Ali Boston Logan, so three ways in the diamond Miller from Jason, which I think is not a whacked out pick. I actually think the mix, there's some sense there for sure. So I like that a lot. Let's get into what I think will be a fun piece of parody, potentially, and that's coach of the year. I'll go ahead and start this one since I had you guys start the last two. This one's really basic. I'm taking sandy brundell. And in a lot of ways, that's because they just gave one. Holy to Becky Hammond, my brain just shut off. It's ten 30 p.m. where we're recording. I just forgot Becky Anne's name out of nowhere. But they already handed one of Becky Hammond so might as well give them to the other one, but also this would be a marked improvement for New York. If they come in in a top two seat as people are expecting them, that's a marked improvement with a lot of new faces and to be able to put a lot of those new faces together as good as they are. I think that says something about a coach's ability to find a system that works very quickly for them and that says a lot about her. So I would put that camp in rondell as name and that's essentially where I go. There's no direct feedback to that. I'll pass it over to Logan. Yeah. I am sandy as well. It just comes down to kind of like Jason said with the MVP. I have a little bit of a formula when it comes to this. And it's a lot just based on expectations and record compared to the previous year. Obviously, expectations for the liberty are sky high, so it's definitely possible that they could fall short of those. But last year they finished 16 and 20, just on the fringes of playoff contention. They actually had a pretty decent showing in the first round of the playoffs, but didn't really go anywhere. I think everyone has reached a consensus that already this is a top two roster in the league and if that comes to fruition, it's probably going to be between sandy and Becky Hammond, I think there are other teams that could be fun surprises. There's one in particular that I think is going to see a significant improvement in record, but it's not going to mean anything when compared to the Hammond and brundell resume that's coming here. Absolutely. So two picks for bradel adjacent, how are you feeling? So I'm going to go, this will kind of give away before the show we were talking about how I kind of had a number three. This is going to give that away. I'm going to go with Eric Tebow. Yeah. Nice. I do it that the mystics are going to end up third going into the seating. I think they're going to be kind of that one team that kind of rises above the rest of that four through 11 mess that kind of exists. And I think they're going to do it early in the season. I think they're going to be consistent. I think they're going to come out strong, Steve, you've already talked about delle donne so I won't go into roster so much. But and I think because they have a strong early part of the season, I think they're going to seem consistent. And I think that's going to play well. So I think that coach of the year is going to go to Eric Tebow. I like that a lot. I'll go ahead and blow the spot to and say that I also will have Washington in third since that's part of why I've taken the MVP. So that makes a lot of sense. One thing I want to add to that is on top of what that performance would mean. This is also on top of the fact that one of the most respected coaches in the league's history who also happens to be your dad is your current boss. That's a really interesting amount of pressure to be playing under. Yeah. And to take that group to a three seat, I mean that's pretty impressive. So I like that Eric thibault I like that one like quite a lot. Kyle, this is interesting. More parity here. Kyle's taking Kurt Miller. So this ties again to I think the narrative is that I see Kyle and I don't want to put words in his mouth, but that's literally what I'm doing because he's not here at least yet. But it feels like that he has a lot of stock in the sparks, which is really interesting with neck and the MEP, Kurt Miller, coach of the year. Per Miller is no stranger to this award. And a lot of buzz him about his move. So I could see there being some stock in that. Around the corner. And if the sparks find themselves in the top three position, there is a discussion there. So again, I don't think it's necessarily out of the question. And a decent pick. A safer pick than some might think based on how this year may shake out, but I like it. I like the group we have here. So we got two people picking brundell. We've got Kurt Miller, we've got Eric Tebow. This is a fun group. That's about coaches. I'm happy that we're kind of diversifying our portfolio of picks here so that our show as a group, we could claim, oh, we had that for almost a third of the week. So that's really helpful for later in the season. Absolutely. Absolutely. So let's move on forward to defensive player of the year. Logan, I'm going to kick it right over to you. I think I've had grinder as my defensive player of the year every season until now that we've done this episode. And frankly, it's because when we first started the show, I didn't know who else to choose for defensive player of the year. I originally had Asia Wilson written down for this award because it's very easy to just put aces for all view awards at the end of the season they're going to be so freaking good. But I want to have more fun than that and I just want to talk about one of the players that I really adore on a team that I think is going to be really good. And that's Brittany Sykes. I've Brittany sex is my defensive player of the year. So I like that. I'm probably not going to get any points for that one, but I wanted to zig when others would zag on at least one of those. And this is where I decided to do it because I never get the defensive player of the year award, right? Anyway. So Sykes. I think with that avenue word is it has been one of the best and most exciting defensive players in the league for the past three seasons. So for her to finally pick that up, it would actually be a really awesome all I'm saying is, and by the way, I think it was wind insider that called this out. I have to remember what writer was. I think it was Owen. She is the only 5 9 player in the league capable of blocking Britney grinder. So if we see that at all this year, again, if you're new to the league, you know some of

"Herself. I went through, you know, my fresh media came through. To this moment, and I've discovered who I am. You know, as a person, as a woman, and I am dying of Miller and the way she said that, I was just, I mean, it made a little hairs on my next stand up because I was just like, wow, we just are so empowering to see young women be confident. And that's how she played. So I just kind of like meshes with what I was saying, like, the ocean, right? She just came right in. This is me. I know what I can do. And that's what she showed. And it was pretty amazing to watch. And you know, I didn't think about this until now, but like Cheryl reeve and Brenda freeze. I wonder how similar they are as coaches. I feel like they kind of give off the same energy. They're nice, but not nice. But that's a good coach in my opinion. Accountable. Hold you accountable, gonna make sure you know what you're supposed to do, give you freedom though to play. And I think diamond is exploring that freedom and she got that freedom in Maryland. Especially in the last two seasons. So I think she's kind of exploring that more. I guess you kind of the type of player she can be. And I'm excited for her after watching that. I think the links, I think there should be more people's radar in terms of a contender. They're a good basketball team with a really good coach. Agreed. No. I think, you know, they have a lot of great pieces, right? I think that Cheryl reeve, obviously. You know, the USA basketball. She's going to be the next Olympic coach. So I think, you know, with that kind of experience, obviously winning titles in the league for them, right? I just think this is going to be really fun too. To see her pour into these younger players this year and form this camaraderie and chemistry with a new group. She knows how to do it. Clearly. So it's like a restart of the dynasty, you know, Lindsay whalen just recently went into the women's basketball Hall of Fame. And it's because of her experience under Cheryl reeve, right? Obviously with the USA basketball as well, but just to know that a point guard who was coached by Sheryl Reed goes into the woman's basketball Hall of Fame. That's not for nothing, okay? That's a major deal. No, I think this is kind of gonna be the time where we see like, you know, what type of coach is reeve, like how much can she develop? Because she did develop one team that was awesome. Right. Now, can she do it again? And I think that's a really big test for a lot of these coaches is, you know, you have someone like Greg Potts. You had the same players for 20 years. And yeah. That's how you won then. Now it's going to be interesting to see if you can develop these young guys into a future winner. He may not be, he may not be the coach of that team that eventually wins, but can he develop them now. I think it's similar task is in front of Cheryl reeve and that's why I'm kind of excited. It's just kind of different thing. Then she's had, I think, we're going to see a transition for them. But in the feast of color coming back to you, like, I know. She's still in the face of color, you know? It is. Even after having a baby, it's like women are so powerful in that way. It's like, you know, I'll have a baby get right back to business. She's hooping. She played last year. I don't know. That's another thing where I'm like, I can't. I can't even think. You know how you said you went through the table in WWE. I'd rather go through the table. You're like, table or baby. The table, they will probably probably like, I'll be okay. I don't think I could be as tough. That's quite something physically. Yeah. The metaphor. I'm glad I'm glad that she's back. And so you got to see the mystics up close and personal against the dream. There's a bunch of really interesting things in that game. I thought, you know, the mystics obviously starting with them. It's just looks fry. Man, you know, she had a, do you remember the one? It was a steel, oh man, I think Britney Sykes got the steel, which is like a likely situation because she gets to hold on. But she got the steel and she comes down the wing and then is coming on the 5 cut. No one around there, she just gets it and goes reverse. For no reason, I was like, still almost like touching the rim in the background. Who is this? He's balling. She's hoping. Listen, Elaine zelva said at the end of last year that at the exit interview with media. She said that she was going to really, you know, put in a ton of time with her body strength and balance and all of that. And she was hoping that this was at the end of last year. She said she was hoping, you know, not to miss any games for load management like she did at the beginning of last season in WNBA with the mystics. So this season coming into it at media day. She said, I am not playing. I'm missing any games. I feel like I'm the strongest I've ever been in my life, right? She's been working on how our body moves. How our body works, what's best for her body. Especially at 6 5 to be able to land the right way to be able to move the right way to get down on the ground. And we saw her on the ground several times in Atlanta game. And a couple of times. And we were talking about this before we got in here. But a couple times like she laid strong screens on folks, okay? I'm talking about right there, hit the wall, right? And she didn't fall. She was still standing. And it was just like, wow. And before I think watching her set a screen like that, like being really physical, I would cringe because of her back. And she had a broken nose. She had a bone bruise in her knee and she had three herniated disc in her back. First of all, how? The second of all, every time she fell down or had crashed with someone on the screen or something, I'd be like, oh, is she good? Did that jar her back? You know, is she all right? And in this preseason game, nothing like that. No feeling from me. Like, I see her as being sturdy, it's being strong, body on balance, and the fact mentally that she's already said on the strongest I've ever been in my life. I mean, that carries weight. Also, but she did get hit with a screen and fell. So it was super physical, but I think, you know, it didn't phase her. And because it did face her didn't phase me. 'cause I'm always worried about her body, you know, because of all the things that she's been through with it. But I mean, you hate asking about it because it's a valid question and a valid curiosity that a lot of people have. You know, a lot of people have asked me is she healthy, right? Yes, and she's more than healthy. She is dominating. I was at practice today. And she was dominating our shot looks pure as always. Her decision making appear as always. I mean, great passes. At a double teams, dig downs. She's able to see over defenders at 6.5. So, I mean, she's just, you know, two time MVP. And the league, and there haven't been a lot of them. I haven't been a lot of two time MVPs. It's barely been three. Three time MVPs. So I think Leslie will go into that. But I mean, I mean, she's won two MVPs for a reason. And she has an Olympic gold medal and obviously won a championship in GC in 2019. So, I mean, this is a player who brings an invaluable amount of experience to the table. I know Eric Tebow, the new head coach there. Mike T boz now the GM. But Eric said, you know, he wants to have her be more vocal. Now she's like a legit that for this team. And I think we've seen that. So far in training camp, her stepping up into that role as well. So it's really fun. Yeah, and she's going to need to take over some more of that responsibility just to the new coach. Especially a younger coach. I think she's kind of going to be the person who he relies on for that. And it's a great person to rely on. I would rely on the land down for almost anything in my life. But man, she just looks, she says she's a little stronger. She looks like just like I get real big now. It's not like a small forward in a power for his body. So he's just powerful. Strong. She's a little bit more explosive. She's a little bit quicker. I think she's, I believe her, I guess, is my point when you think, as you believe her, I believe that she's the strongest she's been. I believe what she said last year. Like, I have a new body and

"Game meal as a coach or player? As a player, it was always chicken, potato, a little bit of pasta. And back when I was a player, we didn't have as much information when it came to nutrition as we do now. So that was the same thing. It almost every time. You know, as a coach, uh oh, here we go. We have a dog appearance. I love it. But as a coach, I don't really have a pre game meal. You know, I don't have as many superstitions as a coach as I had as a player. So I can pretty much pretty much do anything. What coach are you most excited to go up against? Oh, wow. That's a good question. I don't know if I have one coach that I'm most excited to go up against, you know? Always before it was lamb beer that was always a lot of fun to go up against Bill laimbeer. Of course I grew up watching the bad boys and that was fun for me. You know, I think, you know, certainly probably Cheryl just because of the history that we've shared with Indiana and Minnesota. You know, I think it's gonna be fun to go against Eric Tebow. You know, all the years of coaching against Mike and sort of watching Eric grow up in this league from the time he was a young boy, you know, passing to players in Connecticut to now having his own team. I think that's going to be really fun. And really cool. So I guess I would say those two. Favorite game that you ever coached or played in? Favorite game that I ever played in was the national championship game. Favorite game I ever coached, of course, winning the winning the WNBA championship. But the finals in 2015 was really pretty cool. And for those of you who were there, and your expert for those of you who are there, remember in Minnesota, they had when the video board would do the countdown. And then it would just go black. So the moment that we were in Minnesota, I can't remember which game it was in 2015, like the first time that that happened and I was in the head coaching seat. I just remember smiling and thinking like, this is exactly where you want to be. This is so cool to be in this moment with all of these fans and it was so loud and as soon as that hit zero and the lights went out and the crowd just roared, it was like, this is why you do what you do. This is the fun moment. And so that moment has always stuck with me and it was so much fun. And even though we didn't come out victorious, it was a special moment for me. Oh, I just got chills. Okay. Favorite vacation spot. Anywhere with a beach. Anywhere. Anywhere with a beach, yes. I did take our kids to Jamaica for the first time this year, and they loved it. So being able to share their that was their first international trip and how much they enjoyed it and how much fun we had plain volleyball together and all of that stuff. That made that a really special trip. Toughest player that you ever had to guard. Cheryl swoops by far. Oh, you didn't even hesitate on that one. Wow. That was so quick. I love it. And my personal favorite question to ask, besides Dina triassic, who's the biggest trash talker you've played against or seen? Oh, wow. Everyone always goes with DJ. I'm like, no, someone else. Warren's reaction was pretty good at her trash talking too. Yeah, she was. I mean, you know, if we're talking about the number of F bombs dropped between Lauren Jackson and Diana taurasi, like it's gotta be pretty close. That's amazing. It also makes sense why Sue's good friends with both of them. Right. It all makes sense now. It all makes sense.
