Where Are the Arrests of the Portland Rioters Who Burned Courthouses?
"Giving up any of the cookies in the cookie jar. You may think, oh, I get out of the car with a hat, glasses, a mask and a hood on. No one's ever going to recognize me. Well, notice what you just said. Well, I got out of the car. You think a license plate camera didn't pick you up getting out of the car. Well, how would I know where I got out of the car? Because, folks, there's basically ring cameras and doorbells everywhere. One of my best friends, this is what he did for a living with the NYPD. There's not a section of New York City Manhattan in and probably Queens and Brooklyn, too. Probably not so much so in Staten Island. there's But not a section of that city where between ring doorbells, NYPD cameras and business security cameras, you're not covered, basically 100 % of the time. And even if you're not, it doesn't matter. Let's say you show up at a left -wing riot up on Capitol Hill to protest Kavanaugh. How'd you get there? Oh, I parked my car six miles away. They can backtrack and find you from the building. Capitol They can find cameras, even if there's a couple blocks missing. There's only a few blocks you could have come from into the feeder block. Is this making sense? I don't mean to talk over anyone's head. You're all smart. You probably figured it out. There is no way they won't find you. Oh, no, no, he didn't know. No, I got out of an Uber. Yeah, they'll see you get out of an Uber, and then they'll trace the Uber at a time and see who had the Uber account. Just they like traced the January 6th bomber back to the train station in Virginia. Yet it's strange, right? Anyone who was anywhere near January 6th, or even not, Enrique Terrio wasn't even in D .C. What do you mean? No, he wasn't even in D .C. They all find themselves in a prison. You don't find any of this strange. They find themselves in a prison. Yet the people who tried to burn down the courthouse in Portland, and the people who stormed Capitol Hill in protest of Kavanaugh slamming on the doors like violent lunatics, that none of them have been arrested and appeared on an FBI wanted sheet. Why

"The summer, Cougar fans learned most of the powerhouses of the Pac -12 had left for other pastures. Kirk Schulz said at the time he was surprised and somewhat blindsided by the mass exodus. After all, he thought they were working on their own new TV deal. Recently, he sat down with local host and WSU Regent Enrique Cerna to talk about the future of the school's sports program. Yeah, things are fluid, but I think the future for what WSU or where we could be is starting to come into a little sharper focus. And I think anybody who's read a lot out, all the columns, I don't know about you, Enrique, I but wind up, you know, anything that comes up on the athletic or across the nation that, you certainly know, involves WSU or the PAC 12. I've been reading pretty regularly over the last several weeks and, you know, I think we've really got just a couple, we have three options that we're as pursuing Washington State University. And I think our fans, supporters and people, none of these will be very surprising. You know, one certainly would be to seek membership in the Mountain West Conference. One would be to seek membership in the American Athletic Conference. And then the third option would to be sort of reconstitute or rebuild the PAC, say PAC X. Right now there's there's four members left, but, you know, that could change literally within hours. And so I think each of those are pursuing in a parallel pathway and we want to evaluate what's going to be best for WSU, what's going to be best for student athletes, what's going to be a good academic and athletic fit. And I think one thing I want to remind everybody is also, you know, we want to be in a position where we control our own destiny as an institution and are not dependent on anybody else. And we be want to in a conference in a place where we can win conference championships. And look, put I my heart and soul into the Pac -12 ever since I've been here as president, and I'm dismayed and upset and depressed about, you know, where that has gone. But at the same time, of I kind can't sit here and go, well, let's just wait around and hope a lightning bolt strikes. We got to plan about aggressively what's the right future for Washington State University. You have talked with our student athletes, what have you heard? Yeah, our student athletes, well, it is interesting that you even mentioned it, right? because all these presidents and chancellors were saying things like, we've decided to do this because this is going to be better for our student athletes. And if people watch on social media, some of the schools that are going different places, some of the student athletes have maybe not necessarily agreed with those decisions and said, you know, nobody ever talked to me about it or talked to us about it. And I just was determined that as we look forward on what we want to do, we need to make sure that we're actually in dialogue with student athletes and not a dialogue or asking them to say, here's well, the three constraints. We just said it's a blank sheet of paper. What is it that's important to you? And we really really heard a couple of things. So one was they said power five or bust. You know, we want compete to at an elite level and we want to continue to make sure that WSU is competing at an elite level. And that came through three different meetings loud and clear. The second thing was, interestingly, how are we going to be communicated with around this? don't We sort of want to read on social media what WSU is going to be doing. You know, we want to be an important part of the nation and we want to know that we are heard. Attorneys for Oath Keepers founder react to 18-year sentence
"Oath keepers founder Stewart Rhodes has become the 1st January 6th defendant convicted of seditious conspiracy to receive his punishment. A federal judge has sentenced roads to 18 years in prison, the longest sentence given in any of the hundreds of capital riot cases. Prosecutors said roads led a week's long plot to keep Donald Trump in power, which in turn led to the oath keepers attacking the capitol. They argued for a 25 year sentence, saying roads remains a threat to democracy. Roads told the judge, he's a political prisoner whose only crime is opposing those who are destroying the country. The sentence will set the standard as more extremist group members receive their own punishments, former Proud Boys, chief Enrique tarrio and other leaders will be sentenced in months to come. The Truth About Sedition Charges for Proud Boys
"So I was asking you, how are these sentences a justified for Proud Boys oath keepers? Sedition, by the way, when was sedition used since the Civil War was it ever used? The last time the government tried to charge Americans with seditious conspiracy was in 2010 in a case the Hu to read tribe in Michigan. And the federal judge up there laughed it out of court, what's interesting in this 183 page sentencing memo Dennis is that there's so little case law. They're so to compare sentences with to make sure that the sentences are comparable. They actually had to mention terrorists involved in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed four people, was tied directly to foreign terrorist cells. That was one of their first comparisons. This is who they're comparing a man like Thomas all while too. Or Kelly megs or they will compare Joe Biggs. And Enrique tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys, who is convicted of seditious conspiracy who? Uh oh, we're experiencing technical problems. It's hard to believe I am witnessing what I never entertained as a possibility in the United States.

I wanted to get you on on Friday. We text about it, but you had other things you had to get done, which for you, we will make the exception. I want to have you on today. Now, the reason I think it's important is not just because you're the great Julie Kelly, I think it's important because you made a prediction based on this case, what would happen to president Trump moving forward? It was a bombshell. I think we titled the podcast based on your prediction that day. I mean, it was quite an alarming thing. So let's just one step back before I'm just teasing that. What happened on Thursday and why is this case important and where were the controversies at? So the bombshell and I know people had a lot of difficulty and they have had difficulty Andrew with my predicting and warning them for months that this Department of Justice and now special counsel Jack Smith. I used quotations, air quotations for him. Will bring forward probably well, it will be a multi count criminal indictment against Donald Trump at some point this year. What happened Thursday was the conviction of four of 5 members of the Proud Boys, including their leader Enrique tarrio. On charges of seditious conspiracy. This is a post Civil War statue, Andrew, that had to apply to confederate soldiers or members of the confederacy who still wanted to overthrow the government of the United States.

Proud Boys' Tarrio guilty of Jan. 6 seditious conspiracy
"The leader of the Proud Boys Enrique tarrio and three other members of the far right extremist group were convicted of seditious conspiracy for their roles in the capitol riot. Seditious conspiracy is a difficult charge to prove. Specifically, conspiring to oppose by force the lawful transfer of presidential power. Tarrio wasn't in Washington on the day of the riot, but prosecutors say he directed the Proud Boys attack. These convictions will likely embolden attorney general Merrick Garland and the Justice Department moving forward. After three trials, we have secured the convictions of leaders of both the Proud Boys and the oath keepers for seditious conspiracy. The seditious conspiracy charge carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years in court, a lawyer for tarrio tried to push the blame onto Donald Trump arguing the former president incited the pro Trump mobs attack when he urged the crowd near The White House to fight like hell. Jury to deliberate in major Jan. 6 case against Proud Boys

They're not in court because of what they said, but because of what they did, defense lawyer naive Hassan noted Enrique tarrio wasn't in Washington on the day of the riot. He argued Donald Trump's words in his anger provided the motivation for the rioters. "Not a big reading the emails in a video game sort of person. I don't like to stop to reach it. I prefer voice recordings and that sort of thing. I am stopping to read everything going on because in metroid prime, I find it all so fascinating. I'm enjoying reading all of the notes from what went down with the chozo and then also what's going on with the space pirates and seeing the space pirates kind of react. Oh, shit. She's here. You got to deal with this shit. That shit is so cool. And then he was just so smartly designed. Like here's the thing. I'm so happy for you. Again, metroidvania is from here so hit and miss in terms of like, I get what a metro video is. I feel like to some extent once you've played one metric video, you kind of played a lot of them. I am so enthralled with the abilities that they give you in the ways in which the speed ability when you go into your ball mode, for example, where you can use that to then get up of the half pipe structures. Never notice the half 5 structures until that became a thing and all that. And I was like dude. How smart is I would not have guessed that that would have been a mechanic. In there are plenty of moments like that. I think they parse that stuff out super well. They give you different abilities at a decent pace. And at first I was, I wasn't feeling the controls all the way, like switching between weapons, switching between visor modes. A lot of those cumbersome. I'm at the point now where it is second nature. Well, I'm just going back and forth some weapons going back. And I'm understanding that I just need to scan everything. As long as you scan everything, you'll be fine. You'll figure out what puzzle or what thing you need to solve. I've just been enjoying it so much. And also, there are parts of that game that are hard as fuck. Like, there's a section, I believe, in the phase on minds that is that goes for a while without you finding a save point. And I died baby three or four times, and I was like, all right, let's fucking walk in. Let's do this. And it came down to the wire of it was a section where I had to turn into a ball and navigate this electricity maze and not get hit and I had like two hits on me before I was getting knocked out and I knew for a fact that all I needed to do was get through this maze before I can get before I hit the next save point. And I was sweating to him. I was sweating, but it was fantastic and I made it through. That's that old school game design where getting to a save point is the most important thing it's life and death, man. It reminds me of back in the day when you're playing Game Boy and you know the battery's going out. You see the game starting to fade just a little bit. You're like, oh. And you know like the game doesn't give a fuck about your feelings either. The games aren't really designed for auto saving and all this stuff to really account for when you lose and don't want to lose that much progress. And so I'm like at any point I'm like, dude, I might lose 20 minutes of progress and it's going to be heartbreaking. So bless, I'm so, so damn excited for you that you're experiencing this. It sounds like you're pretty damn far. Yeah, I imagine you're planning to beat this game. Yeah. I think you might need to do it in the next three days. Why so? Because metroid fusion is coming out. And now here's the thing. I'm going to sell you on fusion. All right. You can beat that game in 5 hours. Okay, I like you in that one. 5 hour game, it is such a different era of video game. But I think it'd be really cool for you to play metroid prime and then fusion back to back because those games came out in the same day originally. And we played them together. Like I remember playing through both games at the same time. And you can actually link them. You can unlock the fusion suit in prime if you use the GBA transfer cable thing to the GameCube. But this game is incredible. It's a little bit more linear and action based than some of the other metroid games. And you're definitely not going to get lost in this one. I'm fine for that. A very just one to one experience. And it is, it's very fucking awesome, man. Fusion is a very, not the best metroid game, but a very, very special one that I think is a lot of people's, if not favorite, it's in the conversation. Hell yeah. I think I've reached the point when I'm sure this isn't a shock, but I have metroid metroid prime is probably the best metroidvania I've ever played. I think I can say that confidently at this point. Yeah, no, I'm down to try out fusion. If I'm getting more of that goodness out of that, I know it's different, but I did like metroid dread as well, so. Yeah, I think in your life fusion a lot. And the motion is a kind of a bombshell, because here's what here's what the defense is saying. The defense is saying, first of all, that this document was not composed by tarrio. It was sent to him on telegram, the social media platform by his girlfriend. Or a girl that he knew, a woman named Erica Flores, but guess who composed the document. Somebody associated with the U.S. government. In other words, the plot did not come from the Proud Boys. It came from a plant or agent or somebody with deep government connections.

"Back and stand by. You may remember that line from former president Donald Trump during the presidential debates in 2020. Well, it's now part of the prosecution's sedition case against Proud Boys leader Enrique tarrio and four other members of the far right group accused of leading the attack on the capitol on January 6th. Prosecutors say the Proud Boys were part of every critical breach on the day of the attack, from knocking down the first street barricades to smashing a window with a stolen police shield, letting the rioters into the building. And they're giving the jury plenty of visuals of the attack. Showing videos shot by documentary filmmaker Nick quest Ed, who also testified at the January 6th committee hearings. For anyone that really didn't think that there was extreme violence in that day, I filmed it, I saw it. I was subject to it. The violence was real and it was exceptionally powerful. Defense attorneys argue that the defendants are being made scapegoats and that evidence will show there was no plan by them to stop the transfer of power. Joining me is former federal prosecutor Jimmy garu, a professor at Notre-Dame law school. Jimmy tell us about the Proud Boys who are they. The Proud Boys were formed in 2016 by vice media cofounder Gavin mcinnes, who's a Canadian. The group is described as the far right neo fascist group that engages in political violence. While the actual membership number of members of the group is unknown, it's believed to be in the thousands and the group has, as many as 44 active chapters across the country. And it has a history of engaging in political violence. The first kind of prominent appearance of the Proud Boys on the national stage was the summer of 2017 during the unite the right rally in charlottes, Virginia. One of the organizers of the event was a member of the Proud Boys. And then in June 2018, the Proud Boys attended the freedom and courage rally in Portland, Oregon, where they engaged in violent clashes with members of the Black Lives Matter group in protesters. And then of course they were involved in the January 6th attack on the U.S. capitol building. The attorney foreign Enrique tarrio said they're basically a drinking club. The Proud Boys aren't a sexist racist homophobic organization. Well, I think there's at least two countries who would beg to differ and one of those is Canada and the other is a New Zealand and the governments of both of those countries have designated the Proud Boys as a terrorist organization. And that designation carries substantial financial and economic consequences in the police can seize the property of the Proud Boys in their country and banks can seize their assets and they can be denied entry into the country. And then additionally, the southern poverty law center has designated them as a hate group. So they have a reputation well beyond simply being a good old boys club. The most serious charge of course is seditious conspiracy, which carries a 20 year sentence. What does the prosecution have to prove there? A couple of points in a one that's been estimated that as many as 100 members of the Proud Boys were in Washington D.C. on January 6th and participated either in planning, directing or executing the attack on the U.S. capitol. So it's the agreement. It's the planning. It's a conspiracy. And the conspiracy charge does not require that each member of the conspiracy himself participated in acts of violence. It's enough if a member of the conspiracy, any member of the conspiracy, participated in acts of violence. Again, all the members of conspiracy agreed and they agreed to delay to prevent the counting of the electoral votes and they did that with the use of force or violence. And so again, any member of the conspiracy could have participated in the assault on the capital using force, but it's not necessary that every member of the conspiracy participated in by using force in the attack on the capital. I think it's probably worth highlighting that one of the defendants is Dominic pezoa and we've seen literally multiple pictures of him using the stolen police ride shield and using it to break a window into the capital and apparently that was the first entry points where the rioters and entered into the capitol building following the lead. Federal prosecutors just won a conviction of four of the oath keepers on seditious conspiracy charges on Monday. Is the prosecution's plan here sort of similar? And it seems to me that the prosecution is following the same kind of blueprint of prosecution that they followed in the old keepers trial. And so what we're going to see in terms of evidence being presented to the jury is going to be statements made by the various 5 members of the Proud Boys that are being prosecuted, statements that they made in text messages and other social media messages that demonstrated their intent to attack the capitol building to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. So they're going to be prosecuted based on their own words and that was the case with the oath keepers. And then there's also some members of the Proud Boys previously convicted. They've entered a guilty plea. They agreed to cooperate with the government and they're going to testify at trial against the members of the Proud Boys. And we also saw that in the oath keepers prosecution. So that's going to be the critical evidence. It's going to be their own words, used against them. It's going to be members of the Proud Boys that were on the inside that are going to testify as to what these 5 defendants intended and what they did with respect to the seditious conspiracy. And then lastly, it's going to be photos of them at the scene, breaking into the building, knocking down police barriers, perhaps even assaulting police officers. So I think that's going to be the crux of the prosecution's case. Why do you think the judge allowed the prosecution to play that clip of former president Trump saying Proud Boys stand back and stand by? Well, it goes to the intent, you know? What was the intent and the purpose of the conspiracy? And one could argue that this statement and this apparent relationship or connection between former president Trump and the Proud Boys demonstrates that the Proud Boys were acting on behalf of president Trump and that they were again seeking to keep them in power. And seeking to prevent the peaceful transfer of power to president elect Biden. And again, that goes to the heart and the purpose and the intent of the conspiracy. So I think this is evidence of that intent and that relationship between former president Trump and the Proud Boys. Some of the defense attorneys, including the attorney for tarrio, are trying to blame Trump, saying Trump unleashed the mob that breached the capitol. You know, I don't know that it's much of a defense, and I don't think that the defense statements are inconsistent with the prosecution's theory. So it could very well be that former president Trump and lease this violent mob to attack the capitol, but it could equally be the case that in doing so, the members of the Proud Boys participated in that assault and helped organize and plan that assault, which is the basis of the seditious conspiracy charge. Before the riot, the FBI had placed informants in the Proud Boys, and now some of those informants are being called as witnesses by the defense who say they were privy to the proud boy chats and even marched alongside them

"Is this correlated to now? Was it a frog or was it a rat? The frog. Okay. But it looked like a rat. It looked like a mouse. As a frog's frog. What is the frog have to do with him swallowing nails? Wait, I don't know how any of that happened. I actually know how he does it. He drinks basically magicians learn this thing where you can basically like control part of your gag reflex and so he'll drink a ton of water with the frog earlier and just have it in there nails. The nails are actual real nails. And then he only put one nail up here in one nail up here and then when he blew him out, they came out. That's how he did the truth. That's dangerous. I'm so stupid. I'm like, how did he get those there? Yeah, but still that's still really dangerous to just have nails just chilling right here. It's just a real nail. You've never been a little boy. That's basically like little boy one O one. Push it in your nose, see if it comes out. I don't care. Even if you can explain them, they're still very dangerous to me. But he still does a lot. He does like a lot of physical. Like, oh my God. How did he have a frog in his throat? You know how much you have to practice that before you get it right? The frog I don't think frogs have. Has he swallowed? You would think at this point he'd have found a princess. Yeah. Yeah, I like that was cute. But how does the frog stay there? Either way, if you have not seen his specials, you have to go watch them. They're so good. Did you see it at Madison Square Garden? I have a McGraw email now that you should see Jamie on. I got you. He's a Stuart's not gonna get the same, but yeah, I'm trying to go get a wetzel's pretzel with you next time. Anything you need. Wait, speaking of cards, Morgan has now custom McGraw cards. Like gift cards. Not gift cards. Well, whatever. They are stationary because I'm a grown ass woman. Did you get something in the mail? Is that why you're so excited about it? No, I buy through it away, but I'm just saying it was really nice at the time. I was blown away. I was like, that's the point. Did you sit in flowers for your hospital? No, I sent him a gift, a nice gift. Keep my heart? I kept the gift. What did she get you? An array of. For his surgery? Hey Andy, nudie max. My mother in law helped. It was really nudie max? Coloring books. Was an idea, but it was a good idea. That's actually very funny. It was very cute. Did you color any of them in? Just the boobs. I'm saving them for my nephew. He's 11. So he's about the right age. Those pages are probably already sticky. Yeah, there was. And a truck overturned on a freeway in Oklahoma, which normally we wouldn't talk about, but this one spilled, oh, okay. And dildos in lube all over the road. So everyone is fine, but people are debating if the traffic reporter dodged the most important question. A lot of stuff to clean up. So this turnpike spur and Mustang on ramp here at I 40 will probably be closed for quite some time. Jim Gary line for bob mills got his 9 back to you. Jim, can you tell what he's carrying there? What's all over the road? All right, that's a mess for sure. That's the latest I 40 east bound. Well, it looks like some no, the resuming in. Not really, maybe you can feel. I can't tell, you know, the good thing involved in this too is the driver's not injured. Good. There's no injuries, but there's a lot of stuff laying on the road whatever it is. It's going to take a while to clean up. By the way, those anchors absolutely new. What it was. Could you tell what it was? They knew. And they were setting him up for sure. I feel like we would have just said lube and dildos. Yeah, but there are local news. I get canceled. There's a reason we're getting canceled. I'm glad everybody's okay, but it is kind of ironic that dildos and Louvre are all on freeway. Yeah. And I mean, you can't like, I mean, they've got to give this away now, right? No, 'cause they made the whole freeway slippery. We're a whole new meaning that slippery wouldn't wet. Slippery went away. God, still got it. Using in there. We have to take another break but coming up a pregnant woman is pissed her mother in law is sending her partner on vacation after their baby is born. Plus, if a man wears his sexy underwear to work, is he cheating? Love is dead is next. All right. Boys cheating girlfriends and messed up marriages. This could only mean one thing. It's time for love. Did you hurt a man to kiss at his girlfriend for repeatedly doing weird his food? He made a cake and divided it into pieces and she took a bite out of every slice. So he put a lock on the fridge. But that didn't stop her. She broke the lock and ate chunks out of his sandwiches. He was so mad he kicked her out. It's like a war or something. Yeah, war of the roses. Yeah. Have you seen that movie? Fabulous. Have you? Nope. Never even heard of it. I do think it's funny because I ate a bite out of every sandwich though. Like I like the pettiness of that. Like she didn't just eat one sandwich. When it happens to someone else. Yeah, but also don't you just share food when you're in a relationship or is that old school? No, you share food, but I think it's like, I can understand like him thinking, maybe he was at work all day and he's like, oh man, when I get home, I'm going to have to have you ever had that. I'm going to get home and have this thing and then somebody's eating it and they leave like one little piece and really ready to flip over. Like you with the cake classic. I'm kidding. I'm just kidding. One thing we used to do with my family growing up, my mom did it first and it was the funniest thing I've ever seen. We were going through a drive-through and my brother was in the back not paying attention. He ordered his food. We all got it. My mom took a massive bite out of his sandwich before he saw cover the back. And he's a little boy. He goes, I think someone took a bite out of mine. And we look, and there's clear teeth marks. Like it is nothing but a bite. We go, that's not a bite. That's the way the sandwich is shaped, probably just eat it, you'll be fine. He ate everything around it. But he was like, gaslight them young is what I said. I say. And a pregnant woman is not is not here for her mother in law's gestures. My reading today, that's because her boyfriend's mom bought him an all expense paid trip to Italy when the baby is due. She's upset because she's going to need help with the baby, but his mom doesn't see what the issue is. Like, I don't even have the patience for this type of stuff. It's I don't like I'm not even, I can't even debate this. It's just so out of line. It's absolute, but how nice what a vacation be? Oh my God. During that time too, you need them. Yeah, think about, I know you guys don't understand because you're the women in this situation. But think about how sore my hand would be. After she was squeezing it during the pregnancy. A vacation could be nice. You are. Is it hard? Is that good? It tastes so hard as it is for me. And I'm like hyper privilege, it's wild. I just be drugged up the whole time. Did you go natural? I think I drank lean the whole thing. Was so sweet. Drugged. For gays. My mom did nothing to me and my sister. That's insane. That says, that's medieval. Insane. I was natural childbirth too. My mom, my brother, not so much. My brother came out one month early. Oh. And my mom said he basically, and because she was on an epidural, she's like, I felt like he just walked out. So small. Came to an incubator. How far apart are you exactly? We're like 15 months apart. Oh, so very well. It's a very, I didn't realize you were that close a name. Super close. On the Morgan program, all right? I guess I'm on her program. My mom was she got pregnant. She's like, this feels like something a lady that I don't know named Morgan Stewart would do. Yeah.

Jesus, because she just celebrated Cheryl Lee Ralph's Emmy by sending her an enormous gift. Oprah got my mother flowers. Oh my God. This is crazy. Wow. Wow. Wow. Yes. Oh. Oprah? You know how I would get flowers done, girl? Thank you. Oh, these two. Oh, don't drop me. Help them. Oh my goodness. I'm not gonna help them. I'm gonna mess up the flower. Can I just ask the question? This is beautiful, but why didn't they just back up into the driveway in the truck? Why don't they just back the truck into the driveway? The world is a confusing place. Yeah. Things are I don't know. I don't move a lot of things, but it seems like that might help. Yeah, I would agree. You know what? And next time she wins an Emmy, we're going to tell Oprah. Next time he's deliver flowers, make sure they're back in the up, okay? Gosh, stunning. I don't think I've ever seen a bouquet like this. It's absolutely beautiful. This is the flower queen over here. I love it. I think it's such a wasteful gift. Hunter. What do you want? It's such a nice gesture. Yeah. Why was it wasteful? 'cause you spend like for something like that, it's legitimately how much a thousand bucks at least a thousand. It's like 6 grand. Crazy? Yeah. Something like that would have been 5 grand. I said a thousand bucks at least. So I was right. And I also, I just want to say it's gonna die within two weeks. You get something that looks good for four days and then slowly you just watch the life leave it. Sorry, it's not a book. You carry the knowledge of a book with you for the rest of your life. And it's hard enough being security for a star as big as Lady Gaga, but there was a mix up at her concert in Miami when they confused a drag queen for the singer. Oh my God. I love that. The security was so confused. I love that too, and I love that he just owned it and was like, I'm a drag queen. It's on me. I would have owned it and been like, there are so many people that I don't know if y'all seen all these fake drakes walking around. But every life can do with a beard, claims he's Drake. He's saying overo and wearing out t-shirts. He's trying to get in the club. So the fact that they were like, I'm not Lady Gaga. I like it. The security guard just completely admitting that he fucked up. I love that. By the way, the does look exactly like Lady Gaga. I don't know about exactly. That's a lot. But also in this heavy crowd, I take any additional help I can get. Like, you know I hate, you know, I went to a Harry Styles concert. By the way, last week. We didn't. How was that? What the? I was invited by Madison Square Garden to be a guest. So I went because Bon Jovi was there a child. There was a lot of people that were invited and they wanted me to come and just like me and be in the owners area and just meet people. So it would happen to be a Harry Styles concert that night. It was divine. But leaving, they escort you until you get out the building. Until I get out the building. But once I got out, you on your own. And that crowd was. I don't know if you've ever been on girls who are off of Harry Styles

"Employees. Now, why have you been given $53 million in financing? It's a great question, Doug. Thank you very much for asking. In fact, in the last 12 months, we've raised about a $140 million. 87.5 million in our series a round from a crew capital. And now another $53 million just recently. And you know, for us, I think what happened essentially is we were not out looking for money. We grew fast and furiously in the last couple of years, about a 150% in our subscription business in the last 12 months, added a 146 people. And we now have 3200 customers in 72 countries with 78 countries around the world. And so what I think our investors saw and that's Bain capital ventures and a crew capital is that this sort of rocketship is going to continue to take off and then as ransomware attacks continue to increase the need for simple backup as a service that was truly sass and easy to deploy was going to become more important than ever before. And so what ultimately happened is a crew came back to haiku and said, you know, we'd like to invest more money in your business. And we'd like to own a larger stake in the company. We agreed to do that. And then Bain capital joined in followed by Cisco ventures and it last seen as well. And that's really exciting for us. I think not only did our existing investors come back to the party, so to speak and want to really double down on their investment. But adding strategic players like Cisco is so incredible for us and gives us such an extraordinary opportunity to kind of spread the haiku brand name to entirely different markets. I'm struck in your discussion there by companies like bane, which are almost household names, but you know, sometimes it's no secret that sometimes technology companies struggle in making their story better understood to companies that do finance organizations outside of technology. Yeah, you know, I always say that we sort of won the investor lottery. You know, we've got only a very small board of directors Enrique Salem and Teresa gal just joined the board as well. But Enrique Salem really should be a household name. You know, he is the chairman of our board, general partner at Bain capital. But he was the CEO of Symantec. He ran veritas. I mean, he is the chairman of the board of DocuSign. FireEye. I think Enrique is experience his wisdom and his ability to sort of support the business as we grew from a company with a thousand customers to 3000 customers and now moving to 10,000 customers has been nothing short of magical for the business for all of the team members. And then Theresa Gao, you know, one of the, I would say, why is this investment professionals in the United States or in the world? One of the first investors of Facebook, for example, you know, I think she brings such character in such integrity to any board that she's on. And I think her wisdom and her experience backing companies in the infrastructure technology space is incredibly positive for our business. Simon, we started our discussion today..

"I actually had a 5th this is great teachers who impressed that upon us too. I was very fortunate in my I didn't learn anything, but people kept trying to teach me. And in 5th and 6th grade, I had teachers who really thought it was important. We understand Spanish speak Spanish. As many years ago, and we started to Aztec Inca and Mayan civilizations and you know it's just we're fortunate and I always thought it was great and so I kept working on it. And I think it probably contributed to me getting hired by DEA. I was a Spanish speaker, I had a degree in finance, and so I think it probably helped. And so to your point, so I applied to the DEA and I think the summer of 84, we got notified in November of 84. I've been hired. That was going to start the academy in February of 85. Man, that was quick. Who did you pay off or who did you have pictures on to get through that fast? I'm just going to plead the 5th and keep talking. Hey, you know what, talking about your grandmother, not being able to understand your Spanish. There's a lot of things you say to me in English that I don't understand. So I feel for that lady. Yeah, well, I don't know if that's because I talk faster, your ears are flapping, but there's a lot of things you say in English, I don't understand. So I just tell Murph I don't talk fast. You just listen slow. I mean, hit that southern southern thing, man. We're fine. What do you mean? What do you mean? Bulldogs. Yeah. But guess what? Alabama's already consensus number one for next year already. So there you go. Jerry foster says hello. Yeah. Yeah, well, we'll talk about her later. But back to our regularly scheduled podcast. So when you got to the academy, did you have to take a, you'd already spoke, like you said, you're just good that you were flown in Spanish. Did you have to take a proficiency test at the academy or did that come later for them to determine what your level? Yeah, so I did not. We didn't have to have a proficiency exams going to the academy for Spanish because it wasn't really required. However, what was required and we didn't anticipate this was as many people from who know the history of DEA and really if anybody for the people who watched narcos on Netflix show that really, I think escalated the awareness about DEA and especially the great work that Stephen hobby did. You know, the show starts out with the kidnapping of the agent Enrique coming in. And how that really changed how the world saw drug trafficking and the cartels behaved and what have you. And what that happened just before I started academy and keke was from imperial valley near San Diego, many of the agents that I started working with and San Diego were friends of Kiki's. And so that was quite a welcome to DEA moment. And it changed my academy experience as well as significant I got there. And they were threats out..

But it's very blowing my mind because this guy, I think he had about off the top of my head, maybe roughly like 13 ish, directing credits. And there's just a lot of Liam Neeson there. So much. 'cause there's also like Enrique and Iglesias music video evolved in there so you know not all of them are feature films. Yeah. Four of his features are Liam Neeson. Well, he has a very particular set of skills. He has a very good working relationship with Liam. They have to be like best buds or something. Tesla Daily: Tesla News & Analysis
Karpathy Talks Deep Learning, Elon Musk, FSD Beta, & Waymo Competition
"Our here and today we're going to be mostly talking about some takeaways from a recent interview of tesla's director of artificial intelligence. Enrique are happy on a podcast called the robot brains podcast which i willing to in the show notes. The whole conversation is about an hour and five minutes. I would highly recommend listening to all of it. I thought it was very approachable. And hopefully it helps set the stage for a conversation. We're going to have later this week. Quick look at the stock tesla today finished down one point two percent to six hundred and sixty two dollars sixteen cents not a bad day overall. Considering the nasdaq itself finished down. One point one percent are going into the carpet. The interview again great interview. I think it's super interesting in terms of timing right now because this is so current tesla's obviously working on the fasd beta right now. Andre did share some thoughts on that which we will get to you. I do wanna give a little bit of background though for people that aren't familiar with andres background so he has a history and education research again. A lot of notoriety in the field of artificial intelligence and specifically in deep learning. Because of his course at stanford about deep learning which was really the first of its kind and those lectures were also shared on youtube. Gained a ton of traction. There so andre was teaching that class at stanford got his phd. There after that he joined open. A i search scientist spent a couple of years there but at that point in his life he had been doing research for about a decade reading papers writing papers so he talks about that period of time in this interview and joining tesla saying quote. I was definitely getting a little bit restless. At that time i felt like these algorithms are extremely and can really move the needle on some very incredibly important problems in society. I wanted to take a more active role in doing that. So i was getting a bit restless. I was looking at different opportunities and say startups and things like that and then one thing that kind of happened on the side is because open at the time under the umbrella of ulan organizations few times we were interacting with people at tesla and i was kind of consulting a little. Bit for some of the problems and autopilot. I kind of realized that they were dealing with fundamentally a deep learning computer vision and this was the fundamental constraint to whether or not this product were work so i was kind of intrigued by that but it was just a few consulting opportunities here and there. I sorta spoke to the team. But at this time when i was getting really wrestles to apply this technology in the industry actually ilan reached out and asked me. Hey you've been sort of consulting for the team. Do you actually want to join and lead the computer vision team here and help get this car to drive. And so he taught me a very kind of correct time. When i was really getting restless and i feel like this is perfect and i think i can do this. I think i have the skill to contribute here. This is an incredibly impactful opportunity. And i love the company and of course i love yuan and everything that he's doing and so i would say that again was a moment stars align for me and i felt very strongly that this is the right thing to do at this time and quote so long quote there but i appreciated having that background. I've always kind of wondered if andres heart was really in the research realm and if you lon had kind of convinced him and pulled him away from that but that doesn't sound like the case from how hundred describes. He said that at that time when he made that decision to go to tesla he and his colleagues at opening i had joked around that he'd probably only make it about six months. And here we are four years later. I'm really happy about that. Because i think under just a perfect fit for this role. Not only does he have an incredible understanding of the technical challenges that tesla's facing but he also seems to have the right personality for it. He talked about working with yuan. Then also get into some of the technical stuff here in a second but he said quote. He's a double edged sword in terms of working with him because he wants the future yesterday and he will push people and he will inject a lot of energy and he wants to happen quickly. And you have to be of a certain. I think attitude to really tolerate that over long periods of time. But he's around some self with people who get energy out of that and also on the future to happen quicker. Those people really thrive at tesla. And so i happen to. Also i think be like that and so i don't personally mind it. I actually thrive on it and the energy of getting this to work faster and quote. I think this anecdote probably serves as a good reminder. That high turnover isn't necessarily a bad thing just by default you'll often see articles without a lot of data honestly being critical of tesla for having high turnover especially in management. But from the outside. It seems like they go through these cycles where they have a lot of turnover in short periods of time and then they find the person that's right for the role and also vice versa that the role is right for them and seems like those people tend to stick for a long long time better to have high turnover work through a number of different people and find the right person than to stick with the wrong person for too long anyway. The other salient point. That andre made about you on came about from a discussion on tussles hardware in the vertical integration. Andre said quote. I think to a large extent yulon sees ai as just a fundamental pillar of a lot of this technology and wants to invest in internal teams that develop a lot of this technology and co design. Everything tesla is definitely about vertical integration and squeezing a lot of juice from the benefits of that and quote. He continued on with that line of thought and mentioned co design. Three or four times. I think which is really one of the most important and special elements of tesla. This co design idea particularly how the organization is structured around that idea. Tesla's purpose built hardware chips for full self. Driving is obviously a great example of that structural batteries a great example of that before that you had super bottle than the octo valve the list just goes on and on and overtime continues to grow so pay very very close attention to that when andre says that you on sees a i as a fundamental pillar of a lot of their technologies we're still in the very early innings of that actually showing up in tesla's business are at so getting into some of his more technical comments than this is going to be a really long quote. I apologize for that. But i think it's a good primer. So he was asked. How would you describe deep learning to your parents. Andre says quote. Let's use a specific example. Because i think it's useful so let's talk about image recognition we have images images are made up to a computer of a large number of pixels and each pixel just tells you the brightness of the red green and blue channel at that point

"Now did the Democrats was there chicanery? There was judge did have to intervene when it came to the poll watchers in once again a Democrat jurisdiction in Georgia, and then you've got these razor thin margins and you see the Democrats. Engaging in illegal activity in the court's having to intervene to force them to behave legally. And then at the end of the day, you've got votes with razor thin margins that could be decided one way or the other behind closed doors when Democrat leftist radicals Khamis, Venezuelan, Cuban loving wife beating, you know typical Democrats. Um, they block the poll workers that poll watchers rather and workers and and it it's just that it's again. A judge had intervene in court had to intervene last night and explain to the Democrats how this is supposed to work when you're counting ballots. The Democrats don't want anybody watching because they're fascists, basically. Their fascist forces. They're likely to come into town today as well, because they've got a lot of fascism. The news media encourage them on say that they're mostly peaceful when in fact, they're entirely violent. But that's that's what we've got You and and Enrique Terrio. This is this is an amazing story. Enrique Terry of his car was targeted and driving, and I guess that tunnel over on Capitol Hill Third Street Tunnel The police pulled him over and they arrested him because they had an outstanding warrant for him because there is apparently video of him, Um, setting ablaze. A black lives matter Banner month ago or so in Washington, D C. And they've been targeting for that. Now Democrats been burning American flags all over the city. Since then they burned Businesses. Since then, they burned historic churches. I don't think there any arrests than that. But if you burn a black lives matter banner that cost 40 bucks done it that you know Kinko's, then the police target. You have a dragnet, the intelligence they spot your car coming in. Probably helicopters, drones. It's you know, bugs and his buttons and shoes. It's like enemy of the state. And they arrest the black Cuban American white supremacist as he's arriving in Washington and yesterday, a judge maybe a judge from Venezuela. I'm not sure Yesterday, a judge announced they announced that he had Enrique Terrio, the black Cuban white supremacist, has been banned from Washington, D C band. Band from the city of Washington. I'm not making this up is actually true. They judge has banned Enrique A Terrio from Washington, D. C. They arrested him on church. They say it burning a black lives matter. Banner. That they say was hanging in front of a church, which they say is a historic black church. I've been by the Church of 1000 Times, never knew that it was historic black church. They put a cheesy banner out front that says black lives matter. They don't mean it. They send checks to planned Parenthood kicks terminates 40% of the black population 400 out of 1000 black babies, But you know they're okay with that paid attention to the Auschwitz behind the curtain. But the black lives matter very deeply. If you know police officers involved, although you know more people were killed in lightning strikes last year than there were unarmed black people killed by the police. But pay no attention to that. You're not going to see that on CNN are in the Washington Post extraordinary stuff said. Now we're banning people from cities in the United States of America. Also, apparently in the car. There were two magazines for an A R 15 that are not legal in Washington, D C. It was fine when David Gregory had one on meet the Press live on television on On NBC. They didn't arrest him for that. Of course, But boy Oh, boy. Oh, boy, man. Oh, man, is Schevitz the markets Wall Street, fully schizophrenic and absolutely schizophrenic mode because they don't know what to do with the tech stocks are taking a beating on the NASDAQ because it looks like the Democrats going to be in charge of everything. And that means they're going to go after you know, allegedly that this is BS. Also, they say they're gonna go after Big Tech. They're not big Tech. Put him here. Big Tech is fully whittled into the incoming alleged Biden administration with an asterisk. And and that s O. But the NASDAQ stacks there are plummeting because of Democrat control. And honestly, I'd like to see him all go out of business because they're the ones that put these crooks here. But never mind all that also, if well, we'll get into what Joe Biden's bar is, um, a zoo. We go forward, but is that you think that African American unemployment rate is ever going to be as low again ever as it was under President Trump? Do you think the Hispanic unemployment that's actually the job of a president not making you feel good and telling your daughter that he's your son? But, you know, eliminating gender terms in the House of Representatives says the Democrats did the other day. Now, This is the old college campus thing. We've been tracking this for years. Now it's been coming out of the college campuses. With his lunacy where there is no gender or their 57 genders and boys can't be girls and girls could be boys just mixed up world. It's a mixed up girl that was Lola. But the the things that we're seeing, boy Oh, boy. Oh, boy, I am telling you absolutely extraordinary stuff that we're saying there was violence as I mentioned in D. C last night because the left attacked Trump supporters. The news media blames trump supporters.
