We're hearing officials at the Federal Reserve are considering throwing first republic bank a little lifeline if it needs it. Our source says the fed is thinking of expanding an emergency lending facility for banks in ways that would give first republic bank more time to shore up its balance sheet. But extra support may not be needed. Watchdogs see first republic as staple enough to operate without an immediate intervention as the company and its advisers try to work out a deal to shore up that balance sheet. Investors who are wary in the wake of the Credit Suisse takeover last week are a waiting for the next shoe to drop and they're focused on Deutsche Bank. Sharers fell in the cost of ensuring its debt against default rose in sudden moves that some attributed to hedge funds, seeking to profit from the broader turmoil in the financial industry. Deutsche Bank's shares fell as much as 15% before pairing losses to end Friday down 8 and a half percent in Frankfurt. There was no clear trigger for the declines Friday, but hedge funds have turned their attention to Deutsche Bank in the wake of the collapse of Credit Suisse group and three regional U.S. banks. Meantime, the Swiss government was compelled to intervene to save Credit Suisse group as the troubled bank wouldn't have survived another day of trading amid a crisis of investor confidence. That's according to finance minister Karin Keller Sutter speaking with Zürich newspaper and ZZ. Keller Sutter said the crash of Credit Suisse would have sent other banks into the abyss. French authorities have asked airlines to continue cutting flights through next Wednesday amid strikes over a retirement reform law, more from Bloomberg's Charlie pellet. The country's civil aviation authority is asking airlines to reduce flights at Paris orle airport by 20% on Tuesday and Wednesday. Companies were already asked to cut flights there by 33% this weekend and by 20% on Monday, regional airports in Marseille and Lyon have also been asked to cut flights. That resolves a dispute that threatened to undermine the block's ambitious blueprint to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The vehicle should be parked outside and away from homes even if they're turned off because they could experience an electrical short that could start a fire. The New York Democrat says the parental Bill of rights measure passed by House Republicans opens the door to book bans and censorship and schools. Nika magas has more. Fresno assemblyman Jim Patterson thinks the penalty for selling fentanyl should be more strict than other illegal drugs because it's far more deadly. What we have gotten from the state of California instead from a public safety committee is a refusal to hold drug dealers accountable. His bill would have closed the loophole that bases the penalties on weight. Patterson says families of fentanyl overdose victims are outraged after the assembly public safety committee did not vote on the legislation. Members, police files obtained by CBS News, show that two of the officers Dmitri is Haley and Desmond mills junior, both received written reprimands for separate incidents involving use of force. Another one of the officers Emmett Martin the third was suspended for three days after a gun was found in the back seat of his patrol car after his shipped ended. And Justin Smith was suspended for two days for hitting another vehicle while in an unmarked cruiser. The search for an attempted murder suspect has ended after a standoff with police in Oregon, correspondent lilia Luciano is near the home where he was found in grant's pass. The approach behind large shields assembling in a line, then moved in. After the standoff, foster was brought to the hospital, where police say he died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Benjamin foster was suspected of kidnapping, beating and torturing a woman, police believe he searched for other victims on dating apps. A former actor with a role in 1990s dances with wolves has been arrested in Nevada. Police say Nathan chasing horse headed up a cult called the circle and lived at his Las Vegas home with 5 wives. "With my son, there was a white officer that was tasing my son and we don't understand how come his name was not put out there. So far, two Memphis fire personnel as well as two Shelby county sheriff's deputies have been placed on leave pending investigations. Attorneys for two of the former officers, Desmond mills junior, and Emmett Martin saying their clients intend to plead not guilty. Mills attorney releasing a statement saying, we are confident that the questions of whether Desmond crossed the lines at others crossed and whether he committed the crimes charged will be answered with a resounding no. ABC News reached out to the attorneys representing former officers Justin Smith to dairies bean but have not heard back. An attorney for Demetrius Haley declined to comment. Throughout the weekend peaceful protests from coast to coast calls for justice in tyrese name. Meanwhile, Nichols family asking that this is how he is remembered. The young man who loved photography and skateboarding. The district attorney says more charges are an option the investigation is still ongoing. So more individuals could be charged at a later time. I spoke with one of the attorneys representing one of the former officers Desmond mills junior and he says that the level of culpability for the officers is different. He also says that his client regrets what happened. And the parents of Tyree Nichols have accepted an invitation to president Joe Biden's State of the Union address in Washington D.C. next week, an invite was extended by the congressional black caucus, specifically Nevada democratic congressman Steven horsford, horsford has called for a meeting with Biden on behalf of the CBC to push for reforms to the justice system specifically law enforcement. At a speech in Springfield, Virginia, President Biden says these are encouraging numbers. And I'm not sure. I mean, it's sincerely the news could have been any better. Economic growth is up, stronger than expert expected at 2.9%. We're going. That 2.9% was a bit lower than the 3.2% growth we saw in the third quarter. But the president touting other numbers that he says shows a growing economy. 6 months inflation has gone down every month and God willing will continue to do that. Manufacturing jobs continue to grow stronger than any time in the last 40 years. And I don't think it's unfair to say that this is all evidence that the Biden economic plan because you all is actually working that's working. Jobs numbers continue to be strong last year employers added four and a half million jobs. Second most since 1940 and the unemployment rate for December of three and a half percent matched a 53 year low. They've been telling me since I got elected. We're going to be in a recession. Every time we've gone, we gotten better. Well, it turns out, thank God they were wrong. Still, many analysts do believe a recession is coming this year, as the Federal Reserve continues to raise key interest rates in an attempt to slow down the economy and tamp down on inflation. Another potential pitfall, the debt ceiling, which analysts say, could trigger a deep recession if Congress does not vote to raise it, something House Republicans say they will only do when Democrats offer key concessions on spending. Look, if Republicans want to work together on real solutions and continue to grow manufacturing jobs, build the strongest economy in the world to make sure Americans are paid a fair wage, I'm ready. But I will not let anyone use the full faith and credit of the United States as a bargaining ship. Your United States of America, we pay our debts. The Treasury Department says a vote on the debt limit will need to happen likely by June and the fed is expected to raise rates again next week, something likely to cool the job market and reduce American spending. The head of the Tennessee bureau of investigation says the traffic stop that resulted in Tyree Nichols death in no way reflected proper policing. This was wrong. This was criminal. And director David rausch and W M C TV says. Frankly, I'm shocked. I'm sickened. Shelby county district attorney Steve mulroy says all 5 officers are being charged with second degree murder. Kidnapping and other violations in the brutal beating that took place after Nichols was pulled over pepper sprayed, fled, and then caught again, and allegedly beaten for several minutes. While each of the 5 individuals played a different role in the incident in question, the actions of all of them resulted in the death of Tyree Nichols, and they are all responsible. Mulroy says he'll release the police videos of the traffic, stop Friday evening. It's my hope that if there is any silver lining to be drawn from this very dark cloud, it's that perhaps this incident can open a broader conversation about the need for police reform.
