"Skip to the backup. When it's done you do take a bath after you. Brush your teeth before you brush your teeth mean or what is what is done. So do you put on your shirt. I or your pants i so there are so many ways in the offering choices our children if we just take the time to think about it in a different way. Yeah okay so. I'm going to give you a few that i have to say in my house a few times. What if it's like. Don't push your brother which i'm saying all the time either. Don't hit brother be gentle with brother. Okay so how do you rephrase that. Because i don't want the child to get hurt but then again you don't want resentment to form and i i hate having to be like and actually four is not super bad about the actually. It's the other way around. But i'm always looking for ways to reframe that so that's a little different because you're not trying to get your child to do something rather trying to reduce unwanted behavior in those situations i like. Here's what i call positive opposites so instead of telling your child don't hit which is really hard for a child because they have to take the don't statements of the negative in reverse it in their heads. I hearing get brother and they didn't process the don't piece of it. Felt that is not only more difficult for them to process. But a lotta times children. Don't stop engaging in unwanted behavior because they don't know what to do instead yes no rather tell him okay. Weenie dad gentle with brother. Show him what that means. And then offer attention and praise.

Deal ahead of the start of the regular season which willing to get uncomfortable with me. You know if you guys going to act up. We're fine but we're not just going to give you wanna give in right. Could they both got two. Maybe three years left on. The i say may because they've got a player options for third year. So the rockets are in no rush. I'm going to give fleeced unknown organization. So all these different tools yeah. Have helped me to navigate through the Times where it really affects me or helped me to laugh it off. Yes Oh and thank goodness you did because then you go on a career they they lord, they turn you into a Barbie doll. Now you with the stars I mean you're just living proof of that. Okay. I Wanna I wanNA hear a little bit about dancing with the stars. I have some friends have done dancing with the stars that are in all walks of life and they're like. Stars was like the pinnacle like. Dancing with the stars I need to. I want to become a star so I can you need to go. Girl you would. Awesome and I, know. Of It. To do it, it seems so fun. It seems like a lot of hard work but like tell me about it too. Because, your journey to I know you write in the book about how people always like made fun of you for not being the best dancer in the grim, and then here you get asked to be on dancing with the stars and then you kind of unclaimed because you did really well on Betsy Moore's. Thank you so much edge. Yes. So at first. They actually dancing with the stars asked me on the season before they did so in twenty eighteen and I said no because I you know I. was just starting still looking for my first single I was very new and my solo career he also on a deeper level I was just scared of being made fun of and of opening old winds and then. I'll aggressive God. They asked me again next year and I was like, no, it can't be. It can't be at is awesome and they asked me and I was. So I said no again like I told my managers on like I'm sorry I'm not gonna I'm not GonNa do it again I was such a huge dancing with the stars fan and even being on harmony. Some of my favorite memories ever and so it wasn't that I love the show it was I was out in terrified of again reopening those that scrutiny people making fun of me again I, wasn't guaranteed that I was going to do well, who knows if I would ever be able to pick up the dances never danced ballroom style always hard yes and then finally just get. In that encouragement to do it when I asked him I I asked my parents and so my friends and they're like, don't let fear Stop You I. Know You WanNa do it alley? That's the thing and it was right? They were right I did want secretly do dancing with the stars I wanted full experienced that challenge in that family vibe that only comes with that show. And so I decided to be brave in Sega's and opened up about my journey of. Being online bullied so long man saying all these negative things is the worst dancer couldn't dance ignore them to now saying you know what? I'm not going to let them stop me I'm GONNA. Get on this challenge, and that was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life on the best experiences. It totally changed me in shaped me into the the person and woman in dancer that I am today I mean, you see how was day one to to the finale a- totally transformed Person Dancer all around. So I got validated and I work my butt off Oh my gosh. I'd you let him on some? All, like you can see in the dancer's bodies that like. It is in must be super super strenuous because like your body's transform and. Training like an elite athlete it is you are racy like and you're on the show with some girls that I know in. Love Hannah Brown. Lauren Elena both. Love both of those girls and I know that you really loved Laura and she's Yeah. Yeah. She had a really good season to like my gosh around you. You know I feel. But so many people that are listening this may be so fearful to do the thing that is going to light them up inveighing that just like opens life up to like actually living fully and. I I love having people like you on here because you're standing on the other side and you share the middle with people and you. I hadn't done this. "Ervin at Aachen tier with one of the most amazing people in this entire city in this entire country. Miles adcocks is someone that I've looked to as a light for a really long time and you've probably seen him around. If you watch the Dr Phil. Show or if you've ever heard of the program onsite. He's just in so many spaces and he's so needed in so many spaces because of his message and you're GonNa see that today so miles a speaker. Podcast hosts a business leader. And a coach. He is the owner and CEO of onsite as a just mentioned. It is an internationally known emotional wellness lifestyle brand deliver. Life-changing personal growth workshops inspiring content leadership retreats emotional treatment. I have been to a program very similar to this miles. Work at onside has been featured on twenty twenty Good Morning America. The New York Times Wall Street Journal the Dr Phil Show and the Doctors. Maoz adcocks has devoted his life. To living into three concept's empathy over action. Love over agenda and grace over advice publicly and privately. He is known as one of the most plugged in people on the human condition that there is today. Mouse has created a managed. Multiple mental health programs personal growth workshops and speaks nationally on emotional wellness. Miles has been featured as a speaker and facilitator at so many events including magazines razzing strong day with Brennan Brown and Ted Ex Justin case. You've ever heard of something called Fedex. He's consultant major brands on organizational health and emotional wellness and is a communication personal growth and mental health consultant in the entertainment industry as well and he's just all around one of the best guys in Olive Nashville and my friend without further ADO mouse adcocks. So I'm just sitting here with one of the in my opinion in everyone actually nationals opinion. Just all around best guys in this town Maoz adcock. Well thank you. I mean it miles. I tell a lot of people about you. And you're just one of the greatest gas which is why everyone shares my opinion that you're just the best. I means a lot coming from you. So thank you well. I'm really excited for this podcast. Because as I told you before it started and when we talked on the phone about doing this podcast you know. Us started in this space. Probably four years ago people started kind of sending me these messages about about life about just struggles that they were having about this undercurrent of fear or inadequacy or is this. All there is type feelings. And you know I like you have kind of had my own journey and personal development in mental health in just an emotional awareness journey and I think a lot of people that. Listen to this podcast. They're on the same one so that all being said I want to start talking a little bit about onsite because in my own journey attended a program that was Sell similar to onsite. It was called breakthrough. And you know. On-site is miles as the owner. Ceo of onsite like mentioned at his bio. And it's just this amazing program and I'd love to get started miles if you'll tell me a little bit about why you started on site and just a little bit about what it does there thank you. It's such an honor to get to lead a program like on skype and I'm so excited to hear. I'm not surprised that more and more people that that follow in that you inspire are talking about this. It feels like the paradigm is certainly shifting of around how people are opening up. But there's also I think it's creating this pent-up demand of a whole lot of people seeing that starting to be okay. But they haven't quite outrun their initial imprint. Shouldn't talk about difficult things in so I'm glad to see a trend and yet there's such a huge need. Maybe more of a need than ever so onsite. It's short term intensive personal growth. Emotional health workshops so it's usually frame it up as an emotional wellness retreat center. And we've got some of the best therapists in the world that we fly in every week and they'll lead people through a four day or a one week intensive that equates to about a year's worth of traditional outpatient therapy if you were to do it hour by hour and a fifty minute session about the the amount of times that people would do that on average in in a sense. It's kind of emotional health boot camp but a lot of times. People are conditioned if you think about it from a physical term when they come in so it's not it actually can work better when people have done some traditional outpatient therapy. Yeah and it helps because you're building on a foundation than it can help really integrate and kind of launch people forward into their next level of what I call stage to kind of emotional recovery where you really begin to put the toes into action. Because it's almost like the initial step into counselling and therapies discovery. And then you kind of get into this recovery phase and then you begin to transform parts of your life that will put it into action you mentioned breakthrough and those are friends of mine. That's very as you said a very similar program. Actually the guy that used to run it Austin is now working with us. Oh Yeah I forgot that Austin used to run it. Yeah they in an is is is afraid. I don't know she's still there anymore. But but this same concept is just probably a little bit different in terms of the offering in the specialty but yeah emotional. Health Retreat Center will take about twenty five hundred people a year through short-term intensive workshops and some of those are private intensive like individual couples or families and a lot of our programs and in another offering it on site that people aren't often aware of is we've got a a smaller residential program that specializes in trauma in depression and anxiety so that one is like a where people would actually stay longer still emotional health treatment that you'd stay longer in its disparate like twenty people. And I mean there's so many like look at all the different facets that you have just under the onsite umbrella there so many different ways to come to a better life and I like you probably. I've been under the umbrella of traditional therapy and it was great and it's amazing. You know the things that stand in our ways. It's amazing the things that I learned about myself that we're standing in my way. Even at breakthrough. I I've heard Santa podcasts. Like you think you come from this perfect family where where things are just great and then you realize ten years down the road that something that you're doing in your life it connects back to something that went on in that household and something that doesn't necessarily even seem bad and I've read a lot about your story and your upbringing and I'd love to now move into. Why did you even get in this field? In the first place why is a passion of yours and a little bit about that? Yeah it was certainly no mistake. It was through the lens of my own experience. I I didn't I didn't think is a young man and then also once. I got into undergraduate and graduate school that this would be career. I had my eyes on something different. I grew up. Playing sports was an athlete and my dream was to be in the sports industry on the entertainment side of the business out of the sports and I got an opportunity to do that for a few years. And ironically when I was at the top of my profession literally right out of school way out kick my coverage and got a job that I wasn't probably qualified for but I was so proud of and I thought it couldn't get much better than this. This is exactly where I've always wanted to be. I was getting all kinds of external validation from the people that matter to me and yet at the end of the dad go home and feel empty story and filled only in Ville tired and feel like. I didn't know what to do with that and so my original imprint. Which you've set off talked about before was a really well intended amazing family as I look back because we did a lot of things well but there were things that got handed down to our system generation that we did the best. We could with what we had at the time. We didn't do emotion well and I would say I always say so. We were kind of emotionally illiterate. Meaning we just didn't and I and I've learned a lot of families. Oh it's so common that you just don't have a language it's counter cultural to identify own and think about where a feeling emotion is affecting you and your body. It's not something we typically talk about. When I got my first introduction into it it was on the back end of that loneliness that I finally reached out and asked for. Help and help was bumpy. Meaning I had a lot of false starts into trying to get traditional counseling in a lot of people do because I think many of us assume that get on Google fund the closest therapist in in set up an appointment and that that will be smooth. And I'll connect with them in. It'll be great and then I'll start my healing journey. It rarely happens like that because therapy is like any other profession. It takes a minute to find the right match often. Sometimes doesn't if you've got a third party referral and you can get recommended to somebody who's already done the match making process but it's a bit like matchmaking as you want. I need to connect with the human being who has a skill set that can can show up as a human being. I The feel safe to talk about it. What's I've found that it? Honestly that was the first step in shifting the paradigm and starting to transform my own life long story but I just I got into like a five year journey of pursuing my personal growth and emotional health. It was painful in the beginning is it often is but I was drawn and attracted to the process that I just knew honestly new probably thirty days into it that I wanted to make a career and it wasn't an I actually. I remember one of my early mental health plans that I had been given by mental health professional. That kind of identifies. Here's what you're struggling with. Here's what's wrong with you on the back of that. I wish I still had. I can't find it on the back of it. I wrote a sixty page business plan with an idea that I'm living in two now. Which is I wonder if one day we could take this beautiful information. That for. Some reason is packaged in Brandon. All wrong it's for people who think that they're they're broken and searching in the something's not working in their life in it is but it's also for everybody else and so I wonder if we could take that one day create a model. That would be make it more digestible. More accessible more people could have their life change for it and so I would say there were a lot of steps in between a lot of little.

Lick Giovanni Irvine and now let's explain everything. Because Isaac you. Oh you thought of when you were in high school middle school younger. Oh yeah middle. School probably key and I my sister key and I would have discussions about. Oh one day when we have kids and Unidad so she was was always brainstorming. Names and I've rainstorm. My own name for my future son and I knew it was gonna be Isaac just leaving from then to now and metalic is we were inspired in Ethiopia. Last Christmas best friend and mentor link is the first emperor of Ethiopia also mean son of the wise and mental men like was the son of Queen of Sheba and Solomon so everything in his name was pointing to legacy. Whether it's you know Isaac with Abraham Isaac and Jacob or metalic being a Royal African roots and then Giovanni is the Italian version of John Von so our friend Anthony Lewis tossing coming out names and we were in Mafi together and he loved the name off so how how continental to have a baby named Giovanni. But it Kinda hit home for us because your grandfather's Amos Jon. My grandfather's name is John the founder of the Church that my parents Got Saved and baptized in church. Church created another legacy for us in our family but it was also Giovanni because of the nod the partial Italian roots to the half yes and then urban because Irvine is his daddy attis or family. We're family forever. I don't know about you but I can't stop staring at him What's your favorite parts about Mr Isaac as great as his call I was I have a good friend named Eric in La and he and his son. I was watching coaching them months and months ago and I was like okay got I want that I contact that bond. Yeah Eric and his son have and so with him and Jalen. They're always he's looking to I. I okay I went to sorta either island is direct contact. Isaac looks straighten my face. I look in straighten his face. And you did it right when you came out of. Mommy did my favorite lever part is after he's done feeding and he wants to have playtime conversation and he does all these different faces. I mean he's like ever changing and and it's like he wants to say something to say this you normally it's the adult makes the baby. No he's making all yeah. I feel like you're Super Dad with diapers. You've got down but nothing bothers me. I mean whether he's sneezing on me whether I'm changing diapers whether he happens to just P when when I'm switching over the the divers he has on his face yet. No here's a shot up. Shot back so he has a cat an uncanny knack for whenever he's wearing clothes the clothes he's wearing and it's such as long as the process. But whatever ever and I have to say like just waking up every two four hours in the night. I'm not tired when I wake up. I'm a little groggy and I'm like okay. It's eight thirty. He's still sleeping being and I'm like I got a boost of energy. I don't know what that is if you will you know why because you're you're abiding by that advice to sleep when he sleeps. Yeah we take a six thirty to eight thirty PM NAP. Stay up until about eleven when this when dad. He's back to work with Mommy and baby loves good. Then you get your time yeah us well. It's fun to but but then we all go to sleep and I'm waking up not as Chipper as you guys. He's Chipper for when he after he eats and after he just get takes a nap. playtime his great. What do you feel like we've seen any other in these last itunes change weeks? I know my so you are incredibly driven and not hard. But you're ready. You're stealing you're prepared ears. You know you. You are unfazed by a lot of things in business in life. And you just sort of tackled on case in point natural childbirth. Right here in the house but is is brought somebody you in terms of just cooing and singing to him. This you know poking at Evans being all maternal maternal which has been really really really sweet to watch. I love watching. You put your face in his neck when he's like a little whiny and you circling and it calms him down right away like whisper. It's your lips in your beard and just that skin-to-skin and all of a sudden he's like putty in your arms and it just makes me just. Oh I just go oh all the time. I think I'm all day long. We have fun fun. I'm so glad we got to introduce him. And I think Isaac is saying we better wrap this up. 'cause he's now he's asleep on the tit. Well I gotTa pull this thing. "You were incredibly supportive. But I think having made the decision to have have the birth here at our house gave me so much clarity that for me. I knew that if I was in the hospital because you know how much I hate the hospital if I would have had the birth at the hospital I think anxiety would have been through the roof but because I was here the lights were dim. It was a chill environment. I got to beat whatever food I wanted to. I could be in bed. I could be in the pool while we were in control and the last thing that I wanted to end so as far as doing the home birth and coming to that that decision Asian I mean we both have somewhat of a crunchy side to us deep down underneath all of this Glam. There's a there's a little bit of Granola really big Granola girl in there but just coming to the realization to all these processes of elimination was great. Because it was almost like a decision made for us already like it just felt so comfortable and knowing that you knowing you you would have been freaking out every moment in a hospital bed but when we were here in the home in with everything within in Arkansas everything to your comfort everything you know set up for your ease. Mind and ease of body was the best decision. Yeah and then to go straight from the pool to the bed with our son just told him what a bond would a time. I know that was so special. Yeah Yeah Okay but hold on. I WanNa ask you a question because everybody keeps asking me like. Oh how are your nine minds and like what are your feelings. And how is your birth. But they don't ever ask the men that how was the nine and months for you. It was a trip. It was a real trip But it was great because throughout all of your ups and downs more ups and downs. But actually the third trimester I think was the most fun for me for you because you having the most fun you were now finally embracing this sphere in front of me is actually child growing inside of me embracing that US talking to him US feeling the kicks hearing the hiccups. All those kinds of things that happened in those later stages we're really fun and just to have you get into that space where you're now enjoying it. We're talking to him. We're singing him. That was just. It's really special did you. Did you have any concerns. Walk into the home verse. Zero no concerns whatsoever. I didn't have any either because at the end of the day. And we talked about this. When it's your time you have the baby? Whenever wherever back of a cat home birth the lobby lobby? Baby the lobby wherever it may it. 'cause that's what you're designed to do and it's just so impressive to see you deliver him here in the home. The way you'd plan the way you do would make you feel most comfortable. Put me a totally. So whether you're here Bali Kenya Japan Lord Nebraska or Brooklyn New York Brooklyn New York. You did you wish you had to do. And it was great. It was perfect for us so then January Dude January four th now for eleven see look at that see. The due date doesn't even matter anymore. The distant past now would like one eleven. Twenty twenty was godson it was so the date rolls around and we get the advice iced to go on a date due date. Yes and that's exactly what we did Except for we went on a trip. Very Ashley Ashley Ingest. In style we suck away. Do a steak ation. We're hitting the road. We hit the road. We went to SAG harbor three and a half hour drive with traffic. We told no no one except for my assistant. And because we didn't end the midwives told them it while they were encouraging of it. Yeah there's no sign of him coming now no sign no contraction then like he barely fallen down it was all of the stuff so they said the majority of first time mothers Go past their due date Liam especially boys choice. They like to cook a little longer they. That's what they kept saying. Boys like to stay in there with others. You were two weeks late two weeks. Pass my duty baby. Urban was just a weekly so we it went away and we did sound baths and we did meditation and it was released a dinner. It was really a time for us to connect and I think that in that moment moment for us to connect which was so it was so peaceful I had a moment where I just started sobbing and I went straight my face in your neck back and I was like I told you. I don't want this to change. I still want you and me because you and me I mean. We're a solid foundation and Dan were bringing a baby in and we WANNA give him a continuous solid foundation. And I just I wanted to say that to you because because you're so special to me and he's so special to me and I hadn't even met him yet. Yeah I think that you were really envisioning the actual change. Yeah I really was. It was the fact that it wasn't just Jamie. It's now jenny plus. Yeah so I think it's so funny though because I've been saying all along baby you know that things are going to be things is it gonna be different. It's fine it's fine it's fine. It's fine I gotta go to another putting it off putting it off putting it off then in those quiet moments that week before reality reality smacked you right in the face it did. I'm like I've been telling you this. I'm so glad I'm so glad. So then we got back on like Thursday and the next morning Saturday early morning January eighteenth knock knock knock contraction started at five. Am and what did you wake up to moaning do it do it do it. You do away better but the thing is you can't do my mouth come out. It's been nine Komo come on do my mouth. It hasn't been ninety one day of mony that way. That's a difference how this is a very specific Sam that there was not the Sushi coming back to haunt you. There wasn't baby uh-huh and it wasn't it wasn't a nice mode and it was like a no. This was cheered like it was it was advocating hills so then seven. AM rolls around. And I'm like just in wake up and I was. I kind of feeling that I knew I felt. He was Braxton Hicks. But I also felt like you've got to get the house together. Mary poppins showed up. That's immigrated for the baby which wasn't me it was you. Yeah I mean you know you put me to work immediately. Okay this that and the other but I'm thinking the whole time I was like Zell this clean. That doesn't matter because all of it's going to be shoved out of the way for when the midwives conwy blow up the pool all that kind of stuff yes so then. We knew that we wanted to go to breakfast. And so we ended up going to breakfast at nine. AM another two hours. went out a plan to execute And I had to contractions through breakfast and I would turn myself away from the the whole breakfast area and I'm really Sh- and I would come back and I'll be like okay pancakes delicious and I mean I. I wasn't it feeling like in between the contractions but I still that the so the midwives it says clearly there was going to be a point where you can still have conversation. You still be joking you you can still have. And we were at that stage but then after you got back cleansed. I climbed five five flights of stairs sideways because midwives told me that if I went upstairs stairs sideways it would help open up my hips. So anytime I saw stairs I was like sideways. Find ways. Open up the hips. Sure enough. I get upstairs change. Change my clothes and T- yoga because I had a yoga class. That's not the surprising part. The surprising part to most people will be the fact that you didn't cancel the class because you're in labor you know. That's the part that's the part. That's the very Ashley Part. I wanted to still go to yoga because I felt like I do a yoga session before he came so that way I could be really open. Loose you're stick into the plan. So what happens fifteen minutes into yoga. My water breaks and it sounded like a little like like balloon loon popping but not as loud like inside look inside built the popper and my pants soaking wet. I dribbled a little bit on the Yoga Mat. And next thing you you wanted to you want to satisfy your curiosity because you heard that it's not like P.. Heard that it was like sort of a musty smell so after I was crying through the contraction because it was my first like hardcore hardcore contraction. I looked at you and they're still tears in my eyes and I said can you smell it. Is it musty. You were like Ashley. Stir so yeah sorry. Sorry sorry I asked you know prominent do Cleaned up our yoga mad and we brought it back upstairs. I got in the shower. Midwives Rides Dula game. Everybody started everybody started setting up five and a half hours later. Were in the pool. It's you me one midwife and the Dula and I'm on my my back in the pool and my knees are up and I keep screaming. I mean there was action the entire time multi moving around the whole apartment. But this is this moment I was like I could feel his head in between my legs. I mean I physically could and that the coloring afire right Oh aw the ring of Fire Burr and I was seeing seeing you know I was saying it burns aren't screaming and then I'm on. I'm on my back with my legs up. My feet are in your stomach. And I'm pushing and I and I said progress and you looked at me with tears in your eyes and you said baby I can see his head. Oh I don't WANNA cry. It was so incredible. Because we're all like I said before all that effort and now his arrival is imminent and then at one point they even said to. You put your hand and you can feel him. I know and seeing you with tears in your eyes and saying I can see his head gave me so much strength. Just push him out and I really needed that.

"ervin" Discussed on Pretty Big Deal with Ashley Graham

"Make up. Revlon's live boldly everyone. It's actually Graham and this is pretty big deal. The show were confidences key. Every episode I gets picked the brains of brilliant brilliant inspiring and honest friends new and old about their passions. And what makes them a pretty big deal. Well everybody. I've got some pretty big news today. My I- handsome. Lovely amazing husband just an urban is joining us on pretty big deal I love you you how are you good. How are you I mean I know how you are just so you five minutes ago I thank you for being on pretty big deal? So your first isn't isn't it. It is a Europe. I welcome to twenty twenty. I have to use notes throughout this whole thing because as you know now as you know as all of you know Mommy Brain Israel. How often have I been writing down because I will forget every fifteen to twenty minutes? I kind of have have like a notepad in my bra. It's like there's a Milky Bra. There's invoking boob and there's a notepad not exactly. We are so excited for for all of you to meet baby urban. He's a little bit busy right now. napping pooping and feeding currently napping. Thank Goodness Donohoe. Oh Hi speeding without you though. That's impressive meets seamless. Yeah there you go. You Got Jokes Kit. So we're GonNa meet baby urban a little bit later I but before baby urban got here. We ended the year with a very exceptional vogue cover. Wouldn't experience I'm so kind of freaking out. Really how could you not be. It was such a moment that I am still pinching myself when I see the cover. Can you grab that can cover. Wait turn to your pages. Turn to our pages. Oh it is conveniently marks I mean this is such a monumental moment in my in my career for our family because it's almost like a solo cover funny you're always talking about affirmations envisions and everything in in one of your visions that you have on the board for a long time was a vote cover. It was on my vision board. And Wow and how cool to be doing it but to actually see. It's really something else it is but I so you're really private an incredibly incredibly private person. Nothing's shanks but what made you WANNA do. This spread with me. Well just to be able to support you and be right there every step of the way with ticking off the box one of the major accomplishments that you wanted to achieve not just you solo shows specifically because does you were carrying our son so it only makes sense for daddy to be there to lose. It was great. It was like this huge dream come true and to be shot by Annie Liebowitz an in and he was great. Oh she was Finci so much fun to you had fun with. She's great in between your pushups. I saw you guys going off and having little conversations. Look you can't just gloss over the PUSHUPS. If you know you're going to be invoked then you do everything you can to prepare so push out. So I was doing pushups. Every ten fifteen minutes talking to her about when you walk off with her just nerdy stuff like like whether she prefers strobes versus continuous. Light if she you know all the nerdy stuff that you get into just being in the industry and being a filmmaker you sort of always curious about the process where the people but to be able to ask her in person and for her to be into. She was great. Well you saw our conversation in the beginning. I had to so as you can see my on my my boobs on the cover you can see my nipples looney. Yes but my my boobs kind of hang lower than what they are so we ended up having to make make this bra that had my nipples hanging out. Because we wanted to simulate the fact that I was naked underneath. Yeah Yeah but we needed to be high and lifted so we just cut this out. I had my nipples liberties yes and so it had to keep lifting my dress like okay Anne do do you like this bra with these nipples and then I'd have to put it back. She can you pull that one over and pull out one up and over the show so you can actually see this this nipple right here is kind of drifting over and down. I had to keep lifting them but how fun. Though 'cause it was fine behind the scenes for this kind of thing is really interesting thing to. I'll always keep this bra as my vote. Cover brought you should have signed it so when you're pregnant it's like you get all all this unsolicited advice. And one of the I think one of the best pieces of advice that I had gotten was that I needed to make pregnant France and what I needed to build community. My stylist told me that you told me that. And I'm so glad that I did that. And then also something else that I found out for myself. It wasn't necessarily advice but it was kind of like a door had been opened was to go to home births round. And I'm so glad that I kind of was was just soaking and so much information but only only only using exactly what was working for me. Well it was interesting because just watching coaching you. In the beginning of of the pregnancy and your first trimester there was a lot of internalizing. You were doing there was a lot of processing just sort of trying to understand who you were now. As far as the vice goes for you. It was important for me to see you do that. Because of how internalize you weren't closed off your. Yeah so I'm so glad that I made twelve pregnant friends. I don't know where they came from the Internet. The I made friends on Wgn but then it was friends. What advice were you given through this pregnancy? It's great timing because a couple of my really close friends are also young fathers. Yeah so I think you know maybe the way that. Hey Eric. Hey Joey Joey Christian. Jeez I don't want anybody jar jar moon Chris Chris okay. That's enough but no it's good though because you had twelve pregnant it women We just named at least at least six. You know fathers fathers so it was great to have that network so to speak because you know it's hard for adults in general with specific sort of like have these fast bonds if you haven't gone through something together but even apart from my close friends that have been other people lars. Everybody who's like a young father is always wanting to give this. Hey man you know just be aware because this might happen. That might happen. Put the diaper on top when you change. Because they'll find themselves annual so little tidbits that have been really cool. But I think apart from all the unsolicited advice. Welcome unwelcome the thing that we really wanted to make sure we did together was to agree and make pack to still be us. Yes because that's one of the things that we knew would evolve with his arrival. But that's that's also the foundation for him growing in developing in a healthy way for us to remain intact and so we both at various times of the pregnancy when it was just like man. Yeah it's about to be three of us. Yours came a lot later but I was thinking about it the entire time. Yeah I'll I'll share that story with all of you in a minute. My my body was just like constantly changing and and I'm glad that I had the support system of the other women because I can go to you as much as I want like baby. I'm feeling like this. I feel oh crazy. I feel like My emotions are skyrocketing. My Body is changing and my body was changing and I had already gone through at seventeen seventeen. Eighteen nineteen figuring out what affirmations were figuring out how to block the haters how to have agency over my own my own body but now boom. I'm pregnant and and I can't eat me. I feel a little bit wild like in my in my in my spirit. I just felt like I don't know who I am. Agency over your bodies interesting because all those things that you're talking about in the past prior to getting pregnant was you taking control of having agencies you could under under your own terms but you know at this point you're carrying in ingesting taking care of our son inside of you. Well that's what it felt like. An alien was taking over for but it. I knew that there was life inside of me. The moment that everything started changing like I immediately knew. Oh my gosh. I'm growing doing a human but that human it didn't click for me until like you feel the kicks and you feel the wiggles and you see this ultrasound art. Yeah that later it was like it's okay that your body is changing. But I had to go back to the basics and I had to do a lot of like thank God you were there to listen. Thank God I had my I twelve pregnant friends to also just yet but even my mom and your mom were like Oh. I didn't feel like that everything was fine. Just a memory with thirty something. Exactly exactly they. They're not as connected in the like. Oh this is what I went through. It was like oh you'll be fine. I feel those generations of women are like kind of brush it off. That's why I'm glad I had friends my the age but I had to go back to the basics of what affirmations were and how how my words have power for my future and for my current state tamp for him and you know what you say in which you feel. Genetics would absolutely passed down in get within his spirit in his system. Too So You maintaining that positive perspective is really important for me because of your own mental and emotional wellbeing but also what you are indoctrinating into him in Utah but it was hard art did it but it was really funny. I thought that you would. You know it's funny. We were taking pictures together on our camera of developmental processes. GM bigger and there were moments where you would wake up. Let's say like in the first trimester man. I've gotten big. I was not that we look back on the floor the end toward the ooh. I thought I was showing showing but I think it was at the end of my third trimester. I finally was like okay. I'm going to embrace this. I don't don't have any clothes that fit but I'll just want my way down the Brooklyn Bridge big active. I've just say now though that I gave birth and I did it naturally and I felt everything everything I feel like. There's nothing I can't do like there's nothing that could come my way where I say. Oh that's too hard right. I can't handle that. I went through laboring for six hours. Naturally it'd be specific. You had a really natural child birth At home at home right there in a big old pool. Don't worry it was on the carpet. All the way furniture remain. It's still white. It's still white but I have to say going through that experience going through the hardship of my body changing having to go back back to what I practice what I preach and then going through the invincible laboring birth experience that I did and now to be able to stand Tall Hall and say wow I did it. I'm so proud of myself and I want other women to feel that exact feeling of being invincible. It's something that I mean. I I told you right afterward. I told you you know in the days subsequent i. I'm so proud of you like the way you handle that and the way you did that was just a testament was icing sitting on the cake to. How will you prepared in advance through working out through eating well through staying active taking the stairs doing yoga through everything that you did to prepare for? The the biggest work out of your life was that it was that it was completely you going through this Odyssey. That was painful to watch because of how much pain you're in painful to live in. Yeah but on the other side of like whoa she really did this. It was. It was a big decision for for for me to make and you are really great in just letting me make up my mind on my own..

How To Stay Motivated at the Gym

"To kick off the new year and to jump on everyone slacking on their goals. I wanted to check in with you and give you a few pointers on how you can say motivated at the gym. So one thing that many a new means don't understand is that even seasoned fitness junkies lack motivation from time to time. Believe it or not were busy too. I'm a moment to two. I run two point five businesses from home and I live in sheer chaos. Trust me there are days that the last thing I wanNA do is get my ass out of bed warmed up and into a workout before quite literally rushing Out The door but I do and since next month is a month in which the majority of new fitness routines fail due to excuses. Laziness or anything else. I wanted to jump ahead head of the Games that you can keep these tips in the back of your mind. Staying consistent doesn't always mean motivated such as a means just showing up when I'm not feeling a workout or Ervin just hired and want to skip it. Here's a few things that I remind myself of why I'm working out so believe it or not. My workouts are not Bandini base. My goal goal isn't to look at certain way I work out because I want to be able to play with my kids because being strongest fun those are two super important things to me and unless you have have a valid reason a reason that kind of just digs deep inside of you that you're working out you're probably you're more likely to bail on your workouts so figure figure out why are working out and remind yourself of that every single time focus on just getting warmed up so this is a trick learning the last couple of years before kids working hanging out with his way easier but obviously with kids some days. You're just extra tired or you're busy or you're just law and what I do as I always tell myself that I'm just getting warmed up. I'm I'm just GONNA do some mobility work. The truth is once you're warmed up. You are way more likely to jump into your workout so the hardest part is either getting to the gym. Which obviously I won't that problem because I do work at home or getting warmed up so figure out one small step and just roll with

David Stern's greatest act as NBA commissioner was supporting Magic Johnson after HIV diagnosis

"When you think about sports that have massive worldwide appeal their soccer of course and there's basketball wasn't necessarily always that way specially when he came to the NBA and back to the early nineteen eighties we can say the NBA was flirting with extinction David stern took over the reins as commissioner and grow it into a five billion dollar per year industry during his thirty years as commissioner former commissioner David stern died Wednesday afternoon at the age of seventy seventy had suffered a brain hemorrhage on December twelfth never recovered earlier on the who collected podcast with Brian Windhorst are Jackie MacMullan I've met a lot of amazing people in my life but he is the smartest person I have ever met Brian I he had an answer for everything now they also might not have always been correct but god forbid you challenge him which we all have done from time to time he was just here the sharpest sharpest mind in a very very sharp edge to him as well which I think he very freely acknowledged throughout his you know his tenure as a commissioner he had some blind spots of you know you talk about the blocks the people that supported him I don't know this for a fact that you've got to believe that Donald sterling was one of them because why else would he have looks the other way the way he did yeah I know that's that works landmark Georgian also so you know he he's nobody's perfect of course but I just what I liked about him was there were when things matter to him like supporting women in being fair to women and whether it was a woman reporter or these W. NBA players weather was being fair to African Americans and making sure they he was so fiercely supported in the other the other example I always give is magic listen Magic Johnson was HIV positive none of us understood it in fact even urban himself when he right before he was a how to go on stage to tell everybody this is what happened to be internal on and once in one rose in his agent months Adam you know what you're gonna say something you know what one of just going to tell them I'm just gonna tell my have aids and lan said home urgent you don't have H. you have the virus that causes age I was in seventh grade or something like that right in our sole so none of us understood the severity and and David stern was up late at night Colleen medical experts all over the world to try to stay one step ahead so he could understand this crisis that he was dealing with and of course you know when Irving retired the first time and then came back and retired the second time and then you wanted to come back when you want to come back the first time that's when everybody starts it will win and I the all star game Jackie right right right we also right but that was that was accepted because that deck didn't count no one was going to you know that no one was going to play too hard that was sort of thing is a one time thing will will and you know that was the Dream Team but then when he wanted to come back following that Brian that's when you started to hear the complaints wait a minute I don't want to risk my life there was and their owners saying Hey I am not in support of this I don't want to do this and and what David stern told was all right listen I'm just gonna tell you right now if we don't do this first of all you can expect a lawsuit and we need that kind of bad publicity the we won't let it H. I. V. person and then the second thing and this was the hammer this is the hammer David stern news and I don't think this is been reported very widely was widely was this okay if you're not going to let him in and we're gonna have mandatory HIV testing for everybody in the NBA and are you all sure that you don't have anybody on your roster that's HIV positive because I'm not sure and this is the kind of and he just he was going to do the right thing by Irvine not because he loved Ervin Johnson because you did because it was the right thing to do and those are the moments when I admire him the most when even though there was I mean his legacy was at stake there imagine if that had gone badly in the attic on rock and remember we know now all about HIV that is treatable that you can live a full life with it but you can't you can't get it from exchanging blind or or I mean exchanging you know some live or or but you know blood if you you know all these things that all these scary things that back then in that climate because I lived it everyone thought will if I get near him and hugs him I might get aids we have aids but this but David store was one step ahead and he was telling everybody you bet I'm you know I'm going to fight this fight and if you aren't willing to I'm warning you these are the things that could happen and now I mean Magic Johnson told me flat out he gave me my life back he saved my life that's what I've been told me and I believe on to saying Wednesday he was devastated quote David star was such a history maker when I announced in nineteen ninety one that I had HIV people thought they could get the virus from shaking my hand when David allowed me to play in the nineteen ninety two all star game in Orlando and play for the Dream Team we were able to change the world David stern died Wednesday at the age of

You don't have kids right away. You don't have to do this. You don't have to do anything you can wait. You have tom but I know people especially women. They're like Oh bad don't don't you do. It's two thousand and one thousand nine and you do and carry you. You girl you take care of you. Girl that was a very land and thank her and all of her girlfriends at all of our people and all of the people people that I know that she has that have fallen in love with her. I'm sure if you didn't know land and I know that you will after this podcast and like I said whenever I started this podcast land is into to a million different things and I want you to check out like all of her website everything. I think she needs to start a podcast. She said that that's not office. Actually that is something something like okay win but but hey why not no tonge interest you take questions. We must be pro. Yeah yeah no I I. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. People always ask me to do. I would love it. I would love it so everyone else. The world would be truly blessed offing podcast so enclosing. Do you have any you know like I said you are person that Al truly look up to not look up to but like look to for inspiration true inspiration Gratien of just how you live your life and do you have any words of advice like summing up just like making pretty choices which is like the land in thing to do is making pretty choices. What do you say to the audience kind of enclosing about that that they can't they can find all this on your website and they need to look it up but you know what. I think thank truly investing and the relationships that you have you know really living intentionally and you know feeding saying that marriage and feeding your relationship with your kids and taking care of yourself. I really don't think you're good for anyone if you're not healthy and I don't mean that from just food or exercise but overall mental health I think it's a conversation that people don't like to have but I'm a true believer in that and a product product of that truly of just taking care of myself and just doing small things something each day that and then just being vulnerable and authentic and being being able to open up to other people your friends I mean everyone always asked me like how do I find. My girl tribe the women that are my like. My girls are the women that I am him running over their house in my pajamas no bra crying because something happened. You know sharing. "The equipment is serve you best for the remainder of your journey instead of dragging that with you have to it's funny. Now says the mountains and things that that i've learned in how they plug into something else in life yeah just mentioned yeah so yeah i agree. It's just like you said balance where you came from to where you're going there. There's so much that you can learn from your past but you can also hang onto your pass and you can live in the past and it prevents you from moving forward so i think it's balances the exact right word. That's what you said balance it. You've climbed a heck of a lot of mountains and a lot of continents. It's all around the world and every mountains different from what it sounds like. I've never been on any of these mountains but kilimanjaro was a heck of a lot different than vincent. It's a heck of a lot different than i could kaga everest and they're all kind of totally different journeys and it's it's like if you apply the exact same skills and brought the same equipment to each of the mountains. You wouldn't be equipped for journey berg so i think that if people in their lives if you're bringing the same set of tools to how you manage your office to how you manage your household and deal with your children is probably not going to work or or if you try and speak to your spouse treat your spouse like you do a co worker. It's not gonna work or so many things in life. I think i do that. Sometimes sometimes you forget you forget to separate things the differences in this mountain to that man the differences in so many different hats that we wear in life life. You really need different tools different. Sometimes you toss out the old tolls and you need assess what's working talking to this child her her what's working in my in my job and what's not and i think that's a valuable lesson just in life in general and in climate all the mountains announced that we climb in life what's harder climbing like life's metaphorical mountains are real mountains. I don't know life is unpredictable. As a mountain in the weather other and you know the things that you can't predict or are caused people in relationships are complicated in business. There's always things that are outside outside of your control. It can happen and so's uncontrollable things. That are the tricky ones that make it interesting yeah dawson well one thing yeah. I can't control his who i put on the other mike with me on these podcasts and i'll just super glad that i have someone not only that like i know but that raised me that you guys have really connected to the advice from you. A Class Action Lawsuit Investigation Is Happening For Nintendo's "Joy-Con Effect"

"Was actually posted in our sub read it exerience posted this in our sub read it and it is the class action and that has been officially filed against Nintendo for these switch joy con drifting issues Christian. I know that you are a current lawyer and can give us a sound legal advice with no caveats so take away. What is your take on this class action lawsuit as an official Voice of well who I have suffered from this drifting issue myself? I think it is here's the my my summary of this one. A lawyer or group of lawyers thought there is enough smoke here to take on a case <hes> doesn't mean that there is actual fire but they're like hey we're willing to do this. They're probably on a contingency fee basis so if a class action is successful the lawyers get a whole lot of money while each individual user gets very little <hes> but they exist so that cases that only affect a large group of individuals a little bit can go to court because otherwise otherwise I would never soon Nintendo for the twenty dollars of my broken joy con- like I want it spend the hundreds of thousand dollars of litigation so that's why it exists so some Group of lawyers think there's enough year to bring suit <hes> and I think the real story story unfortunately it is going to happen when this case ends. That's what we'll get. The juicy stuff out of this is if this case actually goes to court in this discovery in we get to see documents in emails from Nintendo how they're aware Ervin what happened how they tried to fix it if it was a known ship -able and things like that that's interesting stuff comes out right now. Unfortunately I think it's a yeah my joy Khan doesn't work either and I think that's kind of all we know <hes> it will likely if I had to predict either settle out of court or be dismissed for some reason that Nintendo brings before it ever gets there but I think there's hopefully it interesting story.

Should student loan debt be canceled?

"Apparently this poll just came out fifty percent of America fifty seven percent of Americans the majority of Americans who've already paid off their student loan debt support Elizabeth Warren's plan. Yeah. Because why would you take that away? Why would you take that opportunity away from someone just because like I didn't get forgiveness? Yeah. I mean, I just think about people I know who are super saddled with student loan debt who also did not make it through college and actually get that degree. Off something. Yeah. My boyfriend did not get the diploma. But he's still oh that Jude name. So he went like most of the way. And. Yeah. And if you're I mean, like what good for you to to to believe, tiffs, whatever. But it'd be different. But I think about all of the students with kids with parents. They might be taking care of just like all kinds of scenarios people who might be coming from family situations where they don't have any sort of safety net whatsoever. Just this like fly by night. Like don't have the safety net too. Like do apprentice type jobs, low very, very low low wages and don't have the resources to get to the city where there are fleabag apartment. Right. I mean, you know, there's just so many factors here that like a little institutional support. Right. Could go a long way.

Democrats demand full Mueller report

"One of the all-time great lines in congress, one of the all-time great lines in the modern history of Washington is the fake humble brag. I'm just a country lawyer. It was Senator Sam Ervin. The guy who led the investigative committee in the US Senate that looked into Watergate he was an experienced Senator. He was a Harvard trained lawyer. There was nothing simple about him at all. But he would do this thing he would turn on this folksy country lawyer humble thing as a prologue to his most devastating to the point questions. Now, I'm just a country lawyer, but like walk me through this. Sam Ervin is the one who started that during Watergate, and you hear members of congress now use it all the time. It is Sam Ervin that they're referencing. But usually it means they're about to say something pretty good today. It was Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal. Turn with. The whole I'm just a country lawyer trip. Now, we have gotten from the attorney general of the United States. We have been so fortunate to receive. A summary of the report, you know, who's beginning to say that report is inaccurate and unfair. The Muller came is beginning to say, you didn't do Justice to our report you can provide the findings and evidence. Now, I'm I'm just a country lawyer from Connecticut. But I can tell you the law is pretty clear there is no executive privilege. Congress deserves that full report. And so do the American people you pay for it, you deserve it. The full Muller report released the full Muller report, Richard Blumenthal. Speaking in washing today at one of the several hundred protests that happens around the country today this afternoon and the evening protests calling for the release of the Muller reports thirteen days now since it was completed by Robert Muller and handed in to the office of Trump's newly appointed attorney general, and it hasn't been seen since there were protests today in Washington DC there were protests in New York City, good size protests in New York City. There were protests in Chicago and Philadelphia and Raleigh North Carolina and Albuquerque New Mexico protests from Denver to Boston to. Saint Paul Minnesota to Langhorne, Pennsylvania. And it's interesting these are not policy protests. This is not an interest group that is fighting for more attention to its cause. Which is sometimes what you see in coordinated nationwide protests where people protested hundreds of different sites. What these protests were about today is a real live active fight right now that is underway. And we really don't know how it's going to end at the DC protests this afternoon, the one where Blumenthal spoke House Judiciary chairman, Jerry, Nadler, also spoke, and he said, although we are in the midst of this fight right now. And in fact, of course, he's the one who's really leading it for the democratic controlled congress. Now, they're turned on a little bit of the history. Professor thing today. Blumenthal was the I'm just a country lawyer now they're turned on professor now, they're who was your favorite guy from US history right junior year. He told this crowd outside the White House today that we have as a country have have had this kind of a fight before that presidents in trouble. Do this kind of thing that President Trump is trying right now with the Muller report, we should expect that they will try to get get away with the sort of stuff.

"We will join the AFC division game between the patriots and the chargers. And then following that. We'll get the NFC. Division game between the Philadelphia Eagles who travel to New Orleans to face the New Orleans Saints. And then the racing report was saying the Sunday supplement and Willie from nine to midnight tomorrow night. So that's your Sunday rundown. Yeah. Let's talk a little NFL little colts with Ricky in Indiana. Ricky what's going on? Fantastic. Brother. What'd you think? Are you? Well, yeah, we're waiting on the Los Angeles Rams season to end because it looks like Zack Taylor the quarterbacks coach is going to become the next head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals. So more power to the Rams and does act Taylor. Get a new coach in here. And let's get this program. Back on track. Because I don't believe it's one of the worst jobs that were opened in the National Football League. You've got a patient owner you've got out several outstanding players you just gotta keep adding to that Ed to the offensive line. And you know, Rick I can live with Devon white because I mean every mock draft see has LSU linebacker Devon white six one to forty. He's an absolute stud going to the Bengals at number eleven my feeling is. And I like the Bengals quarterback. Andy Dalton the red rifle. I think he can get you to the playoffs. I don't thinking he can win you a Super Bowl and a guy. Can I believe is Dwayne Haskins some day, and I like the Bengals to draft a quarterback into Wayne Haskins. He probably won't last two eleven. So you might have to go up trade up and get him. Okay. He's probably gonna go to the New York Jets or giants at six. Okay. And what what I'm afraid of is it the Pittsburgh Steelers knowing that Ben Rothlisberger is on the eighteenth tee of his career what one year max to me probably next year. Really should be it for Ben. They could definitely trade Antonio Brown because he is absolutely fallen out of favor with that franchise. Get a first round pick for him and use those picks to move up and take twain Haskins and. A whole bunch of Buckeye fans will become Steeler fans. No doubt. If that happens. So Ricky, and I know you're looking forward to baseball season, brother. So am I we're gonna talk who's going to be the reds center fielder? You got any predictions for me? Right now. Right. Well, I'm gonna put my chips to the middle of the table. And I'm gonna take Philip Ervin. Let's give him a chance and brother, we will talk soon. Appreciate the call from Valparaiso, Indiana, man. You are the man. Thanks so much Rik in Valparaiso Brandon's in Indianapolis, Brandon. What is going on paychecks for a little bit disappointed with I'm disappointed with the I like the Bengals stupid. I'm a colts fan. And what? Yeah. That was disappointing. They just couldn't generate anything and this this could be at for Adam venit, Terry. It is. I think it is what he's had a great career. You know? But I I don't know if it's the weather had an impact, you know. But I think Kansas City now takes I mean, I don't know if they can beat nor I could be wrong. You don't want everyone account New England out. But I thought we had a chance trickster, and I think a lot of people giving the colts a chance because. Defense is effective. But today, I think they just showed what they are about. You know, I think whoever has to go there. It's going to be hard for if it is New England or the chargers, but you never wanna Brady out. But I don't know. I think this year the chiefs get that stick it to them just kind of a morbid sense of if the New England wins tomorrow to have them get run out of the gym at Arrowhead. I would love it. Sorry. New England Patriots fans, but van I am tired of them in the in the AFC title game. I I am to see it as far as as far as the Bengals go. I I hope I hope they get the right coach. You know? I, you know, I mean, you know, the the Rams seasons. Don't go one. In hope. I wish the best for Marvin. I think he was a nice guy and all time for a change. But with the quarterback situation you were talking about Dwayne Haskins if the Bengals could draft him somehow cut me, they tried the read rightful or. Kind of like an AJ McCarron type deal if he would he would tutor Dwayne Haskins for a year and then Andy move on and make bigger dollars. Elsewhere. He would be trae trading. Yeah. He could he's like Alex Smith he could make a bunch of money elsewhere. But but the, but but groom Dwayne Haskins free year Dwayne takes over and twenty twenty. Andy Dalton moves on. I don't want to hear about what you're saying. Is you don't think doll the guy that can get you over the hump and away? Correct. Yeah. I think it probably win you a playoff game. I don't think you can get you to a Super Bowl and other that great guy. He's a good career. He's a good player. But I need an impact player taking snaps. As far as you say real quick. I know you won't get so much time as far as you see. Because were going on. 'cause I mean with not follow Butler, and because I'm from here. But. Did listen to you? See I don't think there's good as last year with oh, look who all you lost. But obviously football game tonight. But I did hear Macron's comment. He was not happy. But I think they're going to be okay. I guess against they're still NCWA. You probably know more about fourteen in three, and this is a very balanced deeper American athletic conference, and I'm loving the fact that Wichita states in there, and it's bringing back memories of the old Missouri valley when I was a kid, and that was the best conference in the land. And Brandon I gotta run man. Thanks. Yeah. Baby. I mean, I think so I really do. Yeah. They're starting to find themselves in just a huge boost to beat to beat Georgetown into comeback. Like they did. Thanks so much. I appreciate it. And I want to talk a little Cincinnati Reds when we return who is going to play center field for this club. And I wanna talk a little bit of the lineup one through eight man. Yeah. When we return

Twitter Loses Users Again As It Purges Fake Accounts

"Millions of Americans students lack access to technology. They need to succeed in a digital world. Verizon innovative learning has provided free technology free internet access and hands on learning experiences to help give resource students the education they deserve. And the results are nothing. Short of amazing students show improvements in math and reading and they're more engaged in school for Reisen. Innovative learning has helped over a million kids today. Eight and they'll help two million more by twenty twenty one. Learn more at Verizon innovative, learning dot com slash W. S one. Welcome to tech news briefing. I'm Charlie Turner for the Wall Street Journal in New York Twitter says it lost users as it continues its drive to purge fake accounts. We'll get more from the Wall Street Journal Sarah needle men, I Harrison top tech headlines. Twitter was among a handful of technology companies posting quarterly results Thursday, although it lost users at swung to a quarterly profit and boosted revenue as it extracted more add revenue out of existing users. Investors were especially keen to find out how a couple of FANG stocks did on the earnings front late Thursday, Amazon dot com. Had quarterly earnings hit nearly three billion dollars. It's fourth straight quarter. Topping a billion, but Amazon's revenue came up short as did it sales forecast for the holiday season Google's parent. Alphabet said it's quarterly earnings rose a better than expected thirty seven percent, but it's revenue rose a weaker than expected. Twenty one percent. It comes during a time of uncertainty for Google. It's been fielding questions from lawmakers in Washington and Europe since the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month, the company never told users about a software bug that expose the privacy. Data of hundreds of thousands of users that incident led the company to shutter the consumer functionality. Of its Google plus social site next up. We'll talk about how Twitter is faring as it removes fake accounts. This is tech news briefing from the Wall Street Journal. Twitter has reported its first consecutive quarterly drop in users and signalled more declines as the company continues its purge of fake accounts. But Twitter's revenue still rose thanks to increase advertising on existing users. Here's Wall Street Journal. Reporter Sara Lee needle men with more on this now Sarah to be clear, this is happening on a bounceback day for the stock market's Twitter's stock was up sharply. I'm wondering should we focus more on the fact that it's shed users or that it was able to gain out of each user? I say that it's a matter of Twitter doing a better job of extracting more revenue from the existing users. Does have that is clearly the case here because even though it did shed users. She said the revenue and profit increased actually pretty significantly isn't this going to alternately help the product, you know, cleansing it side of fake accounts. It's going to make it more attractive to those who might wanna sign up. Well, means that when you when you get rid of the fake. Accounts you're having you know, people are actually there for legitimate reasons, and they're more engaged. And so they the conversation among users would naturally be healthier. And certainly that's more active to advertisers. The reaching actual people who were there for a sincere reason. So how many monthly active users? Did it lose during the third quarter? It was quite a lot. It was the most ever I think it lost nine million users, and that was the steepest decline ever the last biggest drop was by two million. Now, this is monthly active users as opposed to daily active users, did it keep a record of that Twitter reports daily active users only on a percentage basis, it doesn't give the actual number and interestingly daily active user growth there was growth it grew by nine percent. However that broke a streak for the past seven quarters where the growth was in the ten to fourteen percent range on the other hand, a Twitter said that most of that growth came from people who use or who access Twitter via mobile devices and those. Grew by double digits, whereas once who access Twitter via web browsers only the growth in that was smaller, and that's okay. Because those people tend to be less valuable people who are any any time Twitter's access via web browser. The odds of it being a suspicious user is much higher than if it's a person or someone coming through a mobile device. So Twitter was fine to see a very small increase in. Those types of users Twitter has really been trying to clean house regarding fake accounts in the months leading up to the midterm elections. Right. I mean, this is what I mean. It was one of several companies that really got in trouble over this. Right. I'm this has been the trend for social media companies to purge themselves of fakes accounts and improve their credibility among us, Ervin advertisers. And so we certainly saw what happened with Facebook and Cambridge Analytica and so many problems there. It's something that sort of spreads. And it's a concern for all social media companies, and certainly Twitter is a part of that did the did the effect of your. Herbs new privacy law. Also factor into this in any way that did factor into absolutely as it did in the previous quarter. But that wasn't all it only with our two factors. This time around that were new one being that the company clamped down on automated usage such as butts, and it also had a
