And one final point, which, unfortunately, very sadly. Applies to an awful lot of people. Did you receive? Or even are you currently receiving Unemployment benefits. If you're getting unemployment income in 2020 because of being laid off due to the virus. That unemployment income is taxable income. A lot of folks don't realize this. They get that unemployment check and they figure well, thank goodness I have it Since I lost my paycheck. I can use this to pay my bills. You need to remember that that unemployment income is taxable income, and I hope you kept some aside. So that you don't know the IRS A whole bunch of money come April. Let me shift over to the subject of financial planning on DH. Talk about women for a moment. If you're a boomer on your female you well, remember the fight for equal rights back in the 19 eighties 40 years ago. There were an awful lot of advances that women brought forth as a result of the equal rights movement, but there has been a slide backwards, according to a study by U BES millennial women. A generation behind the boomers. Have slid backwards. According to this study, educated and high achieving millennial married women say they're leaving the financial decision making to their husbands, and they're doing this more than their mothers did. Of all the millennial women who live with a male partner. 54% of them allow the male partner or husband. Make the financial decisions in their household on Lee 39% of Boomer women did that and the primary reason, according to the study, when women are asked, why are you allowing the man in your life? To make the financial decisions in your household. The number one answer that the women give is He knows more than I do. This is a real problem. There are million people who left the workforce in just the last two months. 80% of them were women. Millennia, women say, According to the survey, they don't consider financial participation as necessary for equality. I think that's a huge mistake when we recognize That men die sooner than women. On average women live 5 to 7 years longer than men Dio on DH women tend to marry men who are a year or two older than them. The result is that 80% of women die alone. They die single, unmarried, divorced or widowed if you are delegating or, frankly abdicating A financial decision making in your household to someone else. What's gonna happen when the someone else isn't there? You're going to be facing financial decisions that you are poorly equipped to manage or maintain. And here's the craziest part of all you know about atrophy, right? You know that when you're really good at Playing chess. You're really good at bowling. You're really good at driving. Whatever it is, you're really good at if you don't do it for a really long time, your skills atrophy. In other words, If you don't stay in practice, you get bad on it. And you might know in your twenties and thirties on awful lot about personal finance. You might know what the current tax code is. You might understand how much you're spending on your mortgage. You might know the law about how much you can contribute to an IRA. You know all that in your twenties and thirties, But if you then Stop engaging, allowing your spouse or partner toe. Handle it instead. You fast forward 30 years the partners go on out of your life. All of a sudden, you're pretty rusty. You've allowed your skills to atrophy. The knowledge that you have is out of date, The IRA rules could.

Beach and park goers are also being advised to stay six feet away from others in or out of the water. The mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti says it's the patriotic thing to do, wearing a mask and keeping your distance that says you love your nation and the people who live in it. Beaches in Los Angeles and Ventura counties will be closed.

Sam Querrey on becoming a stay-at-home dad

"Our special guest is Sam. Query SAM is a thirty two year old ranked number forty five in the world who just welcomed his first child a baby boy in February with his wife. Abby Dixon he tells us what it's like to jump from full-time tennis pro two fulltime Dad. As a member of the council he has a lot of insight into all the decision. Making that's been happening regarding the schedules in twenty twenty. And he also laments the loss of Wimbledon as someone that has reached the semi-finals there in two thousand seventeen and the quarter finals twice. He's GonNa Miss The all England club a lot this year but you still has world team tennis to look forward to something that he prioritizes each year. He tells us why. So here's our episode with Sam Querying All Right Sam. Welcome to the PODCAST. Thanks for joining us today. For having me. Let's kick off with number one question these days. How is this quarantine treating you? And what is life like in the Query Household You know it's the quarantines brutal like everyone else I mean. I know people have bigger problems when I got here at home but It's tough not playing tennis. Not Outside I feel bad for the rest of the US and the rest of the world so hopefully this all end in a in a few months and we can Flattened the curve as they say and as far as it goes for me and my wife and I have a five week old son at home. So we're keeping busy. You know up during the night or you know. Mostly her feen and You Know Swat on him gone on some neighborhood walk so he's keeping US busy. So that's the No the one good part for this is that I get to be home with my little newborn son where Norway to normal tennis schedule. I probably would have missed a handful of these first few months. Yeah your son was born from what I can tell February nineteenth. That is a very very newborn baby. You were not expecting to become a full-time father so quickly. Were you know we were? Actually you know we. We were down in the Indian Wells Tournament. We drove down my wife. My mother-in-law father-in-law. My parents were down there. The tournament got cancelled and and You know we. We drove back home. And then you know we've been home ever since I was planning on. Go to Miami. I'm going to Miami and Houston and kind of getting a little break. I guess you would call it away from waking up early and waking up during the evenings to help out but You know now I'm just at home during the full-time fulltime dad thing or as much as I can't do that you know the man doesn't. I don't offer that much to the child. At this point it is joined the whole thing. I mean this is your first child. It's very exciting. I mean tell us more about Ford. Where where'd you get that name from? Actually it's a very unique name. Yes it's a family named for my wife side. It's her grandmother's name. And so it Kinda popped up popped up in our heads a few months before he was born and we we both really liked it. And so we We stuck with it and so far. Being a dad is great. I've really looking forward to having kids for a while and so's my wife and so you know this process. It's definitely challenging. Like anyone would say with the you know trying to keep them happy and basically you know you need your undivided attention between one of us. Twenty four seven but it's really fulfilling and really fun and he. He slowly getting to the point where he's kind of having some little expressions on his face and smiles every now and then you can tell starting to look at you a little more We also have a one year old chocolate labs or trying to get the two of them to get along which is a little tricky right now but a hopefully they'll become friends and a couple of years. Technically you have two babies at home. Pretty much Yes exactly the dog obviously has more energy than any animal. I've ever seen in my life and then the baby Kinda sleeps all day. So they're they're kind of on opposite schedules which is funny but you know definitely adds a little twist things when you've got the one year old puppy to deal with as well of the positives that. I'm sure that you can see. Is that by having puppy? That is a chocolate lab and super energetic. Probably have a lot of time to go and exercise with him. Exactly we're going You know like a lot of the neighborhood where we live. I mean it when we we've gone on to three or four walks day and you see a bunch of kids their bikes out on skateboards and everyone kind of is leaving the house at some point or other during the day trying to get some exercise of course keeping away from each other. But it's a very active neighborhood right now. We've seen a lot of players finding creative ways to stay fit and even trying to maybe have Iraq in their hands and even hitting on little home tennis courts. Did you have a court? You can hit on nearby. That's safe so to speak or are you keeping the tennis spirit alive. Yes no I mean in Los Angeles. We're right now. There's a handful of people that have private tennis courts around. I didn't hit this last week. I'm not hitting this week but to pay on how long this kind of warranty lasts. I am going to have to find a court at some point and get some reps in so There's a couple of people I know that. Have accorded their house. I can open with a coach. Keep it to two or three people and and probably kind of get some reps in some tiny houses on my and things like that and then hopefully when things are are lifted and we have a little more freedom to walk around You know I can get back some more. A kind of Richmond in practice of some of the other pros. Do you WANNA get back. Start playing again. But you don't really have a reason to just yet so speaking of recording this a little bit ahead of the official news but it looks like Wimbledon. It's going to be cancelled. And you are someone that has absolutely thrived at the All England Club. You've made the semi-finals their quarterfinals. Twice a move like that. Are you shocked by having the Grassi's in now go yeah? I'm I'm really bombed? I saw it coming. I think everyone saw him coming You know we've got to get this virus under control but not only just because it's Wimbledon but every time it gets cancelled. It's it's such a huge bummer and You know like you said it's hard to start practicing because we don't know the start date of when we're gonNA play so it's not a let me answer a lot of players are now. You're not overly motivated to get in the gym and get on the Court. Because hey is are we gonNA play again in three months and six months in twelve months? So it's tough to time it so just got to kind of do your best to stay active and and hit when you can and and then once the You know once we know what's going on and we know. Hey we're GONNA start playing tennis October. I really for a player like me and I think most buyers if you have four to six weeks to prepare and practicing tim you can be back to your your high end playing level relatively soon exactly. I think that's that's a pretty good way to look at it but again I mean I'm still pretty stuck on this thing. You made the quarterfinals there last year. And now you know that the rankings are at this point frozen. Is it a massive relief thinking that you don't have to defend that no? I mean I'd rather I look. I'd rather I'd rather go play lose first round lose all the points and just be able to play Wimbledon to to miss. It is is worse than than worrying about defending points. I mean I know some people might be worried about that but for me. I'm not worried about defending points. I'd rather go out and lose. First Round of the next fifteen tournaments. I play but at least have the chance to play so I guess we're not exactly sure on the tour what we're doing the ranking jet as of now. They're frozen wants to get going again. We'RE GONNA determine how they're going to you know how points drop off how they're going to or how they're gonna go about doing the ranking system. So like I said I. I'm not worried about the points coming off and I would rather just play the council meetings. I mean it's it's hard to have everybody's opinions and different people shouting at different things at different ways on how to keep the points how to defend the points how to restructure the ranking system. Pretty much by the time we come back. Were you on the end of wanting to keep the freeze or were you against the freeze? Or what are your thoughts on the whole process on figuring out the ranking system? Yeah I'm for the freeze in. I'm on I'm on the player council assignment although the phone calls and things and there's so many different options in scenarios and we're trying to narrow down to the best one and the only thing that I can really say for sure is whatever solution we come to. It's not gonNa work for everyone. There's GonNa be people that benefit from it and people that don't benefit from it. So that's what makes this difficult as well as there's not going to be a perfect solution and that that's what tennis all sports all things alive. There's not going to be a perfect solution that fits everyone so everyone has to be somewhat flexible with whatever the decision is that the council sort the tour decides when it comes to the

"The matches that are going on around particularly incentive cortin inside number one coach always a great atmosphere here the blue and white flowers matching with the green creeper to pick out the colors of the all england club and the stream that's running behind me it's all very decorative and water of course is an issue here because they've got so much cross to look after for the grass courts in the stream itself actually is no such thing it actually circulates perpetually and there's a shine to explain that to the punters in case they're worried that water is being wasted an act really good news for the organizers in a sense last night we had finally after many weeks some heavy rain last night only for half an hour or show but that's certainly freshened up the lawns around me and it's made the arab bit fresher as well actually this morning still going to be a hot day though later on today when we get the action going once again the biggest news from here at wimbledon on wednesday was the ousting of yet another top seed in the women's draw number two seed and australian open champion caroline wozniacki ousted by katharina macara in three sets in the second round it looked inevitable when she was five one down in the final set but she hold it back and seem to be back on track only from a character to collect yourself from wind through seven five in the third in the end wasn't yankees exit means only well number one and defending champion caffeine or muga reuther and seventh seed caroliina plus cover remained from the chop age in the women's draw dane wozniacki looked rather stunned and upset by what had happened i played someone who you know went all in with every single shot and a lot of lines a lot of you know crazy shots were going in and you know she was playing well then at that point what can you do you just have to keep fighting and wait for your opportunity and you know i i thought all i had and i just lack just a little bit today so she's going home of course serena williams still here it's just a ranking is rather lonely after time for having a baby but she's still one of the favorites and moved into the third round saying she was feeling better than she had for her first round game not something the rest of the draw particularly want to hear roger federer also through with these and former runnerup me las ranches progressing as well he went through in straightsets yesterday but it was harder than it sounded against australia's john millman because all three sets went to try brakes around each is through nonetheless despite that particular test later on today a few matches to catch up with of course because of the problems with the rain last night marin chile will return later well ahead of guido pella and south africa's number eight seed kevin anderson was also delayed he's twosetstoone up against andreas seppi genesis alshabaab wasn't even able to start her match against katharina sinker all the news from here women alden today at wimbledon eighteen thirty gmt here on the bbc now there is some sport going on away from here at wimbledon football not the world cup instead you ventures managing director giuseppe marotta has not wished to clear things up very much on the possibility of this area champions making a move for real madrid's cristiano ronaldo reports suggested the reigning champions league holders are weighing whether to sell ronaldo is sports journalist italian football expert james hardcastle he's wages which had a big problem because they are four times what he quite the current highest earner is being paid so you are interested they've been talking to his agent but it looks like this is going to be a very difficult transferred to pull off and we could we see a joint bid from north african countries algieria tunisia and morocco to host the football world cup in twenty thirty morocco of course lost out for the fifth time when it was awarded in twenty twenty six to the joint northamerican bid of the us canada and mexico now algeria in particular shay that they are looking at a joint north african bid for twenty thirty along with morocco syria bidders for the championship and tunisia talking to football i mentioned the big screen here at wimbledon of course england are in a world cup quarterfinal on saturday afternoon which is going.
