"Look if i had my druthers. We abolish the filibuster. We expand the courts but ultimately. I think it's just about pressure. You know I know president biden. A recently met with a joe manchin and kristen cinema. I'm this is what you know myself. Another progressives have been looking for calling on for a long time from to the full weight of the presidency toledo members to stop being obstructionists in in. Let me just say something about that. Because i think progressives are unfairly Vilify marginalized and characterizes being obstructionist. And we're the ones that keep sitting at the table and we're the ones that organizing and keep mobilizing to advance this president's agenda to advance a progressive agenda which is the people's agenda rove way to get him settled law. This is you know. Eighty percent of americans. Don't want overturn. i don't know if you all remember. Dr kenneth etling. I had a swear dedicated to him. Before i left the boston. City council shout out to just guitar under my former chief of staff who worked very hard with barbara edelman. A doctor edelman's widow to get that done. I mean that was just in the nineteen seventies. Yeah imagine he was can convicted of murder. And we we look at this law coming out of texas. It's a give. Emboldening of vigilantes to stalk in to report people having abortions. The supreme court had the opportunity to call. Sp for what it is. It is a blatant violation of the constitutional rights of nearly seven million texans of reproductive age but instead took a drastic step to advance the agenda to end access to safe abortion care in this country so we have got to end the filibuster. The people don't care about antiquated senate process and procedures in washington. They care about the impact of policies have in their lives. You mentioned a minute ago. That the courts gotta be expanded in. I have to say when. I read these stories with a constitutional experts. Arguing will this is. What supreme court meant this is what they meant. They did not enjoin the most flagrant Undoing of roe v wade At least temporarily it's clear to me. What their intent is there. I don't think there is a bad thing. They intend to either eviscerate completely or outright repeal roe v wade and that's just the beginning. Do you have a solution. Short of court expansion. Which doesn't i don't even think. Joe no joe biden's not even convinced that's the right way to go yet but congress could do it short of court expansion. What protects the american people from they rogue supreme court continuing to do more things like they didn't at midnight ruling that five to four ruling congresswoman..

But i need to make as much money as humanly possible and he laughed and was like okay Well with more responsibility comes from money is that they're gonna start piling on responsibilities and that is gonna come time for the new contract and it's not going to be like should i not be taking on new responsibilities yet. No i think you should because then you can say look how much value i brought to you. If you want me to continue on this i need to be compensated fairly for my knowledge in energy. I put into this future. That's because right now. Let's say you're in school or some etling you just graduated and i'm just thinking like but you're like oh i don't have any value in like why are they going to cumulus much and it's like they're not paying you for like the services you're coming to do every day they're paying you for the knowledge that you built up in that you can use your professional judgment like you're like they're paying for your professional judgment because you've put all the time and energy into gaming professional judgment..

And then for them to come back and ask for advice. Dental stems from the relationship, but his parents are sitting their dad's, especially are sitting there thinking, you know, I gotta make sure my kid does, you know, XYZ doing XYZ. That matters. What matters is you have the relationship that gives you the opportunity to talk to your kid in a way that's gonna make them want to do x y z on their own, and that, that I think is a larger premise. It's not him. How do you force them to do things or how do you make them do things? Or how do you get them to be compliant that behavioral perspective, I more healthy ways to viewed on an emotional level, and just try to engage in the more dads can just engage with their kids in have fine, and teach them lessons and Etling guide them for better or worse than there in how they make their decisions and be comfortable and at apparent become messing up. I, I think that in the end, the dazzle win and the kids, a win, and the and the dead can take a nap which is like the most important thing, right? Everything else falls into place, Annemarie so good stuff. Good luck with your book on written rules, real strategies to parent, your child into successful adult and continued success in. Thank you for joining us today, here on seven hundred wwl, w no, thanks for having me. All dad really wants to do is get it. Right. But I think sometimes, and I don't like that whole nurturing the, the mother nurtures the fathers gather and all I think that's, I think that's a I suppose, if you wanted to break it down into an animal kind of thing, okay, you know, Tarzan went out, and he found a lion cut that up brought it home to Jane. I mean, maybe that's maybe that's where the root of all this stuff is. But the fact of the matter is, is, you can't over think people that over think things even parenting by and large, screw it up. But I will say this if you're a dad, and you're in your home, and you wanna make it work. You're on the right track. The rest. Most of the stuff Bain heavy lifting at all. Father's Day, coming up on Sunday, dads. Get a bed bad rap bad, bad rap. I gotta tell you. My dad was he was post World War Two. He was the greatest generation, and I was a baby, boomer. It was pace college back then in New York City got his accounting degree. And he said about the business of, of going about and, and, and starting a family married. My mom, they were both in the same town. He went to work for forty two dollars a week as an accountant at linoleum company about fifteen twenty minutes where we lived forty two dollars a week. I have no idea how anybody got by. Even in nineteen forty nine but the guy made forty two dollars a week and only wanted to do was just do a little bit better. Do a little bit better. Brought the check home. I have no idea how the family lived on forty two bucks a week. There were three of us. We're living in a three bedroom apartment was with my grandmother. She was the landlord. She, she charged them rent. Because she understood that if you're going to do that, if you want, if somebody's living with you. It should be right free. They should understand that. It costs money to live part of living is, is, is paying for your, your ability to have a roof over your head. And my dad was at the most engaging guy was a good guys. Still you still alive. He's ninety five. He's, he's totally self sufficient, he's a good guy. But I wouldn't call Mr. warmth. He wasn't somebody that would put his arms around you and say, hey, you know, I mean, it's going to be okay, and this and that they didn't think it was his job. He just thought his job was to provide. And then be there, you know, kids got baseball practice. We've got to go to baseball the baseball team needs a coach. Okay. I'll coach you know, and then then my brother came along. And then the next one came along and the third fourth one came along, and he pulled in all different directions. And he left his job as an accountant became a sales guy simply because sales guys made more money they had a draw. They had a commission and if you sold well and you applied yourself to it. You got a commission and all of a sudden your level of income is better and all of a sudden, you're lifestyle's better, and you get out of the apartment, and you get out of the apartment, and you go to you go go into a house. Do you live in a house? That's the way it was back then. But the days of the to, to, to family. A two parent families now are becoming less, and less and less of a thing, and more, and more, and more of a thing is a single parent, usually, the mom, raising the child. Again. This is a twenty fourteenth statistic. Twenty four percent of US children at that time, just over seventeen million kids lived in a fatherless home. Times are changing, but my dad, my dad was the greatest ad in the world didn't abuse me knew that I had to have certain things, but it didn't kill me. You're overkill me with love. Your father. What was he like, was he that way to the dads? Get a bad rap in this deal. I think they do. I think we pay the price for the deadbeats that don't pay child support or the deadbeats decide..

But it was he felt like it was time to put his name in the transfer portal, where she going where are you going, John? Coming down to New Orleans to bother you Matt, you ain't good bother me. For man. Pittsburgh people today and people as well of Alabama people. I'm not trying to pick oklahom-. I'm just saying. I would now I was mad at you just because I was drinking too much and everybody's down on Danny at, at one time and unfortunately, not. But, but I mean you know, I just think Dan, the lean achieved like is open his his row and. I will say this. I, I'm so glad that you call to clear that up today 'cause leaving the building at one of the one of the one of the things if I left the building today, having no idea why you got so mad at me that one time for putting down Dan yelling. Now, I know. Too many. We've all been there over, Danny Etling, though. Well, you know, any lean daddy Abilene is the guy who beat off. And if you remember that shuttle pass to fos tomorrow and other things like that, that some rookie couldn't do someone who didn't understand the game. You know a good quarterback Capricorn about. I was harsh and I never mean to be harsh cajole so kind the I'm sad. I'm suffering from Leah dying and then not Dr John passed on, I guess, you know, and it's just sad. You know, to see people come, you know, the generation of the men like leaves in the forest least fall when breezes blow in the springtime mothers grow as they go in come again, upon their so to men, but it's never the same leaf, you know brunt and you're not gonna get you back. So I'm sad about that. Now, now, don't be sad, man. This is celebrate. Today role having a good time Paul, you're right mood is somber..

"Center dot com hotline. Kevin how you doing I'm doing? Well, my car you doing pretty good for Saturday. Looks like you got a barn burner over there and Kentucky in the the governor's race. I guess it's it's pretty well. Settled the incumbent Matt Bevin repub-. Lucan he's going to run again. But what's going on in the democratic field? We. Next does have a challenger. But you see this every now, and again when someone you know, callenges men will win eighty five ninety two automatically through on the democratic side. It's very interesting race. You have three candidates. You have Andy cheer who is the current attorney general, and obviously former governor for sheer you have Adam eveland who's the former state auditor was acting the chief of staff under shear have rocky AC and who is bidding Kentucky politics of the legislator for thirty years. He was a minority leader in kind of a biggest advocate for the school. So all three of them are currently, you know, a very contested primary. Which is really interesting. Were here right now, you'd say is the favorite, but there's a pathway for all three of them to win, you know, based on the latest polling that I've seen you're correct Beshir's ahead. But Adam Etling is coming up pretty close to it. Yeah. So in a lot of ways it's kind of like, you know, that team or basketball team where the jump out to lead and instead of going on that momentum that you know, the proceeding pain kind of rested on its laurels. And now they're trying to hold on. You know, you have a month and a half left to the primary. So they're just trying to hold on for dear life listeners here. The best way I can compare. It is Adam eveland people are locked of like Bernie Sanders people they have the energy, they're young. And they almost started a little too late. Just like Bernie, all the quote, unquote. You know, people were already back here. And now, you know brassieres and adult fight but forget about rocky. So if you look at twenty fifteen Matt Bevin was not post to win a three way primary race and the Republican race. And Matt Bevin ended up winning. I eighty something boats over Jamie Comber. So you know, if you're and Billy way that you could ever win is having three people in the race. And key hopes for example that Adam and Andy destroy each other. And he gets all the western and eastern Kentucky votes and he slides five. That's rocky path to victory. You know in the polling that that. I'm looking at Beshir's at forty four percent Ettlin is at twenty two percent and rocky Atkins is at twenty one percent. So I mean, yeah. And it does seem like it's wide open. The the narrative to the poll says that represents a sixteen point shift in favorable shift in Etling direction. Since january. So he must be doing something right over there. Yes. Adamy Lynn is very charismatic retail politicians can talk the back with anyone. You know, Andy brassiere is very much like Jack Conway Hillary Clinton, which is to say not why she they have this public service record, but they'll have a long record and the kind of like dynasty type family. Andy will get his, you know, at least forty five he'll get his voters. No matter what the biggest question is can Adam eveland get all the, you know, undecided vote and get Andy down to forty percent because when that the pathway victory for him you've seen he's raised tons and tons of money and his super Pac is raising tons of money. It's really interesting because it's really gonna come down and Andy hall, Adam. In laughed forty five days. Yeah. That's one the campaigns. Really get interesting. Let me ask you. And we're talking to Kevin Burton, by the way, he's the founder of the election strategy group. What are the issues in this mature gubernatorial race, Kevin I know early on that it was some discrepancies disagreements about the state pension system. Is that still the predominant issue? All three are kind of running on different platforms. If you look at rocky AC and ES been the champion for the teachers and the pension crisis. If you look at Andy fear, his record is saying, I've defended the I have, you know, Matt Bevin I've protected Kentucky. And then, you know, you'll get Adam eveland, and he's kind of the further left candidate who's promising kind of that new generation of, you know, democratic ideas to all three of them have their distinct issues any know the pension issue, if you had to say what the biggest the pension issue would still be probably number one. And then probably never to be the ACA. I gotcha. Now, rocky Adkins, I don't know much about him. You said he's kinda young and charismatic. He's not a spouse. Ing the issues in ideas of of AO, see and the green new deal and everything else. I mean, he's not that far left. Izzy so rock Yakin's is oh you Adam eveland. Oh, yeah. Even has sponsored you know, he actually did the solar initiative project and less her eastern Kentucky. You know? He is for I wanna say is quite AFC for Kentucky. He is by far the furthest last. I don't think people like AFC are allowed single and how can somebody with those predilections and tendencies if you will gain any traction in the state of Kentucky. For the interesting thing is it's all about the primary. So if you look at primary voters, and this is on both sides, right? The normal everyday moderate on both sides of the political party. You know, they don't really vote that often, especially to'real primaries. So the pathway to victory in a primary is to get the activists the mar- laughter for right people. And generally you see this quite often. On the sides, they've flanked so far outside of the you know what unquote norm right because that their pathway to victory. And that's what Adams trying to do right now. Especially in Lexington levels. If you look at Kentucky politics Lexington logo control so much especially in the democratic primary. Iraqi is trying to get all the wall areas. A lot of ways northern Kentucky might be the crucial. You know, deciding vote really because Andy and Adam will split Lexington. Noble and the rocky will do very well in e in southern Kentucky. Then it's really, you know, the Jackson purchase and western Kentucky or northern will really be probably the fighting back. It's going to be interesting. The primary is on may twenty. I hate LA got here. I wanted to ask you question. And I hope I'm not saying begging you hear Joe Biden we were talking quite a bit about him. In the rant in the first hour in this whole situation with hugging women in a non sexual manner. I know you follow the Democratic Party and the Republican party. Do you think that effectively Kevin Burton knocks him out of the democratic primary? If he even announces, this is the fascinating thing in all reality. All poles and everything has showed it probably a lot of your listeners with a one democrat. I could get myself vote for is Joe Biden, Kevin. I almost just said that I said out of all of them, if a democrat has to be president I wanted to be Joe Biden because I don't think he's a coup like most of the other ones and Joe Biden has the same Tennessee's as Trump. What he wants to say, he's not, you know, the polish holidays in the problem with Joe Biden is the primary now the one saving grace for him. It's kind of structure of how the first three RS. You look at Iowa. I was not this very very liberal state. Then you have New Hampshire which New Hampshire's a lot of industrial. And then you have South Carolina. If he can weather the storm if he does like now and win those finishing second. I then probably go away. But if he loses one of those three or finishes badly. I mean, it's all about expectations. You know that Bush Marco Rubio. The interesting thing is how many people who would have voted for Bevin or not Biden from now. Because of the issue, I think the biggest thing is everyone's always mad about show Bida. Everyone knows that. He's always we all had that kind of creepy friend who nothing, you know. It's nothing. Nothing wrong. They just right actually kind of creepy, dude. And for some people. They may think that's the charm show Biden that he is, you know, kind of that Joe or grandpa figure the real interesting thing is how many young voters in particular women has he law. I agree. And that's the million dollar question. You know, right now, we're still a year away. Really from the primaries. But you know, two weeks ago he was leading in Iowa. It'll be interesting to the next poll comes out to see how far he's are. You surprised? Kevin Burton by how far left some of these candidates have gone. We just before you came on. We were talking about south bend mayor Pete. And I'm gonna butchered Buddha guy, I think is how you pronounce it about. He had to apologize apologize for saying in a two thousand fifteen state of the city speech that all lives matter. He went before Al Sharpton pander fast yesterday and apologized for saying that are you surprised at how left this field has gone. No. The primary, but if you look back a couple years to kind of party movement. That's usually what happens when you have a sitting president of the opposite party and stead of, you know, conventional wisdom say go to the, you know, central all these parties always flanked to before this left or right. The new mayor Pete honestly gained pains right now polling third, and you know, one of the things any race seven million bucks to. Yeah. One of the things the New York Times they asked is he enough? Yeah. Yeah. But the interesting thing is some people are questioning is he you know. Which ridiculous? And that's part of the problem. You know, and when you're doing a race, these activists are the people who are always on social media day. They're not walking doors. They're not donating money. So, you know, if your mayor, Peter Joe Biden, you have to run your race, as you know, you just have to focus at the task at hand. You know, it's going to be interesting. How all of this plays at Kevin Burton is always we appreciate your input. Hope we can call on the future. We'll do have a great weekend to thank you. That was Kevin Burton Kevin's the founder of the election strategy group. He does politics in Kentucky. But also in Ohio too. And if you are a political junkie like me keep an eye on that democratic primary on may twenty first four the candidate the democratic candidate for governor. Hey, we gotta take a break. But we'll be back. Newsradio seven hundred wwl w..
