"It was conversation. We were talking about, you know, I don't know if you know, we ran the ball there, and they didn't call time out. So we thought they were thinking the same thing. And then we popped the run in there and gave us chess kick to fill go to win it. So we're certainly talking about it. That is raiders head coach rich Versace, admitting to America that he really was thinking exactly what America was. Maybe a tie would be the best way to end this thing? After all. But what we got instead was an all time finale to this regular season where the Raiders won, the Chargers got knocked out of the postseason entirely, and we finally got clarity about the NFL's insane playoff picture. So today, our Monday morning quarterback, Alex Smith, walks us through what he saw that we did it. And then our friend Dave Fleming takes us to Indy for the college football championship. I'm Pablo Toure. It's Monday, January 10th. This is ESPN daily. Alex Smith, it is now Monday. It's 1243 a.m. eastern east coast time. You were at what I was thinking might be the game of the year. This niners rams game. And then that got unseated around, I don't know, like the fourth quarter of, I mean, what the hell are we calling? This raiders chargers gay, man. What was this? You know, for me, it was like the perfect culmination to this insanely crazy bizarre year that's been I say that in the most positive way because it has been it's been fantastic as a viewer and a fan. But this Sunday Night I came remember seeing a game like this with the kind of implications and what was on the line. For me to sit and think that a Hall of Famer potentially was going to have his career ended at home, you know, by this standoff at the fit the yard line and over time, there were so many things going on, but yeah, it was a wild, wild Sunday Night. Yeah, it's funny how long it took me to remember, oh right, Ben Roethlisberger in the entire city of Pittsburgh. They are like living and dying with this thing. So let's set up the stakes here because it was so much. It was an onion with a million layers, but basically what happened is and we'll get to all of these in depth. But the colt loses the Jaguars, we will touch that in a second here, but it sets up this scenario if you are unfamiliar with it somehow by now that, hey, if there's a tie in sunny night football, the final game of week 18, if there's a tie between the Chargers and the Raiders, both of those teams get to go to the postseason and it turns out the Steelers would be the team that is left at home. And Brandon staley, they go to the charges before this game said, no we're not doing this that just coffee shop talk, whatever, blah blah blah, never gonna do it. And then we have a game in which it seems like, well, that's not even gonna matter because the readers go up big, but the Chargers Alex and I'll start here and we'll sort of move chronologically from here. But the Chargers get this chance to tie the game down 7 down two minutes with two minutes left and they end up going on a 19 play 83 yard drive that felt like it lasted a week. How would you unpack what that drive was like through your eyes? The end of this game and over time, if you're the Chargers, I mean, it was so crazy. At the one point, I think they were 11 or 12 plays in and now Michaels says this on the telecast. And I think there are like the 50 yard line and I was trying to figure out how it's mathematically possible to have run 12 plays and only be at the 50 yard line trying to march for this game tying touchdown. And as Justin Herbert kept converting fourth and ten after fourth and ten after fourth. And I couldn't possibly think he was going to do it one more time and then he did it. And then to throw these just strikes, he was like he was unconscious out there. Just game tying strike. He's arm like the way he it's like a rail gun. It's like there's so many little like arc, but it's just like 35 yard lasers. And we're leaving out the fact that he threw a 30 yard laser on a fourth and 21. When they were down 14 or 15 excuse me. For that touchdown. And then marched them down on this one. And I want to say this all because, honestly, I think it was the gutsiest performance. I've seen all year. In the entire NFL, and it was in a losing effort and that got us sting if you're Justin Herbert, but he threw the ball 65 times. He put the entire team on his back. His poor right tackle could not block max Crosby. And max Crosby, I felt like was teeing off on Justin Herbert every single play. And I don't think I've ever seen a quarterback, you know, we all have. We all kind of have a hit meter. As quarterbacks when we're in a pocket defenses know that if they get to us, even if they're not sacks that hitting us repeatedly has an effect on our play. Our feet get sped up, our decisions get made quicker. We make bad decisions like just bad things happen if you hit quarterbacks. And you know the tougher the quarterbacks, the longer they can resist that they less they wear down. Justin Herbert, I don't know where it is. This kid just stands in there and takes hit after hit and is unphased by it and again in that drive that 19 plate drive when he marched them down to take this to over time. It was just so gutsy against these big moments and you said it just throwing like just laser beams all over the field. Herbert in the shotgun. Here is the season. They rush four here comes max Crosby Herbert to the end zone. Caught touchdown. Chargers. It was really, really impressive, and it was an amazing game to watch. And got us into this overtime, where literally like Brandon staley said, it was coffee shop talk. I thought, like, you know, obviously it was fun to talk about, hey, what if they tied and they'd both get in. But then, I mean, the perfect scenario was drawn up. They were already in overtime. They'd been in this wild shootout, and they're staring at each other with a running clock in about three minutes left and overtime. And neither one of them really had the advantage and was going to take a time out. And it honestly looked like it was going to happen. It took so long. I mean, we went through a whole series of life cycles inside of this game alone, where we went from, I can't believe we didn't even come close to getting the overtime scenario to. Oh my God, we're getting it. Oh my God, we got it. And then I speak for America here where we're pissed that we didn't get it. We went all the way around to like, how did we not get it in the end? We just to reset the overtime here. So they get to overtime Alex. And again, the playoffs are on the table if they wanted just like kneel it out or something. Yeah. I just killed the clock. However, subtly or unsettle you want to do it. That's what's available for you both, rich Versace, the head coach of the Raiders and Brandon staley coach of the charges. If you just want it and what happens is, the Raiders kick a field goal to start overtime, and then Justin Herbert continues to do the thing where he's like throwing a bomb for 47 yards to Mike Williams in the middle of the field, and they get a field goal, and here it gets, it gets to be even more like it gets even more infuriating and chaotic and absurd, right? Because now it's like, okay, it's the clock's about to go. Like, what do we do here? And did you ever think the Raiders were.

"I mean, it's a lot of fun with you. That's the only way I would do you know what I mean? It's it's a lot of fun to do with them. And I forget what say now. Yeah. It's a lot. It's a lot of fun to do with them. You know, what I mean, the we're all racers on the main? It's all like a family. You know, what I mean most most of the guys on the team or old school razors? And. A lot of hard work is small team. We don't have that many people. So they put a lot of hard work, and we'll just they wanna see me run. Good and good for the family. And what happened I nursed the family? So that's the big cruciate all them and what they do. It's awesome. And so going for what are you guys need to take that next step because you guys have gone from a team that was like, you know, twentieth. Fifteenth on on good days to now your top ten almost every week. It seems what's next up? How do you get there? I guess I guess the Nick step in money is the next. You You know, know what what I I mean? mean, we're not all the way there. But we've gotten most of the way. So this comes along with a lot engineering and a lot of support. You know what I mean? That just more money. I mean, so we'll keep plugging away. And once we get everything together. And I think we should to build contend top ten you know, what I mean top five at some of the tracks. So what we're looking forward to do and trying to get get everything geared up for later on in the year for the chase. And see what we can do. And you talked about money being the biggest, you know, proponent this point to moving forward if somebody wants to sponsor Rienzi in the thirty nine car, go about that rise Gration Facebook or Twitter or something like that. You know, what I mean, come on more and see what or? Do you wanna mean, Danny Dugan sponsorship? I think it goes through our Rienzi, Grayson. So though the hook it up any guy except for that Oriole Hattie, where's Braise, but they didn't look too style yesterday. But that's all. Part of a new team. You know what? I mean, they need some pitching. Yeah. For sure I'm a Rangers fans. I know what that's all bad. They never have any bitching. Yeah. Yep. Good. But we're here. Good at Texas. I don't know. We're ended up practice, but it's tough out there right now because it tracks changing it seems like that the PJ wants coming up. So it's throwing everybody throwing us for a loop, which we hope it's that I think it is because we haven't done too much of the car and all of a sudden just gone drastically different ways. It'll be fun to keep up with during the race. And should be up for the challenge. And you mentioned that you guys have some newer upgraded cars this year, where are you getting the cars and the Motors from our CR CR, so they come from the two, you know, what I mean, they're from just like what they got. And so is there a technical alliance where they're also sharing some data with you? Or is it just carring Clinton, just Garnett Clinton? And that's what I was saying the nailer step money. Next. That's the next money. So well, you know, you guys might be able to do that do take oriole's hat off more sponsorship. They look yesterday. Danny Dugan says that we're heels looked terrible surprise surprise. Well, Ryan seeing thanks so much for taking time out in the final weekly. Good luck to you. Thank you. All right. Thanks once again to our two guests on the program. Eric Merola and Ryan Sieg. Just moments ago with our own Toby Christie a couple.

"On the team. So that's every everything told package driver's car the motor and even the pit crew. You know, what I mean, they're they're new guys, and they're they're up and down, but they're getting better. So just got have total package and to keep up with the Cup teams. And we plan on doing. Well, it's awesome. Ac- the speed that you guys have been showing. Plus, it's awesome. I've been out here for a little bit near team is very very loose. They're very very fun to hang around. So that's a that's going to be fun. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's a lot of fun. If it wasn't fun. We wouldn't be doing it. You know what? I mean. That's what it's all about. Yeah. Everybody's loose. Once a good time in run good. And that's a part of the. Fun. You know, we've been running it. So it is it does loosened. Everything up in makes everything will go easier. Visit make the years where you guys were struggling a little bit seemed like they were worth it now to to have this turnaround. Yeah. You don't mean? It gets frustrating K when past couple years, you just kinda know where you're going around. Where he thought you were going around in it gets frustrating, and we stepped up the program this year, and it it's showed off in. It's a lot more exciting track. It's awesome. Now, you've got a bunch of partners have been signing on this year. I keep seeing sponsorship announcement sponsorship announcement after sponsorship nuts talking about those those awesome partnerships. You guys have going on. Yeah. I mean, we've had people step up lie from last year. And then there's some new ones that come along and thinks of the Dan Dugan, and Cody also the you know, what I mean one behind the scenes the track, but he's he does a lot. Also with Email people getting them on board and fill them in of what we've been doing. And it's all of them. You know, what I mean, it wouldn't be Ospel without sponsorship. That's a huge part of it. And now judging by the conversations we were having here before we came in. I would imagine that they partake in few of the the beverage. Yeah. Yeah. The first year we Larry's eliminate code Rome to start off the year. So alcohol's always get thing. Loosens everybody up. Maybe that's why they're so lose for sure. It's been it's been awesome to watch it though for sure and yet some cool teammates as well. Jeff green, a former expended series champion. Josh bookie as well. Talk about the awesome stable drivers, you guys have goings. Well, yeah. Yeah. They're definitely a great addition on when Jeff gives race. It's a lot of fun to race with them. And like Daytona this year he had a top to enforce. So just great in. We back racing. All three at Talladega Josh's racing this weekend. So hopefully can get a top twenty and I was solid day for our S. Yeah. And it's been awesome. To for guys. Like, Jeff green. I've seen practice session the stuff where he's pretty fly aboard every now, and again, you know, well, if they can just get some funding, maybe for my farmers only dot com or something. Maybe. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely if he could he he had talked to you know, what I mean somebody coming along. But you know, what? I mean, it's just smoke until you get the cash in the Bank. So we'd love to see Jeff ratio. What I mean? He's still got it. And you put a good car. I'm sure you could do pretty well and. But it's all do with funding. And you know, what I mean, that's what this sports is built around. Now. I mean speed is money. So that's it shows we've stepped up sponsorship, and we got better cars and better Motors. And that's that speed. That's awesome. It's awesome to see that you're doing it with your family as well your dad's run around here. Everybody's time. So it's really cool to see the family aspect of things when the sports get more and more corporate it's cool to see somebody doing well still at the family aspect..

"They did single the rest of us were drafting sill. I think I think we're close. Honestly, there might just be those two two mile tracks that maybe needed a little different qualifying set rules. So were you a huge fan of the show bonanza back in the day carry? Nope. So why did you pick the word manza? I just sounds huge and cheesy. It does have we even looked at the definition of bonanza probably something bad. I don't know probably how about this Jimmy Johnson's going to discuss the woes the Chevy teams are having. When loser draw were our relationships on the manufacturer side or what they are. It's hard to say that they could be more because they've been heavily aligned and working together. So. We continue to find out how to reallocate assets closer together. So there is never Lucien that happens, but the Chevy teams have been you know, doing the most that they can either especially when it comes to the shape of the car in the body and submission processes. So our next step is trying to figure out how we make sure that the next generation car is the best that it can be. We don't have a ton of time to get that in July that one goes goes in for submission. So we're working hard on that. But I feel like Atlanta was the one that was kind of an outlier, but with Vegas and the Vegas race taking place that was really the first true test in my opinion. What we had there didn't work, and we're totally different here. And what is Jimmy Johnson doing daily to prepare for the upcoming Boston marathon, it's probably an hour hour most days and. Maybe two days with an hour and a half to two hours for a run just to get the mileage in a lot less than what I've done in years past when I was trying out with the Orleans trying to traff lawns. And some of the cycling events have done running much more efficient. You can get a lot done or shorter period of time. And I'm thankful that the bulk of my mileage is behind me, and I'm in a process, it's called tapering. So this week the mileage cuts back next week even more and then the fallen week we race. Then the marathon is then so you right now, I'm tore the body down in now it's time to kinda rebuild and rehydrate and just get ready and he'll up and then run twenty six point two on April fifteenth. So a bonanza is a situation or event that creates a sudden increase in wealth, good fortune or profits of that is not what this does for us. No. But in fact, you could argue that it does the opposite because people stop listening when you pull up this bonanza large amount of something. Oh, that's probably at a large. Large the the film festival Onasa is an example here. So there you go. So it's kind of on-track, I don't know. What is exactly up next? We will wrap things up here on T F L L W. Or w. Mark, Gary earthy? Hey, I'm Toby Christie. And if you like what we do here at Tf L W all the ways known as the final lap weekly. "Of stuff. Yeah. It wouldn't. So I hope they did a lot of math and a lot of engineering, and I hope they were right? I hope so too regular like fifty inch TV suspended in the air that high when it falls causes law damage just on its own. So you look at one that's like a huge box. Like that thing. That's that's definitely gonna hurt. All right stand. By for some numbers track is point five three three miles in length. Not the shortest track on schedule though. Banking turns up to twenty four degrees. Front stretches up to eight degrees front stretching backstretch are both six hundred fifty feet. So that to me says equidistant, but there are conspiracy theories out there that say it's not. Got rid of the progressive banking Bristol. Did they I don't know. I think this is old status copy and paste, man. So because then they make the whole thing where we're going to put it back the way it was. Yeah. It did nothing so stages. These may or may not be accurate. One hundred twenty five laps for stages. One and two final stage to fifty Cup race five hundred laps two hundred sixty six point five miles both dizzying if you're in the seat. Race. Winner was Kyle Busch summer race winner there the night race was Kurt Busch brother and check out all the action Sunday two pm eastern on Fs one. S would I still say equal, Justin? So it's slightly. I don't care. I still say it is. I mean, the numbers show it it. So that's good enough. Right. Yeah. I defy anyone to to tell me. Otherwise, all you have to look at the Google maps of it from above Guler. You'll see don't care numbers are numbers. Can you know why I'm such a good mood though? Well, I have a feeling of the bone Anza. We're about to now for a Jimmy Johnson. Weird that as you're saying it without the echo it. Still sounds like you have the echo you. Oh, that's because you're hearing it your head. And it's it's something you're used to it just goes with your voice when you say bonanza, we begin with Jimmy Johnson and his bonanza nece on the qualifying debacle going on NASCAR right now the bigger tracks. I mean, I think we all knew that there would be some challenges with this rules package. We all know that for television. We don't want single car. I mean, we're just we're just dealing with some issues that we're all trying to work through collectively. And I think NASCAR is trying to keep an open mind. They don't want overreact. We're competitors. Who were trying to work the system the best? We can you know, rulings come down. I think we're just gonna have to be at minded to it. But I think what you get in that final round. At least this is what happened in California. If you're like man, twelve it's either twelve or the poll coming you make that final round you're going to risk it all and today that waiting game certainly was going on. I'm not sure where the forty one ended up but. You know, he's he's shot out there fourth this this white so hard. It's so hard for NASCAR to pick away to to call this or how to officiate it seems like no car would work just fine. So we don't know that until now. Right. So it's tricky, and I appreciate the fans being open minded to this as it evolves. And teams NASCAR media, and it's just a moving target. We know it's not ideal. But we're we're all trying to make most of Jimmy Johnson on which tracks should be should should get some tweaks changes to the whole qualifying debacle. Nece? I think it's close. We're having a hard time running flat in one and two. And that's all the difference in the world, you need a few. If there's a lift I think single car qualifying really becomes a priority for the teams fun Tana's a bit different because the strata was her so dang along so much real estate. So I think Flynn Tanna in Michigan to outliers. Vegas. I think the RC our cars for the fastest and single. They did single the rest of us were drafting sill. I think I think we're close. Honestly, there might just.

"We'll we're going to charge you twenty four ninety five or hot dog. But is it really twenty four ninety five. Oh, I make everything up. You actually believe that. Oh, well, I mean, do you never know it would make sense if they're giving out free tickets, you know, you know, twenty four ninety five for a hotdog, please. How about this carry? This was weird. So often Wayne self was benched in favor of Bubba Wallace. A couple of weeks ago on the twenty two AM racing entry in the truck series and the excuse given at the time was the team was wanting to evaluate how their equipment stacked up and Bubba walls would be a good guy to kind of figure things out for them. Well, the next week at Texas Bubba Wallace was still in the truck as like, okay? What's going on here? Still valuating. So this week in Texas Wallace there again, and so you're looking at things, and it looks like, you know, you look at the penalty report comes out this week huge surprise. Austin Wayne self has been indefinitely suspended for violating the substance abuse policy. Well, good news for him and the truck series is they have the entire month of April off. So you know, that's true back just in time. But so I would imagine the first time he was benched was probably because they got the news. They had failed the test the second week they probably working on their the appeal. So you do your secondary tests. And now, obviously that came back negative is what it seems. And now he is a fishy suspended. All right. Well, what about the Bill the biff? Yeah, that's pretty cool. He's going to be driving a truck series race in June for the fifty one team for Kabul. More sports practice the truck this week. That's pretty cool. I guess why aren't you excited because I mean, the guys like, you know, four champion and. He's he's relegated driving in the truck series. Is a former truck series champion. I want. I think he's pretty qualified. And I guess I would think you'd be excited about this. We like the bit. I definitely I just think it's kind of beneath him. I don't think it's beneath him to be like the best truck and the entire tricks. Here's I think that's pretty good to get there. All right, fine. Whatever multiple Cup series winner. Right. But he's also like forty nine years old. There's not many people are wanting to give him a ride when he's bound the sport for three years. Okay. I think this is a pretty good considering his situation. I think this is probably the best case scenario. All right. Well, can't wait to see him Cup series driver. Standings after Texas heading into Bristol this weekend tend to one Kurt Busch. Chase Elliott number nine. Ryan Blaney Martin tricks junior at seven brackets last as a couple of wins at number six. Eric Merola five Joey Logano has himself a win. Kevin Harvick at three no wins. Denny Hamlin two wins. And Kyle Busch as a couple of wins. He is the points leader there by eight there. It is. That is every bit of that is their top ten in the NASCAR monster energy Cup series. Yes. I didn't see Jimmy in there. No. I didn't see them either. Which is unfortunate. That's unfortunate for you. Yes. And him probably more so him. Really? Are you sure? I mean, I don't think he goes. Oh, he don't want. I really wish I was in the top ten in points for for Kerry Murphy. I sometimes think that you wish you in there more than he wishes. He was in there, by the way on tap in mere moments is Jimmy Johnson bonanza. No, I'm so excited. I actually it's good to hear from this time. So sure, but I got a Bristol Motor Speedway preview because you know, the race there this weekend. They are. It's the world's fastest half mile. It's like fighting. Let me try that again. Let me let me let's rewind that never happened fighting jets in June. What I've said did not happen. We rely and nothing would just cut the ho we're not as fighter jets. No, not adding dang it. Well, it's like fighter jets gymnasium. We're talking beaten and banging at Bristol the Coliseum of NASCAR at place holds. I think I mean, it depends on you ask one hundred sixty thousand to one hundred eighty thousand.

"We work hard to bring you these shows and interviews and all that kind of fun stuff that you hear each and every week, and I haven't let Toby talk yet. That's right. You haven't. But you know, the cool part care. You're talking about them giving us something. I don't we give back as well. When you donate money to our patriots page. The also get things like decals and t shirts, depending on the different tiers that you hit. It's really awesome. It's cool thing man. Wow. I didn't know about that. That's cool aware. No. So what happens if I donate is? Does it create a weird feedback loop where we might blow up the world don't know? This is the final. Today is arrogant Merola welcome once again back the program. Thanks for having me. All right. So Atlanta poll is that kind of a sign of things to come. Well, I hope so I think you know, everybody's got a lot of questions going into this year with the new rules package and everything and so two Lanta our first shot at qualifying with the new rules package. It it was it was a good sign to show up in had that much speed in a race car so excited about that. And then, you know, I think now we've got an idea on how the race went and some things that we have to work on you know, to be better in the race. But. The first first things first is heaven speed and fast race cars. And we were able to do that. Definitely definitely. So that was kind of a taste of the new rules package. I guess this is the full blown thing here in Vegas, right? Yeah. This is got the drag ducks and some other things inside the race car. So this is this is more like, well, we'll see more often most these mile and a half short. So looking forward to the weekend here in Vegas and feel really good about it. Do you think you're going to be running wide open all the time? I think we'll run wide open quite a bit. But I think it's really going to be depending on where you're at and traffic if you get really big drafts up to the car in front of you. I don't think you're going to be able to run wide open. And then just how how the cars handle and traffic, I think that's still a little bit of an unknown. So I think there will be a lot of wide open. Really fast laps. But I think as the tires wear and the sun's out and the track gets a little bit slick handling and driveability will come into play. Also anytime there's a new model release. There's a little uneasiness with teams Mustangs performing well, though. Right. Yeah. The everybody saw what happened last year was Chevrolet. And I think that was that gave everybody kind of a hyper awareness to to not allow that to happen to us and really make sure that we pay attention to everything and everybody at Ford performance and everybody at Hoss and Pinski and Rouch and all the teams they collaborated to help launch the Ford Mustang have done a great job. And we've had speed, you know, the first few weeks of the year and. You know, obviously getting a poll last week at Atlanta and winning the race with with Brad, certainly a great sign for Ford, and it's really cool to have the Ford Mustang back out on the racetrack are on this. West coast swing do you plan on flying back and forth or you're going to stick it out here. I'm going to go back and forth this first week. And then the second week undecided. I might stay out. So that's a lot. That's really grind going back and forth every week just because your body clock. Kind of gets switched over to west coast time after spending a few days out here. The first weekend, you go home, and you're jetlagged and really just junk parts for two or three days and about the time you start feeling better. It's Thursday in your back on an airplane flying back out west. So this first week. I'm I'm gonna go home. I missed the kids..

"The weird helmet buffering. Issue or the helmet was gonna fly without the helmet. The hood of the car was gonna fly off. And then then he had a weird pit road. Uncontrolled tire penalty and several other things out his that ruined his his whole situation. Then of course, like you said Ryan Blaney leading. And then there it went. So it's a weird day for Team Penske they were very strong again. But just finishes they deserve child Larsen hit the wall. So that's not really conducive to running. Well, no. And when he got to pit road looks like he was going to be okay, they'd fix it and send them back out. But then the thing caught on fire, and it was pretty pretty intense to watch from my point of view. I don't think that's the way it should be running on fire. No, usually not. So apparently, they sheared a break line or oil line of some sort when he slapped the wall and that angle things, and it took a while for them put that thing out they had like four or five firefighters trying to shoot the fire extinguishers in there to put that thing out and just kept starting back up. So I don't know how much TV show. Of that. I think there are commercial and all that was kind of happening. But it was pretty well watching person I saw certain amount of fire. So must have been been there somewhere. Hey op next week got to Eric L Merola, and you're gonna listen and I'm going to chat with him. And then you'll smile this is Jeff L w man. "There. But impose sports, we all know, the hardest thing is stay up there weekend and week out. Because you know, we got so many really good cars. Many good owners good. Good competitors. Is the best racing world. So it's it's a man. It's Joe Gibbs racing season. Isn't it it is? And so you mentioned the two pit road penalties. He not only had the speeding on pit road. And the the uncontrolled tire penalty. He also missed pit road at one point had to go all the way back around anti ran out of gas. How do you recover and win with all that? Well, I mean like we said. Earlier. There was no tire fall off. And for whatever reason he was the only guy him Chris gave heart and said, you know, what let's try this no tire thing and see if it gets some space on the track and it did every time and they were able to hold on every time, and I don't understand any other normal race. You have those issues you have four issues that are that big like that you're down about four or five laps at least not the winner. No, definitely not. You're not even in the conversation. Bush missed is pit stall two. So what was up with the Joe Gibbs pit signs or whatever. Well, you know Kabua's running through different races weekend. So he's got three different pit sons. So I'm sure that was part of his confusion in Crimea river. Okay, stage to winner has won the last five races. That was a weird stat. It is a weird set. And it was funny that DWI brought it up on on the air with Dinnie. And any said why I don't think it's really gonna help us any. Well, maybe if it was a DWI stat, it's not correct then. Well, I think it is true because somebody else did the stat research for him. Okay. But it was just funny then he's response to them was great Joe Gibbs racing. Now has four wins the season they do. So it's still a jobs racing Team Penske world that we're all living in this is this is wild. Now that said we saw signs of hope a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel there for Hendrick motorsports. Yeah. They were definitely they came alive this week Jimmy Johnson. Like we said on the poll that sixty one laps. Chase Elliott led thirty five laps or so William Byron led fifteen laps as well. Byron Johnson top ten chase Elliott kind of faded late thirteenth. Then. Poor. Alex Bowman had a great fast primary car crash in Kuala. Fai to start in the bag worked his way back up to eighteenth at the finish. I think so in okay day for some of the Hendrick cars, very good day for a couple of them that really needed it. So that was big for them. And Stewart Haas racing all four there guys inside the top ten. So there are some teams that are starting to work their way up to this. But man, it's still still Joe Gibbs racing Team Penske Brad Kozlowski had to go to the garage with drive train issues. Just wouldn't would move the tires. No. He wouldn't it just wouldn't leave pit road. So that's a real bummer for him. I know he wanted to follow up his martinsville. Win the dominating win with a possible chance at winning this race at Texas. But it was really rough week inform in general he was nudged out of the way twice during the extended series race before crashing. And then of course, this in the Cup race for just a mechanical failures. That's real bummer. Well until Team Penske as a whole had issues, a joy llegado had problems. And and Ryan Blaney was leading and blue. Yeah. Joy Lagawa one stage. One had the weird helmet buffering. Issue or the helmet was gonna fly without the helmet. The hood of the car was gonna fly off. And then then he had a weird pit road..

"Is still free as always, right? So that's a good price. Eric Merola who I chatted with and Ryan Sieg. Who chatted with what an awesome week for him? By the way, one stage finish top ten yet. Again. It's because you got gotta be I mean serious. Absolutely Eric Merola, you know, continues to to notch off top ten's. It's because of me, of course, six straight top ten by the way for him. It's all me. That's insane. I mean, the stars of NASCAR come to the final AP weekly to chat and only good things happen afterwards. It's very true. It's very true unless they get engulfed in flames. But we don't claim those. That's true. That's true. We also have something that we've been waiting for for a very long time. A Jimmy Johnson. It's been a while. It has been a while. So it's actually been long enough now where I'm not annoyed by it. Well, we had I think one bonanza in the middle of the off season just at random, and you question that one was really annoying because he hadn't done anything at that point. But actually did something this week. So it's it's deserve. That's why I figure, you know, be good week to do that. Yeah. Plus, he talks about the, you know, the ridiculous NASCAR qualifying garbage. So he does. Yes. We've got them talking about that. Despite him getting the poll he still has some things to say I got some of his post race audio as well. If you need it later. Oh, well, that might have been helpful to. But you didn't tell me ask him about his Twitter. I asked him about Twitter haters as well. All right. So we've got all that coming up later on in the program. Well, let's get into the Texas Motor Speedway race recap in style ten on and yes, he finished tenth. But Kyle Busch. He led the most laps was on his way to certain victory, but he doomed himself. Yeah. He at a little. So impatient. As he said after the race got a little bit loose. Kyle the groove collected it and just got more impatient. Again, trying to make up the spots that he lost waiting to get to pit road and make up the spots on pit road. He he put it in the wall trying to catch up too quickly. Yeah. His brother was a top ten number nine Kurt Busch. Then Kevin Harvick he seems to be you know, in that six to eight th place kind of guy. Now, he was not very happy. Either of this race. He was in the media bullpen and didn't understand why he was there because he didn't have a very good day. He was lucky to finish eighth. He was more like a fifteenth place car. Most today he has he's very upset about the tires. A good years brings racetracks. Yeah. You'll even posted something that there was no fall off. No there wasn't. I mean Denny Hamlin. We're gonna talk about what he did this week. But he had like four different problems on pit road throughout the day and made up all the ground both times throughout the day. Just by going with no tires, which you don't do ever especially amount of half track. But it worked.
