"If they both had a 11 dusky or an Mbappé or a cane, that would take them to favorites, I think. Yeah, I think Germany would love an erling Holland, right? Right in the middle. I would make you better, yeah. Yeah, that would make you a little bit better. I think the U.S. would like Holland as well. So but yes, yeah, but it's a very valid point that there seems to be kind of a lack of that number 9. I don't know if it's the way teams are playing or if it just is one of those anomalies that happens every once in a while, but, you know, the U.S. has been talking for years that they haven't had a like a true number 9 to really take over almost from, you know, what Brian McBride did and then Josie altidore and then it's like, okay, who's the next guy that's going to come in and I'm not saying the guy that's going to score you an absolute ton of goals, but you know, look at what kiefer Moore did when he came on at halftime for Wales. He did exactly what he needed a big number 9 to do. Hold the ball up, give your team time to get out from being pinned into their own half. And sometimes you don't have to be the world leader. You don't have to be the next erling hall and they're the next 11 dossi, but be that guy that can do that role for your team and help you out. And I just got a text here from ado morata. He says, please tell Mark and Casey to go, do you know what, okay? Lack of a number 9. I'll take it for the U.S. national team all day long. Exactly. He can slide in. Anytime he wants to marry an American, feel free. I don't think marathas bearing to a woman, Casey, is that what you were thinking of naturalizing maratha by you can marry whoever he wants to marry. If they have an American passport. Says here, Casey, that we can say goodbye to you now. Talk Portugal in Brazil with me and augie. Otherwise, we're going to no doubt do this again. I'm not as enthusiastic as Ella me, but again, I enthusiastically thank you, Casey. Thanks guys. Mark. We're going to talk Portugal in Brazil. We're both going to the Brazil game. Fortunately, I met one of our colleagues Alexis. You might know mister chip on Twitter and he's talking about how wonderful it is. This World Cup in Doha couldn't be better because all the teams are in one place. And if you go and watch multiple games in one day, however, Portugal are playing and then I think it's three hours after they kick off Brazil are playing. So we're going to have to watch Portugal on television. the latest? What is your vibe now in terms of Portugal and where they are? And let's see if you can answer without mentioning you know who. Yeah, no. Unavailable obviously that. I do think he's a lost to support, 'cause I think I've seen a bit of Portugal this year. I saw them in the playoffs and I think they have got a very good squad. They've got depth at the back that got very good defenders. They got good goalkeepers. I think we'd feel, you know, people have been under silver, bring up Fernández. They are a strong team, a strong team of depth, but I do think that the one person we're not supposed to mention could actually be their weakness. But I think they have become. Problematic for them. Yeah, in a way that they don't of the other option to carry the loader to share the load of the big man we're not supposed to talk about. I think let's get to the Cristiano Ronaldo at times. I think he's been Portugal's talisman for ten 12 years. But he's now, I think he's holding them back. I think if Ronaldo was 12 years old, 12 years on the rest, yeah. He's been there. He was there Euro 2004. Yeah, but that Lewis vehicle that people like that. Was it carrying the team? The point is, I think, I think Ronaldo is now a hint marva hindrance and helps Portugal because he isn't the player he was. We know that and I think if he was to have this last minute hamstring strain or something, it might actually help Portugal with all the players to actually play as a team rather than play for him. And I do think when I have some Portugal as well, I think there's an issue that Fernando Santos hasn't quite addressed in the sense that Bruno Fernandes, Christiana Ronaldo Bernardo Silva don't really work together three. And I think if I was at that equation, you get more out of Bruno Fernando and you get more up and out of silver. It's remarkable how you haven't even mentioned the 100 million pound man. Raphael layout in this conversation. Rafael Felix, you know, there's no shortage. You know my views on ja Felix until you do it consistently. You can't just be you're not a child anymore. You're 23 24 years old. I'd have no problem with leaving him out and you use them as some kind of subtle thing. To have, isn't it? That's the depth they've got up front second options. They've got very good players. Yeah, no, but we can all rattle off players, but the point is, he's almost like a fictional player. He's a guy who costs a lot of money a few years ago, comes on recently he's had a couple of good appearances off the bench. But I don't see how you can trust y'all FedEx for the national team, right? When I look at sort of the front four, if you will, my automatic choices are Bernardo Silva and Rafael. Cristiano is fit. And then you see how things shape up around them. When you do have options, like you said. But

"Watch hot matches on each match day. Here we have some in death Premier League previews and predictions for the most awaited games on match day 15. Let's see what will happen to the top teams of the 2022 23 season Manchester City versus Fulham on November 5th. Opening the Premier League previews this week is the highly awaited match between Manchester City versus Fulham this Saturday. Manchester City may welcome the injured striker erling Holland back in the upcoming game against Fulham. Last Saturday, Holland's fantastic start in the Premier League was cut short due to a foot injury. Without their top goal scorer, the Premier League champions only ground out a one to zero win over Leicester in their earlier match. In their previous ten home games, Manchester City scored at least three goals each. That said, it was predominantly thanks to Holland's firepower, whereas the other teammates were just playing the support roles meanwhile, full and remains a surprise gift of the Premier League. With a weekend draw at home to Everton, they received an extra 8 points and reached the 7th spot in the standings. The cottagers have conceded 11 goals out of their previous 5 away league games, and they have 19 points up to now. And their run is showing no signs of slowing down yet. On the other side, the sky blues have scored 27 goals at home this season and hope to rock the Premier League table with the comeback of their top scorer. Beyond that, given their victories over Fulham in 12 past games, including a four to one triumph in the FA Cup back in February, most football enthusiasts would predict relegation of the cottagers in the 2022 to 23 Premier League not to mention the team fell back down to the championship without creating much of an impression in their last two seasons. It seems the winner of the upcoming man city versus Fulham match will be Manchester City and the predicted score is four to one.

"All right, enough barsa and enough injury. How about some quick hits instead? Let's go. Mattress city hammer Copenhagen 5 nail but Jules erling Holland only scores twice. I suppose this is why Pep Guardiola replaced them yanked him at halftime as a punishment. Yeah, I mean, I was surprised he started to be honest here, I thought this was the perfect game to rest him. Maybe you want to keep the dynamic on and you want him to keep scoring even if it's just for 45 minutes because you knew he was going to score. It took him 7 minutes to score on his first touch. She hadn't touched the board before and his first touch is a goddess ridiculous at that point when he goes in 22 championship match. You could have had a hat trick is your own goal as well. He was right by the guy. I'm in situ. Copenhagen are really, really bad, and city were too good. Good to see Julian Alvarez scoring. His first champion, the goal, good to see some of the kids, the great again, very, very good in that game, clearly having his mojo back. And he's happy. He's happy again. You know, it's funny with Holland. I heard an interesting description. I need to decide if I like this or not. It was kind of art scene in contemporary. I want to run it by you. So on television, an Italian TV last night they were saying, oh, look, he's like a superhero, right? Early Holland. And my colleague Paolo Kondo said, no, he's not a superhero. He's one of those heroes from Fortnite. He kind of looks like one of those Fortnite people. Superheroes. Those are our generation, people with comic books, and cartoons. He is of the Fortnite generation. I'm so Fortnite, it's also a little dated. But I kind of like that sort of idea. I agree. The way he looks, but then he also has the, you know, anyway, why? I always incredibly. Pep Guardiola said that he has no release close in his contractor city, denying reports from Spain that suggested that he did have one. And I was putting a move to Real Madrid in 2024. What do you think? I genuinely don't know. People lie, people have reported this before, you get a release clause. I do wonder if you're a mean or Iowa. And the people who work with them. And your negotiating this move, you have all the power. Why wouldn't you push for a release cause? Like they did with them. Even 200 million. Yeah, exactly. He did it before with doorman. Yeah. And if you're a city, you're confident, okay, yeah, go ahead, put a release clause in. We'll just extend your contract in a couple of years or whatever. We will find you confident that if we're happy, and we will keep you here. So I honestly, I don't know, I'd be surprised if they didn't at least try to push really hard for release clause. I think I'm probably saying your man draw one, one, joules, I love that messy goal, and I assume you did too. Oh man, I was doing the gochujang which is an English television here. And it was one of my game and I was about to talk about most of the city. And I was watching the two screens on the show and then Messi neyman and papi did this triangle of love, triangle of magic, triangle of happiness, but I'm going to have anything you want and he finished it with that incredible shot at a time where PSG were under pressure because Benfica started to begin really well and could by then have been tuning up easily. You saw the best of PhD in that goal. And some of the things they did in the second half were through they had a good control over the second half, but then a lot of the things that they still need to work on because defensively, they were unbalanced, they were far too exposed again and Benfica had four big chances that are really, really good. They're very much not on the messy goal with the finish. So I was at Chelsea last night and they showed it on the big screen. And I'm like, oh wow, that reminds me of the goal that that finish reminds me of like Massey's finish against. And then I was thinking to myself, I'm like, I've seen messy hundred gold. Like hundreds of times. That's what happens when you score that many goals. There will be things start to repeat. Season is having so far. Liverpool has switched to a two man midfield and be rangers tunnel, gab is this the way forward for club, it was just a one off. Let me bring you two now two set pieces. Obviously, rangers are what they are. And I don't think it was something where you look at it and say, oh, Liverpool should have won 6 or 7. Not at all. Not at all. They had a lot of chances. They also had that at the end, rangers tried to nearly got back into the game. They had to make a saving off the line. It looked to me like rangers like they weren't one nailed down after scored the very nicely taken free kick very nice. And then rangers were like, okay, our strategy is to let's preserve the one goal thing. And then make a lot of changes later to try to get back. I mean, I don't know. I don't know what Joe's thinking. But two image view that were reports as well that he was unhappy with fabinho, I don't know if that's true. I don't think you can play a two man midfield without fabinho calling forward. I think you can do it against rangers at home in this situation. And an emergency situations, but this team is better in four three three. I think 100%. So you don't think the fourth three three was part of the problem. No, I don't. Not when you have Henderson tackle in your fit. If you have other situations where other people need to come in and you don't have the same confidence, then fine, you know, go four, two, three, one, play Henderson and Thiago or Henderson, I mean, whoever you like, have the cover so you're covered at the back and press the other way. But going forward, I don't think this is something this is something you're going to do against bigger teams. Grandpa wins his first champion of the game as Chelsea destroy me than three nil, Jules this was extremely one sided. Yeah, more than we thought garb. I know Milan had some big players missing, of course, hill and mcmann and others. I still didn't think that they would play that badly. I didn't think that Chelsea would be so dominant, even if possession is pretty much similar. But it was really one sided. I don't even think that Chelsea had anything very special. They were just very solid and took the chances and benefited a lot from the mistakes by Milan. Bad mistake from tamori. In the second goal. In the end, if you break it down, right? The first goal is this crazy gold mob strand gold and then the second one's about mistake from tomorrow in the third one is Bala Tori, who, by the

"Neck. Just. What a way to go out. We should say before we move off of this Brighton, I mean, what a start to their season this is to go there and come away with two one winners. No, it's interesting too. I mentioned casado before as somebody that was on United's radar, their reports also that grand Potter initially at one stage or another was on United's radar for a possible manager position. On Tottenham's ever since. But the difference here was that it sounded like the united said nah, based on his lack of champions experience. I think Tottenham were interested in Potter was not interested in them. Which is a whole other story. But again, I feel weird even bringing this up in that sort of context because unlike you, I am nowhere near ready to say that Eric ten hogg is the wrong appointment. I didn't say that. I said the problems are that can hag might be the right manager, but he just may not have the people around him to get done what needs to be done in the fashion that he did at Ajax. That's not that's not a controversial view. No, it's not, but it's, but I think after 90 minutes of play, it's a bit much to have said that. I'm fine. Well, here we are. We've come out of the season. I'm invigorated and maybe I've overstepped the mark. Let me apologize now, Andrew. How about that? That's very big of you. Growth. Let's go to the other Manchester club, JJ. Although they don't feel like the other or anything right now. They are, they are The Crown jewel of this sport. It seems at the moment. Well, I don't know, Real Madrid probably have something to say about that. I think they literally have a crown in the crest adverse behavior. To nil, Manchester City, Victoria over West Ham, the defending champion start the season on the right foot down at the London Stadium. And if we're going to talk about overreactions as we were moments ago with ten hog, then I think we have to talk about erling Holland for a moment because I think that last week the community shield and like the reaction to that from Holland's performance, I think that goes into just like the Hall of Fame of bad sports days for Twitter. Like it was the dumbest day in soccer that I have seen on that platform. Maybe ever. But don't forget that in the modern Twitter, it's not about being right Andrew. It's about getting the likes to click the retweets from your mashed up video of mistakes from a clear out of context mistakes from a clearly top top player. That's the idea. It's not actually about Erling Haaland being bad. It's not about erling fraud. As I saw him describe, it's not about that. It's about getting the clicks getting to retweets getting some energy and hit the word. Oh, it gives me the creeps. Bantering back at your rivals. That's what it's about. You know, you'll still see somebody where it may be like, 7, 8000 followers, somewhere in that region, you know, and they'll have a picture of the Chelsea crest as their avatar and they'll be called CFC for life, and they are list a lord of stats. And for Frank Lampard, Frank Lampard mind, whose retired how many years and underneath their right, Steven Gerrard could never dot, dot, dot. And that just gives them they'll get the retweets from the Chelsea horde. They'll get the retweets from, you know, maybe a few Barcelona fans who are of that same kind of ilk of online person. This isn't about analysis. This isn't about actually having a considered opinion. This is about nothing more than the dopamine hit of getting those retweets. You're probably right. But it was bad enough after the community shield that it was a log off day for me. When I saw what was transpiring, the silliness of what was transpiring. It is going to spike the ball in an opinion and I'll spike it on my men city erling Holland preview last week where I said everyone just stop. Stop. The minute highland scored the penalty, right? Because it was his first goal was a penalty. I thought of all those guys. Who get in the replays of Barcelona's and united and everybody's mentions with like non sequitur things. Either in support of Christiana Ronaldo or against them or in support of Messi against and where they go like they call him pesi and Penn Aldo. So I was coming up with penning penland. Okay. I mean, look, I was weird to see it. In fairness to him, he also drew the penalty, which I feel like does give you some bonus points. Hey, that's not going into, let's not go into my mashed up video, slagging them off. No, no. No, certainly not. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. But like this idea coming out of the community shield that, I don't know if he's going to fit this system, I don't know if the chemistry between him and de Bruyne, if they'll ever figure this out or if these city players are too ingrained in playing a certain way, they're not, they're not ready for the runs that he'll be making. Stop. This guy is a brilliant player. And like Pep Guardiola, like other players have entered the city system and figured it out and become great players there when they played elsewhere beforehand. They didn't all come up through the city ranks. Believe us. You want to spike the ball. You want to spike the ball after 90 minutes. And I think okay, fair enough. But I would imagine that there will be teams who will be even more compact and maybe even deeper and much more awkward to get through than west time united. So every day is not going to be a salad there. But you can see that this can work and that there are the components there to make it happen. What I really want to see and I was going to be fascinated is when Antonio Conte rocks up to the eddy hat.

"Neck. "And then the third one we could be gun the one who could be one of the silver, for example. I think what's interesting though is of course it would be a big success and we call it a world where we still have to adapt a little bit the way he plays, of course and I think pep will do the same with the team. Maybe Carl walker can have a more attacking role than last season, for example, where he played mostly as a third center back and had the most license to go forward. The walker in the past certainly the past few seasons, usually what was more typing on that right hand side as well. So maybe that changes a little bit. It would be interesting to see what city does to adapt also their game to hurling Harlem's quality. But it's going to be really fascinating and as early as pre season and paper has already said, just want him to arrive fully fit, rested in good form. We saw him scoring a lot already in those Nations League that are now over for him. He can go on holidays and be ready to start preseason because there would be also a lot of work and a lot of things for him to learn in the gradual system and the way this team has been playing for so many years altogether that he will be you need to be ready to work out. Think about what other teams now defensively have to face against Manchester City. So you have erling Holland right there, parked between the two center backs. So if you're a center back and then you've got all the floating pieces around a Manchester City, are you then leaving this guy to then go step into Kevin De Bruyne? Are you leaving this guy to go and pick over another Silva? It's floating over here. So you have a lot of pieces around Erling Haaland, then you have him here between the two center back. He's going to make it so difficult for center back to make decisions for defensive midfielders to make decisions. Once this guy starts moving all over the place and you still have the big present Erling Haaland, somebody's going to have space. So they speak your poison. Do you give space, time and space to get in the bronze and the attacking third and say, yeah, you pick out a pass? Or do you leave space for Erling Haaland for him to make a free run in behind? It's going to be so difficult to pick up defensively for every team that plays against Manchester City. The bookies have high hopes when it comes early in harland. He is the favorite to win the Golden Boot in the Premier League. Next.

"Plays with a hunger and an element of a player who's fearless. Who's not thinking about the chance that I'm going to miss. He's thinking about all the chances that I'm going to put away. And I only compare this and contrasted potentially with a guy like. Big sign for Chelsea, big expectations. He was going to be the player that was going to put Chelsea in an environment in which they could contend for a title. And when things started to go the wrong way for Romero cackles, you can see a shift in attitude. I don't think that happens with erling Holland. I think his makeup seems to be different. He doesn't need the arm around the shoulder because his motivation and that hunger and that fearlessness that I just mentioned pushes him to get himself in a position where he can score goals with consistency. He knows that's his job. He knows that his obsession and that's what he's going to do for you. So if he's healthy, he's going to support goals. My only concern is injuries. He's three to one to be top goal scorer next season than Premier League Shaq. Would you put your money on that? Absolutely. All right, listen, I'm with Ali on this. Unless as long as these students injury free, I think, Erling Haaland grabbed unless he says injury free and Pep Guardiola decides not to play early in Holland as goalkeeper. He grabs 15 goals of season, no question. He's just that talented. Three to one coming into a system that hasn't used an alternate striker. He had to have scored the goals that they have over the last couple of seasons. I think that's an easy bet to make. Even for somebody like me, who is hard to part with his money. Well, I've seen you with it very quickly at the poker table. That's another story..

"Don't know these numbers. So it's really hard to say, we don't know to what degree there to his advantage. Well, we know that we know that good numbers. That's sensational numbers, and we know they're better numbers than they would have been if there was just one club that had a contract on the table. Was he ever interested in Real Madrid? Or was just this all hot air? Absolutely. All just the perfect kind of negotiating tool. I think I think 100% he was interested in Real Madrid. I don't think there's any question. The amount of time and resources they devoted to it. And by the way, these things all happen in a vacuum. I'm sure Jan can weigh in on this. But a big part of the reason why Real Madrid didn't move aggressively for erling Holland this summer was because they said, all right, we can't commit this much money in one go. There was even suggestions that they tried to persuade Dortmund or hall into state, dormant for another year, and then we'll get bought by this year at Holland next year. And they simply couldn't go for both. And now in the meantime, what's happened is Manchester City, maybe they knew something we didn't. They snuck in there right away with hollands. He's put pen to paper. And now of course around Madrid's perspective, they're left with nothing, or left with nothing. They're left with a team. That's one of the league guys in the Champions League Final, but Noam bopping. I know hall in this summer. And so you have to start scrambling. So these pieces are all connected. Now Liga and Real Madrid have taken it extremely well as you would imagine. They are threatening to sue PSU. This is not ten months after say. What PSG is going to do by renewing invap it with large amounts of money after giving losses of €700 million in recent seasons and having more than 600 million in salary is an insult to football, Al Khalifa is a dangerous is as dangerous as the Super League Super League match in the conversation. Gab a lot of people are messaged and love extra time questions are asking how, how can they actually get away with this? All right, so the short answer is that financial fair play is suspended. It's been suspended since the pandemic. They agreed on a new model of it. And it's going to come back in 2023. So for this season, at least, they're good. And if Qatar does all move out of town and batten down the hatches after the World Cup, then it's not really going to matter. They're not really going to care what happens. And that's why I think would have a point if the rules were in place and he felt that they weren't being enforced. There is a point to be made, I think, and maybe they're setting their stall out saying, hey, once 2023 comes around, are we going to start enforcing the rules in a serious way? Because there's no way that Paris Saint-Germain couldn't do this sustainably. They lost €225 million in the 2021 season. They lost a 130 million the year before that. 21 22, we don't know how much they lost, but it's sure to be an enormous amount because, hey, look, they added messy. And Dona ruma, and Ashraf akimi and danilo, and vinyl. So we're pretty sure that they lost an enormous amount of money again this year. So there's no way that they can be compliant with UEFA's financial fair play, but there is no UEFA financial fair play right now. So that's why I think it's going to come up short. But at some point, they're going to have to cross this bridge. It's going to pop up. It's going to financial fair play is going to pop back up in 2023. I started in Waldorf..

"Because when I don't know your exact whereabouts makes me nervous, I feel uncomfortable. Like I'm not in control. Do you know why I'm not comfortable and I'm not in control right now? Why is that? Because I don't know where to start this podcast. I don't know where to begin. It's like, should we start with, you know, Holland? Should we start with why get the Christie? Could we start with the total arrogance of FIFA deciding, hey, EA Sports? We don't need you or moving on. Where to begin, you're right. That's the thing. I saw somebody either on Twitter or one of the animals on Reddit, I forget, made some kind of reference to the fact that I haven't complained in months about how long these podcasts are going. And it's because of days like this where you just got to give up. You got to throw your hands up in the air, say there's too much going on in the sport. We can't be confined by time. So we're just going to go. And look, this is how I view this. You can come and go, as you please, listen to some. You can turn it off, go to the next thing, if you want to come back later, that's great. So we'll just we'll just be here for you. But actually JJ, I think the natural place to start is in France. Where Marcelo was dropped from Leon's first team for farting and laughing in the dressing room. Which is exactly the story of the week. If you were to be caught from a team, this is exactly how it would happen. First of all, I don't know that I've ever farted in front of you. So I don't think that you're qualified to say this. You've never let one rip in front of me, nor have I let one rip in front of you. However, I know your sensibilities and your sense of humor. You would just love. To be in a locker room, brewing up some rectal gas and see what happens if you let one rib. I mean, let's just be honest with each other. We can grow older and mature in many ways, but when you get right down to it, there's nothing quite like a good, low rumbling, full of base fart. Nothing like it. Nothing. One of my favorites, especially by the way, in this case, when it was done while the team captain was giving a speech to try and rally the team after a three zero defeat. Just perfect. You can imagine the captain's been building up to this, you know, what happens if we lose? How do I pull this around? I'm going to make a speech that these guys remember. I'm going to make a speech that when these guys have retired and they're writing their memoirs, they'll talk about me. And it's interrupted with just an absolute ripper. And it's the laughing afterwards. That's the real cherry on top. Not embarrassed, not trying to look around and be like, oh, that wasn't me, was that you? No, no. No, he just owns it in the middle of a speech like that. Once it's out there, you know, you have two options. You can be really embarrassed about it. Or you can just lean into what you've done. You land in. He leaned right on and now that's obviously that's all jokes and silliness JJ. What I think the natural place to start is the biggest news from the last 24 hours, we don't like to deal and transfer rumors. We've said that on many an occasion, but when rumor becomes fact, well, then it is no longer a rumor. Erling Holland, JJ, arguably the most coveted player on the planet. Signing for Manchester City, his release clause activated in a deal that probably goes down as, I mean, one of the most ridiculous that I can remember, like on the open market, I don't think it's crazy to think this guy goes for 200 million, given his age and his talent. And instead it's a 51.2 million pound release clause. What can you even say, but the rich getting richer, this is a deal that I think a lot of people around the Premier League will look at and weep and weep quite frankly. Yeah, the response is actually being pretty negative. To this transfer, because of that very fact that now it seems Manchester City are throwing off the shackles. So instead of the kind of steady build now, huge injections of money but steady build of your 60 $1 million players who would fit into the system. The last two windows are certainly the last two years of showing a kind of an abandoned Jack Grealish. We pay a 100 million for him and he'll play half the minutes. Now we don't expect this to be the case with Holland. But yeah, he is the big ticket signing that city really haven't done in a long, long time. And not since the early days of the injections of cash into the club. So I mean, he was going to be the hottest property on the market this summer. Absolutely. We've been saved to protracted transfer transfer saga. That's not going to happen now. City have the wherewithal to pay in the wages that they're going to. And yeah, I don't know. There's a lot of people who are saying going to city now is just for Holland. There's almost a romanticism about where he would have ended up at like a Real Madrid. Like a Barcelona and that going to city is the cold, sterile move to win lots and lots of trophies. And I'm sure that team Holland figured this one out and decided this is the place to go. This is.

"With them being favorites With the crane competition coming from wolfsburg and lil of france. it's a similar situation if dormant. I starting turkey away to besiktas away. They are going to be the eight to thirteen favorites. It's tends to three to four and it's ninety two on besiktas doing very very good away win at the weekends in the hasn't been much consistency with the laws. But i do think there'll be too good heads witness going. If you can win at leverkusen you can go away to besiktas here managed to win. This one dortmund have won three of the last four champions league away games as well and that includes severe and then it's petersburg so i really do expect dortmund hair to to get free points on the boards and take a commanding lead in this group which is expect him to win pacific. Tessa foul to win three of the last four european games losing to enjoying one and earning holland comes back to the champions league and he twenty goes and he's i sixteen champions league got compassi games. That's more than a goal a game. Already he'll be ready for the champions and that's why you're seeing him here two to five to score anytime here. That doesn't obviously at a value. Perhaps if you took all in sorry erling holland along with treatments when you'd get a little bit more value on that one you could piece those together. I do school decent win. Or do you think gallup to a winning start here in this up next. We look at athletico madrid at home. It's you pulls where. I fly four favorites to start with a wing hair. They are in liverpool's group. Incidentally i live stockings. Ac milan today will look at that. Game shortly. Six to one on polls zones thirteenth five on athletico co earned itself group here and in need to win their hung games. I think everybody does the team that would emerge with the most home wins. We'll be the team that go through with liverpool again. I'm favoring english sides here because do english sides are very very strong and they will all manage to find their way through to the next round i covered. She's one of their last. Fourteen champions the matches winning nine of import ovals for the last eight champions league away trips. Pull going to be difficult at home. I think now is going to be. But that's the same for everybody in this group. And and phil is going to be a fortress milano. The san zero athletico madrid here out. The wonder and is very very important that they do pick up at least seven points here at the one that that will mean that. "As we sit down and speak to you here and this'll be the my last question is september first which means all business should be done. You guys nice morning in. What kind of player you think got. Yeah i think we're getting a highly talented young player who still needs to develop a lot but has a lot of tools and confidence. I think to be a big time player. One of the things that i like about our football is we take often very talented young players who had big youth careers and lama. And we're a part of big youth development programs and if we can teach them to play with intensity and armand talapity then you can really access what their talent kid. The potential of what their talent can be. So i've seen this with count countless players tyler adams and brennan aaronson. We've already talked about but erling holland. Dominic showbiz lie pots in dhaka. Taki minamino team verner marcel. Salvator like you can go down the list of young players who were put into this kind of this idea of football we're able to blossom and grow into world stars and so that's the next one. Yeah it's the next generation of young players in the ass will be. I think part of that. Go taken up enough of your time. Thanks so much of the chat. "Out of the starting line of the reality of being at a big club like chelsea next on the americans who scored in europe list giovanni rain and now he did it in somewhat spectacular fashion. Maybe not the goal of the game itself. A five two win over eintracht frankfurt. He gets the start he gets the goal. He's wearing that beautiful number. Seven taking over from jaden sancho whose goal comes off insist from his new best friend erling holland who by the way had himself an amazing game two goals and three assists and after the game her. The budding romance between these two was on full display. Unbelievable you saw today Unbelievable i guess if the right word. Special just amazing. His point team Goals assists hungry. Team player works team. So yeah we're so happy to have him and You know hopefully this is just start for for him. And for all the The attackers going forward this season as a five goal despite today hopefully you can keep it going season. Gio raina early the next big tag team in world football What say you. I mean it certainly looks that way right you early and jalan us to gina. They definitely understand each other to actually enjoy playing against you. They have a lot in common. Both their dad's play demand city. Their sons up footballers they're eighteen and one the other one's twenty one adolescent still very young and the enjoying the way they play electrifying.

"Even bigger. And and you know this is the worst thing that you can do here his bones when he's around but but once again he showcased the we can open day of the bundesliga weekend open. We can sorry. He has really defenders again. He's linked with his teammates and he scored vital goals. I mean it's just gonna be every week with this guy. I think is is. I never thought we'd see talk of somebody in the sense that we talked about rinaldo and mason. It's very early. But what. I'm saying that every time you see a game with tend to be talking about something special. No only felt that candy those players in the last decade that will discussion these things but it seems that every document play with discussing another special moment from from a special player. There's no getting away from his mesmerizing archer in toyota is with us and fewer at that game against eintracht frankfurt. At the weekend we did see that wonderful. Double interview with yourself and your nagasaki also on geo rain and erling harland. Tell me a little bit about what. It's like to actually see him in the flesh because when you are seeing players like this in real life it's something to behold most of the time isn't there yeah. I was thinking about this today. And i think the best comparison i can draw is that moment in jurassic park where they see the dinosaurs for the first time. And you're georges drops and your life war. I i find it very difficult to keep up with the speed of which everything happens around early hanta properly understand it in appreciates it. I'm having to watch it back several times. But i mean i'm a little bit annoyed him because his first goal scored meant. I got really nice. Bish shower from the doorman socks today. But but honestly it is ledge to see somebody who is just so in charge of his craft and the way that he runs like a superhero without a cape. I he just. He just seems to fly round on his own access and he scares the living daylights out of defenders. It's almost like it's not coming as a surprise when we see these great performances from erling holland. So what's the reaction in the in the german press and in the football world when they asked him performances lake. We saw the weekend just to say on on how he's developed himself. I was told that the weekend he put in lots of extra shifts himself with lucienne fevrier recedo ovens previous coach before at inter took over. And how far personally coached holland in trying to improve him self on trying to improve his right for just all round element of his game and i think you can see these elements really bearing fruit now. Particularly when he's dribbling. Earning harmed is one meter ninety-five. This is very much tall and tall players are not known i would say for that elegance on the whole in football and yet he just seems to how this moment about him the nabil's into do everything i'm one for. Everything is what the frankford alkaline. That sights on is saying here because he played a role in all five of dortmund's goals at the weekend. There is a lot of hype about early hall and talking about the hope that holland represents here as well because earning holland has this ability to bend games to his own will. He has a big game player ability. And that is what's exciting in the space of the bundesliga title race this season because if earning holland keats himself and dortmund managed to manage his enthusiasm. then. I think that we could have a very interesting season. That we've got a very interesting game to watch between buying and dortmund this week in the supercup. You're going to be on the call for that casey. I mean you're looking at an explosive front four for borussia dortmund. That are as entertaining and energetic as group. You're going to see in world football right now. against.

"Been a lot of talk about contract issues with these players. Yes so it's round what's happening with younger rescues deal. If that's going to be extended it looks like it will be as as being the case with with cash. I think it comes back to hasaan. Sally homage the sporting director and whether he is indeed ready or has been doing a good enough job to attract players to buy. I think that byron have been saying that they felt the crunch of of the corona crisis. More than more than others. More than premier league clubs. And you can see that by the amount that by an spending in comparison but also if you look at the signings that sally how much it has made the backup players have not been the same caliber. The other top european clubs have got so. I think that that's where the pressure is. But also you have oliver kahn. Coming in as ceo stepping up to the position that step down from a little bit early on than anticipated. Hobart high is now the president. That's been the case for a little while. Now but this is a new face of buying munich. It's weird not seeing paul-heinz from the death star. Say meanwhile yet i wanna talk a little bit about brucie adornment. And obviously there have been changes. Though with jaden sancho going to the premier league but surely the best bit of news for them is that they've kept hold of erling holland with everything that we've seen that maybe he.

"Thing about soccer is infinitely shrink about the economy. You can have a soccer club which has zero revenues. You just don't play. The play is anything and you won't be very good and you can have a billion euros revenues but it still the same club and same stadium with the same shots in the same emotional attachment. So i agreed. Soccer club shouldn't have to be in this race to constantly keep revenues rising because we know twenty years ago. When the revenues were relative peanuts they will popular on just fine to write some out i want to. I want a big down a little on that. Because you mentioned barcelona's hundred and twenty two years old. Don't wanna tie the future of the club to this. One guy that one guy that happens to be messy right but there's a generation of fans who don't know a barcelona without messy so for people that are unfamiliar with the club itself like what does barcelona look like without messy like in the past has been this global fee. Nom that that that it's been grown into the last few decades not really messy and the club's rice greatness coincide and is not only because of messy messy comes at the start of the two thousand. He makes his debut in two thousand full as part of this. What turns out to be incredible spanish generation. Who will come from the club's academy savvy on this and yet sta jarred. Pk and the spaniards in the team win the world cup and twenty seven without messy so these incredible is as well just whole generation comes out of the academy together amd between two thousand sixteen thousand fifteen. They win the champions league full times will. That's fulltime more than barcelona have won the champions league in the history. Full messy arrives so really before messy. This is not a great club. This is just the club of the second city of a mid size not very rich european country so the years greatness i think with hindsight will say what brief and beautiful. Maybe no clubs bite played better salko than a bustle. Owner didn't the messier's and there is no kind of recapturing of that era and remember messy as study full even if you keep him but playing in a very wink team because there's no money to have other good players. You're never going to go back to that gloria's and lost yo without him with him. Last year. they finished side in the spanish league. Is there a chance that i mean. Is there a way for barsha to do what. American sports teams do which is tear. Down and rebuild. Know part of the problem that barcelona's seems to be that there's been bad management on the soccer side as well as on the financial side they should've traded messy for a bunch of first round draft pick. I mean this is a team that turned down offers for lanham baabda and erling holland two of the best players in europe right now when they were teenagers i mean. Is there a way out of this competitively and financially for barsha. I mean if you turn out to have an incredibly lucky and brilliant hand picking young talent both from your own academy and what they did lawsuit with Votes him for a basic five million euros which is nothing age seventeen kit from the canary islands. Just play the olympic final. Would spain has been a revelation. You know if you can do that five times over which is very difficult than suddenly you have kind of the equivalent of five us. Round draft picks. That is very hard to do. And then the last ten years has given no signs that they have the now to do that. I think the problem is they. Stop thinking when you're number one you stop thinking and clubs like liverpool and buying munich and manchester city just thought hotter in the last decade. What for you is the moment for messy barsa. Barsa the whether it's a a game or a goal or something else that really stands for the kind of synergy between him and the club at its at its peak. The champions league final at wembley in london ten years ago busload manchester united much English champions you had sold. They might be the best team in europe and they were played off the puck by messy in barcelona the fuss twenty minutes after half-time. I mean i say in the book where the says this is what we were aiming for. This is the kind of football we had in our heads. And i think i am nine hundred thousand people. Even menu fans left the stadium lace at that day we saw a soccer that we will probably never again see an lives of quality and a beauty that even alex ferguson's manchester united manager. He said we've never been beaten like that. Some it's it just seems like you've been preparing for this day for a while right. That people have been sort of gearing up that it was going to regardless it. Just maybe happened. a little. Sooner than people expected does seem fair. I think that's family. When i started the book in twenty nine thousand nine. I will see the cracks in the ceiling. But the cathedral's not about to collapse. And i was still i was gonna write a book about the greatness of the club and i have but also written a book about the decline in full and sunny. The cathedral collapse. That probably happened lost yet and now kind of the angel on the altar has dissipated and this has happened way quicker than we thought but you know human creation is forever and i think uniworld dwelling now on the downside and the mismanagement and the disgrace. But i think we should also remember this. Was this unique thing that they created in this. Relatively small town and people will remember forever. That the suckered i soul and there's no way that's gonna loss Bustling is not new york. Bus loan is not london. This is a one off. Simon cooper is a columnist for the financial times. His new book is called the barcelona complex leeann l. messy and the making and unmaking of the world's greatest soccer club you can pre-order it now. It's out next week. Holland's father and agent around spain the duo visiting both barcelona and madrid i head of asia potential bidding war this summer course dorfman setting at the transfer fee at eight hundred eighty million euros yawn as with all things erling haaland. I feel compelled to start with you. Does this mean that early holland's from dorman did happen this summer and not next. No it won't ailing hall on team hole on and rioted exactly the same thing. When he left salzburg they started off visiting different clubs barcelona and real madrid at that time when i did this last time. He ended up jaws. Once i guess dortmund knows the drill. They have been talked. They've been told doing so. That is no problem having said that. I think this is a win win. Situation for everybody. We're in the middle of pandemic. They are put forward one hundred and safety of one hundred and eighty million euro and dorfman show last summer with sancho. They stick to their price so i think this is a win win. Check the market. They see it. Is there anybody out there. This pandemic crazy enough to to take our hundred and fifty million euro and if not he will stay indoors anyway but still timing can be discussed decisive game coming up against frankford for doping to be in top four. It's very essential game but now this is normal. This is win win on the funny thing is and i have to give you that one. That is one guy who is always picture that everybody there are photos. Yeah that's ryo la but the other guy is a friend of alpha on helps him on the finances of traveling with him and they think that's royalist to. I'm not sure if that's the best compliment in the world for that. Young from norway are interesting so yang says this doesn't necessarily signal an exit from dormant for
