Oilers beat Knights to square series

"Vegas and Edmonton are tied at two games a piece after the oilers put together a three goal first period in a four one victory over the golden knights. Stuart skinner handled 25 shots and blank the knights until Nicholas wa beat him 5 58 into the third. Just a huge win by the group. So that's the most important thing. So just the way the guys battled tonight was impressive. Nick bugs dad and Evan Bouchard scored 52 seconds apart before Matthias ekholm made it three zero with 6 and a half minutes left in the first. Ryan nugent Hopkins gave the oilers a four gold cushion late in the second, Aiden hill made 29 saves for Vegas. We chose game 5 on Friday. I'm Dave ferry.

Edmonton ties series with Knights after 5-1 victory in Vegas

"Leon draisaitl and Connor McDavid each scored twice and the Edmonton Oilers tied their Western Conference semifinal series at one game a piece with a 5 one win over the Vegas golden knights. Dry Seidel, who scored four goals in the first game, has now tallied at least one point in the first 8 games of the postseason, McDavid, meanwhile, is on a 7 game point streak with 5 goals and 11 assists. We're here for a lot more than just scoring goals and putting up points. That's not what it's about at all, it's not what we're doing here. Evan Bouchard also scored for the oilers while rookie goaltender Stuart skinner stopped 30 shots. I'm get cool ball.

"And you could see the coaches standing up at the windows, you know? On the top little ledge that you know how they have the little balconies out there up on the balconies. See who collapses. See who doesn't finish? See who can't make it. See who is gives up. You're finding something out about your guys. How are you going to compete? Because if you can't compete in the weight room, or you can't compete in the run, I might have trust you compete in the fourth quarter. How many trust you to compete against Kansas City? How am I going to trust you to compete? Or if you're cutting corners or you're cheating reps or you're doing whatever I trust you to prepare to study, to be ready to go to not make mistakes. Like all that stuff, all that stuff is it's stupid, but it isn't stupid. It's real. I get started today up next in the morning brew, the rockies, second highest paid player, came through. Last night, that's next. Good hockey game last night between the avalanche and oilers if this was, let's say, a Western Conference Finals preview again, a rematch. Sign us up. Two teams went at it hard. In the end, crude gets the win. Top three players in the league in power play points are on the ice and it's for sure to scores. Evan Bouchard gives Edmonds and a win in overtime a power play goal. And the oilers win two to one. What a bullet. ESPN there with the call. So watching that game last night, is that a vastly different and improved Edmonton team from the one that the abs boomed swept out of the playoffs? A year ago? Yes, yeah, yeah, very. They've always been able to skate. They added some size that the blue line that bigger that echo pick was a big one. One of the best so Trey deadline moves. They are, they're a bigger, stronger hockey club than they were, but they can still skate. Great. Just great action. The great game. They had, they have had a power play where they just peppered the goaltender about four minutes left in the game. Where I thought for sure they were getting up. I thought for sure they're going to get a goal in that power play. You want to talk about puck control down in the, you know, in the scoring end and they did a great job they got through four different looks. That rookie goaltender is that dude. He's got the chance to be pretty special. So avalanche news with the point they've now clinched home ice in the way. First round of the playoffs. I was thinking about you in that point. And all of a sudden, as much as I hate the whole overtime, we get a point and everybody celebrates. Woohoo. It was kinda actually after a really good hockey game. It was like, I'm glad we at least got the point. See? Yeah, yeah. It's not that I'm coming around. It's that I like it when it benefits us. Yeah, you hate to come away, empty handed there. So with the win, the abs, clinch, home ice in the first round. So even if they were to be surpassed by Dallas in the central division, they would still have home ice against Minnesota in the first round. I changed my way of thinking on that. Here's how I think about it now. Okay, this happened to me. This was last night late night, epiphany, tired, late night epiphany, yeah. Always the best. And I realized both teams get one point for the tie. The end of regulation, we're just giving out one point of peace. Then in overtime, you get an extra point if you score the overtime winner. Right? So the game ends in a tie, everybody gets a point. Stack. That's correct. Right. And then you get an extra point when you actually win it. Correct. Instead of see, I always thought of it as we just awarded a loser one point, right? So I changed my way of thinking. So the tie gets you the point. Yes. Yeah. Instead of being win or lost, it's, hey, ty, everybody gets a point. Now let's play a little 5 minute four on four hockey, and let's see what happens. In my brain, in my brain, all of a sudden, I was like, if I think about it that way, it

A stinking might take a look at the four biggest stories in Denver sports. Here's Lara then Evans kicking it off with first down. High level hockey last night at the sack. But they have to settle for just a point. Top three players in the league and power play points are on the ice and it's for shark who scores. Evan Bouchard gives Edmonton a win and overtime a power play goal. And the oilers win two to one. What a bullet. Here's where I know ESP right there with the call. Here's where I know where I'm in a really good place right now when it comes to the abs and how good I feel about them for the class is that I was able to just watch last night's game. Almost just as a hockey fan. Now as an as fan. I could just sit back and enjoy and admire the amount of star power on the edge. You brought up a great stat. Yeah, that you got from game yesterday. Yeah, it was the first time since 1986. That 5 players took the ice that all had 100 plus points. So three for Edmonton and two for the avalanche. Oh yeah. Obviously, what's his head? All right, let's go. Do the abs. Okay, we'll start with the McKinnon. Yeah. Brandon. Ronson and then you've got McDavid. I always want to call him David McCormick. I don't know why. Connor McDavid. You got dry side, dry soap. And then you got to do with three initials. Come on. Who is it? Newman Newman. New Jin Hopkins. First name? Yes, he does have a friend. Ryan Newton. Brian Ryan. Yeah, R and H. Yeah, no, good hockey game. With the win, the abs, get the point, and now they are guaranteed of playing home ice in the first round, can still win the division, in which they play in which case they would play the kraken, or if for some reason Dallas overtakes them, they would play Minnesota in the first round and would have home ice in that one. Also good news before the game Jared bednar revealing that both kale mccart, Josh Manson figured to be back by the start of the playoffs, if not a game before, the playoffs start. And also Arturo election, coming back from a busted finger. He's ready to return, no timetable on Gabe Landis gog. Looking more and more likely that do not count on him for at least the first round. Second down. The Iraqis were in great shape, gain another good start from Kyle Freeland. They were leading, but then it was marques and Kyle then turned the dial. Bullpen came in, poured gasoline all over it, lit a match, and it was the rockies losing with their nemesis coming through for the cards. To score. Here comes goalie. They're gonna wave him. Here comes tough fast throw. Three. The cardinals need that. Cardinals TV. Rockies are up 6 two, but this was what we talked about during the preseason was if there is a glaring, glaring hole on this baseball team, lack of depth in the starting rotation, lack of depth in the bullpen. Boy, that come home to roost as a cardinal scored four in the 7th and three in the 9th to win 9 6. A great depth though on the Cardinals bench. I actually garden starting rotation with Nolan. The rockies have great depth over there. The other side is what I'm saying 'cause they're painting. There you go. There was pit. It wasn't just falling here, Lee. You're the leader of this. Third down. This is a debacle. NBA playing games yesterday in the east, Atlanta upset Miami. So Atlanta goes in as the 7 seed, meanwhile, the Lakers outscored Minnesota 20 to 7 down the stretch in the fourth quarter and overtime and they beat the T wolves and they're going to the playoffs of the 7 sea. They'll play Memphis. So the nuggets now will play, they await to see what happens tonight. You get New Orleans playing Oklahoma City, winner of that game will play Minnesota for the HCG. Do you like this whole play in tournament? You know what? I was watching last night. I was paying attention. Is it gimmicky? Yeah, but you know what? There have been plenty of things that have come along down through the years last few years in sports, adding to the NFL playoffs, all the changes that we've seen in baseball, hockey, shootouts, things like that. A lot of gimmicks have come into play. And you know what they've worked. So I'm warming to this. Yeah, I don't like how it again devalues the regular season, but it is kind of a, you know, it's a mini it's not mini. It's a little playoff series before the playoffs begin. So there is some intrigue 66% of that. I don't like 66% of the teams making the class, but let's face it, an extra wild card in the NFL. That's been kind of good. Baseball? Gives you one more team to fight it out. Even though it's so transparent, right, what they're doing. They're trying to do is just get you, sucker you in the fan. To just feel like your team still has a chance. And that, you know, if we just get lucky or can get in, but it makes you as a fan still hold out hope. Deep into the season, so the idea is you'll continue to support the team, you'll continue to spend money, you'll continue to go to games, all that stuff, and does a water down the regular season. Yeah, it does. In all the sports. But it seems to be working. Yeah, I've been anti telling me there's a chance. Expand, playoffs, every time they do it, and you know what? Ultimately, it's probably why I'm not running things because it has worked out for them. One, two, three, four down. Broncos begin their off season program today. Guys are checking in yesterday. Russell Wilson apparently beat the sunrise in. Oh, sure. Of course he did. Oh now now, let's not be snarky, not. I mean, that's what he does. He gets, he's up early. He's an early riser. He doesn't sleep. He'll tell you about it. Vampire blood. Is that what he said again? No. Kind of blood did you say Ed? Yeah, then probably. No, you're not gonna get

"Three. Colton Susan's number four. Cole Smith number 5 Tommy Novak 6 Luke evangelista 7 John Leonard 8 kief for sure with 9. Certainly a who's who of who? Now forsberg forsberg's return is imminent. And so he's going to be back up top that list, but yeah, it's very interesting. Whoever does get to play with forsberg and Duchenne potentially that's going to be a great spot, right? So certainly some of the monitor. You know, you mentioned Barry there. Let's include Evan Bouchard, who's probably owned a lot of leagues, right? Because even before he was still playing, but I did want to note that in the four games since the Barry trade, he's got three assists, 21 shot attempts, which are behind just Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman on the team. And he's playing 21 minutes per game in that time, but here's the stat for you. In on their power play opportunities, he has been on the ice with Connor McDavid for all but 11 seconds of Connor McDavid's power play usage. So he's just stepped fully into that role. They are just leaning on that top RA unit as heavily as possible. And it's a great spot to be. I know, I think he had all three of those assists in one of those four games and he hasn't had anything in the rest of them, but you're telling me you're going to be out for like a 100% of the time on a historically great top power play unit. You are going to sleep walk your way to significant point totals. And so and that's not to diminish Bouchard himself because I think he's a fantastic player and he's a great fit for that. And he'll be able to optimize that as well and maximize his opportunity, but yeah, it just in terms of usage if anyone's like, oh, I'm kind of a bit underwhelmed so far because three out of those four games he didn't give me anything. I'm all about it because he's clearly going to just load up on points the rest of the way. Man, such a good call on a kind of slip by rare and I'm glad that you brought him up because this was a pleasure that I actually took a lot of flack for in my rank, things at the start of the season. Started on nurses going ahead of him and I thought, no, this is Bouchard. Bouchard's for the guy that you want, save, and save that pick, grab somebody else and get Bouchard a little bit later on. But unfortunately, you know, he just hasn't really had a good season, but last year I thought he was terrific, especially in the playoffs. I thought he was a real driver offensively and I thought he was really good on the power play, but of course Tyson beer getting that power play time and Darnell nurse from here and there. So yeah, I have three assists the other night two of them were on the power play.
