"That's all it is to him. And so i think that that's his reasoning in this. And that's returning evil. Because i mean you know gotta go. Back to the batman saying justice not vengeance point so later on after more lying and manipulation. Eric comes to conduct with the deg. Claw claiming to be an ally but really coming as an enemy after eric warns them of the coming attack and he reactivates the drone so he can look like a hero. He's then awarded the mantle of black panther and given the herb is Any afterlife senior. Whatever that we're playing. I don't know where that that is a. He meets the spirit of the murder. Challah and kill monger tries to justify his actions but the cia says that his unearned power will catch up with him eventually. What do you think eric's end goal here. Is that you kind of mentioned it a little bit. Is he going to try to kill the king. He want to rule wauconda. Is there something else. This is point plan. Maybe changed because of what's happening in this episode. Or do you think he's still on the same path. I think that that he accomplished his plan in this. I think that he wanted to take over conduct. He is the black panther now. He's taken over kanda. He's not the king i do. I do wonder if we see that in the future. But i didn't ever since that's one of the weird things about this version of of the story is i never really sensed this this hatred for the king. Yeah in this. Which is the king is the one that kills his his dad. Yeah and so. I kept expecting for that moment to happen. I almost thought it was going to happen during the big battle. I thought that it was sort of. He would kill him in them. Make it look like robot. Yeah that's what i was expect. Something else happened in that. Never that never occurred was definitely an unexpected element. Yes definitely. I think that it's just i think he has accomplished mainly what his goal is going to be. I'm not sure if he wants to kill the king that's ever really been discussed. And he had no reason to think that in black panther because king was already dead and his goal was to become black panther. Which was that..

We certainly appreciate you guys but here in segment number two. We're talking about news notes across major league baseball and the big news. That broke here on wednesday night. Is that the tampa bay. Rays have agreed to a multi. Year extension with eric neander. They named him president of baseball operations promoting him from his previous title of general manager slash senior vice president and this obviously ensures that their top baseball operations official will remain in tampa bay and eric end are arguably the smartest guy in all of baseball. The top executive in all of baseball. I mean just looking at his resume. He's currently thirty eight years old but began his tenure with the raise as baseball operations in. Turn all the way back in two thousand and seven. He was hired full time later that year. And it's worked with tampa bay ever since so this guy's been there for going on fifteen years now. This is his fourth season as the organization's top ranking baseball official and during that time he's overseeing the creation of a roster that once again is the best in the american league i mean. They made it to the world series. Last year. They turned over quite a few people on the roster and here they are once again looking to get right back to the world series at home field when it comes to the american league so neander obviously said it's a blessing and dream opportunity for him. There's been plenty of mistakes. Misfires along the way but also a lot of wins and just looking at him. Once again the race had four straight losing seasons from two thousand fourteen to two thousand seventeen then promoted eric. Neander to general manager baseball operations. And what's happened since then. Well they won ninety games in two thousand eighteen in two thousand and nineteen. They reached the american league division series and then in two thousand twenty obviously made it to the world series and right back in twenty twenty one looking at their third straight postseason appearance with an american league. Best eight hundred and fifty one record and the top run differential. So they've also done this while losing executive after executive under eric neander. I mean who did they lose. Well they lost andrew friedman to the dodgers and the dodgers now have one of the best run organizations at the major league and minor league level. They lost higham bloom to the red sox. The red sox right back into under higham bloom go from a team under five hundred. Bring alex score back now. Once again at the top of the american league east right there in the wild card they also lost james. Click to the astros. The astros ben very good for the last five years. So anybody who works under eric neander now goes elsewhere and those teams are fantastic. So people have been trying to get neander outta tampa bay for years. Now here in philadelphia. All you do is hear his name with ownership with general manager being open before dave dombrowski came in. Can we get neander. We should've hired. I am bloom if we can't get neander. Hire whoever's working for neander because it's worked everywhere else. Friedman dell a bloom red sox i it's just it's a factory down there have had to efficiently run a roster because not only is is the major league level team excellent they keep calling up these kids and the minor league system still ranked. Sixth neander was named executive the year in two thousand nine hundred. He's gotta be in the running here again in. Twenty twenty one. I mean recently calling up. Shortstop wander franko and other several top prospects instill having the best system here in all of baseball so it is just absolutely fascinating. What he's been able to do down there in tampa bay. I mean throughout the course of his career as tenure. He's traded away guys like evan longoria. Chris archer blake. Snell willie adamas and anytime it seems. Oh well they're going to finally sign this guy to long-term in big money he just flips them out for more prospects. Chris archer going to pittsburgh for shane. Baz tyler glass. Now and austin meadows de looks completely one sided he. He acquired mike zeno for the mariners..

They'd but she chose not to break the cycle and she chose to stay that way. Heather was three years. Old and eric was one when they adopted out two different families. But in a strange quirk heather and eric ended up in the same small town. They were aware of each other but they were largely kept apart to be three years old and walk down the street have a a town with maybe four hundred people in it and be told us not your brother tough. We were only allowed at each other's houses on birthdays. We had a lot of good birthdays. Heather became aware of jason. Because he would call her adoptive mother to check up on her. I heard her on the phone with my brother once. And that's when she brought out my baby book and she told me all about my option and my mother and my father and she asked me. If i would feel better if i met my brother and my grandmother and i of course of course i would love to see my mother or my brother and my my grandmother. The stipulation was my birth mother. Cindy not be there at the eleven heather. Got the chance to get reacquainted with jason. She was allowed to stay with and his grandmother. For two weeks austin p. Were supposed to be out of town. You know that's my brother. And we got to hang out and we that to make you know fudge together and learn about each other and laughing record doctor. Who and giggle all about. It was fantastic. Hamilton this reunion with jason felt long overdue. But it wasn't the only reunion heather would have. I was there maybe twelve hours before my mother walked through. The door was raised in a very past home and she gave me books on wicca and paganism and A shock grows and lay brother freaked out dewsbury protective of me as hendrickson more about her birth family. She began to see cynthia or cindy as she sometimes calls her in a very negative light. Remember how scindia said that. Jason would live with her until he got mad at her then went to his grandma's constantly playing them off each other in a manipulative way. Heather says the truth was.

You still have to wear your mask on the subway, but I don't believe you have to wear your mask anywhere else. I can go in and out of restaurants and stuff without a without a mask. Now that we're at 70% Joe down in South Carolina has been doing this months before we in New York have been able to do it so We do. We will join you and being open Joe. Welcome. Welcome to the world. Of all these dams. Uh, we we all favor. Eric ends right. He's the best of he's the best of this lot. Now I'm starting to have my doubts. The Joe played another sound bite, where he called himself Eric Adams. He's gotta stop. Well, he's gotta stop calling himself in the third. Come on. Third person is this is we're going to bust him for that. When he comes up we are agree with. I'm going to tell them to knock it off. Knock it off, Eriks. That's right. Be humble. Like we are on the show. So then then I'm sure he'll come back and visit us was his mayor, if we like criticized the hell out of of this wedding Right? You don't wanna miss our interview with Eric Adams 7 35. I really want to hold his feet to the fire about bringing back stop question and frisk because he was once, uh, vocally against it. But now he's kind of changed his tune on that nowadays. Oclock. Dr Gregory Poland of the Mayo Clinic will be here taking your covid questions from the doctor Gregory Poland Hotline and Kyle McShane, Our buddy from the Fox Business Network. He is in Geneva. Standing there outside the garage awaiting the big summit. He will be here with us at 8 35. And, uh, yeah. Big show Big also Greg Jay and Grant. We like him. He's the career advice columnist. Video Post. He will be here at 9 35. Jeez, I sound like this morning, Jo Jo. Well, I was just gonna say, Joe, you're always criticizing me when I mentioned who's coming up on the shows that well, and I love when Michael opens the show, because when land does, he's always mentioning Who's coming up on the show? Well, what did Reno just do Their Joe? Come on. I don't hear your pipe. But up. I I was believe me, it was. I thought there was a little bit of substance in his open as opposed to as to me. No substance in my openings. I'm glad I'm glad I mentioned it. You put a little colour into the Biden story here. By the way, your office expert. You gotta ask him about the the CEO from Morgan Stanley. Basically, yeah. You want New York pay work in the New York office. Do that, Lynn You hear that, Joe? Oh, wow. With us. Did you hear that? Joe? Least I'm in New York State, Joe Fair. Thank you. Thank you very much. Who led flat and Joe? Whoa. That was a good clean. Kill them. Congratulations, but I'm ready to walk away. Well, you've been what you've been saying that for two years. What are your father going to follow through with that? I have a feeling, Joe. You're not the only one who is prepared to walk away. If everyone has to go back to the office, you know, I'm beginning to think them And we will talk to Greg. Uh, Jean Grand. Uh, And as land would say, Greg will be here at, uh, it'll be here. I mean, is one with don't you? Hello Here. Let me ask you two knuckleheads a question. If if someone were interested in office politics and what's right and wrong, wouldn't they want to know what time the guest is coming up? Are you going to make them listen to the whole four hours? No one's gonna listen. The whole show. She got to tell them when the guest is on. Well, okay. Lynn. Leave that human because you're the expert in the area. But what's wrong with you, too? That's unbelievable. It's a surprise. We don't we're not going to tell you what the guest is coming up because we want you to be surprised. Alright, Here's the thing then. I'm beginning to suspect as companies. Uh Oh, look over the work fleet and think about reopening. I think more and more companies are going to require people to go in the office for a while. We have this theory that oh, all work is going to be changed and people will work from wherever they want to work. And, uh, employees, employers are going to be flexible and all this kind of stuff. I don't think so. I think they want people back in the office that way. You know what Everybody's doing, you can look out of their destiny. Sure they're doing their job. And do you like that kind of creative energy that comes from people being together in the room, So I think more and more companies are going to require workers. To be in the office. I would imagine by you by labor Day, especially if you know, God forbid we have another new strain of the virus or something like that. That forces us to reevaluate that stuff. So tell me about tell me you're getting about that creative energy that's going to exist when you and I are in the studio together. Well, well, I'm not. I'm gonna be honest with you. And I don't think we could have pulled this show off working from our homes. Had we not spent two years together every morning in the studio. We develop chemistry. We develop affection for each other rhythm, all those kind of things that was already in place before we had to go work remotely. I don't know if it would show would have been as good if we hadn't had two years under our belt together every morning, huh? Okay, Good. What's coming up in 9 40? Yeah, I'm not sure about great chemistry. Well there there's an example of it right there. Don't you agree? Lend you don't agree. Okay, Well, I don't know. You know who knows anymore? Um, it's it's a different world. I I think I think you're right. I think some employers will say get back to the office. But others might say you know, the hybrid works, you know, work a few days from homework a few days in the office, you know, I'm talking about. You know, the Typical office worker, does he? He or she has to be there five days a week. Every week. I don't know. You know, we're in a different situation. We're doing a creative radio show or At least a radio show creative, maybe the wrong word that may be a stretch to say There's creativity evolved. But you know, Natalie producing a radio show is not the same as some person, um, working in a desk shop. Right, Natalie. Hello. Good morning. Are you with us? I'm totally here. I'm listening to you guys. The love. It's just amazing between the two. It is great. It's amazing madly. You're going to march on the ticker tape parade for all you Indispensable workers have gone to the office. I'm going to be on a float and be waving race that Natalie gets their own flows to miss this. W O r Natalie Becca get a sash. At least you got a sash to wear across this w o r D are always wanted a tiara. Sierra and a sash sit above them. I'll get my wave down from that's right. Yeah, you get the big wave parade wave right? Correct. Chris Joe makes a good point. Who the hell is going to show up for that ticker tape parade? I mean, who's going to wave to you? I mean, it's great. He's going to be there. Yeah, well, my wife said he was going to throw shock out a window. What's the point of that? I mean, then I said, Well, it might not be a lot of people in the windows, so I don't know. I mean, nobody's gonna be just I have to laugh because You know, Uh, DiBlasio announces a parade on July seven. So what is quote we'll do. We're going to shoot off fireworks. You know, it's de Blasio third over to you, Bill. Isn't it? Something amazing? Yeah, it really is that those two clowns.

"Freakonomics radio. Here's your host, Stephen Dubner. Today. We're talking with the journalist and psychologist Maria Kondakova, whose new book, The Biggest Bluff, chronicles her journey to become a professional poker player. So the story The main story in the book begins Really with your pursuit of a coach Eric Seidel, who's a great famous poker player and backgammon player. Tell us briefly about that. Had you considered perhaps people before him? So Eric ended up being my first choice. And he was my only choice because he said yes, but I did do research and I did look at a number of possibilities before settling on Eric. But tell us what he had or represented that made him the mentor. You wanted. He had a few different characteristics. First longevity. There's actually no comparison between him and any other player in terms off staying at the top of competitive poker. For decades and most people they have kind of this peak, and then they go away. The other component was that he seemed more old school in the sense of being more psychological, more thinking in his approach rather than ah, lot of the newer poker players who while brilliant, are Very mathematically minded, and they have just a very calculation ALS approach, and that's not my background. Okay, But at this point knowing how to play poker was not among your skills. Why was it that poker captured your attention? I was originally introduced to poker through game theory through the work of Jon Bon Norman as I was reading about luck and kind of immersing myself in the world of chance, and how to think about chance. I read John von Norman's theory of games, which is the foundational text of game theory. And I didn't know much about a Norman or his work, and he loved poker. Correct. Yes, he was just an avid poker player, and he hated the games. By the way, he hated roulette. He hated chess. He hated go. He thought that they were boring because they were either solvable or unsolvable. And he looked up for a second. So you're saying he hated roulette, and he hated chess. Hmm. And on the spectrum of information those air at opposite ends of the spectrum. Exactly. So talk about that. And what it was that he was looking for what it was that he didn't like about those MMA Norman was drawn to poker because it was a game of incomplete information. There was a solvable component to it, but there was always an element of the unknown. And he was working at the time as a national security advisor in the United States government he was working on the hydrogen bomb. I mean, this is someone who was involved at the very highest levels of decision making, and when he saw poker, he said. This is a good analog for that, because it's a game of incomplete information. Chess is boring because it can be solved. There is theoretically always a correct move and roulette is boring because it can't be solved. It's all chance the House wins. You know, there's nothing you can do. Hooker is interesting because we can try to find a framework to develop a solution. How to think through it. And yet it's not solved in the sense that there are deeds, elements of the unknown on this acumen element of bluffing of kind of representing and misrepresenting information. This is what decision making in the real world is actually about. That was the germ of game theory, so he came up with game theory as a way to Try to solve poker and then ultimately shuttle light onto how to make these very complex strategic decisions on at the highest levels of government. Baby baby Poker isn't a homogeneous game. There are multiple varieties of play with names like stud Omaha, Raz, but do G and horse Each has its own unique set of rules. But in any style of poker, the basic parameters are essentially the same. Some cards are dealt face up, visible to all. These are the community cards and some face down. So that on Lee, the person to whom they're dealt can see them. You make bets based on how strong your hand is and how strong you think others hands are Because the on Lee other cards you know, for sure are your own. You're in a game of incomplete information. You must make the best decision you can given the little you know. The style I've chosen to pursue is one particular variant of the game, which happens to be the most popular No limit Texas Hold'em. How no limit hold'em differs from other forms of poker is twofold. The first is in the precise amount of information that is held in common versus in private. Each player is dealt two cards face down the hole cards. This is privileged information. I can try to guess what you have based on how you act, but I can't know for sure. On Lee. Information I'll have is your betting patterns. Once the public information the cards still to the middle of the table face up is known. The amount of incomplete information in Texas Hold'em creates a particularly useful balance between skill and chance. To hole cards is just about us practical ratios. You can have enough unknown to make the game a good simulation of life, but not so much that it becomes a total crapshoot. The second thing that distinguishes this particular playing style is the concept of no limit, but Norman's own preferred style. The power of the Pure Bluff is restricted in a game of limit, explains Amarillo Slim, one of the best poker players of his day. When there's a limit, it means that the exact amount you bet has a ceiling on it. And no limit. You can bet everything you have at any point. And that's what makes this game a particularly strong metaphor for our daily decision making. Because in life there is never a limit. What's to stop you from risking all your money? Your reputation, your heart, even your life at any point you choose..

A full pardon despite openly violating the Hatch Act, which prohibits government officials from using public office for campaign purposes by turning the White House into a political convention stage. "Have enforcement, many or probably none or not enforcing, and you know riding warning tickets and things of that nature to make sure that our businesses are following the rules and many of them are, but some of them. Are Not in the goddess that we have in place. Will Suffice if people will. Will you know just follow the guidance that we have in part of the the guidance? Even though it's not mandated, is to wear masks, it works if you're going in a public place or a place, it's GonNa be crowded where your mask. If you're going out to eat this, keep your mask on until you get to your table. Your table is going to be socially distance from other tables. Your servers going to have a mask on, and that will really work to help. Stop the spread, but even with ask. The virus can spread so social distancing is the best thing that you can do. and we shouldn't have that mandates here for people to do the right thing. You never got mandates on speed limits. If people break them everyday, you know nobody was worried about the social distancing mandates or the large gathering ban that we still have a fifty people when the protests were going on and and you know I understand why I was in that. That same camp as well, but we also. You know we've got to be realistic. When when you have that scenario playing out, nobody's saying anything. It sends the bestest everyone else that it's free. Rein out there and is is just not. We're going to have to live. Learn to live with the virus which we are hospitals have done that. Are Doctors offices that done that, but we also have to not only protect the lives of our citizens, but that livelihood you think about the. I mean literally you know the reason that we're holding where we are. I believe we start shutting down again to lose restaurants forever. We're GONNA. Lose a lot of small businesses forever and that economic toll is going to be devastating on our school budgets on our healthcare budgets on our social services budget when you think about lined AIDS or disabled Medicaid and other programs, so we've got a balance, both and that's what we're doing every single day twenty four seven. Well shifting gears, the president is coming in to talk about traffic and infrastructure. He's going to cause a traffic jam to come talk about traffic, I seventy, five and the rest I. If you wouldn't mind, give us an overview of of what's going on today. Well hopefully it won't be a traffic jam today. I was glad to see flying it and Hartsfield Jackson and blind, either so I. Don't think they're got to move them around so metro commuters will be happy about that. But. He's really coming to an ounce as he's been doing through his whole administration. That is cutting red tape. And he's doing it today on these transportation projects. When I was reading a little bit about what he's doing today. You had a six page bill that that created. This, you know basically the legislation that he's going to be talking about today, and then you had forty pages of rules that have been written and I typically what happens especially in Washington DC? Pass a bill, and then you have bureaucrats start writing the rules and the rules, Eric End up being tax basically because it takes lawyers and consultants and a host of people just to get initial permitting done and what the president's doing today is these cutting? Cutting the red tape, he's still going to allow for environmental reviews, but he's just going to speed the process up and basically put a shot clock on that process like an NBA shot clock, or you know college basketball shot clock that will speed projects which will allow us to do them quicker, and as you know during the great recession during the Obama Years I mean. We felt way behind on transportation infrastructure projects. This'll help us. Catch up and it'll be a priority for us. one good example. Is the truck lanes.

"Yesterday was the Austin Atheist Day celebration and it was supposed to take place on the steps of the capital But we cancelled our event. They're even before the capital shutdown. We switched to an online format so once atheist experience is done for the day. We'll be playing the two hour collected clips of that And also that video is already up at went live yesterday at noon On a sister channel and mark has link-up for that channel as well. It's basically the Atheist Community of Austin Speaker series so It's youtube dot com slash atheist community of Austin is the primary channel interview are very liked and subscribed to atheist experienced You can go there and like subscribe to that and you will get the videos from the speakers as well. But we're GONNA air it kind of as a a special afterwards. Because I do a quick introduction there which will explain what happened but we also have Mandy so Thomas Andrews and Arn raw and I gave a talk but also Jannine v and Dan and Christie. And Charlie and Daryl and mom gosh who am I gonNa Forget Thomas Westbrook and Eric ends it. I think I think got all of them. Two hours of little short speeches between a couple of minutes maybe fifteen minutes each and so you have thoughts from each one of us about you know why atheist as important what you know goals emissions were working for. I'm glad that you both still did atheist day. And you made the adjustments before there was actually abandoned place on large gatherings. I'm glad that the ACA took it upon itself to say we're not going to be a part of getting people together right now yeah. Aca is currently a DEFCON Three three Defcon two we go down to. Nobody's allowed in the building except the crew and all hosts will be remote and Defcon one. We just stopped producing content We're hoping we don't get there but you know watching what's happening and I'm optimistic that maybe were getting ready to turn a corner on testing treatment. I've been pretty much self quarantine at my house for the last week. Yeah I was going to go. I was actually going. Leave the country for my first time and go to Europe. My trip would've ben two days from now That for obvious reasons has been canceled but I already got that time approved off of work so I figure might as well kind of quarantine while Canyon do what I can to slow that curb because a lot of people are misunderstanding. That the biggest reason why. We're trying to like flattening. Curve is just because something like eighty percent of us and I don't have the exact number but a large number of people are going to end up getting the virus and it's just it's important that we don't all get it at the same time because that would overwhelm our healthcare system and already kind of starting to see that in New York. It looks like they're starting to make arrangements for temporary hospitals. And you know we have to come up with plans on how we're going to get more ventilators and all of that stuff so do what. You can't just slow down. You might get it but I try not to get at the same time as everyone else. Yeah and I've been playing Do Maternal which came out on the twentieth Straight streaming that So for those people who aren't aware I guess maybe I never mentioned it here But I stream live on twitch and I've had twitch channel for like five years and every day somebody new comes in and goes holy crap. It's mental Donnie streaming games and. I didn't know you were Gamer. Yes I'm a Gamer. I was quick ninety-seven Iran the number one counter strike team in the United States. I am a hardcore. Gamer of both first person shooters and RPG's and some platforms but also boardgames index games. I fucking Love Games. Yeah and I will play the hell out of him and so a corn teens are really good opportunity. I think I stream do maternal for about seven hours yesterday which is a a middle of the road stream from me. I've done twenty four hour streams. I've done two hours rooms. I mean apart from Activism Video Games is mainly what you do anyway right so this. This is an entirely different for you your lifestyle. Just just I'm going to go do what you want videos. And then go back in the room and streams some so that works out. It's business as usual apart from you know not getting to hang out with as many of my friends right. That's that's been the hard part for me. Is just wanting to have large gatherings and just kind of thinking you know if I don't have a really good reason to go see somebody then I don. I shouldn't go do it because one of the problems with this Cove in nineteen is like. You're symptomatic for a while. After you get it so you can have it and not know it right. And that's the that's one of the biggest problems so I also shared a post today because Rand Paul has now tested positive. I I made it posted on facebook saying you know irony. It's what's for breakfast and I don't want anybody to think that I am Gleeful in any way that Rand Paul or anyone else's infected that's not remotely the case. I'm sorry that anybody got affected and I don't you know. Berry were like Oh no. That's just as you know. Screw you ran. You know the irony of it was that there was Legislation that was going to be voted on specifically to start addressing this and move funds around and he basically held our healthcare hostage by attaching an amendment which included things like pulling us out of Afghanistan. Things that weren't even relevant to thing you know. Let me get my pet issues in at the expense of other people's health right and he got tested because he's in the Senate. He has access to attest to that. Other people don't have access to yet. He didn't have any symptoms. It was just a precautionary test whereas I have a friend who has a friend who has symptoms in his sick with a fever cough everything else and cannot get tested and because they talked to somebody else. Those people don't know if they've been exposed or right. I would like to see an increase in the availability of tests because Rand Paul's as dramatic or some dramatic yet but he's in a higher risk category for having you know severe Response to all this. But Yeah it's I mean here's what I would leave in my comment in regards to you like you know some people saying that it's justice or not if I believed in Karma. This would strengthen my belief. Yeah that's what I can. I'm going to leave it at that. Yeah except I don't right. Oh

You know we really got any time zones but I haven't had yes <hes> that being said considering we all have alcohol and had I think it's very safe to declare this an official iteration of Libertarians in living rooms drinking liquor and we're going to be discussing a very interesting subject today. We're going to be talking about an interesting person. A figure in Libertarian thought as the gentleman by the name of Light Sander spooner and now philly filling Khloe. You're both part of publishing this book this new compilation of Sander spinners dinners <hes> public letters and essays which includes like forty years worth of newspaper editorials and his contributions to the magazine Liberty so I really want to start off just talking about you. Guys can take this whoever wants to take it. I take it away a really just who I spend her. spooner is for some people I'm sure most people listen to the show have at least heard the name in passing if they're not very familiar with his work but why guys take it away and tell us a little bit about you know why he so important to libertarian thought this is anarchy here either of you can take it away sir. I'll let you start yeah so I sent her. spooner is a nineteenth century legal philosopher in theorists who embraced over the course of his life. A Perspective of radical individualist anarchy is one of the first Americans to really <hes> embrace that perspective and take it <hes> to kind of a new level what organization <hes> he was involved in just about every <hes> great liberal cause of the nineteenth century road can entered it into a public life as an abolitionist and not just <hes> any abolitionist but the type of abolitionist that wanted to go invade the South and handout guns to slaves to allow them to liberate results <hes> so really on the on the radical extreme of bat movement itself <hes> did so from a purely Libertarian <hes> perspective that <hes> was rooted in the the Individual Rights of human beings but <hes> he also over the course of his life in career. You're a civil war in slavery. He turns his attention to a variety of other issues and problems. During the day <hes> individually comes to a radical position that the United States government itself has an illegitimate entity. It's something that's imposing fourche of upon subjects that we're not willing participants in this you basically questions the social contract itself in points out very obviously but he'd ever personally signed that social contract nor did anyone else is currently living so we draws into the question is underlying assumption of legitimacy behind not only the U._S. government but really any government in this becomes the predominant theme of his writing for the latter part of his life <hes> which goes into the eighteen eighties <music> when he finally dies he's kind of an older senior statesman type figure among the classical liberals and really the the radical liberals of his day <hes> Ed Services kind of a mentor and Intellectual Mentor to the Next Generation Nets Nets <hes> the figures that evolved in Liberty Magazine so Benjamin Tucker is as one of the major <hes> successors to spooner carries his legacy into the twentieth century which is where it's handed off <hes> as a kind of a foundational text due to <hes> modern libertarianism very cool and that was the bell. I guess that the bell declared the end of your last sorry. I don't know that timing was perfect. Excellent that that means you could take over now Khloe what why he does tell us a little bit about maybe like when you first came upon lay senator spinners work what it means to you and why you think he's such an important figure for Libertarians. Well I think one of the really important parts about like Sander Spinners Orrick <hes> and this is something that I really come around a line in the last two years. <hes> is his take on intellectual property and this is something that in my role as publications manager at a are his Ben <hes> in some ways really frustrating to work with them. Fill Filkin bill can attest to that <hes> but something something that I think is important is that in life sanders spooners essay. It's called the LA intellectual property was published in eighteen fifty five. He sets out to understand the law of nature in regard to intellectual property. It's a project he says that must begin with understanding understanding how and when wealth becomes property and so that distinctions really important <hes> and then he he ends up writing that property is a right against the whole world and it may embrace any conceivable thing which can be possessed held held used controlled enjoyed by one person <hes> and so he he kinda finds that the foundation of property is each individual's natural right to provide for her own substance in happiness in his perhaps unsurprising surprising <hes> that he regards it. The right of property and intellectual wealth is necessary and it's legitimate <hes> so ultimately I've kind of come around when it comes to intellectual property I've written before and I think mark you and I talked about this about Taylor Swift. Yes yeah and I had a piece that came to know that if you're on a podcast you probably talked about Taylor Swift. It happens a lot but what's really been interesting for me is reading seen through a lot of his work. I'm reading through this fabulous collection that Phil put together in realizing that intellectual properties a racket and lifespan lyceum spooner had it right sorry this this wind start the stern but but another thing that Phil wrote that I think is absolutely fantastic if folks have not read this yet <hes> it's an article on a our website called astonishing mess of Academic Publishing and this this essay in article. It really has the nail on the head. What's been difficult about my role here? A are in trying to get these fantastic works that if they were not published or reprinted they'd be lost <hes> and so that's one thing that's very hard for me is to work with these really big corporations and say a you know. We're trying to get this work out to the world and then they say something like older. You have the necessary copyright. Oh do you have the necessary. This Odi have the necessary that and that's something that I ran into <hes> Once Phil had this manuscript on <hes> so that's kind of around about way to answer your question but <hes> I think Sander sooners very very important when it comes to talking about intellectual property and I think that's definitely something that a lot of libertarians disagree on so I WANNA dig into that a little bit more so like when putting together this book and finding all this work to compile together of his are the actual corporations and companies there that that actually hold some kind of copyrights or rights to certain works of his even from someone who's been dead Ed for one hundred fifty plus years all it's frustrating. Is that when you try to publish on <hes> I don't want to call them out but when you try to publish on these do come on okay when you Polish with Amazon for example it can be very difficult difficult when you're uploading and interior of paperback so for example we published under what's called the creative Commons international four point no copyright. That's our standard right and so something that's frustrating when I upload a lot of our books is that that I providing Amazon all the information I provide author <hes> our copyright I provide absolutely everything and then Amazon. Sometimes we'll come back and we'll say oh. We don't think you hold the necessary copyright so I've had to go back and I've had to explain Blaine. Hey this person's been dead for quite a long time but even even if they weren't dead republishing under something that we definitely have the rights to so. I don't know if you want to expand a little bit but it's it's incredibly frustrating for for me because it's not it's not like I just have one book at a time that I'm working on. I'm usually anywhere from eight to ten since I started with my role at a are so to keep everything straight can be really difficult but but at the same time I mean Jeffrey Talk Myself and Phil we have had to prove over and over again in emails and phone calls to Amazon. Did you know that you can you can call Amazon. That's the thing <hes> but we knew explain I._B.. And we've had to explain like hey this is our position. This this is why we're right and we ultimately leave it in their hands to decide whether or not to allow us to publish on their platform and sell on their platform or they're just pointed to block us and unfortunately it has happened once but through the power of the Internet we can still seller publications but it's it's been kind of a challenge. Maybe just tell them to read some of the stuff that you're trying to publish them name. They'll get their on their own way to expand on that. Yes so in this particular book were bit fortunate because the the most recent <hes> work that appears in there was written in eighteen eighty seven so <hes> that predates <hes> quite a bit of when the copyright law sticks in but yes clue saying we have this experience on a weekly basis that if you wanNA publish more recent works <hes> you normally have to track down exhaustive <hes> documentation of us and for example I was working with an author today <hes> who were looking to reprint a work that belonged to his father in E._S. to demonstrate as as the sign of at author that he owns the copyright and that just creates <hes> Mallon's of unnecessary paperwork every single time we do it. It's a real challenging of the publishing earl even win legally something should it'd be a nuclear kind of curious a little bit more on sort of your process in in finding these works and tracking all this stuff down <hes> Kinda..

"David wanted to what they shrimp tar tar with cucumber, apple and radish. Adrian goes for a shrimp and avocado toast, carry us triggered with cucumber watermelon. Juniper as Serano chilly seems like David gets a pretty good comments. Like, he seems to do basically with exception except that one quick fire the entire season Adrian, she gets some comments. But then panamax note that all she got was oil, which I thought was super interesting maybe speaks to maybe a lack of consistency going on. But they're both deemed safe. Antonio any thoughts about these final two. They seem like they were safe. But yet nothing. Really stood out from either of these two to me there. It's probably good at this point to not make bad food and to just sit there in and not put yourself in a bad position. They did they did find as far as that goes. I we didn't get a ton from them in terms of the conceptualizing their dishes, for example, there are little notes throughout like brother is in the in the whole foods. And I think Brandon comes up to him and says what what's up brother what he doing? And what are you looking for in brothers says anything Asian? So it seems like even from the jump. He's just kind of taking this really broad approach to try to find ingredients, and we didn't really get from Eric and Adrian a ton about not Eric at David and Adrian a ton about what they were thinking we had a little bit. But we didn't really get notes that I felt throughout the episodes spoke to problems they were having when they conceive their dishes or problems in prep. So didn't really have much to say other than that just that they they seem like they did. Okay. And they they will live to play another day. All right. Well, let's move into. We talked about the final result tops. Our Kelsey Eric and Eddie Eric ends up getting the win here. A big week for Eric quite think, we'd all said might have gotten a more under the radar edit. Amidst the first few episodes, but the acceptance were being him talking about his incoming child. Jim do we feel like Eric might stand a chance to win this thing now considering that the previously he seemed to sort of like a non factor in the season? He this season is really unique in that. I'm not sure that there's an actual front runner. And as soon as one emerges, they likely they are likely to go home. And so yeah, I think that really everybody has a chance to to to win so far. I mean, they're a little bit of people. Who are I'm worried for like like Adrian, and I don't know if you follow Adrian on social media. But the what she posts online looks totally amazing, and she made her she made quite clear that she is an incredible expediter knows how to run a kitchen in restaurant wars. But I'm not sure that she's made anything I'll show that. I was like man that looks totally awesome. So I'm a little bit worried for her. I know that she's a lot better than that. It's like I say, I only have to do is look at her social media to see she is making really awesome food in restaurants. But for me, I think that really we're still in a point where almost anybody could win which I don't think is that happens usually they're front runners. And I really don't see it this season interning, what do you make of Eric's win here? Do you think it it pretends anything or to Jim's point, do you think it's just sort of like we need to to all head? Jar bats because we never know when someone sticks their neck out. They might get chopped off the next week. I'm on board with Jim I think that nobody's really really stepped up..
