"Paulie is a question about the broadcast. He is a big Ray Ferraro fan and says, you know the only way broadcast could be better of Rhode, Ferraro was inside one of the bubbles automatically licking your ears so. Paulie yes, Pol yet S- He he gets our attention here on rigs ask. Anything. All he wants knows of quality of the broadcast as good or better than you expect and I think the police talking about the play by play guys or the analysts, maybe to some degree because man, you know, I'm listening to the radio guys when I'm driving home and. They're calling us off tube right or some love. Anyway, it's. It's a significant challenge. But Everything Inc I've been impressed by how `bout you. Guys have done a really good job. It's not easy. I've called Games off off to before and you have to envision. The only thing they can see is what you see on your TV. When you're in the building, of course, you can see everything and there is there's great value in that. There are some highlights that I wish. We could see again that I don't think they get to a part of the problem with that is each bubble Toronto and Edmonton they have what's called a world feed and so. that. Feed that broadcasts is the same for everybody. and. So they're limited by the time they have. To produce the highlights to turn them all I'm talking about the in game one saw in between periods. But it that the world feed really limits a lot of what can be done and I I mean. That would be my only critique of it but I. I wish I was doing the game to. All right final question Joe. Is there a player standing out that you didn't expect would stand? Will let me look through the thing. Well. I mean Special Coffin Carolina is he's going to be a terrific young player I mean he already is. Going to be he's going to be. An awesome player. And there they are there through. I'm looking through. You know why? Like in Minnesota's Lukman? Yeah, he's had to really good Games really really impactful. For Minnesota. Yeah, but as far as you know I'm GonNa. Let me throw one out of you. Okay. And and it wouldn't say under the radar because this isn't fair to him. Andrew. Upon pawning for. Yeah. The Calgary flames. Weeded post of game three of the jets and the flames and I mean I i. think he's at a very good series to this point, but he just brings. An element and ingredient to that flames lineup that works you know the kid can skate. Unite talked about this. Last. Night, and again, this morning he's he's feisty, which means it's hard on the Ford truck. He makes smart quick plays on any is being rewarded. I mean, here's a kid that is and he's a six rowdy. Yeah. Now, Drake's member in the series last year against Colorado. Module Pony was one of the one of the few flames that was. That had a good series and by the way. As a fellow Italian. I, love that name. Kind of makes me hungry. Doesn't like it kind of like you're eating Monje. I. I'm not sure and I. I'm surprised I'M GONNA, give myself a bit credit here. I. Think, I'd get his name right more than get a wrong man Giovanni but. For whatever reason it does roll off the tongue year. Right. But when you look at it, it looks like, Oh, no, it's like Kotkin the. Say That five times fast, I. Mean it's in nobody says while some, let's say whether we say the right way the wrong way we say the same way, but I've heard the broadcasters in Montreal they're saying whatever it's not in the emmy. So I think I'm wrong when I say it. But that's what I say if you say it wrong the first time. Yeah, and you know you've got it wrong man. Then it's a minefield like you. I know I got it. Wrong. So you say different the next time. And now you think you got it wrong. Then when we do these names at the world junior tournament man, there's a couple there I'm like all I don't want. I hope this guy member attracted the pocket. A module. Ponti. That one. Yeah. What's the we always talk about this kid let Lipchitz dip shits. Stipulates Simpson. he was my guy. defenseman hungry. Yeah. At the world championships and. Every time Gordon would say his name I. I was like I was twelve I just. I wanted him to see it. He wouldn't do it and I said it's factual. Why can't you say soft dump in the corner by stiff shits. That's what happened. He had the pocket just in the corner okay. Step Shit surrounded by two hose. Why not? The Mindy. Sebastian. There we go. Time for a break high school again, Ray. All. Speaking of a brave. What's your? You don't have much of a break. But what's what's your week looking like is we get ready for episode thirty seven. Watcher five games or is the five games? A day is possible. kids busy. So we're trying to get outside and keep them occupied, but man, the week's start to get busy again and and I'm really happy. They are yet still with the overview of things aren't the same. So I, am moving on August tenth, which is Monday. Right. But we've gone through this process of trying to get rid of a lot of stuff in our house, right? So we're using garage sale facebook. My kids are in charge of it I've done very well in selling privately. The the office furniture, the desk that's behind the desk in front of me. All of this was designed specifically for the current. House that I'm in the office that I'm in. So it's an extra large desks which won't fit in my new office. So it's been sold and it's being removed moral being Thursday. So. I'M GONNA. Steal a page from Rafer Iras playbook here, and I'm going to be doing my hits for Sports Center in the bathroom in the living wherever. Wherever works I don't care about that I. Think it'll look fine to i. mean you know here's the.

"It, and so that doesn't come easy and for Vander and a keen Matt Dumbo and everybody involved with the hockey diversity alliance. They know what's at stake, but they're not worried or concerned with the negative. They've faced the negative of pretty much your entire lives there now committed to making a difference and. It's just so interesting lightning to listen to these men speak with a passion and the emotion, and again the commitment that they speak with. Drake's at the at the end. That's. Why I asked like, are you doing this? Are you guys at this every day? And it is an everyday thing. They've lived every day like this. They want to make it better his last answerable talking about what they wanNA. Do at the grassroots level when he called it the cradle-to-grave. I just I mean, this is such. An enormous commitment that these that the hockey diversity alliances is is starting and wants to partner with various groups in leagues and It, it's not. It'll never be as quick as it should be yet. Their commitment is. To putting in the work, as he said, it's been on I. Don't think he is. Not Saying. Hey, this is green, he meets were getting stuff. And it is really and that's not lip service. We know that soon we we read is his quotes and quotes from mad and frank server piece recently on tsn dot ca, and we just heard the vander again, speak with conviction. Here's what we need from the national hockey. League moving forward. Here's what we expect them to sign in partnership with us. And if that doesn't happen. Reasonable time line. Then you know that. Is Not maybe not coming out swinging, but they're going to make it clear commissioner's office or wherever they're dealing directly with the NHL level. chop-chop you said, you were going to do this and we're committed making that happen getting dumped. An one thing I will say that you know I think we kind of lose sight. We look at what the athletes should do and who should support what? You got to remember these guys are in their twenties, think of our awareness of anything in our twenties as opposed to now, and that makes what they're doing all the more. Impressive admirable right. And it's up, it's up to us. It's up, it's up to us to to Syria and to do what we can. All right were about to slide into aspirin. Griggs anything. Right, and we've got some developing not breaking news from the Toronto Maple leaves the club announcing that first of all, it's good news Jake Mazdas. You know spent the night in hospital for observation reasons for precautionary reasons. He has since been released. He is not back in the bubble with the Toronto Maple leaves. That's the good news is that he's out a hospital. So that gives us an indication that he's going to be. Okay. But the maple leaves fully disclosing that he will not be available to them for the remainder of their series versus the Columbus Blue Jackets now that's gotTa be both health related and to some degree protocol related because he'll remaining warranting ingenious hotel inside the so good news being that yes, long-term and short-term he's going to be okay. Yeah. I. Think a couple things here I mean I, of course is the Is. His health is good that. When he was observed overnight that that everybody's comfortable that he's okay. But then to go back into the bubble, he's going to be in quarantine within the bubble. So. I know. A lot of people were talking about, Hey, are the rules are no rules? He left the Bob like when he comes back in, how can he be available to play if that were the case and so I? While everything is I think there's different stages of this stuff He's He's GonNa be in a in a quarantine. Within this bubble. He'll have to have some negative tests before he's able to play, but certainly a, the road is that you've gotta get healthy. I. But that that is great news. Terrific. God me anytime. You see a player stretchered off you serious I mean the medical personnel doing their their job new diligence and making sure that the safety of the players is first and foremost. We. We we always want to attach almost. Warriors sort of label to NHL players a lot of NHL. Players. Right. They could Jay Muslim. You know he's not the type of player that goes down in the heat. I, mean, when he's her, he is her and the fact that he stayed down as long as he had to to be looked after I. Mean, there was considerable worry. So great news for Jake and a and his family as well. All right. Go. Ahead, right. Do I was just going to say now the mandate, it's funny how it is until the ball rolls over and so I guess that means it's Rasmi sandy that will jump into the playoff series tied one game apiece and against the Columbus team that wants to four check wants to be physical and Toronto? Will? Miss? Will Miss Month and a great deal I think in that regard, no question and just a reminder. This is episode thirty, six of the ranger eggs podcast recording on. Wednesday. So if anything has changed and you're listening this. After Wednesday evening or you know moving forward than you can appreciate where responding to the very latest on the Jake Muslim situation. All Right, ask, Ray Griggs anything question one from Christian Ray. What are the chances that the two thousand and twenty? Twenty? One NHL Playoffs. We'll have play around and the top four teams get a bye I. Assume that Christian is enjoying al things going here and the look of it and. Entertained enough that he wants to kill the consider I. don't see it. But what do you think? I can't see it for for twenty twenty, one in particular because the season's not gonNa, Start December January. That's provided. Everything goes right. So. If you're GONNA, add another round. I mean like it's GonNa. Be Round the clock hockey here and I just I can't see it happening In in its for the twenty twenty, one, season I I do think there will be enough of a push because the finances will be there for a small play in round at some point, maybe two or three between the eighth and ninth seed. You know. Without getting into a long. Conversation about this I think it is possible and probable in the future..

"We're doing on the rain. Great occupied cast by San Jose sharks forward co-head pocket diversity alliance, Evanger Kane who was. Training like a wild man in. A. Patient. For what's to come the start of the two that wanting twenty one season. We'll get to the heavy stuff, just a moment, vander, but talk about What's? Your days. Are you enjoying what you've seen far in hockey that has returned to the? I appreciate you trying to get me a plug insert training. Pretty non existent be honest But yeah, no. You, know obviously, I just had. My daughter. Kensington. So I've been fortunate enough to be spending a lot of time with her enjoying her and You. Know it's been It's been a real change for us just learning and getting USTA having a baby. Oh. Good. For you. Never ends and there's a lot of. Rain I both now. So I know what you're looking forward to it. I'm. Obviously you HDA were critical of the national hockey. League's lack of support black players. To the start of the twenty four, Fourteen ferment, mad, Dhamma Vander made an unbelievable. Emotional speech huge impact without speech on Saturday is Z.. H. in the National Hockey League. Now, closer closer to a common goal I think. So I think so. Going back to map speech I thought he did a great job. It's a Lotta Lotta leadership A lot of courage to to be able to go up there in that format and say what he sat and obviously did what he did. In on taking a knee for the abdomen I wish. I would have been able to be there to support 'em an adult members of our alliance. Philistine way. To your point on on rb closer. With regards, Combo. The NHL I believe. So I hope that continues to to become closer and closer as we further our discussions and I think the weekend was was a positive step. In that direction, we want to continue to make more steps in that direction order to ultimately reach our goal, which is going to take time we understand that, but at the same time we have to act. Vander. I was just going to ask you that is there. Is there an impatience to wanting the change or to wanting to get? Our our game, our culture to where it needs to me as opposed to the time, it takes to actually make change. Yeah. It's. It's tough. It's frustrating. Hockey is so far behind some other, a lot of the other sports and I think. In. Nobody loves the game more than me, I, I think. Call me bias but. I think hobbies the greatest sport and I get frustrated with the lack of respect that aw players. Get specifically among other sports in the US because I think our sport is the hardest play and part of the reason is, is we don't get enough. Notoriety is players and a big reason has because of the lack of diversity, a sport, the lack of Exposure we have is players and. The culture of our Spartan History of our sport and I. think that's something that we need to play catch up in a hurry. And hopefully we can. We can do I. Mean we we actually promises the some of the people that are making these decisions are happy with the status quo. and. That's that's the the the hill we have to get over and and make sure in an educated on. What needs to? In wanted to get to happen at the end of the day. It's all about money. And this is going to help everybody make more money. So. How how do you get guys to understand? because. It's been a forever age problem that. It's okay to be yourself. Like. You've. You've always of Andrew. I started to be introduced to you around I can. You guys were. And like you always had this way of being yourself whether it piss people off or not or whether people like it or not. You were just you which was. Pretty incredible. Actually considering you were so young and yet how do people learn that? Like 'cause we're in this game that we all walk the same address that same and I mean. That's what we did. My H. How do you guys change that? Well, you know it's it's GonNa, require a suspicion from players. In a willingness to do that I mean. You go back to the first couple of years in the. League. In Atlanta in on granted it ran all you played there. There is no issues. It was an easy place to be be yourself be hockey player fit in and then? We. Moved to Winnipeg and to be honest is nobody more excited than I was to go there because? I'm planning the Canadian market. It's lights camera action came to the IT'S GONNA. Be Hockey hockey hockey. Perfect. Love it. I'm excited great here by all this bullshit. Continues to swirl because all I'm doing is doing what I was doing in my first years where there were no issues, but all the sudden. Now, there's an issue because of. Maybe a change of culture change in place and and I. Think you know I was a little surprised by that as a twenty I, think that my first year. Beg there was and and I think I was the only player really doing that in the league, maybe outside of a key cake. And now you're starting to see a shift with some young your players. Even Canadian markets that are. Trying to be themselves, but they're being race the. It's OK. They're getting the Go ahead from whatever is fans media, whatever maybe. But why is that? Why is there such a change now? Do I think it had something to do with raids? A hundred percent of also have also I? Think it has something new with now, The Times in that was seventy eight years ago. Sure I, I think time self as well. But. Not For me looked at in such a negative light, but the kids coming in today's game. It's all their ups. You need. That's fallen. That's Style personality. Wire those words being thrown out there when when it was made was that's caught at arrogant. That's bad. That's not me. That's that's ridiculous. was because it was okay. So you because of race is one issue and I think looking back that would be pretty fair to say and to would be. You just had. flair difference Most of US walked in I said this before we walked into the rink. The same way we stressed the same. We like I can't even believe there's a discussion -able dress code like. Who cares what you wear to the rake? Yet, that's all seems like how do you? How do you keep it all on the track of vander that it's not eighty seven different things as opposed to what you really want. Each day really wants to accomplish. What you know what you're talking about? Something as simple as dress code.

"They carry the top Swiss luxury watch brands and you know those firsthand based on a recent trip, Tila Guira yards in Lagaras. In in West. Vancouver just last week and was doing some stuff in there and they. They're watch displays and the and the quantity and quality of the watches are really quite remarkable. I spent a lot of time around the Tesol spot and I mean we not so was you know when you're at a world championship or world junior championships there the official timekeepers. they have partnerships with with the NBA and the Moto G P and the Tour de France, but was really cool. Drake's was I got to look at their Derek they're like these exclusive collapse that they have With the Raptors storm riders the motor GP a wearing one of the Peace Corps election watches and they're they're all uniquely designed the really cool. They can be as flashy or non flashes you want. So you know me let's flashy. Man, some of them look good. They look I. Mean. Not. The. Wall. I tried walking out and they're like. Come back. So I, I, just liked it. I was even drawn to the ones drake's I wouldn't normally look to it just looked so good and. They have a multitude of options and I highly recommend checking them all. Well, it is everything that you want in a sports, watch their precise contemporary, and.

"And. We were dumbfounded at how little he was. And now he's certainly bigger. Of course, that's four five years ago, but he's not a big guy. He's smart smarty slick. He's toffees man what a player and got eight points. He leads the League right now in points, he's my, he's my playoff performer. Maybe Montreal should offered more money in their offer she. No kidding. I'm and I was I was just thinking. But those are two things I was thinking about as you're describing. That being one, I'll Mark Berge van needed dip deep or deeper news buckets. That player was was there for the taking, but you had to step up and then the other thing was you mentioned World Juniors I. Remember when Billy Peters Coach, Canada the the World Men's hockey championship that was right before a Ho came over to play for the Carolina Hurricanes and he was still coaching the hurricanes at the time and man, he couldn't stop talking about how and how excited people has to get him into the NHL told Ron Francis, who was the general manager of the drafted him. Now, that's all you gotta do in Seattle, is just trying to like hold. So we're looking now they're looking. All right are doer playoff performance for the past week. When you want performance denim, you gotta go a doer, the world's most comfortable pants. I. I love my Dur Jeans and you know what? I don't know why. because. They fit you. They're super stretchy. They are super stressed. So were you able to get a waist size that you normally wouldn't get? I'm with. Yeah. I went with a thirty six, which is normally pretty comfortable. I wouldn't say in the snug side because I don't wear tight jeans way past that stage in my life. So I, thought about the thirty six. Then because of the the super scratchy fabric that it'll be just perfect and it's perfect. They are they are outstanding. Super comfortable. I, of course, mine came and I had to get had to get them because I like the shorter legs in. Had to go get some work done. But I, love I would I was surprised because I didn't know a lot about them became an a one, another pair. Awesome well will work on getting another pair and you can certainly get a pair of jeans. And get fifteen percent off by the way. Use.

"I I just can't imagine being convinced otherwise. Line a hurts his wrist. Guys have blocked shots who was Tucker Pool on the side of the face, and he comes back with a cage on. Like. Come on you like. `I uncomfortable. Is that like I know you've lost teeth or no, you haven't. But? I would never did hit in the head with a washout attempts. McGinnis broke by toll, but I was trying to get out of the way. Pool and like what these guys do to lie down like that get. So to me dregs the run of play injuries as opposed to. An inactivity injury, you know they now maybe like a training camp groin hip flexor, that sort of stuff. So John Tortorella a favorite of the rain drugs podcast mostly because everyone who was a guest on the podcast is were rooting for one of our favorites. vintage toward in the playoffs is post games or must watch even though they're so incredibly quick doesn't mess around and he actually talked about that on the podcast with us. Now several weeks ago. He said he's not very good at he hates doing them. It's just because he's motionlessly charge, right? Back to Tampa, Bay winning Sally Cup four and John Graham. Didn't have a very good game and towards came all blasted him after the game and said, just mix in a save I'm sick of the twenty five percent rule because you made. They scored four times and sixteen shots. Anyway point is he's trying to learn from that. So after game two versus the leafs, he was having none of it, right? It's just somebody would ask a question and he said Tronto is good. We suck. Toronto is good. We sucked that was the essence of it. But. Did you see the exchange on the bench? All we ask order Allah. In pure Luke Dubois I. Mean I didn't know what to make of it other than torches done that probably a bazillion times but. I I'm sure as a player Dubois. As heard this, he's head towards. Zero countless. Times. But I don't know how I would handle that. You know regardless of your age, you're still a grown man and your coach is like yelling in your. In do blondes have none of it like I mean I would love to hurt every word because he certainly wasn't sitting there nodding going understand coach. Yes. Coach I'll do better. Next time coach US push back while. So when towards towards said something and then he walked away and then he came back so. Whatever he said He. Something else triggered him and he he goes back and he's. Right he's rate in his ear and I found a pretty interesting, the way Dubois went went back out of them to, but here's the thing that I do know. Is that. I'll say he's okay with that. In that, he knows he's emotional at it. And he's The Guy Barks back. He probably is like that's part how. For her. It's not like there's going to be lasting damage. I would suspect between the two of them I mean that that becomes a discussion point between the two guys after the game or today, and that's over. But it is so rare because ports is probably one of very few that would. that. Would go at it like that. Now, that might happen in a in a coach's office or something, but on the bench, no, I I had something like that rates. With Al Arbour. and. So. It was in the playoffs in ninety three. It was game five against Pittsburgh? and. We were at a face. Often al moved the defenseman behind me. I thought that defenseman was on my left. And in the offensive zone and Ronnie. Francis saw that I had no idea and he shot at forward and Joy Mullen went and pick up the pocket I. Think it was Joey and went down and scored. So I came back to the bench and I'm like what is going on? Who moved the fricking defenseman? What's? An, Al came down and he blasted me. If if Ben Wa Hogan, Pat flatly by linemates could have gotten any further away from. I felt like I was on an island. So after they need bench to me now I was having like this unreal playoff, any bench me with like. Left. So, after the game I apologize they said, Hey, Al Look, that's my bad I should. I shouldn't yell back you. So I thought he was going to say, yeah. Okay. No problem goes God. Damn. Right. It is. I don't do that again. gave it to me again, and I was like I felt like. I was shrinking by the minute, but the next day it was fine and it was over. Yeah, and and I think that's the way dewine torchwood would look at this. I would agree with that. Anyway. John was right. Toronto was good and Columbus sock. that he really did Bud makes you look forward to the rest of the euro. Is GonNa be terrific hockey. Ray. We're going to wrap up the headlines as promised and name our players for the doer playoff performance of the week. More. To become more to come I, can't imagine that we're going to see greater individual acts we've already seen, but here's hoping because it'll be spectacular to be sure. I'm going to go with captain obvious and I'm GonNa take the efforts of Connor mcdavid I. Loved how he scored the first goal of his hat trick. The second goal is again, just the spectacle that I mean, we're we're going to look back on that on Youtube. For years, I mean. That's so nice that goal was, and then he had the hat trick goal to go along with that. So Connor mcdavid offers up our doer, perform a playoff performance from my perspective although use your player first team through is the Carolina Hurricanes and three-game sweep, and I'm going to take their brilliant star Sebastian. man what a goal he scored He addresses, Tony. The Angelo and immense flips the backhander. Hard to believe he was the second round pick. I mean, the guy is a star player and the first time I saw him. I was with Gordon Miller. We were at the world junior tournament health safety, and he was a Centerman for Jesse, puja RV and Patrick lining and everybody was staring at these two guys talking about these two guys him. who kind of got lost in in the whole deal? Woke Gordon, I were walking under under the rink like down by the locker rooms and a whole came out in, he was just in his grey shorts and.

"Find a way to to to combat pop down by dislocating his risks in flipping the toll of his stick around on all. All at full speed, and then to have the finish that he added to execute that goal. I mean, what comes to mind when you watch this kid like you wonder what Hex while I think for me, Drake's. It's not. It's not that he's got this skill because. Lots of players have skill and have fantastic skill. It's the ability to do it at the speed that he does it at which nobody else can do. I mean I suspect there are other guys in the league that. If. There is no pock and they were in a skating race that they would be in the right in the ballpark of mcdavid. But. To do with the puck on your stick. To make those little three-foot adjustments he makes for either left or right? He never loses speed. And, then you have to, and this is probably the great separator. Is. You can go that fast or you could have that skill, but you've gotta be able to see that and see that opening as you're going at that speed. Like there's there's a lot of players that will ski past an opening or they start their bursts a second too late, he sees it. It must I'd I'd love to be able to see what he sees because that's the first step like when he knocked that puck down. By, flippant, his stick over as it hit the ice now, it's still wobbling around and rate away. He makes the judgement that he could get outside Amata that he can flip the puck past Mata. Did he can run onto it. And then when he gets, you know by the time, he gets there. Yeah, which is a second and a half later, he's now right on the go lean. He's got to go to his back ending up over Crawford like it. There's just to do it that fast and bat like and to have that vision. There's nobody like that. No Wayne Gretzky used to talk about how he he felt. He watched the game and saw the game unfolded in slow motion, and even though clearly it wasn't that and he felt like he could just go this way that way and make the moves necessary I mean. That makes sense to me and I gotta believe that that's how connor season. You. Think he was going close to forty kilometers our. When, he saw that like the lack of that. Not just ridiculous because for for a lot of players, the Puck, is an anchor. And like it slows you down and. For him it just it doesn't like I. I don't like I. That was an amazing goal and you're right. They didn't play while they played terribly engaging one break from the goaltender out, and he had a kind of if it's possible to have a mediocre four points, he would. But they were, they were better in game two, but that series is bonkers I mean, yeah. goaltending been bad. There's been a the bad penalties. There's you know the winning team scored six goals each game like, yeah. I I know the coaches hate it an you know. But man I I really like It's entertaining for sure I, and of course, this is episode thirty, six and everything that we talk about most everything is going to be dated move upward. That's just the way it is. So I qualify it by bringing an online. Now, the orders the flames connects the leaves I, mean any team with success? has to have the big boys going I know that sounds cliche in. It sounds ridiculously simple, but it's crucial for success be in this type of Environment Two? Thousand Fourteen Field now, twenty three or any traditional postseason, it just boils down to that. Doesn't it? While, Travis Green in Vancouver had a great a great observation, you know he was talking about the lineup changes he was going to make from game one to game two in Vancouver that almost. All, centered around Jake for Tannin whether Jake would be in the lineup or not, and so travis talked about that for a while. But what he said is like, okay, that's one thing. But if our big guys don't get going, it's not going to matter with the bottom life does in a game one, six of the twelve forwards didn't have a shot, their top six was dead silent nothing. Right? And in game. Two. Jt Miller Tanner Pearson Brock Besser and Bullhorn Vat scored four the top six forwards and pederson again was excellent. He was the best player in both games even though. Though he probably doesn't have the the points to show for it, but they're big boy started to play. Now, Winnipeg's down to one in their series. They have no big players left. It seems like I mean crazy unbelievable. They go through all year were there amass unit and then the playoffs starting, they lose chiefly in Lyon in Appleton in one and somehow Paul Maurice Cobbles together the Group for game two and they win. But they're in they're in tough here if you know with those guys that's that's really difficult Toronto I thought they played okay at game one but many Tamara Smarter and Really. Got Going game to Mathews has been good both games thought Morgan Riley was was really good in game two. So they're big guys got going. Just as you say if. You can get by for a game or sold with with your your foot soldiers, but man you. Guys. Don't play for you. You're. You're in trouble now you touchstone Winnipeg's injuries. And look injuries have always been a part of hockey just goes hand in hand with how fast the game is played physical again, being whatnot Yeah Winnipeg's injury rashes off the charts rate now. We sauce scary stuff. You know in Toronto with with gig Muslin adding to be immobilized than stretchered off. Santa Hospital I mean nobody you never wanna see that kind of stuff. Clearly, we which Jake Muslim, his family, all the best is there any correlation between. The pause these guys being off for an extended period or just this just typical stuff that you learn to live with at any point of the season in hockey. They injuries. We've seen I'm going to say are. Kind of just part of the deal, I don't I. Don't know that they have anything to do with the with the pause and the guys rust. There, there is a play in the island or game not Brazil was going to the net and he he kinda reach back in chip the shot, any went flying over the goalie and hit the end boards. It was the first time drapes. You. Don't WanNA. See something that makes you sit in your chair hair like that was the one I was like, Oh, i. hope he's okay like the way he hit. And that happens or can happen in any game. That's not rust. The the Schaffler injury is unfortunate now. By the way, you can't. Nobody can sell me that that was intentional. Like you just can't I just. Yeah Paul Maurice just trying to deflect stick up for his team while. The temperature while I off, he was pissed off I night. Yeah, and and. I don't think that was anything other than he's angry that his star player was hurt. But if you look at the play and take aside whether you're a winnipeg fan or not watch when shy moves CA CHUCK IS GONNA move with him and try and adjust his his angle and watch his skate. It bounces on the is, and if you've ever been on skates as soon as your seatbelts, you have a a little bit out of control. And and to me, that's what happened. But that's A..

"Game because at the end of the game I've got a tape a hit for sportscenter. So the other night were watching it I realized halfway through the second period of We're about fifteen to seventeen minutes behind. The game clock, and I'm like I to go somewhere else or else I'm gonNA. Miss the hit. It just occurred to me. So I, I watch basically the last forty minutes of the game in thirty eight minutes to catch up, and she's doing her thing, and then she's got a file reports and it is it's really an involved process and I don't know if it's better or worse I, I haven't even really asked her to tell you the truth like is a better or worse. That you can. Like. So when they go to a game, they watch it in real time. Then they can come home and with the scouting program, they can watch an individual player every shift. Watch him only and so I. Wonder if it's better that way or if it's better to do with the way that they're doing it now and a mix of both or because I mean, this is what you got now. Right? You're not getting to the rate. So but it's really really involved and you know while I'm no help. That's for sure. All right. We're. We're going to get the headlines here in Saqib. I want you to think about this as I. go through all of the preamble because our friends endure genes of asked us to identify the top doer playoff performer right now. Give that give that some thought and man. It it. It sounds easy enough. But we have seen such great individual examples of skill already. To this point of the two, thousand, fourteen tournaments identify just one. Each is probably going to be the bigger challenge been some great stuff here. The thing. I. Think I'm surprised with Drake's is the the quality of the Games. Yeah. Is better than I thought it was going to be I. thought it was going to be really scrambling and really messy and yeah, there's some of that but. I've been really impressed. Do you notice a difference between the qualifying round and the Round Robin Games because that narrative has been out there at least on social media where the passion the intensity doesn't seem to be as high in the Round Robin Games I. I'm not sure I'm buying it but Maybe, you can have one officer examples of it in an can appreciate why that is. Yeah. I think there's another gear to be had for those round Robin Games. You know. I mean, just think of the very first couple of minutes of the Carolina Ranger game, which was the first game played Matt. It was like, are you kidding me? That's how this is going to be played. I was like holy blown away fighting out there, Justin? Williams's fighting a guy half his age. Derek. Well, it's like I don't think the Round Robin, Games they have the same. They don't capture me the same way I'll be honest with drake's I'm watching very little of them because they're so many games that really mean something I'm I'm more engaged in those ones I'm with you because you know you're going to see more from the Colorado, avalanche, the blues or whoever right right Rhino you're going to see more so I'm with you on that and the hockey I would after. After your sentiment I mean it is it has been largely terrific are headlines of presented by our Pals at Boston Pizza and their new pizza flights available for a limited time, three pizzas, three dips. Fish Bowl was the size of my head. And I don't know what it was. It was some rumbling fruity combination of things and how do we deal with it? Yeah. Not so good like I mean it was tasty. We know how did he deal with it? I mean, maybe he drank a third of it, it's a lot. It's a lot. So so last week episode thirty-five joked about in healthier times you and I would sit on Boston Pizza Patio with couples of laws and share official cocktail. I mean I don't think we. I. Don't think we could get through one together. It is a ridiculous amount of cocktail. So anyway. He I mean I had a little bit. He had some. Girlfriend had some and we still didn't get through it. "Evander Kane seems to get more negative headlines and positive headlights not from you of course you call right out of it you you you know he he is a let's go with a polarizing figure and there might be some larger issues behind all that that we won't get into right now but the dude does have what is it twenty three points in twenty six games I mean it's not as if he's playing bad hockey or we give in it is a national media given him a bad rap I think to a degree and and that that you know but that again goes along with him being a very polarizing choir right even on the socks was circling him he was the one that was getting all the power play goal he is that he isn't you know he's an up on that top line with login to care for you know for eighteen for a while now and the guy works his **** off he's so committed and he's and he's a player that can not just score goals but he can create plays such a dynamic athlete if he's been near through the sharks kind of up and down started season he's been one of their better players a lot of times but you know like you said when you have a player like that that that that is so polarized dating and has you know other things going on in that he's getting attention for I think that does take away from and that doesn't help that he seems to constantly be hidden dudes in the head and things like that and I don't know what is fine numbers this year but he he plays with a bit of an edge let's leave it that way cucumber and he's a very emotional player and that would be great thanks that's the that's the kind of thing that can fire team up in you know in before she can start from buffalo the searchers really how that can a player they were you know they were but not in that sense you didn't have a guy like that we laid out a big hit and get the rest of the team go and then Q. is that god or live this one at least one of those guys in that sense it's just there is again he's an emotional player and sometimes it goes a little too often the other direction so the the the way things are going right now I think the sharks have like no less than a year salary for one of us in cringe scribes to to deal with on the under this I think I got like thirty K. or something it's laughable you might as well as college zero obviously if they were to swing a trade some money would be going out so let's just leave that aside it doesn't seem as if they are in a flexible position to make upgrades kinda get maybe to where they need to go particularly at the goal tending position so who somebody on the roster currently who you think needs to step up here in the coming weeks and months if the sharks are going to get to let's be real I mean it's been Stanley Cup for bus for two years since their Carlson's got here it's felt like Stanley Cup or bust you have enough of the players to get there who really needs to step up at least as a skater because we know that the goalies are going to be an Achilles heel for this team can I say everybody at this and it's true something that something that has been since the offseason that hasn't happened yet is that sex is more from some of the young guys that are on this that are on this roster have you got any pictures you have your Amanda came thanks so much hurled at the palace he's been hurt he felt with two different kind of key injuries so he's not producing quite the same but you but you're young guys your Kalama banks small miners you need more from those guys that you have to give some props note that the truck still have trouble with that dept at their bottom six but you but you do not recognize god like Dillingham girl no quick cracker are crying yes you make that for some of that and at the same time that is I think the church don't be you know another winter and if they are going to make sometimes in males by the trade deadline that's probably what we're gonna see now what I now like like you know like you mentioned before hello so little cap space there's not a lot of wiggle room there so how is it how they would be able to make something like that work is a whole other thing that probably requires mass that I can't do it with my hand either connects but I think it was anything but certainly it's like you said earlier about there being about expectations and reality thank you very high expectations for these young players coming in some of them have it quite met that Selena Gomez covers the San Jose Sharks for NBC sports bay area thank you so much for coming on this was great will do it again soon and any time appreciate Serena coming on that that was good stuff I I love talking sharks hockey for hockey in general a very nebulous game very difficult to determine what exactly is the issue so many moving parts when you change on the fly things just get a little bit more wild than they do when you have a rigid substitution than the other sports and particularly rigid substitution to like baseball when you have a manager come out to the mound and say let's get the hell out of here so I love talking hockey that was a sport I first covered when I got into this game as cover and as I mentioned earlier the Florida Panthers and still hold the soft but my heart for that team so I don't know who I'm rooting for when the sharks in the Panthers get together but I I've I've both enjoyed and felt extreme pain in watching the sharks this year I'm hoping that this is the year I think couple couple weeks back before the season started months back she's we had on looking to tour and I I told him I thought this was the year of my to put the Jing Saddam need to pull that back because right now I'm not feeling that optimistic but this four game road trip with them going out to the east coast it it could turn things around for the San Jose Sharks and if that's the case I promise we will start talking even more shocked sharks hockey than we already do where every other show in the bay area is talking zero point zero percent you can divide by zero you can divide by how much shark sake we talk here on KNBR that with your curtain Bach all right we have more to the show after a break we got to pay some We're discussing a recent episode that Evanger Kane and Ryan Reeves have been getting into it and talking smack about each other and Kane accusing reeves make crap up about what their past actually is together and Well that's not at this story Evanger Kane and some hot water because Well I guess. He's decided that he's going to go down. Eugene Melnyk Lane and he like like Melnik is being sued by Casino in Canes Case. He's being sued by a Vegas Casino for five hundred thousand dollars in gambling credits nights casinos called the cosmopolitan and they're seeking repayment of legal fees from Kane as well. This all happened in late April when the sharks arx were taking on presumably in the playoffs. The Vegas Golden Knights Right and one would wonder where canes focused level was if you're in the middle of the freaking playoffs I mean if it's now in November and you got a game in Vegas fine but this was the freaking playoffs and and Well I mean San Jose Gone. They went onto win. But it's not exactly the focus you wanted to. Your player is my point. Well there's that issue is between game three and four. I read the story while they'RE IN VEGAS BY THE WAY Steve. The Cosmopolitan hotel is adjacent to the Balaj. Oh and the cosmopolitan I think is topless at the patio bar at the pool bar. Hey now I think they have this parties every once in a while you gotTa Watch for it. Did they sort of give you a nudge nudge. Wink wink maybe WANNA come between four and six today happier at the COSMO. stevie listen vander. Okay it's the same thing with Eugene Gene Melnik. You're not talking about something that I guarantee Steve. This is undisputable that you owe them five hundred grand or whatever the number is okay. They don't casinos kind of know what they're doing pal they don't lose track of go. Oh I'm sorry you did pay that. Oh I'm sorry yeah we missed that. Okay Hey these people do it all day long. They know what they're doing and usually making handle money hand over fist and frivolous lawsuits aren't really in their nature. What happens is I in fact I would be interested to know how they don't get their money because what happens if you're a big win? What they call a whale or a big hitter in Vegas? I know this you can walk in there and you're going to get a line of credit okay from the Casino and maybe your line of credit is a couple of hundred grand and the reason they do that is because you don't have two hundred thousand dollars cash in your pocket. So what happens. Is They set you up with the line of credit they know who you are. You're approved and you're gambling a thousand a hand in the end you and you go down around twenty grand or something and you're out of cash. Well then you just get a marker you see Gimme a market right. The pit boss comes over. He's got the form sign. The Slip Advancing advanced another twenty against his two hundred grand right. So it's all covered right. Usually they can just yank it right. I think right out of your bank account so it's really odd odd to me. How casinos are not guaranteed that? They're they're getting their money. You know I guess you'd probably a favor something. Maybe the pit boss goes. Yeah yeah he's good Fort Fort. He's good for now or or or they make a call the pit boss Mesa call and go. This guy wants another fifty and he's overs credit line. You know it's Vanderkaay. AINU makes six seven million a year and they probably I guess they go. Yeah no problem is good for apparently not according to the lawsuit withdrew eight markers all between twenty grand and one hundred unrig grand right so I guess actually know the answer to that. Because I've seen guys I know big hitters and I've watched them gamble and I know that they they will say fine. He's over this credit line that we approved them for. But it's it's Connie West here. This guy makes a billion a week. Just give them markers and he'll he'll he'll clear it up after so that's probably what happens with under King Dude Dude. You're what do you mean your sue. You're getting sued. Well how does it get to that. Pay Your Bill you. I'm sure at that level. It becomes almost like an etiquette thing or it's going to be constantly asking the guy for money. Hey it's evanger cain he's good for it. He's our guest special guest. We WanNa make sure we're taking care of that guy we don't we're not going to ask him. You keep going into his pocket and stuff. We'll figure this out later because he's a guy and you're in business you're in you're in the the business of making money here. The scene they make lots and the way they make a lot of money is plays like that you got to go. You're going bad here playing blackjack. And he's he's you. Oh you know. He's whipped through his line of credit key. Keep loading them keep giving it to happen. We're making money hand over fist but evander evander. There's no mistake there will be no mistake that you all them that money. Here's the Marcus here's what you signed. Here's what we took to your bank account and here's what you was okay by the way pal. It's all on video too okay. There's is a million cameras every six feet casino. Here's what you signed here was like dude. You're embarrassing yourself. Go pay it. You know you guys done a lot all of that in his career embarrassing himself. He's got to figure things out here because I mean he's just continually putting himself in in these troublesome situations Again again and again and it seems to be escalating here in this in this past year year and a half and Well I don't know what the future holds for this guy but he sure here is a terrific athletic talent. He just needs to get his head screwed on his girlfriend or wife or I don't know if he's buried or whatever and we go for dinner go for dinner and I'm GonNa do you have. Do you have the money here to pay cash. You sure. Everything's all right there slug pay your bill. It's hard to imagine like the guy is making some of the guys in the second year of his forty nine million dollar contract act like why is this even coming to light like why you just make like for for what you owe here versus the headlines You created and it just it's fascinating me a seven year forty nine million dollar contract and you still have six years left on it including this year Like you say pay pay your bills did. Yeah and Casino Steve. I'm pretty sure what they want to look after you write your will you're going to these guys who falls into the category gory that everything's free man when you come here. You're room is drinks. Show tickets whatever you want limo rides. Whatever the golf it's all paid for? It's all paid for or by the Casino. Okay tickets to the game all all that Shit. It's all paid for if the Casino is suing. You Okay Pal have given every every single effort so you lose a bunch of Dole. I've seen this happen. You get past you leave. Finally leave the table. Because you've got absolutely waxed and the the guy gets on a plane and goes home with Oh clearing up his bill like you're GONNA get a call from your body the managers saying Oh you slip out down there pal. How do you want to settle up here with the five hundred and you know he's GonNa make telling me well doesn't happen? It's me again you. You told me you'd have of this cleared up by Wednesday. They probably give the guy all sorts of moves on earth to do it. So if you're getting sued you're you're a slug. Here's luck all right we'll call it today. They're just reminder that Well for those who are listening on Thursday November seventh which is when we're recording this. It is Game Day since taking on the LA kings tonight. These are two teams that are particularly good. They're not expected to do a whole lot this year.
