"In how many innings? 157. It's pretty damn good. It was pretty impressive. So he was probably what a high 90s mid 90s. He asked him that. And because they didn't have radar guns were at the shit back then. We think he probably threw like 97. I think he goes, I think I was a generally around 99. Miles an hour. And the hitters would have said a 110, 'cause they were scared. They were so scared of him. By the time he, again, he was so tall by the time he stretched and came at you. He was 60 feet 6 inches away. He didn't want 52 feet away. He was a giant. And the ball when he threw at the ball made this sizzling, he says, to the catcher's Mitt it was like, you didn't know what to do. Anyway, I've had a hell of a week, you guys. What's up about your week? What happened? I don't want to sound like a bitchy bitch. But I got some bitchin to do here. Okay. Stuff. Go ahead and use a lot of stuff to get it off your chest. How did it all start? First of all, I had a great week because I went to see Billy in Florida and everything was beautiful. Right till the very, very end. I'll tell you what happened. I was down here. We had great dinners. We played golf. It was beautiful weather, you know? Billy was his usual jovial self. We had a great time. He's my pal. And it was going so great until Saturday. Now Saturday was the day I was supposed to catch a four 13. Flight. Okay. I heard the supposed to. Let me tell you about the early part of Saturday first, because I had very interesting. There's this place called Mitch's airboat swamp tours. It's in everglade city. One of those most of the giant fan on the back. And there's nothing like a giant fan, especially for me, has so few fans now. Anyway, we went to this place, is a Billy's wife, Kimi and me, and Billy, and we went on this and check out this place. You can see allocators swamplands and grovelands and sawgrass and all kinds of stuff as your whipping through the and this boats go very fast. So we went down there. This place, this guy's run by redneck named Mitch, and it says right on his pamphlet. It says, redneck cracker approved. And first thing he says, yeah, yeah, I'm a Reddit and he is. He's a complete redneck. He says, you know, a lot of people think I'm a dumb redneck, which I am. That's how he introduces himself to you. So hunter, his son is the guy who's taking us out on the piloting the boat. Yeah. And he's a, you know, young redneck, great kid. He's telling us about alligators have alligators have 40 teeth upward 40 teeth lower. And I'm thinking it's 77 more than you've got there, hunter, but hunter was really great. And we go, skittering around this thing. We saw a bunch of crocodiles and it was great. And you go wicked fast. It's fun. We get back to the place and there's a daughter there. She's wearing these daisy dukes shorts and she's got a live baby alligator in her hands and the mother looks like the wife on dog the bounty hunter and it was just a great thing and they were all really nice people, but they're telling you, we don't want another northerners down here. They come down here, we'll chase them away with a gun. We all got guns. I love the spot. I like this guy. I'm going back there next time I go, they're going to bring all my Friends. So that part of the day was fine. Did I get home? Okay, I got a four 13 flight. So we're getting ready to go to the airport. It's like two in the afternoon or whatever. And it comes up a bit. Delayed by three hours because there was some snow in Boston. Three hours. From snow with Logan airport, that never happens. So three hour delay. Now, I get dropped so Billy takes me for it. It's 5 o'clock. 'cause they had stuff to do. So I'm at the airport. It's 5 o'clock. My flight's supposedly nubbin pushed back to 7 13. Right? So you guys, okay, two and a half hours. I'm already checked in. But here's the problem. You concourse D, JetBlue was packed because I guess it's a spring break was coming to an end and there were a lot of flights. No, this is in fort and Fort Myers. For Myers, four miles. So I'm like, okay, there's no place to sit. Every single chair in the airport at every single gate D one D two, everyone was taken. All the way down to D ten. Way down the every seat was taken. So people were standing there in the standing room only area. Shoulder to shoulder, you can't even get a, it was ridiculous. And I'm like, okay, so this is going to put, this is going to put me home very, very, very, very late. I'm going to call my wife and tell her, well, my phone has a problem. What? My phone, my old phone. Are you the problem with the phone? No, my phone I had the battery wasn't charging. Every time you turn it on, it would turn right off. Oh. So I couldn't make a call. I couldn't make a call. I couldn't use my phone. I couldn't sit down. I had to stand up. I'm sweating. I'm wearing a mask. I mean, I'm in this cramped area with all these, I say their assholes. I don't know them all, but I consider the mess. 'cause they're in my way. Well, yeah. So, now I'm like, okay, I didn't board till 7 30. I didn't get home to 1130 at night. Oh jeez. 1130. When plane landed at Logan, it took 15 minutes for them to find an open gate. I mean, so we're just on the runway, waiting to come to the gate. I think that's the worst part of the no, no, no. The worst part is when you're sitting in the queue to take actually take off. Yeah, yeah. The flight down was perfect. On the way back, I couldn't get home. No, that's nobody's fault, except for whatever. Well, you know, people freak out and they think, oh, no. I flew in in the snow. At 11 o'clock, I landed at Logan. It was snowing and was a perfect landing. It didn't matter. These people get all paranoid and weird about. Come on. You pussies. You think you think Indiana Jones would do that? He takes over planes mid flight and knows how to fly them lens and wherever he wants. Fly? Yes. Land? No. Anyway, so I hate to everybody that was in that airport. Again. They were all fat asses. They were all taking my seat. Every Florida. Every one of them took my seat in the airport. But it was really a really good except for the fact that the phone didn't work, and I couldn't no one knew when I was coming home because I couldn't call my wife. That's not fair. In this day and age, and it's not like there's like a bank of payphones. We could just man up and and she was worried sick. When I got pulled, I finally pulled in the driveway, she ran out in her bathrobe, and gave me a big hug. Oh my God. You're home. You made it. I believe my God, you're naked. I believed every part of that story until the end. So your phone kept out on crap shout. So I don't have a usable phone. Okay, now I see, I said, first thing tomorrow morning, I got to go to the Verizon store. And get the phone fixed, replace bad. I don't know, new one upgrade. I don't know. I gotta do something, 'cause you know, when you're a Lyft driver, you gotta have a phone. Okay. So I didn't have one. So I get up with no phone, I go to Verizon. I say, look, here's the problem. I walk in. Let's say it's 1 o'clock or something like that. 1 o'clock, I say, yeah, I need to get well, you were making an appointment. Making appointment. No, I'm here right now. I'm going to do well, we don't have anybody available to help you till 3 o'clock. What? I just drove half an hour to get to go to the store? We don't have anyone to help you. They always tell you to stop. You got to make an appointment. No. Never heard of this..

"That the 11 songs had been added to their music library without permission, and it was not easy to delete. It was a rare stumble for Apple and YouTube. And that's when it went down. You're Rocco manak on I Heart radio is 11 20 on this frying Natalie Rodriquez. Natalie their pride. Google has a new app to help you. If you can't remember the name of the song you know their shoes, Sam that you can just kind of hold your phone up to the speaker and it reads the music and tells you what song it is and who the artist is and lyrics and the whole nine. Well, users can open the Google app and tap the mic icon and say, What's this song or click the Search song button? You can sing, You can hum the tune. If you can't remember the lyrics for about 10 to 15 seconds worth of the solid over. You could remember And then Google's Ai ai algorithms will try to identify potential song matches, and then it displays the most likely option. Be interesting to see how humming challenged it can still effective. This's hell. How out of tune and competing tone deaf, it isthe. Every time I hear she's and by the way, I always think of Sam. Yeah, UT right yet. It's a generational thing, I suppose and speaking of which all may not be right with the world. Lord knows 2020 insert your adjective here, but I gotta tell you that this was actually kind of cool. Claudia earlier this week, said Hey, You want to do this on Friday because it's been a tradition here. And there's something so reassuring. About the opening. Of Joe's Stone crab. Over 100 years. And this year in particular, I think we could use something that we can feel good about and here to talk about the opening Not only have Stone crab season, which happened yesterday, but also Joe's as things get going again today is once again the fourth generation owner of Joe's Stephen sites, and you may follow at Joe's Stone crab on Twitter. All right, Steve. Tell us about stone crab season add jobs. Well, Good morning, Brian. And if I could add a little to the Google song thinking I'm going to start playing the song Help somebody. I mean, that was that fascinated. I have them but I'll check out the Google one. Don't as you mentioned. The Stone Crab Season Act officially began yesterday or actually, the that 12 midnight off between the 14th and the 15th and our fleet and many fleets across the state up and down the coast who laid their traps out a couple of weeks ago. Went out to do get their first poll and you know it was okay, Paul. It wasn't the best pull in the world. But there's plenty of fresh coming to Joe's, and there will be Fresh around the state. Ah, you know, in the beginning, at least, and the fishermen have thousands upon thousands of traps tens of thousands of traps all over the state. So you know, in at least in the very beginning. You know we're up to. We're cautiously optimistic. There are other years where the pole is a little bit less, and we ended up to having a great year just because of weather and and octopus went away. So you know it's too early to tell what kind of season it is. Well, we're certainly at day one of the season, which is, uh, that is exciting in and of itself. They get some calamari, too, and and help protect his time population. Yes, that would be yes column are is definitely a big thing. It does offset there's there's a check and balance thing going on there, and there's other things on the menu, of course, but I know there's an anticipation. Five months of waiting for the season to begin our our truck from Ernest Hamilton Stone crabs over in Everglades City literally got here about 10 minutes ago. So the fresh are here. So we've got him a Jos and at you know, at four o'clock our you know our bar will open or cocktails will be served. And then at five o'clock, we opened the doors to go inside and we will have a Joe's backyard area, which is designated it's outside on the East side. Where if people want to sit out, our customers want to check out the outside? There's attend. There's lounge e kind of chairs and seats and tables and stuff outside so they can have a cocktail. They're well spread out. So nobody is going to be paranoid about the person next to him because they're kind of far away And are our servers were being trained on exactly how to space themselves. How to wear the mask How to approach a table. We open your door when you walk into Joe's will actually have door people that are people door openers. And we spray hands would go through all the protocols that our county and our city came up with during the summer months or actually spring months. So actually the interesting way we had a lot of time to prepare for this whole thing. You know, there's still a lot of anxiety. Okay, so we had a lot of time prepared, but many restaurants are in the habit of doing it. We just have to. You know, our takeaway is used to it. Our servers are going to be used to it and they're going to have to adjust a little bit, That's all but we're really excited. Steve, you mentioned that the first pole wasn't wasn't necessarily great. There have been some thought that maybe because of the pandemic, there's a little bit of a break on the stone crabs. Although I do know the seasons, two weeks shorter's anyone may 1st next year. What do you have a read on the population? At this point? Maybe it didn't turn out to be as good Maybe because the active pious as you suggested. You know, there's so many variables that go into that formula. And the only thing that really matters is what we're pulling up out of the water so there could be an overpopulation where we don't fish. You know, I mean, we don't know. So the the What we do know is that the sizing of the legal sized crab has gone up, meaning that the smallest crowd that could be pulled is bigger than it was for the last 50 60 years, So it's smaller than a certain size because they raised the minimum size. If it's smaller, they can't pull it so there may be less pound is just because of that. Okay, so there will be larger Klaus as a percentage. Let's say that's number one number two. We stopped. Our fishermen from bathing their traps on March 17th of 2020. They finished pulling their traps by the end of March because they were still in the water, and they had thousands of traps. Okay? Now. That means that in April up to mid May, there was no pulling. There was no baiting. There was no nothing so the crabs have a little time to spawn Teo to develop eggs. And to flourish, So we're expecting a great start. But mother Nature doesn't always cooperate that quickly. It takes time to build an inventory and because they're cutting the season a little bit short when I say they There was a co op a corroboration or collaboration between The fisherman, the wholesalers and the state of Florida. And so they decided to cut it too early May rather than mid May. So the season is two weeks shorter like you mentioned Brian. And we hope over time that that will raise the general population of the stone crab catch, which is a good thing. See, we think with the long term play Thank you for joining us and certainly a tradition. And I think in time which a lot of people are looking for some great food and normalcy, Joe certainly can provide that to bring your mask and Jos will take care of the rest..

For doing the work, he got the name. Call Your County in his own name, which gave him a lot of. Power a lot of really in the end. Yeah I mean he had the county in his own name, so he had he was the county seat. You know so. He approved to disapprove permits. You know for his own businesses He ended up passing away. Fairly short early on I, think nineteen thirty nine, but. David Graham Copeland what his business manager and continued to go on and do a lot of good things, and so even from him. We have a lot of the civil war sites marked out and. Historic sites list all. No, because he took the time to put them in place, and I'm still still think in the loop road builders name. The everglades river of grass was published the same year that president harry s truman dedicated the everglades national park long before environmental scientists fully understood the fragility and interconnectedness of the everglades ecosystem douglas railed against efforts by the us army corps of engineers to drain divert parts of the sprawling wetlands to to make room for agricultural and urban development. These efforts continue today. The school was dedicated in nineteen ninety when douglas was one hundred years old and still going strong along with her book. Douglas provided a new way of understanding the one point five million acre wetlands preserve rather than seeing it as merely a sprawling swamp douglas rightly described the everglades massive slow moving river of shallow water draining north to south from lake okeechobee down through the sawgrass prairies and emptying into the florida florida bay in moving pros douglas road of the hundreds of species of birds fish and flora that thrived in the precariously balanced ecosystem of the everglades the largest subtropical wilderness in the united states. Mrs douglas was half the size of her fellow. Her voice had sobering effect of a one room schoolmarm. 's the tone itself seemed tame. The dry winter and the monsoon summer and scientists now understand that seasonal fluctuations in water levels are key to maintaining the delicate equilibrium between competing plant and animal species but that balanced spend dangerously disturbed decades of habitat loss and short-sighted water-management tactics tactics. So we are here sitting in our studio every single day, you know, bringing something interesting something new today subject is, and it is ten things you might not know about Maples. It's not actually just Naples, but it's the surrounding area and just starting off on this. I want to say, you know, we're known for pristine beaches. Yes, you know, sunset, and we are also known for great podcast. The. Euboea VR. So it's the golf capital of the United States. And so there you have it. But you know, we're surrounded by most Italian restaurants in on St.. Maybe the French bitter. Get busy down there on better. But anyway, all the Naples is surrounded by golf courses communities beaches, you know, restaurants nice streets like fifth, and that type of thing you're actually surrounded by one of the most awesome ecosystems in the world. And we're going to talk about a few. You have all in the world. You know, how walled is big. That's huge. And so do you mean like the biggest it's one of the best? Okay. Maybe I'll correct myself. It is one of the biggest and best ecosystems that ever ever ever go in see. And you know what? I now I'm thinking, well, just let me just give you one one of the one of the facts, and some people may know, you may be a local live down here know all about this place, and where you may be a tourist and don't know. So some people may know the information some might not. But here goes I point did, you know, according to trip. Advisors travels choice award Marco island is the number one island in the US and number four in the world. Remember, I just said in you mean by visits or what they decide how how it's the number one. It's choice that they made. Number two. I just wanna touch sharing just put. Inputs like my thoughts. Right. So like then fifteen years ago Tripadvisor was a joke. People are like, you know, taking joke, and look how much credibility burnt. I mean, they say something, right? And even talking about it on a podcast. I mean right now the amount of the people using trip advisor. And I it's based on their opinions. They take this really seriously. So it's really nice to see you know, how rating the I mean the Marco island. Yeah. Because his seriously vengeful wonderful island, and is number one rated it's never one rated in the US and in the world, take that into perspective. Listen to be in the world think about how big the world is saying, it's unbelievable. Well, it's believable. I guess coordin- trip advisor. But you have both been there. I love mar. Okay. People. Let me love mar Levin, I do too. I don't go to often. But when I go, you know, it's it's a pain sometime because the travels so let me just say people Ma. Island is really nice island. So if you don't have to go there just don't because when we go there, we don't know parking spaces, whatever to get there. You not all of you cannot go there understand that please just keep some, you know, some spaces for the locals. For the. You know, that's true soon going to be traveling by Baltimore God. Because seriously, the whole island is very hard to even park next to Starbucks. It's just so one way way out and willing. Luckily, I know some tricks how to bargain some of the places. Sure, those drinks I cannot reveal you can't disclose now. Yeah. But in oh seriously. It's wonderful wonderful right next ten thousand islands. I was just going to mention sorry. Don't you Marco island is the largest of the ten thousand islands in? This is a group of islands that are famous for kayaking fishing and also gathering shelf. Yes. Yeah. And you can just like, you know, there's all kinds of water support activities. Like, you know, you can you can get tour guides that will be you know, that you can discover on our website right things to do in that type of thing or write your own jet, skier, whatever and just hop from island island. You know, you know, even just just. Get out there and enjoy there's so many different ten thousand islands Agean that sit conceal something you do. Okay. So I when I got here like twenty three years ago, I had the best job into all I worked for a big corporation. But I very soon realize the expenses are higher than what I was making here. Yeah. Competitive what I was making Europe. And so I had to take another job, and I had the best job in my life. And that was on the beach in Marco island, and I was I was working boy. No, no, no, no. I was working at the beach attendant, and he were doing tours in ten thousand islands we were doing renting jet skis, and you're like setting of them. I mean, I was little bit younger than today. You know? And it was really good job because I had such a beautiful if you, you know, everything all do realize of or in my view and passed them those water. Yeah. It doesn't really care about much. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And and I was singled that time. Yeah. There you go. So you can imagine. Yeah. That was the best job. Your eyes popping all the saying. You know is popping that what I'm saying is, you know, the job didn't feel like job vacation because somebody rent jet ski head to show them. How it works under my boss? His name was Richard in the rising there, by the way, I will be talking about him next few gas because he dust tours and ten thousand islands until today. And he's one of the most knowledgeable guy in the ten thousand islands and his job there because you know, if you get lost in thousand islands, you cannot find maybe just John groves all kinds of you need to to to be well schooled to be tried those waters. They are cases where people get the, you know, end up in jetskis in girls. And they're those situations very interest keep in mind that you want to get somebody who knows they are. Yeah. But when when somebody rent a jet ski. Hit to always test it with us. The jury had to test it before put it away. Yeah. And he always said, you cost me so much money on gas amply cost me. I always say listen, I have to make sure the customers happy and satisfied. Yeah. His operating properly. I have so many hours onto jetski that I don't have to ride jet skier. Don experience all of the till? Let's go to point. Then there's also the Everglades waterway in this runs from Everglade city to Flamingo, and it's a great place to kayak again. And did, you know, here's an interesting fact that it's actually ninety nine miles long and takes seven to nine days to complete what walking just by guess, I don't know, obviously, kayaking or whatever. Stephon days cocky, you're getting I don't think there's going to be any trails that diesel seven ten miles a day. Yeah. I mean, pretty lazy. I mean, maybe you you're superhuman can get seven days. But I'm just presenting the facts, let me just let me explain if I go on kayak is usually rented kayak, and that is limited in time. So you should see the speed. I'm taking up if I have only two hours you ever motor in it. No, I have two hours to get back, and I don't wanna pay extra fee. You should. Always saving the dollar. Cise out of it to I come back. That's cardio. I get some mileage on that for an extra five bucks. Yeah. They look at the where you been they get some snow on it. Yeah. Go ahead. Then you have the fuck patchy strand. Preserve, and this is a preserve that helps out the environment, and is also home to the ghost orchid, and I disliked the say home to the ghost orchid because we have an article written about the ghost on our website. In are interesting. You know history about it. Yeah. And it's really awesome might want to check that out. And then I kind of have nickname. It goes back to Hatschi master. Yeah. That's actually sticker on your color. I do I do. And so you get a lot of respect for that. Yeah. Even the police. And I just want to mention the orchid good distorted goes begging like thirties, right thirties or something. And it is really interesting story. I'm this is the only place in the wall a game where ghost orchid actually exists. Yeah. It's really awesome in its unique species and just read that article, and and just get get get the history of that. Really amazing. Yeah. It's just amazing. And then you have a did, you know that the western Everglades is the only place in the world where you can see alligators and crocodiles living in the same attitude while now these are saltwater crocodiles, by the way, most people probably crosses the United States. Wouldn't even know that there was an actual crocodile species here in the United States. Okay. So I have two questions educational question. We're gonna test you right, now don't know. Not that. I'm the inhouse pharmacists Nessie house. Professor. Yes, alo-. It's simple question. So do you know how I altogether can run short of distance. I have no idea. Okay. So you just got the points and. Probably won't know the answers to the questions to or you said two questions to don't overload, my brain. Yes. So he can run forty miles an hour chilies. That's a man the best way to do run away from exact. Yes, sir guy in Florida, h one. Yeah. Exactly to do. You know, how recognize the difference between alligators and cloakroom by the teeth. I guess no. But the shape of their mouth. Okay. Yeah. Crooked is more like pointy the on the and and alligators more like why why short NY almost like you short? What?
