"As you know, mayor , researchers at Ucla in Los Angeles say they actually saw significant increase in patients with respiratory failure in their hospitals beginning in late December that suggest that the virus may have been spreading much earlier than previously thought based on all the briefings you're getting all the expertise you're learning about the outbreak in La does that seem possible? ? It's possible. . We had no big outbreaks. . So we might have had some limited cases and we don't believe that most of our spread came from people that were here community spread we're such an international city. . This is the. . Fourth Busiest airport in the world the busiest container port in all of the Western. . Hemisphere. . So we have a lot of people who come through this very important crossroads and it's more likely that most infections came from there but absolutely, it , probably was in the United States certainly northern California and possibly down here a little bit earlier to one of the reasons I'm proud that we were the first big city to start shutting things down first. . Big City to say widespread Maske's had to be mandated <hes>. Those . things are important in those save lives if we'd had that at the national level and what we saw was devastating this week in Bob Woodward's book about not only knowing the threat but China downplay it, and , now everybody's trying to say, , oh, , he was trying to keep people calm keep people calm by telling them the truth and arming them with the ways to protect themselves and their families not by saying this will go away without a vaccine or you Don't need to wear a mask and those decisions unfortunately cost lives. . But at the local level I'm proud that you know mayors throughout this country and many governors Republican and Democratic took those right steps because now the evidence is showing, , it was probably here earlier than we imagined

"News top intelligence officials say multiple countries are attempting to interfere in the upcoming presidential election. I want to go to CNN senior justice correspondent Evan. Perez. Evan, tell us about the statement that was just released from the top election security official the intelligence community really going further than we've ever heard from him about these other countries trying to influence the election. That's. Right Pam. This is an unusual statement from Bill Nina. Who is a top official that the office of the Director of National Intelligence who is in charge as you pointed out of helping to prepare the government for the twenty twenty and trying to thwart some of the efforts of these foreign countries and the three countries he identifies as trying to essentially pick. Favorites in the twenty, twenty election Russia China and Iran, and I'll go through what the assessments are on each on China Evans says that we assess that China prefers and president trump who Beijing sees unpredictable does not win reelection. He talks about how the Chinese essentially are trying to undermine anyone who is criticizing the Chinese everything from the covid pandemic to obviously some of the more recent battles over Tiktok with regard to Russia we're seeing the same. Thing, that we saw in two thousand, sixteen according to Vena we assess that Russia is using a range of measures to primarily denigrate former vice president biden and what an anti Russia establishment, and that is an active effort Pamela to not only undermined his campaign. But also some people associated with the Kremlin according to Avenida, are also trying to help trump's campaign to at least use online influences to prop up his campaign as far as Iran Coz. Whatever Nina says is essentially, they're trying to undermine confidence in the US system trying to divide. This is a highly unusual statement to becoming just about one hundred days before Americans go to the polls and it's interesting. Obviously, you see that the Russians are doing pretty much what we all know. They did in two thousand sixteen the Chinese seem to be using a lot of things that the intelligence community either can't tell us all about or they're still trying to figure out exactly..

Let's talk first of all a little bit as dusk is falling as night is coming philadelphia that only adds a whole other layer four police on the scene the difficulty <hes> they will have to light up the area. They are trying to get their shooter to talk trying to assure this shooter or perhaps shooters. They said there could be more than one that that they will not be harmed if they come out what we know about how all of this began evan well well according to the police this began as some kind of narcotics <hes> call that this are these officers are responding to now. We don't know exactly what the details are of that edison. We don't know if they were doing with some kind of operation to try to buy drugs from someone in order to essentially set up a case bring charges against someone but it appears that the the suspect or suspects <hes> was expecting these officers and the officers were certainly caught unawares and so <hes> the chief chief. They're just described the. I think he was police. Commissioner he just described a situation where officers were having to bail out of windows trying to escape <hes> with their lives and it appears that these two officers remain inside the building now a little short while ago <hes> one of the reporters from our local affiliate k._y._w. Have you talked to four women who are being taken out outside of the building of that same building. They said that they were on the second floor. They'd seemed obviously extremely shaken can up and the police just described also the fact that there were people who were initially taken away from the people who perhaps were arrested so this was appears is to be a police operation that suddenly unraveled and went horribly wrong because this this this shooter or perhaps more than one opened and fire and as he said i mean we we were watching some of this anderson unfold especially in in the past hour. He was firing outside through the front door through the front window. <hes> we were told by sources that he was firing through the walls so again this very volatile situation that makes it very hard for the swat team to go in when you i know you have officers who are trapped somewhere inside. That building makes it a lot more more difficult to to to come up with a tactical plan to attack the situation i just i want to point out to our viewers. We are obviously also aware that it is very possible the shooter or if there's more than one in that building has access to a television aradio and maybe monitoring coverage of this <hes> and so we are being very select in what we are saying about put these any kind of tactical situation right and even some of the pictures we are showing. We obviously veasley police who are the ones who are really hoping to be communicating with with this person. Is it clear if this is a single family structure order there. Mr. Trump's decision making the president responded by calling shift, and I'm quoting the president now a political hack trying to make a name for himself. And he accused the California Democrat of what Mr. Trump called presidential harassment talk about that and more with Senator mazy run Rono of the judiciary and the armed services committees and our correspondents analysts specialists. They will have full coverage of the day's top stories. I details of the new investigation. The president is facing tonight. Our senior congressional correspondent maharaja up on Capitol Hill. Mono is the committee reprising for all practical purposes, the entire Muller investigation. Well, this is a very ambitious. His investigation wolf not only looking into Russian interference in the two thousand sixteen campaign as well as collusion if any existed between Trump campaign officials and the Russian and he conspiracy they may have occurred, but also with moving beyond Russia and the words of Adam Schiff that chairman of this committee looking into any financial interest driving the president and his family and looking at whether any other foreign interests are actually influencing the citizens within the White House, Adam Schiff making clear that he wants to look into a wide range of aspects as partisan as part of this investigation going forward, the American people have a right to know and data have a need to know that their president is acting on their behalf not for some pecuniary or other reason that pertains to any credible allegations of leverage by the Russians or the Saudis or anyone else. And wolf this. This investigation also going to encompass several committees, including not just the house intelligence committee, but they're looking at bringing other house panels as well to look into this the financial issue going forward. Republicans tried to push Democrats in this closed-door meeting today to look into the Clinton campaign as well as whether or not the Clinton campaign colluded with the Russian, but House Democrats are told rejected that said they didn't want to look into that didn't want to look into whether there was any abuse and the warrantless surveillance process that occurred back in twenty sixteen to monitor actions of certain individuals associated with the Trump campaign, of course, Republicans made that a big focus when they were in power, but Democrats in our first actions here made very clear that they were not going to do with the Republicans did in the last congress. The Democrats won forty house seats. Elections have consequences. The Democrats are clearly in the majority right now mono, I want you to stand by I want to bring in our senior Justice correspondent Evan Perez. Evan this investigation clearly will not go beyond Russia up how problematic potentially is this for the president. But I think programmatic not only for the president. But members of his family wolf, I mean, the Democrats have been asking questions when they were in the minority trying to get information about whether or not Jared Kushner or the children of the president were trying to mix business as the same time when they were trying to lead the transition or trying to stand up the new government of after the president was elected in two thousand sixteen. I think now you can see that now that they have the power to subpoena for these people to get information. I think they're going to tie these people up for the next two years probably the rest of the Trump presidency, or at least the first term of the Trump presidency with exactly trying to figure out the answers to those questions. Yeah. That's an important issue. Right there. Mono the commit? Took its first action today voting to send more than fifty transcripts from its Russia investigation interviews to Robert Mueller special counsel, what transcripts will be turned over. And what is Muller looking for right now? While what Adam Schiff has been saying for several days and weeks heading up to this vote today to send over more than fifty transcripts over to Muller's team that any potential false statements that may have happened. When these witnesses came before this committee as part of the Russia investigation in the last congress, other there have been suggestions that some Trump associates may have been Lebanon, less than truthful with this committee, and that the Muller's team could decide whether or not to prosecute those individuals, of course, back in December the same committee of the house intelligence committee did send to mother Roger stone's transcript of his closed door interview. And of course, he is being accused by the mother team of not telling the truth. To investigators part of the investigation. So we'll see what Muller ultimately decides. And how this impacts is investigation whether it prolongs investigation, or whether it doesn't, but Democrats have said that they've been pushing for this for some time they've found some resistance within Republican ranks in the last congress. But today, it was approved by voice vote on this committee to send these transcripts over to mother. So we'll see what he decides to do in the coming days and weeks, we'll watch it closely oven. Michael Cohen, the president's longtime. Former lawyer fixer he was supposed to testify before the house intelligence committee behind closed doors. This coming Friday that has now been pushed back I've told till the end of the month. So what does that signal? Why did that happen? Well, you know, one of the big questions has been is what can Michael Cohen say. Given the fact that the Muller investigation is still ongoing today. They were not a lot of explanation. So exactly why this happened. But listen to Adam Schiff, the chairman of the intelligence committee explained it he seems to suggest that the money. Muller investigation is the reason why this pushed back. We look forward to his testimony on February twenty eighth and Mr. Cohen has been fully cooperative with us, and we hope and expect that will continue, but we felt it was the investigations interests that we postponed to that date. So I think the suggestion there is perhaps maybe by month's end. The Muller investigation will no longer be an impediment will no longer be an issue for scheduling, Michael Cohen testimony will she'll see whether or not that is the case will. But it is it is an important thing that Michael Cohen, obviously wants to be able to speak freely and wants to be able to address all of the different issues at the Democrats, especially have questions for him on. And if he can't address those because of the ongoing investigation that limits, the ability, you know, what he could say supposed to be Guinness three year prison sentence. I think March six with the beginning of the month, the whole time Evan thanks very much. Thanks to you as well. President Trump is bristling at all of this. And he's lashing. Out publicly our chief White House correspondent, Jim Acosta's. Joining us now with more on the president's reaction. Jim it's a far cry from what we heard last night from the president. It certainly is. Well, those calls for unity that we heard the president's state of the union speech, they appear to be long gone as e bash the democratic chairman of the house intelligence committee earlier today that chairman Adam Schiff as you were just saying announced he'll be launching investigation investigations into the president's ties to Russia and his businesses as he so often does the president stooped to name calling earlier today when shifts name came up president says he doesn't wanna see new investigations. But he's beginning to learn what life is like with Democrats in charge in the house. The president has gone from kun-bae to combat and he lashed out at house intelligence committee chairman Adam Schiff, Schiff brand new probes into Russian election meddling in any possible links to Mr. Trump's global business dealings on what basis would he do that? He has no basis to do that he's just a political hack who's trying to build a name for himself. It's called presidential harassment. And it's unfortunate. And it really does hurt our country. The reason for the president's outbursts shifts investigations will be invasive looking into whether the Russians have any compromising information on the president or his family members that's being used as leverage. We will be conducting our investigation to make sure that the country is protected. The democratic chairman's announcement comes on the heels of the president's plea during a state of the union address, the Democrats now control the house to not open new Russian vestiges if there is going to be peace and legislation there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesn't work that way that was just one of many moments that seem to divide not unite members of congress during a speech that was falsely billed as bipartisan simply put walls work and walls. Save lives. Even with another government shutdown looming over as demand for his wall. The president previewed strategy for the twenty twenty campaign labeling Democrats as socialists tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country. But the president is facing an Alto. Climate news CNN poll finds more than half of voters are not likely to support. Mr. Trump's bid for reelection driving much of that opposition women voting block, the president tried to woo in his speech to unexpected results. No one has benefited more from a thriving economy than women who have filled. Fifty eight percent of the newly created jobs last year. You

"Tired of spending hundreds of dollars prescription glasses. Xeni offers thousands of affordable eyewear styles starting at just six ninety five visits any today at Zanny dot com slash CNN. Happening now. Breaking news silence. Things stone a federal judge says she may sure gag order against the Trump ally. Roger stone and warns him not to contact witnesses or to treat the build up to his trial like a public relations campaign will the man who can't shut up shut up getting nowhere. President Trump calls congressional talks waste of time and says he's getting nowhere with Democrats. He says there's a good chance left to declare a national emergency to build his wall. Even though he says he's already building packing up as the president suspend the do clear treaty with Russia. Hus- speaker Nancy Pelosi says he's risking a new arms race. So the president of fires right back saying, quote, I know think Nancy has a clue and meeting in Vietnam. The president all the confirms that he will beat again with the North Korean dictator Kim Jong Hoon in Danang, Vietnam can America's former enemies serve as a model for its current folk. I'm wolf Blitzer. You're in the situation room. This is CNN breaking new rakes. He knows a federal judge considers imposing gag order in the case against longtime Trump ally, Roger stone saying this is a criminal proceeding and not a public relations campaign. The judges warning stone not to treat the run-up to a trial like a book tour stone has already been camera shy since his arrest on charges stemming from the Muller investigation, I should say hasn't been camera shy. But tonight there may be some new developments. Also, President Trump says there's a good chance he'll soon declare a national emergency to build a border wall. And drops a big hint about an announcement tied to a state of the union address. I'll speak with Republican congressman Chris Stewart of the intelligence committee and our correspondents and analysts are standing by with full coverage. Let's begin with the breaking news out of today's hearing for longtime Trump associate Roger stone facing multiple charges arising from the Muller investigation. The federal judge overseeing the case. Out of very tough warning for stone. Let's bring in our senior White House correspondent, Pamela Brown, and our senior Justice correspondent Evan Perez. Evan what was the warning to stone from this job? There was a stern warning wolf it. It went something like this. This is a criminal proceeding not a public relations campaign, and that was the warning from Amy Birmingham Berman Jackson. The judge who is going to be overseeing. Roger stone's trial on these seven counseling whose obstruction of Justice and witness tampering as you know, Roger stone has been on something of a publicity tour doing a lot of public interviews and also reaching out to friends and family who are there to support him. We know that more than a dozen of Roger stone's friends have come in for interviews with as part of this investigation with the Robert Muller investigation. And so one of the warnings one of the warnings that that the judge gave to Roger stone today. Wolf was to make sure that he would avoid any contact with people who might be called as witnesses in this case and that includes. No emails. No, text messages, Instagram posts WhatsApp messages, and even using intermediaries to try to contact people who might become witnesses in this trial. So the judge is made sure that she asked Rogers. Tony he understood that. And he says, yes your honor. Now wolf you know, that that this judge has has has a history of being very stern with people in her courtroom. And I think certainly Roger stone's a publicity tour, his his his media interviews and last few days, certainly was something that she was going to was going to take notice of she's very very tough judge. We all know that so Pamela could Rogers don't actually be barred from speaking about the case as he awaits trial. Absolutely. And this is something that Roger stone will likely not like given how much has been out there in the public view talking to the media since the indictment just about a week ago. In fact, the judge in this case and judge Amy Jackson a talked about how he's been out there publicly, and that is public statements could taint a jury pool. And so she said during today's hearing that she is considering a gag order. And she used some very tough language very stern, which she said this during the here each warned him not to argue his case on quote, the talk show circuit or treat this case like a book tour, also she said, this is a criminal proceeding and not a public relations campaign. Now, we know from the Paul Manafort case, she was a same judge, and she ordered a gag order in that case, it will not be surprised at all if she decides to do the same with Roger stone clearly concerned about witness tampering as well. That's my she is saying you can't speak to any other potential witnesses in this case, right? Exactly as Evan. Just right. And I think one of the things that happens in these cases is that the prosecutors view any public statements you make as not only usable for for them to try to use against you in court. But also as an attempt perhaps to get other witnesses to line up their stories with yours. So that is something that prosecutors would be. Very concerned about it. Certainly this judge was calling attention to that. I was gonna say she made very clear that any inconsistencies with what he has said, right? Buckley would be entered in as evidence wrote exactly very serious situation. The president President Trump. He's denying that. He's the one Roger stone. That Muller was talking about in the Roger stone indictment. The president is speaking out about all of this. That's right. He told the the New York Times something that we've heard before which is that a he has never spoken to Roger stone about WikiLeaks that it was not him that was being referred to in the indictment. If you remember there was a mentioned that there was a senior. There was somebody from the campaign senior person in the campaign who had been directed to reach out to Roger stone about the trove of emails that that WikiLeaks was in possession of Donald Trump, the president last night telling the New York Times that it is not him adamantly saying that it is definitely not him. We don't know who it is. We still have not been able to identify that person. It's not the president. Then who is it? The president those saying he's a good guy kept saying. About roger. Hi. And he's a good guy. I've known them for a long time. Evan Pamela have a long history. Thank you very much. We're following more news right now, including the president tonight heading to his Florida resort for the weekend. After giving every indication that he plans to go ahead with the border wall. By declaring a national emergency calling congressional negotiations of waste of time. Let's go to our White House. Correspondent abbie. Philip Abby update our viewers on the very latest. Well, we'll President Trump did leave the White House. Just a few minutes ago after days of undermining bipartisan negotiators who've been working to avert yet another government shutdown, but increasingly the president seems to be acknowledging that he is not going to get his border wall. At least not from congress going to strengthen a Burr tonight, President Trump venting, his frustrations as Democrats stonewall his border wall. Trump once again, dangling the prospect that he'll go around congress and build it. Anyway, even if a bipartisan group of lawmakers don't fund it. We will be looking at a national emergency. Because I don't think anything's going to happen. I think the Democrats don't want border security and teasing potential announcement during the state of the union address next week. To declare. I don't want to say, but he'll hear the state of the union. And then you'll see what happens right after the state of the union. That's democratic candidates jump into the twenty twenty presidential race to defeat him. Trump is accusing the party of playing politics are only doing for one verse full reason, it's one simple reason couldn't be separate because they think it's good politics at twenty twenty because they say, maybe we could beat Trump because this is a big issue. Trump. Also, slamming house speaker Nancy Pelosi's criticism of the administration's decision to suspend an arms control deal. They claim Russia has been violating for years. Honestly, I don't think she has a clue I really don't. I don't think Dante has a new secretary of state Mike Pompeo announcing the suspension today. Russia has jeopardized the United States security interest, and we can no longer be restricted by the treaty while Russia shamelessly, violates it, though, Trump keeping the door open for Nagoya. Sheesh on a new pact with Putin by hope that we're able to get everybody in a very big beautiful room, and you a new treaty that would be much better. But because certainly I would like to see that all this after the president sat down with the New York Times for a wide ranging interview where he downplayed any potential risk in special counsel, Robert Muller's probe claiming he got private assurances from deputy attorney general rod Rosenstein aide told the attorneys that I'm not a subject, I'm not a target of. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
