I've been on the press post as a team knocking the door over and over and over and at some point you got to break through. I think the pressure is on them this year to break through. I think they definitely have the pressure, but also they understand the opportunity. If you're the Buffalo Bills, you are this year's favorite to win the Super Bowl. It's not the Los Angeles Rams. Who would be the reigning Super Bowl champion, even entering week one, we are going to expect to see the Josh Allen that's going to eventually be the MVP of the 2022 season. It does hurt for the living but it also must have been torture for for norm rich to go in and buy himself like uh well. I can't imagine if i was sick. Like that on one. Excellence but simone biles and her former teammates not before congress to talk about their olympic achievements instead they were telling wrenching stories of abuse. Demanding answers and action. Here's abc's congressional correspondent. Rachel scott emotional and deeply personal testimony today from some of the most elite gymnasts in the world to be clear. I blame larry nassar and i also blame an entire system that enabled and perpetrated his abuse. These individuals clearly policies and were negligent and executing their duties nassar found more than one hundred new victims to molest. It was like serving innocent children up to a pedophile on a silver platter. The woman testifying before the senate. Today as it investigates the fbi's neglect and inaction on abuse accusations against dr larry nassar the former head physician for the us. Women's olympic gymnastics team. This hearing is one of our last opportunities to get justice. We ask that you do. What is in your power to ensure those that engaged in wrongdoing are held accountable under the law to see the emotion to see their hearts out there. Does he hear every word about the horrors of what they went through. I'm not sure we've seen anything quite like that. Over the course of several decades hundreds of women and girls accused nasser of sexual abuse. During that time he also treated athletes at michigan state and several gymnastics clubs the doctor using his hand to penetrate them claiming that was part of the medical treatment. He was convicted and sentenced to hundreds of years in prison. Hard questions. remain about why. It took so long to bring him to justice over the past few years. It has become painfully clear. How a survivors healing is affected by the handling of their abuse. And it disgusts me. That we are still fighting for the most basic answers and accountability. Over six years later the cover up of my abuse. And the fbi's failures interview me for more than a year after my complaint are well documented. We now know there was no real. Fbi investigation occurring michaela. Maroney said she gave a detailed painful three hour interview over the phone to the fbi about her abuse. In the summer of two thousand fifteen telling agents nassar once abused her for hours. During an overseas trip. I began crying at the memory over the phone and there was just dead silence. I was so shocked at the agents. Silence and disregard for my trauma after that minute of silence. He asked is that all. Those words in itself was one of the worst moments of this entire process for me. Maroney says she also detailed. How nassar preyed on female athletes like her saying. He put her last on his treatment roster to maximize his time alone with her. This was very clear cookie cutter. Pedophilia and abuse. And this is important. Because i told the fbi all of this. And they chose to falsify my report and to not only minimize my abuse but silence me yet again. Simone biles acknowledging the pressure. She felt to compete in the tokyo games last summer. In order to keep a spotlight on this case pressure that also led her to withdraw from several events as the lone competitor and the recent tokyo games. Who was a survivor of this hor- i can assure you that the impacts of this man's abuse are not ever over or forgotten. I worked incredibly hard to make sure that my presence could maintain a connection between the failures and the competition at tokyo. Twenty twenty that has proven to be exceptionally difficult burden for me to carry after. The fbi was made aware of the allegations against nassar in two thousand fifteen. He continued seeing an abusing patients for more than a year. Until former gymnast. Rachel den hollander went public with allegations in two thousand sixteen. It was just after my fifteenth birthday. I saw him for approximately a year and he abused me between ten and thirteen times during that timeframe he penetrated me eventually at analii. She filed a criminal complaint with the michigan state police and shared her story with the indianapolis star during the floodgates wide open with hours. We had women calling the tip line that was sent out by the end of the day. We had twelve other survivors. Who had come forward in july of this year. The department of justice's inspector general release the findings of its investigations. How the fbi handled the nassar case the report saying senior officials in the fbi's indianapolis field office were usa. Gymnastics was headquartered field to respond with urgency that the allegations require failed to mitigate the ongoing threat posed by nasser and doj. inspector general. Michael hauritz found that as the controversy blew up. Fbi officials did not take responsibility for their failures instead trying to cover it up providing incomplete and inaccurate information. We question about their response. I'm deeply and profoundly sorry to each and every one of you. And i'm especially sorry that there were people at the fbi who had their own chance to stop this monster back in two thousand fifteen and failed and that is inexcusable. Fbi director christopher wray today confirming the termination of one agent involved in the case but that agent had been fired just two weeks ago. Ray did not overseeing the fbi during the nasser investigation. But he was pressed on. Y nassar was not stopped sooner. I don't have a good for you. It is utterly jarring to me. It is totally inconsistent with what we train our people on horri- confirming the fbi agents who handle maroney's case lie during his investigation. What we do at that point is make the referral to prosecutors to assess them because that's who needs to make the decision whether or not there will be charges brought nassar was indicted in december twenty sixteen on federal child pornography charges as lawsuits piled up against him. How do you plead nassar pled guilty to seven counts of first degree criminal sexual assault on ten girls three of those charges involving victims under the age of thirteen the testimony from one hundred and fifty six women and girls who confronted their monster in court at his sentencing. Hearing was the first time the world heard the full extent of nassar's depravity you are pure evil without my knowledge or consent is engaged to my first sexual experience by kindergarten. You use my body for six years for your own sexual gratification. The woman who have launched the battle. Rachel den hollander was the last to testify. Do you have fashioned for yourself a prison. That is far far. Worse than any i could ever put you in Pity for that. Nasser was sentenced to sixty years in federal prison on child pornography charges and up to one hundred and seventy five years in michigan state prison michigan state. University agreed in two thousand eighteen to a five hundred million dollars. Settlement with hundreds of nassar's accusers while usa gymnastics has proposed a four hundred twenty five million dollars settlement. Neither entity admitted to wrongdoing as part of that settlement nassar is currently serving his federal sentence in a florida prison. The woman testifying today one federal agents involved in the case to pay a price to we also want to see them at least be federally prosecuted to the fullest extent. Because they need to be held accountable. This story is let's hope. A watershed moment in gymnastics. I will always remember the stage of the espy awards when they won. The arthur ash virgil survivors of larry. Nassar came from stage left at stage right and it was breathtaking in its four and his awfulness for future generations. Let's certainly hope that usa gymnastics as been able to write some of these wrongs. All we are asking for. Is that when a child goes into gymnastics or goes to school that they can be spared abuse we've been victim shamed online over and over again. Even gas lately been made to feel that we don't matter and i never want another child to feel that way again..

"Waiting on my invitation for nineteen th straight years for an espy awards. I used to attend all the time game. Show for i will say this about peyton. Eli is debut last night on. Espn two during monday night football. I tuned into it in the very beginning and it was difficult for to take in because they were talking amongst themselves and had a great cat. Chat with charles barkley and again i needed to get out of the mindset of i want every single play called in real time and broken down in real time and if there's something on the screen that's happening again this is my my default is a television host who has to talk about everything on the screen as it happens in. Somebody's not doing that. It kind of is like listening to a record. Being played on the wrong speeder being scratched. Yeah it's kinda like nails on a chalkboard but that's me again. I'm a professional host. And i need to get out of that after a while i got out of that and then i did turn it back to monday night football when i just wanted to make sure that i was getting the real time. Snap talk. sometimes they would missing plays a couple times early on but i got used to it fast because they are so engaging and they are so smart and it was fun. Sometimes when payton was put a helmet on that didn't fit. And then i found myself wondering how are they going to handle controversial moments. How are they going to handle moments. That need to be talked about the calls. The coaches the referees the players and they handled it with aplomb. I agree with everything you said. It helped at the game was awesome and there was a lot of crazy stuff happening. I'm wondering you know if weeks down the line if it's a blowout what that's going to be like well. My suggestion would be to have some things in their back pocket.
