Who the hell are you? Rowswell. Well. The entire town hall with mayor Pete yesterday. With Chris Matthews on hardball mayor Pete is far and away the best political animal in the field. It's like when I go to my son soccer practice in the one kid just stands out is so much better than everybody else. Now get some of these idiots in their cancers. And you can see their minds, crunching various answers consultant, till say about this anyway, we're a long way off five hundred eighteen days until the election. Although we're just couple of weeks away from the first debate Kia came up with an interesting idea. They're going to recreate some of the famous living rooms from television. There's only three that they mentioned here. So I don't know. Only three but three that I've seen the pictures are pretty cool. This is the friend of the Simpsons living room. That's what will look like you can get everything that the Simpsons living room has. That's funny. The couch, the crooked sailboat picture the lamp, the purple end table. The green just everything the funky of throw rug has a nice touch if I were me as I like twenty eight year old I would so do that in my apartment. Just why not this is the friends living room from the television show, friends. Just looks exactly like where they say it is amazing, and everything will walls help everything you can buy a package, and then the TV show stranger things which I don't actually know but you can do that. Also tried to get into that. If that's your thing do that. My recommendation recommendation. Do that thing later, this hour will play you Elizabeth Palmer of CBS news in TNN square asking young people about the massacre thirty years ago today, and what they know about it. And that's pretty interesting carrying around a picture showing people, the picture of Tiananmen Square saying, do you know what? This is. That's a dangerous game. She's playing no kidding. And how, how would they know what it is because the government has gone out of its way to make sure you can't know what it is? The fact that they've been that effective is astounding. It is. I mean you can try to keep something out of circulation, but it's very difficult to do, especially today. In the New York Times how for weeks they have been rounding up either people that were involved in it back thirty years ago, parents of people who were involved in it any activists who've written anything about it. They're all either in jail or under house arrest may can't be out and about causing any trouble. What if what if one hundred of them gathered together and Tiananmen Square? Can't have that. And with as we talked about earlier with their modern technology, they can make that happen. They can keep people from other ever gathering again, which is really troubling. Got if the world ever comes under that sort of sort of totalitarian, leadership, it could never get out, humanity, given the technical capabilities of today with the modern weapons and technical capabilities, you could never get out, right. Well, and there are multiple candidates in the American presidential race that want very much to just exert just enough control to bring utopia which always ends in horror. And I've got this I don't really have time to get into it right now. The, the fifty most amazing moments of the last one hundred years. Compiled by adults not from the United States, which makes a list a little more. Interesting on US Centric law. Right. What's number one, though? I think number one is pretty interesting. As the right way the rest of the world looks at it, the last century, reckon. The moon landing that finishes fifth Watson. When you ask other countries end of World War, Two is number one. That's a good. Oh, sure yeah. Yeah. I mean. Yeah, I get it. The moon thing was astounding an achievement and wonderful and breathtaking. If tens of millions of people are dying than that stops. Yeah. That would stand out what's coming up your news Marshall got Trump Theresa May's press conference filled with mutual admiration, congress launching a major crackdown on social media and an update on those genetically enhanced Chinese babies on the.

"And now we turn to the analysis of shields in Brooks. That is syndicated combs, Mark shields and New York Times columnist. David brooks. Hello to both of you. So we are trying to work our way through a conversation with each one of these candidates, Mark there. Now as we said, twenty three of them, we talked to Eric swale. Well tonight, Kirstin gillibrand last night, I'm not gonna say there one issue candidates, but they are in his case you heard him talk about gun control here. Jill ran emphasizing women's issues. What are you hearing from them is, is it smart for them to seize on one issue or not? We'll find out whether it is just strikes me that abortion, as an issue has been she's. Jill cushion killed brand is probably most identified. Is an issue, where those who seek serious and large change? Find themselves on the political defensive and I think it's fair to say that it's hard to it's hard to imagine anybody running a winning national campaign on enlarging. And making statutory abortion legal in all circumstances. Or for that matter, a Democratic Party, which is essentially unwelcoming to those people who are have reservations, who oppose life agree on every other issue. I mean, it would essentially pod Casey in the fifth term from Pennsylvania state, Senator would not be welcome and not received party backing basic what's coming to you. When I look at candidates, I'm struck by how the self esteem movement was actually very effective. When I look into the presidency, I've interviewed a lot of presidents since Reagan. Really? And the one thing I come away with F every single interview I could never do that job like it's a really hard job. And I, you know, Eisenhower if I rise in our to do that. I've run war, you know, Franklin Roosevelt was governor of New York. Ronald Reagan was governor of California, George H W Bush, let serving position almost imaginable. But why people think they could be president and say it's a little miss divine me. But maybe that right. The second thing I look for is. Unique selling proposition like an actual route to the White House while your call to run why it's not just about getting more famous, but why there's been some call on you to run. And for Elizabeth Warren, I can see. She's got a set of policies and plans that are unique unique selling proposition Biden's got broad experience, Bernie Sanders says of outlook with a lot of the candidates, a lot of the twenty three I don't quite see unique selling proposition or politically even route to victory. Well, no, I don't argue with that. I mean, I just say that the consensus on abortion, in this country seems to be being favored, the status quo that which is rape, incest, and the life of the mother. And that to me, if you start to change that, which, I think Republicans, the finding now we've got the Republican national chaired disavowing it and public and Senate majority leader, disavowing, the latest change the most zealous changes. Republicans are making. I think it tells you something about the politics where the fifty percent of the country is sort of in the middle and Jilib ran says, no democratic candidate should get support if they're in the fifty percent which is a guarantee of permanent minority. Well, let's talk about this, the something that's consumed us for the last couple of days, and that is, what was a fight battle between the president and Democrats in the congress over subpoenas documents this turned into this very personal feud, Mark between. Speaker Pelosi and President Trump and here is just a little bit of what the two of them have been saying about each other over the last two days. We believe the president of the United States is engaged in a cover up. I don't do cover cover-ups the most transparent president probably in the history of this country. So get these phony investigations of with I pay the president of the United States, I wish it is family administration staff would have been intervention for the country. The White House is fun out. That's why he flipped yesterday. I'm gonna extremely stable genius. She's a mess. Luckless face crazy Nancy. I tell you what I've been watching her, and I have I have been watching her for long periods of time. She's not the same person. She's lost it. I think Nancy Pelosi..

They can't believe they're living Bernie a sellout. He's selfish. And they're trying to whip up a bunch of anti. Bernie Sanders pressure. But what they're really worried about is that every other democrat is now going to want him on this and mayor Pete, hey, come on come on my husband, and I would love to kiss each other on facts man, that would be great. When we go into town hall and an Eric swale Welby right behind him arrested a democrat parade. I wanna kiss my husband FOX to. Oh, that would be a wonderful. And they're livid and paranoid that their own. Democrats are going to undercut their effort to destroy FOX financial. Ability there. Couple other aspects of this thing as as well. Some of them are saying to support their contention at Bernie's being selfish. There isn't anybody watching. It's going to change their mind at vote for Bernie, nobody watching this is the Fox News ought not gonna watch Bernie townhall. Hey, Bernie's a good guy. I'm gonna vote that isn't going to happen. Why is this important because again, this this is a a vivid? Recent indication of where the democrat party is. It's not just Eric swale. Well, this now candidate for president. There have been a number of mainstream democrat elected officials who have now publicly said, it's time to take the guns. It's time to confiscate. And it's time to go after anybody who still keeps these guns. "Well, well on Stephen Colbert last night, you are forgiven. If you don't exactly know who Eric's while well is he is a northern California congressman and now the eighteenth democratic candidate running for president. And really despite Joe Biden's, recent bad press for inappropriate behavior. He is still leading according to several recent polls, followed by Bernie Sanders. Elizabeth Warren, come la- Harris are focusing on releasing policies building their platforms, but Rourke mayor Pete Buddha. Judge seemed to be gaining traction among young voters here to help us sift through all these candidates as Matt visor national politics reporter for the Washington Post. Hello, hey. Okay. Eric swale? Well, not big name recognition. I'm guessing outside northern California. No. Although ee is sort of a fixture on cable news TV he is. He is often on. So he may be familiar in that way, he is a four term congressman from California trying to make a name for himself. Although he has been he has been on TV quite a bit. Right. Well, so what is his calling card? What does he say? He's going to do the other candidates won't. So I think he seems to have a more singular focus on gun control issues. It has been a topic for many of the other candidates as well. But I think Carson while will we'll we'll put that issue front and center so much similar to today. Inslee the governor of Washington state who's done the same thing with climate change where it's the topic through which he sees his presidential campaign at I think that's what we'll hear a lot from swallow on and kind of banking on the idea that that voters will reward him for that. He's also a lot younger than some of the other candidates. He's thirty eight. Eight. So he's in mayor Pete territory. And is he is he trumpeting that that he is a candidate for the millennials. Yeah. I mean, we will see we're already seeing in his field somewhat of a generational divide. There is as you mentioned mayor Pete people to judge is thirty eight Eric swale well in the race at Tulsi Gabbard, the congresswoman from Hawaii is also in her late thirties and Beto Rourke in his forties. So there is a little bit of a generational difference them competing on the other hand with Bernie Sanders in his seventies. Joe Biden also in his seventies. Looking to maybe get in later this month. Elizabeth Warren also in older candidate. So what about the age difference because you have looking at early pulling, and yes, it is very very early. But Biden way ahead Sanders way ahead of all of these other candidates. Dates they are the oldest whitest men in the rain. And part of that, I think is a little bit name recognition. Both Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden having been national figures for a long time. And so at this point in the race. I think that that is part of what's guiding their strong polling numbers that other candidates are trying to trying to test that out and see if they might be able to build a more formidable campaign that will go the long haul. And and I think that that's that's a test. And and I think that we'll see whether Joe Biden is one of those candidates whose whose stock goes down the men and he gets in the race, you know, and we'll see a year from now when when the nominating contest actually begin. But does it say something also about where the Democratic Party is like the people who are engaged and would have a have a choice already on perhaps are more likely to vote are going for the older? Moore establishment candidate? Candidates like it would be harder for a younger less Astab list candidate to to gain traction with these voters. I think it will be hard. But a lot of the national polls are are frankly, measuring not the most engaged people it it. Most of the polls are are maybe likely voters across the country. But but people I think so far at least talking to people in Iowa New Hampshire some of them most engaged voters. They're not making decisions at this point. And I think that's a little bit. Why we're seeing some of the fluidity where people to judge who who most people hadn't heard of a couple of weeks ago is now leaping in the polls. And and able to raise a healthy seven million dollars is is suddenly in the contest in a way that he wasn't previously. And I think part of that is democratic voters don't know who they want at this point and are willing to take a risk. And sort of shop around still before they make their final decision, and what about ideology hard left versus more mainstream moderate left where the voters on that. Well, so far a lot of the energy has been on the more far left. The discussion has been dominated by candidates like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders who've come out with policies that would have been seen on the fringes in past presidential campaigns. But are now becoming a little bit more mainstream. I think that'll change as other candidates get in June. Joe Biden in particular. I think is somebody who more centrist Democrats look toward to to sort of rebalance the ideological debate. That Aurora has also sort of distance themselves and backed away from Medicare for all which is one of the litmus test for progressive Democrats. So you're seeing some of the candidates who are getting in the race trying to take things in a little bit more of a moderate. Erection. But certainly the early part of this contest has been dominated by progressives in the party. No democrat can win without African Americans going to the polls where it's again, very early which candidate in general do black voters prefer there are candidates who are putting South Carolina as a particular important piece of their strategy. Kamla Harris has gone several times to South Carolina. The to the point where there's a little bit of aggravation and some of the Iowa and New Hampshire voters who are used to being lavished with attention and Cory Booker also has been in South Carolina quite a bit. But it it's hard to tell at this point sort of where voters Mako in particular in the black community. There's a little bit of a difference between how the older generation looks upon this field of versus is sort of the black lives matter the younger generation. In sort of still trying to figure out where that energy may go. So this debate on June twenty six how many candidates will be in it so far it's unclear it is dependent on showing at least one percent and three different polls or raising Sakib five are raising earning contributions from sixty five thousand unique donors so most candidates will qualify. They're going to be over two nights. And there won't be a, you know, the Republicans last time so we've had a like a kiddy table debate. You know, the the first that debate earlier for candidates who were not seen as as formidable. The Democrats are gonna to mix it up. It'll be random drawings to figure out who will debate on which night. So it'd be over two nights. And it could be quite crowded on that debate stage. Well, Matt, thank you. Thanks for having me visor national political reporter for the Washington Post. What is you? Many of the candidates have discussed.

"On Tuesday Representative Eric swale, well democrat from California joined us on the show to talk about the end of the Muller report. And I asked him what congress could do to rebuild trust in our political system. I think what we can do to earn the faith of the people. We represent is to scrub our government of dirty maps encourage money. Dirty maps, there's while will is talking about partisan gerrymandering, and that's drawing district maps to favor one political party over another. If people have faith that the representatives come from districts that are drawn by independent commissions who don't have a stake in the outcome that the outside unlimited money that pours into our elections. I will become transparent, I think we can reach consensus on the issues that the American people want us to reach consensus on I think you'll have a better more responsive government and those so called dirty maps were before the supreme court this week in two separate cases. The first case in Maryland has to do with a democratic gerrymander of the state's congressional map. That's David daily author of the book rat, why your vote doesn't count. You're talking about one specific district Maryland six which Democrats essentially turned inside out. It had been a district represented by Republican for many many years and in the two thousand eleven the redistricting. Democrats took one hundred seventy thousand voters and ship them out of that district shipped one hundred seventy thousand new voters in and that district elected a democrat that year and now Maryland has had a seven one congressional map ever since the Maryland map. Also went before the supreme court last year. But the justices dismissed the case on procedural grounds. The second case before the court this term looks at the entire congressional map for the state of North Carolina in North Carolina. It's the other way around it's the Republicans who gerrymandered that state, and this has to do with the two thousand sixteen congressional map that came into play after the previous map had been declared unconstitutional racial gerrymander now the plane. in this case are saying that the republicans wrongly used partisan data in order to draw themselves eight ten three enduring congressional majority in that state but this problem extends well beyond maryland and north carolina gerrymandering lawsuits are pending and at least a dozen states and last year the takeaway.

"Foreign contacts foreign context that involve business dealings being somehow worthy of an investigation and potential impeachment. Right. That's what we've heard about. Donald Trump gave us going to build a tower in Moscow. But keep in mind, none of this legal, by the way, his son met with a couple Russians showed up and talked about Russian adoption. He said they may have information on Hillary and never exchanged any information. So if foreign context or a big deal, then let's hold Biden to that same standard. So I have an article in the show today from the New York Post, it's an older article. But it's worth your time. It's from the excellent author Peter Sweitzer wrote the book Clinton cash, and in the New York Post piece, it lays out some very suspicious context. Joe Biden has had with foreign governments and those foreign governments have then turn around and done business with people close to Joe by notably his son hunter. So just to be clear. Joe? I'm just asking everyone here to be fair. Yeah. Liberals and conservatives included if Jerry Nadler sleazy, Adam Schiff, Eric swale, well, Mark one or on the Senate side, these Democrats all wanna harass Donald Trump for contacts with foreign officials that involve business dealings, then it's only fair to ask the same. Exact question of Joe Biden even worse, Joe if a meeting with members of your family, notably Don Trump junior with some Russian. By the way, who ironically connected to Clinton. But if meetings with members of your family and foreign context and business dealings right are suspect and worthy of investigation than I am demanding the following be investigated to let's go through them. One by one articles in the show notes today at Bongino dot com. Please read it hat tip. Peter sweitzer. All right. So Joe Biden's, son hunter hunter Biden starts this company. Joe Rosemont Seneca who does he start with a kid by the name of guy by the name, excuse me? He's at a kid a guy by the name of New York. Chris Heinz Chris Heinz, Chris Heinz wise Hines like the catcher pines. Yes. Exactly. Like the catcher pines actually ponderously name the Heinz ketchup fortune. Wow. What does that sound familiar? Teresa Heinz Heinz she's gotten abbreviated. Last name. His mom is Teresa Heinz, Kerry, Kerry, John Kerry, John Kerry's wife, so John Kerry's stepson, Chris Heinz and hunter Biden start this company. Follow me here Rosemont Seneca. Right. So rosemont. Seneca is the son of these two powerful officials one who goes later on to become secretary of state under Barack Obama. The other one Joe Biden, obviously hunter Biden's dad is the vice president United States now again meetings with foreign officials Joe, especially with foreign officials and your family and business dealings are supposed to be highly suspect..

"Government would reopen. The congress would go it with the White House and reach a deal to end the impasse over the border wall. Republican Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, one of the leaders of the group says it represents a milestone for the first time in thirty four days. You've had a bipartisan group of senators coming together. The other leader is Maryland democrat, Ben Cardin, we are committed to working together to come up with a bipartisan proposal for border security in this country Graham who says he spoke to the president about this bipartisan efforts as Democrats probably could come away with some wins. You aren't eight hundred million dollars for refugee assistance. You'll get it. We all need more judges two hundred and fifty more border patrol agents on the border would be good for assault. But Graham, says the agreement also will have to include something else money for barrier is required to get this deal done Graham says he does not believe it will be a concrete wall. But rather a combination of border security measures, which in some cases might be fencing and others more border patrol agents or other enhancements the Senate is back at work today. So as the working group whether they can move the ball down the field at all remains to be seen. Linda Kenyon, Washington. It's eleven past President Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen, and the Senate intelligence committee have agreed on February twelve interview date. The panel subpoenaed Cohen after he postponed his scheduled testimony in front of the house oversight committee, citing threats from the president, California, congressman, Eric swollen. Well, is urging Cohen to share his story before he heads to prison if I can address Michael Cohen. I I would tell him is someone who's talked to witnesses who have broken away from gangs before you know, one yet to protect. Yourself as well to be smart about that. In two you've already done the hard part. You've come forward you've broken away. You've given your account don't allow a paper tiger to bully you. And also, the the message that you sent to other witnesses with their courage can be very helpful in an investigation, California. "That he said there was no caravan. There were no caravans. Didn't MSNBC run a bunch of stories on the caravans just like all the other networks and cable news outlets. So he's accusing his own network of perpetrating fake news is is that what is that what it comes down to eight four four five hundred forty two forty two. We've got some more sound cuts. We're going to be playing this in this hour from from various democrat worthies will have one once from Bernie Sanders, and from Harry Reid. So, you know, they're all they're all singing a different tune here today. And you know. A really a real underrated obnoxious democrat congressman is Eric swale. Well, he's talking about. He's I always laugh when they say the Berlin Wall kept people in not out. The problem is Walzer medieval walls, separate people. And that's not who we are. So again, you know, you comes the recurring question. So this Eric swale, well will leave his door unlocked every night when he goes to bed when he leaves to go to work in the morning to see leave 'cause you don't locking up your house. That's not who we are. Is it you don't suppose somebody needs to come in and have a shot. A who teach. You know, word the steal your jewelry, your big screen TV.
