"All right here we go. We're back on racing down today. Episode Number Fifty. We got a lot of stuff to get to today. Three fifty three fifty point preparations on the docket for this week. In one hundred Fifty Kentucky Derby points up for grabs three more horses will be on their way to Churchill. Downs weekend. There's also a bunch of other stakes around the country this weekend most notably the grade. Santa Anita Handicap. So we'll get to all those book. I we gotta get to the action from this past weekend in Saudi Arabia and the conversation is coming up at. I've seen it come up in multiple different areas is about the winner of the Saudi. Maximum Security You know that is probably the most the Kentucky Derby incident and you know. I'M NOT GONNA come on here and you know say that the Saudi Cup has anything to do with the decision that was made at Churchill. Downs or anything like that or argue that the disqualification now because he's one twenty million dollars. Saudi Cup shouldn't happen I I am not gonNA come on here. Make that argument I just off you know really looking at it. It's unfortunate that happened because maximum security is really just such a tough horse. And you know there's not enough good things you can say about maximum security and you know that raise really showed that maximum security is one of the best horses in the world and obviously right now. The leader of the pack in the United States for older horse. Right now and be really cool to see this horse competing for your old year and you know depending on where he goes from here. Obviously you know. They already mentioned that. He's not going to Dubai. But just where MAC security goes from. Here I'm excited to see that. And what he has in store you know. I'm sure Eric will have some of his things. Say about maximum security. But that's something not lost museum. Fortunate -ness of the disqualification at the Kentucky Derby. Because you know this is a really really fantastic horse for sure. I mean he's slowly and steadily starting to shed that tag of being the Horse Sector disqualified from the Kentucky Derby even though it will always remember that way. If you were to continue what you did last weekend easily going to be more remembered as one of the better horses heading into this decade in this early part of the century the obviously he's now ten million dollars in earnings in at this stage career. It's only getting go go higher. It'll be interesting to see where he gets brought back. I met in. Saratoga is kind of the midseason point. Four the connections there But honestly I think he's already cemented. His legacy added great horse. Just you know like cigar did way back when of when he won the inaugural Dubai World Cup. Maximum security is going to be able to say the same thing for the Saudi Cup where he'd be a really good group of Horses. I might add Definitely was not lighten any sense I think every horse for the most part Ranta form in the Saudi Cub ibew. Probably the biggest surprise people contend but definitely not be By a quarter of a lengthy Iran. Huge She's also in so many other horses from the race but maximum security Kind of a rough trip was definitely a target especially for teas on Mutual Gustavo. Louisa has had to get created down the stretch. But you work down in that. Horses has tons and tons of heart. I don't really know I've seen a horse. Who Does Not WanNa let him worse by like maximum security does. It's quite impressive. How this works bears down to every time he races and I just think I I I think we all know. He's in pre twenty twenty if he stays healthy yeah. That was another thing that I didn't quite get that opening. Bid Is the fact that you know. Maximum security did all that won the race while Iran Ortiz was basically writing interference. I made the comment to Eric Baxter. Excuse jokers still out there kind of looked like a NASCAR and now you can say all you want about. How you know. Probably wasn't the best rider. You didn't have good character of Iraqis. I thought it was a good strategy on his part to do what he could to be. Maximum security obviously probably definitely in this country If he would probably would have been disqualified but I thought it was good on his part to do his best to win. Win The race. And try to keep maximum-security away because I don't think I if you run that race normally maximum-security just goes by with the rules over there. They run category One rules which unlike in America the disqualification rules are if you preventing a worse from running their best race. You get disqualified. There is. That's worse when when you run interference or not so if mutual Gustavo Iraqis does dat but the horse wins by Lincoln half. It's not a problem. Give what was within the rules so it was a good ride? Bhai Iran It was definitely a little malicious. I certainly Jason Service not lease with IRA. Teaser was on the first things. He made a comment about after the race. In the in an interview shortly after On national television I might add But at the same time that's I mean the races aren't one you know like a track meet where you can necessarily go between the lane. This horse racing and that kind of stuff can fly to an extent maybe a little over the edge. I think especially when acting security job inside. I really started to hurt an inside but I was happy that I read never intentionally drew contact although he was doing some blocking like you said NASCAR ask He never intended to make contact which I think was probably the safest thing and when he when he knew the horses about to go by he kind of backed off on trying to get through so are running more interference so while maybe was maybe a little militias It definitely was good race riding on his part all right so that. That's it for this stuff with the Saudi Cup Stripping back over Cross sees out before we get to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks preparations that you want to highlight a Horse Zulu al folk who is turning into his own. You know I will highlight at about this point last year. This is were bricks and more bricks and mortar was not not saying that Zulu Alpha is going to be the next bricks mortar. Or anything like that. But you know he could do similar things to where it's very likely he's going to do similar things to what bricks and mortar didn't very likely that this is probably the top tier force in the United States. This year. You know at this point last year. Bricks and mortar was a great one Winnipeg World Cup turf and and then he had a great to race. I believe it was either at fairgrounds are one of the tracks Louisiana so to this point Zulu Alpha grade one winner Pegasus World Cup turf now. He's agreed to winner The Mac Ramadan down at Gulfstream. This past weekend. I think Zulu Alpha's in for a really strong really really strong two thousand twenty Keep your eye on him. Come for race like the turf classic the Kentucky Derby Undercard. That's where I would him go but not saying Zulu Alpha is an expert in order. But I'm not saying that he isn't either into Rena. Bricks and mortar was able to have consistent success last year is because all the worst is behind him weren't consistent. I mentioned on the show last week. That Group of forces that Zulu Alpa was facing. He actually used to be a part of that group they never were able to consistently put together strong back. That rates it's bricks. Mortar took it to a new level. Easily able to string together back Multiple consecutive good races in a row. And that's what God in his horse of the year title. And if these keep going the weather going is do. The wealth is going to be able to do the same thing last year Even though I was Kinda surprised after neier introduced the Turks Trinity Series that no horse really emerged from that as premier career force and to be chair. I mean we see that with Dirt horses as well on the on the Derby trail. They don't always shape out after the triple crown trail to be good and that kind of creates inconsistencies in the handicapped division like we saw maybe back Towards the end of maybe before the end of two thousand seventeen that you're got stronger as it went on but nevertheless China look into Alpa. Maybe like an expert in order. I wouldn't be surprised because once again the turf division isn't strong and If I'm going to throw one out there vitality is probably the best grass three year old male out there And I know. The connections are keen. Distract him out so he could be wanted content we know. He has loads talent. So at this point Zulu Alpha is primed at least stay home maleter force because so far. There are no challengers within a mile oven. So I'll also want to mention very quickly. Law Wasn't a good weekend for Dale Rome overall at Gulfstream. He does have a really fine horse in Mr Freeze. You know I talked about him. Pegues World Cup. That was a really fine performance by him. A second place now. He wanted to Gulfstream Park Mile. Go not to do by. He'll run on the good often mile I could see this horse is a horse could potentially get a great one win. I don't think he's a top older horse but he's in that second tier of you know very good horses. That could get a grade two. Maybe you know if favorable circumstances happened upset a great blonde but you know Mr. Freezes that kind of horse that you know. That's a great one race that is GONNA be a viable type horse. Probably doesn't win but he's still very fine horse so some good news out of the deal. Romans burned but on a day. That was supposed to be Denis's moment day. I texted Eric after that race. In you know I was a person who I've been on Dennis's moment since really since I saw him when the earthquake especially after Dale Romans on the show and I had mentioned that I liked Denis before I talked to Dale and after Dale. I love this horse. Something's clearly not right with Dennis's moment I mean you know there's you can lose a race. That's one thing and even. Dale said this. You know losing races one thing. But running last in Fountain of Youth Stakes like that. Dennis's moment is obviously better than running last in a stakes race like that so obviously something's not right with him whether he hasn't fully progressed from his two year old year or could be something physical we don't know They're never gonNA check that out and we'll hear from that one day they figure that out but something is obviously not right with Dennis's moment and he should be a lot better than that and we'll see where they go go with him going forward. I'm not overly optimistic. That he will get to the Kentucky Derby. He's still got a chance at one more preparation if they do decide to go that route with him but not overly optimistic. But there's still a chance you don't tug on Dennis's MOMA BEFORE I go to Mr Freeze del Romans. He said the still can't find out what was wrong with him and maybe he needed the time or maybe he hasn't taken that necessary step forward of two to three years old either way. There's a one more race to kind of prove that he's a derby horse that'll be wherever Romans puts him. I hope it's Bluegrass. That'd be the easiest fought for him and we've seen we've seen horses run poorly in the Fountain of Youth and come back and run a really huge race next time out. Addict of former champion is the first one that comes to mind is saying that Garam just other horses that performed poorly first off of a layoff from their two year old campaign. Brody's 'cause lost. The Tampa Bay became back. One the Blue Rask. So the IT'S NOT. How pressing is heavy from the Romans?.

"What a week. Holy smokes. A lot of ground to cover between now and noon today. Interesting note, Maryland Moesby says that she's not going to actually pursue any marijuana cases before her office because in a couple of years it's going to be legal anyway. That she has decided apparently. That she is the legislature in this state, and she has decided that. A couple of years. It's not going to be illegal. So what the heck? Easy solution to this. You're a prosecutor you're supposed to prosecute people who violate the law. If you don't like the law have the law changed not in a couple years pushing apple is to change it right now this minute this legislative session. Truly if this is what the interest is. And the argument is sound then tell Annapolis move your butts. Here's all the data you need, Mika legal. Now, let us become the east coast, Colorado, dude, really. So she she finished her statement yesterday about this, by the way, then down an entire bag of Cheetos. I don't know what that was all about. Just curious. We'll talk about that. If we have the opportunity to during the show, but I thought that was certainly worth a mention at the beginning of the show. Now, there's a very interesting thing happening or Washington DC right now, and we will get to the Coen stuff. There's a lot of time for that. When I posted something yesterday because I think it's instructive, and it's informative. There's real question as to whether this war memorial cross in Bladensburg is a violation of the establishment clause of the constitution. The American humanist association. Has decided that it must be. It's clearly a violation of the establishment clause. I note in in the link that I put up yesterday, and I would advise you take a look at it. Because I think it's very interesting to note, what the founders intended, they said that the federal government. Well, have nothing to do with the establishment of religion. Right. That's that was your point all thirteen colonies had established state-sanctioned churches. Going so far as and what is your kiss say only if you were a Protestant? Could you hold office? Well, what do you intend to the founders was to say is this is the state's business as individual states? It's not our job as the federal government to make this decision for the individual states. We have to respect that they have the right because many of them were in one fashion or another originally religious colonies. With respect their individual religious choices. This is ancient history supposed back in the seventeen seventies. But the link is there you can follow it. And I found it very interesting because you can actually click on certain parts of the link on each individual colony and you'll see exactly when the established church of that particular colony began when it ended up what circumstances, and it strikes me that it ended the last one ended I think toward the end of the civil war. So we had established churches for quite some time. In this country at the state level. And the intent of the fathers wasn't to say don't you dare say anything at all about religion. Voters was to say we're supposed to keep our fingers off. This is a state issue. Now things have changed, of course. But I think that understanding the histories kind of useful when we begin to talk about the peace cross in Bladensburg. Is this a federal issue? Apparently. No it is. Apparently now, this is a federal issue. Not a state issue. For example, if you take a look at the link, then I post as religion in the original thirteen color, you have to scroll down there. And you take a look at Maryland, for example. We had an established church for two hundred and thirty five years from sixteen thirty two until eighteen sixty seven after the civil war. And I read you yesterday part of article thirty three an article thirty five which pertain directly to our established church. The Maryland constitution. Did that? Now all religious requirements were eventually eliminated in the constitution of eighteen sixty seven that is after the civil war for those of you who live in Delaware. Yeah. There was an established church there. Because no people can be truly happy though, under the greatest enjoyment of civil liberties, if abridged of the freedom of their conscience as to their religious profession and worship and almighty, God being the only Lord of conscience father of lights and spirit and the author as well as the object of all divine, knowledge, faith, and worship who only enlighten the minds and persuade and convince the understanding of people, I do hereby granted declare the no person or persons inhabiting in this a province or territories who shall confess and acknowledge our almighty, God, the creator upholder and ruler of the world and profess him or themselves obliged to live quietly under the civil government Shelby any case molested or prejudiced in his or their person of a state or estate rather because of his or their conscious persuasion or practice, nor be compelled to frequent or maintain any religious worship place or ministry car. Contrary to his or their mind, and that all persons who also profess to believe in Jesus Christ the savior of the world shall be capable notwithstanding. Their other persuasions and practices and points of conscience to serve this government in any capacity, both legislatively and executive that's a seventeen o one charter of the state of Delaware. Where it was said that Christianity was the official faith. Of Delaware all thirteen colonies. State authorized churches the federal government being told keep your paws off it. Now. It's all the case. It's just interesting to take a look at what once was. So the questions must a large Christian cross commemorating soldiers who died in World War One. And it's been in place now for ninety four years. Must it be taken down because three people are offended by it. Interesting question. What about fifteen people are offended by what about if there's one person offended by it? Is it somehow violation of the establishment clause of the constitution? Now the court heard opening arguments about this yesterday. And the arguments continue today the peace cross around forty feet tall dedicated to the individuals in the Bladensburg area who died during World War One. It's not dedicated to individuals from Nebraska. I mean, it's very specifically to those who died from Bladensburg and the surrounding area. The memorial supporters. Those of us who think this is any Arctic to remove this ninety four year old. Piece. Of course, I also felt it was removed the confederate statues. But that's that show. How retrograde I actually am. The cross was completed in one thousand nine hundred eighty five. That's a ninety four years ago. The crosses defenders include the Maryland officials who took over maintenance of the cross around sixty years ago in order to preserve it and address traffic safety concerns. State of Maryland says the cross does not violate the constitution because it as a secular purpose. And meaning. So does cross ever have little or no religious significance. A ruling against us. Those of us who think the peace crush remain exactly where it is. A speaks to a broader sense of sacrifice of those individuals and level country. You do this. God forbid the American humanist association ever drive through Arlington National Cemetery. And I don't know if you've ever actually been to earn dimensional cemetery, but on every single headstone. You'll see a cross or a star of David or half crescent. Does this constitute then? Violation of the establishment clause. To recognize that those individuals who are buried there were of individual faiths. And of course, there are some where there is no indication whatsoever. Either because it was known or because the individuals who died and service to this country ahead. No professed faith. Neil Gorsuch yesterday asked if it's not time to get rid of this test. See the supreme court has been a little less clear on this. There are cross memorials all across the country. You drive along country road word I pass on the other day. Sean wrote a not too far from Cal Ripken's old house, which is now I think Adam Jones's house there's little Morial right by tree where somebody apparently hit the tree and somebody's put across there as well. As other images, remembering the person who died at the particular spot is this a violation almost undoubtedly on state land is somebody violating the constitution by making note of that particular death. There's in questions. Do you want to take him down? Is does this constitute excessive government entanglement with religion? That is the basis of this going back to nineteen seventy-one decision there. The establishment clause. On the same day in two thousand five the court upheld a ten commandments monument on the grounds of the Texas State capitol. They struck down a ten commandments display and Kentucky courthouse. The supreme court has not been exactly clear on this. And once again, they're addressing something that if you go historically way back when was not a federal issue at all. And I find that just kind of ironic to think that when when the establishment clause was written. It was not the establishment clause of the individual colonies, it was the establishment clause for the new government that would oversee the individual states. Don't forget that prior to the civil war. We would say the United States of America are doing the following. The understanding is there were individual states just as the state of Israel or the state of France. That meaning changed. In the run-up to and following the civil wars. So we know say the United States of America is doing something was a massive change. We became no longer viewed as individuals states having certain rights and obligations. We became view it as part of a whole. Now while the supreme court is hearing this. Eric baxter. The vice president and senior counsel for the second fund for religious liberty was they're arguing the case. And he says it ordering the cross down would send a very bad message those expressions as benign expressions of religion did not arise to a constitutional harm are not the types of harm that the founders intended to prevent when they drafted the establishment clause. Monica Miller is the American humane association arguing counsel, and she says gotta go we're here to honor all veterans today, not just Christians, but everyone who is not represented by a Latin cross as a war memorial for also here in support of Christians who do not want their Latin cross their sacred symbol of Christianity to be in the power of the government, which is a very odd thing to say, the implication that a piece crossed that's been in place for ninety four years. Puts Christianity in the power of the government. That is simply factually untrue..

"H news time is one one. Our top story. There are three big stories today. Former lawyer for President Trump Michael Cohen testifying before congress is one of them calling was asked why he flipped on the president Helsinki. Charlottesville. Watching the daily destruction of our civility to one another. Putting up silly things. Like this really unbecoming of congress. It's that sort of behaviour. That I'm responsible a second. Big story. This afternoon is a case going before the supreme court. They are hearing oral arguments today. It's a closely watched religion case out of Maryland, it issue, a forty foot cross shaped war memorial on public land. This was billed almost one hundred years ago as a memorial to area residents who died in World War One. Eric Baxter's VP senior counsel at the Becket fund for religious. Liberty is ordering the cross down sends a bad message challenging these. And it's tearing them down would send a message hostile to religious believer sounding like the justices are going to allow the cross to stay up, but shying away from a sweeping ruling on the subject across his challenger say it is a violation of the first amendment's ban on establishing state religion. And then the third story is President Trump's summit in Vietnam. What's North Korea's Kim Jong Hoon? They held a press conference this morning. Very busy day tomorrow. Probably pretty quick dinner. Of things are going to be open. It'll lead to wonderful really wonderful. They're on the other side of the planet. So.
