"Managing director at the Wise Investor group fared just have a few more minutes just before the break. I was highlighting Amazon is a stock that I have my eye on. You know, we own some for our clients already, but What's particularly attract, appears not the fact that they're an undiscovered stock. Obviously, there are a household name. One of the best companies in the world, but because it shares haven't gone anywhere in a year, they've underperformed basically been flat for 12 months. If you look at the 15 year history of Amazon when it had periods of underperformance like this, it's often been a precursor to really strong growth phase for them. I love the fact that their fastest growing businesses, their best performing businesses are also their highest margin businesses. Web services advertising. Okay, not so much their e commerce business. Uh and as such, you're basically getting the e commerce business for free if you look at valuations of other cloud businesses, So I really like this company. I think they're going to double their operating cash flow over the next 56 years. You have to be patient. But if you're willing to be patient, you need to own it. I'd say the same thing about Apple Simple A pl trading around 1 48 hit an all time high Just a couple weeks ago. Up to about 1 56 stock is backed off of that level, mainly because of a mixed ruling in a pretty significant U. S. District Court for the Northern District of California Court case of Epic versus Apple Epic, of course, is a video game manufacturer. Online video games of the parent company of Fortnite. Probably if you have kids or grandkids, they probably play fortnite or have played fortnite, particularly during the shutdown phase of, uh, last year and again, the ruling was mixed. On the one hand, Apple prevailed in the sense that They were clearly not labeled a monopoly. Okay. Epic was trying to claim apples of monopoly. Apple doesn't even have number one market share in the Andrew and in that space android does so Apple prevailed on that count, where Apple did not prevail was the judge issued a permanent injunction preventing Apple from prohibiting developers. From communicating with customers and directing customers to forms of payment outside of Apple. So what that means is apple. The way they're set up on the APP store. Is that, um Customers have to pay through Apple, The company like epic does not have the ability to route customers outside of the apple infrastructure, so Apple has been able to retain all that revenue. Okay. Uh, the judge said they can no longer do that. Okay, So whether this is a one and done case or whether this is a, you know, just one of several cases coming from other video game manufacturers. Who knows? I'm sure Apple's going to appeal. The economic impact of this on Apple is very unclear at this point. Okay about 30% of Apple's services, business and gross profit comes from the APP store. That's about 10% of total company gross profits. Okay, so it's not insignificant. I don't think there's any circumstances under which Apple would lose all that profit. Okay, But I do think it is fair to say that it could haircut some of that revenue and some of that profit so it's not immaterial, but I don't think anywhere is material, as some people have said. And the thing about analysts, you know a lot of times, they're just analyzing numbers in front of their face. I think what I really like about Apple. Is there consistently opening up new markets. I mean, obviously, the five G phone market is going to be explosive. Once people figure out That They need to upgrade their phone to five G. There are over a billion apple products in existence right now, lot of people still hanging onto their iPhone, aids and tens and twelves once they realized that they need to five G phone. That's going to trigger a gargantuan upgrade cycle but also other markets throughout the world. Apple's fortunes in India, the world's second largest smartphone market, are starting to turn around. Most recent, um, quarter iPhone maker recorded a 5% increase in shipments in India. Despite a lot of other overseas markets, not doing as well. They are really starting to get some traction there. They're offering a lower priced phone that I think will be particularly adaptable to that market and also have relationship with the Indian government to incentivize smartphone production and to make India a manufacturing hub. So I think, uh, that is something I haven't even read about up until about two weeks ago in the.

Unpacking the Apple vs Epic Ruling

"Versus epic. We kind of got the ruling after the whole lawsuit. We've talked about it before epic suing apple because they made them take out button that was leading people pay on third party site in apple. Obviously with their iowa store in their thirty percent. Cut doesn't want that to happen. so kind of is like Win lose lose more. Even though that's three parties there's only two parties associated. This seemed like everybody was not happy yet. Kind of kinda sorta so pretty much. The judge ruled that they're not being anti-competitive they claim. Success is not illegal and both apple and third party developers like epic have symbiotically benefited from ever increasing innovation and growth from the ios ecosystem. Fair feels pretty fair now they did also though and this is what kind of is a lose aspect for apple is that they They ruled there for permanent nationwide injunction blocking apple not only from keeping iphone users in the dark about alternate ways to pay but potentially allowing developers to stick their own purchase mechanisms into apps. So that's a win for developers. I'm yeah so initially that one rule that Epic was pretty mad about was that in-app purchases had to go through apple's payment method which automatically took a thirty percent cut and the argument was. Why should there be an only apple at purchase that there should be other options to be able to have our own in-app purchase methods. Should be offer alternates. Maybe some of them are cheaper because they don't have to go through a thirty percent cut from apple and this ruling is that apple will now need to allow other purchase methods for in-app purchases and there's a little bit of they're not quite sure how this is gonna work. What constitutes a button inside it and stuff so that'll be a little weird but so the reason epic doesn't really win on. This is because the way they started. This whole suit was by adding that and the judge also ruled that it was a breach of the contract and apple is allowed to continue to knock basically let four-night back into the not. Give them back their developer account. So while you are there blocking that and you will potentially be able to put a button in for this kind of skirting. The rules epa can't because they're not allowed back in apple store epic knew what they're doing when they broke the rules so developers win apple kind of loses epic really loses. Because they're not back on the ios store and they also had to pay some sort of a fine because of the money that they made in that process of breaching the contract. So that's super super. Te'o dr version of a all have links in the description. So you can read the full thing. It's super interesting But yet it's been going on for a long time and yeah it also seems like it's far from over anytime there's just like all right another year of like back and forth between like researching each other so that is a still developing but that's at least some development

"Own payment processing instead of apple's processing part of their stunt was to put them side by side not to completely remove apples in app purchasing and replace it with their own. But that i believe would still not be allowed under this injunction. It's gonna be interesting to see because epic is already appealed and a lot of this is going to be tested. Whether it's right or wrong. People will test different scenarios and it also has an american ruling apples and international customer. We saw how they reacted to the japanese. The previous japanese ruling but by making a sort of global change. But we haven't seen any indication of how they'll respond to this but my favorite summation of all of this was early on it was stephen warwick was covering it for future for months. And he just said to sum up epa games one after being defeated in court apple forced to make massive sweeping get very minor changes that will change absolutely everything and yet nothing for developers and will cost the company. It's huge app. Store cash cow. That is actually very tiny. Epic games plans to appeal against this. Victory and apple has welcomed the court ruling against it is pretty good after after. that show. was that a tweet. Did he get that all in. Yes yes you tweets. That's actually pretty good for a tweet. If is correct and this is far more sweeping than we are thinking it's also with certainty far. More sweeping than apple is thinking. I was part of a press event. Press call friday afternoon after. This was You know on there is an on. The on the record statement from kate adams the chief legal officer at apple and then a fairly substantial a period that was off the record on background with people from apple. And did they clearly see that See this as steering only Yes and know and people And i think some of the reaction out there is like a like me. Tweeting that A few other media people who were on the call tweeting that just saying not saying you know. This is my legal opinion. Apple doesn't think that that's what it means the knee-jerk reaction against that was of course apple's going to spin it their way but there's i don't understand what the thinking is there because it's not like they're gonna spin judge gonzales rogers right like if judge dollars rogers really meant you have to allow all third party apps to do their own payment processing inap- for digital good purchasing the app apple telling the press the day that the ruling came out. That's not how see it not only doesn't help them at all it. It hurts them because if they're trying to set expectations for let's just say investors right. It does no good for them to to have. Let's say at eight week period. A initially after the ruling people like. Oh it only means anti steering. Because that's what apple thinks. And then they go to get clarification before gonzales rogers. And she's like no no. I meant something else entirely which is much worse for the company. Well then. That's that's bad for apple. This does there is no. There is no advantage to spinning this in any way. The judge won't care what twitter's hot takes are not one little bit. The other thing that i thought was very telling was that epic epochs lawyers and ceo. Tim sweeney interpreted it the exact same way as apple to that. They got their pants taken from them on every single issue except the steering which epoch itself didn't really care about like. I don't think being able to tell people i think it's better than nothing. You know from epic or any other game maker's perspective to say you can go to epic dot com or fortnight dot com whatever. Their website is and by v box there at lower price. But if you can't process them in the game you remove the ability to. Let's be frank impulse purchases right right. And they also didn't say anything about a lot of these hot takes didn't address the previous part about well. Tim cook set. The judge also. Didn't say anything about apple. Not being able to collect commissions whether you're using your own purchase or even collecting money outside the app store. None of that was specifically ruled out by this either right and that was a curious part of tim. Cook's testimony which i don't think went very well to be honest but maybe went well legally i think publicity wise. It went pretty poorly maybe legally wise. He made good points and he obviously was sticking to a script of a talking point about the legal right of a company even if they have a monopoly and are deemed to have a monopoly. They still have a right to profit from their own intellectual property which he emphasized over and over again and that to me gets to the core of what apple was concerned about. Why apple posited this as a resounding victory is that apple i think was most concerned about being deemed a monopoly and that changes again. Monopolies aren't illegal but then all of a sudden the laws. That's the big lesson. I remember learning twenty some years ago from the microsoft case you you grow up thinking monopolies illegal or something or just plain bad but it's no it's just it's just a different set of laws apply when you're deemed to have a monopoly and it's very clear that that was what apple was concerned about in their initial press. We are statement about this. Were about how She very clearly said that they. This is not a monopoly. Under state or federal law in california and japan fair trade commission thing said the same thing that other than this issues of steering anti steering provision for quote unquote reader apps. We don't see anything. That's a monopolist anticompetitive behaviour at apple. She clearly drew her own market definition which i thought was great too because the other ones were way too far in either extreme. Yeah yeah and she said for for the for the purposes of this case that the market was. Actually i forget what it was mobile gaming yet with. Mobile gaming could a- applies definitely to android. Does it apply to the switch. A lot of this is very curious to me. Yeah i think it does apply to the switch because she was the one member. She's the one who brought it up where it was something with you know she. She like embarrassed when epic's lawyers at one point during the thing she was like. Yeah but i could play on my switch on. You can't play the pc version of fortnight. While you're on the bus and she goes well. I can play it on the switch and he was like yes yeah. He was rather early abused. So we shall see the reason. I don't want to belabor this too much is i. there's no point right. It's a we'll find out soon enough but i do think it's very instructive. That epochs lawyers interpreted the same way that apple's did which was that they lost everything except the anti steering not in purchases and i. It's why they're appealing right and the argument that well of course apple's going to spin it in the most favorable way for apple then wouldn't those same people think epic would spin it in the most beneficial way to epic. No they spun it the exact same way which was that the only thing that should change if the injunction stands is the anti steering stuff which is the number one point..

"Renee i feel like before we get to yesterday's event which was am i correct was yesterday. Yes i to look at the calendar but yes it was before we get there we. I haven't done show since last week. When the yvonne gonzalez rogers issued a ruling in the big apple case. And i do not want to spend a lot of time on this because i do not have a lot of insight tad but i will say that. The very most curious thing about it is how incredibly wide ranging the interpretations of the injunction against apple are from the companies and from pundits. So it's a short one page junction. It's that that whole thing about you know blah blah blah and meta data buttons People aren't quite sure. What the hell a meta data button is which isn't what she meant No there's i guess on the one side is i will throw neil patel under the bus. And he's he pad a piece at the verge with they sort of maximalist interpretation of it. Which is that if you're if they're not if apple is no longer allowed to prohibit companies from directing users to external payment methods with buttons. Then the button that they're not allowed to prohibit could be an inapt payment button that processes credit cards right in the app. If you only look at the injunction isn't crazy at all. New eli is. he's a friend. He's a frequent guest on the show. He's also former attorneys attorney You know i. I happen to think. Though that he's all wet on this interpretation and again the injunction taken by itself the one page in junction. Very ambiguously-worded really kind of odd. But it was delivered as part and parcel with the one hundred fifty eight page. I believe ruling. Yeah which is a good read. Did you read it. Yeah i got. I skimmed it more than read it. But i think i got host salient points. I always think. I'm going to read these things and then i do. You have to skim at some point. But it's is very good. And i think you know i i know it's sorta like file this under da but it is a very good and fair comprehensive overview of the whole debate the whole thing about the whole way the app. Apple's app store works all of epic's various complaints about the way that the app store actually works. It is a terrific lay persons overview comprehensive fair accurate Very well organized to which is you know. And you know what that's like. You know writing scripts for videos and writing articles. I mean a hundred fifty eight pages effectively. It's small book. It's very well organized. Which is very difficult. But i think when you read the ruling it's very and having followed along with the trial. And again i didn't watch the trial everyday because that seemed like madness but watching the reading the nightly recaps back in may. It was very very clear that she was casting a legal stink eye on apple's anti steering provision. Yes specific yes. She was really smart like judge. Gonzales he's sort of what you hope for. You always have these nightmares. That you're gonna get completely tech illiterate judge without going to know what they're doing and make sort of arbitrary decisions that are terrible for everybody but throughout the entire trial from the way. She threw shade at the lawyers at the witnesses at everybody sort of drove into the heart of every matter. I thought was very impressive. Yeah so you know. And i think this controversy over metadata buttons is the phrase. I haven't now in front of me. There permanently restrained and enjoined does apple from prohibiting developers from one other calls including in their apps and their meta data. I think should like a colon. There like an implied colon in their apps and their meta data colon buttons external links or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms. In addition to enact purchasing which is capitalised and. She says in a footnote elsewhere that capitalized in app. Purchasing is apple's system and to communicating with customers through points of contact obtain voluntarily. In other words. They can email customers if they get permission to have their bill. Which again clearly. Using apple's app store guidelines as the basis for that freezing right my interpretation of this again. I'm not a lawyer. But in the context of the ruling is it is just steering provisions and so if it comes to pass an apple doesn't appeal this and it comes into action it would allow any and all apps to tell users. Hey in addition to our in app purchasing which goes through apple an apple gets their thirty percent or fifteen percent. You could go to our website and sign up for nine ninety nine instead of twelve ninety nine or whatever. The price difference may be or even. If it's a game like the the fortnight technique would be not that you can do what they did. Right knee lie saying argument. Is that like what fortnight did would now be legal because fortnight for people who don't remember there seems you know it was only for a couple of days. It was easy to mess. But fortnight didn't replace in app purchasing with their own purchasing system. They left them both in it. With the the so-called hot fix you know paying that enabled this version of fortnight and specifically. They did that because they wanted to. Prove the point that given the choice many users would choose to save twenty percent by using epic's.

Apple Must Allow Other Forms of in-App Purchase, Rules Judge

"Apples expected to real a new iphone today but the biggest update may be in its app store. That's because of a ruling in the epoch versus apple lawsuit which came down in apple's favor with one big exception. A judge ruled that apple does not have to reduce the fees. It charges developers in its app stores. It's currently from fifteen to thirty percent. Fortnight epochs gay may. We're maine's banned from the app store. However because they broke their contract over the judge allowed the divers can use a non apps or payments to get around the apple store fees. That's a big change. It's a big win. Epoch still filed an appeal because it didn't declare apple monopolised etc etc. It's a really interesting ruling and to me. Apple did when they were going in this direction anyway with their previous settlement the week before and more gherman who writes really well about apple was like look. It's not that much money for them. They were going in this direction. Anyway and most people will probably still pick. Apple is the payment system. So what do you think about mark. Gherman swanee guess is your dog walker now anyways Look this was. This is an interesting case of the media deciding. Wouldn't it be more interesting to say. Epic fail for apple right and the reality was it was probably more of a win for our it distills down to it. A lot of anti-trust lawyers on both sides of the issue will say that it being a monopoly as an illegal. It's abusing monopoly power. And what they've said is okay you've minder standing of the ruling is the judge has basically said you've invested a lot. You've done a good job. People get utility from this consumers. Clearly love it. They don't feel angry that they you know they. They have to wait for someone to come installed their cable between the hours of one and five and three months because you have a regulated monopoly. But what they've said is its monopoly abuse. You can continue to charge thirty percent. You can continue to have somewhere between fifty five and eighty five percent market share depending on how you calculated. But we can't do is when someone's downloaded the app. Then decide that all tail activity within the app. You get a commission on their saw that as monopoly

Apple vs Epic Games Lawsuit: Apple Must Allow Other Forms of in-App Purchase

"Us judge yvonne gonzalez rogers came back with her ruling in the epic games versus apple fight on friday her decision to seen by most as a win for apple. Not an outright win. More of a. It could have been a lot worse win. Basically apple has to lead developers put buttons and links and their apps to take customers to third party. Payment options effectively says a piece from tech crunch. The judge has ruled that apple cannot prohibit developers from adding links for alternative payments beyond apple's app store based monetization remember the deal apple made with lawmakers in japan for outside payments for reader apps. Yeah this is basically that but for every app that wants to take advantage. According to the ruling apple can no longer stop developers from one including in their apps and their meta data buttons external links or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms in addition to end up purchasing and to communicating with customers through points of contact obtained voluntarily from customers through account registration within the app. Not what apple would have wanted but again could have been worse. The app store might have been deemed a monopoly. It was not according judge gonzales rogers while the court finds that apple enjoys considerable market share of over fifty five percent and extraordinarily high profit margins. These factors alone. Do not show antitrust conduct. Success is not illegal with that bart apple was

"Apple can no longer force developers to using that purchasing judge ruling epa. I saw this. I was literally just reading about this breaking news. I love the breaking news. On my i surprise. I don't know what it's uh could have gone either way in this case But i guess would it. Would it means is that the judge has determined. That apple has not sufficiently proven their case that the thirty percent take is justified And then you have all these massive implications because because of this ruling. I presume you would have a peon appeal. What does it say here. In injunction that apple will no longer be allowed to prohibit developers from providing links or other communications that direct us away from apple in that purchase. Like this is exactly what apple. What epic wanted one. It's a big victory. Lebron exactly what epic was going for a case that they were making the judge agreed with that and not apple.

Apple Mostly Wins in Fortnite Trial, but Must Ease Payment Rules

"News. The epic versus apple trial on at eight covered. A bunch of it. We covered it very in depth. It had twists and turns. It had a lengthy digression into what the definition of a game is. We knew this was coming very soon. It's funny because there's an apple event on tuesday but friday morning the ruling doesn't hit first injunction against apple hits i the injunction says apple can't prohibit developers from linking to other kinds of payment systems and other stuff. We'll get into it but that's that's big news on its face. Then there's a ruling i would say. The ruling is for epic lost a bunch at explain the shape of the ruling to people. So at the very highest level the ruling is ruling both on epochs claims against apple which are antitrust related and then counterclaims. That apple made against epic which were mostly breach-of-contract related. So the really big thing that epochs been arguing is that iowa's ecosystem itself is an unlawful monopoly. Just sort of by existing in the state at does and that claim failed. There was the idea that ios locking down app distribution not allowing third party. Stores are not allowing side loading was a thing that apple was doing to lockout competition and was violating anti trust laws that also failed then related. There's an argument that apple had been doing been of self preferencing. It's own apps and creating a bunch of sort of pretexts to kick apps out of the app store also not illegal or not convincingly breaking antitrust law. There is apple. The idea that apple is illegally tying in-app purchases. Which were the thing like the box. The sort of central issue in the case To the rest of the app store and that they should have let people used in cell in-app purchases a sort of completely separate product That also failed

Epic vs. Apple Case: Judge Rules Apple Must Allow Third Party Payment Options

"This just happened but a judge ruled that apple has to give developers the ability to charge money or place buttons to charge money or link to other pages pages that charge money in their apps. This is crazy now. It's been going on for a long enough time. This whole epic versus apple's so there are a lot of opinions and a lot of thoughts about it and i want to look at it from a data perspective that i didn't get a chance to do that because i just saw this But i'm going to go back to my conclusion from last week when we talked about korea. We saw how much money apple and google have to spend on making sure. This doesn't happen and in the. That's exactly what the president did as he met with new jersey governor phil murphy and other state lawmakers he made clear that he was trying to sell his infrastructure plan. That of course now is even more front and center in the conversation. The president also talked about the importance of recognizing and fighting climate change. She sounded almost like a meteorologist at times as he talked about. Wildfires in the west to epic grains in the midwest to storms in the south and beyond the white house says that one in three americans live in counties impacted in recent months by severe weather. This is a sign that president biden said climate. Change must be taken more seriously. Here's what he said this afternoon during a stop in new jersey where he spoke at the somerset. County emergency management training center. Every part of the country is getting hit by extreme weather. And we're now living in real time. What the country is gonna look like. And if we don't do something we can't turn it back very much but we can prevent it from getting worse this an opportunity. I think the country's finally knowledge the fact that global warming is real and it's moving at an incredible pace and we've got to do something about i think we're one of those inflection points. Were act or were going gonna be. We're going to be in real real trouble. Our kids are going to be real trouble.

"This is iron maiden the new album is called. Sent jitsu this is the song days of future past and here to talk about what is An absolutely epic album from iron maiden his npr music. Lar- scotch which. I have two full disclosure. I was listening to iron maiden maybe forty years ago and they've been together longer than that you know and if you told me we'd still be talking about new music from them this far along. I probably wouldn't have believed that like you said. Listen to that rift guitars on this. The songs their vision. Everything i think our i. It's just all fully intact seventeenth album in forty six years from one of the greatest heavy metal bands full time. That's not hyperbole. it's a fact. Album is ten tracks over eighty two minutes so it is long and at times help lead but this has been iron maidens mode lately these grand sweeping epochs that tell these larger than life stories are made may arenas but their music lightly has been more tailored to concert halls. Most of these songs are like eight ten minutes long. Each vase sprawl had many movements. I can. I can imagine like quite a stage. Production for whenever iron maiden contura gone. They do use a lotta runway to get these songs going but but it works. So i think it's still pulls you along. I never found myself feeling tired or like the sound was getting tired. And there's also an assist something has been doing a little bit more lately but there's also a little bit nostalgia. My favorite song written here by the basis. Steve harris is called the parchment. But it's a song that gnaws to the egyptian themes of iron mates nineteen eighty four album power slave. So that's like a nice. It's a nice little easter egg for iron maiden fans and also kind of ties into kind of like a broader idea about iron maiden that history mythology and religion have always played the matic roles in their

"Epic games the company the developers behind fortnight have done something kind of interesting it also kind of ties into what i cover for npr. So i thought it was really interesting. It is as we pointed out in the last segment. It's the anniversary of the march on washington. And dr king's i have a dream speech and they've worked with time studios in time magazine to create this experience called march through time. Players can be teleported to what they're calling. Dc sixty three which is like this kind of a reimagined alternate universe. Washington dc built by users. And you can actually take your character and traveled to the lincoln memorial and the national mall. And here recordings of dr king. Giving the i have a dream speech. There are also like many games that you can do. Yes are you doing the usual fortnight stuff while you're there like my question. This is my question to an eye full disclosure. I have not gotten a check out this experience myself yet but a really smart gaming journalist. I follow erin ashley. Simon actually did you can find on twitter. She put up a four minute. Video of what people are doing. And yeah there's some of the emotes as they call them of people dancing and things like that but you can also hold up signs at the rally. There are collaborative experiences. That are sort of educational. There were puzzles. So yes some of the traditional fortnight stick. But there's also kind of a learning angle here too. I see people describing it as like an interactive online museum.

One expert on gift of adversity, Marcus, own really is Anderson. Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the Conscious Millionaire Epoch achiever show I'm your host and mindset coach Marcus, release, Anderson, and on Today's epic coaching. Listen I'm going to teach you how to take your life back. Before I started like to thank you so much for all your support because of you this show consciously in epic achiever is now a top one, hundred podcast and multiple categories and is heard by over twelve million people and one hundred ninety countries on the conscious millionaire network. Thank you for sharing these interviews and coaching lessons with others that can learn from this powerful content, and if you haven't already pleased subscriber, write me a quick review because this helps even more people hear this message and ultimately take their lives back. Now on the lesson. Fear of the unknown and. is common as a species, we've instinctually home this fear as defense mechanism for self preservation. However modern society. This instinct often arrests are forward progress. Fear like adversity can take many forms all of which can be equally paralyzing. The fear of requesting arrays asking someone out for coffee or taking a plunge, and finally starting a business keeps the vast majority stuck in their current and often unfulfilling circumstances. And fear this not kept in check can create a cycle of an action that keeps US frozen in place. The gap between where you are now and where you want to be is separated. By action. This action is inhibited by you guessed it fear. And overtime this fear makes compromise and every facet of our life. Compromise leads to mediocrity. And misery loves company but not as much as mediocrity. While preparing to deploy with the military I suffered a severe spinal injury that left me paralyzed from the neck down and my world went sideways. When I was told that I would never be able to walk or use my hands again, I was overcome with anger rage regret and fear of my potential future. While I was still bedridden I made a promise to myself right then and there. I swore that if I was ever able to get out of that bed and walk again if I was ever given a second chance that I would never settle never hesitate and never compromise on my dreams and ambitions again. See, this is the mice that you must have in order to get where you WANNA go. This is the mentality you must adapt to overcome the adversity that you will inevitably face. You will find that fear is a natural reaction when moving closer to the truth. And I'm very aware that the first step to overcoming fear is the hardest. So, when you find yourself frozen by fear and indecision, stop for a second, take a deep breath and remember this. Imagine the consequences. If. You do nothing. Imagine the consequences if you continue to compromise. Imagine the consequences if you keep letting life, just happen to you. Imagine the consequences if you do nothing. Here's the truth. What you tolerate is well will continue. When you tolerate excuses you're justifying their existence and this encourages them to expand and grow in every facet of your. Life. To truly maximize your potential. The correct mindset to allow crystal clear clarification of purpose and intention is absolutely vital. Therefore from this moment forward, there is something that you absolutely must do. You must take full responsibility for where you are right now. You need to be brutally honest with yourself and realize that everything that you have ever encountered every roadblock every stroke of bad luck. Every bad break that you've been telling yourself that is holding you back. Is simply an excuse. Reality is that diversity is relative and no matter. The hardship that you've ever endured. There are plenty of people throughout history and who are alive today that have gone through and overcome far greater -versities they what you will ever encounter in your life. There are literally millions of people all over the world who would give anything. To have the opportunities that you are taking for granted and complaining about this very moment. What are you going stop making excuses and finally take control of your life. You are far stronger than you even realize. act like it. Does end the lesson. If you're an entrepreneur or CEO with seven figure business that's plateaued or simply wants to level up to eight figures and beyond if you're tired of compromising, then send me an email with level up in the subject line to see how we can work together. "Gave me this incredible kind of reinvigorating might work ethic which was already there really really much to the point where I was at my hands. In everything I keep my web tight APSO many side hustles in. That's my biggest recommendation. Anybody if you have opted side hustles take it. Don't feel need. Explain yourself to anybody about your side. Hustles is of course. You're going to have a boss Appear somewhere down on it. But you're working for that superior to build their during our governor great so have as many houses as possible nats meaning and That was out of that moment but out of all the lessons this last move is the most This adversity made me realize in a look at this for this reason is to never define myself. I work ever again. Angelus is such a town. Where if you aren't working in if you don't have a career if you'll have that tag to have that title people look down it causes you look down south not everyone at the people you love telling my wife or my son My wife loved me for being a great husband. My son loved me for being a great fodder. He didn't care about my work. Incubate myself worth in what I deemed. Mice Southworth my wife wanted me to get outside not to network to take care my mind to get some energy to to understand that. I can't be defined by my job. And you can't be but toon extent you can't let that defining there's so much more to that. That was the biggest lesson I learned from that that adversely I was I became for the first time. I desolate during those ten months nine months because I suddenly was stripped from this power that I had this TV producer booger who everyone respected suddenly. Not having that delivering boxes. Oh my God this is believe me. Now nothing's been you know what I mean. Nothing's ever and I'm glad I realized that to do it all at the Grove Myself Vibe. I talk to people all the time I had a guy that asked me to mentor him. Who's trying to build a business and he I connected with them not too long ago and he basically this was actually puppies and he basically Saying that he was having a rough time. That's why this is Jim. Mrs and accelerating as much as fast as like it and I have to take a day job as a okay. Yeah unlike wise. You're right I just feel like I'm failing. Not just keep at his. Yeah but it's nine to five thing is not for millions from that man. Don't be too hot in yourself about that. He was transferred live in. And this was the first time I've known you about me those boxes but my wife and never told and he was the first person on told us that. Let me tell you and I told him this. Exact story and it felt great weight off my chest in that tonight. I ate shameful circle that I can look down on what I did the choice for them. League and enactment really hit the lesson really capable circles. I was finding myself of my work so it was very therapeutic to tell him the story and then it became a part of my narrative. Which is why I'm Tony. Now and I've told it before since I'd stat person but yeah it just it. That's the biggest lesson all. Cni that strikes. A chord with me because You know me being in the military and being a soldier being able to do all these incredible physical things you're getting ready to deploy you're doing stuff. You never thought you could possibly do especially at at my age at the time because I joined when I was thirty eight and then to have that physicality strip from me and to be in bed and not be able to do anything just like you said men especially there say it are lots of times vocation identifies who we are and are worth like you said. I'm so glad that you had the love your wife and your son. Obviously that they gave you that to to help you understand because like you said there's no telling how far you know that desperation how far you would slit and were you would have ended up. Had you not had that sort of support and that emotional INA reinforcement which is so powerful and important yet important. I credit my wife's family for being there and dealing with my you know my destination just fill in Dallas. I felt so sorry for myself it was able to win. It was legitimate was down myself and who wouldn't be to the point where I was feeling. Sorry for myself The victim mentality. We have it right. It feels get self-serving you're at right at birth and she was patient in. She is iol just understanding that she still saw the man that she fell in love. It you know she's like I work in your credits repressive. But that's now you and make some sense now. I'm glad I could be back here and now I realize I to get back to that Louis. Nothing nothing can happen. Yeah so now. I have some perspective to hopefully handle that. In fact in fact I did have a sliver. I mean a very small moment on employees After Rabat to work it was in between the time that I decided the league's I went back into the district. Tv and that was a music and in between the time. But I met Tom. I remember I was at work and I had a whole different out outlook on it. Said you know okay I been here before and there's no way for it might. I'm okay 'cause I bounced back bounced back again. I'M GONNA bounce back and it just. I was so relaxed. And nothing's nothing's permanent you know. Everything's temporary is how you stood out in advocated that that's what's so interesting because people talk about balance but you and I both know that even nature in physics or anything. It's not really. There's never really a balanced it's more about adaptability than finding stability in response to Stimuli and then able to be in that place so even. Darwinism it's like not the battle the fittest but the species that can adopt the most rapidly is revised. And you did you were able to diversify adapt to your it out. When was the last time you looked at that? That portrait of yourself from back then was was. The last time you did that I saw about a month ago. I was going to mail does organizing categorizing because I think a lot of photos I I did try to on site for years. I'm beautiful which is why I love. Yes alarm caverns When I was doing journalism school in college one of the things. Whether you're a print major broadcast major photo major. They had to take a course in everything and I found love with the photojournalism part of it. Although I was back has made him. And that's where some categorizes autos came across and on my God first of all. That's a damn good portrait. And then secondly concede look is face own guy while in this last my busiest year a ball and we would ask going constantly job way doing this night although I would never do what I did again in the past year 'cause I need to go back to the bounce come back and say. I've been at my lowest of lows in as photo about you. Look to remind me that I get tired Some markets are but words purpose. After a Mommy says why I'm done and it's it's a beautiful testament to that. You had the the wherewithal to take that picture then to know or maybe you didn't know how far originally would be but yet still searching now in that like you said if you have that you can remember that that lowest point in your life like you said everything's up from there. So that's that's fantastic and advocate for that purpose ticket for the purpose to remind myself but I forgot I forgot then saw I came across it. Oh my God is that photo you know so. Yeah so I mean. I guess I didn't have the wherewithal to figure out what the purpose remains as what you do it. Christopher McDonald thank you for sharing your gift of adversity with us. Thank you for being so transparent and helping everybody understand that you know especially when you begin sometimes having a side hustle even when you're successful sometimes have that side hustle is what you need not only to diversify but to give you the stability necessary to be able to do the things that you really wanting to do when you're working towards a purpose as you mentioned. Yeah I kicked go- side hustles. Absolutely everyone I want to thank you for tuning into the conscious millionaire epic achiever show. If you're facing adversity right now. If you sit there and you have a conversation with that person where you from I served in the military also on my dad's that's so cool. How many years juicer? But that's cool. Our Man in your buses come on Amen. Let me get your just like that. That I'm telling you that person down the line can help you or you can help them. You can help each other. It's amazing you had a mutual amazing compensation so going back to the forgetting that forgetting my practice. And how the but when I was on the senior hall show My town coordinator in talent booking It works like this. I'm the town bulker. I have relationships. I know all these reps and all these managers in the mall is talent. And I bought them to come on the show. It's confer the espionage mitalent coordinator is basically a coordinator where I say. Hey I just booked Eddie Murphy to come on this show. Here's his publishes information. Here's his second assistance information. Take this log att. Because he's the one who laws it sets up their travel. Their car in the heat greets them at the door. When they show up in the he'd bring some to me like A. It was up to see you guys this and then land thanks great senior Afghan expert on the show. He takes them. He walks into the car right but the one thing he was very good at was he realized he had the keys to my Rolodex. Right and he wasn't slimy about it by no means that he coach minds nation since he had a conversation. He did this over these people by the time they showed up to the show. They knew that Oh. This was Brian who we were working to his being so gracious helpless come here So he would take care of. The very professional in would say vines. Here's my car right. But he would be like. Here's my car. He would just start collecting. 'cause he developed a report. It wasn't stealing. He developed a report. And it got to the point when I swapped booking music for years and I went on to booking entrepreneurs an office and speakers and I was trying to get back into that side also do music out only God. I don't have that person's these are people who were my connections whether I lost focus phone died in Lhasa records. Or they change your info or Their executive assistants had their new Info at Brian me teams and I found myself Com Brian. My contacts can have the contact my. It wouldn't it literally. It wouldn't have been a problem that because when people show up to the show they bring two or three people with who either assistants are junior associates. Whatever he's getting everyone's Someone that big persons invoke change those. Junior associates now is level. He had there but I was in bothering with. I took myself out of my own practice. Oh my God and I saw how. He benefited major. And now I'm back to a placement comfortable again insecure in my networking. But it made me remember. Will matter what matter where I go if I have a conversation with someone moods he wants me tonight. I take their insult. The easiest thing you can do to Belgian. I'm sorry I was very long. No No. That's that's what we're here for. You've got so much wisdom and I think that's beautiful that you had the the humility to allow that lesson to come back to you. You know like you said because again. It's easy to get this cloud and think what to do that. But again you can either put your fingers in your ears and said well that's just because of this or no you're like no. I want to actually get better at this. I want to learn this lesson so that you don't fall prey to it later on eventually so important. Now we've talked about all kinds of stuff we've talked about. How much books have influenced your life and the people that you're around always reading. What is a book that you would recommend for people that and it can be about entrepreneurship? It can be about networking you could be about. Whatever you think would benefit the people that are listening to us and our audience. Today I would say definitely definitely pick up five. Davis's autobiography and is myth alleged. If you don't know Clive Davis's he's an architect and a lot of votes careers in music The Guy. He knew how to find talent. He's been working in the music industry when music industry essentially started up until this point ease stirred But I mean the guy's amazing in on top of being a visionary and being able to project success of certain artists he also is just an amazing wants for this. I mean I you learn so much about this guy. And he's one of those guys out in the. Nfl got with a couple. Times is one of those guys that he named jobs a lot but it's not discussed because he name drops 'cause he chimney drop none. I mean the guy asked on cross paths with everybody was able to nurture Sunday careers and And the guy's a lot of wisdom So I suppose book like that I feel very Kinda Cross pollinates in many different genres in many different vocations If you're in any type of business food business will this music business whether being author weather whatever you will gain some insight and wisdom from Davis? One hundred percents definitely recommend it and he was a hard worker. You know what I mean I read I read a lot of fiction mainly about when I do read nonfiction. It tends not to be of the books that most people read them to our business. You know Tony Robbins and stuff like that. Nothing against I'm not casting aspersions books just for me. It's crazy 'cause doing what I do with Tom. Billy I should be reading but ice skating tomorrow. Redway values principles that which is great either. Commit to But for me just because I come from a background of love and Music. I realized musicians. They just to me. The most amazingly beautifully artistically driven people and so many of them who have been able to endure a long career. Were able to do that because of not just their talent. Abba Chester business. Atkins that they've had to learn along the way so. I highly recommend reading a lot of business boxes. I mean I'm sorry musician by Mace which Lewisham Eric Clapton got a bike. This another one. It's fantastic you know what I mean which you learned from that one is. Here's a guy who struggled a lot with his addictions drug and sex addiction and So he you learn how to deal with your addictions. We all have some type of Whether it's money whether it's whatever it's so transparent it's probably the more honest biography of the most honest but I should say So highly recommend that but go on and on about music. Biographies on that people should read again. That kind of crosses songs. No I agree and you learn a tremendous amount about like you say reading a book this nonfiction or even fiction book is fine but when you know that that person's actually gone through it has a lot more. Gravity and the impact is is definitely undeniable for sure Christopher IF PEOPLE WANNA learn more about you what you have going on with with all the things. You're doing where would you send people? I would always say. Go to my laden you can look up. Madonna. I got one of the first few that Pop May examine search. I'm searching to our Guy GonNa my legs my twitter also. My twitter almost is. I joined twitter. Kinda late But joining US senior hall you kind of get a sense of who have worked with and and PLO certain things also about things that I'm interested in is strictly non personal a my personal. It's me and my family. I don't really I'm not most inciteful versus home and Cigar But we're a lot about the shows work effort but I always say go to maintain because I get it abundantly a lot daily. So I'm a little delayed but I don't from there 'cause I alluded to earlier as much as I can try to. Tonight's respond back no matter what. That's how my networks if I had to hit me up from a from on Nepal Nepal at but places in that region ends a Watch that or hey happens in the cross and they love your resume. Do you have any advice for me and I try to take a moment to do. Lincoln is probably where on the most appropriate and then also Connections slash I dot com slash I DOT COM and failings? Its List my website on there and you can find twitter's on their also mind G. But definitely much. What are definitely that you can even get You can even go to impact through that to see what I'm doing. Time billion impact areas You'll get me being it's You know if you email me which is ironic. "TV. it's just something. I had to do because I couldn't go to bed at night knowing that I was waiting on but there are people who often crafts because I was getting pulled into new directions. But it's just something again going back to the practice of networking I think even on my and and we all know this Everyone passes each other. Sometimes you come back then. Sometimes you stay up on. Everyone's doing this so I keep that in mind on as a network you've got to realize that no matter of watch someone who's down here is going to be up here one day and you're GonNa be so I play the long game. I think I had a little side story when I was booking tattoo. Smiley show there was a young girl who was junior publicis. Forget Jim and junior publicist labels. They tend to get all the new artists. Are the artists trying to still drew out or the reject artists of label? And I say reject I use that term loosely? 'cause it's the ones that they don't pay too much attention because they have hit artists that the label all their money and timings marketing than they have yourself. You know you never really GonNa make it become is not much so since he was a junior app spe gave her all those people. That's a bad for. She would call me and say hey aging person on the show and because she's trying too hard if those noticed that I saw promising even if they really didn't deserve them you'll be on TV. I will try to see what we can can do to make it special in how much Because I believe in her and again I was playing a long game. I well how things work And then you know one of the CADDO reject artists that she inherited Dame's YouTube kid. Who could sing and completed drums? Really well and his name happened to be Justin Bieber and she ended up winning with that one obviously and it took her as a publicist for binging. You're up to a VPN publicity. Look a quick victory in a few years and very well respected policies And you better believe that She remembered you know what I mean. She remembers the people who helped her and paid attention to her. Along the way we have a great relationship and she has great Because of him seems able to garner Other erect other people in Duly Welfare sophomoric at labels and we have a great relationship can rely on as she remembers. I was that person who didn't think of her as she can help me. You know what I mean so you gotta be able to Broadcast People's success. I'm sorry forecast people's will and like you said you've done this long enough to where you can see the earmarks. You can see the characteristics and like you said. That's why if you have a person that comes at you. Abbas earlier aggressively characteristic that we really don't like and that's why again the because from the experience you've seen time and time again okay. This is how they're starting. How are they going to be six months from now or a year from done? So so thank you. I see that I was on. I think that the time home and against insurgents on any engine ever had I try to recommend them. So we're hot wasn't you're studying is scary. No one wants to give you a chance cares. Give you chance as much as I care in. Trying to help injured And but there were interns religiosity in who have had about things who you know. I just question everything to the point. Where it's it's aggressive and yeah I I can't work with them. I can't recommend percents But I I will say that. I've been fortunate enough speaking for impact every almost all the insurance we've had come through their I've never seen a collective group of just the hardest working young people I. It's just it's amazing. I've been really fortunate toward wooster. Amazing years well like I mentioned to you before I I was lucky enough to to be there. Whenever Omar the Rockstar was interviewing Tomlin. Lisa and I will attest to that every single person there. They had their laptop. They were in their place in the corner or whatever it was and they were locked in mission driven laser focused boom. Like you distract those people. They were like a Zen monk in meditation they were just going and it was very impressive and like I say. That's a test Manali to you but to Tom to impact theory to what you all are doing. And it's a very very impressive to see a that tight of a team. That's just goal driven like that. It's incredible yeah and it's a and to me. That feels great. I feel I get excited. I remember how I was when I was coming out of college I I wanted to take on the world. I had fresh knowledge a little self righteous. I Remember Tom. But what what can come get into? Workforce isn't Yadda means like you're hungry and you think Oh my God he's old people. What are they now not thinking about it? Have they had experience But Yeah but the self righteousness aside. I was so hungry so I love to see that In our injures ever minds definitely reminds me. How will in the military I always said? I'd rather have a person that I have to rain back. Then somebody that I have to drag to excellence along the way eleven. That's fantastic. It's it's such. It's such a jerk man and so two everyone will be right back and you want to stay tuned because to Christopher McDonald is about to give you his epic twenty four hour challenge to help you build your network the right way this. And as reminder check out the show notes and everything about today's episode at conscious minor epic Achiever DOT COM out Christopher. We've been talking about a lot of the mistakes that people make when they're trying to network with everybody. What would be a piece of advice that somebody could start applying right now to start building network properly and have the long game in mine. I would say for sure Get yourself out there. Meet People get away from the computer. I've mentioned this before and it seems like a no brainer but it's amazing. How many people just fall played a mean to to his problem? They just they stay behind. Peter emailing folks there instead of actually getting out there instead of actually meeting our set of just meeting people while you know what I mean. I'm a big tip is gives when it comes to networking a really big box. Game is If you have a conversation for more than two minutes with somebody and you actually connect the sounds crazy but man so effective takedown rooms take down the number. I absolutely numbers on my phone. I think who the hell is that you know what I mean. Our taxes go. I don't even know what that is and we'll get to talking and then suddenly I realized all person to train station or that person. Aris you know what I mean And down whatever our hey I have. This personal introduced are. Hey can you have this whatever you know what I mean And you senior network so to grow And this is something that I started practicing a longtime ago years ago but the reason I got rumble the the more more successful I got in my industry in the more and more driven I got I also vowed victims to kinda pushing things aside and forgetting the field work that is required is required to stay ahead of the curve comes to network and one of the things that I forgot was this element that to actually take the time to get someone's Info and I mean as many people as possible because that's how you build a network it is the easiest way.

"And I'm here with our featured guest Josh Timely. Thank you so much for joining us today. We are both honor to have you as a listener and as a reminder check out the show notes about everything that we're talking about today on this episode at Conscious Manner Epoch Achiever DOT COM and also over to Markus Release Anderson Dot Com as well. Now it's time for the epoch achiever twenty four hour challenge Josh. What would be a piece of advice you would give to our listeners that they could apply the next twenty four hours to help them create more influence in addition to the seven things that you talked about the very beginning of the conversation. The number one piece of advice I could give is to figure out your identity who you are at your core in. This isn't Hamma doctor or I'm a marketer. It's not your job title. That's not that role it's not even I'm apparent father husband It's not even that it has to go deeper than that. It has to speak to your mission your purpose in life. What kind of person you are. And the reason why that's so key is because that determines everything else that you're going to do in life because life is not predictable. You go through life and you think Oh. I'm going to go from point. A. TO POINT B. But as soon as you start down that journey things change new opportunities. Come along and if you don't have a sense of your core identity you get lost and you get frustrated in things happen and they throw you off balance and it takes you a long time to recover but if you have that core in place then you look at those challenges and you say hey. Here's a great opportunity. How do I apply who I am to this new situation that I've never considered and you can act more quickly? You can reduce your risk in you get more stuffed and it's more fun. Yeah and like you said in the long run you save a lot of time. It feels like a lot of work at the very beginning. But that's worth what is necessary to be able to find like say the path as opposed to chasing your tail going down a lot of dead ends in the process which I know. That's a learning opportunity but if we can cut that down that's always better right. It feels like a lot of work but we're going to do a lot more. We're going to do a lot of work no matter what right and the thing is a lot of people like to jump into work that feels really productive especially when it comes to influence there like. I'm going to start in my book right now. And they jump in and they start right in a bunch of content but if they don't have their core identity in place they're writing the wrong book and that's a lot of wasted work and that's the type of work we don't want to put the work in on the identity than the rest of it becomes very efficient in lean and it works and I think that's a great point. There's so many people that they think that if they just grinded hustle and work hard. That's enough but like you say if you don't know where you're going really doesn't matter it's like A. It's like an Uber. Without having a destination I mean you can drive around really fast all you want. But if you don't know where you're going to really help you get to that next position to the next place wants to. That's how I feel in Boston traffic a lot. I don't know where I'm going or what I'm doing. This person knows what they're talking about this. I think that that's a great piece of advice. What is another piece of advice that you hear in this arena that so many people seem to echo? But we both know this is pretty much truth. Pretty much false actually. They think that is true. But it's really not corrected all fake it you'll make. It is one of the things that you hear a lot and I mean there's something to that if there were zero truth to that nobody would say it and the part that's true about fake it to make it is. There's something to be said for practicing the motions going through the motions for example you might not feel happy but if you smile and you practice smiling all the time it can affect how you feel. It can affect your mood right. So there's something to the fake it to you Mak- saying but there's so much more to being authentic and showing who you really are and this is the part that people get mixed up as that when you're vulnerable in your transparent you say. I'm struggling with this right now. That vulnerability breeds trust people. Look at that and they say well if they're really willing to open up about that than I feel like I can depend on what they're saying because they're not going to hide things from me and once you have people's trust then you've got influence people do business with. They follow people that they know like and trust in so that vulnerability is really key and too often. We put on this veneer and Polish ourselves up and make ourselves look good for social media in. We're not helping anybody. We're not helping ourselves. We're not doing a service to the people. Were trying to help either. Your becomes a waste of time essentially and like you say I mentioned your newsletter before. But that's what happened when I subscribe to it and I started looking at the material in there. Some of it sounded interesting but then when I started applying it and like you said I would apply and then it would work and then I would try something else and it would work so that would create like you say the trust and now the influence is there because once you have that trust once I started looking into doing this art applying it on link dinner social media it. It helped me understand that that was a litmus test the d. gave me that capacity and also with you like you were talking about that vulnerability that becomes the gateway emotion. That allows us to to do anything else that we need to do. So it's it's so powerful the way you're able to put that into a one two combination like that and in. Brennan Brown talks a lot about this in her books about shame and with her research she talks about how important it is to open up in. This applies to parents especially it applies to teachers. It applies to entrepreneurs leaders of all types. And we're all influencers really. This applies to all of us but Brian has some great stuff on how to open up and how to become vulnerable and how that becomes a strength for US rather than a weakness. And that's it seems counterintuitive but is absolutely correct. We were mentioning earlier. You have to books. But is there a specific book that you would recommend to our listeners? That you think would really be in the vein that we're talking about right now. They're I like to work a lot with entrepreneurs and so one of my favorite books for entrepreneurs is traction by Gina Wick. Because it's just such a helpful nuts to bolts book about how to get stuff done in another one. I love a scaling up by Verne. Harnish which is kind of like the next stage of that once. You Got Your Business Together. This is what you used to really get it moving along but in terms of more on the influence side or content creation. Things like that one that I just finished reading today actually is by CAL Newport. It's called so good they can't ignore you and it's a great book about his. His finding in the book is that you should not follow your passion which is counterintuitive intuitive to a lot of people or at least a lot of advice going out today Says No. This doesn't work for most people because most people don't know what they're passionate is until they try out a lot of things see need to go out and get dirty and try out a lot of things and experiment a lot because you might find a very different passion than what you think. Is Your Passion in life and I think there's something to that that sometimes it takes a lot of experience with something before we start to enjoy it and then we realize you know what I actually love. This parenting can be that way. You have kids and I. It's great and then it's terrible and then it's great and goes back and forth but then you look back fifty years later and you're like yeah. That was awesome. That was great but man in the middle of it sometimes. It's not the messy middle. That's that's how everything is. It seems like in life if if there was a way for our listeners to to learn more about you where would it be the best place to learn more about what you're doing about these systems? You have in place where you're speaking next. Where would be the best place to send them? Josh? Timely DOT com. I love that. Because that's the hub and that's where everything is and they can subscribe to your newsletter there as well correct they can find newsletter their links to me on linked in and everything. I am very active on linked in. That's my social network of choice and so I'm putting out a lot of stuff there and I love it. When people comment we get into discussions. So I'd love to connect people there. Yeah absolutely recommend everybody. Connect to him on Lincoln and also many for that matter Josh before we go to the next break. What is the epic legacy that you want to leave with the work that you're doing right now? It's not so much that I I guess if I were going to call it a legacy. I don't care about being remembered. I don't care about my name so much but what I want to do. Is I want to put out something out. There that people can use that changes their lives in that they pass on to others. And that's why I started focusing on this seven systems of influence is that I believe most of the people in the world are good if I can help. People become more influential than use that influence to make the world a better place. And so perhaps my legacy won't be my name but I hope that there's an impact that I can leave in the world while I I love that answer and you're absolutely correct. We're making an impact whether where where are not so the fact that you are being intentional about trying to create something that's going to be positive and accentuate that. I think that's beautiful. And now it's time to dig deeper. You'll want to stay tuned to come back. After this short break is Josh timely tells how he was able turn his adversity into an epic win as a reminder check out the show notes.

Ted Ex and keynote speaker author mindset coach holder of multiple martial arts black belts and the world's number one expert on the gift of adversity. Marcus Aurelius Anderson. Hello Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the conscious millionaire epic achiever show. I'm your host and mindset coach. Marcus Release Anderson and on today's epic Coachie. Listen I'M GONNA GONNA give you some examples of why I'm coach but I I'd like to thank you all for your support in my first season. Because of you consciously inner epic achiever is now a top top one hundred podcast and multiple categories and. Don't worry season two will be taken things to a higher level in two thousand twenty now onto the lesson as she spoke. Her voice was very shaky but nonetheless very sincere. The woman on the other lines voice had cracked mid-sentence. Then she finally. I said I don't know how you brought the man that I married back to me and I can't thank you enough. Does what my clients wife said to me on the phone and when I first started coaching this client. We began as we do with all clients from the ground up. We discussed the things that he wanted to change to improve his life and business the areas where he felt stuck his biggest goals were and began to create plans based on those areas. But frankly that's just the beginning of our journey in order to achieve these things more. We must begin by improving an area that many considered trivial. They consider it trivial because they don't know how powerful what is. What did I help him with as called mindset and a dictates everything that we do in life my client wanted more financial angel freedom to sell his business though he doubted it and have a better relationship with his wife? He said the reason that they as a couple of been going through the motions so much for the last few years was was because of financial stress. Now Michelangelo once said the greatest danger for most of US lies not insulting our aim too high and fallen short but rather and setting our aim to low and actually achieving our mark Comparis- often mentioned his favourite paraphrase from paypal co founder. Peter Thiel that asks. Why can't you achieve your goals in six months? This is an excellent thought exercises. The causes us to radically change our thinking not only about the problem but also about how we see potential solutions instead of working so hard to climb over or dig under a seemingly insurmountable obstacle a change in mindset can show us how to simply walk around or circumvent the obstacle entirely in the example example of achieving a ten year goal. In six months. It helps us go from a conceptual notion to a specific desired outcome and makes us did take what are definitive fitted goal is and ten years for example but he went to have their house paid off X. amount of dollars saved in the bank their 401k retirement from their current jobs etcetera CETERA. These are things that can be measured which means that they are efforts towards which the goals can be managed this is where mindset comes into play client kept saying that the things that he wanted we're just going to take too long and he basically given up on the options of doing anything other than doing his time. Eilly I asked my client that your kids are grown. And you've moved out of the house. Do you really need that big of a house. Why are you saying here? Is it possible that you'd be happier in a smaller home. That's paid off. He paused deep in thought for some time finally he replied well. I never thought of it like that. I thought we needed to stay in this house. Because that's what everybody else around me seem to be doing. His two children were out of college married and and moved away for new employment. He realized that holding onto his house was more of a burden than a blessing. He was excited and frankly he couldn't wait to talk to his wife about the idea and she was absolutely thrilled about the notion of moving to a smaller home with their current home equity they were able to not only by a smaller home outright. They now had enough money as a cushion for my client to sell his company comfortably. He was able to retire early while still have money in the bank. In fact the house they was within half an hour drive from both of their children's homes one of which is expecting their first child. This newfound freedom is what made in my client's wife say that I brought the man that she had married back home to her. But of course I've done nothing sort. All I've done is help him. Think think differently about his company has gold and what was genuinely important to him in his life. I helped him with something very simple. That most overlook looking at businesses in the same way is no different with my experience in process. "Create a bigger impact and enjoy a bigger life with your host. Marcus Helius. Here's Anderson Ted ex and keynote speaker bestselling author and mindset coach. Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the consciousness. Leaner leaner epic achiever show. I'm your host a mindset coach. Marcus Aurelius Anderson and in this bit coaching. Listen I'm going to teach you. New Year's resolutions are worthless. And what to do instead and before I started I would like to say thank you again to everyone for all your continued support with your help. The conscious minor epic achieve your show is continuing to rise rise in the rankings. And I just want to say I truly appreciate you and I'm honored that you've been trained. The content of the show and these epic coaching lessons with others. Please keep doing doing so now. Onto our lesson. New Year's resolutions garbage they're worthless. They're useless they suck there there. I said it satistics showed that only nine point. Two percent of people actually achieve their resolutions permanently and that over eighty percent fail AOL by February. Yet if you ask anyone that you know they will have some sort of resolution concocted by New Year's Eve these these facts. Tell us that while everybody has something that they would like to change or improve in their life or business very few of them ever do so long term. Now hear me out. I'm not saying. Try to shame anybody or make anybody feel guilty but until we look at this subject honestly and objectively. We can't hope to be pragmatic when it comes to solving it. We must be willing to look at our past behavior and failures if we have any hopes of overcoming them indeed and and this way adversity is a gift. Because it shines a light on our inadequacies and becomes our catalyst for change if we are willing to do the work. The definition of Insanity Albert Einstein famously said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting eighteen different results this year with this information and this coaching listen. You can break the cycle while there are literally hundreds the thousands of reasons. Actually those are excuses that keep people from keeping their resolutions. It comes down to a few fundamental flaws. And if you haven't gone back and listen to my podcast lesson on rational is by all means go back and do so it will help you identify the rationalizing excuses. You you have in your business and your life right now. Here are the three fundamental flaws that I see one lack of specificity and goals talk to lack of urgency in achieving those goals and number three lack of accountability in creating that urgency to attain those goals. And while I'm actually being very blunt in this lesson understand that I'm not trying to sound overly negative. I'm simply trying to cut to the trays. And get to the meat of this lesson and that starts by telling it like it is I love helping people in companies improve in multiple capacities and I absolutely hate seeing people's and good intentions backfire and lead to discouragement so why is trying to change with a half-hearted commitment and intent so dangerous dangerous. I'll explain to you why you see. Eventually there will come a time when somebody will be discouraged from trying for the last last time and I do not want that to be you this epic coachee lesson for anyone who wants to create a permanent positive change wjr following a simple tried and true methods that I've used successfully with countless other clients for years the very first step Number one I want you to write these three things down number one. A goal is only as Tena Bible as it is specific so let's take a classic New Year's resolution and say oh I want to lose weight and get in shape. That sounds fantastic fantastically vague. If he'd you'd really want to achieve a goal you must plot out exactly what you went to achieve with a metric. That is measurable. If you say I want to lose ten pounds of body fat or I want to increase my business. By thirty percent you not have a very specific metric that can be tracked and now enforced the second step without without a deadline. Time means nothing if you have a resolution do you want to achieve by the end of the year. That's likely too long of a time line. Why is that too long? You ask. It's too much time. And there is no real sense of urgency if yourself an entire year mentally a year seems like a long time away which encourages us to procrastinate and say things like okay seriously. Tomorrow I'm really going to get started. And I'm going to actually start executing on x y Rienzi and I mean at this time taking the previous example of wanting to lose ten pounds or increase your cells by thirty percent when we add in the time component it. It makes the goal much more real by having a goal of doing these things in three months. It creates urgency to reach the desired outcome. And now you can reverse engineer and measure where you should be by month one by month to announce by the third month inversely if you procrastinate nate or multiple halfhearted attempts starting January first this leads to the all too common cycle of becoming overwhelmed and frustrated. This follows the same pattern ultimately given up completely by February. Don't be a statistic by thinking these small one month deadlines as sprints. It keeps you mission. Driven and laser focused the entire time employing. This kind of urgency is what makes your goals become reality. The third step simplicity is key. We all have multiple things that we want to change in our lives. This is human nature when thinking of New Year's resolutions. It's easy to come up with a long laundry list of things need to be improved and therein lies the RUB. The things that need to be changed should not merely resolutions. They should be priorities. And as I've always said if you make everything a priority then nothing is a priority. When I'm coaching client? We never focus on more than three specific priorities at a time and while that may not sound like. It's very much enough to be effective. If we employ the eighty twenty principle to make the three priorities that we choose create tremendous overlapping impact and other areas of their life and businesses. Well take this. Compounding effect is incredibly efficient. Allow us to get the results in three months that they thought would take at least a year to attain in all. Also keep it simple if you want to succeed if these steps seems simple. That's because they are the reality is they need to be very as simple. Because complexity is the enemy of execution and in the heat of battle you will fall apart. If you don't have simplicity on your side stay mission driven laser focused on your priorities. And you'll be amazed at what you can achieve in one third of the time this upcoming year.

I love when those things are powerful aligned in harmony and there will be much more about the superhuman movement and moving coming out soon in future episodes the night lesson that I learned. Is that the power of podcasting Israel and it is literally changing the world bestselling author of the Book Niche Down. And how that if you have a voice and that if you are authentically expressing a consistently you have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the world and the ten thing that I learned the final lesson that I learned from all of my incredible episodes this year. was that all these epic achievers. So they're adversity. As a gift and turned it into an epic win so for example Zachary Babcock told his story of being an ex convict and how the becoming an entrepreneurial superstar was in his grasp once he was able to take his underdog mentality and status and turn it into an advantage against its competition. My good friend. I'm an artist syndicate member. Jay Nixon. Explain how the death and tragedies the he was surrounded by at a young age eventually was the catalyst that led him to become the trainer and coach city today and he has helped thousands of people take your life back and step into their power. Janine shepherd powerful story of her near death experience from being hit by a truck truck and paralyzed from the neck down has resulted in talk that has been seen by millions and she shares on our podcast interview how she was able to become defiant in the face. How he wrote these two incredible books and then he was diagnosed with cancer yet? He tells our listeners how he's level this adversity into a powerful catalyst to beat it. Now I say Ama Ted ex talk and in my book the gifted adversity that adversity is indeed a gift and every single guest that I've had on my show has been through a tremendous amount of hardship and adversity in one way or another and yet none of them would have had it any other way because they know that if they hadn't gone through those hardships that they would never have the urgency and life experience that they need to create the change of their credit in the world. Today they are all truly epic achievers because they have turned their greatest diversities. Ladies into an epic win thus into the lesson now for those of you the one access to my fifty thousand Awesome Dollar Epoch achiever program for free. Let me explain something to you to produce this. And that's why I do what I do now. This year for me has flown by and honestly. I can't believe this is my fiftieth episode. Already there are so many things that I've learned from my first lesson podcasting most of which I never saw coming. And that's why this epic coaching lessons going to cover the top ten things that I've learned from my first fifty episodes and I want to get to you the listener. The first thing that I learned and this is these are all things that I've learned from all of these guests on my first of the episodes. The ferry thing that I learned lesson number one is that hard work is is not enough. In fact it's the bare minimum now during my interview with Artie Syndicate member. CEO of the Three Sixty Five driven coaching embezzling the author of the book. side-hustle millionaire my good friend Tony. Wally told of how when he first started working. He figured out quickly that there were not enough hours in the day to do what he had and do to be successful. During my conversation with Steve Simms the Modern Day wizard of Oz bestselling author of the book. Blue fishing the art of making things toppin. Steve told of how he learned as well as a bricklayer. That hard work could only take you so far. Which is why he began mastering the art of building a network? He now has friends like Elton John. Richard Branson and an Elon. Musk in his multibillion dollar network both he and Tony knew the hard work. Work wasn't enough in fact it was the bare minimum. So what else does it take to be successful. Well this leads us to our second. Listen the second lesson that I learned is for long term. Success Systems and protocols are necessity now my good friend and mentor the Creator of the conscious millionaire network himself who I am honored to be a show host with. JV Chrome the third talks about this in many different areas. He talks about it in his bestselling book conscious millionaire He is highly sought after coaching consultant. JV made his first million by the age of twenty five and he did it by creating systems and protocols that brought order to the chaos of business today speaker keynote speaker and author of the groundbreaking book you already have the no carry remarable actually creates a former that. She's talked to thousands on how to systematically network effectively and authentically again. She talks about that during our interview. Here on the show. Having formula and protocols in place are an absolute necessity not only for Scaling Your Business but for having a routine and system to keep you on track in your own personal development and also whenever you're creating your day to day architecture during our interview Josh timely tells how this was able to give him urgency and helped him from having to work he was working one hundred hours a week and getting nowhere but by having these systems in place in creating urgency he was able to cut down to only forty hours a week while dig himself out of a mountain of debt and the process. The third thing I learned from our guests during the season was that if you are attempting something that is truly extraordinary. You will fail multiple times along the way during my interview with my good friend member of the Forbes Coach Council today Speaker Keynote Speaker and bestselling author Mag Ghanaian tells his struggles of Corporate America. He talked about the brutal journey of starting his own business and how that for him. Living with a courageous heart was the only way to keep him. I'm going so that he wouldn't give up in those hard times when I interviewed serial entrepreneur bestselling author of five percent. More and blueprint print business. Michael Alden Michael told us about the advice that he understood quickly in his entrepreneurial journey the advice was this the entrepreneurial journey never gets easier this shift in his mindset actually made things easier because now he couldn't wait to get to the next part art. He knew that this was just par for the course he knew that he wasn't the only person struggling and whenever he acknowledged that and we'll talk to other entrepreneurs and they would echo those. Oh sentiments to him. He realized that he was on the right track. When internationally renowned keynote Speaker Hall of Fame Speaking Member Embezzling authored the Book Doc Activate Your Brain Scott Halford and I dove into the subject? We talked about going from failure to failure without losing belief and focus on ourselves and in our purpose and he you mentioned that chasing money is the best way to never make any money and that is truly a powerful thing to remember. Bob showed is called the transformational channel grandmaster and for good reason because he's not only coach others to reinvent themselves he's gone through multiple evolutions in his life and businesses. Well entry during my interview on conscious millionaire epic achiever Shane Spears. He echoed the same sentiments and he explains that there are five steps that every business must go through and evolve if they want to actually get to the place where his success and freedom financially. The fourth thing that I learned from my guests from these fifty episodes is that meditation tation. Mindfulness and self care must be employed to keep long-term momentum and avoid earn. Ah In my special on-location interview from podcastone. Nineteen with incredible Justin Shank. He explained how the top performers the he interviewed knew that they had to take care of themselves first and foremost in order to be able to help others to the best of their capacity. Bruce Langford is an expert in mindfulness and he gave multiple examples of how to use this business as well as personal development in our enlightening interview and my incredible interview. With Dr Richard Schuster explains the size of altruism and how he not only uses it to help others and business but it's also become his ethos and a way of life. The fifth thing that I learned is that in order to improve you must learn to be brutally honest with yourself and other words you must is be brutally honest about where you are right now you must be brutally honest with the shortcomings that you have and be willing to stare at them nakedly to improve and the you. You must be willing to do the work to embrace the discomfort in order to get to that next level fitness trainer and social media. Phenom Natalie Jill Explain Elaine how she had to hit rock bottom emotionally financially and physically during our conversation and how she goes into detail a when she was able to learn to cut the fat from her life and from her business and when she says trim the fat fat is an acronym. Fat Emperor her. She says the fast stands for false assumed truths in other words. She teaches us in this interview. How to get out of our own way and what to do to move forward to the best of our capacity my good friend Ramahatra shared how he was beaten up to the point that he literally could not even recognize? I says own face in the mirror and that that was the gift of adversity. The he needed it was the brutal reality check. He needed to begin to achieve financial independence with urgency and to take us life back once and for all so that he would never have to be in a situation where he had to let money control his life doc the manifestation gangster herself Sarasin trela author of two of the most popular books on manifestation hustle believe receive and her new book future boards told told of how she learned about her husband cheating on her. And how that disaster and also having no way racer kids at the time but yet still haven't to separate until Oh him out was the rock bottom that she needed to acknowledge. In order to begin her journey to her current entrepreneurial success the six lesson that I learned from our guests season was the leadership is not simply telling people what to do in my conversation with navy seal and temporary alumni. Nick Norris Nick. Norris is a navy seal and he explained how the vulnerability was his key to being successful as a leader in the seal. Team's Dov off. Baron is the gold standard by which leadership measure and explained in our interview that a leader must be willing to admit that they were wrong. Apologize at they want. You truly lead ethically thickly and for the long term my good friend Mike the Continent I discussed the need to have your employees truly believed in your leadership ability and in his new book called Believer Ship. He discusses that Berry thing at length and all of these areas of leadership intersect perfectly with my epic coaching coaching lesson. On how pragmatic empathy is missing component in leadership. Today the seven lesson that I learned from everyone this season was that your diet and physical fitness is a must be a high performer. Bodybuilding and entrepreneur. Extraordinary the Kito Savage Robert O.. Rien Sykes discusses the advantages of the Ketogenic Diet which could help reduce inflammation brain fog and fatigue and Morbid obesity and sedentary individuals to PhD himself of previously heavy. Dude Adam. Shadley explains how important physical exercises to maintain health and pre performance and why using caffeine to compensate for sleep. Loss is as a losing battle. The thing that I learned is that the highest level athletes in the world know that mindset is the key the victory it is the thing that separates those that win and those that are in second place four time Olympian and and world renowned keynote speaker Ruben Gonzalez gave us the secrets to his Olympian Mindset. In our incredible interview. UFC fighter domestic violence activists and Speaker Jaime Coleen shared how the power of forgiveness gave her the strength to defeat herself down in the octagon and also empower others in their own lives Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. "Epic way make bigger money create a bigger impact and enjoy a bigger life with your host. Marcus Really Anderson Anderson Ted ex and keynote speaker bestselling author and mindset coach. Hello everyone and welcome back to another incredible episode of the consciously your epic achiever show today. I haven't epic coaching lesson for you called stop looking for a way out for just a moment. I want you to imagine that I dropped you off on a deserted sorted island with a gallon of water and told you that I'd be back in twenty four hours. What would you do? How would you think how would you act while you'd probably be restless for the night and maybe have some discomfort from the lack of food? You probably survive survive because you knew that all you had to do was make through the next twenty four hours and that if you were able to do you that you'd be rescued you would have a finish line that was within your grasp you would understand that. That was your way out now. I want you to consider this. What if I did the same thing would if I dropped you off on a deserted island with a gallon of water? But this time I told you that you are on your own. There wasn't going to be somebody to come and get you in twenty four hours. What if I told you that you had figured out on your own? Now now what would you do. How would that knowledge effect your thoughts and your actions now? I want you to notice the difference in these two mentalities the first is the notion of simply hanging on and waiting to be rescued. The other is much more of a desperate mindset knowing that no one was coming to save you and that you didn't have the luxury of simply being rescued and that you had better start taking action now. If you had any hopes of survival many people had the first mentality that I mentioned in their day to day lives and their relationships and frankly even their businesses they have a mindset of simply we doing just enough to survive just enough to get by until they're rescued and that for them. Maybe the rescue of the weekend. Where the rescue of living from paycheck paycheck to paycheck? That is alive of quiet desperation and there is no rescue inside those people. Now some will push themselves. They'll push themselves to a point where they they actually meet resistance. And when I say resistance I mean it with the capital. Are Stephen. Preston writes about it in his incredible books. The war of are going pro and do the work resistance is a mystical concept. Created by wrestled. The illustrates the universal force. The he claims acts against human intelligence excellence potential and creativity. I write about adversity much in the same way. That press field writes about resistance and for many once. They felt resistance what they felt re any sort of adversity was. What's the effect hardship? They stopped trying as if that is the indicated that they've gone far enough now that they can just stop. They are essentially seeking permission to quit and they push themselves just far enough to be rescued by this excuse to give up. This in of itself is an act of intellectual cowardice Boorda's and while it may sound harsh. It's a lesson that I know all too well because I lived it for many years I would push myself to a certain degree often going further than those around me and because I was basing my actions on the efforts of others expenditures I would stop after they gave up as well as if I won some sort of hollow victory now I now recognize in doing so. I never even scratched the surface of my true potential. That'll change the day that I suffer my spinal injury that left me paralyzed from the neck down in my book the gift of Adversity and in my Ted talk by the same name. I talked about this in detail. And how it turn my world upside down literally changed my life forever. But for the sake of brevity if you listen to nothing else that I say here in this lesson here.
