"The Ravens on Monday night. Football Vegas winning in overtime 33 to 27 in a game that featured a wild finish. The Raiders were set to kick the game winning field goal but could not find their kicker. That's right. They could not find their kicker, a delay of game penalty and then on the next play, it's Derek Cartas a Jones for the game winning touchdown car passes for 4 35 and a pair of touchdowns. The other going to Darren Waller, who had 10 catches Lamar Jackson. 2 35 passing 86 rushing, but a pair of fumbles lost, including one in overtime that gave Vegas the ball to get the wind. The Ravens had a 14 point lead. And lost first time That's happened under John Harbaugh for the Bills. Plenty went wrong, and they're opening loss to the Steelers. But that fourth and one throwback seems to be a sticking point. Getting much attention. I think any time I play doesn't work you always wanted back, but we're trying to call plays that give us a chance here and, you know, maybe spring, a big one, and they did a good job. We motioned 19 across and he stayed and, you know they got us. You know, we're trying to be aggressive there and certainly like to have all those calls back that quite don't work out the way you hoped, but you know, we're being we're trying to be aggressive. Bills offensive coordinator Brian Double right there. Sean McDermott spoke on that play and had similar words. He thought it didn't give the bills a chance on that play to get a positive outcome. "Here in the ten thirty five minutes to lock it in is a year the one ladies group here in Santa Fe with his fingers known as is the thing their directors here and how Erin always good to see you these singers have been around for how many years over twenty five years I want to say this is our twenty seven you've been there the whole time now if your four years all right but you're not here to talk about a program necessarily you're here to talk about auditioning right now is the time now is the times yes singers are starting up their new season it's gonna be a really fun one but also really powerful one and so if you've been thinking about joining the mighty mite easy as this would be the year to do it sounds like a chair we are the what can you do that let me see it I I I know my gosh you're right your skills are a little weak I don't know I feel like I just woke up but I'll I'll get there by the end interview I'll be cheering all right what is the age range for these veas well I mean I don't know if we have ever thought about necessarily I'm you know I'm not a minimum or or maximum but I I assume probably eighteen years old is good up to as long as you feel like you can you know make a sound we do have we do have some people in the in the group that are a in their thirties and forties and then we also have some that are in their seventies and eighties so and all the stuff and how much time is required well I mean what kind of commitment is dizzy is rehearsed that kind of an interesting time if you can make this work for you is really as nice we rehearse on Tuesday mornings from nine thirty to eleven forty five at St Bede's episcopal and it's really nice and cheery and then you have the rest the day after that to do whatever you like nine thirty to eleven forty five AM yep Tuesday morning here in Santa Fe yes St Bede's episcopal all right are you looking for a particular talent level or voice right now you know what I always am wanting some more high sopranos but I will take any voice type because you know it we will find a place for you because we sing and four part women there sometimes people could sing either second soprano or first I'll tell you know okay how often do you do auditions we're gonna do auditions a little bit different this year we are going to have auditions for three separate Tuesdays or is it four separate Tuesdays I can't remember so it's going to start on September tenth I believe no wait that's not correct hold on let me find every year or this twenty seventeen looking at my calendar here twenty nineteen there we go okay so I was correct September tenth is a Tuesday is a Tuesday September seventeenth and September twenty fourth we are gonna have be having auditions and so during those rehearsal times yeah come at nine AM rip before the rehearsal so that I can hear you and come prepared to do one well it's you don't have to prepare song unless you'd like to if you like to really impress us by bringing a song with some sheet music that be great but it's not required I'm just come in and maybe sing a little bit of Happy Birthday or some song like that and then I'll see how high and low you sing and then do a little bit a test of the it's called the total memory where I play something on the piano and you sing it back to me okay how much is the cost to join hi Z. as singers a has a monthly dues so I'm I'm not absolutely sure exactly what it is but it's it's like thirty five or forty dollars a month I believe okay then the next shows a win okay so we do to concerts per year and we do a winter concert instead of a holiday concert we do that in January we do it on MLK weekend and so that is January something or other when a eighteen the nineteenth yeah and that I was going to be at the First Presbyterian and also the theme is gonna be never the less she persisted it's about women's women pushing ahead through adversity and past expectations in any sort of restrictions that men especially would like to put upon them yeah that was a a political statement or maybe a little yeah okay SO two shows a year yeah and then the spring show is going to be in may it's gonna be mid may believe that the may may fifteenth and sixteenth I believe and that one is going to be called women on fire is going to be talking about some women who have a really made a difference in who are continuing to make a difference and pushing ahead what what women are capable of and the incredible stuff that they bring to society tell you what I hear and I saw a an incredible woman yesterday singer and that was in Hampton Callaway the Lindsay can awesome that women can belt it out and play piano and play the blues and do Edith Piaf and sing in French and while and tell jokes and it was that she was amazing to me than singer many decades as a singer songwriter with writing and I think she said seven of her songs have been on the last seven albums put out by Barbra Streisand well you know what actually we probably could do an in Hampton Callaway song in our spring concert it's not too late to add one in yeah he will get her to come back and sing with us should I bet you would she loves Santa Fe and we love here yesterday as great along with that Brandon James that was a cool show all right so you did see his fingers are twenty seven years old give or take a little bit you think the twenty seventh season on how many women in the group we have about forty women pretty consistently nowadays I don't mind if we if we add some to that I love a mighty throng of women's voices but you know it doesn't matter whatever set whatever sent group amount number of group we have I know that it's going to sound off now you have to be good because Erin's deal as director I mean he he he you know it has a very very strong grip on the program in the house and all of that and your thing is the challenge do you know you have to sing in different languages learn their languages and saying how strange songs maybe you have no for military familiarity with well I I would say that you are correct I do love to challenge the Z. as because from the very first time I worked with them I could tell they were always up for a challenge they liked the the excitement of doing something that was difficult at first but then pushing through and being able to perform it with with lots of confidence and passion so yes especially in the winter concert I do challenge them to go to places that maybe is on familiar but the theme of course will be very unifying and will be something that we really can get together on although recently we've been doing a little bit more familiar already in our spring concert like last year doing the women in Broadway right right right and so you know and then this spring it's gonna be the the the the music is gonna be about familiar people and we are gonna do some songs that were written by women of today as well so there's a long time between January and between January and may between those two shows to people have ideas can they email you and say Hey this is great song here you know this fits in or once again you are the dictator and well I mean input needed but I love I love input because although I definitely you know like to be able to create a cohesive product I don't have in my mind everything that's ever been written over performed and sometimes people say have you thought about this song in a safe that's exactly what I've been looking for you can and it works so yes I love to hear other people's ideas and I love when people send me songs to listen to did do these things have a website or social media yes I they do it's it's we do have we have a Facebook as well as an Instagram and we also have a web website I believe it's W. W. W. dot zero singers dot com alright we'll try that first try that first and people can contact you through either Facebook or the website yeah I yeah then you you can even look up as the S. singers on Facebook and Instagram or or even find other website and of course you're welcome to email me directly my email is Erin how it Erin how dot net okay easy enough so the auditions will be nine AM show up at nine AM on Tuesday the tenth seventeenth and twenty fourth of September where it's gonna be gonna beetles well that's that's an easy way to remember it St beads I thank the lord that St Bede's episcopal are you don't have to bring a song you know unless you want to list you want to yeah I mean it's it's it's so it's always a good way to kinda break the ice to have a song to sing but you have it just come and show that you're able to you know sing on pitch and you're able to create a nice sound and I think this year will be a good place for you and a good you know great group to join maybe you're new to the area haven't found the perfect vocal group for you to join I know people belong to multiple of vocal groups here in Santa Fe because apparently people just like to sing twenty four seven well if you don't get enough of there's a lot of opportunities for music and for theater and for the arts here in Santa Fe and Albuquerque and you know if you look around long enough you will find something that is your liking whether it's a symphony chorus or whether it's a church choir right or whether something like this yes singers which is does more of an eclectic kind of you know interesting different kind of programming so so yeah that maybe this yes singers is for you all right Preciado it and if you can't figure out how to find.

all time favorite singer I'll bet he's a lot of on the at the and a heck of maybe four players well exactly yeah and another thing that I just learned that you were doing the of film which is really interesting that George sure who's the son of god to children a great jazz drummer was than dog because several times and he just made us feel about the modern jazz quartet up Atlantic Massachusetts they had a school up there John Lewis was not part of our John Lewis weekend John Lewis was an organized along with Gunther Schuller's composer and they brought people like Ornette Coleman Jim hall Dave Brubeck and everybody went out there and this was in the fifties and sixties and I think this realm of of George's is really terrific and so judge is gonna be around five ideas circle wide quintet which is pretty interesting music and they're gonna also plan our jazz sent along with public dollars who's back playing again the big file there so great to see him back in the order of the in that group that does want to be in that group and and though and all in the alcove jazz jazz orchestra led by grand Koster and with special guest Hilary Smith that's our jazz we have to use them at Summerfest as well because on route sixty six on the twenty law and that's not yet that the Mideast because music of some of the talented youth in our community here and that means has the time gone it is our guest all right all kicks off on Thursday and you can find all the venues all the artist everything schedule times all that New Mexico jazz festival dot or one of the biggest night of course Tom is that the lens the when you bring in AB Spelman an NEA jazz masters this year be Kenny Barron and Dave Holland correct a B. such wonderful person and been such a great figure in the jazz world and also because the poet and he was done he was he is retired deputy chairman at the NE a and if it wasn't for him the NE a jazz masters program probably without it yes and he comes every year since the beginning of the vessel and even before and interviews in any age as well as his but this one the jet we have to jazz masters and that should be a great conversation we have one other time when we had we had John Hendricks and and Sheila Jordan do its thing together with AB but any rate this with that with David and Kenny Barron it should be driven to wonderful human being wonderful musicians have been working together for the last for many years last year's incredible DV rich water yeah that was fantastic the the drug issue yes he gave he gave a big a run for his money there there was really that as well it's always interesting and a B. as of terror a is just such a wonderful person we're so honored to have them come out here and work with us Tom tells how this all comes about you know not just the you know the venues and of course you've had here's a writ long term relationships with the with all these people and and with the theaters and of course with the non profits but coming up with a line up who does that but I do that and and it's different every year just like an interesting you know story is that you know it is kind of an embrace kind of does like in itself is an improvisation who's available so many people go to Europe in July that that we we often can't get some of the people that we that that we might have wanted to get that we it something interesting always happens and it's and it kind of takes it's own form so that interesting leave this year obviously it's really important to present you know many different kinds of people and and the and then to have the size the African American history of jazz actually call it kind of historically black music I thought that the term I came up with like the starkly black colleges I don't know if it's a good term about but I right we try and stress you know the roots of the music being in that it has a bank you do their their music is incredibly localized off Caroline is an island but basically music of the slave yeah and they work and they are really there at but with that have the jazz with do it right there but anyway we did so this year where I put the festival together and people call of scores the agents are always calling and I tried pick up very doing and then I looked at the line up and I said well there's no there's a real dearth of women performers this year for some reason and because that's really a problem in jazz in general although there are a lot of great women jazz performers and and composers and we try and really honor that but he didn't have found that and that's what our gamble the idea of okay so the cousin of civic plaza is gonna be all with and and these of these important things to think about I think as a nonprofit presenter and as a presenter of this music well I tried you know things things happen and all the sudden a look I look at the because the line up that I've put together and there's six great piano player that's how we came up with that Michael model again with that great design of for last year's seizure of the piano you know about the piano keys all over the all over the poster and the measure so you know it's just going with this kind of happened and you just try and stay in control of that on some level as well Tom I'm sure and that the of the educational part of it is is always the you know in something that you guys are are trying to make sure you and incorporate every year the New Mexico school for the arts they just recently had a had a group that went to into new York's city you like the school for the arts you look at the combo here in town you look at Santa Fe prep they have a great jazz band and I know what Mr trump the cost of the local jazz drummer along with Doug warrants and they have their new CD out called as the BOP UP I know that this is really important is is there an opportunity for the for the educational institutions here in town to participate to you know to take advantage of the Kenny Barron and if they call in when they when they're in the state well you know there's certainly the free presentation of at the at at the land like of the conversation with candy barracks right that is our yeah yeah but one thing we do do as part of the johnlewis celebration which is the way a weekend celebration is that we do a clinic for kids middle school gets too high school kids and we've done that for the last few years we we did it as a piano competition one year and then next year we did it as a just a clinic and the and with great local players Glenn Coster who's the head of the jazz studies department at U. N. F. organizes this and that Jim Barron blaze and called doable and they work with the kids for the morning at and then the kids do a little recital we tried it quite them a little bit with the music of John Lewis is John Lewis besides being a great jazz musician who played with everybody and also found that the modern jazz quartet and grew up in Albuquerque let Albuquerque high and that they do the the university in Mexico where he majored in anthropology and music you too can become a great jazz musician that's right and he education was a huge part of what he did both with adults and you so so this johnlewis celebration we always include this clinic which I think is a good out doing we we are looking for kids to do it as on the website and that.

"That's like, obviously, that's a name that. I know. And then I'm like, okay Joseph Cohen. No. And then let me check Jackie seating. Because he would Email the test. He's like, no he's not on the list. I'm like, oh, so no. So I guess that's the only crasher, but it feels like he definitely was invited. Joseph Cohen that. I don't know that name, but this is such a name of someone. We would know. Right. But maybe that's why he used that name to get in. What was your method when it came to bridesmaid stresses and did anyone show up in the color? Yes. Nicole workman showed up in the color and she's honoring right today. Because if I can remember. Because she lives in L A. How can I ask someone to bridesmaid that I haven't seen any year? But he was so fucking apt that she wore the color because she is a bridesmaid the Bryce we trust is worked out so perfectly. I just asked all the girls. I was very casual very cavalier about it. I was like I went through a few different colors because the color scheme of our wedding kept changing. And I want to talk about the decorum. What ended up being before a while? We were doing like an well, my invitations, which I'm going to do an imitation unveiling this week because I'm so proud of them. Now, I can show you all the details. They were done by invitations. Should I absolutely love? She's part time invitations time therapist. Yes. And she says that she was like people come in here. And it's like all the different like families in politics. Insular family therapy, even trying to figure out how to put people's like families names online. And I always went by myself every time just enjoying it. But Chile's just me feel so much better about everything. And like at one point we were sending out so many imitations. She just never made me feel like one I was asking for was crazy in to like I had to like this Tiffany box invitation, which I will show you soon and she. Just like she got it done so much offices in her house. Look, she lets him into her home, but also into her heart in it was him out even more beautiful than I had imagined in. I'm just I'm so proud of its I can't wait to share with you guys. She also did our mints which saved my fucking God is wedding or a thing because wedding breath is a thing. Because no one's eaten all day. Oh my God. I like, I couldn't get enough mince I've seen them everywhere. I was literally guzzling three my like so important. So she helped me with our our Athens which apparently made their way yet. And it was just she's great. So the color scheme kept changing it at one point. I wanted to room to be like this sky-blue, Tiffany theme. But that can start to be a little cheesy gun at a certain way. And I wanted my team to be frozen and knock turned out to be what the ballroom was just perfect because you are Wesson of Erin deal. I am Hilton of Arundel and a very so it's like I'm not gonna have a green spring wedding. And I love the theme. Winter wonderland. I don't think it's played out. I remember the first time I saw frozen and else's castle. And she goes on the mountain, and she starts shooting herself her own shooting ice. I was like I want to get married in that said that to Josh that was really the only vision I ever had. And he was like he he was like, okay. Like, yes, she's era France, but I can do it in the McClatchy way. And he really did. And it was Manasseh Williams..

"I'm only great because of him. And so. That's the that was the toughest part of my life. But also one of the most rewarding is a, I mean, even just like, I'm sitting here and I'm listening and I've never had an abortion or experience. I've talked to many, I talked to people in the show that Half Moon, but even the fact that you've got on a plane the next day. Yeah, not to go to your grandma's house. Not to go in ninth grade, not to go finish your senior year college, but to go run in the Olympics from body stamp lab. -solutely is crazy. Absolutely. It's funny until like I do not remember that part of it because the doctor said, I should know anything for fourteen days, and I was like. I mean, again. To do. Yes, even see me on the TV. Exactly. So even physically, I shouldn't have been doing that and and it's it's crazy because when I got to Beijing because he was day travel, so probably two days between by the time that happened, I'm actually settled in Beijing. My coach want me to go train the next day, so I wasn't at least give myself one of the three out of four days out of fourteen. Yeah, I've got a fourteen days to be no activity, and then I'm back out there. This is in so many ways. It was just so much going on emotionally and physically. Yeah, you know, when I hear stories like this and I have a similar story, I got pregnant college twice actually didn't have. I had lost two babies, so similar stories and what I am proud of you for. And I can say in a weird way proud of myself is it when we share our stories like this and when we're vulnerable with the hard thing is when other women go, okay, if God can still love her right, he can still love me. Absolutely. And that has been the greatest part for me of. In the beginning, I got some hate mills stuff. I knew that was coming stars prepared for that. Got all right. Dr dealt with that. But when I tell you the women have reached out to me and said, thank you so much because I, that's my story and I'm afraid to tell this person. I'm afraid to tell that person. I haven't turned back to God. I have not said, I'm sorry. And now I know what I need to do to at least start that road to recovery. 'cause you're always still healing from that? It's never totally over and you know, and for me, it's like, I know I know that God has forgiven me, but it's about forgiving ourselves and moving beyond that and knowing that we aren't going to be measured based on our worst mistakes in our decisions where so much more than that. And so that's been the best part for me is being able to help those women to navigate what it's like. Because yeah, no one talks about it. How'd you Erin deal with that?.
