Short-Term SEO vs Long-Term SEO (Which One is Better)

"Welcome to another episode of Marketing School I'm Eric Su and I'm Neil Patel today we're GonNa talk about short term Seo versus long-term Seo and which one is better. So a lot of people like going out there and be like I'm GONNA buy tunnel links or UNDIS- GONNA go blitz a ton of content. There's raise short-term SEO to acquire a ton of sites in just through on redirected or by expired domain names have links. Some of it is grace. is black vitz light. But in general if you're short term versus long term, you're thinking about, what could you do right now to get results right away seo inherently is a slow steady gained gang. Sloan. Said, he does win the race if you do attendance. Stop. Gould, isn't just Update the algorithm in you to the top, they slowly increase your rankings overtime, and for that reason, if you try to do anything that shortsighted in short term, it's usually not gonNa give you are Y in searching hurt you the only time Reich seen short-term really help is you're a big company already with authority already have a lot going on but you have some issues like on page Seo when you fix those things yes. You'll get a impacting the short run but I also look at those long-term tactics because it you don't do. GonNa hurt you in the long run as well. Yeah. So I think a lot of it's beyond just marketing is a mindset thing. 'cause I think early in my career, I was trying all the short-term things because I want results very quickly I wanted to prove myself and I would try all the things would try spun articles, I would use. What is called? There's other tools se new can all these weird tools like all of a sudden like have twenty new articles that there's like jumbled texts that has just like it felt wrong. So usually when it feels wrong, it is wrong. I tried all these other things link wheels just weird stuff where I would get traffic very quickly but the the site would be slot very fast by google at the traffic would disappear. And so when you think about from a business perspective, you look at Amazon, you know people are like Oh, my God, they don't drive any profits, not a real business and years and years and years analysts were like this is not a real business. It's going to go bust you at them. Now, billions and billions of dollars, all these other revenue streams, all these other business lines is because the reinvesting because he kept thinking about. The long term thinking about short term kind of quarterly results from the stock market you should apply that mindset how you do marketing because now you're not gonNA think about I'm trying to get results in the next month sixty days or so in the next ninety days, I'm trying to build for the next ten years the next twenty years and when you're able to do that, you think about, okay I'm not gonNA try to spin. Articles anymore, I'm going to be like Brian. Deane. I really long-form great content and have a lot of data and it's going to be the best fees out there. I'm going to promote the hell out of it and I'm just to treat my audience right I'm gonNA respond to them as from there under the bill even more than just the Seo audience that I have I'm GonNa live on channel because at that point you're building. A brand is an asset. It's hard to a brand on a shaky foundation where actually if you're trying to do things really quickly, you're not really going to have much of a foundation at all. We see that happen time and again just over and over. Just does not work out like you have to go long run SEO is a long-term gain anyone. He goes with the short-term game usually distance of losing money and what will find his eric and I were in the same boat where we start off, we'd be like this tool it can like Dr more clicks to your listing, and that'll indirect restart. We've seen rankings overtime while like. Shit doesn't work. It's not long term wasting all this time ever on short-term tactics. If you spent that time and energy on long run, you'd be much further along I think those of you that are listening right now that are trying in the midst of starting out the on you want to try to things we're not going to be able to stop you. You're I think you're going to try them no matter what and I. You've got to eat some dirt and then you're going to be like, okay, I. Get it. Sometimes, you just have to experience it for yourself. That's fine and those of you that are like, yeah, you know you've dotted your get what you're saying. Here's example of something new I. Don't know if you saw this but there's this new it's called GP three. Have you heard about it yet on? So it's basically it's ai that will take one sentence and it will make into full article for you. So check this out I'm gonNA share the link with you afterwards. But this one article I was reading this entire article about what GP three was and the entire articles written by the machine. I. Couldn't even tell, and so afterwards, it's like the implications for that are when it comes to like a reporting standpoint or when you talk. About scores or news things like that, you can easily pump a ton of content the difference now I'm excited about this but the difference now is this is a long term play 'cause. I actually can understand it and I actually got value from it versus the short term play before were a lot of these tools were just kind of switching words around or it was switching more around where sometimes incentives is that even make sense and. That's different right at that point of trying to get it it's a hustle. But when you think about talking about machine learning talk about Ai, that's a longer term play because you're actually still adding value while saving human beings time. So at that point, it becomes a different story. So it's also important to know understand nuance

How to Build a Brand When You Aren't an Expert

"Committed to your success online. We've worked with them to a special offer just remarking school listeners. All you have to do is go to dream host dot com slash marking school to learn more and get your website online today. Welcome to another episode of Marketing School I'm Eric Su and I'm Neil Patel, and today we are going to talk about how to build a brand when you are not an expert. So a lot of people are asking US hey, how do I build a brand I'm getting into this field I'm learning law and decide you know what fake it till I make it what do I do and you have to real options the first option is you can just way and then once you get really good at it and you think you're all as quote unquote expert grew whatever you WANNA call it. Then by all means blog about it creep video content odd cast The other option and this is the one I would recommend is you don't have to get expert to build a brand you can share your journey you can share the mistakes you learn, you ensure the pros, the cost, and eventually not only will you learn what to do, what not to do your followers or the fallen that year solely attracting will also learn what to do and what not to do. But eventually as you gain more and more expensive the month over the years you'll be then seen as experts have to be expert. You don't WanNA call yourself expert to share what's working for you in that industry on what's not be super open open book you transparent So I was actually just GonNa say something similar around document your journey in the beginning when people when you maybe feel like imposter and you don't feel like you have enough to teach you don't feel like you're good enough I think happened. So a lot of people when they're starting out and I think that stops them from starting. It's also painful when people don't see results for the first two to three years or so and what I would say is a good example of this is Gary Chuck. He doesn't particularly teach as much as he just. He just had a camera guy following him around d rock and he was just documenting every part of the journey on his team chop things up and that would be sources content, and then he would realize that now he's you're saying this like I don't have to think about all the content I need to produce because just living my life I'm being me he's being very authentic to himself. So in the very beginning, is there any way you can document especially if you become really really successful and people can see from the very beginning there like Even more. It doesn't matter how crappy your video your equipment is how bad you sounded the beginning while people are going to appreciate the raw ethnic you and then they're gonna see your journey another continue to follow you because they're interested in senior story people. Dave Chapelle said people don't follow comedians because they're funny. They follow comedians because they're interesting and so how can you be interesting? You document your journey, you get stronger and stronger don't give up an I feel at that point success has given. So yeah, and what you'll find is throughout your journey. Joe Come through a lot of things that can help you become expert without you realizing as he had a bigger audience, you may be asked to be interviewed on other podcasts. He will may want to interview. You may end up doing speeches at conferences. All these things will help brand your salt and make you be seen as experts, but it doesn't happen overnight and when I look at companies like groove h q a lot of people don't know but they documented their journey and eventually became super successful Gary Banner Chuck was undoing Wine Library. TV. Back. In the day for so many years spitting wind. He wasn't like I know wind better than anyone else. He was doing a show until just telling people what they feel about. You know wine in how it tastes like I remember he was on Conan one time he's again this is how it tastes like a song with dirt try chewing Konin and stuff like that wasn't near just trying to be an expert who is more so distinct this is how it is. This is how I get to know why is this is how I relate to? Overtime people like Oh, Shit your expert. You know this? Really well, it wasn't because he's saying he's an expert he's documenting his processes tasting wine, and at the same time, other people start interviewing. Esam to speak our conference getting known. That's what really helped him up over the years as well. If you even look at Logan, Paul you look at Pudi Pie, you look at Casey Nights, lot of them. They are just kind of even Graham Stephan to he's actually Graham. Stephon Stephan Show where he reacts to things actually he teaches but the the other three people I talked about before again Casey nights that Logan Paul, these types of people they're just

States mull how to carry out Trump order on unemployment aid

"Payroll tax cut in the fall, one of President Trump's executive orders calls for employers to stop collecting the 6.2% employees pay into Social Security and Medicare. But the Wall Street Journal reports many employers are balking because it's just a deferral. The tax could still be owed at the end of the year unless Congress for gives it and there's no guarantee that would happen. We're waiting for the IRS to set formal rules before doing anything. Meanwhile, the whole package of executive orders also covering unemployment benefits is getting slammed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. This was breathtaking. We ignorant Andi. I think the president doesn't understand what his policies would require Garcetti on MSNBC, adding. This is a time that calls for no politics. And governors from both parties were struggling with the orders. My power reports Trump's order that economically battered states deliver billions Maurin unemployment benefits to jobless residence is being met with financial clarity. In a statement, National Governors Association Chairman Andrew Cuomo of New York and Vice Chairman Issa Hutchinson, the Republican governor of Arkansas, pointed to significant administrative burdens and costs associated with costs to implement the new trump unemployment insurance plan. Trump Says He Might Accept GOP Nomination at 'Great Battlefield of Gettysburg'

"You just think they come get any Wes And they? There is a man called Jeremy Diamond, who works for CNN covering the White House. And when the president announced yesterday that one of the locations where he may be giving his acceptance speech for the Republican nomination for the presidential election this November, this was the official quote unquote journalistic response. From CNN, Eric play video cut for And Pam. We've reported that President Trump is considering delivering his GOP nomination acceptance speech from the White House. But amid some criticism of that potential venue, the president is now floating another one. This time he's talking about the hallowed Civil War battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. That could be controversial to particularly because this is a president who has consistently positions himself as a defender of Confederate symbols and monuments to Confederate generals. Them. Yeah, that's a fair point to make. Tough. A fair point should I couldn't you know, I know I am an immigrant to the United States. I think I know my American history quite well, but remind, remind us sure which signed one and get his book. That's what's so great about that clip is, I don't think the reporter understood that it was an overwhelming union victory that the Confederacy was slaughtered in one of the most consequential. The battles in that entire ward to go and say that Gettysburg somehow this Confederate monument and no match to the Confederacy requires Either just monumental dishonesty or abject ignorance in stupidity.

7 Little Known Copywriting Hacks

"Welcome to another episode of Marketing School I'm Eric Su. Today. We are going to talk about seven little. No. In copywriting hacks and kneels GonNa Start I with any, you're gonna Homey Star I. Okay. So number one, what's funny is most people being by copy like, Oh, I want to be amazing like Ogilby for. Oh. I wish I can have my words to slow super smoothly from just like how Frank Kern does it. So the first copy I have for you is you don't need to be amazing writer the key to converting in getting people to renew your copying buying becoming a lead is actually answering What issue someone may have when on your landing or potentially buying, you answer those objections. A good example of this is you can use survey monkey hot, whatever you want type farm to survey people on your page, find out what issues they have an integrate those within your copy answered, their objections to suck at writing more conversions. All right number two. So when I'm writing I like using sentiment analysis tool, so you can just sent him an analysis, but put him whatever copy you have whether it's a headline or maybe it's Longer form thing, and you just dump it in there and basically score how positive or negative your content is an in general. If I'm trying to write an ad I wanted to be generally more positive. I. Don't like to induce too much fear. Yes. Fear is certainly one emotion you can tap into, but the Jenner I tried to look for positivity. So just go sentiment analysis tool. The third copy hacked that I have for you is all about showing the right copy at the right time. So for example, you have a Webinar may have copied that convinces people to watch your Webinar. If someone doesn't attend your women but registered you wanNA email him copies about the missing the Webinar. In the next, they can go and watch the Webinar if they watch the Webinar ended in by you can have copy answering. Answering objections on why most people don't buy and results would get the by your art service. So figure out what copy you need a in each place to maximize your conversions and have it there. It's not about how smooth you're right. It's about answering objections at the right time in the right place. Number four is create a swipe file. What I mean by that. If you are scrolling through Instagram, you're scrolling through facebook and. And you see in that stops you that is known as a pattern interrupt. So what you should do there is if you actually like the ad and if you think you can draw some inspiration from it, save it, you can save these ads, put him into a collection, and then from there, the beauty of that is you can refer back to these ads, and then you can draw without having to create something from. From scratch, if you see headlines that you like put him into a swipe file, you WANNA create a entire swipe folder where you just pull inspiration from and you don't necessarily need to try to reinvent the wheel here. You can go swipe dot co to try to pull more inspiration. They have great long-form landing pages and sales letters in there. Just don't try to do everything on your own draw from lean on other people. People right stat under shoulders, and you're going to be fine as Ogilby said, and this gets into number five. As we said, eighty cents of the dollar spot on the headline. So what I want you to do is come up with multiple headline variations, fair copy, and you want to try to figure out which headline resonates the most deal customer. You can either upload look like audiences Melissa onto facebook and run ads with. Different. Different headline variations see which one gets the most cooks. All right. Number six for me would be using the framework from breakthrough advertising. So breakthrough advertising still think it's a really great book and you can get it for about one hundred, twenty, five bucks now, I google it, and so here's the framework, the life cycle or from someone going from the top to the bottom when people interact with you, a customer interacts with you. You is usually start unaware, and then they become probably wear. Then they become aware of a solution than your solution, and then you can make an offer to them. So think about that, you can use DA right awareness, interest, decision action, kind of similar, but unaware problem where solution where your solution, and then you give him off i. that is basically how you take from top to bottom when you're trying to actually get the. The convert this framework actually provides to go in with a video can go in with a sales letter can go within a long form. Add. It works really well,

"To an ID stop? Is it almost like when they're drug sniffing? Where if they find they find or the? They sent the drug. They stop and set is kind of the same idea. If they're moving along and this, they sense the ID. They stop and sit at your we. So in training we trained the dogs to sit is called a passive alert. Find the find explosives. Change behavior where you know you see him. Turn their head. If you guys have dogs, you know Lauren. You've seen your dogs. Do it even on, you're like. What are you sniffing like? Got Their attention so to speak. She had changed behavior. Sit throw the ball. ooh, big deal, but that's not realistic in the field, so we were really working with the handlers on when you see that change of behavior. And you know it's an. An odor change behavior, not human chain that change behavior. Pull them back. Get him back because back that time there was a lot of pressure plates whole back away and then tell the. Guys to go up and that area. Who Cares if you're wrong? Maybe you jump the gun. Who gives a shit you know? A lot of curry, right a lot of times beyond the middle of nowhere. And, they would because at the time. al Qaeda was Using, a plan a bomb after a while move it to another spot, but humans no matter where you are a habit, so they would come back to the same spot. Over and over and over again. So the guys would. Market and then come back later and check and see if they. Maybe it was disturbed earth in the middle of nowhere. There's there's like shovel marks. You know that kind of thing that the dog picked up on so that stuff was real good, so they would just yeah we. They've just grabbed the leash and pull it back. Real quick and get the dog back to. Is this something that these teams like I don't WanNa say. Beg for but that but want. So reading the resource. Yeah, because right because you have I'm sure you've got teams that are I. D certified to go out and do recon to see the path ahead in what what routes are going to take and they they do their recon to find out if there's any a dis, but to have that resource in that tool in their toolbox, per se is s something. A lot of teams look for. Yet you know it's weird because. So the East Coast Teams when I met Matt and like two thousand ten two thousand eleven were. Year to two years into it Maybe three years into having dogs the West Coast teams when I went out to. In two thousand thirteen were only one year into it maybe so they didn't. They were even behind, but then. The command that team six command had dogs, and like two dozen nine. I think it doesn't eight maybe. But. One the marines have been using them for longtime army rangers use this shit out of dogs Yeah, but once accepted the understand what the dog can do. The Hell you WanNa Maher they want him there. That was my goal. My thing on the West Coast is I wanted to show the I I was assigned team won so I two dogs, two different platoons two different. Different platoon chiefs to different soap's and two different e od guys that they wanted things done differently so okay. We'll gear the training the way this individual tune wants to do it. Some of them had never had no idea what the dogs capabilities were and my goal especially on the workup, so show them. Hey, hey, don't don't don't stick your head in there put his hand. And it took a while, but once they get them. I've never met a guy that that was deployed. F those dogs. They're stupid and never heard that. I Miss Soda from from us, being on a fire truck or probably you in the police car. Were you know we have a thermal imaging camera? It's a tool for us to use and fire, but if we leave it at home, we still have our basic scope fall back on..

"Look at like a rich phoning in cross. Bet makes it look easy right Mike Era. Eric probably makes it look easy shit, train dogs right, but this man probably has an amazing capability in natural ability to work with animals right or else he wouldn't have. You wouldn't have been where you rat with these animals the one thing that I wanted to ask you. as I've been listening to some of your podcasts, and who your who you've talked to in. You taught you just a few episodes ago. You just talk to Mike to Saint Right. My Fat. Sing I, don't. Pronounce Tucson. And I'm familiar with him. Just not pronounces fucking. Schumer for that but I was wondering. Did you have any of the dogs that went in in got Daddy is I know that dogs were part of that mission if I'm not correct? nope. The dogs that I had one of 'em's name is Tyson. He killed in Iraq. the others name is Boris. He is now retired to believe as of this last year. The, I don't think there's a single dog left in the Kennel from when I was there rightly, so we're talking. Two thousand, thirteen, two thousand fourteen dogs years old at the time. Tyson you know at the time they were doing three or four deployments, and then retiring. You Know Tyson was a good dog that kept him and he did for five five or six on his last point in the ADA RPG. literally hit like swearing. Who but it's funny. The dog that went after Baghdadi. The vendor that sold the army. That dog in Germany is my vendor that I get dogged from. So his name is Milan Great Guy Milan. Send me pictures from when the dog was at his Kennel and everything like that, not really to prove that he was the guy, but he's proud of himself and then assurance last month. I thinks thinker couple of weeks ago that the army sent him an appreciation plaque. To his nice business which was. All dogs retire at. it depends. You know so like police dogs if we can get him up to about eight or nine years in service. That's pretty good. Usually don't last that long. Military Dogs Psych specially for special operations. They don't usually lasts that long. Because of TV is in brain, injuries and injuries and death, and all that concussion from the you know the fifty cows, and all that it takes its toll on the dogs. We would get them back from overseas. While I, was there and every once in a while you'd see a little. Kind of weirdness in. in it is like yeah, Dude. I was out with such and such unit quite a bit. Gunfights every everyday the takes its toll on humans and dogs for for police dogs. It's usually illness like cancer or some some injury if if they make you know. But when they retire, if they if they if they work eight or nine years when they retire they. Only got about a year to left, you know 'cause they're shepherds of Malan. Walls may be or ten eleven twelve years old at the most bigger breeds. Do you when you train them to do these special operations and we you know I, I wanNA talk about the police side of things too but since we're on kind of the special operations side right now, what are the? What are you training them to do? Sniff ID's. Yeah. That's their main thing is their knows We're doing an interview with We'll Chesney the Cairo handler from the Bin Laden. Were interviewing him Wednesday adjust read his book. He sent us an advanced linked to read his book, and he talks about even even with that seal team six. It was knows what they use. sure they trained to bite and everything, but route clearance was the big thing out in front of the of the team. The team would land on the Y maybe. Three miles away. And they would patrol to the X. on the way in the dogs out front, Sniffing Fridays. That was you know that's their main thing. What is so? Does the dog get.

"So since the last couple of episodes of the Michael Jordan documentary of come out Isaiah Thomas is getting absolutely shredded by Eric he's taking a lot of heat by everybody I mean it literally everyone is bombing on Isaiah Thomas and it isn't just I'd say it's seven primarily is sponsored by geico geico's introduced Isaiah the geico give and back fifteen percent the rest credit of the on bad car boy and motorcycle pistons policies for current right so and bill new Laimbeer customers at Leicester full policy and term Joe Dumars there's a guy go dot and com and slash guys give like back that for right info and eligibility you know they're seeing a lot of let's we start are off seeing with a lot Keith of in pushback California Keith so how are you here's the thing how you doing he thanks for having along me with the yeah they should take in the the time rest to call of what's his up man pistons teammates not a lot after I just they want to talk well I had badly one question lost about our to the bulls experience in the nineteen the whole round ninety one trip Eastern situation Conference finals and then they I have they a statement walked off or the two court about refused it also to shake the bulls hands okay one right it I is mean the sportsman it means like thing that to do the would be he to said walk that he over hadn't had a lawyer shake everybody's hand and all say that Hey great in the game training that in the you recovery know you know and nice all job that whatever your graduations there is everything anybody like that heard of and the president of that they just kind of walked properly off the court the eternity that's it is a long that that was in sixty the store they walk seventy off the court seventy five eighty percent whatever and the only thing that I've ever heard since is she was that like he feels oh that he's my god ready for I can't believe but balor it activities the again show the whack well that's hard of to sportsmanship believe look with Alex Smith and for I the can't Detroit even look Pistons at the pictures it is just let alone unbelievable watch the now videos normally and stuff I mean hard to believe that normally he would be playing football I mean I would do be you on that do same how side could and you know say I I know he's gonna and want I would be to do saying it and listen I know it's the the dot you greatest age challenge you gotta as well him ram just ram and what I his don't trainer care if you get your believes **** beat that he is okay ready just to call over there and reason why yeah I I just understand congratulate that everybody but the even guy if had you got let's the that's guy snarky I mean he's lucky stars well leg I I mean do yeah you know great the we job had to whatever go through and his like wife at taking least care be over of there on we and couldn't go over move there and be a no little bit no respectful I don't I'm believe all me for sportsmanship I understand that I end value of it and it very whatever highly in my and life it was me I but would I would choose to retire I do and all find that it kind of ironic but that's I do not find to say that it kind he's of not interesting ready for football activities how yeah it's him hypocritical you know and we even can his wife be was saying as much as really good article about his wife right who and was listen tremendous I've always throughout the been course on of this we the got other to find somebody side that of truly the S. love you because when things but when go every I hear it's most easy when people things go talk well about if you make a the ton of eighties money the starting quarterback and the nineties of the Niners the of NBA the Redskins in at the chiefs eighties or whatever and the nineties make was a tough ton of money but then all it of a sudden was life great changes in an instant it was and mean in this case and it was players with his leg hated each other you better make sure you have somebody well yeah there that that's what you know I hear you love about and the trust NBA and and obviously back his wife then was great I'm with gonna that use taking a close care of back them then but then you she also know twenty says look thirty at the other day years this ago is his NBA fight both all physically it was a completely mentally different game you obviously than emotionally it was if he wants the to contact get back in then the league and and try you to know play the Jordan I rules guess that's gonna be up and to him and but they're the physicality I just have a hard time and everybody was knowing just like what he went through are Hey E. against each other Y. would even they put himself the back hatred in that spot around the and way then it was be incredible a larger are displayed as we here keep her I just think that you know he well he then knows why he is this knows a what surprise happened to he you knows what he went through and why at the is end Isaiah of the day Thomas and at the the Detroit end of the day Pistons that says call walking an old off lady right on but Michael what happens Jordan is what happens if I get and hurt the again Chicago Bulls a you surprise know the to you he's also but if he isn't does this that what whatever happens the legal again was or not whether back he then does if he does okay this we he's paving can't to say pass the league was tougher one back minute then for and everybody hated each other I learned we can't about say players that and and that's then not criticize and also somebody for one not for shaking the veterans a team's hands after they got their **** kicked yeah I mean look out for his sake okay I we hope get he that gets what what everyone's it I sportsmanship hope that he can come back I understand and play sportsmanship and okay you know I'm how all to do for this excess it what and be I healthy am shaking I just their hands I look yeah he's absolutely got it always got I would a telephone have number but don't tell me the league was tougher what about help for you and grittier there along that and line is meaner back then and I mean then complain I'm not saying about I'm not this saying that he should now come back for like a lengthy okay career you had whatever no you idea know you have you well had absolutely in play no one problem year two years with if you feel like it players hang punching it up caller each other today in the mail from but the floor take is a there box any other right quarterback that that nobody's you can think getting of you know like we wait what was a who's a Dennis Rodman when Dennis Rodman bodied Scotty Pippen and warm down on the floor okay Colyer flagrant well it wasn't a basketball play usually show but about the way to send a message we're not complaining about that while complaining about all call March sure his hand that sounds a little soft coming from the people that say well the league was just different it was more physical and gritty or mean right I got take by the way this is the worst take of the history of sports it really is right the well the players now today they all like each other there's no hatred there's no tough this there's no way all these guys are soft the NBA's soft now are you kidding me what Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were best friends they were brushed so much respect for each other are you get give me a bowl with that players didn't hate each other yeah did they get competitive it points absolutely they did did they hate each other no the bulls in the pistons yeah they could hated each other okay Jordan even set that hate was real they hate each other to this day what they don't hate each other because they kept beating each other because of the rival the basketball rivalry they hate each other because don't fight all the time what was the real thing they would fight all the time so I I again it just I know were given Isaiah Thomas and all these Detroit Pistons players a lot of crap first not shaking their hands and just walking off the court and be an unsportsmanlike I just think it's very funny how you have absolutely no problem with the pistons punching people on the court you have no problem with how physical they were on the floor they were not making basketball plays the pistons the pistons were bullies that's what they were they were bullies on the floor okay but you don't have a problem with how physical we played you have a problem with well they didn't shake their hand at the end of the game stop it that to me is soft if you're gonna pretend to be all hard and pretended like the league was sold different back then this big noise about this are you serious well maybe I'm crazy I'm telling you okay was it I'm a guy in in my life I value sportsmanship I really do I'm ripped athletes that don't joke show sportsmanship okay if this was today's league okay if I didn't have some sort of garage for people you know in this segment I would be ripping Isiah Thomas to okay I don't I don't think it was right for Isaiah Thomas in the business to not shake the bulls fans I absolutely want up I'm not saying it's right I'm saying it's hypocritical of you to criticize him for it you're telling me that the league was more physical on mir and grittier and tougher but then the complaining about this that's a week to make that's weak and I understand that there's a difference between you know on this for us there's a difference between sportsmanship and skews me difference between us sportsmanship and like toughness and competitiveness I understand that but let's not pretend like that was something that was just soul lost that we did that like a give me a break sure so give me a break I I don't understand boy oh boy the NBA was way tougher back then stop it okay just stop yeah the passengers to throw Jordan around a little bit sure no problem with that seriously yeah I don't I don't understand the worst take in the history of sports that the NBA was career and meaner back then you know you just watched it back then that's when you fell in love with it and then you stopped because you got a job and then he came back and you watch it again and you saw lebron taking over you know like that yeah maybe a little bit less contact in today's in today's game but I'll be honest with the NBA's never been more popular just something to the NBA's doors working Jeepers creepers folks all right all right coming up next all right.

have an extra second or third then a bunch of fifteen six we need talent more than dept at this point I don't know where I don't know all right talent more than death uhhuh I mean death may be all you can get well if you might make a move we're good only got to wear a ten win team Erica's pointed AT much more are in a much more ticket manner he's pointed out we unite been talking about for the last five minutes yeah they have an extra second or third degree making eat immediate impact that a bunch of fifteen six rounders higher picks are more probable to contribute just because they're bigger stronger faster can jump higher there just bigger physical specimens that's why these got and say what you want that's why scouts go out look at these guys that's why at the combine we've all seen the picture Tom Brady a thousand times you stand there in your gym shorts they wanna get their eyes on this guy what's he look like getting off the bus in a suit forget about what he looks like in a in a uniform what's that guy look as he and NFL body I want to look at and see and then they get amount run around the city and that turned heads up and get some direction in the six right it does that's we'll get some get you draft the six rounds right because I'll tell you what you walk and because I told the story thousand times eight I had no trouble exceeding expectations in my career because get the job one look at me and is like like yeah whose little brother is that got like why are you in the locker room on game day right they didn't think I was even a player so I could I could always exceed expectations because the bar was really low the bar gets really high when you see these guys come in from all around the country and they walk in there doing verticals they're walking around they look like pro athletes they get invited to this thing because they're impressive and they ask outs want to see him we are motivated by that when you play sure about that like that really wasn't I have a chip on my shoulder because I'm I live like that I mean I was a you know which are I was the youngest of four brothers I grew up being that kid you know and just Santa Ana it just not caring what you thought because I knew you know I can and I knew I was limited when I was it coming up through the ranks in college and I worked really hard to get a strong enough I thought that was my whole thing I thought I knew I was fast but I had to get I will I wait a Buck forty five as a freshman in college right right I mean I and I was a little scrawny white kid from a farming community OD from no place right from the from field some of the hayseed so I knew what I look I so I knew I had to make myself look as strong as thick as I could even just get past that the step form like that coat they wouldn't let me run let alone do it so I started some I was junior community college route got wrecked in it and put together some numbers there and some film and that got me the point where they saw me on film then they could got me the point where they get past you know taken one look at me don't anybody and even that it did anybody besides northwestern give you a second look northern Iowa okay western Kentucky okay in very late after I decided to go to northwestern very late I got a call from cal but that was when Joe cap had just got hired as their head coach and they did they were just looking for bodies you know and I was like I'm already I said I don't what white we're off on a tangent here why did you choose northwestern highest level okay the big ten yeah highest level because nor you northern Iowa was in in you know is it in my own of their division one they might be division I can't remember now but they played indoors up and up and Waterloo Iowa right and then I went to school there Kurt Warner and bright spot okay and Kurt Warner made of yeah and then western Kentucky what's Kentucky down Hilltoppers at and and and and I would have gone there and played but I'd had a chance to play in the big ten once you know in Michigan Ohio state plane horseshoe playing the big house I was injured both I never got but I played against him at home but I never got a chance to claim and on the road so it yet that's why I went there and I had I had enough L. scouts come in they get into town they'd and that's it was different back then I never got invited to combine get the word on a Friday and say on Tuesday this coming week they're going to come and look at you coach for the snub DHEA scout from Seattle or the scout from Denver the scout from canton whatever and I say okay not just show up and be ready now for and I'd walk I'd walk in and I could tell right away they were like we made a big mistake what like what times my flight into like I get out of there did you work out with other northwestern potential pros most of the time yeah most of the time but you could tell when they got a look at you there like No Way Out I tested really well yeah and they would have me run it again to make sure they weren't and again and again what a great story this is did you ever ask the Houston Texans why they drafted you in this seventh round nine three nine did you ever asking you who is responsible for that pick bill bell was the the scouts name I believe I got his name right and you know I tell yeah it might have been because that Hugh Campbell as their head coach and they hired you Campbell from the Canadian Football League and they were used to seeing guys like me okay they could play and they they weren't as adverse to it and they were and they said they had been drafted three guys my year that we were all just alike was me my could coup and built Willie jury who went on to have nice nine year career to for around the league so yeah there were all three and we're all alike we're all short guys that were fast what great story one just listen this all day and Steve I I know what I'm being told to shut up I feel like I should write this book Steve story and now have you written a book I know you read the book but it was it was a story about the team yeah fun we had about your story you should sit down there's a lot of guys you got worse than me I don't know if I catch you what do you do what come on only knows the grindstone to hockey games a week nope if you can play on it at bed time to call out Hey out let's take some phone calls when we come back what should the bills draft philosophy be this year's should change from the way it's been give us a call eight oh three oh five fifty toll free one eight eight eight five fifty two five fifty we got that brown coming up we got she'll Cup pod year coming up.

"Eric. He does Eric bowling's America on blaze TV three soon to be four days a week. And and is is with all of the players in Washington knows them. Can you give me any perspective? I want to touch on this real quick. Then I want to get to something else. But he dropped. We can we get them back while the deals over already. God how K saving you can get him back. I want to ask him about the border wall. And then we did we schedule them for their. He is okay. Hey, eric. How are you? I'm good. How are you? Good. I wanna talk to you about one quick thing. Politics. Get something more important the border wall. It looks like now we are. We're we've we've caved on shutting the government down. Does the president have another plan? Like, he's talked about building it through the Pentagon or what's the plan on the border wall? Yeah. We can talk about I I think he's going to build his wall one way or the other. I agree that he can't cave on on. Actually, I wish he would not have caved on making Mexico pay for it. I think that that's still has to be part of it some ways, but we just we just said we're going to give them five billion dollars. I mean, we could have given the border construction people five billion dollars, but we gave it to Mexico. Yeah. Well, listen, I I'm this is one I think he has to hold. I think this is one he has to figure out before you know, before reelection campaign. But it's something if he ks on this. It's gonna be okay, Eric, can I talk to you about something, and you can feel free to say, no. And we can move on. But you said something to me when we did our podcast, and you were very open and honest, and I didn't follow up on it. Because I felt that I had put you through the ringer enough. Personally. But I think in this holiday season, if you would address it, I think it would be enlightening. You told me that not only did your your Sunday the day he died, but your faith did as well. We can talk about that. You were a guy who went to church if I'm not mistaken every day six days six days. Yeah. I went five days a week at when I got to to to work, I go over Saint Patrick's and on Sunday. I went every Sunday, and it was many for ten years. I went six days a week. And now you say you don't have the last day. I went to church was that day. Friday. And are you what's your relationship with God? What's what's your what's happening? It's it's complicated. I'm I'm I'm I'm trying to figure and still trying to figure it out. I believe is prime many people do that. You know, you're good person you go to church. You you sacrifice. Do the right thing. Be charitable be honest. Take care of people. You know, I can't tell him becomes a pullover to cancel an umbrella. I mean, I was just so in in in in the hopes of. Some cyclists. Maybe it's a it's not a right. It's not the correct way of thinking. But in hopes of having some sort of protection against something catastrophic is is what happened to me. I, you know, I lost my son and night. My career was kinda ended in my faith and same day. Still still working it out. So do you you still believe in God? Or is it a kind of I'm I'm angry or I don't know who you are. Or I reject you. What what where are now? It's it's not an I reject you. It's it's. Anger. If if I believe it's hanger, and if if I don't believe anymore. It's. What if I died, I wasted all this time? And I don't know. I'm I'm I'll be honest with you. I don't mind being honest with you. In public. I don't know. I I don't know where I am. Are you are you pursuing this or you just letting it settled till things calm down. No. I I mean, it it. But in the really strange thing about this. This loss is either you think about things like what happens if I lost this person who dapper. A loss of this magnitude now, I don't think there is a big a greater loss in the world. And losing a trial an only child you get thrown into a depth. That's literally inexplicable. So the worst thing you could ever possibly the low. The most worst feeling ever think you could feel multiply it by a million. It's such a devastating whole what you're doing. It's literally a daily struggle just to make it out just to just to see that there is a light. And so to start take tackling the big issues like where's my face? I need my wife, and I both need need to hear like I do the opioid tour, and she can't go because she it just breaks her apart. Just you know, seeing a picture. And so it breaks me apart to like last night. I didn't tell me that there's a picture of Eric chasing. I in in the middle of the show, and it just popped up almost derailed all show. So I it's still up. I didn't have here in DC for for opioids. And as a keynote speaker, I got there, and they're rolling pictures, and I didn't know their own pictures of of Eric, and I I couldn't even speak. I couldn't do that. I was in tears and so anyway. Arrogant. It's a daily struggle. May we all pray for you and your wife? Thank you. Try to enjoy the Holiday Inn. And I just there's no there's no enjoyment. I mean, I it's called Nicotrol. That's what it literally. But. So may you make it through the prayers? God bless you. Eric, thank you. Thank you so much. That's great. I mean, that's that's brave to talk about Mike that I mean, that's that's really. That's really incredible. I can't even imagine what that guy's gone through. I think I don't think any of us know how we would react. Now, it's easy to say lyric. That's when you need your fate. That's when sure but no, none of us know how we're gonna react. And if we deny that people would struggle with a situation like that, it's even to their level of the core of their faith. Ben, we're letting people down because when this does happen to people on a does, this is a very honest process. Like, this is how you're gonna feel. I I mean, I I haven't had to deal with something like that. And in my head. I know that if something like that happened. I you have no choice. I think to question everything that you've assumed about life. Hopefully, you come back to you know, or you're able to get to the right place. I really prayer does as well. And I think you know, he's gonna. Have his own journey on that. And that's tough. But I mean to be able to come out and talk about that in front of people, and it's difficult. You can tell it is for him. That is really important. I, you know, that's that's a really brave act for him to do not only what he just did on the air. But also with opioids and everything he's doing around the country, really important stuff really brave and incredibly difficult. He's doing that extreme personal sacrifice. His so honest, if you missed the if you missed the interview that I did with him for a podcast. I think you'll probably find it on YouTube now that's her. Yes. Certainly available. Yeah. And watch it. Because this is the first time he really opened up on a national platform about the death of his son, and it was incredibly brave and incredibly raw. And he is obviously a man who is is going through a gigantic change in his life. And cannot see the blessings yet. But most of us can't when we're when we're in that. Ruin in that space. He he it was brave of him to say, you know, I kind of looked at my faith differently. I kind of looked at my service differently and nowhere, really. Is that promised that? I mean Jesus. You know, it seems like all of the good guys always get killed one way or another. You know, he look at all of the martyrs that that. You know, just stood. And we're we're saying, no, no, no, no. I think you should read the bible in your own language. I don't think you should have to have it in Latin and go to a priest because you can't read Latin burned at the stake. All these really great people that lost their lives, all of the apostles. Look at the stoning of Stephen. I just so funny. I just read a story last night of. Of a guy who survived the Chicago fire. And it wiped his family out, and they were just getting back on their feet and decided to go to Europe for a vacation with the family. This is like one thousand nine hundred three or five something like that. And the dad has to stay. But he said, I'll meet you over there. So the mom and their four children their four daughters are on this on this boat and its it hits another ocean liner in the middle of the ocean, and it syncs, she lives and the children die, and she just she just wires to him. When he when she arrives in France. She wires back to her husband. I survived alone. I don't know what I'm going to do. He gets onto a boat. He goes over. He gets her. Nassar crossing the ocean. The captain says this is where it happened. The captain marked in his journal that he knows they never looked down to the sea. They looked up and they came back to Chicago. They had two other children one died at three one died at seven there. Pastor said you're being punished you've done something wrong. So they just surrender completely. They moved to Israel. And they start just helping people. I they they go into World War One. And they just start helping people anybody who's wounded doesn't matter. What side it's on. Then they moved to Israel, and eventually they build the children's hospital that is still serving people today. And it doesn't matter if you're Arab or you're Jewish or you're Christian the policy of the hospital is you have to have help. And they're there. I I don't know how people survive. But it's a very delicate dance. With with God of being able to. Let it go. Without forgetting it's so difficult, but letting it go, and knowing that there is some reason. And it's a good reason that these things happen to us. And my prayer for Herrick and anyone else that is struggling. Is that you will hear the words. It's okay. All is. Well. Everything is good. Everything is as it should be. Our puny little human brains cannot wrap around the idea. Of tragedy being good. But in the end. If you can let it go and let it shape you in positive ways. Look at what Eric is doing. He's going to save lives. That's a positive that has come out of this. Back in a minute. When.
