"The chew the table again I'm like okay but I feel like Franken owns and screaming eagles I fifteen plays from scrimmage come back frank place he leaves two thousand eighteen the Eagles ranked thirtieth and EPA and can't score in the this is kind of covered a extensively this past week but it's the scripting that sticks out to me and concepts are GONNA fit best against that build in the necessary checks find the tells on the defense give you can do that no matter how late you stay in the building how earlier back in the building I within context Peterson can flip about the three of them together had a system where they trusted braintrust they lost clearly whatever you know it was in without sitting there watching implant what they're gonNa do in specific situations they've lost it and you know even at grows best malls Russia I second the coaching staff by that's that's a fact what we're doing today is the exact opposite holes defense and Buddy let me tell you I don't know if mark got a pretty high me more give me the give me the trubisky yeah that sounds about right that sounds that sounds like the bottom collecting about how inept the bills offense was this bears offense to say their quarterback play is somehow much worse on the bears I one hundred percent is not good that's bad here's the thing here's here's my main thing about trubisky having not listen it's clear Panic embodied he says he has no like like damage control he's just panicking isn't always check downs as he just a complete the headline for the article for the Cuban go show that I just wanted to bill g may he forever reign Roy's something abuse quarterback but like whatever you know what I mean like you can't even find the spot you've seen a Brian Baldinger you've seen say's Roosevelt's and Qb it's hard to not know when not in the meeting room to struggle to watch sage rosenfels replies ceiling with blind skirmish of Crap Cup lots for tat like Papa Bear Halas was watching I know the house only it's like the goal line the bears were empty with three tight ends dishes stupid you know like I most basic that you can get because there is zero trust in the quarterback right yeah in two thousand eighteen into the twenty nineteen playoffs there was a nice it's like you'll you'll see people don't really watch affleck and I'm like why aren't you doing that reply because it doesn't you to me clearly emphatically ought to be very passionate about this not the bears meet has lauded him and that's fine nothing nagging the media could say out loud that there's no choice yeah right and the thing is like there's they trubisky does not the field you watch third-down play actually we're trying to get across and we're trying to get a hitch route exactly so so you have I'm definitely blowing the audience I'm sorry about that but you have jin double tap to back sets what can I throw at this defense that they haven't gyms Watson I don't put nine guys in the box screwed for one nagy has fallen out of moderation and he is fully trubisky's the issue is limited and now he's trying to work with with an incomplete sets that's you even if they were running the exact same place which I would argue and you saw us with chase one more more west coast concentrate even like the running game maybe he's not doing anything that five Dallas Pollen is this is this is what we're doing it's that high school it's not to say that all the scheme is got to be able to call both ways you don't get the cake and eat it too it's drives me nuts right where you into higher an offense coordinator does the guy who's been successful but that's all the jets ended up with Adam Gates we're like I'm not I'm going to try to do this and do that I'm dominic spot I'm GonNa give you snag I'm GonNa Ashikaga before Nagy whatever that's one but then to and this is I league good athletes in space with blockers and with numbers advantages that is offense keeping from him because he's playing with a deck that's missing all the clubs and easy was a short set here cast and what their quarterback can do save a personnel disparity in terms of the good throws but I don't think he's in the way he's being generally you know like what happened in this offense don't tackle and that's that's something that's been a problem for me and don't get me wrong to re Cohen Cornell talking about like at or around the line of scrimmage those guys I fear in those situations especially break for the defense to create a game changing turnover and put average per next gen stats from Mitchell trubisky got to be one of the worst in the League yeah it is yeah I like eight completions all year over twenty yards on twenty three attempts and he misses them bad I mean I've put together to full reels a minute of like really quick clips of just bad throws from two different games it was so knowing that Nagy doesn't trust them and just the fact that he takes the ball out of his hands in very obvious timeouts was one second raft I will say right and I will all the time from an eagles defence perspective US mason offense struggles in the red zone why Zulu tells of receivers right these bigger bodies Allen Robinson I think the saints right you know you you add congested from six to four yard down the field range unbelievable and he certainly and I brought up the in shotgun it they want to go one step read leverage pre very limited. Who are you out who you out scheming with your passing right and this is why I talk about Anthony Miller Taylor gable ace into space potentially being an angle but if you're getting what the bears typically do Evan funchess type besides guys I wish they would use Cordero Patterson morning situations Patterson's a big bite under guy and narrative gives trubisky a better ability to read leverage make throws against it with that means you have a ton of Split back walks oh and this is a big deal through the it'd been relatively even splits other men a couple and then twenty one percent respectively they also incorporated Mike Davis a lot more than they have in previous weeks in this way to guys moving that way we got a mesh we gotta read there's so many things that you have to be backfield dressing right and so the big concern for Philadelphia can't a you know a five step drop off under center play action through the deep post they can't do it there ran against Philadelphia this opening script from Anna was so much fun not really that's off the off coverage they were getting the Chicago will do that as well but there was the pop camera throat right behind him that's the big fear for Philadelphia in this game you're GonNa get split back he situations right now really be looking to attack those linebackers Philadelphia's response is going to have to try to do it is is run man covering guys follow them and then be able to run with your front guys a to actual starters opposite him and not just Fletcher Cox Pluses Buddy right so I don't know why anybody would say that they don't you're going to struggle against that if you have to put your guys.

"And he is near the top of my list because of the New Orleans matchup the need to throw the ball consistently. Whether or not Cam Newton can do that. Well, you know, he hasn't been doing well lately. Yeah. I mean Curtis Samuel started the year with the, you know, the deep stuff as Cam Newton shoulder has been injured. Cam Newton is ironically throwing it his highest pass completion percentage ever. But that's because the shoulder is. Causing more short stuff the scheme, you know, dump off to Christian McCaffrey stuff like that. I liked the match up with Curtis Samuel the fifty eight to thirty two targets or snap count against Evan. Funchess is I worry can be misleading because last week if you remember going into that game, they said funchess will be limited. So he that was his he's getting back from injury. Who's going to be more limited? They use them when they got in the red zone. He caught a touchdown. So is does this week. Does he push one of these guys out and Torrey Smith is he is he back. So yeah. I mean, here's the thing. We're bringing up courtesy funches did not catch touchdown. He completely ghost on Sunday. Was that the week before that he cut she has won for seventeen and a one for ten and a touchdown. So in the last three weeks he's been he's at one catch. So yeah, I'm not. I'm certainly not. I'm not saying funches it anything. Good. I just worry about. Yeah. No, no. That makes aging. The matchup says good the reason we're talking about Curtis Samuel is. Because I think he is among the. Best pickups this week it. Yeah. But like, Jerry Reynolds, right? Josh Reynolds, three thirty six a high powered offense when they're not at twenty degree weather on the road against a great defense. Philadelphia's secondary. That's who they're going to be playing. And they're at home is banged up. Riddles could have a great game. Do you over Larry FitzGerald against Atlanta in Atlanta? I would I play Reynolds over FitzGerald. Yeah. It would as well. Over any of the Tampa offensive options outside of Mike Evans against Baltimore. Yeah. I think I would you know, you had Chris God when disappoint and a great matchup, and it's really really tough to trust. Jameis Winston against an elite defense like Baltimore. I'm gonna throw some names out guys that did put up big numbers or nice numbers. This last week. You tell me how interested you are in them. Kenny stills had an eight for one thirty five in one day. And like you said Miami's fighting to make the playoffs. I love Kenny stills the player so much but the match up on the road in Minnesota is not good. I mean, Russell Wilson just. Through for seventy something yards. What's Ryan tannehill? Going to do is a top five guy this past week Jason. Yeah. But that was at home against the patriots. Yeah. Josh dachshund was pretty good for for eighty four. Jamison crowder. It was two for eighty seven the huge touchdown, but they have Jacksonville. And no quarterback. I mean notice respect to Josh Jackson who hadn't thrown a pass since twenty eleven but you're not a quarterback. No, no, no. He's a quarterback. Okay. Okay. But that's what I not one. I have faith or trust in. Sure. And I think is going to be tough sledding Randall Cobb, right? He's back. He kicked catches a touchdown. He's got Aaron Rodgers even there is no you're on the road against Chicago. That's where did of the week. It's not where you want to be Anthony Miller got goose last week. He's thirty three percent own Taylor. Gabriel and Anthony Miller they play Green Bay there at home. One of them's going to have a good game. I would probably lean the Taylor Gabriel direction based on the targets. Yeah..

"For my good friend, Daniel dot because I love him dearly, and he has birthday over the weekend is part of the, you know, the real heart and soul of this show. Oh and his team won on sent on Sunday -gratulations. Pretty she ate it yet. Nice birthday. Good on you, my friend when you say his team won. You mean is fantasy team because that's incorrect team to not win. Now, you not know how his fantasy did. But I'm lost. I'm lost with Andrew lock one. I'm ignoring you because Daniels team won twenty two nineteen. I will say Carolina Panthers. It was a really great for Matt Patricia to be able to pull out a victory for me. Still waiting for the second half of the birthday wish where he sends you. They send me a signed game news helmet. Plus in a rousing speech at the end where they dedicate the victory to me into that. I was the reason behind why they're gonna win. Daniel don't don't ever count anything. Yeah. But the lions win twenty two nineteen over the Panthers. The story yesterday for the Panthers though was like do a changing of the guard at wide receiver. I think that's going to be the question. You Jay more seven for one fifty seven and one touchdown on eight targets Devon punches just two for thirty nine yesterday. But he got the targets. I don't think we're there yet. But. Can I guess maybe the question would be this can you even trust? Evan funchess in your lineup anymore. It's tough. I mean, some of this was of course, Darius slay covered. Some of it frankly, like God just made some bad drops huge drops. Brutal. Brutal. Had a touchdown should've caught early. Yeah. I mean, just he was brutal. And so camp suddenly said, you know, who can catch DJ more right EJ more can catch. Let me throw it to.

"The official ticketing partner of the Detroit Lions and once again late in John and a lot of bang for the buck right now. This post game player interview is brought to you by McLaren healthcare. Everybody wants to talk to Lomas Brown after a nice lions victory down there in Miami right now, low standing by with tight end Michael Roberts. Thanks, steve. I'm here with Michael Robertson. Michael man, say that was a great performance today. You've been out all this time. How did you keep yourself mentally focused and ready to go through my injury? I went to every meeting I took notes like is preparing even if I wasn't in that play or in that position set still made sure I knew the new the place. So, you know, just just try to stay mentally locked in. And then I took this week. To, you know, sharpen my mind and be able to think as fast as I was a month ago. So I mean in this such a big difference. When Matthew have tight ends like you and Luke in the game the throw the ball to and you you were getting open a lot today was a sum that you guys seen in film study this week. They let you know, you could get open like that. Yeah. Well, without my first touchdown that that's probably one of the worst roster they guard especially with the play action. So we've seen it on multiple towns, and we just exploited with everyone knows that. And then the wrong game too. I know you do the running and again, man, I'm a form all fence and just to have the time and with the wrong game after being off all those weeks. Like, I say, I'm really impressed, by the way, you play and stuff and just keeping yourself ready to go. Is that something that you've always been that way? I'll take it. Yeah. Well, I mean, the the part that no one sees is my first day back in practice. It wasn't the cleanest practice trouble thinking as fast, as you know, it was a month ago and. I went through that day may came back. The next day they make the same mistakes. You know, kinda just picked up where I left off. So again, I know with Matthew having success with the tight ends. I'm hoping that we use you guys more where we will use you guys more coming up and stuff. So physically the off. We did they give you a chance to catch up with a lot of things and get prepared to while. I was injured. So I mean, I've been off. Great great. Boy, it did it helped our team a lot the morale of our team. No, it's important that we see our families, you know, give free time, and you kind of mentally reset. So when you come back, you know, it's like I do all day you go see a family. It's like, you know, I'm ready to come back to work now. So it was nice. It came at a good time for this team at a time where we were kinda lost. We're just trying to establish ourself in identity. So, you know, hopefully, we keep building that identity and keep establishing to keep building. A string of these wins together. -solutely? Did you hear the crowd today? Man. We don't retry trial. I'll tell you this is louder than Miami tonight. Miami tonight at one point he's at home. So, you know, it's a credit to Detroit, man. And even even when people in the street MandA passionate, there know, the winner hasn't been there. You know, they let you know that too. But one thing they can do they support you. That's right. A Michael good. Look great game day, sir. Thank you. Go lines. Back to UC. Alright low appreciate that. Thank you very much and Michael Roberts as well. And mister Roberts. In his neighborhood. If you will. Said something very interesting. There is a lot of momentum going on with his lions team. And you get the sense there. Sean that moving forward. Listen, nobody's putting carp before the horse or whatever lions are three and three and and whatnot coming off again and Owen to start. But there does seem to be a little bit of closeness with his group. No doubt. Stephen. I'm not gonna poo poo away the three and three thing because you know, you're three and three right now, but you're certainly trending upwards. You took care of business against Green Bay. This was a convincing win today. I don't hesitate to say that this was a convincing win today. So yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with being excited you keep it in perspective. You don't run out and prince and playoff tickets. But hey, you take a game. Like this over the alternative all day. All right lions when it thirty to twenty one down there in Miami more coming up for you, you better believe it. This is lions radio. Stafford in Mitch Albom talk about today's game tomorrow afternoon at five thirty six on seven sixty WJR. Whether you keep it on the spreadsheet a memo on your phone or a sticky note on your desk, you've probably got a lot on your to do list. That's why Blue Cross Blue shield of Michigan. Away last week in Washington but bounce right back against the defending Super Bowl champs for three quarters. This offense was not existent. But then came back with twenty one points in the fourth quarter and defeated the eagles today by a score of twenty one to seventeen and those touchdowns coming all in the final. Brought them back in about three and a half minutes apart of Devin funchess eighteen yard pass from Cam Newton. And then Cam Newton connecting with Greg Olsen. Get back to Cam Newton in just a second. Biggest we have called Nassib on the phone from Tampa Bay today. Call rich Ackerman. How are you? Can you hear me one more time? Hey, rich. How are you doing just straight? Okay. A wild wild game today. And it comes at the expense of your former team is now you're on the other side of that one. It's kind of a double pleasure for you. How does it feel to get this one? To win. I'm really proud of my team. All three phases, we stopped. I will step up. And of course, it comes also after chain defensive coordinator is marked after takes over for Mike Smith, you know, what did you do today differently that enabled you to win? Everybody cupid not every single player. But we try as much as we can. And we did a great job today fighting our ass off. And I'm really proud of my defense and my team. And of course, Baker Mayfield made a close. And of course, Chandler cannons. Jarrell how did the opportunity at the end of regulation, but came up short on the forty yard and then a fifty nine yard or you know, what was the mood after what as he came on? You have to feel good for a guy gets a shot at redemption. And makes it pay off. Yeah. Family did a great job. He stepped up when we needed a most be prouder of. I'm sorry. One more time. I didn't hear you. Oh, sorry. I said Chandler stepped up when we needed it most. I couldn't be prouder of. And I think you gotta be breathing a sigh of relief right now any time. You get a win to snap a skid. It's gotta make everybody feel good. Absolutely. Feels great Carl. Thanks so much for a couple of minutes, greatly appreciated the problem, rich. All right and buccaneers win twenty six twenty three over the Browns. We're to MetLife stadium. Jalil johnson. Standing by after the Vikings win over the jets today by twenty Jalil rich Ackerman. How are you? Are you doing? All right. A big second half both ways for this team. Not only offensively. But defensively what was the key here? What what kind of adjustments? Did you guys make at halftime that turn this thing around? So well, well, you know, from the very first play our goal was, you know, physical. No, I'll just see Moni. No, please. Just call both sides of the ball. And you know, for the most part, we definitely did that, you know, as far as, you know, some adjustments. You know, they weren't really things to adjust all we gotta do. But, you know, just keep playing smart point Harding being disciplined, speaking of playing physical. That's what this defense has been after that little stretch against the bills. And then you went out west to L A, and it was a tough turnaround. But since then this team has really got back to that core of being physical. Was there any type of did anybody ever need to step up and say something that's what we need to do. Or is. It was everybody took it upon themselves to feel that way, you know, everyone took it upon them. So you know, that's what we pride ourselves on being. Being disciplined, and you know, after you know, our to gain buffalo LA, you know, as a defense, we all came together, and we just put our foot down, and we're just like moving forward you need to get back to how we were. You know, no last year. They'll just being a hard nosed football team. That's what we get to that. It was a windy day. When you see things like that. Whether it's wind or rain or anything else, you smile and say it's a good day for the defense. Definitely no matter what conditioning knows. But you know, it's going to be a good day. We put our minds to it. Definitely. No. We came out. We played really well against a really good team. So, you know, you know, like, I said, you know, are no defense. We pride ourselves on being disciplined. And then today we're almost midway through the season. Now in a very very tight NFC north this team has turned around. How good you feel? How good are you guys feeling right now? Before pretty good. You know, a good one. And like I said against a good opponent. But you know, like, you said, no we have a lot of games left to play a very long season. Saw you know once you walk through film. And you know, he's got to go forward and keep keep playing hard Jalil. Thank you for a couple of minutes. Congratulations on the way. And I really appreciate the time. And we wish you the best of luck. Thank you. Appreciate it. All right Jalil Johnson of the Vikings after their thirty seven seventeen win over the jets today at MetLife stadium. We'll get Cam. Newton's comments in just a couple of moments after that terrific comeback because would like to hear what he had to say. After leading the Panthers back down by a score of twenty seventeen to nothing late fourth quarter. They get the touchdown pass to start things off the Curtis Samuel early in the fourth quarter. And then two touchdowns in the span of three and a half minutes in the fourth quarter. I Evan funchess with the touchdown reception. And then Greg Olson a one yard reception, and then the defense took care of business. But again since we only heard like the first ten seconds wanna bring you with those thoughts of Cam Newton on. That big second half comeback showing that teams resiliency. You know, just as as some particular times is being in a hurry up. And coach always says it being in a hurry. A doesn't mean panic doesn't mean rush doesn't mean mayhem. It's just control temple that we're control of that. And you know, we got an ad in the second half. You know, things started to change for us in just getting completions. From our part. And getting the ball in the right hand..

"That would be joke, hey, what do you got here? Amy? Oh, my eighty. Five wants to know. I've been seeing the Jags defense consistently going in the seventh and eighth round. Is that a crazy strategy? I have. I have a sense that when the marathon begins tonight at six PM eastern of cord on ESPN, we are all company people here. At some point over the twenty nine hours and this is our poll for the day. The question is a question. Like is it crazy to draft the Jags in the seventh round is at the poll question? Yeah, the the question if you go to at fantasy focus. Yep. Yeah, Kiowa don't you read it? Why don't you get some airtime house asking the jump. We've got our poll question today running through to tomorrow, so we'll be answering it at the live show were on at one o'clock during the marathon. The Jaguars defense is as good as it gets, but what price are you willing to pay on draft day? The options are around six to eight, nine to eleven twelve to fourteen and is this amateur hour? Which currently leads the way. The poll question is live can answer it. We look forward to getting more than two thousand sixty three votes on that question. So I I was gonna say, Zion, -ticipant this being a talking point over the next twenty nine hours for obvious reasons. Mike on paper is this defense better than last year's defense. I think it's very close. They lost a couple of rogue guys, your nickel corner, publicize knee retired. He was to third linebacker, but they add it. You know, they added some pieces in the off season as well. So I don't think it's much different. Probably a little better. I think overall production will be down because a common sense, you know, you can't play that ceiling for a whole season and be they were crazy healthy. One of the healthiest teams in the league last season just like Minnesota on the defensive side of the ball. So if the move the needle down a little bit, but they are still stacked. So I would say my answer to the poll would be twelve fourteen I'm gonna take them before the fifteenth round were the only defense I would do that for. But again, you have to keep expectations in order. It's very, it's very hard to dominate like they'd had like they did last season. Here's the thing you are. Talking about a defense that scored a touchdown last year. Okay. We're also talking about which is very difficult to touch, repeat difficult to do over the course of any season. They've already done it once it's unlikely even with the talent gap, even if they are more talented this year. Second of all, this is about value-based drafting. We don't know, and Kyle has given the stat, many times over where the number one ranked defense has ended up finishing in season-long scoring, but here the names that are also being drafted or that are beyond the Jaguars right now you'd have Robert Woodson your roster. You can have Michael Crabtree. You could have drew Brees have young Louis. You could have Duke Johnson peer Garson, Sammy Watkins, think about the player, think about what those values are. And again, we're talking about a team in the Jaguars that an historically great year last year at given their position. They had eleven points or fewer in seven of the sixteen games. So whatever you're putting a huge premium on a quarterback. Like if this guy did an amazing year had seven games of eleven points or few, like I get talking about Big Ben on the road. That's what you're talking to. And I'm not saying again, they will be my number one ranked defense they are and they will remain that way. If I have the opportunity to draft them late my draft, I will take them there. But I'm allowing somebody else to take them in the seventh round in happily selecting Chris HOGAN, or will our Evan funchess or maybe even later you can get your getting to later getting Kirk cousins. We all nations on quarterbacks, but I'd rather have Kirk cousins at eighty one in the Jaguars at sixty four and Keith. Yeah, we actually got a bunch of questions and if see, north related, okay, we'll start with one. The first one being Minnesota wide receiver digs or Thelander. Man, I've struggled with this and I'll tell you I'll give a shadow two Courtney Cronin..

"And now he goes to Baltimore a worse situation and like Sammy Watkins, we don't really see his eighty p take a hit. I mean, he was eighty. P was in the fourth round last year in this year, Michael Crabtree is going believe what in the six round six point, four, it's insanity. I'm staying away from Michael Crabtree. Baltimore was the fourth worst team in terms of a total passing yards on the year. I don't think anything is going to change this year. They have a plethora of veteran under, you know, barely average wide receivers. So Joe flacco is on a very good quarterback and the nutshell. So. Nothing. Really. Nothing really exciting about Michael Crafter unfortunately if no, he was our guy for the last couple of years, but you gotta know one and jump off ship and we're jumping off. Yeah, he's coming off a terrible year and he's going to one of the worst situations he could go to. So he's not a player that I wouldn't. He's a player that ideally, honestly, I look at as he would been our Ben strategy. He is a solid. Hi, four guy because he's he's gonna catch Pasha passage. Probably gonna catch around sixty five. Maybe seventy passes if he's lucky, which is great for your bench, but he's going into six around that is not a place where you're normally are thinking bench player in Baltimore also had the eleventh most pass attempts lash air because there behind the lot. And they still managed to be fourth worse in terms of passing yards. Yep. And stay in line with that. You know, in one of the previous episodes we talked about, you know, I think it was a draft strategy. We talked about the six round for receivers, six, seven, eight round for receivers, really being a spa. You don't wanna be in. Let's stick with another receiver that's going in that range. Devin. Funchess. Eight point. Oh, a. The drafted DJ more Christian McCaffrey is expected to to really, I think, take on more of the load in the in the passing game. Greg Olsen is back on the field. He's healthy. We saw last year Devin. Funchess they traded Calvin, Benjamin, Greg Olsen went down with injury. Christian McCaffrey was still a rookie like a lot of things broke his way, and he still had just an okay season. A point. Eight is too early for me to draft Evan funchess, not a big fan of Devin. Funchess the talent, and I certainly don't like his standing offense with everything else around him and the other options that Cam Newton disposal. I think if you draft kick them in the eighth round, you're gonna be sorry. Yeah, Kelvin. Benjamin only played eight games last year for Carolina that really didn't have anything else. Greg Olsen also went down. This reminds me a little bit about when I was talking about Evan Ingram in terms of everyone dying around him or Kenyan Drake, you know, I think his numbers were grossly inflated because of that. They didn't really have much else that throw to. And there were artificially high last year prime candidate for regression at one hundred and eleven targets last year. There's no way you can expect that again from a team that is one of the highest percentage in terms of balance in terms of stick into the run. Yep. So I'm staying away and I think it's only fitting for us to wrap up this episode of players to avoid with Isaiah Crowell the the player that I remember last year kind of he kind of a pit him is, is everything that goes into players to avoid. He's going in the seventh round and give me a break with with is AM Crowell. I'm just I'm staying completely away. Below Powell is still hanging around there. Thomas Rawles is there on the depth chart. They wanna. They wanna use that lies McGuire. They wanna work him into. It's going to be a running back by committee is air coils, not gonna catch passes and if it's possible to go from a bad offense to an even worse offense, I think he just did that going from the Browns offense to the jets. It didn't exactly pick a good time to leave the Browns. That's for sure. So I think you're right there. I don't know how many times we need to get. People need to get fooled with as aircrew well, but they have a few running backs there and they kind of all have a little bit of a different purpose..
