"Seems about fair. Perk I'd say. Christian Pulisic had a really good World Cup and just because of the name of Christian Pulisic, I'm surprised he didn't get, you know, more than 15%, but I think it's pretty fair with what we saw in Qatar from Tyler Adams and to me, though there's great moments on the field in this year. If I think of one moment of Tyler Adams, it is indeed the press conference before the game against Iran and how he handled a very tense, very politically charged situation with a class that you would have been surprised to see from a 32 or 42 year old athlete. And here was a kid just beginning his career and in the biggest stage giving the exact answer you would want. So no doubt about it, Tyler Adams, a pretty good pick here, and it's part of a very promising trend. If you're a U.S. men's national team fans, the last three Weston McKinney, Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, you wouldn't be surprised in the coming years to see Eunice moose at his name to that list, Gio Reina maybe at his name to that list, Brendan aaronson had his name to that list. It's not one guy winning it over and over and over again. You got a real, nice, young core that are getting these awards. And that's very promising for the national theme. It not only is it very promising for the national team, but it's promising for those players because they're listen, you win player of the year for the U.S. miss national team, you're up there with the likes of Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard, you know, Casey Keller. These big names, so it's a huge honor, but you're right. The fact that they're getting these at Christian was the youngest to believe age 18 and now they're what early 20s. It's promising science for sure. All right, let's talk about the January camp. Okay? And not just the January camp, but the two games at the end of January, they're a huge part of the camp. Because reports into football America's early reports, the football Americas. Are that Alejandro zendejas will indeed be part of the U.S. call up on Wednesday. He is of course Mexican American, has represented Mexico at the senior international level, has represented both the United States and Mexico at the youth international level.

"To football Americas. None other than Casey Keller, we mentioned its Eunice moose's birthday today. It is also Casey. 39th birthday, Casey, congratulations. Is that 30 9 stop it? Here he is. Is he really? Eternally 39. All right, Casey. The U.S. part through. There it is. There it is. Casey, the U.S. are through, they advance. What do you make of the fact that the Americans not only get out of the group, but generally the performance tonight against Iran? Well, I mean, this is what I think we've seen from this team, particularly in this World Cup, is there's obviously some limitations up front. But they have been really, really solid defensively. And when you keep yourself in games and you give yourself opportunities to keep clean sheets. You have a chance of picking up points and okay, look, the England game, you know, I was obviously listening to you guys before this. You know, I had a clear scenario where a draw against Wales, a one zero loss against England and beating Iran gets you through. Okay, they did that little bit better. They drew again to England. But in the same, but the same result needed to take place in that final match. And what you saw was a team for, again, very similar to the whales game, far more comfortable in the first half, definitely after they got the goal, super disappointed

"Pulled are probably looking at this game saying, man, did my chance to either make the World Cup squad or have a certain role at the World Cup, just go out the window. If you're one of those four guys that got pulled at the hat, you're not feeling great. You're not feeling great at all. It's the penultimate game. This is the second to last chance for holders. We will talk about this a little more in depth but when certain players move up the depth chart or get locked in and they're not even part of the camp, that tells you a lot. That tells you about the performance you saw. It was as lackluster of a first half as I've seen from Greg berhalter and all his tenure with the U.S. men's national team. Last time I saw a U.S. men's national team that played this way, was a three zero loss to Mexico in New Jersey. Literally, when I thought they were just played off the pitch. You could say Costa Rica in the last game, but that may have been circumstantial, but the last time I truly felt like this was that three zero loss. All right, so real quick here. It's the second to last match before the World Cup. But it's also two months until the World Cup. So given that performance, yes, given that performance on a scale of one to ten, how worried are you about the U.S. and Qatar? One of ten, 6 because I think being the worst. My expectations for the U.S. miss nationally are a little bit more tame than most famous. I would say. You certainly thought they would do better than a two zero defeat against Japan on neutral ground, right? Of course. Of course, they got bullied by Japan. On neutral ground. But also, what are they? One win in the last ten away from home. That tells you a lot, right? Zero. Doesn't mean a lot of that is kind of qualified. But what I will say is, and I repeat the complexion of this team changes a lot more. When you got guys like Anthony Robinson, Chris Richards, you got Eunice moose on the field. When you got Timothy waya, who's getting locked in without even playing. Right. Proving how explosive and how vital he can be to the U.S. miss national team, U.S. men's national team team without even playing Seb. So the complexion can be very different with a lot of these players on the field. All right, so let's run through a quick stock up stock down here of some of the key performance that we had an eye on in this game. It's really United States and Japan. We gotta start perks since it is your show and you are a number 9. At number 9 Jesus Ferreira got the start today. Did his stock go up or her did it go down?

"It. I decided to present the United States first and foremost because it's the country I was born in. I think it makes sense to represent that. And you can't spell Musa without USA. On the field, what's it like to try and build an instant connection with the likes of pulisic, western McKinney, Tyler Adams. Can you talk about what it's like to work out how to bring the best out of each of those guys? It was quite simple actually. You see what they're good at. And then you let them do it. That's it. You see what a good idea let them do it. So Christian is good at receiving the ball in pockets. So I'll give the bull and I know he'll be able to do something for example. And western, given the boys will give him space and you'll turn and dribble past people really easy to understand. You know that good at it. So let him do it. When you look at Tyler Adams, what do you think? This guy will hold out that we feel like he would start anyone that comes there with a boy so clean as well so we just have quick tight connections and we play through teams like that. We just pass move, touch the ball. We might deal one too. I don't know it, but it's because things that I think are not true in people style of players. When you're up so that style of play is similar, it just clicks. The role you play in World Cup qualifying was so bloody impressive, but still to me, under sung, you impressed even the most jaded fans with your ability to navigate yourself out of the tightest spaces. You just how do you describe what you bring to the team in your own words? Trust putting me in so many matches in the qualifiers. I'm grateful for that. And I feel like in the team, I give a lot of dynamic movements. I help bring the ball forwards up the pitch. I feel like that's what I do. It allows us to break the other team's press and get into the final fed. Those Eunice moose runs up the middle, big train coming. I think I did a lot. There's something I enjoy doing. It feels good to be able to be of a players and then give a nice pass afterwards. You are an incredible player on the pivot receiving the ball facing your own goal and before we know it, you charging towards the opposition end. When you play on the half turn like that, you can't see what's behind you. How do you do it? Is it like a 6th sense? Is it just a feeling? The guy that's going to pass you the ball is ready to go and you just check his behind you. It's important to just check your shoulders. That's not an easy skill to do because you want to focus on when the voice come in, you know. But yeah, it's important to check your shoulders and you know your surroundings like that. So watching American David silver at times. When the U.S. finally qualified for the World Cup, almost a year to the day after you committed your international future to the team. Describe those emotions Eunice Musa World Cup coming. I feel like we could finally breathe. Finally breathe and it's not easier to qualify for a World Cup. I know that now. I was just trying to live the moment and think back of all the matches and all the hard work we put in and finally enjoy that moment of now we've done it. We're now going to go to the World Cup. Wow. There's a clip that came out right afterwards on the team plane back from, I think, Costa Rica. 19 year old Gio rayner 20 year old gianluca boutier and you just hit in the Gritty down the aisle of the team plane. And I watch that Eunice. You suddenly look like you are just a bunch of young Friends, young mates have in the time of your lives and living out your dreams together. Is that what it feels like to you? Very much. That was it. And it was like, we don't care. We qualify for the World Cup, you know, we don't care what anyone says. We're trying to enjoy ourselves out here. We quite excited for the whole cup, yeah? That was all that moment was about. You couldn't have had more coffee with Jade ourselves. Lastly, that's it. I'm a new citizen of the United States and it really is the honor of my life to be here. And I'm fascinated to hear having played for the United States units through this Concacaf qualifying journey. Bonding with your teammates representing this nation. In your own words, has it changed or deepened the connection that you feel to the United States? Yeah, a 100%. Now I'm closest to the guys. I know just the guys playing in the stadiums in the U.S. with those funds is such a great way. These guys seeing the whole match saying your name. They're great finds. They go find the funding with them is amazing. And it makes you feel a part of the culture. And you remember that forever. In terms of what American football is, you know, Christian politics talked about his goal with this team is to redefine what the world thinks about American football. Having played inside the team now, what would you describe American football as? Well, American football now. So the style of play where we are so good with the ball, but not just with the ball. Without the rule, we kill teams with a press and the intensity that we bring for our partners is a really tough way to play against us. It's really tough. When you think about the World Cup now, it's just three months away. What are you picturing? What do you imagine? Would you hope to achieve? That group stage is so important to be able to get through that. I feel like we as a group will be very disappointed if we don't achieve anything in the group change because of the talent and the quality and who we are. I feel like that's a very something we need to do. U.S. are going to play England, November 25th, two teams you could have played for. It's the Eunice mussa Derby. Yeah, yeah. How much are you looking forward to that one? What do you expect to feel?

"Just, it just felt like, you know, these guys are under stress, essentially. They're in their own heads. It's not that being the case with poetic. It seems like Mexico has a whole team full of guys who are playing like that. And just before that, Chucky doesn't went down the left and instead of continuing down the left, he came back across inside, brought yedlin inside, and he forced a shot that curled over the top. It was a, you know, it was a decent effort, but he seemed, I think at that point, Andrew, Mexico were struggling to create struggling to break down in general passages of players struggling to get a rhythm together, and we saw what became hero ball, which is trying to get long range shots, stuff that's never going to really make Zack Stefan be worried or concerned. And that's the sign of a team under immense pressure. And when you saw how the Mexican supporters reacted at the end, they were shouting for a tatar with fire tatter is my translation. And the booing and there was a point in the game where it was getting a little bit stretched, but even then Mexico's decision making and they're shot options weren't very good. You know, it's interesting with Mexico and, you know, you talk about the chance for Tata and the way the fans feel about the team. We're in a U.S. bubble. We think in terms of our own team and the stress that this fan base feels about this American team for however, we feel about the U.S. and we love them, but they frustrate us at times. We sometimes expect more. We didn't necessarily think we'd be going into this final week of qualifying feeling as nervous as we do. I mean, if that's how we feel, what are Mexican fans feeling about their team? Like they are the ones with the veteran group that this was none of this was supposed to be a problem. They have the manager that a lot of American fans wanted. You know, and they have these three straight losses against their rival, the U.S. on their resume. Now it's four straight unbeaten for the U.S. against Mexico, including this one at the azteca, which is just not supposed to happen. I mean, think about that, American fans, whatever you're feeling about your own team right now, any kind of frustrations or anything like that. It's tenfold, I think, for the way Mexican fans feel about their own team right now. This isn't the perfect barometer because it wasn't the team that played tonight and it would and turn out to be Greg bear hall towards preferred site. But if you rewind back to September 2019 and that friendly match, which was to call it a friendly, the tension and atmosphere at the Meadowlands for that game just goes to show you the depths of this rivalry. But if you recall how Mexico played that night, their speed of play, I mean, what tecate or did to sergino dest for one of the goals, just talk them to the absolute laundrette. And you watch that and you look, if you're from a Mexican perspective, they've gone so far back. They've fallen so far back. They look a shadow of that team that played that night, Andrew. I mean, they're pressed that night was, again, this was a U.S. team under development. But the press that night was so clinical, their speed of play was so sharp. That's not the team we're seeing right now. So we continue now 61st, we start to see the substitutions rain, P fock, here we go. My guy, P fock, he's in. I texted you right away. I said it's P fock time. Oh, and you texted it in capitals as well. All caps to emphasize my feelings on the matter. And now we get into the point of this match where I talked about my stressful Ness, my clenching up in certain areas. Now this is where we start to get into that. This next 11 to 12, 13 minute stretch. It was starting to come Fast & Furious. 66 minute good build up from Mexico, ball played across, and edlin, who was running on fumes even at that point, I thought, really important intervention at the back post cleared any sort of crisis that there might have been averted. I thought that was a good job by him. Then into the 70th, yikes, a near penalty on walker Zimmerman on a challenge of raul Jimenez. I think they got to the right call. How did that happen though? How did that happen? Eunice moose had given it away in a bad area in an area you can't do it and suddenly max gore in. This was not great Mexican play. This was us shooting ourselves in the foot. What did you think of the Zimmerman challenge? Anything. Anything in there is dangerous. I think on another day that can be given as a penalty, but Jimenez has gone too hard for it. He is, he's gone old Golden Globes on this one, and that was my problem with it. He tried, he tried to add a bit of relish to it. And the referee wasn't having it. And then JJ, the 72nd minute. Oh boy. Acosta, terrain, beautiful.

"I thought this was, you know, I was talking before about sloppiness from Mexico. It just felt like they were pressing in certain situations. Chucky lozano, I think really highly of him. I really think he's a great player. I love watching him play. They're on the counter. Seems like they have numbers. Just really poor from him. They had numbers in space. You know, he has guys running. I think it was three on three with a fourth Mexican player charging from behind. And instead of kind of holding it up and letting it develop, fires one from about 22 yards out, it's a weak dribbler, Stefan has no problem with it. Just, it just felt like, you know, these guys are under stress, essentially. They're in their own heads. It's not that being the case with poetic. "And i would say why not all over nine. Because he's he has this kills and he needs to prove that he has a hunger to it as well. He's a very very i would love to agree because i'm a huge fan of the hotel. And i've seen what he's done it leeann achievers and seventy say he didn't score goals last year. What's because he didn't have the service he didn't have the players around him when he was at laon and he had said service. He scored plenty of goals. The issue with him right now is his health. He's not proven to be healthy in the last two seasons. If it can be healthy stay on the field with michel who's a very very offensive coach and get opportunities. I have no doubt he will score goals because he streaked like that but nine and a half is a big number especially for a young player young mexican player who's never played abroad. I would love for him. i just don't see it. I'm taking the under very well. We'll leave it there. spending cut. Thanks so much for your time you can catch our man on okay again available right here in spanish on. Espn plus we mentioned and you can see them in the league lifter. Friday two thirty pm eastern time. Taking on eunice moose's valencia. It's not every day on this show. At least that we get to talk to a major league soccer owner. I'd either heavy hitters. But when we got a chance to talk to mark wilf the new owner of orlando city and major league soccer and orlando pride of the n. w. sell. We jumped at it. Here's the best from that. Sit down thrilled. To be joined. By mark will new majority owner orlando city and major league. Soccer in orlando pride and the nws sell mark. Welcome to the show and welcome to the crazy world of american soccer ownership ready for it. I am ready ready to go very well. So look every day you wake up and you've got a lot of money and i'm sure there are a lot of investment opportunities in front of you. Why soccer why now. Well great believers in the sport of soccer. Personally i'm a. I'm a soccer dad. Four times over so. I know about the great game but watching it of course over the years just knowing how sports can bring a community together. being involved the vikings the last seventeen seasons we know what a great asset it is for community and just being around the game. We were minority owners in nashville for a couple of years. We've seen what the mls has done. And we just see the growth potential world cup coming up in a few years Both men and women olympics all the other opportunities and mls only going to be a big part of it. And i know in. America as young people get more and more engaged Soccer is going to be upward and onward mark. I don't have to tell you this. We're in america people here. They want the best right now. Major league soccer is not the best soccer league in the world. Or maybe even if we're being honest close to that conversation. Do you see a time period in the not too distant future where. Mls will be among the top leagues in the world. I really do. I mean that's why we're here. That's why we're investing. It's investing in the future so there's no reason why not as the game grows as viewership grows as engagement grows but part of that is in part of why we're impressed is about investment. We've been very impressed with the ownership around the table in mls and it's going to take a continued investment in this business to make it grow and whether it's media whether it's the fan experience at these games which is by the way anyone on this who's listening who hasn't been to anomalous game or even if they have make sure you bring your friends to the games because they're super exciting their party atmosphere and it's something that i think as people get more and more exposed to it will just keep growing. I'm glad you talk about investment because when you talk about the best leagues then obviously you're going to have to have the best players. One of the main features of mls right now is a pretty restrictive on a global scale salary cap. Do you see a future where that salary cap is loosened in order for owners like yourself to go out and bring the best players in the world of this league. Well what we like about the approach here is that it's not just target practice in terms of acquisitions it's about building the game so that the league becomes more and more stable and on a step-by-step basis. We can get to that level. It's not going to happen overnight. We realize that but it's going to take investment in the sport to help it grow so those salaries can increase in the ability to compete on those global markets can increase as well but we as ownership or committed to investing in youth soccer investing in the transfer market where it's helpful and to grow the game that way and i have full confidence. We're going to step up every single day. One let's say factor that american soccer doesn't have right now is open system promotion relegation. We do see it over in europe. It's a big part of the sporting culture of the game of the beautiful game. The world's game the response that we always get. Here's we'll mls owners would never go for that. They wouldn't want to risk their investments. Do you see any potential from promotion and relegation for that risk for you and other owners and.

Mls players you'd make a point of it let me Okay so let me just make a point for some of the gold cup guys that we've left out and kind of you've you've picked over them you got eunice moose over sebastian legit. You know who doesn't have unicef over. Sebastian berhalter yes because he had them both available for the nation's league final one of them played the other didn't correct. You got brian reynolds bro. With one cap over reggie. Canon again educated. A player that played in the nation's the final. Just let them and that you're stretching so hard to your layers over the gold cup players. Look you got jesse's artis behind p folk the other day on the show you said. Artists was guaranteed to make the world cup. You ready to say jordan. Fuck is guaranteed to make the world cup. You're asking me to put up a in bt. Dilatory with three cats and jewelry three year. Julian green telling a cost up over kellyn ecology. Dan hold on different position concede in a player. He started the nation's league final. That's that's the best metric that we could hasso for one when it comes to the cost of doing this homework this little homework session. You provided cost. If tomorrow there was a flight to qatar would be honest and if tomorrow there was a flight to guitar in the world cup was going on with tyler adams. Would you say injury. Worries and fitness worries. Over the last couple of seasons he may be a de facto started. This is what i learned in that. You're absolutely right there when you go. The majority of these players thirteen of zero minutes on the senior national team team. Okay and a rosters comprise compiled a twenty three players. That's over half already. We don't have any national team experience. You want me to concede that this is not a c team. Do the law of averages yourself look at the eighty team you could probably sebastian legit. When all these european players are there. Maybe is coming off the bench maybe killing a cost. But is there a clear cut starter here by your by your own law of averages other teams that actually beat mexico. My final of that eleven players. I just gave you matt. Turner had how many cats before this tournament. Don't look at the final outcome sev- around those guys. I'm talking about legit. Ken and a cost don artists. Those are the guys that i'm talking about. The point here is that for you make it an eighteen. What are we doing here. Not of the eleven players half of them are arab players. That doesn't make it a c team. It may not be an eighteen at somewhere in between which is a be the bottom line. Here is the bottom line. Here is what westminster where you went to school. Donate shots at my college. I won't take shots at yours. Look the bottom line is that we're yes thank you. She did point of view of the bottom line here. Is we're arguing semantics. It's very very petty and small. The difference mutates seating if you're a mexico fan whether you're eighteen lost to a team or seating really shouldn't matter that much it's humiliating either way. It's a huge embarrassed from a fan perspective. So what. I'm curious as to know from you is. Why do you think this like struck. Such a core because i'm not on twitter as much as you still people.
