I said earlier today, a couple hours ago or so. The idea of speaking to people informed about all of this stuff on game stuff. We talked to Lawrence Tab of Bloomberg Intelligence on Wall Street in particularly New York. Wall Street is absolutely definitive about the mechanisms that are out there. The sausage making of the Wall Street machine. We do that again untraded. Ng Michael O'Rourke is chief market strategist It Jones trading. You don't know the name Jones trading. You should know that their job is to get out of the way and execute large black trades to the benefit of their clients. They go back a Jew zillion years. They did block trades for George Washington, right after the revolution. Michael O'Rourke joins us this morning, Michael, What is it? Ben? Like it? Jones trading in the last 48 hours. You guys have seen all this before, as I am, But what's the distinction this time? I mean, it's been pretty remarkable, Tom. Obviously, a lot of these names start trading at four in the morning. Um so we you know, we were basically man 24 24 6. I think it is. So, um, We have guys trading at all times for our clients and it Z been like I said, pretty remarkable. We've been active. It's been busy. We are seeing a lot institutions. Trying to manage the situation and, you know Take him take advantage of opportunities when they're there, but also be a little bit defensive. And, you know, because I think it was a risky environment. I don't want to get you in trouble Your general counsel and ruin your Friday, but I'm going to ask Are you seeing evidence that the sophisticates are going long on these various shorts? I, You know, I wouldn't say we are. Um, but, you know, I don't see a lot of that. You know, I don't see the day to day trading action as more of Ah, I talked to the client about what's going on the market. But I don't see the orders, basically so That's a nice out. I'm like I was a rude question, and he gave me the answer was a non answer. Emily Michael O'Rourke really succeeded at that. Well, I also want to ask Michael a little bit since this is balance of power, and we do try and combined the markets and Washington Michael, you know, several House and a Senate panel have already said that they're going to begin investigating everything we've seen in the markets in the past week. What if anything, is Congress's role here? I think they're right. I know Miss Elizabeth Warren make comments yesterday. Just about a lot of has to do with the integrity. The markets. Um there's been a lot of issues building up for years. I think earlier in this week during the FOMC press conference, Mike McKee nailed it. When he asked the chairman chairman Powell about Red T margin requirements is the Fed was considering it. And obviously, Chairman, Palace said No when he turned power, it's It's several questions about this. Basically saying the stock market wasn't his responsibility. When it comes to financial stability is we're about the banking system. And the feds. You know, responsibility is Mars requirements. Um, you know, I would expect he should have to answer in front of Congress as well, because obviously a lot of yesterday's dislocation. Was different firms imposing margin requirements on their clients to protect themselves and their other clients were not involved in this speculation. So I think I think this is something building for quite some time. We've lost a lot of market's pricing mechanism, and I think Congress should step in and really review what's going on here because because this is not a healthy market environment. So when Congress does get these individuals at these hearings in front of them, what kind of questions do lawmakers need to ask? What do they need to be focused on? I think you know, I think a lot of it is the social media aspect of this whole phenomenon is pretty remarkable when you talk like I've written about in the past. Obviously, social media is basically changing society now and whether it's the events that we start politically in Washington or events we're seeing here. Guy work for brokers industry in the brokerage industry were so highly regulated everything you know everything I say, um, They have to be cleared every message. Every communications log. Um, I've seen a lot of this information about the stocks on social media that are encouraging people to buy things. And I mean, the primary example is this AMC? Um Entertainment, the movie theater company where people are trying to swim shorts in this, But this company has press releases out this week, you know, saying that they sold 230 million new shares. And then you had silver Lee come out, convert their convertible that another 44 million shares out there and you don't see that aspect of it or the real news getting disseminated on social media. So people reacting to looking at social media for their news. It's a really it's right bad information. Michael Rock very quickly around the time I could go on for hours with you with this wonderful trading perspective. Do you just just assume that Dtcc is going to come back to the well and demand more money? You know what? I don't know. I actually don't think that's probably the case because I think I think everyone else is acting responsibly and everyone's trying to shore their books up. So I think they kind of made their statement made their move yesterday. I think once you see that people tend to step into line And hopefully we don't have any issues. Michael Rocks, Thank you so much. Jones Trading greatly appreciated today. Emily from near the Gucci store in Washington emails in and says Tom, We're not talking about politics, so I'll fix that here quickly, Michael wrote Jones trading folks goes so far back. About the way it used to be and how they have modernized to move forward here to create value. You know, Emily, I really wonder here what Washington's gonna do when they need to get into the obscurities of the dtcc. The people that are the clearinghouse Usually there's a couple lawmakers who know exactly what's going on, and everyone else relies on their stuff. Wait in the lawmakers rely on to other staff members who are 25 years old, right? 24 6 24 something like that. We're gonna continue this discussion much, much.

It was great because Fargo came into the conversation a lot because rescue came out. Fargo had come out before Fargo was such a definitive filmgoing experience for me and it was so perfectly brilliantly everything that I wanted to be that almost any movie that they would have released subsequent to that not sure that I would have got and foregoing Lebowski Basque so different from each other. In the way that they're movies tend to be you can tell they wanted to move on and do something different astor Fargo which is so darkened. But I did. Read the birth of blood sample baked. They shot a couple of scenes in shopping around for a year to raise seven hundred fifty thousand dollars so I I didn't realize that he was not the DP on Fargo but makes it makes sense. The style stylistically things started to change. But I can't remember when I saw on sure I saw it opening weekend. I have no doubt. Yeah because I I love their films and it's a goal of mine and I haven't gone for several. I either love to work with them more than anybody more than anyone. You deserve that lay. I mean I said I said to Michael. He made it. He made a joke about the little lebowski would be about thirty years old now right that the dude has with Moslem Bosque. I said well Michael. This is perfect. And he's like I'm too old for that now I said you could. You could play that down but you and Michael both would be so perfect in the COEN brothers metaverse. There's no question I think so too but I have. You auditioned for them. In the past. I auditioned for a simple man. The part that Richard kind got that wonderful role. Big would not see me for true grit. You can do a Westerns. Totally do Westerns one hundred percent. I can build West. I've met them and every time I've met them. I put my slip in my mouth. I get so nervous around them and I know Fran a little outside of Bam. They first of all their body of work is With me it all starts with performances. Yes so the performances in Fargo. Yes down to. The smallest role are just just just perfect. Just brilliant and I think they used a few people I I went to the cast list yesterday on. Imdb was looking up with certain people small roles and some of them never worked. That was their only film. Like one of the the The smaller The smaller of the two girls that they had slept with the one that said he's funny looking looking at he wasn't circumcised. He did Oklahoma because he was a big song and dance man right he was a storm in dance sky and then disappear. Yeah this was the first movie in twenty twenty years or something. I think he added as he had. A big career is a Broadway as a leading. The Ami wasn't a big star right and then. Who is this guy? Who's this bold law and then it's it's hard press. Mel Mandy excused their. I'm going on three going just McDonald's Beck at nine thirty. The Collins saying that he was such a nice guy that it was hard in a ragged to be the Dick that they needed him to be on strayed. Will they got it out of him? And that's why I've always wanted to work with him. Going how do you what do you do to get these performances from these people in every film I mean admittedly not. "Got new details on what comes next for the president's former fixer morning, Joe is back in a moment. Donald Trump's former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen will be sentenced this morning in two cases, one brought by the southern district of New York and another by the special counsel's office. He has pled guilty to eight counts from the southern district, including to campaign finance violations to cover up Donald Trump's alleged affairs, New York prosecutors recommending a substantial prison term for his crimes a little less than three and a half years even considering his cooperation. The special counsel's office taking into account Cohen's. Crop ration- is essentially recommending no additional jail time outside of his sentence. In the New York case joining us now senior reporter at Vanity Fair and NBC news and MSNBC contributor, Emily, Jane, FOX. So emily. You've known Michael cone for a long time. You've spent a lot of time with him. And I'm just wondering as you've watched the arc of this. How how is he doing just on a human level on a personal level? I think that this is obviously a tough day. But it's one that he has prepared for. I think that people who know him people who've been waiting for this day who've spent time with him recently are sort of hoping for the best. But preparing for the worst is the way that it was put to me. And this is obviously an emotional day for someone who is close at this family who for years was blindly loyal to President Trump. And today he seeing that loyalty come back to haunt him. There are two things. I'm really looking forward today. I'll be in the courtroom. The first is what he is going to say in court now, I don't know what he's going to say. But he does have the opportunity to address the court in the last two times he was in court and did have that opportunity took it, and we learned pretty substantial things about the president the first time he that was the time where he stood up and said that the president directed him to make those payments to the women, and that was a big revelation, and that was something that was echoed by prosecutors in southern district of New York and their sentencing my last week and the site second time he stood up and said that when he did lied to congress that those lies because he was a loyal to the president because he wanted to stay in in connection with the president's message that he knew was so important to him. So I can I don't know what we will. We'll say today, but I think that it will be pretty important. And the second thing is there will be different legal strategy going forward at this is the end of one era of the culling southern and the main here of Conan's saga for the last year and a half. And what we will see is Davis who Michael Cohen brought on at the beginning of the summer to sort of his TV lawyer, even though that was a stunted Atlanta. Davis will no longer service his attorney going forward because a sentencing will be over. He will simply be an advisor to him advising him on when and if he decides to tell his story after the Miller report comes out. Heidi pris- villa? Emily. Michael has certainly provided invaluable information to the southern district. Prosecutors about individual one directing potential felonies. But as you mentioned, we're heading here into a second era. And there could be a second way of investigations here in the southern district of the Trump businesses specifically, I mean, this is really fertile stuff and cluding the foundation, including potential money laundering. Look at the tax story that the New York Times did about Trump evading taxes to what extent did Michael Cohen. Do you think based on your reporting based on everything that, you know, also provide sees and potential information about this second avenue of investigation that we could see take shape here. I know what he has. He has spent time with investigators in southern district of New York. And also the attorney general's office in New York who who are looking into particularly that Trump foundation his attorneys have. Said that he will continue to cooperate even after sentencing. So what he is already told them. I am sure has given them some information in those investigations. And what he may tell them going down the road could lead to more. Emily. Let me let me get you to possibly clarify something. I don't understand..
