"That nick narrow down to one that he trusts? No I think it's good to be on multiple. Okay. Yeah. Because you are in multiple communities with different cultures and contexts, and so you got to get a fearful what you a good fit for you. Right. So many the rising with so many different five. It really is like a different bar. So which boss you, which you know club really feels like home where you meet people who are. Giving you the kind of communication patent. You're happy with in general, but the end of the day every community is a different vibe I think two or three if you don't like five or six or ten and becomes unmanageable. Yeah. Sure to turn the notifications off Oh oh I do ya good that`ll Put you in a good place. I think it's important to come at Internet dating with attention for Internet, dating when you come at it doing something else and you have to jump in because somebody's message. Hey, the hot you liked to look at them, you WanNa make sure you get the message is but It's a bad time and you say the wrong thing that's where they can bring out the worst and you because you're busy. So I think it's good to kind of have that time and it can be every couple of hours as a big thing when we moved to mobile usage patents change completely people addicted right and we drive addiction. That's in some ways we won't. We won't people in the APP paying for memberships and staying with us a long time. So we'll send you a lot of choice make it difficult to choose but at some stage yeah, you need to choose the APP. The APPS and not to. Is a nice number. I know one guy who's got over one hundred days ing APPs on his phone. He's on my consulting team because he's just so into every single dating saline, he knows the full realm everything under the sun he's got every night. Well. Basically He's very charismatic and knows how to work it and it's super nice and he knows is a dating like nobody else? No, and he's in a wonderful relationship isn't he? He's several wonderful relationships. Yes Nick would you do video dating? WOULD YOU BE? Interested in potentially spending like. A half an hour with some of these people that intrigue you. Yeah. I have a couple of days. One we're supposed to meet for coffee. You know socially distance of course but I think. I. Just got. Confused and burn out from having to similar experience. Each time was a similar experience. How does the communication go I think recently I've noticed that like I'll have mutual interest in a guy. And he'll have it in me, and then we talked for like five days and then we send pictures and I'm not talking about sexy but it's just like pictures of like me and you know talking about where I'm from and what I do and hearing from him as well, and then the interactions and maybe he feels the same way but I'm doing this so many times that it doesn't feel like dating anymore feels like interviewing for a job. Yeah. That's a great way to put it. Nick you start to think okay in doing something wrong or my actually interested if I act like I'm on a conveyor belt it's not fun anymore more. Well and there is like that mutual salesmanship I would imagine that it's hard to be real. Yeah. Exactly. Job Interview like you're so concerned with what you're saying. In presenting yourself that it's hard to even absorb who the other person is. Potentially I mean I think it does help to kind of slow it down and take a deep breath and take it at a slower pace to take it more seriously because after a while you get desensitized I remember when I first downloaded the APP couple of years ago. Before I was in a relationship, it was so exciting and new and interesting, and the APPs made you feel special years ago and I bet you a lot of people would say that now it just feels like homework at the end of the day what I think is happening. Is your not finding joy in TAPPA TAP, right? Yeah. You're doing instant messaging and that's because tap tap is inhuman. That's a relatively recent thing. I mean he used to be on proper keyboard least now were punching away on the little mobile phone keyboard and trying to keep up with messages but that whole way of communicating is inhuman human. we are humans. and. So my isis to get onto a video date earlier and make them shorter. You know the etiquette is not necessarily half an hour. There's actually a sunk cost fallacy right? You put a lot of time into somebody's messaging if you not attracted to them when you're on video, you'll have a hard time. Pulling way basically. So the trick is to have more video dates last tap tap it's more funding for the soul I. believe that's the way the industry's moving while it makes a lot of sense right now of course, but we didn't do before because people don't WanNa do video people wanted to consume video. They wanted to see the other person, but they were real shy about being in the video. That's all change. So. You don't need a tap town. It's OK. Now, to jump into video earlier, it's okay to agree on it being ten to fifteen minutes maybe half an hour and hey, if you've met someone that really likes you find and two hours you know goes if you really want to spend time with him but and why don't you both agree to that like the human inflection with our voice is so important. And not be conveyed by texting. And I think there's also a ton of miscommunication that can happen I always feel like obligated to put exclamation points after everything, which makes me fucking crazy because I feel like I'm going to portray myself up person. I, agree with that I agree with that we don't talk like we tight end to show somebody exactly how we feel is quite difficult even with him. Oh. Jeez and stuff like that. It's not the same. So Nick, would you feel up for potentially doing video dates and would you mind telling me about them? I love to I would love to. I would love that NATO and I cannot thank you enough for calling in writing and in talking with you short short. Thank you. Thank you, mark. Did you have any final words of advice for neck? You know I was just thinking? Of How you mentally approach Internet dating. This high expectations on both sides. And it's quite stressful sometimes as a tough thing to find joy through the Internet dating process because it's not that joyful experience when you tap tapping on keyboard the same sort of questions, the saints thing that's my videos human if you can approach each day with the goal of making the other person. Smile. Then at least you've been victorious on every day. I like that changed the mindset and you'll change the experience. Yeah. Mark is great advice. Good luck with it nick. I'm so excited. Thank you. Mark Nick thank you so much. I appreciate it. Thank you, mark. Thank you OUGHTA by. Mark, I cannot thank you enough. Time..

Brooks to help offers some advice in perspective online dating Mark Works with the leading Internet dating companies and has a unique understanding of a world which I know nothing about. Mark Thank you so much for your wonderful advice and I just I love talking with you. Thank you again I'm pleased the host I can help some of these folks. So we call neck. Hello. Hi How are you? It's on a good. It's such a pleasure to talk to you. I'm such an of you in the podcast I'll thank you nic in. Thanks so much for writing in I'm happy to talk to you. I'm here with Mark Brooks Hellenic I mark is a leading online dating business experts and he's been educating me about the world that I do not know of. Thank God. I know I. Saw Nick We. You tell us what's going on. Yeah Long Story Short I am from Ohio and I'm an actor and I've always had it in my sights to New York and about three years ago I did and I was in a relationship. For four years with a guy and I moved to New York and about let's say six months. Later we broke up it's something that I kinda already saw coming and. Relationship ended there. So the point at which we broke up was about a year almost two years ago to kind of survive in the you know in New York City I worked in hospitality, and that requires the worst hours in the world. So dating and winning, and you know coaching and stuff like that was very difficult and then Kobe happens and. Then all of a sudden I'm out of a work and while that's kind of bitter sweet, it gave me so much free time to devote to other things but then it was all pretty much just dating apps and while I consider myself to be a down to earth good guy I'm having a lot of trouble in one of the world's biggest city's. Finding guys who a are like they portray on their profile and be just serious when they aren't if it in a bigger city sitting through so much bullshit. Right and that's that's really just been kind of disheartening about the whole thing. Are you over your relationship? Yeah. Oh. Yeah. I called it off I have no hard feelings about the guy but I mean after four years I needed A. Little rest by okay. Okay. Good. So when people are insincere, what have you experienced nick as red flags on dating APPs I understand people get nervous when you go on date to start meeting somebody but it's almost as if like there's a lot of judgment and I think that comes from I'm twenty seven and the guys I I'm going for are between like twenty, five, thirty, five, I'd say. And I feel like both in the gay community and in age, there's a lot of politics and a lot of personality problems I kinda come out where there's a lot of I've been harsh mean judgment and a disrespect for the fact that each person's like a person I think these people tend to put too much emphasis on income I'm just wondering because you wrote, how can I find good guys during quarantine often? Relegated to dating on social APPS and while there are many is most don't seem to make the cut of having a good job positive outlook and respectful. How perceive difficult New York City dating climate. You guys probably all know this of never been on dating apps but I think it'll be very difficult to wade through the judgment like you just said Nick Year whether were doing it or they're doing it and finding. I guess sincerity I don't know mark. What do you think it's a large question. Yeah New York is a toughie depending on how you look at. You've got more choice there than anywhere else in the country and has more activity but New York is a very fast pace dating market right people generally feel like they have a ton of choice throughout the moved on. You know it's a different pace you know a different culture. So I think where dating apps help you is you can have video. Date I get a sense of someone I. Think it's just there's no reason to really go on a real world date now I, you should jump onto video day. Make sure you like the vibe or the person is saying, make sure they are who they look like NFL graphs and video doesn't lie. So you can make sure you can have a decent experience when you show up the not going to be someone who's Really, misrepresented themselves and you can gauge their body language just kind of get a sense of if they really someone fires you're. Really could bring you joy someone that you want to spend time with. You can tell a lot from video and it's okay to spend some time in video within the APP. Getting to know that person because you do have choice. One thing that I noticed it's just like I'm learning from past relationships. I'm trying to find something that's healthy for me and certainly for the other person to which is why the judgment goes both ways and the judgment is sometimes good and it's not meant to you know put anyone down and I think to myself. I should give people a chance to read them deeper to just base off like the first red flag because. When the screen is I don't know four or five inches on your phone. Yeah. I feel it incumbent upon myself to give whomever match with a good chance and that's what I'd like in return. Yeah. Great. Neck. I think that's noble. Exactly. That's the right attitude. I try. I really try. I just think that maybe just getting bogged down because you know we're doing it right we're in the house all Damn Day, and after a while the swiping motion or just like the Rolodex of people that you see in photos or like a little blurb, which is like it all looks the same. NUMBING Yeah. It's numbing exactly and I just wonder am I being too lenient or not harsh enough a friend of mine just told me last night and I think you know you guys might have some good insight to this. It's just like maybe you should just take a break where you're not even opening the APPS at all for a week or three days or something and reset yourself. You have like a few different APPS get your on Yeah I mean I'm not religious about you know checking them every day, but I'm on increasingly and. Mark, would you suggest.

"But I think I am her because fans. Either we forgive me I don't know who that is. Dolores Huerta was with Cesar Chavez and she helped found the united farm workers, Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta right? Yeah. With the great boycott and the SIP weather. Was the great chicano movement in the nineteen sixties and she was the biggest part of it and she's been arrested eighty five times. She's you know she just turned ninety and still still at it and she's amazing and I love I love her yeah. Okay. There a moment in your career or personal life that you're most proud of. Am I personal life when I got my master's degree, I was shooting desperate housewives. Season four or five. Now. Why I thought it was a good idea to get my master's. During the busiest time of my life and I went to one class, and then I took two classes and then I enrolled and then all of a sudden like Oh, my God and then it got out to the press. Now I have to finish because people know I'm in this. It was so all consuming like to be in an academic state, I can see how people get stuck in an academic. Drain. Because there's so much. We don't know and I was like Oh my God I gotta go back and I want to get my doctorate. It just opened my mind up even more and more and more, and I, remember graduating and. Doing my thesis and having to test the thesis and it just felt like a whole world that I had never been a part of an also. Oh, my God, this other subculture exists while we're over here making TV and making movies, and it's like these people are trying to solve world issues. and. I was like Gosh should go do that. So that was a really big accomplishment. Yeah. Okay. To whom would you most like to apologize and why? Oh, my mom she's still life it's not like she's not here but I was a horrible teenager I think back to some of the things that I said to her or like how I acted and I was not even a bad kid was like a straight a honor student and you're climbing the ladder, a Wendy's yeah and I was an asshole sometime like, oh, just oh mom. He you and I was like Oh. If my child ever says, I hate you, I just don't know what I would do like the heartbreak that that must sound like. So yeah, my mom sorry for being a really bad teenager wasn't like drugs or anything it was just like bad attitude in one word how would you like to be remembered? I don't know I don't know this hard for me to answer. I, know I was thinking about the idea of curiosity. And how curious you are your endless quest for knowledge about briefing and I love that about you I love that word but you're also incredibly generous and empathetic, but I do think that your curiosity. Definitely sets you apart a Wonderful Way Oh thank you I love that word more people were curious to find out the facts but generous is a good way. Hopefully, people think I'm generous with my time or with my knowledge and there's so many women have mentor to become directors and I might come over. We're going to sit down I'm going to show you couple shows I'm going to show you what the shot as it up and they're just blown away by the time right there like like you pulled up all these shows to show me like this is crazy I. Remember my girlfriend lineup Buddy I was directing. One's time, which is a very specific show. I've never done that kind of show but I was like come over I wanNA show you some stuff and I showed her some stuff and I said, so I looked at your show. And I realize you guys do a lot of this and a lot of that and a lot of this and we just talked about it for hours until she felt comfortable you've been on the show for eight years of nobody better to direct it than you and I would hope people think I'm Jenner's time that I love to spend time with people I love it that you have patience with people, but you also have high expectations for them. That is very, very generous. That you don't judge somebody's ability and your solution is like, well, let's help you heredity. Yeah. Figure it out. Yeah. So many of the girls just want to talk it out. I mean like so I did my shot list and this this this go it's great. Okay. Okay. Good. Good good. So that is so true though because I know they can do it. So I'm like do the homework do the work let's do the work. We'll do it together, but you got to do the work I. Know you're capable of doing the work either I just love you so much. And I can't thank you enough for doing this i-love-you Michael and I can't wait to see you again. "I love soapdish. I don't think I've seen now. Sally Field Robert Downey Junior Caffeine Amaechi. whoopie Goldberg everybody's in it. It was from the eighties. It's Hilarious it's what my TV show was based on Telenovela which was behind the scenes of a soap opera. So it called soapdish and it's big and broad and campy Robert Downey is twelve years. He's not twelve, but he's a baby and he's hilarious and Sally Field. She had done all these serious movies. And Cheetahs do magnolias and that writer who wrote stemming nullius wrote soapdish bobby harling and she goes I just WanNa be pretty for once in a movie because she was GonNa like. The striker that the morning mother and so bobby. Harling wrote Soapdish for her as beautiful soap star that were gowns and so she had a lot of fun with it. Oh. MAZING I. have to see that WHO would you call if you got food poisoning and couldn't really move? Oh, my assistant. Yeah. My husband would not be helpful in that situation. Definitely my sister same thing with like if I had a flat tire if I was in jail. was like stranded on. All my assistant she's like the most dependable person in the world I feel like I would call you because I would get it done. You call your assistant. I yeah. You fucking done. What qualities do you look for in a romantic partner humor and kindness? You've met my husband right did you meet him? No, he never even come. No. I never. So he's the kindest human being in the world like I thought I was nice and then I look like a mean person next to him because he's just so kind to. Everybody he encounters whether it's like the waiter or an executive that he knows or you know the Valet guy like he's just so kind and sweet, and I just always an all him I just a door, my husband because of that, and then he makes me laugh we just make each other laugh I love that Colorado like consideration across the board you're that way you're so kind and sweet to everybody you encounter until I stab him in the back. Yeah until you know the turn happens and then Air Fox. Okay. What qualities do you look for in a friend? I would say loyalty but that's such a big umbrella word. I've had the same girlfriend for twenty five years and I think the thing about long friendships that can never be replaced as the things you experience together you know all my girlfriends I was sleeping on their couch when I moved to Hollywood I remember borrowing their close to go on auditions because I didn't have close you know they would give me rides. To the audition and so when we go on vacation our, we go somewhere and they're like we can't believe we're in this hotel room because remember when we all shared one motel, six Vegas, right? We had to share a towel. It's like those bonding memories and experiences that we got to do together and I don't know what the word is for that but. I guess come Roderick or like a family, the family you choose. One of them could murder somebody and or maybe I would murder somebody and they would be like, okay we got we gotta hide the body. We're going to have to get a car. We're GONNA have to like they wouldn't ask anything of like, why did you do? They would be like. All right so What we're we got we got A. Bad example, no, it's a great example. Okay on what occasion do you Li-. I don't anymore what a great answer I don't know why I try not. I, don't really lie anymore I've really grown in that. Comes with age totally and I think the not wanting to hurt people's feelings you know Oh my God. You're movie was amazing. You care more about what other people think about you and so you Li- like you know, Oh, I could make your birthday party because I got food poisoning and you just didn't WanNa go right now I would say like they just couldn't get out of bed I mean I could not get out of the house and luckily when you have children to, it's actually true like just wanted to stay home with Jonty and. That's it. Yeah. I'm so with you and it's liberating and I really appreciate it when my hands are kind enough to give me the same thing like, yeah, I love you. But I WANNA watch this thing I, put my pajamas on and now I can't get out of them right? Right completely and I find the truth is so much easier and appreciate it. I agree with you it. So appreciated by people way more than audible or if you ask favors like, Hey, will you do my podcast people now? I don't want to I really. Don't WanNA. Do Any podcast right now? Like I just really don't want to do an interview right now people go great. Thanks for the quick response and as opposed to like making something up and then they'll come back later going how about now how about now how about and then it just doesn't go away you know what I mean. So it's like the truth usually ends the journey of whatever the conversation was happening but this podcast I love to do I was actually very upset I haven't been on in a while. I'm so glad that you are though I love talking with you. So I WANNA ask you do you have that one luxury item that you purchased maybe in your career you still have something that was like, I can't believe that this thing that was out of Reeche. Few years go now it would seem silly but the first thing I bought when I got like a big paycheck was a leather jacket, I don't have it anymore but I remember it was three hundred dollars I was like I can't ever wear it 'cause it might get dirty. And then I felt so guilty about it and going why three hundred dollar leather jackets. So that was like my biggest splurge. But now honestly I think the most extravagant things materialistically that I have were gifts I remember Santiago lot of gifts and even like putting the shoes on him and people are like. ooh, look at those shoes on like I didn't buy them. I would never buy him four hundred dollar shoes but somebody gave it to us. I felt like I should put them on his feet before he outgrow them and take a picture to send the person. But like I still have a poor man's mentality when it comes to spending I think. Most of the stuff I spent his for my family and travel I think travels the greatest luxury. So I will give my sister's trips somewhere for their whole family or we'll all take family trip somewhere and so those things are big splurges that I never feel guilty about because that's where I love to spend money doesn't surprise me at all about you like I don't see you as precious in that particular way I guess just because I grew up but yeah, I've never been like. Label Label Label label like I need that I need this. I'm always like. How much are those socks? That's a lot for socks. That's why you're right director control a budget. For what historical figure would you start a fan club? Jesus Christ that was my pageant answer back in the day. Really. Yeah. It was like if you had a time machine, you go forward or backward in time and who would you meet and I said I would go back in time to meet Jesus? Christ. Because I was like who's going to be? Jesus. Christ right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Boom mic drop. Yeah I win I win. We. Very spiritual. Fan Club four Susan B. Anthony Harriet Tubman Delors wet does she still alive.

Wish I could sing. I don't know how it serves me in any way but people go either you do it all you're such a multi hyphen anything you can't do and I'm like Yep saying saying, oh I'm sure you could I go oh no no like. There are people that are tone deaf. And cannot sing that's me I. Wish I knew how to play the piano. So when we went to like Hollywood parties, I could just as play the. Piano and yeah, this deal the show I like you say that if we go to Hollywood parties. Area that whole world of like. Musically talented like Piano Guitar, like I want to bust out guitar and. Sheryl Crowe was a really good friend of mine when she lived in La I, go to her house and. I would forget she's a Rockstar, and then we'd be similar and she bust out the guitar and belt out something and I was like Oh God. That's right. You're Cheryl Crow like your her. Because, she was so amazing and great. Yeah. Okay. What's a trait? You dislike and others inefficiency and? I think there's forty eight hours in a day I think people waste more time than they think when I just don't have time on like now you probably do you probably do have more time. What's a trait you dislike in yourself? Probably that I all about efficiency. But no I think this is something I've gotten better at. Since. He's been born is patients and I think it stems from that like Oh. There's just a better way to do it and it's my way at just kind of going. Okay. Yeah. Sure and letting go of needing to control that my husband is like a frustrated interior designer. So he's constantly moving the furniture like I'll walk into room and fall over because he moved the couch and I'm like, when did this move and he's like, yeah, I moved the couch. He moves the art every two weeks you know he's like we should change the pillows on the bed and it used to make me so upset and then I just stopped one day. Oh Make you upset who cares if he wants to move the couch every week. Let them move the couch eva like fine. The couch will be fine wherever it is. And I've kind of tried to apply that everywhere like when I meet people sometimes and whether it's like a know it all a one upper or whatever it is you go. Cool. Cool. Okay. So inside I'm like, okay, this is a one upper and and i. just let them be that as opposed to confront it Durham Yeah Okay easy easy buddy that's a good leader. Even I feel like you may be one of the few people that I know that doesn't hold grudges but I have no idea. Do you know I don't take anything personal either? Ever. Like. Ever, and I remember reading the agreements and that was one of them. I don't take things person on. That's what I always say I was a I eighty in my past life on nonunion films and there was a director who's just screaming and yelling and I was going and I remember this particular that was a deaf actor and the actor had to the street and I said I have to queue the actor is he's deaf he can't hear this is a live street. When do you want me to Q. The actor and he'd be like motherfucker about? And I was like great. So before or after the line, he's like you got damn I can't I can't I'll all that and I go. Okay. So should I do before the line and I remember my friend who was on set and he goes I was about to punch the guy for how horrible he spoke to you. So horrible and I literally go win. And he goes what are you that whole exchange you just had and I like literally went over my head because that wasn't my concern I was like I want to make sure the actor safe and I. Could sign a little bit. So I was like, okay. Trying to manage that knows like his ego is the last of my concerns. If. He wants to scream and shout that's on him and it's always been that way when I got divorced I was like, okay I'm going to hold onto the good. Not The bad when people have hurt me in the past or betrayed me, I'm like, wow, they must have been in a painful part of their lives to have made these decisions or whatever and. It sounds like gunman amazing enlightened percents I'm not I don't know where that comes from. It's just my nature well, because you're a wonderful person but also have a ton of other things to think about that. I'm really not concerned about you. ME. Have time to deal with your ship. Yeah. I, don't you hold grudges. No I. Think I can be really forgiving I am surprised I think when people have a different agenda than I do yeah. I don't know if I moved good at it as you are but I think I'm all right at not being too. Yeah, you strike me as a very forgiving person. I'm not forgiving as much as it doesn't even matter to me. So I'm like, okay by. Moving on like I'll have somebody go oh, you know I remember when we fought five years ago Mike we did. Remember. Thank you for forgiving me five years ago I. Don't know if I forgive you I just forgot. Very big difference. All right. What is your favorite rainy day movie? Rainy. Day Movie I love Casino Ooh. That's a good one to watch a movie over and over and.

"We were still one of the few shows on film. I would load the camera because I just wanted to know how to load a camera and then he gave me my first shot at directing and that's where everything really started because it's so crazy to think TV shows are baby movies because they're five, six, seven, eight, million dollar budgets per week. And you're in charge of all that as a director to distribute those resources in a way to create a show every week and. Doing Episodic Television as a director. Really it's hard but it also gave me the chops to jump over to film and go oh, this is just two million dollars fell. This is easy. Because the infrastructure of television is a little more rigid you have to operate within this particular thing. You know you know how rigid TV is. Yeah. I would love to learn more about directing. Oh, that's right. You said this before I have not been as inquisitive as you. I haven't used my time on set to learn about too much behind the camera activities and stuff. So I, feel unbelievably uninformed. Right. But what do you think would be of most value if you could give me like three bits of advice in terms of directing yeah. I think I you got to really want to do it because I. Mean I think some people are like me try. It's a lot of work I. Think for me it's very project specific, right? Totally like if there's a really special intimate script out there, I, would really love. To bring it to life. Yeah. Though some people think I want a direct cause they want that title but really what they wanted to do was right or really what they wanted to do was produce. That's a good question to ask yourself is what are you seeking to fulfil creatively and I guess I would think to surround myself with people that I really trusted in terms of their knowledge totally DP like Michael Barrett. Let's take. Michael knows I Bali bugged him and asked him one hundred questions while we were on overboard and he was like can somebody Except tell eager to go to holding. Where's the actors holding? Got Out again. I love you. We love you. Know here's the other thing is you don't have to know everything. But you have to be surrounded by people who do so I remember when I started directing. Of the. Technical terms I want it to go like. You know what I mean like. I gotcha I. WanNa like Walk Walk even once a group and we go loop and I would show him right and he goes Oh okay. You want to hide the zoom in the push and I go. Yes that's that's what I WANNA do. Yeah. Michael. got a kick out of that. You know what I'm talking about. Michael. So the next time I was onset go hey, can you zoom in the push and they go? Yes. On the last set because I've had amazing DP's and this is rare for women. But I've only worked with one bad DP that was a sexist that was like, oh. Yeah. Share you on put the camera there. Yes. Yes. I'm sure. Yeah. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't put it there. But okay like Bob from the Bronx has been a DP for eighty five years and I was like, Bob. Bob Listen to me. So I think that not knowing everything shouldn't prevent you from doing it because by the way they're not coming to you to direct for that. They're probably coming because of your tone and you're an actor and you would understand the material in a different way I remember I. Sat with Tyco, a Tedi, who is one of my favorite directors of all time and he's amazing and I love them all his movies and he he made these tiny tiny movies and then did for. God, take it like. What was it like renew walked on that set I mean obviously, they had a year of proper whatever. But he said you know there was pieces of equipment that costs more than all my films combined and I have never used that before. And he goes no the difference between green or blue. I don't know what that does. He goes, but I realized they didn't hire me for that. They hired him. For the tone in which his movies delivered humor and that's what I wanted for that and he said so I let everybody do their job and empowered them to do their job and made his job so much easier and I was like that's so true. So anytime I get really nervous about like. So the bear appear. It's okay to ask that. We're going to kill him like are we putting the blood? No no no that'll be so okay. But like never to be afraid of what you don't know and if you're surrounded by a great team and a special good DP, you'll be fine. Does it make you crazy when you work with people who are blustery that you can tell that they don't really know what they're doing they're all over the place. Yes I've worked those people I'm luckily in a position now that I get to crew up and so we have a team that's just a little village and we moved from project to project but I remember directing divas, maids and there was a line producer and. A what he was doing and B, he was an asshole. So that's like a bad combo and so we had rented getting such a kick out of your. DP was amazing DP and I were scouting and this new characters home and he here's the House we agree okay it's great house and then he goes we can't shoot inside are we? What do you mean? What does that mean? We can't shoot this is the house we have to be inside the house he goes. Yeah. It cost too much money. And we go. Okay. So is the question cannot go inside or is it? It's going to cost more to shoot inside. We can't shoot in the house. That's all he kept saying look we don't have to shoot in the house, but I do have to shoot out towards drive up. So I have to be inside the house because it's a pov can the camera guys be inside the house? Can we be on the second floor shooting down at the car pulling up and he goes? Yeah we can't be in the House and I'm like Oh my God, like he would never. Go here. Why are we pick without them? We can't be in the house and it was just like as talking in circles and that's what makes me crazy. But like I said, I, actually have been so blessed in the last couple of projects I produced and directed grand. Hotel which was a show on ABC and I was like I. WanNa Interview Female DP's I've never seen one like UNICORNS. and. ABC's like. There's none we're like what? Surely, there are female DP's. Tom and Bob and Hank, and then they all and then there's this woman you know and she came in with the best presentation she was just like this high will do that she was kind and talented and that's the Best Combo and we've done you know eight more projects than because we have now a shorthand she's amazing. She then has to female camera operators who have two female AC's so beautiful to see. Me Give back to her her give back to other women like just to help them along I. Remember we were on Grand Hotel and there is an AC, a focus puller who just was missing the shot. It was really hard rat and I said, okay now she's going to turn on that line you gotta go to her and she's like, yeah. Yeah, and you could tell the poor girl was sweating. And she could never get it and then happened many times. Allison comes me. She goes I know I know I got a flyer got to fire the and I said, no, don't fire her trainer tell her why she's doing that wrong who is the operator that can help her get it? I don't know how she's going to do it but like don't fire her trainer and she's like all right and so in editing like. We don't have this. But we kept her because she needs that chance to get better I love..

"Am as you're trying to get to where you WanNa go you skip a couple of things. It's like you've heard the story a million times about Hollywood like I was discovered at a starbucks you know you're like, okay. Usually. Not How it happened. I was an extra and then I got one line and then I got two lines and then I got four lines like I. was climbing the ladder and I think that's in life you have to touch every wrong so that when you get to where you want to be, you know every facet of that industry I knew how long it took for the Buns to go through the Bun warmer it was like thirty three seconds, and so I could do how many buns in a minute and so it was the same with acting. I witnessed this quality that you have on the set of overboard where we I got to know each other because you knew everybody's name. Treated everybody with the same amount of respect and you were demanding with a big smile on your face. which was an amazing. Because you would come to set always in a great mood and this let's do this attitude. It was amazing. It's so funny because so many people told me that they're like you command this respect in a very authoritative way, but you're not an asshole about like everybody is so confused by that country. And I feel like should never. Have respect for everybody and shouldn't everybody kind like for me they're just to givens and you're right. It's not common and I think it is surprising when people actually see it in action. No, it was. You would be like what the fuck are we waiting for? Anyone just laugh just like that. was like she's a powerhouse. I was a different situation than you. You were carrying this movie in every scene in every day, I got to pop in for a week pop out I was like by grabbed on I'm going to go have a drink. I'll see you at six am and you're like. I'M TIRED I think it's rare to meet somebody who is instantly like a kindred spirit you were so that you make people at ease and you still expect a lot from them which. But I. Hear make APP and you'd be cracking me up. All Day long you're one of the easiest persons to love. Let me tell you I remember I had to fight for this role. Robin. Bob, we're like I don't know. Y-. Hot. I like. Meet with them five thousand times and I was like I have to be in a movie with Ana Farris. You don't understand this is like a dream of mine in your blocking me for my dreams and they like right. But what about the role I'm like that too I'm good for that. And then I forget I think it was like Pentagon are forget who made the movie but my husband. Was the financier of the movie, his company. So I'm like my fifth time already and I'm I talking about this movie run he goes what movie are you talking about and I said overboard and he goes Oh that's that's one of my movies I go. Well, why the FUCK QUESTIONING Just. Give me the part and then literally weak leader Robin Bob called me and they go okay. You got the part and I go when I? Don't know if I want it. I don't know I got it. I don't know but my husband got it for me and my husband Goes Oh, I, never called anybody. I don't know if I knew that I knew a little bit about it. And I love it. So you are open enough and fucking cool enough to tell that story. Other actor would be like plume and they asked me to do it. I was hesitant or. Whatever posturing? Oh. I wanted movie so bad because I was a fan of yours I love Hegna was a person. He's a wonderful human being Derbez and then the property I was like, yeah, it was amazing. One of my favorite jobs I've ever done. Do you remember the day that we were in the boat the small boat, the fish You're everybody got so sick. Yeah. Poor little kids. Oh Yeah. Yeah. While Ohana was on the big yacht I know waving at us. And we're like Oh my God i. Gas Fumes. How Great is Mel? Rodriguez? One of my favorite people in the war. What or who has influenced your career the most through my career, my career probably Mark Cherry? who created desperate housewives I mean obviously Marchetti I guess I should say he changed the trajectory of my life and made me a household name by giving me this amazing role in this show that became a global phenomenon. It was just literally overnight like my life changed overnight and I remember he. Came from this was back in the day when ratings like I remember we had like thirty million viewers and Marc. Cherry are crater was like, oh, that's it. Because he came from a time of golden girls where you know you will get fifty million or whatever, and so he was like Oh and now you look in like number one shows right now are five million viewers maybe i. Maybe. Yeah. He's just gave me a shot and he wrote that character. So. Well, and it just lent to my strengths in Oh and I always think when it's your old your role it's like you got it or you don't got it and so jeering desperate housewives I had always wanted to produce and direct and I was producing a lot before I got desperate outside an actor turn producer director but I think I was always a producer director I turned ASSOC- that there's nothing surprising about that knowing new. Bossy. Efficient, and I'm like, why are we turning around again? Shouldn't we have just gotten this when we were on the other side like I was always aware of where the camera was and how many shots were left and I remember Marcia across would go how do you know that? How do you know what is said and how do you know where light is and? I'm like, Oh my God it's so easy Marsha like it's the access is here and so we had a turn around here return on here and she's like so should I walk through the coffee but I don't want to the coffee pot that's like four more setups and we're GonNa be here all night just drink the coffee on the couch don't walk to the kitchen. And she's like, okay, got it. Got It. Right. So I was always aware always aware of that stuff and so I use desperate housewives film school, 'cause I didn't have formal training but it all came very natural to me and mark really gave me the opportunity to be that sponge I. The camera guys in the DP's they were so sick of me because I was like, what does that what does that do that? What does that but why are they standing there? But what kind of light is that doesn't that run out quicker than the other and they were like? He was onset..

"You for coming back. I'm so happy to talk to you got. We hate. So either when you're last on the podcast, you told us that you were thinking about starting a family. Really I. Think so I think so too because we had just finished overboard. Yeah I wasn't pregnant then actually I got pregnant right after overboard we'll. That's what I wanted to ask you all we ask. So we did the podcast jerry filming that. Yes. Okay. Okay You correct. Will you had that secret smile though that people who are pregnant early on? I was like, I wonder if she was pregnant and now I did pregnant though two months after because I was like October November when I found out, I was directing the MIC I don't know if you know Caitlin. Awesome. She's freaking she's great in brilliant. Be I know such a good show and I was directing to make I was so tired and I was falling asleep between like turnarounds and I said what's the turn on they go twelve minutes and I go great way no and we're ready and I said Oh my God what is wrong with me and then I got the call that I was pregnant and I said these people missing I'm just lazy director. because. I was sleeping the entire time either no one could ever describe you as lazy. You were amazing at the DNC. I want to say congratulations who feels weird. It was a wonderful surprise to me. I didn't know anybody know was that sort of top secret they announced it like the night before they tried to keep everything on lockdown because you get attacked for it anyway but it was important. You know I think it's all of this. So important, will you've been involved in politics for quite a long time? You were involved with Barack Obama's reelection campaign. You also like do a ton of Shit. Amazing stuff. What are you most? Want, to ask you what you're most proud of, and I don't want to ask you how you juggle it all because I hate that question I know I, know you just do like you just figure it out actually since become a mom maybe you got this but the mom shame of the world are real an I never want to be that person to be on a podcast of like what I do is. I put my son to bed at seven because studies show that the BRA like God. Good for you. You go do that. But like I am never going to tell someone how to parent I am in no way an expert of being a mom and so that question of how do you do it all even answering it makes other women feel less than sometimes because I'll hear it and I'll hear women go. Oh. My God it's Great Blah Blah Blah and I'm like oh gosh. She has it together. We'll maybe I'm not doing something right but I have a village I have a huge family and so I have a lot of help I mean have an amazing husband who supports me I've amazing sisters and I have mazing girlfriends who have kids the same age. So it's just like we all chip in and get it done. All right. Let's dive into live questions. Gosh, he's going to be hard. I nothing that you can handle. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year where would it be? Oh, Gosh. South of France south of Italy south of any country south of Spain Gosh. Probably, France. Yeah. I have like a a love connection with France, and I would love to live in a chateau and walked to the Boulangerie in the morning and get a Baguette I want I. Want. To come with me. I sure do. I to have a little espresso in the morning with. A Costal. Okay. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Vanilla. When we only get that from guys, they like to add toppings me too I like Vanilla and I add almonds, Pecans sometimes I. will add up a drizzle of chocolate but mostly just vanilla and I'm not a big ice cream person period LMS Sore Bay Person. I Love Orange Sorbet and mango sorbet and lemon sorbet in the south of France in the south. Of France. Yet love what's your favorite curse word probably fuck fuck fuck I missed up fuck. Why did that happen? MEOW? Is that when French? To Demo. Put. The translation male dish it but yeah, you're 's I fuck I like. Shit sometimes if I'm feeling really randy yeah I'll say can't you know Oh. That's I like the idea of owning the word. Yeah, it's like I challenged that word to offend me. Not that week. Even what was your first boss like he was very mentoring? This wasn't at the Q.. Yeah it was Wendy's. Yeah I wish I worked at Dairy Queen Oh. My Gosh. In Texas dairy Queens have food everywhere else they just have ice cream in Texas. There's like great burgers anyway but it was Wendy's and his aim was bobby and I was a baby I was fourteen and he was like you could be manager one day you a lot of initiative and I was like, oh. My God and I did I became manager I worked there five. Years I was nineteen years old, and I was a manager because the minute I walked in he goes one day. If you really work hard, you could do this and I remember the first time I think minimum wage was like three dollars or something crazy like that and when I made like head cashier I got a ten cent raise. So I was making three dollars and ten cents and I was like, I, I have a ride. He made the job very fulfilling like you matter and I think we don't really look at those jobs like that. Anymore. Unfortunately I wish we had patients and appreciation for customer service both ways by the way because I was an amazing customer service Heroes Acre. Absolutely you're absolutely right. We put onions in that Burger I will take it back like there was no attitude it was like the customer was always right it's a different world. Now I think you know people feel like those jobs expendable and they're only filled by teenagers who cares right and back then it was really important to me it was an important job to have. I. Think that that speaks tear ambition and your concern about the details and kind of respect for the protocol of Climbing Oh. Yeah. Yeah. You have to touch every rung of the ladder I.

"I love that song breaking me topic and eight seven s on kiss this morning. So we're getting closer to October Halloween just around the corner and this isn't now you have a little bit. You brought a little show and tell this morning I did it so. I. Think it's a great book for all parents to have for their kids. But the way I got it I guess maybe as. A little sketch book read to Asia and Yeah. So I was reading this book to Asia and I put on my instagram the other night I got a lot of the like Oh, like what are those books and they're called? They're like ABC four, and then you it's either ABC for physics ABC for biology ABC for mathematics like this, very like at Vance, type of subjects, but it starts slow select the for you only read the first. The first line to them when they're toddlers and then when they get a little bit older, you can read the next paragraph and things like that. To read the book he kind of does. Yes so right now you just start with like well, play the audio that of me reading as A. Physics Law degree. For Jupiter, you'll be good job is. Next. One of K is for Kepler. Law. Wa. L. Is for. A year. Good job. oops. Is For me when you say moon one. And for Neutron Star. Trek. I'm legit Louis Michael doing his own lesson in the background. Yes. So I don't know they were reading. And I thought he was by himself learning physics. Now but he's probably another book. So I found these books by watching that show the home edit on Netflix. So, they do a few celebrities homes and then they also do other people's homes. They did even Longoria, his son's bedroom switching out of a nursery into his big kid room and they organized all of his books in a rainbow like they usually do. So I paused my TV. And I zoomed in on my phone on my picture to try to see what books even Longoria buys for her. That's how you found the books and that's how I found. That's great. But. It's a sign of the Times things are people's backgrounds. Everyone's obsessed with I. I know just like I want to see kind of books evil. Actually, has a retail store of her books in her background. I pay selling books out of that bookshelf in her home. Yes. Also, I think credit cards over here. Yeah. I mean that looks like a retail bookstore for kids. So. Good. So longoria thank you for. It takes. Years to get through a book yes. So that I if the picture at the top part, you just do es for ecosystem effort fossil things like that just for word or fossil. F Fossil. Law Exactly. So you do that for like, I don't know this year or two, and then there's a picture and then the next one is an ecosystem is a community of living things because eventually she'll be like what is an ecosystem and then you just kind of explained to her in one sentence and then when she gets older, there's a paragraph that gives you more information like examples of ecosystems include the Mike Blah Blah, blah the risk of embarrassing myself I could actually read those in learn a lot. Selah sure myself or be refreshed a lot to I. Agree are we're coming back in one minute to pay a bill the first one lots of bills today.

"You when we come back right after this. Right now, at this defining moment America from ABC News turning point a groundbreaking nightline event bay all. Labor ABC. We're back with either LONGORIA. Sunny. You have a question. Yes now, there's a shocking statistic. With instagram page, I was just stunned by this. There are a thirty, two, million eligible voters in the US yet let the turn out rates are just fourteen to twenty percent lower lower than non Hispanics, black or white women. What is behind that stat and what do you want? To know about how important it is to come out and vote votes truly are very important. Yeah. It's interesting. Stephanie Valencia Created Lab, which has a lot of research on on that. That's where this data comes from. But there was a huge enthusiasm motivation gap and that has now closed. We are now seeing Latinos going. Oh my gosh, I do WANNA for Dessert. I. Do WanNa vote what's happening is a confidence and self esteem problem and they find the voting booth very intimidated a lot of the down ballot. is also intimidate what judges to vote for. I don't want to mess up they feel like they need a political science degree in order to vote, and so what we have to do is a lot of voter education and letting these women. No, you don't have to have a PhD in political science, your your Your vote and voice matters and it affects you know politics affects people and you're that person because the politics and policies that are currently being made. Are disproportionately affecting the community, and so we definitely have to do a better job of of getting that message out to Latinas also in the in the states that matter the most Latina's not Latina's make up the margin of victory for a candidate. So if these Latinos were engaged. They could decide by themselves who's going to serve in these public offices. Wow Evil with life as we knew it on pause for the last six months and counting what has this time been like for you and your family. Amazing. I tell you I'm privileged because I have a home and I don't have to go to a job without p. and there's so many people struggling right now during this time I've had an amazing moment with my son News at an age that is not a baby. So awesome. Cool And he doesn't quite understand what's going on so that the my homeland scrapped, this is why people do into my instagram for him. You posted a beautiful picture of you breastfeeding your son while you were in the middle of directing a project. Know I feel very passionately about normalizing breastfeeding and taking away the sexualization of that. But why did you want to share this with everyone? Will Not only breastfeeding motherhood in general like we're mothers and you do we can do more than one thing at the same time at. Same. Time surprise surprise. I remember you know humping in between the setups and feeding him and then taking a five minute nap and and. And women do it, and they do it all the time and we have to normalize motherhood in the workplace because I feel like. Especially when you talk about policy and politics paid maternity leave. Child. CARE EXPENSES People don't realize women internalize that saying that's the problem I have to figure out I'm going to have to figure out how to you might childcare I have to figure out how to have maternity leave that shouldn't fall on us. In the household that is that is policy. I remember ever you directing Grand Hotel nine months pregnant what seventy which I loved those the only time I could stand next to you and you know not feel completely inadequate. "Thank you governor. It's always a pleasure to see you keep going doing wonderful work. Governor John Casick we'll be right back. Thank you. Does either longoria respond to Senator Marco Rubio Calling Democrats clueless for letting US Celeb- like her MC. The DNC she's live on the view next. It's going to take all of us. So tonight, we stand together united by the values we cherish decency respect justice, and the opportunity to rise up. We always hear that line about this being the most important election of our lifetimes but this year it really is. That was actress activists, Eva Longoria speaking at the recent Democratic National Convention, and making the case for why this is the most important election of our lifetimes maybe. Even before that and his tell us how she's helping to keep the Latino community informed and engaged is the talented and it's Super Patriotic Evil Goria. Sarah. How are you? Hi Either we always love having you here on the show. You EXAC you exude such girl power that's very on brand for us as a panel of women and you do so much work with your activism you're acting and directing and a lot of it is women focused. Why is that so important to you? Let women are the CEOS of the household. We make the financial decisions we make the educational decisions we make the healthcare decisions. and. You know during this year in this pandemic, we've just seen women bear the brunt of the responsibilities whether it's for their business for their job for their children home schooling. I just thank God Santis not at the age of home schooling because I can't imagine what parents mothers are going through right now. But you know. We should focus on women women make the world. Go Round. Women are the economic engine. Of this particular country and of the world and you know we're not a special interest group, we are half the population of the globe. So ever let's talk a little bit about the DNC you've been at the on multiple locations and some Republicans forgot to Google you. We saw during the convention that Marco Rubio came after he tweeted brilliant move. No one is more in touch with Americans with challenges and obstacles by everyday Americans than actors and celebrities. which I thought was really funny given that. Their nominee is an actor and celebrity and show host show. They must have forgotten who nominated and then we saw Romney mcdaniel Romney the name she's taken away come at you during the opening of the RNC so. Come on sister respond to that. Well about it well versed about people thought I got Marco Rubio trending on an viral. Got Marco Rubio Trendy. Fierce. Backlash, she got because I didn't show up to the DNC as a celebrity I showed up as a ninth generation American I showed up as the daughter of a veteran I showed up as the daughter of a teacher I showed up as a woman who took student loans had student debt for ten years a woman who had six jobs during college just to. Put Food on my table and so I under- I definitely understand the struggles. And how to achieve the dream and and I'm definitely now to day in a place of privilege but that wasn't always the case for me. The other day I referenced a poll from NBC that shows Biden severely underperforming with Florida Latinos in two thousand sixteen that demographic preferred Hillary Clinton over trump by a huge margin it's almost twenty points but as of the latest Gallup polling trump holds a narrow lead over Biden. The RNC has made a real effort especially in Florida to engage Latino voters and it seems to be working. I'm actually very surprised by this. Are you concerned the Democrats are forgetting about this key demographic? Yeah you know you were so right. I was listening to hot topics. You're talking about the enthusiasm gap and that's definitely been. The challenge for eligible voters who don't show up, they've registered they've done almost everything except go to the polls. A lot of that is a voter suppression that's alive and real. But what it proves I think is that we're not a monolithic group right humans make up a large part of the Latino electorate in Florida they have a very different historic relationship. With this country as does mexican-americans as does Puerto Ricans. I will also say Florida is the only state that Biden is trailing with let the nose and you know I think at the end of the day the only that's GonNa matters the one on November third. Presidents President trump's assault on the Latino community and Latino Dignity started the very Davis campaign and that's continued. Last four years putting children in cages, betraying dreamers, underfunding schools and community propeller, the neglect of Puerto Rican after Hurricane Maria so yeah, I. Think at the end. Where a very smart community, we will not be a voting fear based we're going to be. Fighting with the candidate who shares our values of of family and The candidate who's going to provide economic mobility because here's the other other. People take for granted is that Latino issues, our immigration and citizenship the number one issue for Latinos is the economy you WanNa make sure infrastructure of opportunity for us to achieve economic mobility. That's what we want for our children and our families and at the end of the day. We're going to side with candidate who's going to provide that infrastructure and I think we know who it is. Thank you for reminding people about Puerto Rico. and. "A different kind of a Republican from what we see today. I'm still Republican. I'm still a conservative government, a not as a first resort as a last resort, but government is not the enemy and sometimes we need it. So look I'm living here in the twenty first century and I'm concerned about the environment I'm concerned about. Race I'm concerned about the gulf between the rich and poor I'm concerned about the debt that these people seem to have forgotten about. So you know my job is to try to carve out a new path for the way that Republicans want to go and I'm being joined by a significant number of them and I'm glad was I was out there and being able to do these things. But there's there's others that Kinda share my feelings, and that will be the debate in the future of the party. Are we four things or are we against things? We have great ideas. Are we willing to have no ideas? That's the question. Governor I actually have been looking forward to having you want to ask this question because I you know my family I was raised with a certain set of values and principles and I was raised conservative gotten more conservative as I've gotten older. I'm almost nine months pregnant and I feel like the stakes are incredibly high. I hate president trump I think everyone knows that. But there are some policies on the left specifically with senator. Excuse me with Senator Kamala. Harris right now having to do with abortion. She cosponsored a bill posing any limits at all when you can get an abortion and it's a big break from Joe Biden's pass positions and the Biden Harris campaign is also running on taxpayer funding for abortions. I was surprised at this including those after twenty weeks you're pro-life I know. That, and you pro-life when you were in politics as am I, it's a big big part of who I am and my platform and I don't think taxpayers should be funding abortions for women who are pregnant as I am right now. So how would you push back against a voter like me who's concerned about things like this and a possible Biden Calmly Administration I agree with your position on the life issue, Megan but look. Again, I'm not a person first of all I disagree with with Joe, Biden and a number of areas I don't like you know what he's talking about in terms of capital gains taxes but the issues here are dwarfed in my opinion by the fact that he's a person can pull together. So do I think that if he wins that all the sudden, all these things are going to happen that are negative. No, I don't believe that at all because that's not his character that's not who he is, and as you know, I mean, I I don't really WANNA get I. Hope this is appropriate for me to say as you know your father and Joe were great friends why month because they? Agreed, on everything, but they could find common ground. So do I think we're going to end up in some cataclysmic place if he wins I don't but I do believe four more years of this division is wrecking the very soul of our country and we continue down this path. I don't know how we come back except by the way I would encourage people to look at what I wrote on USA Today about the power of faith. Franklin. Roosevelt Link Lincoln himself called on the power of God to help the American people to overcome crises that is part of how we're going to overcome this division with the inspiration from our creator animating individuals to wake up to what's happening in this country. Well John. I'm glad you'll bring up God because God knows I think the Republican Party needs prayer right now and I want to ask something but I asked myself. Where do you see yourself in the Republican Party will remain a Republican if trump wins another four years and what do you think the long term effect or damage in my view to the Republican Party of trump presidency of trump leadership is what will this fever pass? Well, you know there are other Republicans like Christie Whitman. Saw The senator flake my dear friend Bill Kristol. There are a number of US Ana Navarro. These are people who say that we can become a party of ideas, a party of excitement, a party of opportunity. If we don't become that, then it's going to cause us all to think a lot about things. So we're GONNA just have to see if there's GonNa be a Republican Democrat or perhaps at some point a third party, we'll see it's up to the parties to determine this. Well.

"Speak louder against violence in cities around America plus actress and activist Evil Longoria on whether or not she thinks lat next Americans could help president trump win the key battleground state of Florida off. Welcome back. there. Was a moving show of solidarity. Last night's NFL opener when plays joined arms in protest against racism but not everyone was impressed watch. I personally would like to know what sixteen thousand people doing in a football stadium in the middle of a pandemic and I don't think they had masks on or they wouldn't have been able to bow. Am I, right sunny. Yeah I gotTa tell. You. I was so disappointed. And disgusted. At what I saw yesterday I just started to joy. Is there no form of protests against racism that is acceptable you know Colin Kaepernick a was peacefully protesting by taking a knee and that was unacceptable people. are talking about rioting and saying that of course that is unacceptable. My Friend, Benjamin Watson, who's a former NFL player. tweeted out last night and he said, don't kneel don't lock arms don't love each other don't empathize with your brother. Don't care about your country don't speak up for the vulnerable don't seek justice or righteousness just play. And I think that's really sad like that's just. Sad that in this country that just one businessmen to play. Yeah they need to boo against. Not Against Protests against racism do think protests have a place on the Field Sarah what are you say design the booing. So offensive ever like win is booing ever welcome. You're about to watch these people do what they do. You pay to come watch them, entertain you but you don't want them to speak up. There's not a place in this world right now where you can go that people aren't talking about their politics from a button on your shirt to a sign in your yard to a hat you're wearing it's a very sad time that we all know were divided. Why are we so offended by? That which is different from our own. We hold our phones like people think they can go somewhere right now for entertainment and not deal with politics but we hold our phone all day long which blows up with social media and news headlines about what we're doing people need to stop being so offended and recognize that the beauty of this country is that we should be able to live next to each other respectfully and disagree at the same time and as good therapist once told me stop being so concerned about changing the world around you and start dealing with your reaction to it better equip yourself. Good. That's right. Okay. Very good. So what about you Megan? What are you saying that this? Look, I am not a huge football Aficionado I. Think I've made that clear on the show before. But what I find interesting is there's a new Gallup poll that just came out that said, forty percent of Americans see sports negatively versus a year ago at just twenty five percent I agree with what everyone said I think sports are political if you go back to people like Muhammad Ali the it always seeps its way in one way or another but I have heard from a lot of people a lot of my friends of mine that are huge football fans that aren't going to football for. Escapism. Escapism and they don't necessarily want to be confronted with with any kind of political activism on any level. I actually thought that the joining of the arms was a pretty tasteful and respectable way to do it. It would not have offended me. It's much different than the kneeling conversation but I think as you said Sarah, we are just so inundated with politics right now we're so divided I personally trying to find any and all entertainment of any. Kind whether it be sports or movies or whatever, that is not political in all factions of my life because you can't leave your door without doing it but this is going to be an ongoing conversation as as the football season continues and I'm sure we'll see more of this really bad. It would be nice if we could. We need to be distracted from occasionally but not before election day we're in this fight till that we'll be right back. How does former Republican Ohio Governor John Kasich respond to President. Trump's reaction to his endorsement of Joe Biden. He's alive on the view. Takes Courage to switch sides in the middle of campaign season and even greater courage to oppose the leader of your party which very few people do. Very feel. But that's exactly what former Ohio governor John Kasich did when he took the stage at the recent Democratic National Convention and endorsed Joe Biden for president. Please welcome my favorite convert John Casick. Joy, I love the view. View and you. Okay thank you so so governor, you are lifelong Republican, and therefore you shocked a lot of people when you decided to speak at the national, the Democratic National Convention a few weeks go why? Why did you want to do that? Tell us what's going on with you. It's FAFSA matter of conscience that I know joy the many times I've been on the show. I've. I've said that this fighting is in fighting this division is just not acceptable in our country and Republican Party by the way has always been my vehicle. It's never been my master. So there's no surprise here. It's not like I'm GonNa new. Swim Lane I spent a lot of time negotiating, for example, the balanced. Budget with Democrats and bill. Clinton and got that done and helped our country. This is a time when I believe we need the divisions. GotTa. Stop. I, mean you guys just covering the booing a football game. I mean we can't have this going on anymore and I believe that Joe Biden has nine a temperament to bring people to the table. He's not a my way or the highway kind of guy and. You know I don't agree with them on everything but the matter is, let's get people together sit around a table and figure out some of our big problems. Four years ago you wrote in Senator McCain on your ballot instead of voting for trump or Hillary Clinton. Now, there are many Republican voters who feel the same way this year they don't want to vote for trump, but also can't really see themselves voting for a Democrat. What's your message to these people? What what how did we get to this point? Where where does this football that? I sit on one side of the field new sit on another we're Americans before anything else and if you feel that four more years down this path. Of Disruption and division is okay I I can't help you there. But if you believe that we need to have a restart that we need to calm things down, we need to get together not just politicians but the people then I think you have to vote for Biden. You have to do that and just sitting it out or casting vote for whoever you care about. That's not going to get it done and so I've concluded that. It is most important for me to be able to give space to people and and permission to some degree to people who who are sitting there saying well, you know I've been a republican or vice versa I've been a democrat. It's time that we get away from those party labels. It's the twenty first century. We've got a for the person at for those people who are GonNa, lift our country, not people who are going to divide it. Well governor you faced some criticism after your DNC speech Chris Christie set you were untruthful a backstabber and then set your endorsement would mean zero trump also told reporters that you were quote a loser and a Republican and will be an even greater loser as a Democrat How do you respond to these comments? Yeah. Well, I vote I don't pay any attention to them. Look I've been a republican all my life in a conservative. But. You know I'm a little different out here in Ohio. We balanced budgets I left three billion for the guy that came after me and our rainy day fund but I also expanded. Medicaid. So that six hundred, seven, hundred, thousand people could have access to healthcare mental health treatment addiction services. So I'm.

Near Week continues live on a brand new view election twenty, twenty s closing in fast just fifty three days until you vote your view. Unfit to serve a surprising new poll that found more than half of voters don't think either candidate is mentally fit to lead America and former Republican Ohio Governor John Casick is live to talk about why he was riding with Baden Epa Democratic National Convention and how he thinks hurt his rep with the GOP plus twenty twenty DNC EMC actress and activist Evil Goria talks about how she's helping Latinos transform their lives and transform America. You come hot topics. With whoopie Sarah Anes Joy Behar Sunny Austin Megan McCain and Ana Navarro. Now. Let's get things started. Hello, and welcome to the view today marks the thousand, th anniversary of the nine eleven attacks, and we WANNA take a moment to acknowledge and remember all the people we lost on that horrible awful Danieli, two decades ago. Never, forget, that is what we have to say today. And we will not. Okay. It's also Friday and so joining us as Co host Ana Navarro, today Hello Anna Nice to have you back here. All our joy. Hi, everyone I agree to be on with you. So. Let's jump into hot topics. Shall we ladies? Yes. Yep. Okay. America is like what fifty three days away from electing a president that's really not a long time and this concern among American voters that neither candidate is up to the task. That's right. A NEW CNBC poll says that fifty five percent feel that Donald Trump is mentally unfit for the job while fifty two percent say that Joe Biden was not mentally up to the task. So ladies, what can we make this with the Mir seven weeks to go before judgment Dan we'll start with ANA. And you know joy it's actually less than seven weeks in some places because in places like Florida, absentee go out in a couple of weeks and people are going to start voting look I think it's very concerning but I don't understand how anybody can can think there's an equivalence between Joe Biden's mental fitness. The man is coherent. He's not sending us out to inject bleach into ourselves. He is not holding multi thousand people rallies packed like sardines in the middle of pandemic. I was with Kamala Harris, and Doug, and how often Miami yesterday and the care they are taking the covert measures that campaign is taking. So you won't see the same rallies you're seeing from trump. What you're seeing are people who are taking pandemic that has cost one hundred and nine, hundred thousand lives seriously respectfully and civil unlike unlike the guy who I do think is unfair in every single way mentally character physically intellectually you name it. Morally, ethically. How much time have we got left but I've been fact I see a lot of a lot of footage with him dragging his foot and his arms are going crazy. I don't know people not watching the same footage on budget. What do you make of the poll though Megan I'm wondering? Yeah I. Believe you're right. Joy I. Mean I think there's a huge enthusiasm gap. Is should be concerning to all of us right now and I'm actually worried about at suppressing voter turnout. You're right. There are videos and clips going around president trump like you said, the conspiracy theories about his health both of these men are almost octogenarians and. In almost eighties and you're running for president is going to take a different toll than when you're President Obama and you're and you're in your forties actually WanNa play a clip from Fox. News. Last night that's getting a lot of attention with. A surrogate from the Biden campaign. Has Joe. Biden ever used a teleprompter during local interviews or to answer QNA with supporters, but we're not GONNA get this. This is straight from the trump campaign they're using and what does and what it does is trying to distract the American people I understand but you can't answer the question but I am not going to allow trump campaign to funnel their questions through Fox News and get me to respond to that. So, this is his surrogate, just not answering if he's not using a teleprompter for interviews, which normally wouldn't be a big issue I. Don't think because people use notes and prompters for different things. But when the narrative that the trump campaign has been putting out is Joe Biden can't get out of his basement and then when he does, he's only doing softball interviews. With, prompters this is the chickens coming home to roost, and if you are TJ duck low, who is a nice man by anybody's standard, you just can't say, Hey, he was using notes. It's no big deal pivot to what? Ana Just said about President, trump you gotta get off this narrative and I'm personally worried that both of these candidates haven't had enough exercises. Metaphorically. Speaking to get ready for these debates and Joe Biden looks even a little bit unprepared. It's because they've kept him to insulate it and I think that's the concern and that's maybe why this poll is growing. Okay all right, and so sunny. So you worried. About the poll. I'm not a physician, and so I think it's an appropriate to pine about mental fitness. It almost feels to me but I, think you can pine about character fitness and I think you can opine about leadership fitness and let's face it I. Mean I think His record trump's record of failures in leadership as president shows that he's unfit mean they're over one hundred and ninety thousand Americans that are dead due to this. His ineptness in handling the corona virus, he lied to the American people he calls military men and women losers he calls you know a African Americans and All sorts of names and Latinos all sorts of names and I think his own. CABINET MEMBERS CALL HIM ON FIT Mattis said to deny director coats trump's dangerous. He's unfit. The president has no moral compass codes even said to him ally is not alive. Just what he thinks he doesn't know the difference between a truth and ally these are people that know him that served under him. So so the fact that others don't seem. To think that he's fit is bizarre to me how could people still? Resident Sunny. They're only talking talking about physically unfit. We'll have to see the polls that tell you whether he's morally unfit Sarah before we go tell us what you think. Well, I think the what Megan alluded to about the lack of enthusiasm for either candidate concerns me purely because we we need voter turnout for for any election to to work to be successful for change but I, think what was also important? I think it's a false equivalent to compare these two men and what voters are saying is mentally unfit. I, think when people talk about Joe Biden They're speaking and I love Joe. Biden I've met him on a few occasions. I think what they mean is if you compare public appearances from even a few years ago that the way he presents himself has changed slightly now with President Trump I think you're talking about his his actual default settings like the person he inherently is and one scares me more than the other I think the way president trump operates. It. Doesn't lend itself to the collaboration that's necessary for any president to be successful surrounding yourself by the best of every field leaning on those generals and as we've seen with president trump, there's been high turnover people have left those very people that were in those inner circles are the one saying he's mentally unfit. So between the two I, see the division but I don't think you can impair the reasons behind that. Okay well, I've met both of them and I haven't seen Donald in years at SAM's. But when I see him on television, he seems to be lumbering along and then I saved footage of Biden riding a bike and running and What television station these people people are watching it must be that the Fox viewers must be saying seeing different from everybody else. Okay. Will be right back with more hot topics..

"Hate that one party is hijacked the word Patriot because it actually belongs to everybody anybody who loves his country's Patriot not that's who I was on Monday night. Some people would argue that you the perfect face to kick off the DNC with because Joe Biden hasn't been his strongest with Latino voters you know I think it was Julia Castro, who said that Joe Biden and the? Democratic Party. Have to do a better job of reaching out to Latino voters and showing them that they have their best interests at heart. Where do you think the Democratic Party could do a better job of reaching out to the Latino community at large. Wow, you know it's people assume Latinos are a monolithic group and and we're not we're very faction just generational generation Li and I think that. There's an assumption that we vote democratically and and both parties shouldn't take the Latino vote for granted. I, think that. Both parties need to do a better job at really understanding Latino issues or American issues the number one issue Latinos care about the economy number one issue Americans care about the economy you know people make the assumption you know we only care about immigration or we only care about citizenship and and that's part of it, and that's definitely an important issue but it's we share the same values as all Americans we want to have economic mobility. We want to have the opportunity in the infrastructure of opportunity in our communities to move ahead and have progress generational progress in our families. With that in mind I have to ask you about Memento Latino. What is it all about? Yes. Mental Latino is a translates to the Latin moment. But it is a coalition of activists and leaders and business people, and it's about lifting up a our voices within the Latino community right now because we are one of the most affected communities due to Kobe and again you know didn't these problems but they've exasperated lot and so despite being eighteen percent of the population Latinos make up thirty five percent of essential workers. That's that's healthcare workers, farm workers, drivers Delivery People Grocery Store stockers a you know there's a we over index on essential workers. Farm workers have have kept the American foods going going all the time and we didn't. We didn't need a pandemic to say farm workers were essential. They've always been essential farm workers have always been essential to this country and the foods by of this country, and now they're forced to go to work without. Without hand sanitizer with very close living conditions. Despite all of this, we keep going to work and I think it's just important that Memento Lupino pushes for change and is around after this pandemic. Even Longoria is not just an activist even Longoria, is also a producer, a very successful director somebody who has taken the reins of not just her career, but a part of the industry that that that she works in one of the pieces you created that created a lot of buzz recently has been the new ad campaign where you shot an ad from home I think it's l'oreal ad and. It's really it's really intimate because you show your grey roots talk about coloring and tell me how they came to be and tell me why you felt the need to share this part of your journey with people. Yeah. Well, I'm an open book. You know people know everything about me but I during the pandemic I was like I'm GonNa let my grades I have a full head of gray hair I've had full headed gray hair since I was eighteen hereditary. Yeah thanks mom and and so I'm like, I, think it'd be really cool to go gray and then at about two months ago. Yeah there's not cool. Thought. On this sucks I'm really great and that Lori Al called me said, you be brave enough to color your hair on camera and I was like, yes because I do bucks all the time I I grew up doing box color and I was like, yeah and and I did it and and I think there was an appreciation for a BSS ability to not only my life it is his ability to look. We're all human and aging and grays exist and they exist on EBA. Laborious had as well. Good. Feels like you're not afraid to expose yourself to the public and I mean that comes with affection and scrutiny and criticism at the same time I mean one of the journeys I know a lot of people loved about you was was sharing your journey as as a new mom are you are you in the? Camp of people who have found this moment in time to come with the silver lining of getting to spend more time with your young child at home you know for many parents, the age gap, it depends on where your kids age is and that determines how you feel about being stuck in the house with them. Are you having the time of your life right now getting to spend every time of my? Life time on my life because he is in that age united school and he's not a baby. So he's not like just a lump of nothing. He's like she's so active and funny and walking, and he loves mommy right now. But you know I had so much plan. This year was directing features and I was you know filming a new TV show and the fact that it all stopped like just stopped. Was a welcome pause because I haven't had a break in in twenty five years and so for me I do approach it with the silver lining of instead of like I gotta get home and Bathe Santiago gotta get home and feed them I got it was like I. Get to obey them. I. Get to put him to bed I, get to wake up and so changing the vocabulary that you use in life is is powerful hopefully next time I will see you in person like a normally get to see you. But until then please keep shouting at me through the screen and just imagine I can hear your voice. Okay good and here my laughter. I will do thank you so much, Eva. Well that's show for tonight. Bipartisan Senate Report Shows 2016 Trump, Russia Collusion
"The news Do. You guys remember when the big question on everyone's mind was did donald trump colluded with Russia during the two thousand sixteen campaign remember it was all anyone talked about and then trump lead one, hundred and seventy thousand Americans die on his watch and we moved onto that. Well, it turns out the US. Senate had not completely forgotten about it and yesterday they dropped a bombshell report. A New Senate report says members of the 2016 trump campaign were eager. To accept help from Russia some of a directed personally by Vladimir Putin the Republican led Senate Intelligence Committee releasing its final report declaring two thousand sixteen trump campaign had repeated contacts with Russian operatives, Paul Manafort? The former trump campaign co-chairman. It goes further than the Muller reports saying he was in close touch with a Russian intelligence officer who became a business partner. It says manafort posed a grave counter intelligence threat. The report says he may even have been connected. To Russia's hacking and leaking Hillary Clinton campaign emails, an operation it says was actually directed by Russian. President. Putin. The three year investigation also found that president trump may have misled special counsel Robert Muller One of the other headlines is that this committee actually made criminal referrals in June of last year in two thousand, nineteen to federal prosecutors on the list of referrals, Steve Bannon Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Junior. That's right. The Republican led Republican led Senate committee. Referred Steve, Bannon, Jared Kushner, and Don Jr. for criminal charges for lying under oath, and this is good news for Eric. When you the least favorite child, you get left out of all the family traditions, even the criminal ones basically, this Senate investigation found that the trump campaign's contacts, with Russia, during the two thousand, sixteen election posed a threat to national security, and the interesting thing about this report is that it's bipartisan with policies agree on the facts but. Each party came to a different conclusion about whether the facts meant that there was no collusion. And I will say it's always weird to see the same set of facts that are interpreted that differently it kind of reminds me of how two different guys will have different stories about how they fight went down you'll. That guy in the face and he was down on the ground lights out man. So Dude, I told that guy get on my face and then I took a nap on the
