Doc Rivers was set to take break, says he 'couldn't turn down' opportunity to coach Philadelphia 76ers

"A week after Doc rivers in the clippers parted ways the sixers introduced rivers as their new head coach yesterday docks that he wasn't willing to coach just anyone but the talent and Philly made it a tough opportunity to turn down. That was gonNA coach anybody I can tell you that I was ready to take a break and. It just depends on the team that was available, and if I thought that team in my opinion was ready to win. That excited me and when you look at these players as young players and their potential. The fact that they've had. So much success in some ways at the age is that they are already. And where I believe they can go for me is is a job you just couldn't turn down. and. That's why I'm here. Certainly a loaded roster Zach Thomas still here with us with Steven you're up first at the end of the day, which is the tougher Doda to coach. Do you think it's PG thirteen and? Or would you go in beat and Simmons for dot? To to me, it's a Koala MPG. It's a tough. It's a tough situation because of where they are in their careers. Your I if you are a wild linnet, you're a two-time champion, the two time NBA Finals MVP portly. You're a bit indifferent as a personality. You're very businesslike approach. You go out doing what you need to do as it pertains to doing your jobs your job but in terms of galvanizing the troops around you, that's not Hawaii. Limit is you search around you talk around NBA circles that's what you consistently here in the case of. Paul George Obviously Paul Georgia's one of the more talented you know two way players in the NBA. He's a star, but unfortunately in his postseason career particularly, this postseason that was not the case and if your doc rivers and you walked into that situation, you got guys the veterans they're established stars they've got set in their ways. They believe there's a certain way to do things and what have you, and as a result, it ended up being an incredible challenge particularly when you consider what doc rivers had to absorb once Leonard Arrive Kawhi Leonard Arrive. At once Paul George Wounded Forces the clippers to trade to form in order to acquire Paul George because that's the person that he wanted to play. He wanted to play with he was GonNa practice what he felt necessary use GonNa take games off in terms of game you know load management when he wanted to he was gonNA play when he wanted to during the regular season of course, always available during the players but all of these things assist to what makes life difficult for coach particularly when you have ownership making these kind of investments that's problematic in the case of New Philadelphia Yes embiid, and Ben Simmons are young. And you gotTa get a Ben Simmons to shoot the boy only attempted seven three point the entire season last year Joel embiid attempted one, hundred, seventy two. So one guy needs to get the pulse more and stop having this big backside on a on the perimeter and the other guy needs to develop a perimeter shot. So he could be much more of a formative formidable threat, but they both incredibly young they both got a lot of promise and a lot of future. Ahead of them and they able, you know they're trainable to some degree as opposed to be definitively set in their ways because they don't have any definitive set ways that has really really worked for them and I think that's the difference. That's why I'd say it's it's tougher to coach. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George at this stage particularly for Doc rivers and what he had to deal with last year with the clippers then it would be for him to coach Embiid. EMBIID. And Ben Simmons.

Sources -- Doc Rivers agrees to five-year deal to coach Philadelphia 76ers

"That brings us to the Philadelphia Seventy sixers very quickly. This deal comes together Asia, was your Aska dropping the bomb. It seems like it took about two minutes. The sixers are interested in Doc rivers have a phone call great year available done twenty one seasons one tuttle with the Celtics coach of the magic and the clippers as well. Some people love because he's a great communicator and maybe he's the guy that can motivate embiid and Simmons the knock against him is that maybe he's a little bit overrated. Too much of a players coach, he's not tough enough and didn't get it done with the clippers. He's a lot of three one leads by the way he's blown in the playoffs, your thoughts doc running your sixers. You know I think you know I initially my reaction is I think doc is a little bit overblown as a coach You know I'm not sure I'm not sure you know how? Intense he is and where where he'll really take the team to but I do know this. I think he's a big figure and I think he's bigger than the two players at the sixers have to have on their team Simmons and beat doc is you know they can't challenge doc because docs bigger than they are even docs one he's played. He's done everything that the sixers wanted. So there's no more excuses for embiid. There's no more excuses for. SIDS, they have to kind of either buck up where they're going to have to figure out what they're gonNA do plus I think at least they brought somebody in from the outside that'll try to let them know that this is the way we're going to have to play, and this is what we have to do with our team. So you know they needed a big personality I would have preferred billy Donovan data didn't go in that direction because I think they probably thought Billy Donovan would be too hard ass on them, which is what I think they need but they got somebody that I think brings them some cachet and some clout and some real real. Respect that the players just can't walk over and they can't run to the owner. So at the end of the day that the balances I look at it, I'm okay with it I like it better than Mike Dantonio. I wasn't sure how that was ever GonNa Work I. Know Embiid I was talking to people in the NBA and they said embiid really wanted to Tony I didn't know how that was going to work but. I'll take it i. mean you know one thing in another month I'll be back full force for you know thinking they're going to win another title again right now I'm in a depression state I'll come out of it eventually and then I'll be fine and I'll be pretend like nothing happened I'm an idiot can I tell you

"Not only teaching. That's happening remotely for millions of students testing to and many colleges are using software to watch students take those tests, big providers, include respond, US, proctor, you and PROC. Some of them use webcams to track how? Students move their heads or is or touch the keyboard anything out of the ordinary flagged for teachers to review todd feathers recently co wrote a piece about a rebellion against this kind of surveillance for motherboard one concern false positives. Once you start the exam, they're all kinds of environmental factors that can lead to false positives. If you're a parent who has a child in the room, you're much more likely to be looking away from your screen or moving around than somebody who doesn't have A. Child in the room if you have adhd or some kind of anxiety disorder that's tied to taking tests, you're likely to exhibit behaviors that fall outside of the norm of other people in your class, and all of this can lead to being flagged as suspicious activity, and we have heard from students who have cried during tests because they're anxious about them. embiid flag alternatively I should say also heard stories from professors about students who go to all kinds of creative lanes to cheat from home. And have been caught as a result of using the cast off wear. So you talk to students who are really worried about privacy surveillance the potential for people to sort of fall outside the spectrum of what the Algorithm thinks is normal behavior. But not in fact, be cheating. You also spoke with a student of color who couldn't even take the test because the software didn't recognize his face. This is a problem that is not just related to this kind of software. A lot of these digital proctoring vendors don't create their own facial recognition technology. They are licensing it from other companies that specialize in s in facial recognition has been shown over and over again in different settings to not be good at recognizing people of Color, not be as good at recognizing women and to struggle to the point of absolute failure when it comes to people who don't identify one gender or another. What are the companies says about these criticisms I mean some students have protested the use of these the software campuses how have the company's reacted? Directed with a response that is pretty common across a lot of different technologies, applications of technologies, which is it. This software is a tool the company's give it to universities and two professors, and all they're doing is providing a quicker more efficient way for professors to identify possibly suspicious moments during an exam. There has been a lack of response directly to the criticisms about the invasion of privacy and about the way that it can negatively affect people who are underprivileged or from certain ethnic backgrounds. Right. Now, we're, of course in this moment where a lot more college students and students in Pre K. through twelve are at home taking online classes if and when we all get to get back together again, do you see these companies continuing to thrive and they're being an enough demand? A million dollar question I think that it's a pretty fair to say that once students are back in classrooms of all types this will not be quite as widely used as it is now but that being said, some of these companies are looking for other ways to expand. Their customers for example, Puck Toro has a recently announced a partnership with McGraw Hill, textbook maker to integrate its services into some of those online textbooks, and there are certain kinds of assessments, assessments for certain professional certifications such as nursing, which do require as part of state laws that the exams be proctored, and so if those aren't taking place in a physical room or even if they are, but there's the option to do it online. A space where tools like this are not only a possibility there arguably required by law.

Can I Move a Blue Spruce Now?

"We have a blue spruce growing in our garden. It's about two feet tall is it okay to move it now or should I wait until next spring? either. At two foot is just about a prime time. Now in that you have likely not root, Prune that plant or or or young plant Take. A sufficient amount of route with it whether you do it in this fall or next spring I'm inclined on spruce to say go ahead and get it done now if it was pine. Just for General Information I. Wait Until Spring, and move it just before gross starts that there's just a difference in in the tolerance for handling etc But as a spruce goes, I would say anytime now through into the Thanksgiving toward Christmas time because the plant is essentially done making food for this year. So it would it should move without too much problem and or early. March. Through into the very early part of April would be another good time in the spring. So if if football schedules yet you down this fall, you've got spring to work with when there isn't a football game to be watched and any special care once you have that that blue spruce transplanted will yes and let's just say that Theoretically you could go out and dig it and move it. Now today if you did you need to water today, you plan it next day and then wait a week and water heavily again so that you've water three times in that first week. Now then. assuming fall is anywhere near normal. We will have rains we will have cooling all of which slows down growth, but the soil is still warm and we're after route growth on that transplant embiid spruce as we're speaking of or other plants. So you need to water not to the point of drowning by any means, but I would say that every ten to fourteen days in this case, a bucket of water sprinkling handful of water would would be sufficient clear into the period past Thanksgiving because the soil as far as the plant is concerned is still warm. It's probably fifty five or sixty degrees at this point good for growth good for growth good for transplant. Just don't let them go dry.

NBA Campus Intel: Lakers' Offensive Woes Continue in the Bubble

"Thing about the bubble is I think it's GonNa. Be Really hard to execute your primary offense. If you will 'cause is way more indepth scouting of every team because you can literally go and see those teams in the bubble and they're all on TV and you have plenty of time to. Track things and check things out may make for uglier place more physical playoffs where these games, the defense sometimes is optional for much of the game. But I I guess I'm not a sold in Lakers and clippers and bucks even though I still think the Lakers clippers and bucks will be the Ford. Three of the fourteen remaining obviously the one thing with it's it's interesting as Ben? Simmons tweaks his knee right where you start to think to yourself wait I thought that that Joel embiid was going to be the injury plagued. One Simmons was one who had the back back issue before Kovic shut things down and now he tweaks a knee. Meanwhile, you got embiid who doesn't seem to be happy with anybody. Such a talent team but one that doesn't seem to have the ability to kind of get right but dude embiid is so talented. WHOA. So crazy talented I do think generally in the NBA now the jazz shake Milton playing the point gives them a viable scoring weapon I still like him on not nearly as much if Ben Simmons but you know they do al Horford but it would. Philadelphia 76ers beat Wizards 107-98; Simmons leaves with knee injury

"Other wizards lost again to the Philadelphia seventy. SIXERS affiliate takes that one, one, seven, ninety, eight, also the big news from that game scholars. You know it's not that Philly won the game I anticipated that that would happen of the big news was that their star guard or I. Guess. Now, if their star power forward, Ben Simmons left the game in the third quarter with an injury to his left, knee. Yes. So they already got. GOT 'EM. Orion. A said, it was clear I. Don't understand this one because it doesn't like something happened, and when you come down and really you didn't get hit I, maybe got hit a couple possessions go and he finally felt at that point. That's a scary moment for Philadelphia because you know non contact injuries to the knee like I'm nothing he towards ACL I. Don't think he did that at all but I just I I do think that you know Know Ben Simmons had the injury with the back. He's come back. He's had this like a weird year. That's like, I think now I'm looking at the heat, I'm looking at the Pacers and the Philadelphia Seventy sixers don't that would be the team that I think like Boston or even I never going to go to Milwaukee and probably not gonNA go to Toronto. Abby Wambach: If you're not a good leader on the bench, you cannot call yourself a good leader on the field.

"Hey everyone. This show might sound a bit different today because we're skimming from three different couches. The scam is still working from home for the time being because of covid nineteen. Today, we have a very special guest joining us abby Wambach is here with us on skin from the couch she is a two time Olympic gold medalist, a FIFA World Cup champion, and a member of the national soccer hall of fame. Also, she hasn't slowed down in retirement she is now a New York Times. Author and equal pay activists. We I had the pleasure of meeting abby when we spoke to her wife, Glennon Doyle on the show in March and we dragged her onto the podcast as well, and if you haven't listened to that episode, go check it out. It's a good one abby. Thank you so much for joining us today. Welcome to skin from the catch. Yeah. Thanks for having me. I'm so thrilled and honored to be with you all on three different couches. Thou-. Before. We jump into our first question I have to tell you I was looking at our prep for this and there was one bullet in here. That has really made me laugh as I have to share it, which is that you used to have a special card that got you a free Burrito a day from AAA but it stopped working when you're retired that seems passive aggressive for sure to Poli what the F.. Yeah. So when I first got this card, it was Gosh I must've been ten years ago now and you know like the gold cards portly for life like essentially my name is on it and you guys don't know how I go way back. From the early days and I mean I would get a Burrito. Day You guys we're both creatures of habits. I respect this. Yeah. It was crazy and this is before we really knew how many calories were in each burrito. Bowl that I would make or Burrito early days. and. So then yeah, of course when I retired, I was super excited to still be able to get one free Burrito a week for year, but they never really checked up on it but then I think when I got a family when I married Glenn and attained. That you know fifteen dollar meal. Turned into a sixty five dollar meal or seventy dollars meal for the whole family and pull was like I. Don't know if we're GONNA keep floating this for her so. It was a good run while it lasted I'm sorry that you've struggled with that but I did make me laugh as read. So, we're going to jump into our very first question. We'd like to ask everybody it just skim your resume skin my resume. It's so funny because when you retire, that's like that's essentially what I've had to do over the last four or five years of my life since retiring from playing on the national team, and if people don't really know I played for a long time on our women's national team. So Ski. My life I'm the youngest of seven children I grew up in Rochester New York, and I went to the University of Florida and played soccer there for four seasons where after I was drafted number two by the way just remember this folks you don't get drafted number one. You can still succeed I was drafted number two out of college to go play for a team called The Washington freedom the best player in. The world at the time. Mia. Hamm played on that team and it really changed my life because we were able to develop a connection that then transferred into me getting called into the national team and playing on the national team in scoring goals in the national team, and then I had a pretty long career representing his country won a gold medal. I want a couple of medals actually I won a fee. For Women's World Cup. World. Cup. I should say it doesn't matter if you're a guy or girl that's pretty awesome in my retirement I have kind of taken on this activism role that when I play ironically when I played I was a little bit more like just go and do my job and we were going to show our activism rather than talk about it. But when you quit playing, you gotta actually transfer that. Because I can't play anymore I can't show it in the ways that I used to. So I've transitioned into becoming a public speaker and an activist and apparent and wife, and that is my skin. Has a great skin? What is it like to be really good at something where young 'cause I have? No clue. Yeah I mean it's confidence building you know I felt like. Okay. I know that I'm good at this thing over here but I think you know all of us have our little things right? Like no matter what kind of. Place we grew up or family we grew up in or what kind of trauma we we experienced as a child because we all do some of US feel like we're unlovable my case in particular some of us were neglected. Some of us were over parented like we all have problems inside of our family dynamics that for me really allowed me to and gave me the courage to propel in this kind of an individualistic career. So when I was young I kind of was a very big risk taker. I was a free spirit is what they called me, I think that's what they call children who don't follow the rules as much as their parents want them to and I think that the other side of that coin is I was really trying to get the attention of my parents, right. So the very thing that might have felt trauma or hardship from in my childhood is the very thing that made me successful. So I have to always remember that like as much as I as young as seven children. As much as all of us wanted the attention of our parents, I do think that kind of parent team actually shaped me and and allowed me to explore this competitiveness inside. In this drive and this embiid to go after what I needed and what I wanted. So I give a lot of credit to that form of parenting into that trauma

The Horned Helm

"Hey welcome to stuff to blow your mind. My name is Robert Lamb and Joe. McCormick and today. We're doing the horned helm. This is going to be one of our essentially one of our invention themed episodes, but I decided. You know we really need to come back to armor, and the best place to start with armor is really the helmet I think the helmet is one of these wonderful things to consider because on the one hand, there is the more sort of combat, centric and medieval. And even fantasy idea of a Hillman Sifi. Fantastic with the concept, but at a very basic level, I feel like we all have some experience wearing a helmet taking this bit of artificial exoskeleton, slipping it over our own skull, and then enjoying its protection. Do you remember the scene in cone heads? Where it? It is revealed that Dan. Ackroyd Cohen Head Bell Dr Enjoys driving a motorcycle, but he's not a fan of helmet laws. No I. Don't remember this. Does he have a? A weird helmet or he just he can't wear human humans. I would imagine that's the source of his frustration. Because seems seems like bell. Dr Is actually normally pretty much rule follower, but but yeah he doesn't like the helmets, and I think it's probably because he has to get one custom made man. I haven't seen that in forever, but I do remember it had a really fun. Stop Motion Monster towards the end. Yes, yes. Bell Dr Scott to fight one with his Gulf skills. It also has a great line that for some reason is is just used for all occasions around our house, which is your phone is too young. Well, you know I. Don't remember if they wore helmets in that at all the more like space centric cone heads, but I feel like there was some sort of a horned crown that one of the more yeah I think. That's right so one of the we're. We're going to be discussing helmets in general, but but one thing that we're also going to discuss. Here is the idea of the horned helm a helmet with horns on it. It's it's an ancient motif in human civilization, and it ties into some earliest ceremonial practices. Practices and models of imaginative thinking. There's also do something so elegant about the idea thing that may be worn upon the head, and in doing so transforms the individual from a mere human into something, symbolically different a hybrid of human embiid. He's channeling the archaic chaotic gods of the Hunt. Oh Yeah I mean it's very therapy. It's what you see in those ancient cave paintings that so exciting when you start to see the human and the animal forms join together, suggesting fantastical thinking it's clearly there in the horned helmet as well. And and and so when you see these ancient motifs, one example that I was looking at before we came in here today. Was Robert Familiar with the the Sutton? Hoo Helmet? Oh, yes, yes, the sudden new helmet I. Had Papa Picture of it, but I this is one of these that I remember from an early age seeing perhaps on the cover of National Geographic, but it was certainly featured in some sort of Historical Book that I had access to his a kid. Yeah, it's just spectacularly creepy with these hollow is the way the mustaches rendered on the the plate of the face covering. I think it also had leather component when it was actually worn, but it's this decorated Anglo. Saxon helmet from I think it was from the seventh century. was buried in this in this ship burial somewhere in east. Anglia and I've actually seen this up close. And there are replicas of it that are really cool, because they reproduce the artwork that would have been originally visible on the sides, and although it's got all these panels over it, basically, it's a helmet covered with like comic strips, and in all the little panels there are scenes depicted in. In one of them shows these figures will like human shaped figures with horns, apparently wearing some kind of horned helmet. Oh, also evidence of Hornet helmets on a helmet. Yes, wonderful, yes, but it doesn't necessarily show the the characters wearing horned helmets say going into battle it appears to have more kind of a ritual religious significance surrounding the horns. Yes, in in this seems to be basically underlying the earliest versions of of this you know horned helmets go back thousands of years as far back as a twelfth century. See we see this in Cyprus Bronze Age Europe. and. The generally the idea is that yeah, this probably has its origins in in against symbolic tinkling thinking and ritual, and the idea that you're transforming. You're becoming something else. Which of course has a role in combat as well in a row and intimidation sort of role in the basic? behavior of making yourself look larger than you are. But, but then there's also this. Imaginative. "Joel embiid. That's where we started was. Addressing the media. This week and this is what he said about Cova and going into the bubble amount of big fan of the idea, but then again. You know going to my job. I'm not GonNa let the city down. Oh, I'm GONNA go on. A city. That's what I've always. my family. My teammates. So. He's gotTa The monster doesn't change on. ME. Yet for lot of these guys. Thank God for Video Games. they not everybody even goes out anymore. A lot of guys just stay in the room and play games so Kendrick Perkins. I think this was on the jump. Address, say say one more time I take I. Take on, I take. This is what he said about Joel. embiid look, do you. WanNa Hoop or not? I don't none of the other contenders complain. Lebron James Lineker Plane I. Don't hear Jason Tatum. Janas complaining and they. Is How they go to defending champion soup. I don't see them complain there by the way they got a tournament. That's going on right now. In Cleveland, Ohio and I'm pretty sure those guys are not gonna be the bubble or they in great situation. They not complaining. They don't know who I don't WanNa yell to me. This is just the do. Get knocked out. This is going to be excused because they're super. Saw was halfway in his mill, wasn't there? I don't know I don't like the ideal. Loop. Here, they're madison billion dollar. Ball. Beverly say. Unfair criticism I love Kendrick Perkins, but that's completely unfair printed. Criticism you're allowed to be. In and we're seeing this throughout sports. You're allowed to be tentative about what's going on, but we all are at this point right, but what's constructive about saying I, don't really WANNA play, but I'll do it. What type of message does that? Send to your teammates to your fans, but he's. Is he not concerned about safety? Isn't that what he's going for? Isn't that what he's talking about? I, don't know. What he said Yeah isn't everyone concerned about safety like him, saying that just kind of like a bad look I feel like. How do you think his teammates? But what should've stream that and what might crop set? Kendrick Perkins Point is if you feel strongly about it, then do it. Avery Bradley. Do what Dover's protons is doing. Do whatever reasons don't you think a lot of these guys are going to try it out? See how it goes, and if it's not going well, they're going to drop out. The Congolese Doctor Who Discovered Ebola

"At the beginning of an epidemic, it's essential to discover the source of the disease. For scientists who do that work, it's extremely challenging and without risk to their own health. But the scientists who played an essential role in discovering bulla way back in nineteen, seventy six doesn't always get the credit he deserves in today's episode. We explore the history of a bowl and the consequences of scientific exploitation. It's part of our week of episodes here on the show celebrating and recognizing the contributions of black scientists enjoy. You're listening to shortwave. From NPR. Safai here with none other than NPR East Africa correspondent Ater, Peralta Hey there ater. Hey, Mattie, thank you so much for talking to us all the way from Kenya. I know there's like an eight hour time difference. I am thrilled. But I want to open with a quick question. Who discovered Ebola and do not Google it. First of all. How dare you asked me a question? I should definitely know the answer to, and don't and yeah I already, Google Bet. Came up was. A Belgian microbiologist, but I think you're about to tell me. There's more to this there. Absolutely, there always is right so. Cheated. What you probably saw is a bunch of white westerners like. Dr John Jack. Yembeh does not yeah. He was not one of the people that came up. Yes, so, he's Congolese doctor and today he's doing really important work heading up the response to the current Ebola outbreak in Congo, but back in nineteen, seventy six, we embed. First doctor to. COLLECT ANY BOLA sample. His crucial role in discovering Bolla is often just a footnote, a lot of the history of people. Has Been Written? Without your name. Yes but. You know this Yes it. Did Not quite. Today on the show correcting the record on a Bola, the story of Dr, John Jack Mugabe and what he's doing now to ensure African scientists are part of writing it's. To some in the medical community, it's a controversial move. Okay Ater, so we're talking about a Congolese Dr John, Shaq. And his role in discovering a bola. When do we begin? So when I sat down with him at his office in Kinshasa. He said we should start in. Hundred seventy three. We had just gotten his PhD microbiology at the Riga Institute in Belgium, and he could have stayed in Europe, but he decided to come back to Congo, but when I arrive via. The condition of work were not I had no lab have no. Mice for experimentation, so it was very difficult to work here. Yeah, it's tough to do lab work without a lab, you know. Without a library to instead he took a job as a field epidemiologist and just a couple of years later in Nineteen seventy-six. was sent from Kinshasa the capital of Congo to the village of Yambuku to investigate a mysterious outbreak. it's the first recorded outbreak of Ebola, but no one knew that at the time they thought maybe it was typhoid or yellow fever, and he goes to this local hospital, and he says he finds it completely empty. Why was nobody there? Local residents thought the hospital was the source of the infection and people had died there. But in the morning when they heard Giambi was sent from the capital, the thought he had medicine till they started to come back to the hospital, and we started seeing patients. So so, what's he seeing? When the patients come in, he was seeing. People who were very weak fever? They had headaches I started to to make the physical time. But at that time will have no gloves. And, of course he had to draw blood, but when I removed. They're the sit inch. Both continue to spread out. What I am to see these phenomenal. And also my fingers or with a bow. Wow. Yeah, so he says he he would wash his hands a lot, but really he says it was just luck that he didn't catchable. Yeah, definitely I mean. That's amazing that he's in there and there's no gloves and there's patients and they don't really know what's going on, and he was able to not get it in at this point. We MP he was startled. But then three nurses died that night and a Belgian nun who was working in the village, also got sick with fever. All the nuns had been vaccinated against typhoid and yellow fever. So at this point me MBA was like. Oh, it's probably not those things. Yeah! I mean in the severity to the deaths with this outbreak. He started to realize that this was something different, so he. He convinced one none took back to Kinshasa with him. So what happens next? She died at a hospital a couple of days later, but he took blood samples, and he sent them to Belgium for testing and the guy on the other end that was Peter Piot. Who at the time was with the Institute for Tropical Medicine in Belgium, the guy who turned up from Google search. Yeah. That's right, and so he and other scientists start working to identify the culprit. The CDC in the US gets involved and the realize. This is a new virus that caused hemorragic. Call it Ebola. They name it after a river by the village where it was discovered. So, what you saw out in the field, the blood samples guide all of this plays a crucial role in the history of right. It was huge, but it's PR who gets the bulk of the credit for discovering all up and you can tell this bothers John Jock membe. If you don't recognize the work done in the field, I, it is not correct. it is a team. You know it is a team. Pr Actually wrote a memoir no time to lose and he does mention. But just in passing as a bright scientist, whose constantly pestering him for more resources. Has talked about this well. Peter Pyatt, facetime video, so I got on the phone. He's now the director of the prestigious London, School of Hygiene and tropical medicine and I asked him if he felt at all responsible for writing. Out of his history of Ebola I think that's a comment, but my book less not an attempt to write than that's history of Boll and sold more. My personal experience is more biographies that sense. Was this kind of like an awkward conversation to have ater. Yeah I mean especially because he's Belgian and Belgium was the colonial power in Congo. Ultimately, he looks at it with a little bit of distant. That at the time African scientists they were simply excluded and white scientists parachuted in they took samples, wrote papers that were published in the West and they took all the credit he so he actually said he did. In that actually surprised me and I think. Part of the reason. I feel that he so comfortable. Talking about this is because he's in an academic setting. I think in universities across the world. Students are talking about privilege, so he seems like he is very comfortable having this conversation right now. I mean there's there's something very weird kind of about that coming from him right as a person who has admitted to taking part in exploitative science, absolutely and one of the good things is that he says that things are changing. We mbappe for example has received several international awards just recently for pioneering. The first effective treatment for Ebola reflects our stinky you. Say the politicians in global health in science, General. So okay. I want to ask you about the treatment in a minute, but to put it very bluntly. Have there actually been any concrete steps to try to change this power dynamic in the global health field? Because this is certainly not one of you know two stories. This is one of many many stories. There is I mean look. NBA has made a decision that many thought unthinkable leaving just a few years ago, he decided that all of the blood samples collected during this most recent Ebola. Epidemic will stay in Congo, so if anyone wants to study this outbreak, they will have to come to his institute. I bet that has ruffled some feathers though. I have I've heard from some American scientists. Who have privately expressed frustrations in the are really the ones who have led the way in studying Ebola, but peanut understands that decision when you think about how African scientists have been historically treated, and he says that Western scientists should just get over it. We have to wake up key things one. The world is changing too much endless Nah it's so weird to hear him say a matter of fairness, ater matter of fairness. Okay, so before we move on, tell me about the treatment that Mugabe worked on. So this is the thing that makes him smile right. We embiid calls it the most important achievement of his life, and it goes back to one thousand, nine, hundred, five during another equal outbreak in Congo. Eighty one percent of people infected with Ebola in this village were dying, and he wondered if antibodies developed bipolar survivors could be siphoned from their blood and used to treat new cases, so he gave sick patients transfusions of blood from a bowl of survivors. Too He injected Ebola patients with the blood of survivors. It vision. And seven survive, he says the medical establishment brought him off because he didn't have a control group. That's what they told him. But if this idea was accepted by scientists. We see a lot of life. Okay I mean to be fair. That is a really small group with no control among some other stuff. But on the other hand, it doesn't mean that he was wrong. You know that it should be totally dismissed, and maybe if more scientists looked into, it collaborated with him, maybe tried to replicate that data in some way, they could have learned something with him right because we now know that he was in fact correct about the antibodies. Yeah, I mean that's right in the context is important because I think what really eat set him. Is that maybe lots and lots of people could have been saved during the West. West Africa outbreak, which happened from two thousand, thirteen to two, thousand sixteen, and look just this year that science became the foundation of what is now proven to be the first effective treatment against the Bulla that is saving seventy percent of the people who are treated with amazing. Is He getting credit for that? At this point, he is yeah, absolutely okay, so how does look back on all of this week? What's what's his view on this is so he's he seventy seven, so he's obviously thinking about his legacy. One of the things that he told me is that he's always dreamed that big science could come out of Congo, and partly because of him, that's more likely happen. He got a commitment from Japan to build a state of the art research facility in Kinshasa and in the lab, just a few feet from his office where we talked US scientists were using advanced machines to sequence DNA of the Bulla samples that have to stay here in Congo Okay so moon bay, doctor and scientists who started in the Congo with no lab has a lab and is soon getting an even better one to do his work. Yeah, exactly, yeah, now I have my share. In. So I have my I have. A good subculture will bring joy. But he also has vice rate with micro biologist without Nice, I, asked myself that every day. And, so you know what he says, his biggest legacy won't be that. He helped to discovery or cure for it. It'll be if another young Congolese. Scientist finds himself with an interesting blood sample. He'll be able to investigate it

Why is this Peruvian farmer suing Germany's largest power company RWE?

"So. You're bad to make a Peruvian Pharma. WHO's suing Germany's largest power company W? A this is a heist could radically disrupt debate over climate action and week you'll also hear from our wwl representatives in a rare interview about the controversial case. Germany's shutting down all power stations over the next twenty years, so it does that mean for the transition of business. And he gone to meet the man who has become a thorn in the side of fossil fuel companies because he's dredging up their own data to challenge them. This is climate in the courtroom pot one. Murder. He decided to do this to just show himself and his children that if there is an injustice you can act upon. or It is like a coal. Companies surely won't even feel since they are so wealthy. We need to start from somewhere. The fend ourselves. Another goal. Record. No nobody's asking to shut up shop. We know that this transformation will take decades on the corporations can lead that effort transforming companies from simply providing liquid fuels for example. To invest in carbon capture sequestration to invest in offshore wind, for example particularly in the rich, western, world, concluding Australia where the preponderance of historic emissions have enabled our economies to grow wealthy. We need to decarbonised faster than the developing world so that they can have a chance. Proper development as well. What is the concern of people who live on islands where the water level rises? What is the concern of people who suffer from hurricanes that haven't been there before? Their concern is that greenhouse gases must be reduced greatly of course, our responsibility as a power generator through reduce your to emissions, and that's what we're doing. Closing down power stations, investing into renewable supporting co two targets, also the embiid ones porting energy transition. Third episode where taking you to the Philippines for human rights showdown over climate change that's commanding attention, even in the face of president deterred has discords for drug uses and jailing of journalists, but first. Can You Train Yourself to Become Ambidexterous?

"The. World is made up of about ninety percent of right handed people and ten percents, left-handed people folks who are truly ambidextrous, those who use their right and left hand equally well make up a negligible sliver of the population, but is ambidextrous, inherited or learned, and if learned, can it be learned as an adult? We spoke of email with Dr Sebastian. Auckland Berg a professor of psychology at Ruhr University and BOCOM Germany. He said a little bit of both. And this is determined by about twenty five percent, genetic factors and seventy five percent, non genetic factors like environmental influences. It clearly runs families, so it is somewhat inherited, but learning might also affect it I think amdex steady for a specific task. like hitting a tennis ball with the racket is possible, but full embiid extremity for all tasks is unlikely. Handedness being the skill in comfort, a person feels using one hand, or the other is considered a complex genetic trait, and since genes are involved hand, preference develops before a person's even born, but like other complex traits handedness including ambiguity extremity doesn't have a simple pattern of inheritance. Yes there is a greater chance. The children of left-handed parents will also be lefthanded than righties, but remember the chance of being a lefty is just ten percent overall, so most children have lefties are still right handed. An identical twins are more likely than non identical twins to both be either right or left handed, but many of both types do have opposite hand preferences, and that's before we even talk about whether a child's handedness is allowed to develop naturally or whether parents and teachers interfere. Hand dominance typically develops around age three and fully developed by age four to five, but it can be influenced by insisting a child uses their other hand, or by happenstance for example when he was four years old, former major league baseball pitcher Billy Wagner broke his right elbow and spent the summer in a cast. In his memoir Wachner victory recalls being a natural righty at the time and already mad for baseball, but for the next six weeks he threw only left-handed when the cast came off, he was in for a surprise when he tried throwing with his right, the ball went nowhere had lost not a strength of coordination for throwing with his right arm and gained it in his left. Wagner wrote. I was a natural righty then and still am I do everything right handed eat told tools right start lawnmower everything except pitch. Wagner wouldn't be considered ambidextrous though he's certainly managed to have an incredibly successful career working with his non dominant hand. Baseball is full of players who switch hit meaning. They hit equally well from either the left or right side, and are comfortable, facing left or right handed pitchers, some like hall of Famers, Eddie Murray Mickey Mantle and Chipper Jones were successful, but they like. Wagner weren't truly ambidextrous. Which is something? That's very difficult to do, but why the? Lindburg said headedness is something that is generated in the brain, not the hands as such. The half the brain contra lateral to the hand is better in controlling fine motor movements for example, the left brain hemisphere in right handers. The strength of this preference varies between individuals. Some people have a very strong preference for one hand, and resulting from that greater issue in using the other for specific tasks, so it's the brain that sets the barrier. But if the brains, that's the barrier. The brain can also remove it. Take the case of Billy McLaughlin. McLaughlin is an award winning guitarist known for a unique style of play, placing both hands on the Fredbord, Originally predominantly a right handed guitar player, but in the late nineteen nineties despite having a record at number seven on the billboard. He was struggling with control problems. He was missing notes when he played an experienced muscle spasms to the point that he was unable to perform. Finally in two thousand one McLaughlin was diagnosed with focal Dystonia, a movement disorder, causing muscles to contract involuntarily, though advised to find another career McLaughlin opted to teach himself to play left handed and he succeeded. So this begs the question. Can we teach ourselves to become ambidextrous as adults? A two thousand seven study found that as we age, we actually become more ambidextrous without even trying in part because the hands that we use more loses. Its dominance of the study was small. It included sixty participants all strongly right handed according to the Edinburgh handedness inventory, the participants completed various computerized dexterity tests, which included line tracing and aiming task and tapping the youngest group average age, twenty five years performed all the skills proficiently using their right hand, the Middle Age participants average age fifty years performed well using either hand on the gaming task while the two oldest groups average ages, seventy and eighty years performed just as well using either hand on all tasks except one. However overall performance appeared to decline with increasing age especially for the participants dominant hand, leading researchers to believe that quote, we become more ambidextrous as we get older because dominant hand loses its superior dexterity, and becomes more like are weaker hand. Some people have wondered whether attempting to become ambidextrous could strengthen the brain and potentially slow or fight the effects of aging or dementia Allen Berg said that's a myth, while it is true in general that brain training is a good idea when aging research has shown that what at strengthened is what is trained, so if I trained to write with my non dominant hand, this would affect the motor brain areas of the contra lateral half the brain, but not the areas involved in memory. Thus a specific memory training would make more sense in aging and dementia.

"You explain how your role has evolved between tether and embiid Phoenix and kind of wary? You currently sits. Because there's some confusion over the organizational structures. We didn't have to get into the banking and and kind of creation and asset component of it but But where do you spend most of your time on the infrastructure is on the other side or is this just a but the discrepancy? That doesn't really exist. In fact it's more just a organizational chart issue so you know I my exp- by have a really good expertise also in insecurity. So that is one of the reasons why in two thousand sixteen I was asked to stepping us with your Phoenix so I steal mine. I would say to. Let's let's talk about Tether I because it's just seen absolute explosion in volume and in new creation particularly or last quarter. So there's there's two things that I think we've talked about. One is the transition that started people. Forget only about a year ago Between Omni tether and then the RC and crx tether which are in been the case now trae USD this now traded and and And held on the theory of blockchain is Over five billion now which is larger than us DT on Omni ever was I think even units peak which round. Yeah three billion this transition. That really only happened last year. Can you talk a little bit about what ultimately led to the migration to a theorem? Might sound like an obvious question answer but but not only what led to that but also the decision making process for when to flip the switch because on the one hand. It's obvious there's a ton of develop activity. There's a ton of interest in those certainly. The capabilities are C- Tokens to salted a type of transferring creation. "Malcom gladwin is a stone cold genius who loves A grade sports argument. I went onto bill. Simmons podcast and I had this totally ludicrous thing that I want to talk about. Which was I was like? Could a basketball team made up of Nigerians? An all time basketball team made up of Nigerians be the greatest basketball time and then I ended it. I amended until as I said all right I have to corollaries one is. I'm going to add west Indians because almost Indians not all mostly I'm Jamaican. Where am I what am I people from? We're from originally like I'm Ibo right most Jamaicans cable so I add the Caribbean and then I said and just refund. That's also add the rest of Southern Africa and then I construct the students. Tony Ridiculous Caribbean so busy. I say out can Africa and the Caribbean put together an all time team. It's better than an african-american team a euro team at a white American team. It's the third one. Maybe not. The answer is yes. We don't have time to do this but I will convince you. I can't convince you to Africa and the Caribbean in basketball. All Time team and also your co you qualify by or Nigeria. Will I started? I start with all of ethnic did not all? I'm only adding. I added Southern Africa. 'cause I WANNA have Steve Nash and Joel Embiid on my team. Wade Steve Nash. Born in Johannesburg. He's Canadian. No my rule is that you. Are you qualify? Virtue of your parents. Place a birth. So get all of Steve. Nash Who Play Thompson. Really? He's Bamyan are are are taking. Tim. "I don't believe he was last season but I also blamed this but it has this. When I'm saying can I can I? Can I just make sure let me make my Tom Brady? Should be fearful. Patrick Mahomes if Tom Brady got to play with the talent he at play with last year but if the brother got some weapons then let's go Stephen Adams. What kind of weapons brady goes to the fight with either way? He's going to fight with weapons and Mahomes is going to bring out a bazooka because he has jumped. Elsie for twenty man. Gretchen MAZUR question master question. What was that you watch the Super Bowl? I was watching the fourth quarter homes. Look he looked average for Patrick. Mahomes for the most important. Who Are you confident? That or the fourth commandment. I didn't play that man. You want to ignore a come from behind. Win is a quarter of the sloop talking. And you'RE GONNA ask a question hands on request to me is to meet. A brother was up. The brother was down ten. Patrick mahomes that stood here. He comes out sorry. Didn't we come on national television? Not just off route tape but on get up for for for St Get. Us got us up you want to talk about. What is your run the football more? How come he didn't do this? How come you didn't do that? Is the same the prime hold on the primary playcalling Atlanta the play call last this past season the San Francisco? That's outscored forty to nothing. Have Patrick Mahomes. Is the weapon plants. Here Tom Players make big time play time elements. He's a big MACs. All right we gotta we got fiery Taibbi average traveling. I've been called Walk Right. We gotta go. I'll go to break yards. Joe Thank you. I talk to them any way. Similar to the SIXERS BEGIN. A four-game west coast road trip against the Clippers on Sunday without Ben Simmons and now without Joel embiid after the Philly. Big Man injured his shoulder in Wednesday night's game against the cavs a source told that EMBI will be reevaluated. In a week the sixers are ten and seven without embiid this season. So Max I will start with. You is it. Is it time for the sixers to move on from him? Beat yes I've been claiming this for a while now in the off season assuming Ben Simmons Health checks out if his back is okay and this is not going to be a chronic issue in other words if you think that Simmons Health holds up to the point where you can build around him. I've always thought that those Simmons and work very well together. They would each be better off with their own team built around specifically what they do and let me tell you why. I think it should be Simmons. Who's the best team in the NBA? Right now at least during the regular season. It's the Milwaukee Bucks. Simmons has a lot of things in common with the Greek freak including his defense. He's a better passer is better handles. Like he doesn't shoot it at all. The freak doesn't shoot well but at least he shoots it since shoot it at all and there are differences. The freaks a little bigger a little stronger but simmons can play the same way. Plus you know what's the problem with the free can tournament to a big you know when it matters most because he doesn't have the handles to get his own shop to the extent that Simmons does will develop a shot. Yes everything else is there including the defense and when I see the way they built around around the freak shooters everywhere second. Best Player on the team is Chris. Middleton you're not GonNa win with at least one more all star. Of course you need to know another all star but but you don't need a superstar with that style on the modern MBA. You can surround Simmons with smart shooters right and some big who can defend the RIM A and also shoot Brook Lopez and you can imitate what Milwaukee did with Simmons. Maybe even long run. If Simmons stays healthy better than Milwaukee's doing it if continues to develop envied I don't know because the modern game does not favor that kind of big or bigs period. I don't know that you can build around the quite as successfully and beyond that. The injury history troubles me Steven A. If Simmons Health checks out I think you can get a plenum for a player is excellent as embodied in the in the in the off season. I would do it and build a team around. Ben Simmons not only do. I think you're wrong. I think you're utterly insane Joel. Embiid is twenty five years of eighty seven feet. He's two hundred and fifty plus pounds. Tremendous footwork tremendous scoring ability. Averages twenty three right now has averaged twenty seven. Last season he can put the ball in a hole and he's only twenty five years old. I am not trading Joel. Embiid under any circumstances. I'm holding onto that brother. Because guess what he can shoot perimeter shots he can play in open court. He runs the break he finishes at the basket. I think he needs to be even better. Low Post and I think that's a direct result of Brit Brown's coaching more than anything else again. I'm not trying to catch the Spurs Brett Brown. Like I wanted to get five or something. I hope he's coaching the sixers for years to come. He's a good man. He's a good coach but I think he needs to be great. I think he needs to upgrade his capabilities in this cash as from a coaching standpoint with Joel Abi and Ben Simmons. Because I think that I think that if he were better as a coach they'd be better as players. It's just that simple to me. I'm not letting go of Joel. I don't find that every day. Not that skill set with that size edit age twenty five remember when Steph curry was playing. When he was younger he had these chronic ankle injuries. He was going through that okay. The Golden State Warriors prioritized doing everything that they could to make sure that his health would improve. I suggested Philadelphia. Seventy sixers invest in your medical staff. Do whatever necessary to get the dudes that are already there. Additional help whatever level of expertise you can muster do. Whatever you have to do to prioritize getting Joel embiid in peak health condition. That would be my priorities so I could keep him. I am not giving away that doom at age. Twenty five with that skill set. We'll ale no. I wouldn't either Ben Simmons Ben Simmons. I see that I feel the Super Bowl. Fidel I got you and they play very well together. You could see like. That's what makes them great when they're when they're on together if envied had a clean bill of health. If I believe I saw a giant embiid is not normal size and we know like the Lakers usually don't draft giants but they've had a bunch of the greatest big man ever because what they do is they let someone else. Draft those guys. And then they see through attrition right. Who's still standing when the contract comes up? Then they go grab Kareem or shack or trade for Pao or someone like that. They want to see who who holds up the rigors of being a big even in the modern MBA where. It's not as rough down low as it used to be. I don't trust EMBIID's health. I don't know that it will ever be to the point where he can fully exploited his potential. And I think you will get a premium for him for every reason. You just mentioned. He's totally excellent in a variety of ways. He should be the most well rounded center in the history of basketball light. He has that kind of package over seven feet. Big Body soft hands can can has moves in the post can defend the rim can shoot from the outside like can play defense. He's great he's totally great but I don't trust his health. And when I look at Ben Simmons and I look at the frequent what they're doing in Milwaukee every year at the company has gotten better and went as they built around him every year. The number went up till right. Now he has the highest PR in the history of the game right now. If the season ended today ahead of ahead of Jordan head of Lebron's best seasons like that's how effective it is to build around a guy like that and when I look at Simmons. He's kind of flatlined that way he his development hasn't been and and Simmons Package in certain. Respects is even better than the freak. What did I choose? What are the right players? You would put around Ben Simmons. If you were going to build a team around I mean just think of Milwaukee but make bledsoe a little better ideas about ideal. You WanNa put shooters around you. Want a big who can defend the rim and shoot. Doesn't have to be a great defensive player. Brooke Loop Lopez is a great example. Defendant remedy can shoot. You need to three like a wing player who hopefully can get his own shot and certainly shoot it. Everyone else has to be able to shoot it. Because Ben Simmons can but Stephen. You could get a hall for 'em beat in the off season a whole Stephen. First of all you can't. That's ridiculous you can't hold on is you can't do that after what the hell you just said. You can't go to all the suburban you just all the things that you just said about Joel B and then turn around and say you all form I mean if you feel that way about while let him go and if you don't know that we're about him because of his injury why would he get compensation for you're not GonNa get compensated for somebody that is injury prone that's number one number two out saying invest in the health of Joe L. A. B. Max. You just admitted on national television the other day that you're not going to give so much for him if his health is questionable. You said that so not today is different defense matters. That's why haven't been questionable. No I'll let you talk. I'll let you talk a long time. The bobby you're never GONNA at twenty five out. It was gives me a said that that's what you said the other day. You said quote. You're not going to get put so much. If Joel embiid continues to have question marks about his health right now. The value will decline if the health issues persist. Of course it's what you do it in the off season this off season what we still perceive the potential entity. Here's a question. If Joel healthy do you think he should? If he were healthy I said if if he were healthy Max would you still feel? He should be able no if I had confidence in his health. I WOULD WANNA keep 'em right okay but other teams but Stephen a teams who don't have a player as good as I'm beat in there a lot of them or willing sometimes oftentimes to take risks to acquire one even if they feel it's imperfect or comes with some red flags because if you don't have that kind of player you don't have a shot so there are teams out there if we could we'd have a shot now giving up stars to do it because if you lose. Joel you gotta get a star return. Yeah you can give up an all star to get what you feel like could be an MVP you get up and all star rotation peace draft pick if you think what's coming back as an MVP in life. There are talkers and there are doers. Sometimes it's not hard to tell the difference. Mike Bloomberg is spent his life getting beat things done starting his business a one room office. "Got yet more bad news regarding Ben Simmons yesterday. He reportedly has a nerve impingement in his lower back. As a result he's expected to now be sidelined for an extended period of time. He will be reevaluated. In two weeks there is little expectation. Though that he'll be close to return at that point. Nick is the sixers season basically in jeopardy or is now this embiid. It's time to go out there and own it and shine. Yes and yes yes. They're seasons in jeopardy. Their season jeopardy basically evidently since the season started when they did not take a leap forward and step instead they took a step or a step and a half backwards but yes also this is Joel. Embiid opportunity to show everyone. We can be better without Ben Simmons. Mb Better with a point guard or with a collection of players in return for Ben Simmons that better fit my very unique skill set in the modern NBA. That Simmons and embiid have been an awkward fit from the beginning because of Simmons refusal to shoot and because embiid even though he will take some three pointers is maybe our last remaining old school. Nba Center back to the basket. Give me the ball. I'M GONNA punish you on the post and so the fit has just been awkward. And we've seen that. Both guys have at times played their best basketball games. The other guy has missed playoffs last year. Maybe best game whose career was a game. Joel embiid was out. Joel embiid the highest scoring game of his career. Literally was the other night when Ben Simmons was out and so I think Antoine. With or without Simmons. This is not a championship level team. They have not played to that level anywhere close with through fifty five games while the bucks clearly have but it is an opportunity for Joel. Embiid to give the sixers. Maybe a sneak preview of what the team would look like if this offseason. They were to see what Ben Simmons could fetch on the open market. I believe that. Obviously they're not. They're not a team that can win win with either one of those guys together or without them. They're not going to be able to win. And these two conference. I think the fourth best team in the East I think obviously Milwaukee's better than the Celtics. Antonio I think all three of those teams better than them even when phillies whole Right now this is going to be opportunity. L. andbranch legitimate shot to really get take a really good sample size of what they all. Look like if Ben Simmons then play and I would look at it. I will take that approach. Because that's been the compensation that maybe these guys cannot 'cause this together so I will take a look at that and see if embiid could be the guy that you can build around and see if you can win with him that fourteen game five hundred. Just settling scores still out there. Tobias Harris a guy you pay big into free agency. You still have him. Obviously Josh Switches on team you made a great trade thought an ad and scorns the team without its birth and then Robinson added to other guys. That can score the basketball. So they're not they're not out of they're gonNA make the playoffs. They should be able to win a first round series without Ben Simmons Back Andrew. I take that very serious. I think this is something that you cannot rush rush back. This is a guy a franchise type player. So you don't want to rush him back just for this season so you gotta make sure he's healthy. But I do not believe when even with both of those guys that are fourth best team in the East and you got to be very cautious to bring a same as back a- and at times it's unfair we've said on this show before the single best in life in the NBA. Is the the non superstar on the Max contract because you get all the money with none of the pressure none of the criticism? We talk so much about Simmons and embiid. Tobias Harris has not played nearly up to the standards. They paid him to play at an Al Horford. That that move right now is one. They would like back the money they gave. Horford in the fit. But those guys are I. Don't WANNA say untradable with those guys are going to be on the team next season. So you do want to see what those two guys can look like with. Embiid there without Simmons but the the numbers are are jarring. As far as way win the sixers are at their best with with embiid without some between show him. I think within bead without Simmons with Simmons without embiid with both of them with neither so that's their margin that's their net rating with just embiid. That is a that is a great team as far as net rating with just Simmons. That's a good team with both of them. That's an average team and obviously with neither of them. It's a terrible team. You don't WanNa see the numbers like that that somehow they are the worst with both of them then with just one of the two it does speak to potentially a bigger problem also to add to that. I just think when you're to superstars in both of those guys are stars last year. Yep they didn't get better You know you gotTa You. GotTa sometimes you look in the mirror. Ben Simmons to shoot a jump shot. That's embarrassing you know. You had to add a jump shot you smith all summer. You got everybody filming. You shoot. Jump shots you only want to shoot. Won The game so let me ask you this then. There have been so many stops along the way where we're Ben. Simmons could have been like. Oh okay reality check or now. It's time for me to now. It's an off season. It's time for me to get better. I've gotten myself so far if Joel embiid goes out and carries this team and I know that the record coming up or their schedules schedule is going to be a little bit easy but say they go out and be great without Ben Simmons. Could that be a wakeup call? Could that be a a little bit of a gut check like listen? I got I got to step my game up if this is not where my future is looking at. This has been. The talk is the conversation L. Brent. They may have the sits may have no they don't trade it and neither one of them but I think if you WanNa trae one of them you get a good look at. I think it's just a fact you get an opportunity to look at it. Take a real good sample size and see what you like. If you WANNA take one or the other I will keep both of them. I will just hold both of them accountable. I think you have to have real talks with them and say if you WANNA get on to the next level. We got to continue to improve. That's everything when be continue working on his body getting better law he what. He's good and where he could be effective at his game. Ben Simmons has to develop some type of jump shot or at least attempt some type of Johnson for him to continue to get better so he can expand his game. You gotta put that pressure on them and these guys have been making all star teams. These guys are supposed to be getting you over the Hump and getting you back to the finals. And they're not making the right adjustments in their game. So it'd be interesting to see what what Philly does. But what's so odd is their first year together. They were a dynamic. On-court pair that the net rating that. I just showed when they're together is point. Nine less than one point was fifteen and a half plus fifteen half their first year together. The year they ended the regular season on that crazy. Winning streak seemed like a really dangerous team going into the postseason until I think it was the celtics knocked him out in the CA- yeah it was the Celtics in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs last year together. They were not as good as plus half but plus eight when they're on the court together this year to be plus one inch or two best players it makes no sense. Ginny. You say the reality check. Promise reality if you've been similar like well first year in the league. I'm the best rookie. My second year in the League I I make an all star team. Then I get a Max contract thirty in league all star again. I'm making Max money. Seems like what I'm doing is working here so it depends on what your what your ultimate goal is and what you measure success by. I think been someone who would sell. You Failed Never Tom. Brady's future now.

"The Opening Mama Sports Academy posted this amazing video of some of the very best players in the NBA working out with Kobe Bryant last asked week Scottie. I this is kind of amazing because Kobe was not the most loved by his peers but he was a player but it seems like this generation of Stars Stars and loves him yeah well. It's not about how you start. It's how you finish in as Colby went out the league. He kinda put his arms around a lot of players. In gain a lot of relationship that was good for history because when he was playing playing against you guys like that correct no he was he was he was focus. Listen very antisocial but some things changed in his life and he changed his a player in that comes with growth and maturity and plus. We see him do the details. Also we know what kind of level of instruction he's giving kick got it in their Rachel Ed this. You know who I think's going to be that Guy Kobe is right now for this group Steph curry because he's not beloved by a lot of his contemporaries a lot of guys coming up. They love stuff. They pattern their whole game after him so what Koby is is in the moment I think that's what Steph becomes ten or fifteen years from now that's I like that observe Asian producer Danny by the way when he saw that clip said more stars showed up for Copays Camp Than USA okay basketball which is nice welcome to the Irish coast alongside our warriors insider nick for Dell six times champion Scotty Scotty pippin coming up we're GONNA talk about. CJ mccollum is he adding fuel to the Nuggets Blazers rivalry that started in last season's western conference semifinals. Cj would just never never do that would he would he stick around to hear about that first. Though I want to share a small portion of my recent conversation with Joel Embiid we'll air this chat in full when the the sixers season tips off right here on ESPN October twenty third against the Celtics I wanted to because little sneak peek in this exchange discussed embiid's feelings on the roster changes that they had this offseason and his vision for how the sixers offense should flow now with the team's new personnel. Take a listen so it felt like the entire. NBA changed changed this off season. There isn't some big clear favourite for the title this year for the first time in a long time. Do you think you guys should be the favorite thing we should be the suicide pool ourselves we lost a big pacing Jimmy in a lot of good things falls but you know we we should be up there on the on paper and we got a really good team. so on Esser go on there and actually prove jackass awesome sin. You did lose Jimmy Butler he lost. Jj rettig Jimmy Butler in particular. It seemed like you guys got pretty close by the end of the play offs what kind of losses visit for you personally just not to have him around with you. It was a big loss because MEA name. We got to the point where we're really close awesome. We stayed close with a lot and that's my guy forever. wishy was on the team because lawsuit like the relationship Byu with them. could could have gone a long way. Jimmy you know when we when he was the fall quarter win you the ball was going to be either me or Jimmy San and I've you that Akon on into so this year yeah you kind of changes a lot of other guys got to step up pan. I gotTa do more. Jimmy did take a lot of those clutch game winning shots. Do you think you're the one who can do at this year. I'll be working on it all summer so we go. CIA goals how you work at two people screaming in your ear the time running down or anything like at that. How do you create that pressure situation? I'm in last should struggle Awadhi really struggle but you know in most of my turnovers came from you know guys double teaming me driving and temps wiping on the ball and you know so this summer with basically what a lot on situation with a shot clock running down and you know guys you coming at me and I gotta find a way to get a shot off. Obviously sued game is way different than actually practice saw. Hopefully Omaha Guo is pale. Thank you Joel for always being so forthcoming. wits you see the rest of our conversation. There's a lot there but do you want to get on this because because this is the most immediate thing to me Scott because he's talking about the changes that just happened. They're going into training camp with New People and here are the crunch time shooting numbers for the sixers three main off offensive threats. Is there on this year's roster. Who Do you think Philadelphia should be running this offense through when the game is on the line because Jimmy Butler his name is not on this list anymore obvious name? It's Ben Simmons I like his growth development and I like to style a player that he sa reminds me a lot of myself a lot of Jason key it but more so as to what yon is has been able to do with the Milwaukee Bucks a guy that is not intimidated knowing that foul shooter but he just continues to keep the pressure on your defense night in the night out and you're going to run out of files against these guys because if they don't give in their foul shooting will get better because they will build that confidence over time and I think that's what we have to do. I I like him beat an I like what he says as a player. I think he's a heck of a player in a very dominant player but you can't allow allow Ben Simmons not exist on office in if you told me Ben Simmons has developed a jump shot in the last few months then I would say wholeheartedly excuse your guy because he has the confidence to dominate on the floor. He just hadn't proven it to hit consistently from the outside the right now guys for me. It's EMBIID and the argument in this era of the League is really can't work it through a big man down low. My argument is we don't see a lot of big men who can do what he can do and in this time where the sixers are at he is that guy you trust most with the ball. When you need a bucket take Jimmy off the roster? You hope to buy shares. Maybe can turn into that guy over time right now with the game on the line. I'm in to embiid. Dumps in the game is so interesting. You heard me ask him well. How do you practice just being clutch right because as you always say Scotty it's very different when the stands are full but I like that they were he was at least trying to work through that? I also thought it was super interesting and there that he said I wish Jimmy was still on the team because remember when Jimmy Butler was I traded there. It was not great between the two of them. There were a lot of questions Joel made that comment about Gee I don't like the spacing acing on the floor and all of that and there were some reports of infighting between the two of them and we saw by the time the playoffs rolled around clearly that had all been squashed because they were in each other's ears all the time. They're laughing on the bench. They were encouraging each other that those kinds of relationships Scotty where you can tell the guy's really earned it with each other rate card when they break up again and I and we were able to see that bond come together we we saw a con there. Jimmy Butler got sort of a bad rap for it but it it all came together they weren't successful throughout the playoffs but they all found out what their identity was only basketball team that might stick with them. Even though he's gone right when he he answered your question and he said Jimmy's my guy. I wish he was here. I thought to myself we'll do embiid not have the voice internally that so many of us thought because because so many people figure embiid is the guy he is the face of this franchise so if embiid wanted Jimmy back that much and he went to ownership and said I want him back how bad we're things behind the scenes. The Jimmy is back in Philly well. I'm GONNA give you since since I'm good at my job. I asked that question and I'll give you we're gonNA show this yeah. I'll tell you because I don't WanNA misconception to be out there because it is a really good one. He told I said did you go to management and asked for him to stay and he said look in the exit interview. which is where he said? I thought it belonged and I said I really like playing with him. I'd be really happy if he was here next year. He said he did not go to ownership and say I'm lying down the railroad track. You must have Jimmy Butler back because because he said respectfully he thinks and brand is a really good job and he wants out and to be able to do his job without feeling Joel is trying to do his job for him so to me. He handled handled it the right way right that he said Hey I love playing with his guy. Be Happy if he's back but he did not go to ownership. You did not go over Elton's head. He did not lay down and say you have to keep him and so therefore I don't think it should be looked at that. Ownership didn't listen to him out in Brandon listen to him because he didn't. He didn't quite make that kind of stand. I can kind of get why everybody involved did what they did. You you better hope. Tobias Harris takes that step though when you invest that kind of money and you replace a player like Jimmy you better hope that he can be the guy that his contract says pity is yes absolutely interesting stuff. There will be more from Joel and being a few weeks because we have that team against the Celtics to kick off the season asked him a little bit about the bad blood between those teams and he gave me a Joel embiid answer so that tees for you. I want to get to another little rivalry brewing. When training camp started this week mcnuggets head coach Mike Malone decided to show his team film of the last time they were all together and that was of course the game seven loss to the Blazers in the Western Conference Semis you may remember there is a lot of contention between the teams in that series some language you see the pictures some players displaying some of their fingers to some of the other players? You know it's important to show them that you've I've got five then the blazers celebrating on the nuggets floor and yesterday someone told C. J. mccollum nuggets film Stash had included that celebration. Here's his reaction was funny. when you use whatever you can't as motivation you think this is a smart tool for Michael. I would like to watch the celebration Chris again to maybe tonight. I mean I love it. I love this from Cj. I love that he has this streak little trash talk and I love this rivalry. I think it's kind of interesting. Do you think that this is we get some bruin the season for any athlete being honest rates and I'm with you as a journalist I love when the pocket stirred by the the people in play but if I'm CJ mccollum calm down a little.

"Maybe they started to feel a little better, maybe his meds kicked in. I have no idea. What happened? But something happened to Joel Embiid and the third quarter because that was a tour to force just in the quarter, ten points, six rebounds in I don't know if you happen to catch this, but he blocked two shots late in that quarter. Oh, yeah. We don't don't everybody. Okay. Can can we maybe those two shots? I don't know the two shots. That got. Did you see that? That's a body bag is he still alive. Did they have to pay the ball going up? Any did he? Little get that stuff out of here. Messages messages said he made number two look small he told number two. You don't belong in this paint. I own this. You remember Sunday? He don't don't everybody just dunked on. Nobody everybody. Nobody. They just watched him. Okay. Mike, Scott, come on gay. He got Embiid got some of that room. You know, I it just struck me last night number two feelings might have been so hurt by those two blocks. He might need a day off on Sunday. This one out. We sure we he's he's capable just saying, I just I'm aching my. I heard you hope you hope that's what the case may be. But I don't believe I believe you'll see a virtuoso. I believe you're gonna see something special. I don't see what. Yeah. Yes. You have you saw Sunday. For free. Did you see living twelve last night? I work. I why make them mega. So guess what? That's what's going to happen. Well, I mean for Toronto you fought all year. And this is what you'd hoped that? If a game it gets game seven it's going to be in our building. And they got the team granted, we know what it at Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler, and Ben Simmons Tobias Harris. Yes. But we have yet to see them play really well consistently. Yeah. Jimmy Butler is being consistent for the most part. But we haven't seen that consistency consistency. From Ben Simmons nor Tobias airs, and I guess that seventy two hour blog that Joel Embiid had maybe pep toy KO. I I don't know. He said he felt better. He looked a little better in the second half. Now, we get an opportunity to see what's going to buy. So I know we got some do on this. I don't we got you this with well. I know I got six points because that's. We're not doing that. Why not doing it? No. That's what Vegas told me. You told me that the Sixers are the better team. Yeah. So why would I give six months to the better team because Vegas told you too much conviction?.

"Let's start by going to one of the real seminal voices in Philadelphia. One of the most talented talk show guys in the country. Mike, miss Anneli. Via the coward global satellite network. We could be disagree often. But there's three things I wanna hit on Mike, by the way, you look fantastic in those hipster blue glasses. It takes. Thank you very much. And I say, you're consistent. You're like a short circle bloody meat. I knew I could count on you today. Joel embiid. Okay. This morning. What is the city saying what do you do with him? If city is flabbergasted disappointed, and it's bordering on disgust, frankly. And I know he's got this illness excuse, but you know, everybody who's a great player never uses illnesses an excuse. He comes in into the building s today with his hangdog attitude like he's done his deathbed and that Colin rubs off on teammates say they obviously need to things they need to do yesterday. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid had to show up and play the capabilities and neither one did. So I mean, I don't know what the what's left for the Sixers at this point in those guys aren't gonna play they're dead. What do I make? It's very easy because I don't think I'm beaten Simmons games worked together. It's very easy to sell Simmons today, but I've never seen since magic a six ten and a half point that can finish at the rim that can defend that has amazing court vision this morning in Philadelphia. People want him. Out of town. Does this can if he here in a year? I think they're both here. I think that's a typical overreaction when you lose a game. Like that you want to get rid of them. Both. Does this not forget they want more than fifty games two years in a row these two guys? So it's not like they can't play together. They have to keep the core together. It's just befuddling to me how he's lost his game in his confidence. He has not attacking you watch Janas who has that kind of ability and that land that speed net strength to get to the basket. Ben Simmons is similar to that. And yet, he won't engage. We all know, he won't shoot that's going to have to change. If he wants to be a great player, but for him not to engage and get only five shots and yesterday's game. Is just mind boggling to me, that's a guy who's miscast is lost his confidence. They taken the ball out of his hands. Because they think they're better with Jimmy Butler with the ball in his hands. And he just stands around. It doesn't do anything for them. And they're not gonna win. If he does not attack the basket three quarterbacks in the NFL have come into it in the last seven or eight years, and I think they're just different. Andrew luck, Patrick Mahomes. And Carson Wentz whence, though has injury issues reportedly some people he's he can be a little standoffish a little ego. I. I think the kids spectacular. I think Nick foles is gonna come back to earth and go six and ten in Jacksonville. Do you? I could I make the argument that you have a little leverage with Carson Wentz today because of his injury and that you should actually resign him now going forward. I agree with you on every point which is hard to believe for agree with your point on falls, first of all. And I believe right now they need to and this has been the eagles. And no column they usually get in early. So they can get a little bargain. Yes. He has injury problems. But you can't look at it ethically. Like, he's always going to be injured. You gotta look at it the most positive way possible, which he is the franchise quarterback. And you get him in a little less of a price. If you any ear, and he has a great year will then you're going to pay him up over the top three quarterbacks in the league. So I think the eagles. No that I think they will strike. I think he's going to be okay is back is still not healed yet. I but there's a long time between now and the regular season. I think he's going to have a good year. And most people pick the eagles the win Levin gains with his schedule..

"Only magic. This is great court vision. Don't worry about his injury can't shoot. But his top three in the league getting ball to shooters. You train them beat. You had a guy who can shoot. I think going forward you listen. There was hardening Westbrook. Okay. See chose the wrong guy. Even though Westbrook was better than the moment. That's my takeaway. All right. So I think is actually not a crazy take I think people will react to it. Like, it's a crazy take I understand where you're coming from to me right now Simmons and Embiid both have won massive weakness. Because you and I were both at the captains of the Ben Simmons hype train last year. And I think we both assumed that this summer he'd be in the gym instead of in the club with the Kardashian and would come out with a nine foot jump shot at ten foot jokes. He's shot is so bad that the great writer from the ring or Kevin O'Connor. He's been postulating for three years. He is literally shooting with the wrong hand. I don't know that he's going to get better at that. Because I don't know if he's going to work to get better at that. If he doesn't get better that he has a defined ceiling as a player in issues. Totally different. Embiid fully healthy and fully functional plays like an MVP. Because the league is going so small there's no one in the league to match up with him. He's a bad match up for everyone. But you're not allowed to miss playoff games. Man. This just a rule like if you're injured all year and you miss a season. So be it. But if you play through the season, the only reason you're supposed to miss playoff games as a season ending injury. If you're a superstore, that's the I didn't make the rules. But I know what the rules are. And for Embiid to the I thought this was whoever made this in the great Fs one graphics. This is beautiful operation. Great game little buzzer, the whole thing, but it's real and it's a concern. And now we don't just have to worry about structural injuries. Amen, Colin how long do you go? When you first became Colin coward. Everyone knew how long you go without a sick day. Oh, my first year at the other place. I didn't take one for a year and a half. I wanted to prove to people there every day. And right, and guess how many since you've Nomi how many sick days I've taken zero. You know, how many times I've been sick plenty? And you know, where we're gonna look at directly at Joel Embiid. Because he's only had one good game series game to game for he sat two or seven from the field game one satellite. Father eighteen he played lights out monster game in game three we get all that. But I don't wanna hear about anybody else. Let's look at this stuff. Jimmy Butler is averaging nearly twenty three game twenty three eight in the eight and five. Tobias Harris has got to play better. "Percent from the field at fifty seven percent from three point range. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid if you look at Joel Embiid in this series against Toronto other than game three. This brother has shot nine for forty three from the field. Game two and game. Fool. He shot two for seven from the field in each game. Both games he claims to be sick the stomach virus in game two where he had the runs and then yesterday when he taxed Brett Brown at six twenty eight in the morning, according to Brett Brown to tell him that he couldn't play before. I get into all of that. Let's listen to the head coach for the Philadelphia seventy six let's listen to Brett Brown. Tell you what happened when it came to Jo Ellen be and his availability for game four of a conference semi finals game a game in which had the Philadelphia. Seventy Sixers ended up winning. They would be up three one. The likelihood is that they would have won this series. It would have been on lot. And they'd be ready to go to the Eastern Conference finals. But because joylin be one ready to play. The series is now tied to to listen to the Philadelphia seventy Sixers coach Brett Brown. Try to explain this about Joel Embiid. Listen to this. I got a text from him at six twenty AM this morning Kalemie me like he didn't sleep all night. He'd really never felt this Pooley, and he was unsure coach if I'm gonna play just want to give you a heads up. I'll try, but I don't know. And you know with that started my day. Laser gentlemen. Let me break down, y'all. I am not an MBA play. As a talent on a basketball court. I could've shined. Joel Embiid shoes. Okay. Yes. Two hundred and forty days out of the year. I'm here or I taken radio. But let's be fair. That's not the same as running up and down the call for ninety four feet Fadi two games. Not. Then again, if you're joylin beat you never had to do it. Eighty two games a night season his memory. He was drafted number three overall in two thousand fourteen because of those foot injuries. He never played the game. The first two years of his career. It wasn't until twenty six sixteen. Eighty started playing that year out of the eighty two games. The only play thirty one his second year. You only play sixty four his third year. He played sixty three. So he he played two games either. But that's neither here nor there. Let me tell you what the problem with Joel and beans argument, according to Brett Brown. Six twenty. The games at three thirty y'all. That's nine hours before the game. I don't care if you got to get up because you couldn't sleep all night, and you go straight to the facilities and in order to make sure you ready your pumped with fluids medication or whatever..

"That's a lot of I don't know. God made man, I don't know if he really envisioned of seven put seven five guy running up and down the basketball court jumping up and down you know, three or four times a week. I don't know if that's what he envisioned a man doing. But somehow the body can do that you ask them awful lot for Joel Embiid. They lift Joel Embiid at two hundred and fifty pounds. They Joel Embiid. They said who the guy? The big I would them with Philly. Drag Moreau agreement Greg Monroe, they say Greg Monroe outweighs Doan be about fifteen pounds. Greg Monroe at sixty five. Join the B two fifty Joel Embiid headway to fifty six he was in high school. I problem. That's. But skills it took shooting basketball. None of looking that's no disrespect to those guys. Those guys are in the all time greats, but they couldn't shoot the ball. Like this kid can Hyun the bone. Lebron James can't shoot the ball. Like this kid can shoot the ball seriously. Seriously. "Lot of hype around this raptors Sixers matchup last night. It was a close game during the first half second half, the raptors pulled away not much apprising about the result. But what I found. So surprising was the poor performance of Joel Embiid. You think he tweeted after this one not at all, especially if it was anything about the raptors, what is show me is that the Toronto Raptors have productive depth upfront that can compete on both ends of the floor pass Cousy Jakko, obviously surge a box plan, the small boss center was able to play against Joel Embiid one on one on the post, and then take it to him ofensive -ly. Yup. Big time score. And then you see in the pick and roll koala Linter taking advantage of Joel Embiid with Valentine's who had a big game off the bench and again right here. And the other thing it made me realize that they miss Dario Saric front height. Another guy. What high another guy will ball another guy to give fouls in? So Joel Embiid against the raptors they terrific job. Neutralizer him. On both ends of the floor. And that's why they had a commanding victory. I'm not gonna put all of this on Embiid. I felt they didn't post him up that much. They didn't really like run place for him in the second half. I felt like they would give him the ball. And they run someone around him for a handoff. It didn't feel like they were featuring him at that point. Well, here's you can't necessarily get feature. When it got his guard and us pushing you instead of you posting twelve feet are on lane line is pushing you out sixteen to eighteen feet and usually on a nightly basis in beats advantage. Besides the fact, he's Uber talented is he's usually bigger or stronger, then a guy he's guarding or vice versa. Search was not as big strong enough to push him away from the floor. Now, he has the athleticism and keep it from driving around on that one clip you show search offensively taking it right here bully ball in NB fails, bang bang. So it's not only on MVP cl-. Clearly, but as the game progresses, Ben Simmons, not a three point shooter can't shoot free throws to take the ball out of his hands. Jimmy Butler was terrific. So I was Leonard those guys scored over thirty five points, but the whole in the coverage yesterday was that God is playing like an MVP candidate usually didn't play. So well at Toronto. And that was Joel another thing the Sixers defensively there was so confusing is at one point was four for four from three and he kept getting open threes if he's four three he's quiet Leonard like, maybe maybe put guy near you know, it was it was odd bad performance from the Sixers especially in the second half. Well, bad performance from the thunder last night for the first part of the game. They were in Brooklyn against the nets came out slow they had during a deep deficit against the nets. And then Paul George took over he had forty seven points. He had a huge fourth quarter any hit the game winner from a pass from Russ a lot of people. Don't talk about Paul George that much anymore. Do these being overlooked? I think. We rushed to annoy the best player Batman. And then try to figure out who Robin is and for Michael, Jordan, Scottie Pippen. Now only got six championships. I appreciate the fact that not only did Paul embrace going to play with Russ. But he doubled down in recent. When a lot of people like Katie would say fill like plan with Russ toxic the hall elected you do there. I'll play and this guy goes out back to back seasons averages. Triple double ushers, Paul George onto the team now allows him to shine. If you look at the final play of the game. Billy Donovan terrific job of put his best office players in the action at the top forcing the defense to make a decision. They were hesitant. They both went to Russ he kicks it back to Paul George at the top of the floor. He can patiently survey the floor pump fake create space and knock down a clean, look and have forty seven points and..

"Watch this. You've seen it by now little up fake from 'em bead and then in elbow to the head from Drummond, I guess. Yes, watch this flopportunity. He just takes all vantage of the flopportunity here. That is a floppy poppy move right there. And then he argues with the official to get them ejected and actually get some jetted this infuriated me first of all, he completely fabricated the whole tire incident. I don't think Drummond even intentionally tried to hit him in the face any way, shape or form. He barely made contact with them beat, and then it'd be falls over not only that he falls over and then campaigns to the official to kick him out of the game. And the official complies these two gentlemen have a history. I don't know if you realize this year ago today they were just going back and forth about when they see each other. What's going to take place on the floor because it's competitive banner, banter. I love that about Joel Embiid. He did the exact same thing will Hassan Whiteside. So let's pill back the onion a little bit when he says, somebody can't guard him in be. That's a fact. Yeah, people can't guard. He's six, eleven. He has long arm three. You shoot the three. He has a nice handle can turn. All those skills, his all those skills. Why is he doing this? Floppy poppy thing? Why is he doing this? Why it's not about the flop. Yes, it is. It's about the risk falling forward. See the league has done a terrific job and you're going to see this happen. You're going to see Andre Drummond technical foul, two thousand dollars be rescinded. You're gonna see, Joel Embiid flying, find four floppy. I like that that's going to happen. I like the and you probably will see Andre Drummond also tweeting about will see that I guarantee. And so again, Joel Embiid isn't lying when he says, people can't guard him. Now he's a terrific player. The problem is that isn't the best matchup always for Andre. Drummond is just because of their skill sets are different. Now, Andre Drummond goes out of the game. However, Joel Embiid had a hard time garden, Blake Griffin did and play Griffith scored on them on a post a couple of times. And he also gave him that dribble handoff fake action. To go down Elena, ash, get to three point play to win the game. Yup, right on Amir Johnson. Well, after the game, we'll never believe this Joel Embiid had something to say as he always does. Let's let's all. Just trying to win the game that you see on the second one. Time to see that in me and actually my face. You know, like I said. Like a lot of things own a lot of real estate in his head. That's nice. It's cute little thing to say, but he said he touched my face. He didn't hit you. He didn't. He didn't extend his arm on just it makes if you look at the replay, you could see that he hit me. No, he didn't join you flop what you just gave a distinction is hitting someone's face versus touch touching. Exactly, yes. You got touched so touched. So when you're at the recipient, he clearly knows it wasn't hard or flagrant, but he would just trying to get to call and get drummed out of the game. If you notice the reaction was get him outta here immediately for him. It was a smart play. I know he has a flagrant. We got tangled up earlier in the game. I got called for a foul when Andre Drummond, flopped. So now it's a little payback while he has a flagrant, which got him out of the game. Do you think he has real estate and under Germans head? I think so. I think a little bit a little bit last year I go bought a record and the stats. The. Six, three and one against a piston this year, the prisoner one enough. That's really what we're going to just I both of these guys going to put up big numbers course. Andre Drummond is going to be among the league leaders in multiple categories. Joel, Embiid is going to be all NBA and in NBA possibly MVP conversation not only are the pistons undefeated in the Western Conference. The pelicans are..

"Joel embiid twenty three points seven rebounds six block shots and some of it with a mask some it without a mask he's got incredible feat incredible hands incredible size he can shoot the basketball can passable and oh yeah by the way he's got personality outside of that mrs lincoln how was the show in an era in which we that some people believe the big guy has gone the way of the dodo or the big guy is to nba teams with the running back is the lone star running back adrian peterson is to to the nfl that's not reality the reality is if you want to be seven feet tall you have to be able to shoot guard out in the permettre do all these things and then if you can score inside you can score will because everyone else's playing small here's the crazy thing i think ben simmons is great there has been no bigger cheerleader for the red shirt rookie than me none i told i called everybody wants to be call it i guy i was call it first guy but he's not even the best prospect on his own team that's how talented that's how much potential joel embiid has and don't get me wrong it all comes with the asterisk if he can stay healthy if he can understand what it takes to win a big game might because you'll be is just as likely to take contested three as he is to get it down the block where he can seemingly score will he just he plays every fourth quarter like it's the first quarter and that's not how you win championship games championship series that said if you want to if you go through all the things you have to do to be a superstar in two thousand eighteen in the nba at seven feet tall he checks literally every box outside of experience.

"We did know during the regular season what we saw in his first playoff game was not an evolution of embiid it was embiid so the sample limited as it is mike said earlier how many games has he played and yeah he's played less than your superstar in this conversation that you may think is better than in bead but joel embiid is daring you to find someone better and there is nobody and when he wins efforts playoff game now the results here right i don't think they believe i don't think my grind i don't think the people believe i think they say we're over inflating and be but since the moment you saw him beat i had the feeling this person if he stays healthy will be a top five basketball player of all time if he simply keeps his health because of what he can do in that body they were getting carried away a little bit i mean he's played ninety ninety four games four in the nba he's injured a lot i mean listen he's a great player we're talking about half of all time if he stays healthy talking them sir you're talking about him as if he's going to take the mantle from lebron i don't see a scenario where that guys as great as lebron is i think he's the next guy up i think ben simmons is the next guy up i'm not even certain the best player in his own team here we go i'm serious i bel anneli simmons embeds the order offbalance bella nellie patchy beard shooting these sideways threes that's the future i mean come on you we were all three of us were marveling at ben simmons effortless he made that look develops jumper mike okay.
