actually is that you did not if you listen to either of those press conferences, much of what was spoken about had absolutely nothing to do with the product football and yet social media was completely abuzz as it should have been because we were all starved for even the slightest snippet of cowboys news. So we're amped up on this stuff right and we've all been talking about what has taken place. From the cowboys press conference, what Dak Prescott had to say, which was all extremely fascinating and provided a number of talking points in angles to discuss and then. On the heels of that high. In the cover of darkness unbeknownst to the rest of the entire NFL hell perhaps while they were giving that press conference to us. They were behind the scenes working on a deal to arguably at the most efficient pass rushing weapon available in free. Agency. Everson Griffen I didn't yet. Ten Years in the Minnesota. Vikings Organization, this is a guy that still is in the prime of his career. He he had eight sacks. Last season eleven tackles for loss twenty, four quarterback hits last year for the Vikings. He's had three double digit sex season since two, thousand, fourteen, four, four, time pro bowler. And look at the end of the day the cowboys just needed something in terms of veteran helped solidify that right defensive end position and I just never expected that would be this guy in Everson Griffen the cowboys this off season have been. Very unlike the cowboys in recent history and I, think, perhaps, we've incorrectly attributed much of the organizational direction to Steven Jones and we've been downplaying. Without knowing really. The, the the. The level in which Jason Garrett has operated in terms of the driving the direction of this personnel. I don't think it's a coincidence that Garrett has gone, and suddenly in this off season, this team has finally decided to become active in free agency the way that we've just. We have not seen in the last decade from this organization. Well. It's not just free agency to. Dak, Prescott did say it as I'm sure knowing deck Prescott as we know him as Classy of a guy is he can be exudes class and exudes leadership showed today but he made a comment at the end of his press conference in which she basically said. What Mike McCarthy and his coaching staff has brought to the table is making a smarter football team. We were always a good football team, but we didn't play the type of smart football that we needed to play to play at our best and so. You bring that factor in. And you add that to what they've done this off season. This. Arguably. Is the most dynamic off season in. Perhaps cowboys history will certainly since you know since the great title teams in the Nineties Right I mean. As this organization has been. Wandering the wasteland of championships lost and opportunities squandered for the last two decades. You know this has not been they have built through the draft and really I mean go back. There was the first ten years after they won super bowls and they were just in a bad place where they spent a ton of money on bad players bad contracts and weren't very good at the draft made that creates bad trades, horrible drafts and bad decision making it was just not a good situation. So last ten years they overcorrected. They want so far in the direction of just building entirely through the draft not taking any chances free agency. Like the one last decade that comes to mind is brandon car. There's just just very rare to see them in the last decade go outside the organization and and find you know and find players will here we are in twenty. Twenty You know. So there's the two thousand where they were bad and bad at drafting bad contracts, bad trades and the two thousand ten's they overcorrected and we're all about drafting and not about at all about signing players, and here we are at twenty hours you're not in free agent. Players. Big Money. Right now here we are in the first twenty twenty, the first year of this third decade basically, and the cowboys have finally decided to go all in and that I think is. That's what I think. Everybody's been waiting for. It's like. It's been. It's been two decades since this organization played in the NFC championship game it's been so long it's like this team has the weapons and the pieces to be great. Just give it a push, sign a player like this to put you over the top and give you the opportunity to go on and that's that's what this move says more than anything to me that and that's Jerry Stephen Because I. Think we were wondering that is there. Is there a little Jerry Stephen a move? Like this is Jerry, but this is stephen pull the trigger now. No question about it it Stephen Stamp. On this roster. McCarthy's influence can be understated as well. Green Jane Slater made mention in fact that it was perhaps Mike McCarthy's influence that played a role in convincing Everson Griffen that the best place for him was the Dallas Cowboys but. George Edwards to. Staff former Vikings defensive coaches well, yeah and and you talk about kind of. I guess, did we attribute? Of The mistakes to Stephen, Jones when they may be perhaps should have gone Jason's way, right? Yeah. Maybe maybe we did maybe we attributed that too much all I is this though since Mike McCarthy has entered the building. Every move that the cowboys made it seems. Has Been A. Well cited and I don't think many people would dispute that fact that now. many cowboys fans were asking themselves how they were going to replace eleven and a half sacks from Robert, Quinn and the answer to that question up to this point was well, maybe we'll get four from Alden Smith, maybe we'll get four and a half five from a returning tyrone Crawford. Pray that Randy Gregory and we won't get back into that on this podcast here. But pray that Randy Gregory somehow gets reinstated and can give us two or three. And that's how we're going to replace. Robert Quinn's eleven and a half sacks from twenty nineteen while now. You have a player who essentially. Anytime. He's been able to be on the field for at least fifteen games in the season is provided at least eight sacks in Everson. Griffen over the last six years from the age of twenty seven to thirty two. Don't worry about the fact that he's thirty three years old. There's not a significant fall off their. Take a look at his tape as I've tweeted out at our dubbed Three John Owning at Dallas, morning news did a great right up on why Everson Griffen was a favorable player to add over Judean cloudy for the Dallas Cowboys I agree with that. because. He's a more efficient sack artist. In terms of pressures per sack, he has better numbers over the course of his career things debut and cloudy, and he's done it for longer. Davey and cloudy Excels at is stopping the run Everson Griffen. Meanwhile, we'll get to the passer. And for this cowboys unit that added Gerald McCoy that added Dante Repo. That's as big as they've been on the interior of the line and is healthy as they've been on the edges. What they needed was a guy who gets to the who gets to the quarterback, and so that's why I agree with John that Everson Griffen was.

"Into that loss it was more of a two to fi finish the season on a two three and they almost actually beat Chicago using their backups, which I think is kind of funny but. Which you know next year bears fans are GONNA use that and say Mitch trubisky beaten the Vikings like four times taller. To those games in 'cause it's like chief Daniel and Vikings backups. It doesn't really matter right the the the four games that are played he actually it should have been a an ideal situation because. You take a look at who they're playing and. I use that pretty quarterback. His name is David Blau who played for Detroit. He actually invited pressure fairmount infected Detroit scheme in general invited a ton of pressure that year because they they like to throw the ball really deep regardless of kind of who is back through whether or not it was Matthew Stafford or David Blau or The floor to transfer Louisiana Tech Jeff Driscoll they. They love to throw the ball deep and they love to Kinda, take their time doing it and so that they invited pressure Russell Wilson obviously he's on this hall of fame pasties really fantastic quarterback. But one of the things is that he holds onto the Bosnian vice pressure and I'm not using saks up using pressures to kind of right take a look at this and and even in situations where he probably should have been able to erogenous, he invites pressure to even in situations where you against teams that that. Take on pressure whether by design or by flaw quarterback or whatever you know he wasn't able to produce that pressure and so and then you take a look well maybe it's the number of of passes that they play but he didn't get a single run stop right so it's not easy and it you know because of a pass run balanced you know he couldn't get a tackle with near the line of. Scrimmage in the run game and so I really think a lot of that's on Everson. Griffen especially because that Seattle game I thought the defense actually played really really well, they had three takeaways or something like that brought Miss Seattle had four or so takeaways a defensive score from Seattle There were like three or four short field scores from Seattle. So the defense played well and it's not really fair to to. Ascribe them that thirty five or thirty seven points they ended up giving up in that game. So try I don't really think a lot of that has to do with the Vikings I think a lot of it has to do with with Everson. Griffen. And just kind of off because of age or whatever I have no idea what the real reason is but I, assume it's age no and you mentioned your your more recent tweets somebody did ask you kind of Get me hyped or whatever what's going on and you just like I think he's just old. And that that's a reality you mentioned Everson's. Field you know history for anyone who is unaware because a lot of people as you know, kind of tend to have tunnel vision on their team, can you kind of walk us through the spark notes version of what she his doubt West since entering the NFL? Yet it's going to have to be. Version of the was we're going to be for a while and this isn't debate on him. I actually think he's one of the mourners spiring stories that we have in the NFL. But you know one of the reasons that he was a fourth round draft pick instead of a second round draft pick a coming out was because of a number of concerns about his maturity and here's how big those concerns were. After he left USC. Pete Carroll who the USC coach at the time banned him from the campus they didn't want him to influence. The other players that they had, which if you're familiar with. That era of USC football. Smith there. Well. Yeah. There you go. who was probably one of the most pitcher players that that era of a broken participant. They were not shy in terms of allowing the players to Kinda celebrate, and so the fact that Everson Griffen was banned from that campus or at least from the football program, it should say I. Think says a lot about kind of what people thought about his maturity level because he had a ton of production, he demolished the combine remarkable combine any fell to the fourth round and a lot of that is just because he had these the field concerns and the concerns were so bad that at one point he was arrested twice in three days and actually got taste on on one of those arrests and. Probably a credit to. His sheer talent level as well as you Kinda Vikings is approach at the time which they had lousy Fraser's the coach that they didn't decide to cut him or anything like that which was really good forever soon because. After, after his mother died and he got married, he actually turned around became a a really remarkably mature person leader in the locker room and you take a look at kind of how we access and how he interacts. He didn't change his personality you still a superfund funny guy a great quote. I think the People in Dallas you're GONNA love him. But. He the way he kinda manages decision making I think was significantly more mature, and so if the story ended there that would have been just really great. I. Think it would have been a really great way to kind of cap the ORC of Everson. Griffen. But that's just not how humans work in a turns out. He actually had a lot of underlying mental health concerns That were so severe that there were times. Apparently Wayne he would have to leave his house with his wife and check into a hotel so that he wouldn't be a danger to anyone which is obviously very concerning and in one of these episodes apparently got so bad. I don't WanNa go into too much detail because I don't WanNa, make it about the spectacle of the thing but it got so bad that eventually emt services were called and There were concerns about about violence which didn't occur by the way but. You know he ended up escaping the EMT's and. It became such a problem that you know the Vikings, decided that he wouldn't be allowed back into the facility until until he sought help and the vikings were more than willing to provide assistance to that kind of help. But this occurred at about week four of the season in in eighteen. Now was the buffalo game and and I I think that played a pretty big role in how the Vikings played against. Buffalo was not a shell game use the Josh. Allen game, and while I think that Josh Allen has the capability to hurdle. Anthony, Barr with of the. Is is distracted. And it doesn't help that Riley refers playing through an.

"There's probably a higher ceiling for him if everything works out, but it's a big literally back to back in my rankings. I've got Maria spot ahead. Who do you have a head Mark Ingram or the tavis Murray? Literally back to back in my rankings Ingram one spot ahead Murray from me Murray for me. All right. So Murray you can start. He's not a great start. There's anger, right? Certainly not strew. New Orleans has allowed thirty six or more receiving yards? Two four running backs in their last four games. I don't know if you're gonna get that from Murray. Why don't we go to the saints? I come back to Vikings. Drew brees. I went back and looked at his primetime road games. Each of the last four years. This. Let's say the last two seasons have been very good nineteen seventeen and twenty fantasy points in three primetime road games including last month last year, Monday night or at Minnesota scored seventeen fantasy points starter sit breeze. Is your roads? Playing and is Everson Griffen. Playing. Tell me give me the if they're in if they're out scenarios. I I am not expecting roads to play that obviously helps I don't know about Griffin. But he's their best pass rusher. And if he's not playing than Brees was going to have time to throw against a depleted defensive backfield. And I would love starting him in that situation. I've got Brees right in that range to where you can't really say stored in or sit him I sort him over wince Cam Wilson Stafford I would sit him for Andy, Winston luck Trubisky. I mean, he's just right in the middle. I wouldn't make a transaction to pick another quarterback. Where do you get off being on a first name basis with Andy Dalton me? Yeah. I've written many kind things you just traded him in my career. I just traded him to a first place team to give a chance to win a championship. You've made a break. Four nola. Start Brock Osweiler overhead the way that wasn't really a great trade. I have Patrick Mahomes, Kirk cousins in antidote really a fourth round will fourth round pick. I'm happy with that. No one's going to anything for dole. I could've just dropped him. All right so breeze. It's like we're not thrilled about starting him. But if Griffin and roads are out does Brees all of a sudden become like a great start. Yes. I probably won't move in very much. I am ten. This is so many great quarterbacks as we can. He's not throwing a lot so many true. Okay. Okay. So what do you got with Camerin Ingram guys? Chimeras gonna start in Ingram's of in that latavius Murray. Right now, the twenties I mean, just guys that should have the chance to get a decent workload. But not exactly a great situation. Great matchup. So a guy like to Rico, and you would start over him. Yes. Oh, yes. Obviously Philip Lindsay will start over with more than MAC plays stardom. Okay. And the restart over wide receivers any interest in people are going to start Michael Thomas. If roads plays than you know, might not be a great game for him. But you're starting Thomas what about trade on Smith or Meredith interest Smith the flyer? I mean, I think he can run pass. Trae Wayne's both see how that goes. Then Watson starter sit. Low and starter streamer. Yeah. Yeah. This is this team struggles against Ed seventh. "Of football. You know, I had time to reflect on my life, and I want to go and the decisions are made. And I just want to. Get better get better with some of my decisions that are made in this improve on them. So Everson Griffen. Captain with the Vikings back with them for the first time in five weeks and being able to participate with them again. We don't know when he's going to play. But at least he's back with the team. He wasn't listed on the injury report after going through practice, so coach them or has said the Vikings have a plan in place for him, and they will decide his status for week eight once they get to the end of the week or I'm sorry. They'll decided status about the saints. Once they get to the end of the week. All right. So couple of your odd bedfellows in sports. Joshua says on Twitter, marshawn Lynch and Pete Carroll. Oh, gosh. It's helpful in the NFL when you can hide hide when you are in such a large group, right? The fifty three active players not to mention the guys that you've got on your practice squad. The number of coaches and training staff and support staff and everything else. So the travel party is enormous. It feels like there are two hundred people on the sidelines every week for a football game on each sideline. And so these guys don't always come into contact. They don't talk at a ton in the course of their every day. Maybe it a full team meeting. But yeah, marshawn Lynch and Pete Carroll. You wonder what they would ever have to talk about P carols? Like, this guys bouncing all around all the time. He's the oldest cheerleader on the planet. He's such a raw raw guy, and then you've got marshawn Lynch who's just here. So he doesn't get fined. Nick says strange bedfellows. Steve Young and Terrel Owens. And then buddy says on Twitter, Tiger Woods and Marco Mira. Yeah. There'd be at that. All right. So you can find me on Twitter a law radio or back tonight after week eight kicks off in.

"Red Sox take game. One of the series eight to four last night Clinton Kershaw struggled on the mound gave up five runs in four innings, Nick. What was the key to the Red Sox win a seaport out earlier. They were excellent with runners in scoring position. The dodgers weren't Kershaw struggled again, last year game, one of the World Series. He was Awesome. Then engaged five, you struggled this year game one. He struggled also didn't seem like they were that familiar with Fenway park. I better the game. David freeze. Can't get that pop. Fly in foul territory set up a big inning, and we can't expect a National League team to be familiar with that part. That's one of the vantage, but not coming through in the clutch runners in scoring position. Red Sox. The reason why they one hundred eight games they did come through dodges didn't quite get it done. Last night. One percents can the NFL Everson Griffen who. Returned to the Vikings today. Griffin has been away from the team since week three dealing with mental health issues. Chris, how big of an impact can Griffin make for the Vikings? Huge impact. And I'm glad because of Kevin love what he went through last year that we have far more sensibilities to players who are have have a cry for some type of help, and they were in a crisis situation on the Vikings. I know the staff there and I know Rick Spillman and everyone they're trying to do everything they can to get Everson the best care as possible him being RIA, simulated to the team. Beginning team activities is a very, very good sign. But man, this was a scary situation last month. I mean, they could have had something worse on that in Minneapolis and I'm thrilled he's back with the team, but I'm also thrilled that a month ago, this didn't go really sideways like we don't have the best infrastructure for dealing with people in this country dealing with the mental health crisis. A lot of times you will get scared. They see a big, I acting crazy. They call the police and it goes really. Sideways. So the Vikings got him the help immediately and on the field. He's an excellent player. He might their best d. line and these inspirational leader there. He self made not necessarily the high top ten draft pick, but he's made himself into a player. He got the big contract because they were word him for his hard work. He's built his body as overall strength. He was only a situational player when he was first when he first came into the league, I moving on the patriots getting ready for the bills on Monday night. Bill Belichick had some high praise for his running back. James white ballot check, said, white quote, asks questions like a coach would ask questions, see, does that surprise? You know, I've been coaching Jane's with them him and his parents. It comes from a great family, James white. That should be the next profession. He should coach football. He's a student of the game, very person who is selfless. He understands the teamwork to unity. He loves football. He loves doing the small things, ugly gritty things about football. So Nobel check is right when they drafted him. I said. Man, this kid is he is born the patriot way. Man is parents the way he was raised the way he's participated in team sport. Also great baseball player. He's one of the best kids I've ever been associated with on and off the field. His overall character is ma'am above. It's one of the best of all the people that coached James. Why is one of the more underrated players in the league as far as what his impact on winning is like that, what he does that patriots team being a guy who can catch out of the backfield as well as he does. I mean, scored twenty points in the Super Bowl comeback like he's been an outstanding player for them. I'm moving onto the train wreck that has been the Oakland Raiders report in the app. Let said quarterback, Derek Carr, had a fractured relationship with his teammates and that he was actually seen crying after taking this big, hit against the Seahawks. Now, car address this manor on Twitter basically saying, I wasn't on crying said on the ground..

"Rossini Rajkumar back with you. Phone lines are open folks, I wanna hear from you on this topic of mental health. There's a lot of stigma around it's still, but I do really think the silver lining that comes out of some of the tragedies that we've heard about all year, some very high profile suicides and even Everson Griffen. Very very popular. Vikings player when he was. Taken by ambulance after being picked up in his minister miniature neighborhood in September. And admitting there are some mental health issues that he's dealing with the higher profile people when they're able to use their platform or their families after Shaggy's tragedies. Share some more private details to help us all de stigmatize it. It's it's one of the silver linings that comes out of such a tragedy has have you been touched by mental illness in your family yourself. I'd love to hear from you six five one nine eight nine nine two to six or eight six six nine eight nine nine two two six one person says on the tech screen how about calling it what it is brain illness, just like heart disease, lung disease kidney disease, wouldn't that help remove the stigma? Well, I don't know if if it would. And I don't know if that's technically accurate to call it, brain illness. I I've known some people who. Who have had brain tumors, brain cancers. And I don't I think that that is. Now, you're getting into things where if we were to call it a brain illness. We could be. Not medically. Correct. Not terminal are terms, then are getting a little mixed up. But I do know language has power. And so maybe if there's a way to come up with the term that helps de stigmatize that would be great. And you know, it's one of those things where most people we have in one way or another been touched by this. Whether it's someone I remember when we heard Kate Spade had taken her own life and how shocked I mean, I really just stopped in my tracks. Because you think what a successful person? Dave, we've all just like Alzheimer's, we've all been touched in some way, by mental illness, we have and it's a it's a good thing that it's becoming more of a conversation that people are willing to have to a you mentioned Kate Spade. Go back to real Robin Williams, all a million different high profile people that we as fans or as general public had no idea they were struggling. And you know, you you put you put a face to it. I guess you know, you hear mental health. You hear you hear your whatever issue, and is and you don't think much about it. But when you see a face to it or you hear that name that's familiar it like you like you said with Kate Spade. Stop senior think. Whoa. Whoa. I mean from everything I knew they had a wonderful fantastic life. But as we know that doesn't matter right. And the visuals sometimes art all the whole story, they're not the whole story. And that's also what we have to remember. When listener texts, unfortunately, there is only minimal ways to treat mental health. But no cure. And you know, the thing about it. And this is why I don't know that it could just be called brain illness. You know, their anxiety issues. There's bi-polarity schizophrenia. There's so many. There's just a whole range. Yeah. You can put a giant umbrella over it called brain illness. But there's so many as you said, the the wide Rangers a million different tentacles in a different paths that it can go exactly. And it really can strike anyone this summer. I learned a friend's friend of mine sister took her own life. She was a mother a wife. Very shocking a very successful happy person as far as I knew. And that has definitely rocked that family. So it doesn't have to be someone like Anthony bourdain or Kate Spade. It could be your neighbor. Your sister your father? I mean, whatever the situation is. So we are going to take a quick break. And then we've got lots more. We'll be talking with Pat Boise coming up at ten thirty five. It all.

"And the first thing he said was lifted no one's going to replace j.j I, he was very complimentary of how Wendell small one Corey Clement were able to perform against the giants and Thursday night football. He said, look, if we were to bring in somebody else, I would welcome them in. But I just don't think it's going to happen because I don't think we're going to give up a second round or whatever it would take to get that type of running back here. And the other thing another source eliminated. Just in talking to me as he said that he doesn't think that in the league running back would be attracted to come to Philadelphia simply because he keeps saying Josefina. We don't run the ball like that's I don't think we would spend that type of money for somebody. Wendy will prior to Thursday's game against the New York Giants eagles coach, Doug Peterson showed the team highlight reel tape to remind them who they are and what they're capable of. And it showed up in thirty four to thirteen win, which really provided a spark for this team. You could tell instantly in the locker room like they felt like they had recaptured something that'd be critical that they keep it in big games coming up against the Carolina Panthers in Jacksonville, Jaguars, and one reason why they feel like they're back to their old selves. We're getting their sea legs back as Peterson, put it Carson Wentz and Now Sean, Jeffrey. Now a couple of games post injury under their belt. Their connection should vote well, moving forward over to Dallas and Todd Archer. Tim, the Cowboys March of this three and three record is unlike anything we've seen in recent years three zero at home, oh, and three on the road since two thousand fourteen the Cowboys have been among the NFL's best road teams winning twenty three times so far this season, the Cowboys having scored more than sixteen points in an away game Pro Bowl, right guard Zack. "It's the, it's the efficiency that that doesn't. I'm not a huge yards per carry guy. But if you're below three or above six, like there's something there. Anywhere between maybe that's negotiable. That that's a huge problem with likings. Yeah, and that that's interesting. The game script of it too because I was looking at their formation, tendencies were personnel, and I saw from eleven personnel. They're passing eighty seven percent of the time when I'm like, what is this? And then I look and I, you know, the game script, the of it all, and of course yards yards are going to be down for that as well. But then you look at the the film of them trying to run the ball and and it can definitely get ugly. And Brett Jones is a guy that you you brought up win the Vikings had to trade for a backup center on the New York Giants who have a bad center already. I was like, oh man, they are in some serious trouble along that line. So to be interesting to see how that flushes itself out over the season, how much how much it costs them. One last question for your reef before I let you go. I wish we could have touched on the receives a little Vicks. I love Adam. Theline love stuff on digs. I think they're awesome. We're gonna talk about him in the preview shows a bunch. They're excellent talents, but Everson Griffen what is going on with his situation. And is there any timetable for his return to the second one? I, there's not really a timetable for his return. I don't know if he's going to return the season or maybe next season. It's it's really up in the air the the issue. If your listeners on wears that Everson Griffen has been dealing with a lot of mental health problems and they kind of building up actually for the past couple of weeks kind of before the buffalo game is where he was inactive missing inactive in theory because the foot but missing because the mental health issues. So the kind of related not the foot, the missing for a couple of weeks. You know, their reports that he wasn't himself right. Apparently, you know, other players or staff in the Vikings had mentioned that, you know, you hadn't been himself with the past couple of weeks. There is a lot of like confusion about kind of like the the order of events kind of what the Vikings may or may not have done to try and help alleviate the situation whether or not that told him to go seek a mental health. Counseling are not. You know, some reporters have had to redact reports the Vikings required him to do that or whatever. But you know the long, the short of it is you know, he had an incident where he. At the hotel. I've e- which apparently he was staying at even though he's got a house in Minna trista which is very small municipality, you're Minnesota. He's staying at the hotel itchy and he, I don't think he threatened in the same way that a lot of the report is of, but you use paranoid. He said they weren't gonna let him back into his room because he lost his key in they weren't giving him as key or something he, he mentioned something about shooting up the place for shooting someone. It sounds like it was abstract in in the in the hotel employees didn't feel particularly threatened in. There was no gun scene or anything like that on any starts lying on the floor in the hotel lobby, he leaves in. Apparently, the reason is in a hotel in the first place is because when you when he wakes up, he's battling demons in his head according to his wife, that's phrase that she us. You know, he leaves and goes to the hotel, which is just like wild to me that this is a thing that they've kind of stabbed drives around he. He asks a stranger that he thinks he recognizes that a gas station drive around goes back. I think the hotel. L. ends up at trae Wayne's house. There is a report that he tried to break in both Wayne's and the police have denied it. "You alluded to the fumbles that they didn't recover some stuff like that weird penalties. But the beginning of the just got out of hand really quickly and they weren't able to recover in a way that makes me think I'm not gonna take too much from this. Right? I'm not gonna argue that needed. This Viking team is not as good as we thought they were, but I do have a couple of takeaways from that game in terms of long-term things to be concerned about one is we completely underestimated how we I completely underestimate how bad is offense of line was and how much that would affect the game, right? Tackle Riley if he just got owned by Jerry Hughes own and he's supposed to be good. Okay. Pal, fine. The centers coming back that should help, especially against the Rams team where almost all of their pass rushes coming from the inside. They don't really have an outside pass rush, but it's gonna be something that's going to bother them all season. It's going to cause problems for Kirk cousins. So that's one the other thing is, and this is I wanted to hear your take on the defense, which is the vaunted Vikings defense just completely blew coverage. If you times it wasn't just tackling or weird stuff. And it reminded me a little bit Dominic if the NFC championship where I was watching that defense in wonder like, who is this secondary? I suppose too good. So what do you think in terms of good defense just having these total employed, particularly the secondary? Do you think that's something that's going to keep happening. I, I'm more cautious to say that it hasn't happened. They've been good more times than they have it. But oftentimes, again, you know, I go to this route or this. This talking point often when we talk about secondary play is the secondary is a lot like offense of receivers and that they are dependent on a lot of other things going well. So what could be the difference is not is that they are not getting the pressure in the way that they're used to and that their coverages have always been like that and and they may not. And when things don't work out, it's because they aren't getting the pressure to pressure quarterbacks and make quarterbacks not to say that their secondary isn't good is in talented, but sometimes they're secondary is built for a system or or a group of players are built for a system. And when one little, it's a very delicate balance. When one little thing off that can throw everything off and everyone can look terrible. So that is my best explanation for why randomly. Sometimes the Vikings are bad in or sloppy in the secondary. Maybe they kind of are all the time. Maybe that's how they play. And maybe that's. Part of what they do normally. But this week they couldn't get to the quarterback and obviously Everson Griffen has been out is going to be out. It's kind of unclear what's going on there right. Turns a his situation off to fill, but so that it's interesting though I haven't thought about as you were talking trying to pull up some of the sack numbers for the Vikings defensive line to see how much they're infecting pressures like those things that, yeah, that changes the way that you have to play. And I think that oftentimes as as a cornerback, if you are expecting, that's one more frustrating things is to have a blitz called that doesn't get home is because you are expecting certain things to happen because of the blitz. And if those things happen and you're kind of. Interesting. You just did I. Yeah. I guess the other thing I would add is it is it's still pretty young defense across the board, so that could play into it as because you don't. You just remember watching that NFC championship game and just like what it is like it was so Jekyll and Hyde. But I felt I felt that way watching this game..

There's no way that the jets struggles and the Browns ascending to the top of the mountain will come up again on this. That's a quite an. Them in for the, let's start with some serious news, Vikings defensive and Everson Griffen. He's battling a serious mental health issue for the past several weeks. It's come to light. Now. He's currently undergoing a valuation at a local hospital that according to Tom, Pella, sarraut Griffin played in Minnesota's for and this is one of the top pass rushers in the NFC certainly on the Vikings at thirteen sacks lesser. He was able to play in the Vikings first two games of the season, a half a second. Each contest, but quote in this again from Pella, Cerro the situation became unmanageable this past week when they ruled him out against the bills. Mike Zimmer told reporters, following the loss of buffalo that Griffin did not play due to a personal matter. And there have been a number of reports concerning Griffin status following the game, Greg, this is a troubling matter around the Vikings and you just hope that whatever's going on with Everson Griffen gets under control. I've. I'm just following Mike Zimmer's lead on this when he talked about Griffin, just saying that he's really worried about Griffin, the person in less. So whether he can play football or not, they was reported suggested that, you know, he undergo a mental health evaluation last week that there's been issues going on for a few weeks in that he voluntarily checked himself into a hospital, the details which some of which have been disputed about what incidents and everything that preceded that to me seems really secondary because this is a guy who was like a captain of the team who Zimmer who's kind of a hard ass sometimes says, is one of his absolute favorite players. One of the most important players. I think when you think about the Minnesota Vikings over the last seven, eight years, certainly throughout the Mike Zimmer era, and that this is a serious enough problem to put his life just on..

"Works. It is not for the judiciary committee to make them. Ask President Donald Trump expected to hold a news conference this week to talk about his participation in the UN general assembly and news the day. The White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted Tuesday that the news conference is set for Wednesday at five o'clock in New York. And finally, we're getting a little new information about Vikings Everson Griffith the head coach Mike Zimmer. Just wrapping up a press conference today. WC seals Mike max has there has more focused on Everson getting better person than he has not talked to him since Green Bay week last week everson's their practice through Thursday. But there was no reason for a one on one conversation before we didn't want to skew what? It's gonna be a while ever since. He's getting the treatment that needs the hope and and Vikings organizations committed to him. But it's certainly think that they're preparing for this to be a long haul kind of thing that this is something that's gonna take while to figure out and to get under control and to make sure that ever since in a good place in his life. Now. Chad Everson is on the defense or offense. My name is Adam. What did I say, you said Chad? Okay. I was like wisely. Looking at me funny Everson Griffen is a defensive end. Okay. And how important is he to the team very important, very important. As Chad has said he knows much more about sports than I do. But I pretty play the game. I'm kidding. That's a joke. I have played. But does it have anything to do with his opinion? The rut pass rushing defensive end is probably your second most important as far as impact player on a team quarterback being the first but a pass rushing defensive defensive end can disrupt the game and Everson Griffen has been at the top near the top as a pass rushing defensive end for the last several years. He's been with the Vikings three time pro bowler. So this is obviously devastating news for the Vikings defensively. But I'm certain more importantly is his his his well being and it certainly sounds like he's dealing with some serious mental illness mental health. Yes. So then what was I going to ask you about him? So he could be in the hospital getting treatment, and it it will affect the team. Now they have to play Thursday night. They're going they're losing badly lost badly. And there's a lot of conversation today about you know, how much did the team? No come Sunday morning about what had happened. I'm sure because it also involved. We're getting reports. Now that Everson Griffen lives in Minnesota. And he was at the house after this incident happened in downtown Minneapolis to the hotel Ivy returns to minute trista and his outside of the home of trae wayans quarterback for the Vikings. And that's when police are called there. They put him in an ambulance. Some more reporting today that at one point Everson Griffen was loaded into the ambulance. And that was from Chad graph saying that. Yeah. Just told me that he got out of the ambulance and some people have pictures of it that was concerned about somebody shooting him. And so it sounds like there was lot of. Paranoia, paranoia and some major issues. Also, this is from Tom Pella, of course, with the NFL network very plugged in with the Vikings. This is according to militaristic police Vikings player development director less PICO told told them told Vikings that Everson Griffen and not been himself for a few weeks. T- the team sent Griffin and his agent a letter Thursday saying he wasn't allowed back until he had a mental health evaluation. So this is something that was on the radar the Vikings. Again, he did Griffin. Did not play Sunday. They said it was a knee issue. Would that might have been a lie, right? Yeah. I mean, basically say, okay, you might have had an issue, and that's what they attributed to. But then. Mike Zimmer said, yeah. Was it yesterday or that it was a personal personal personal issues? This is something that's you know, again, this is you're trying to do the balance of. Covering obviously, the Minnesota Vikings, which sports wise, and even in the terms of news is one of the biggest attention getters in the twin cities of marquee player. Dealing with some issues that are beyond his control sounds like an also the balance of getting too much into his personal life and what he's dealing with as opposed to what's happening with the team. But the thoughts right now with the team the staff. Very good. As far as letting him letting him do hopefully deal with what he has to do to get to be a healthier person. Right. But as Lindsay was mentioned in the break will be very interesting to see how the Vikings go forward. And it'll tell a lot about the vite Minnesota Vikings as an organization I don't think there's been any slip up so far on the part of the Vikings. But. In the silver lining in. This is put on this show, we've talked about so so many times the stigmas about mental illness, and especially in the world of football where it's tough guys get over it. You know, suck it up get back in the game. Where now this is a marquee player for marquee franchise, dealing with significant mental health issues, and I it's a chance for not only Vikings, but the NFL tool to to put a spotlight on mental illness, and look we can happen to anybody. And it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. That's been my biggest takeaway from the last twenty four hours when things started to kind of unravel with what we thought we knew about what was going on this past weekend. And I'll say this because I've been very honest about my own struggles. I know Adam you have been incredibly honest about your own struggles. But I've chosen to put that out there. I've chosen to you know, yesterday, I just had a funky day. And I posted on Twitter about. That feeling of being in a funk and not being able to shake it, and how that is a mental health issue, and we need to respond properly to it. I can't imagine going through something your own personal journey and not getting to choose whether you make it public or not. Is such a public figures such public figure, and this goes far beyond even just, you know, common depression that people that I mean, there's certainly and I don't want to diagnose anything here. But it certainly sounds. There's some paranoia involved that puts it above just the normal. Okay. I don't want to say, you know, run of the mill depression, but the, you know, the ones that like you say being, you know, being in a funk for a day, which I experienced too, and I think is very brave of you to do that. Because not only I've chosen to do you've chosen not chosen. It's right. His battle public exact hope that we as humans can follow this story with some right? And especially. Oh in this environment to not only from the people the fans who look at that. But but your teammates as well. Yeah. You've grown up in a culture playing football. Like, I said tough-guy sport where. Get back in the game coaching. It's a it's a very things have changed for football. But there's some things that haven't changed in that culture saying look this is you know, it's about and it's about being with your teammates. I mean, you look at the Buffalo Bills the week before they came in here and beat the Vikings. They have a defensive back quit at halftime saying he was retiring because he just did have his heart in it. And the first instinct was even for me saying you're quitting on your teammates. There is you're leaving them high and dry at halftime. So that's kind of the mentality that you're dealing with. And here's an individual at the top of his game. Who's obviously dealing with something significant. We already have texters wondering about CTE, I know the the brain disease that is associated with concussions and prolonged them repeated blows to the head whether it's way too early to say if this is connected at all. But it's certainly a question that will be brought up and rightfully so. I know we have to take a break just want to throw this out there because I've used. Quite frequently having dealt with my own issues and having dealt when my father was still alive and dealing with his alcoholism. If my father had been diagnosed with cancer, there would have been people lined up around the block casseroles wanting to know how they could help starting go fund me pages. But because my father suffered from mental illness people didn't know how to handle that. And I think that is something that is so important in two thousand eighteen to you don't have to understand it. But just be open to the idea that not everyone's journey is the same right? Sorry. I gonna take a break soon. But thanks for sticking around and talk. We'll talk more about this, obviously, we'll be.

"Get lathered up and get that first contact and that I hit so he can catch a bunch of all of them and fifty five yards rushing. So they're receiving. So that's all going to add up to the first season manly sidelight atlas Vikings radio network is our guest on the NFL on tune in for the first time as a starter, Jimmy Garoppolo has lost a game and he was mortal today three interceptions including a pick six. How much credit does the Viking defense deserve. Well, I think they were they. They really were the stars of the game, and it wasn't even the guys like Mike Hughes, picking those balls offer Harrison Smith with an unbelievable stat line type of game. But it was the guys that front demille hunter, Everson Griffen Limbaugh Joseph. And then the new edition shoulder Richardson, I thought had the best game of all all those other guys had some, some Saks and stuff like that. But you know, Sheldon really caused a lot of pressure. He penetrated a lot, you know, they really got to the feet in the face of drop below. Whenever he was asked to stay in the pocket in the Mike us, you know, pick six that was because of the blitz package and Eric Hendricks kind of forced to issue enforce the Aaron throw. So you know, we always talk about it's rushing coverage and it got exemplified today by the man. We know Minnesota is the reigning division champs. We're getting set for Sunday night football, Chicago, and Green Bay or new the rivalry. What's your view of the division with a healthy Aaron Rodgers to start the season. What's going to be one of the strongest and football, you know, Aaron Rodgers, no matter what no matter if he's got, you know, the full complement of of a running back behind him. You know, who's gonna step up as devante going to be truly the number one guy was Jordan. VN John no matter what happens around him. He makes everybody better and and you always have a fighting chance when you've got a guy like Aaron Rogers. So I know they're pretty excited about that defense as well. We'll see how that plays out tonight as the season goes along. I think the lions who finished second in the division last year, you know, should be a little bit better. I think you, I think everybody's sort of seize the mentality in the culture change. It's happening there obviously with Matt Patricia, coming from a winning program, and then you've got the bears who who makes they made a huge move to bolster the defense and they they, it looks like on paper against say, hey, we're gonna play. You efficient offense. We're not going to press anything like totally down the field and Blair selves advantage relations. We're going to run the ball Jordan. Howard like outstanding defensive. We're gonna get after the passer if that all comes to fruition, I'll tell you what. It's it's going to be the best division in football. Philadelphia Eagles, Vikings and Kirk Cousins discussed on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed

"Kirk cousins made his Vikings debut on Saturday and Denver, and look, radio only played one series, but when a perfect four, four, including touchdown, pass to step on days. Last week we should report put the Vikings number one in their preseason power rankings, and we are now joined by vox NFL analyst and former Viking, Greg, jenning. Thank you for joining us on this Monday. This is an easy question for me, but I like your opinion, is Minnesota the best team in the NFL? No, they are not. No, they're not. Philadelphia Eagles are the best team in National Football League. There are most recent Super Bowl champion. They have not done anything that leads me to believe they did not get better. They did not improve going back to the Vikings. However, if if I were to rank them, I would rank them one to somewhere around there. The NFC is so cluttered at the top right now. There's there's so many great teams that have great potential vite the Vikings being one of them. Obviously, we saw where they ended up last year. But here's why I say that they're not when you take a quarterback in case keenum who let's say he was a b to a b, plus quarterbacks his with his performance with this performance. Then you, you take him, you remove him and you insert Kirk cousins. You don't gain that much. You get better in my opinion, but you don't gain enough to where I can just automatically say you're the best team. Now, when I look at the way they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in that NFC championship game, if they have Kirk cousins, do they win? I don't think so. So I don't give them the throne just yet. They have to prove it in their schedule will let us know real soon whether or not they can handle being one of the bullies in the NFL right now they have a, they have great depth. I love their coach. Probably one of my favorite coaches in the NFL right now and Mike Zimmer. I think his mentality, his approach his his way that he has shifted the kosher there. It's permeated through every single player. Only the players, but the people within the organization, just his approach to the game in his approach to winning. And I don't think that you can just dethrone the Philadelphia Eagles with the moves that they made in acquiring Mike Wallace lowly, NADA, Michael Bennett. All these other guys, acquisitions, let alone they get Carson wins back at some point this season. And that last point. This is why say yes, gift, because I don't know the health status of Carson Wentz currently, and you look at what Minnesota's done with this. You look at their delight limb Bill Joe's Everson Griffen Harrison Smith Kendrick bar. They're loaded defensively offensively. Now they had they were, I think, pro football focus. Bleacher reports. They had the number one receiving core with the day. Rudolph bring down and cook back down and cope with having an unbelievable year before he went down. Now the the thing that separates them that a no break. Owner, if Phillies line is good, as we got next Dallas, they might have the second best offense of land. I believe Kirk cousins is substantial upgrade over case keenum substantial.
