"Was the case. Of course. Eventually you guys get back but WANNA fucking story here that what do you remember about this or can you tell us about this. Well rude was hard to communicate with. He's a very Very introverted at but while at the same time being a much very very much a dominant Alpha male He brooded some as we might dark. was he talented. Oh God right yes. He was a great heels. The one of the best is look. Great Grit psychology great entering for someone for a villain but but he did not play well with others and He he didn't communicate well. Yeah there's that word and so then it became to an impasse. Let's be honest about the returning. The bill shit have another one made. How easy is that in? Why don't you just have one made to start with so I'm a believer that if you're a a promotion and you don't have a backup belt in case of an emergency then you're foolish and that's all we had to do their? You did get the bill say bill wanted to go on. TV and again reestablish. The cowboy persona as the head Honcho. The Vince. Lombardi guy. mine. It's my way or the highway. I'm GonNa make sure you understand that. And he didn't need to be that he didn't he wasn't president. Jack Tunney you know he was he he was becoming a character character again. And I can almost bet you money that somewhere down the road that character would have found himself back in ring. People run into his fist. So I just. He was Bilas very conflicted. There and I know you're having issues or the heaven. He's on a second third marriage. Maybe I'm not sure Nice Lady married but they have issues and She didn't WanNa live in Atlanta so he had a lot both external things at play. No excuse but these are contributing factors to his behavior at that time because he wasn't the same old cowboy that I worked for mid South. Let's keep moving here and let's talk about the The tournament Round one of the. US title tournament we would see Dustin Be Vinnie Vegas Atlas over. Ben Hammar win them over bad steamboat. Hover spivey this interesting dealer. Conrad Dustin Bait the future. WWe champion Tony. Atlas over Van Hammer was what it was. Neither guy was figured into anything significant at that point in time Berry wind always regarded yarded in the company because he was a great worker in a steamboat. Over spivey. You know Dan Spivey became my favorite all-time Personas in Waylon Oakland. Mercy love that persona to Beto Danny Daniels hurt and broke now breaking down and I wish got him younger. And that were that Gimmick. He was money breath but steamboat was also money. So that's kind of how that work and the irony of these things are that the dustin issue had some the same qualities that the Eric Watch issue had. Are you here because your name. Are you here. Because she paid dues and and and and because of your skill level so and don't be don't Made it look does this. Reinvented himself AWOL. So proud of him. Not even funny sit two years old. Man He's reinvented his body is he's not had a bad match eighty yet no so you know. I'm I'm proud of the end. He's off the drugs use in the alcohol. He's clean his life up. He's a different man so I'm a soda love with that character and him I know dusty would be very very proud looking down at him so But Dustin was at a higher skill set. Then Eric did or ever would. In my opinion it's just amazing to me that you know where where we are saying their similarities when it comes to the way they're perceived to now and there's just no comparison. Yeah in this tournament. It was obviously designed to get Dustin over the concept of creating getting over a new new young talent a younger talent whatever was spot on spot on every promotion every promoter. There's not planning for their future and always have a plan to get some people over with consistent positive booking playing playing lucy hand so I the terminals all about Dustin look. He big steamboat in the finals. Right and by Ken out. Are you shitting me. Account to win the title Mixed Sense. That's political cool compromise booking and it sucks. Yeah they semifinals. We see Dustin beat Atlas and then steamboat between them and as we mentioned Wyndham comes back in here Erin. Snakes identity on the floor on steamboat. SORTA like Jake the snake. They don't Saturday night's main event many years before of course that leads to the The dust and win by count. Now he's your new. US champion it's It's an interesting time man with the whole recruits out. Not Getting paid. We're trying to get over Erik Watts. Kid No dusty kids win in the tournament flares coming back and it won't be too much longer and and cowboys Oughta here. He's done on February tenth. I think Dr let's get to the actual show clash of the champions opens with Bill Watts talking about the The historical importance of Milwaukee to professional wrestling and he talks about teaming naming the crusher. And against Larry the axe and Harley race and lots of history here for sure What do you think of bill watts becoming more of a television character? Here when you sort of alluded to it or minute ago when you said he's not Jack Tunney but this assists definitely what he was going to do. You think had he not put himself in this spot like let's pretend for a minute. He doesn't put himself on TV. He doesn't try to push his sign and if he's not if he's not trying to be on. TV would he have done the torch talk and all the other stuff that ultimately would get him in some hot water good good question knowing him man he he refused to have filters he refused to have governors. He was very independent a A strong willed person. I don't think would have made any difference You know he was always looking to find a way to defend himself art protect himself and he also again like I mentioned earlier. He's not the Kinda guy likes to run around. No He's not the kind of guy that has an easy time walking away he perceives things personally when he's disagreed with personal and he has this insatiable desire to flexes. Power was muscle. So I I I don't think it will change the damn thing. Conrad and he did you know he didn't consult me a lot of stuff which is fine so ironic. Because one of the reasons I didn't get considered sittard in a serious way to replace him was because of him and the perceived relationship he and I had. I was never seriously considered for that role and I heard it from Bill Shah and everybody else. You know where you're too close to watts. They cause all these problems uh-huh and all the problems yourself you goddamn idiot by hiring. GM heard start with so. Don't bullshit me about that and Then he says well you hard Eric because what. I can't stay here. Oh Yeah you can't. I'll get you back on the air in about six weeks. I said that's not what Eric wants. Then he says. I don't care what Eric wants. I'm running the show. Eric works for me so I just didn't feel comfortable him. Ready to Stab Eric in the back. And that's what we're GONNA. So how changing here. You're pissed at watches leadership and now you're GONNA YOU'RE GONNA try to moot Eric's leadership. I didn't think it was a good idea to be part of that. Goddamn shit show. And so. That's why I left and I read online. Prepare for the show today that I I got there and not talk with us on the air Eric's same thing. I was never fired. I resigned and that say about two and a half years of big money salary so there have to get rid of my cranky ass and 'cause I get my job. Did they thought I would probably have booby face. If I could have just done my show and come to work broadcast and go home. I'm cool. I've been there forever but I met with the best move from me was leaving. And that's been proven out time and again Dan on you know my my success there. My great run. I had the great run and I don't regret it if whatsoever. Yeah it's hard to it's hard to imagine not one of the WWF do you think it's fair that bill watts's categorized as hard dass. Well he's more than that. He was a hard ass. I hear I wish Vince Lombardi earlier. Some people don't know who that is he's he's the Lombardi trophy for the winner of the Super Bowl in the national football league. They get the Lombardi trophy. He's a great coach primarily with the Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer Multiple Championships Etcetera Etcetera. He was known as a hard ass. He was known as someone very caustic. Very strong opinion opinion and an unwavering but when he talked to guys I talked to former players. I had a great conversation town of the Hall of fame. Guard Jerry Kramer who were number sixty afforded team and he would almost had tears in his eyes talking about the soft heartedness that he saw in Lombardy but always at basically behind closed doors. He had an image. He felt like he was compelled to maintain and I think watches that way off as well I had to bring you know he. He was not the kind of guy that's going. Go out this way to be overwhelming nice to you but could he be nice absolutely absolutely my first hundred thousand dollars. A year was a bill. Dundee commit a hundred grand or a little more than hundred grand integrate job bookie bill. Bill Dundee was a great book offer mid Sal because he re re packaged and re and massage. I saw all those great memphis angles and then Memphis was a territory and nobody saw it outside the territory the content so I made a lot less money than that and I'm GonNa Syndication. I'm the boys the television show of publicity stories a ton. Thanks a radio promotion all these things so anyway I say look bill. I got an offer to go back to work at my radio station. And I'm making. I made more money there than make it here. So I've been all this work and Dundee's McCann where it was twenty five thirty thousand dollars more than I was making. I said so. Apparently your role for me your thoughts for me. I wrote this electives. Yesterday I was standing up in front. I learned this from him. I was standing up in front of his office desk. He was sitting in his office chair looking at me I had just for. I wanted him. I said so you know I love working here but I I gotta make some more money and so I wanna I wanna give you.

"How much fun would it have been? He'll we'll be back on the road back in the days as you're making towns four and five times a week if you could just whip out a guitar at the bar you what helps your salesmanship. Yep a little bit probably whip better other things out. The the guitars were grammatically correct. And I would probably be this when you think of guitars folks. Don't you think offender era body all these great rockstars all the greatest of all time. So does the greatest of all time amount Ali or were playing a fender guitar. So you're you're you're driving with a big dogs folks. This deal was two weeks free. If you can't figure out this might help you. Increase your skills as a guitarist. A Then why not you get two weeks and the offer ends this Monday so get after after fender dot com forward slash podcast. He's the Promo Code. Jr and let's get into it man. This clash of the champions here. We're coming right stockade. Ninety two a few days after that. Believe it or not vader would defeat ron silence to regain the title. Of course vader had previously lost the title to Ron Simmons or also on the heels of the Big Tokyo Dome show the great mood lose the title to Masahiro Show there of course on January fourth but the real thing that people are talking about wrestling is rather interesting testing angle meltzer report an angle shot on December twenty seventh in Charlotte were Arn Anderson and Erik. Watts gotten to St fry in front of a seven eleven they even had the Charlotte police participate and arrested or quote Eric. I think you're full details. Although should appear on television within the next week and I believe I believe the storyline will go. Something like Anderson was badly injured in the fight. Watts was arrested by the Rodney King. Video tape from a passer-by will exonerate Eric at one point and I don't know if this will still happen. Bill was going to fire Eric on television for being arrested. Before Erika get exonerated. An Anderson will reportedly receive a fifteen hundred dollar per week fee to sit at home and sell the watts in. And then we'll come in with a new contract at allegedly seven hundred and fifty dollars a shot This is fascinating to me because Eric wants for better or worse has always been a hot topic A lot of people say that. Oh it wasn't very good and he didn't deserve as push they didn't earn his spot or all the things that you hate to here but there they are and then there's this weird angle or one of the all time greats aren't Anderson at him or hooking up in a parking lot. It's a little weird. Yeah I didn't like the angled at all. I feel bad for our goals. Aren't skill set and Eric Skillset. Were far part. Eric had not had the training the time the ring time and he had a very challenging last name concern that the cowboy was the head coach and now all of a sudden is boy is in is in the he's not in the starting line-up it'd be sure so headed that way and I thought the last name there was a little was a little daunting for Eric to overcome. Eric was a great athlete. You know I've met Howard Schnellenberger L. A. Burger on a flight. co-charged Burger on a fly going somewhere in in and the flight was so empty. And we're both in coach and nobody was hardly hardly anybody was there so I moved over near him introduce myself and until marriages coaching. You didn't want to national championship in Miami And you know so I football guy so we shot the shit and I said hey look. My boss has a son. That's six five six six. He's a quarterback is is got big. I said he's got a good arm. His Dad was a two sport star in college. He's got a little DNA him. I don't know if he's you're kind of guy or not. But he's He's out there. He's being recruited so again. The name the number and all that good stuff and then honestly long story short. He started recruiting Eric. Eric and I gave Erica full ride as a quarterback at at Louisville really yeah and so he told Bill I just thought I'm your your guy referring to me that it was just fate. This was to happen. He on the same flight as I bob law so And so Eric went there and and he got to play a little you know he didn't I don't think he was grooming away but he started at certain points. I believe he had a couple good Games on national TV. So Eric was a good athlete so everybody says well he had two left feet. And you're wrong. He didn't have to lift feet He he was a good athlete but but he was he had the wrong name at the wrong place at the wrong time. It just was never going to get a bill that you always get anybody over. Well he's not ready to get over. He needs. He needs time. So that was a eric was destined for a rocky road from day. One F- let's talk about the The move the move that's going to quote unquote injure Arn is the SPF. And I I may have this wrong but I think along time ago I had a conversation with our an and I think he took credit for he wanted to sort sorta helped get this move over as a devastating finishing maneuver a hell of a submission move and heath aw showing sort of a real life application to it for that's realism to it. And maybe fans behind it where maybe the previously the habit so Erik Watts is going to put our own Anderson in an SPF in a parking lot of a gas station. Here how What do you remember about that? Were there any particular other strategies I used to try to get eric over and was the SPF. Just a miscalculation champion. I think the was a good idea. Arnold's Arnold's right on the money on that that concept. I think the biggest thing to me was that Eric One fight the young upstart good looking kid tall. Lean a beat on Anderson and he beat not only beat Anderson. He'd beat up and he didn't do wrestling ring. He did on the concrete and a parking lot so that to me was the big story the aspect of just fine tuning it but the if if I'm broadcasting given that news the bottom line of the story is is that aren't Anderson and Eric Wasco into a fight outside of seven. Eleven and Erik Watts kicked his ass and hurt. Aren't Anderson in the process. That's the story. SDS wouldn't have to be played late at all. But I do understand. I certainly understand Trying to get the hold over. Because here's the deal. Conrad that's a finish that anybody can take right. It's gotta learn to do three flips and a fly on fluffing fly or whatever you don't have to learn a little bit you know you need to learn how to sail and into to work either way into the whole album. Hold so I like the concept but that was the main story so the is a good move Christopher volume that move a lot that want to go to's so I think it was. It may have been. I believe it was Japanese. Oriented are originated so anyway. That's what that was. I think but beating aren't Anderson well known as one of the toughest guys in wrestling a member of the four horsemen. Bob La a fixture hall of Famer Summer Eventually August. Then we knew it'd be Great Hall of fame. That was the story Erik. Watts beat Arn Anderson up in a street fight in Charlotte from a convenience store is sounds good on paper. It was cast wrong. I if somebody else had done it because Eric wasn't ready for that push it was wrong. Timing the wrong timing and it was destined for pushback. And that's exactly what we got in a big way. Let's talk about some more pushback that's going on meltzer would Ryan. There are a lot of fireworks this past week on the nine hundred line. Bill Watts Steve Beverly ripped into Mark Madden who wrote a parody that appeared in the pro wrestling torch. It has become commonplace for Watts to rip in the newsletter because he apparently never learned how to take criticism only to dish it out but never permissions them by name. All we broke that rule in this instance. I found Madden's piece one of the funniest things and a newsletter in a while Bill and Eric Watts along with dusty. Dustin Rhodes with the subject of the parody which was built around fictitious last. TVs broadcast where each one had one last chance to push so in a real laws some found one specific paragraph in bad taste were. Eric was in a video and was crucified. But made a comeback with the crawler on the screen aide. Eric wants arise on a third day in an arena near you as a satire of one of the watts videos that are few weeks back on television. There is a difference between twin satire and seriousness. Even when the satires delivering a serious message having been through this many times before trying to make legitimate criticism criticism of someone's decision or performance by attempting to create the idea. That criticism is based on personal. Dislike can be an effective defense if you can change the real issue. Oh which there is no legitimate defense for to the fake personal issue so the real issue is forgotten so I guess the concept here is Mark Madden Madden who Has always been a lightning rod. I suppose certainly fired up. Bill wants here and I guess bill. Watts took to the hotline. On the end to make fun of Bill Watts or to make fun of Mark Madden and sort of take attention away or the focus off of the booking of his son. Did you have any conversations. -tations with cowboy specifically about God. Damn if we don't do something fast we're going to kill him You're talking about Eric. Right Yeah Yeah Eric. Yeah Oh yeah yeah private. Of course I was very honest with bill just like I worked with this one on one. They they demanded honesty and sickness. And I said Bill. He's not ready. Oh we're getting ready. That's what we're here for. We got you know he's going to work with aren't he'll get better every night. Well that's true in theory is just the wrong timing. Don't do it now. Let him let him go or get organically gain some Fan Support without being shoved down people's throat and popping up their ass just makes makes sense. I said your chances to get him over over right now. At this point in time is miniscule so bill was hell bent on You Know He. Finally I think a lot of that comes from this. Conrad Eric was a young guy. When we sold south to Crockett never got to live that he wanted to be like his dad head? He wanted to be the the big baby face a territory and the you know the the final say and all that other good stuff you know the top he thought that was his birthright. I thought that was his destiny. And there's nothing wrong with having those kinds of goals but he never got that chance because the company was sold and and build and sell the company with by talking to his family. I you know this is a deal where I go to Atlanta to make Jimmy Croc Rock and Rob Garner to talk about this co ventures and the very end the conversation. We're building up our papers and our notebooks so forth I flip I'd just casually said well. Let me ask you question. What have you just bought? It really bought midsouth editor. twenty-one television stations the talent contracts because because we got some really good young talent and we did sting Dr Death a lot of guys were good Steiner's so that's what happened there and Eric never got that chance and then the company was so essentially out from under him in the family. I don't think Ms Watson issues with it goes. It was a huge payday. Hey Dave for cowboy her and and it was a got him home and maybe out of that pressure cooker so it was. I think there's a lot of motivation there. So bill felt somewhat obligated in my opinion to give to help eric out because he was unable to help eric out in the mid south term. It's just a weird dynamic because you feel bad for a guy who's trying his best but you know for whatever reason It's just it's not going to happen what do you think of You know Mark Madden Him. Doing this parody. Obviously the one line may not be in the best taste. But I don't really have a problem with mark doing a parody. Everybody knows it's a parody. Wanted ones take this so personal. I have no clue. He's smarter than that. I I remember a casual conversation with bill about that. I said I'd let it go man and see. That was part of the wrong thing for me to.

"Cornet fan this is fun. Brisk preacher did this on the love to no-show who is on mount rushmore four worse wrestlers ever so not the best. That's what everybody's doing. What about the worst wrestlers ever. Jim got anybody that comes to mind right away well. I didn't commit those guys to memory so they didn't stay long. You know you crass and cold but if they got to our level excuse me and w._w._e. With that russia we had already pretty well new you. You're getting skill person. We're gonna ludwik. Bogey was horrible. What about what about broccoli tiger ali singh erik watts. There's a lot of wrestling wrestlers that fans answer like he's one of the worst tiger didn't catch on and we spent a lot of money on trying to get tiger over that didn't work a <hes> broadcasts as you mentioned was not not ready for prime time they may stretch no way i like to as a human being i like the giant gonzalez as a pro wrestler god blesses so he was just not very good so the poll look my take on that other than the stalk somebody on the bus which is what a lot of people enjoy q. and ice four is you can slap latte. Somebody who got that. I think that we all are the same as most of us fans we all recognize greatness and we all recognize recognize greatness and most of the people that are those lists are to list. They're going to match up very close so the ones you would think it would be on that list are but over the years fear if you're those guys passed through w._w._e. A at least one are group's place for intel relations. Tim flowers lower wants to know what's the single largest check. You've ever seen a wrestler receive. I don't want to know who got it. What company paid it or what area it was in. I'm just curious as to the amount of the largest check you've ever seen a performer receive at one time. Just quick dumbhead say a million dollars million dollars and ironically. It was for a a royalty check for three months so somebody wants a but a million thing about this business today. There's so much now the cia the game has changed a lot of people but where you work with companies that still get paid off productivity and the house is great so you get something then the money's there so we're gonna pay to keep leaving but a million dollars back in those days was unheard of and it wasn't for a year it was for a a royalty check for a quarter of a year teepee wants j. arkansan any wrestler from any other promotion motion to a._w._s. Who would it be lots of questions that were very very similar to that one. But is there somebody after right. Now that you think would really click with the okay w. roster yeah. There's a lot of us out there. You know i i like talking about guys that are if you're talking about guys that are under under contract that are impossible to get. I think we're wasting our time <hes> but i think that free agents out there are there are many you no. I like. I like jack swagger. I would certainly jack swagger will be on my imaginary wishlist to come to aid of you because he's got a lot of skills. He's got size. He's got a background. He's been around long enough to the right way the wrong way of doing things and i think he he hasn't touched the surface how good he could be he needs coaching and <hes> you know he needs a he was. Jack was getting better when he was work. Close the dutch mantell 'cause duchess. Oh school good coach good talent evaluator former booker cetera et cetera so jack had a personal tutor on the road which i thought helped him. A lot thought. I like gosh. There's a lot of guests i like..

"Erik watts star in w._c._w. Wa it wasn't well received and if he was done a disservice was put out there before he was really ready that his did his talent not equal is push. Why was was it a myth in the in the eyes of so many fans. He was not ready for prime time at that time he was he needed to be off to break in and learn your craft on national television. Evolution is not a good formula. That's not it's not try out time you should be polished and farther along than eric was at tanah air was it was a real good athlete. I mean eric was quarterback in high school and howard schnellenberger recreated into louisville. He's a backup. There got some gus from game time but but you know the the acre did fall far from the tree comparing cowboy to erik watts bill mcavoy had a natural feo for the business he he got it and he it felt right to him but i think that generation missed eric in that respect and that's not an offline eric whatsoever so ever he's got other skills utilizes but bottom line is he's a he's a good kid wasn't ready for prime time and and <hes> i don't know that the bill are myself or anybody else involved did erica's nothing but a disservice because she just wouldn't put somebody out there that green no matter what and of course bill thought he could overcome it he was he was watch by god and it will say clouded decision made by a father looking at sun and if we want to start talking about fathers and sons interesting business on the clusters that has created we we can go back for decades and decades 'cause it's happened time and time and time again where the sons of an established father got a break. I mean look greg ganja. Anya raygun include us entire life. We saw him to charlotte. Gregg gun satire live in bern shadow is dead wrong gone yeah. That's the way it is a lot sometimes and sometimes these guys and gals make it but more often than not. It seems like that's snowfield struggle so i don't think eric was ever really ready. He would've bag kit at all ali still now but that's fro wrestling. Just in a ring was just his is a forte. It was not his calling. Shall we say aren't all right. We need to take a timeout right now jim because i've got a heads up for homeowners. If you think you ever might want to access the equity in your home that maybe do a remodel loan may be put in a swimming pool at some granite countertops but in a towel shower spur footage build out killer man cave or maybe you think one day we might want to do some debt consolidation allegation knock out some credit card debt. Get rid of a car payment or maybe you.

"Because he had never really done that before so bruce had the show him how to make a fist. Did you have any interesting actions with donald trump <hes> he was friendly. I don't know that he was over win by being there. Sometimes he didn't wanna sell it if he did it sure is it won't come out of that overcoat. I can't believe he works at over. He wears he covers up. He's got the arrest or stuff down. He covers his body. Nothing negative. I know that he always had a sprinkle a spark in his eyes sparkling when the divas around you know hughes count average red blooded american male in that respect i guess but nothing negative you know. I didn't have a lot of time with him. You know bruce would have more time trying to produce him and i find it interesting russa's teacher guy so throw punches but nonetheless i he was okay you know he he just he he. He tried to talk to him. Every time he came around the longest conversation around trump was in green bay on on that show about out raw. They'll commercials and all that stuff or whatever it was some storyline east again. He's he's very much attracted to the fair sex shall shall i say let's let's talk about something else. In the news. <hes> meltzer would ride. There have been negotiations by w._w._e. To get the old mid south wrestling wrestling tape library owned by bill watts ex wife and w._b._z.'s been trying the purchase the collection for years but the watts price tag has been too hot and their minds monz negotiation in recent months and apparently the whiteside has been attempting to negotiate a contract for erik watts as a wrestler as part of the deal which w._b. Is hot on so let's work backwards. Erik watts in two thousand nine. Did you hear about this. What do you know about this yeah. I heard god. I started. I started the whole process with minutes. The midsouth library <hes> being purchased by w._w._e. Because obviously obviously i had the contacts bills last things ina e. n. e. lovely lady and i told her i said i'm going to pull myself. These negotiations withdrawing myself from participation because i have too much of a vested interest in what we created commits out lost my career course and then <hes> and i don't want to be to me it's a conflict of interest and i didn't feel negotiating with my friends and people i was around so that's how that worked. I i got in the game and then the bill ah excellent and maybe a coup- his kids. I'm not sure how higher opinion of the library what it's worth i think they're just taking a big the number and hope they could get it and it was based on any due diligence and research on what libraries are worth are how they're monetize but it was a good get and i'm glad that they finally got bought but i i was in in the game and that game for a while. You're all started. Got the look at the tapes and all the good things but when it came down to talk of money which is everything. It's all about the money. I excuse myself the process. This is fascinated by the idea that you know asking have erik watts get a wrestler contract was even a conversation in two thousand nine. Yes that was part of the negotiation of here's the terms of the contract will include and i was out of that deal but there was never any serious discussion about bringing eric to w w. he'd already had a little chance there that take not in two thousand and <hes> what's your what's your favorite technique team two thousand and match saviors i mean i don't know we'll talk about him again. But erik watts debuts as a nineteen ninety-two of course universally disliked by wrestling fans rightly or wrongly whatever reason <hes> it was just a miss and i i feel bad for him. Because of second generation wrestlers like that of course <hes> that doesn't apply to cody rhodes or charlotte flair but either way. It's it's a tough road. Ho especially when your dad is the boss and <hes>. I don't know what he tells us about..

"Cornet fan this is fun. Brisk preacher did this on the love to no-show who is on mount rushmore four worse wrestlers ever so not the best. That's what everybody's doing. What about the worst wrestlers ever. Jim got anybody that comes to mind right away well. I didn't commit those guys to memory so they didn't stay long you know you it sounds crass and cold but if they got to our level excuse me and w._w._e. With that russia we had already pretty well new you. You're getting skill person. We're going to ludwik bogey was horrible. What about what about broccoli tiger ali singh erik watts. There's a lot of wrestling wrestlers that fans is are like he's one of the worst tiger didn't catch on and we spent a lot of money on trying to get tiger over that didn't work a <hes> broadcasts as you mentioned was not not ready for prime time they may stretch no way i like to as a human being i like the giant gonzalez as a pro wrestler god blesses so he was just not very good so the poll look my take on that other than the stalk somebody on the bus which is what a lot of people enjoy q. and ice four is you can slap latte. Somebody who got that. I think that we all are the same as most of us fans we all recognize greatness and we all recognize recognize greatness and most of the people that are those lists are to list. They're going to match up very close so the ones you would think it would be on that list are but over the years fear if you're those guys pass through w._w._e. Just quick dumbhead say a million dollars million dollars and ironically it was for a a royalty check for three months so somebody wants a but a million thing about this business today is that there's so much now the cia the game has changed for a lot of people but where you work with companies that still get paid off productivity and the house is great so you get something then the money's there so we're gonna pay to keep leaving but a million dollars back in those days was unheard of and it wasn't for a year it was for a a royalty check for a quarter of a year teepee wants j. arkansan any wrestler from any other promotion motion to a._w._s. Who would it be lots of questions that were very similar to that one. But is there somebody after right. Now that you think would really click with the okay w. roster yeah. There's a lot of us out there. You know i i like talking about guys that are if you're talking about guys that are under under contract that are impossible to get. I think we're wasting our time <hes> but i think that free agents out there are there are many you i like. Jack was getting better when he was working close. The dutch mantell 'cause duchess. Oh school good coach good talent evaluator former booker cetera et cetera so jack had a personal tutor on the road which i thought helped him. A lot thought. I like gosh. "Jack, we got all the all the, the business side of the way and it's time for the, the big money match here. Seth Rawlins versus baron Corbin for the universal championship with the referee chosen by baron Corbin now, this match to me once again, is one of the problems with deputy and maybe one of the reasons why the tickets haven't sold well into coma, although our research shows us differently, but if it's true with the other pundits say maybe this is one of the reasons we just saw this match two weeks ago at super smash. Brothers in the eastern kingdom in the desert that we can't say on air. Yup. I don't see why they are doing it. I don't see they, they really want to push golden in the main event. I don't understand why not personal thing against him which I just don't. I don't like him as a guy, which is a good guy. But I, I can't get behind him. Hey the, the classic thing is my neighbors. Good guy, too doesn't mean that he should be headlining pay per views over and over again. I mean, there's heat there's go away heat. There's the sky is ready heating, Corbin sold worker, sold personality, great guy. I don't think he's ready for the main event, especially when you got somewhat show for five matches down working for the United States championship flop. It let Corbin work is way up through the ranks and let a guy who's. Ah legit proven headliner, who's drawn money. I know you're not supposed to say TNA in WB, but let's be honest, the biggest pay per view in TNA history was Kurt angle versus someone Joe, that's a fact. The guy knows what to do. Yeah. Can bleed the I just don't see especially if they do try and push Cohen too much down people's throats, the crowd on going to get behind them because they're not buying into anyway. So at least that they can buy into some Joe's damn, what job, it's is something, which then not going to have it if they were to do it with Joe that, you know, it wouldn't be thrown back into faces. We exactly Joe joke, can walk the walk and talk, the talk, I think Corbin is still learning. Of course, the, the difference. This one is that there's a special guest referee that's going to be chosen by Barron carbon this week on raw. Seth Rollins beat up EC three and Eric young and all these Elisa. What who's the Qatar guy an idea would allies would it'd beat him up a bunch of the cats that wanted to be the guest refs, so we don't know the is now. We're thinking it could be dark journey due to the fact that Sammy's aim wanted to do it. They wouldn't let him so Sammy's AIn Newton would be the son of Dr journey. Do you have any other options in case for wrong with Dr journey thing, which is so fricking obvious? But maybe maybe they're hiding in plain sight, with, with, who they actual referee could be. Yeah. Yeah. I there's no way is going to be anyone dog journey. But if it was the fact that you said, e c three and Eric young and Eloge would. They're all names beginning with e which makes that they're going to do something with that. Wow. Let's go through some other big e that's obvious. Big yet. Bigly Bernie lad. -unny lads. Yeah. That's right. Upi alive. But no be quite difficult to, to do. But, you know, if it'd be it'd be quite an impact the quite an impact actually would be, how about how about the enforcer is that a guy the enforcer the influence pretty was the special guests impulsive, like Mike Tyson was, yes. Exactly. Or when they've called Mr. T, Mr. e and who's the enforcer for some match. At one point in time, I think maybe. Yeah. And then he'll, he'll cut a promo. Just thanking his mother. For. Jeez. Who else is there? Erik watts baby. Networks Eric Bischoff. Oh, yeah. Actually, you know, they could bring Bischoff in and do that. The I can't think Mike Inez like Amos. He was a guy. I got it all. Paulie heyman. Oh, it Polly, dangerously bullied dangerously yet, and I can look. Yeah. That might actually be Pauly's his cO Paul Heyman now. But there's a and that maybe it is ball aiming because. Nesn Rin, and Seth, they're all buildings of that. I think the clue is there. It's all es. And you Paul E Haymond comes to mind. I think the guest refreeze going to be Brock listener. That's what I think, is going to be it would make sense. It would make sense. Except for one thing, if you could sales or bad, and the interest in your pay per view is bad. Why would you not advertise this completely completely or advertise it? Oh advertise it yet. Because Ed McMahon needs to really actually a now, Ed McMahon, of course, is the great grandfather Vincent men. So it all makes sense. Yes. So I think I think due to this great slew thing that we've done, which is a great word. I think I think Brock listener might actually be the, the guest referee. Yeah. You know, thinking of people's names, that begin with e grog listener is the only candidate the fits that Bill. So then what happens Brock listeners the guest referee? He counts three when Rawlins beats Corbett and then beats his ass cashes in his briefcase and wins the the championship. Yeah. I think that's I think that's yeah. The he all why is gonna instead of he's gonna is going to be like, no, we calling champion just he's going beat. Seth Rollins Becky Lynch. Wow. And then he's just put speculation around as he puts on a belt buckle and just wears around his waist like a beast. They John also has an e in it has oh my God. Brock Leser beats Seth Rollins for the Becky Lynn belt, which is literally Becky Lynn on a belt. I said, it's not it's not Judy Bhagwan Opole speculation on a bell buckle. So are you thinking? Are you thinking that Rawlins is going to win and then Brock is going to cash in after being the ref. I think I think yes, it's going to win, but he will not be the arena as champion now. You realize all this could change because smackdown they could actually announce the ref, but if they do, that's fine. We still think that Rawlins is going to be Corbin, despite the heel referee and Brock is gonna come down cash in and win the title to lead to summer fest. Four fatal four way. Brock listener versus Seth Rollins versus someone Joe versus drew McIntyre, Debbie good, sued, it, writ Helga main event books as you is. Yeah. That's going to be good for Yeah. ya. For for all children worldwide that you're gonna say. We are the we are the will yes, we are. "erik watts" Discussed on The Steve Austin Show - Unleashed!
"Focus on the second part of the conversation that looks at his time and UFC pan craze shoot fighting Japan as well as some pro wrestling and speaking of pro wrestling, I was not aware with regard to Ken shamrock that he was trained in part by buzz Sawyer who've never seen buzz Sawyer perform he was a wild man inside and outside the ring and crazy good talent. But candid cut his. Teeth in the Carolinas in the early nineties wrestling as Vince Torelli, which I remember from pro wrestling illustrated and the rankings. They would often report about a guy named Vince Torelli who is the champion in south Atlantic pro wrestling, but Stephen Kent talk about cans entrance into the shoot fighting world as well as rivalry with Heus Gracie competing at the very first UFC fighting and pancreas Japan. Lots of crazy stories and interesting insights from Ken about the shoot fighting world. So there's definitely ought to dig into. For today's episode this day Steve Austin history today, being February twenty first we start off in nineteen Ninety-three in Asheville North Carolina at super brawl three Steve Austin, and Brian film and defeated Markelle Zander Bagwell, and Erik watts then we move onto nineteen ninety five in Gainesville Georgia Steve Austin after a three month hiatus from WCW comes back at W W pro taping to defeat John Krystal. "And these days Eric Bischoff doesn't give shit. What are you remember about this? Ironically, because I knew poll again for new listeners, I actually work with all in the Awa. We we were there for the time all worked with a guy by the name of rob. Oh, I can't remember Rob's last name, but he was from down in Florida, and they were trying to book a lot of buildings in trying to do deals with state fairs Neka thing. So I am little bit of contact with Paul at that time. You know, we're kind of in two separate worlds in terms of what we did every day. So I didn't have a lot of interface with him. But I certainly know, and you know, when I got to WCW is one of the familiar faces as a result of that. You know, Paul I am in Dallas page. Obviously there is a Bisco. We're really the only people that I knew in WCW when I got down there. But even though I was familiar with Paul, and I don't wanna say we were friends, but we were friendly enough. I I didn't I didn't hear about any of this. Again, you talking about a very specific kind of a narrow period of time here in ninety two with regard to Paul I believe and at that time, my head was my head was way somewhere else, man. I was I was in my head was in Hollywood at the time. I was creating and developing selling shows to FOX network anticipating leaving WCW, so what went on behind the scenes in this type of drama or litigation was his so far not even close to my radar that was really unaware of it. Well, something you were aware that Erik watts. Wasn't over worth a shit Meltzer would say that watts has been booed heavily in every arena. He's appeared at it. Just doesn't work. The public isn't going to buy him and each tempt to change. That fact just makes things more pathetic. It's time to give up on this experiment and need to take him off television and have him. Learn at the beach shows or sent him to organ or Japan, where his father stigma won't prove to be his undoing and part of this is discussed in the observer because no one believes that the Eric Watson aren't Anderson angle where watts put Anderson in an SPF at a gas station on TV was very believable. And unanimously thought to be pretty bad. What do you remember about? Erik watts and specifically this STF at a fucking gas station. I remember this. Gene because it was so unusual and an outside of the framework of what to be CW would normally try to try to do at that time. I felt sorry for Eric pay. It became my pretty firm belief even early on at this point. I was still so new to the business, and I really didn't have a lot of experience or knowledge of the business of the wrestling business. But. It just seemed to me that history was very unkind. Probably still is unkind to second third generation wrestlers for the most part. You have exceptions Randy Orton being one of them, obviously, the rock being another one, but aside from that small handful, and I'm sure there are others of people that you can really point to that. We're able to either live up to or exceed the level of success of their father doesn't hap-. You know, I saw what happened to Greg gun. Greg Ghani was not a bad wrestler. Greg guiding was actually pretty good wrestler. Unfortunately, you know, he didn't kind of didn't work out. He didn't build himself up to kind of be competitive with what the expectations were of in a larger than life characters at the time. But in terms of his of Greg's psychology is skill sets in the ring. Is ability to make things look believable. And real is ability to work with the guys of a lot of different styles and sizes Greg was one of probably the better technicians in a country at one point. Unfortunately, you know, being the son of Bergen. It you start three steps behind, you know, talked about this psalm. And if you don't mind current number to go from a little bit of a tangent here for. If. You know, it started with Garrett service care, but Garrett is when Gary came to me said, you know, I want to be a wrestler along to break into the business. I I did everything I could to talk about it. You know? And I by the time Garrett came to me, the only place this was before the Indy scene heated up, right? This is like six years ago, eight years ago Garrick came to me and sedan. I really wanna get this Garrett number one look at it. There's only one player there's only one place to work, and you're less name is Bishop. So guess what, you know, not only is actually becoming talent in WWE, so incredibly hard competitive in difficult, and I would guess the odds are probably two or three percent of the people that actually go through the entire process make it to a level that you could consider a career. For any kind of long term. So the odds of becoming successful so slim and now add to it. You're my son. Now, I'm not a wrestler, but you still are going to get you you're carrying that. Nepotism, baggage with you wherever you go. Even if you're going to company were high don't work. So I really tried hard to talk about it. But in so doing I really thought about, you know, look at Greg gun. You know, he never frustrating for him. I'm sure he never became the star that his father was Eric Watts's in that same exact boat. Try as hard as Eric tried. And he did he was a good good was a good kid. He was he was he was a smart athletic committed level headed young man, when he was trying to make his way, but you know, he had that that baggage that he came in is back, which is almost worse than mine or garrison would about because. Bill. Watts believe it or not was considered to be a bigger asshole than even I was. In a relative era. So he had that going against so, and I I hate to say this. But in preparation for the show when I looked at Super Bowl, bro. Three nine looked at his match. He's fucking horrible. Now was horrible because they pushed him too soon was horrible. Because he just didn't have the natural talent in the instincts was horrible. Because he was just not booked properly in. There was no chemistry with the people. He was working with. I don't know the answer to that. Because I wasn't involved hands up by you know, 'cause I was working with him at the time. But I think anytime you get a second or third generation wrestler. You're starting out in the whole Erik watts. I think probably started out in a deeper hole almost anybody.

"My only match here was with Erik watts for control of what was then TNA wrestling and wwl TNA which I one one control to run the company then quit a week later, and then came back seventeen years later driving. So life imitates art. Yeah. I mean, I I was come when I says the business is out of the business. I mean, I wasn't watching probably talked to two guys in the business over the years. Like, you know, the businesses, a funny thing, right? You can be like best buds with someone and then one person gets out and, and then it's like, you know, you don't necessarily hear from them again, but then when you do pick right up. So it's for me. It was kind of like a phased thing. I think the first step of it was Jericho asked me to come in to MSG for his twenty fifth anniversary show for Vince thing. Yeah, I remember the show they did the. They did the Charito shirts, like the ranger? Yeah, I was at that show. Yes. Oh, man. My. Mydeal there was it was like me, Chris, Lance, and Dr. Luther Lenny Saint Clair who were all like guys who started out together in the business. We just had a blast Chris's podcast. You know, maybe people were surprised that I could be retaining on the microphone in a while. And so I mean. So then what Chris artists podcast network, like six months later, he was like all thinking to do something with Lance. Thank you and last. It'd be really good. Do you want to podcast now in my mind, again, I've been out of the wrestling wrestling for a long time, running an organization and doing a lot of business overseas, and it was like, well, I always had this thing in the back of my mind that I have this wrestling experience if there is a way for me to monetize it without actually having to get back in the wrestling business because it was on my memory. The business was it was so volatile. I didn't like the the lack of predictability of your career path. Yeah, and it was like while the podcast is like an hour a week, so I was like, oh, I'll start doing that salon. I started doing that. And then at the same time through that podcast Jericho did a podcast with myself and Kenya mega because we're all from Winnipeg famously, I guess now. And so I read. Connected with Kenny. Now, the background is KENNY'S uncle. The golden Sheik was my first manager in the business and help to train me. And so Kenyan I almost have like a bit of a family relationship. So when we ended up Chris podcast that day round Christmas time in twenty sixteen, I guess it would have been Kenney said, I jokingly said to Kenny will good luck at the Tokyo dome. Hate get me book kid, which is just a joke like was total joke. And I meant when I said, give me booked. I meant like as a wrestler, rank joking, and he goes and Kenny with like that dead pen, Kenya mega. He's like, while ready did I tried to get your book? I'm like, what are you talking about? He's like, well, we need a color commentator, and I think you'd be great and I'm like, oh, while lemme know like I'm non not at all familiar with new Japan. Didn't know anyone there. And you told them what you told him such. He said, I'm not. Yeah. And he knew the I, I didn't like I couldn't have told you who Vince is world champion was just because I wasn't following the business. I certainly didn't know anything about TNA or new Japan. So Tina at the timer as it might have been impact by them. So. I got a call to go to new Japan. And I was like, well, I have all this holiday time. I don't use it work and like wall go to Japan and see how it is, and then I had fun. And then in terms of impact, I guess I was kind of watching from afar and became interested when Leonard Asper bought the company because Leonard is from my hometown Winnipeg also..

"Fifteen minutes on New Jersey one zero one point, five I. Didn't like that The weather forecast I don't like. The heat and humidity. I'm done with it I like the fall. Anyway so I'm dumb Is nine thirty six. On the knows my name is Erik watts. I'm in for Steve trevelise. Is on vacation I'm in tonight's somebody else, in the rest of the league who it is. But somebody is in the rest of the week. For Steve and we're talking about several things we, were doing we were talking about Paul flirts and. Viral video so if you've got a story about viral videos I still want to talk to, you about that but I was reading this story about this this bride who just has this entitlement, that she that people should be coming. To her wedding and giving giving a minimum of fifteen. Hundred dollars says you can pay for this extravagant, wedding and when people didn't, want, to do what you do a temper tantrum, basically broke up with her fiance who's being sensible and said hey let's take the fifteen thousand that we, saved and let's go to Las, Vegas and have and have a crazy party out, there in a great wedding and we'll have a good time but she, didn't want that because only flus these this is her not only flew out to Las Vegas and get. Married and she wanted to have this big wedding and Aruba and everybody to pay for her honeymoon and everything so are we. Doing a disservice to our children because she Of the age. Where she was she was raised in in the, nobody loses everybody gets a, trophy, and are we doing disservice now obviously not, all kids are that way but many we see a lot of kids out there who have this entitlement, when I say kids I'm talking, about you know twenty twenty year olds that had, this entitlement that they think everything should be handed to them because of, what we how we've raised them as far as the trophy everybody gets a trophy generation so let me. Let's talk to fill in riverton Phil how you doing tonight I'm doing good a really, good one for you This is where I think yeah there's a big disservice for first of all I was. In shop would Allie Calvin watching this little girl you now have the, pact cameras or rolls up, for the launch meets. Grab a pack. Of rolls all girls like three Standing there with her father wall a sudden she, just turned around with the, back to the walls What can it be in him Jon, Switzer beyond up on the packs The. Second look. For them for a reaction the father there was no reaction Just a browser behind the, ram and. Destroy all the roles All. I'm thinking is this guy. Didn't even sell words at orange she's going to grow. Up, this is just gonna turn into some kind of a yeah Audible where argon do whatever I. Want Dive at Mary's ironman right while you're you have parents that aren't correcting their. Children when when they're, doing something wrong and. So I again I, agree with you I think that it it creates this sense of entitlement and children as they grow up and they are not able to function properly as adults because they. Think everything should be handed to them Yup I see all the time yeah You know dicey. College Yeah of, course, we're not saying oh kids are like that because all. Kids aren't like that, but there, are many many who and I think some of the, parents because they're younger. The parents are younger they don't have the coping skills. They were never taught so, it's just, as perpetual Cycle that goes to. Where their kids are, gonna be, raised that way and they're gonna keep raising their kids, that way and it's. This whole no trophy mentality that's got to go I. Mean everybody gets a trophy Politically correct crowd down. To an extreme were probably afraid that discipline the kids are. Say the, slightest thing to them Anybody because. Then they feel like, the dole something somebody else Right Circle of just Idiocy man It's a little girl is a Florida Thanks for calling Fills gonna throw pickles. At little, girls I. Mean come on One eight hundred two. Eight three one zero one five is the number to call is there? A sense of entitlement and the kid and young adults today is there a sense of entitlement, because the disservice that some of us and society in general when I say, us has done where we were insisting that that nobody loses we. Don't keep score and that and that everybody gets a trophy and we have people like this bride and this. Is definitely a bridezilla. Who demanded that people give her fifty. One hundred excuse me fifteen hundred dollars demanded at a minimum, that was what but then when people didn't want, to, do then she sent invitations backed out and then. Said well, it's contribute what you can gain a tuna fish I mean that's what I'm gonna who's gonna even want to go to a wedding. Like that where somebody's known a temper tantrum and doesn't doesn't it doesn't care about anybody else's feelings as far and even as far as the break up with her. Fiance because, he's a Chested they be sensible. Somebody raised him right somebody said suggested. We'd be sensible, and we go to Las Vegas and spent, our fifteen thousand dollars in Las Vegas and have, a, good time you can have a pretty good time. In Las, Vegas for fifteen thousand, dollars you know you can have your friends come to the wedding and you can spend all that money on. Your friends in the wedding and and having a good good time out there and I brought you probably enjoy, it more than No no I've never been to Aruba maybe maybe Rudas pretty.
