"Do he was great rebounder and trying to think some of the other place Elvin Hayes his teammate was another guy who missed out on the TV are like he benefited from the game where he beat Lew Alcindor and UCLA and he had this unbelievable performance he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated but the big E. Elvin Hayes was a wonderful player hall of Famer and but if you didn't get to the eighties when magic and Larry came in you know that feels like that's the black and white era of TV where you're watching you're going that's completely different than what we were seeing a bird and magic came into the league but Wes Unseld passing away yes ma'am yeah you're right guys like Alan Hazen in nineteen seventy five are averaging twenty four and fifteen and five years later there at the downside of their career and that's when the TV star we'll talk to Kareem Abdul Jabbar he'll join us coming up we had a poll question eleven yeah are you okay with permanently expanding MLB playoffs to fourteen games fifty eight percent say no all they don't want expansion here I tell you why I'm for it okay because I feel like July first sixty percent only says that we're done for the season Ameritrade all our players like everybody tanks every season is just like happily just laughs off right away also break yeah now they will be in play I'm okay with it this year I just want to I want to I want to see how it feels where are you you're gonna have more playoff teams in Major League Baseball at this point we're not going to have more games regular season games I'm okay with more post season games but what happens is once you do it it's rare when you you know go back and say we're not going to we're gonna table that it feels like from ten to fourteen you're adding revenue in the post season which is good for the owners therefore this is what they would want what do the players get out of this how about we get baseball back on the field we do that I'm okay with that I'll take ten playoff teams I don't need fourteen got some notes here Wes Unseld is the bullets wizards all time franchise leader in regular season games and post season games as well but the I don't know I know Kareem played against Wes Unseld but I don't know if there's a shorter center in the hall of fame and Wes Unseld because he was six seven your you people always say all is Barkley really you know under six five ago yeah now he can't be the way you play he's one of those guys that defies logic the Steph curry defies logic there's certain players were you go that just doesn't make sense and Wes Unseld was one of those players you just watch the many one hit a jump but he gets all the rebounds Moses Malone was another guy I never thought he was that athletic I just thought he was unbelievable and the offense of indefensible us unbelievable never stopped thank you think Rodman is a great rebounder Moses Malone would also get you twenty five at night to go along with those results I saw this story and it was a column written Saturday by a former NFL executive and a current CNN political analyst Joe Lockhart he said that the the league attempted to convince teams to sign Colin Kapernick and twenty seventeen to twenty eighteen he felt that they had done a righteous job based on the events in Minnesota this week Lockhart now realizes how wrong he was an attempt to right a wrong Lockhart believes the Minnesota Vikings should sign Capper Nick to a contract give him a legitimate chance to compete for the backup quarterbacking spot in training camp Lockard writes this situation in Minnesota right now offers a unique opportunity to deal with the symbols of racial injustice as a small but important step the owners of the Minnesota Vikings Ziggy and mark Wilf can send a strong message by offering Colin Capra Nick a contract to play with the Vikings bringing him bring him into camp treat him like any of the other players given a chance to play the game they love wow Joe do you realize what this sounds like Hey Hey Hey calling Connie and can you help us when we screw this up can you can you make good for this this will make this so make sure you know the murder of George Floyd go away thank wow that's really nice the Vikings now you're saying that they should bring him in do they want to bring him in how about three weeks ago should you brought him in three weeks ago about a month ago about a year ago about two years ago he come on a cake con company can come in and help us out here locker goes on right it will not solve the problem of blacks in police violence but it will recognize the problem the Capper Nick powerfully raised in perhaps show that with courage real progress can be made this is in progress you blackballed him he hasn't played since twenty sixteen and he did have a peaceful protest and that wasn't good enough member however the NFL the owners president vice president that was a peaceful protest about what happened in Minneapolis now if you said to me Colin Kapernick has a legitimate chance to beat out Kirk cousins fine but don't bring him in and just say Hey we fix that all good now you settled a collusion suit because the owners conspired to keep calling camper Nick out of the NFL because he was bad for business it's a PR move this is horrible to Perisic Hey come on in and and we'll give you a legitimate chance to start what does that mean and would you give him a legitimate chance and why the Vikings just because if George Floyd had died and been murdered in Dallas would you say to Jerry Jones a Jerry should bring him in here this could help things out that happened in Cincinnati fappening Cleveland Los Angeles Hey you happen in Minnesota Hey I know this will help things I don't want and Colin Kaepernick is not playing in the NFL again I said at the time he's not coming back because I know these owners that they viewed him as bad for business we can have this on our sidelines but he did protest and it was nonviolent.

"Ball for rebounding I mean yeah I mean won't is one a great. What if absolutely last thing? And then you can fire way anymore Observations or questions. You have what I get into these arguments with the few people that remember the bullets like I remember the bullets. I've always thought on these lists. That Elvin Hayes should be ahead of WES unseld. And I think you'd think the opposite which is fine And he is ahead of Wes. Unseld on the list. Elvin Hayes forty four and unsettled as fifty on this list. Do you know that Elvin Hayes and I didn't know this. A caller pointed this out or somebody tweeted it to me. Do you know that on the all time career scoring list for the NBA? That Elvin Hayes is still number ten ahead of him. Moses Malone Shaquille O'Neal Wilt Dirk Jordan. Kobe Lebron Karl Malone and Kareem all nine of those players ahead of him. They're all in the top nineteen on this list. Elvin Hayes is number forty four but let me take it a step. Further on the all time Rebounds List Career Rebounds List Elvin Hayes is still number four behind wilt Russell and Kareem ahead of Moses ahead of Dunkin ahead of Malone while I was shocked by that I knew that Elvin Hayes accumulated unbelievable numbers during the course of his career because he played a long time and my God he played like forty eight minutes a game like he never came out. He was a true ironman but he's the fourth leading rebounder of all time in the tenth score of all time might the criticism of Elvin Hayes. Is that number one. He was not a great teammate. He was definitely a sort of a self involved player but they other criticism which is totally fair. Of Elvin Hayes is that he didn't play his greatest. In the biggest of circumstances he wasn't very good in the seventy five finals against Golden State. Rick Perry completely outplayed him and the bullets. That's one of the biggest upsets in NBA history. They didn't win a game they got swept by the warriors. And Elvin Hayes wasn't very good in seventy eight when they won the title at Seattle in game seven a he didn't have the greatest of series B. Fouled out a game seven. He was on the bench. When the key moments in that game took place or twelve points out twelve points eight rebounds and fouled out of game seven in the postseason that year and so that is legitimate criticism of the big. By the way. You know In this game exists on Youtube he played a game against Makhdoom in the seventy five playoffs before they played the Celtics before they played the warriors and I think mcadoo had fifty. Hayes had forty eight in the game. They beat Buffalo in a seven game series. Beat them in seven. Actually you know. I've got the box score right here. Elvin Hayes in that game. Oh my fault. It was the next game mcadoo. Fifty Elvin Hayes had forty six in this one. But what a match up. That was Makato against as you know in a series yes but L. Elvin Hayes is a top three to five power forward of all time and no one ever talks about talks about him and no interest very gun and in. This list was based in part on numbers. And Elvin Hayes is fourth leading rebounder career all time and tenth leading score which is really blew me away. I mean I knew he had big time numbers. I didn't know that he was still that high up on the list Anyway that's that's all I got. What else you got on this? It's all I got okay. It's always fun to debate this stuff. there will probably be five more lists over the next month that we'll have a chance. Let's talk about You wanted to mention something about Tyson. Well there's been a lot of publicity. Mike Tyson put posting some workout videos. That have impressed. A lot of.

"Comes to supermarket chains tops tops supermarkets and Wegmans are the big upstate? New York supermarket chains. Wegmans of course has become a national you know supermarket chain in probably among among the highest quality supermarket chains. That there is and they've expanded down in this area. Although they've really been primarily in Virginia Northern Northern Virginia. You know real estate. Montgomery County is so expensive at their prices are very expensive. To say it's hard to find the land and build it out but there aries one up to seventy I think maybe it's Germantown and now there's going to be one. That's going to open up at that Fannie. Mae Location on Wisconsin Avenue. I don't know when it's going to open up but Anyway I ca I ca. I just market quest okay What's the worst supermarket chain every dealt with? Oh God All of the ice okay. So a lot of the northeastern supermarket chains you. You know the the supermarket chains in New York and New Jersey. You know I mean like the shop. SHOPRITE is not. There aren't corporately owned stores that it's they're all independent independent owners their franchise like I dealt with a lot of shoprite owners way back in the day and then a lot of the A and P owned stores like Wal Bounds on Long Island. I I spent a lot of time and some of the nicest people I certainly remember them. But some of the stores that you would go into. Wow I loved a pay only because of the name the Great Atlantic and Pacific. Yeah that's a great name. I remember that one time. They changed their name as a company super fresh. And I'm thinking that they didn't know they just super fresh was one of their store formats. Well I thought how absurd you got this great name and it turned into something like super fresh. I thought that was all day. Piece suits. AMP was in this market with their super fresh stores primarily they had had in Manhattan. They had their food emporium stores. which were more upscale stores? I remember spending a lot of time. In fact the the food emporium group they were actually their headquarters. Were in the South Bronx and I I and I had to call I. They were client of mine and I would lot lot of Tommy. I spent so much time in my car in the late eighties early nineties in Newark New Jersey Philly and I. I'll never that. That meeting was always a tough one because it was a bad neighborhood it was not a good neighborhood security everywhere around their facility and I had in you know I they would let me come in and Park in the facility if you didn't have the relationship with them and you had to park outside of the facility you may not come back to card complete and total good shape but So the other thing about buffalo you know you mentioned the sports teams. The the Buffalo Braves in the Washington. Bullets is played a series in nineteen seventy five Braves against the bullets Bob mcadoo Ernie digregorio Andy's Randy Smith who was the fastest scarred and the League against the bullets with Elvin Hayes. Wes unseld Mike Reardon. You know nick weatherspoon Kevin Porter. This was the first team in Washington that made a big run. They came in nineteen seventy four from Baltimore and the first year they were called the capital bullets they called the capitol. They lost the Knicks in a seven game series. And then seventy five they It was the Celtics and the bullets who finished one to the bullets were. We're actually in the center of it was called the Central Division of the Eastern Conference back then and the The Celtics were in the other division. Probably the Atlantic and the bullets played the braves in a best of seven series and Elvin Hayes and mcadoo each in the series had fifty point games really and that that series stories is of some of the key games are on Youtube. I'll bet the. CBS broadcast of them and the bullets. One in seven games one the seventh and deciding citing game in DC and then they went on and played the Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals and beat the Celtics in six games and that was the year they lost a golden state they got swept swept in the NBA finals by Golden State. It by the way odds wise. Still the biggest upset in NBA history. I can't believe that goal underdog was it was a one man team I mean they had will Clifford Ray and and and guys like that for all intensive fills Phil Smith. was there shooting shooting Guardian Rick Perry boats to see much more talented. They were and they got swept and swept. The braves. Were a fun team the watch they were a fun team to watch play. What was the name of? The building was called the odd short auditorium. Or something might have been because I think that's where the sabres played for many years but it's funny because I found that I found some of those games on Youtube. I don't know several years ago when I was like. Wow these these are like the first Games. I can really remember of the bullets being in Washington. You know playing the braves and mcadoo was a star. That was the best of Makati's career was when he was is with us right off the bench with the Laker. Having lived through the macadear with the next I can tell you. His best era was in Buffalo. Will he was a disappointment. Appointment in new. I could be wrong about this. Look it up but I think mcadoo and Elvin Hayes were the top two scores in the NBA In in one thousand nine hundred and that would have been nineteen seventy five live. I want to look that up. Because McAfee was a was a lethal score. We were so happy as Knicks fans get mcadoo and he was such a disappointment. Nineteen like Spencer. deadwood was Spencer. Haywood Spencer Haywood played for the bullets in the early eighties. On those ruling Mahorn Teams Spencer. Haywood was who is a part of that team. So the nineteen seventy four. Seventy five season. the bullets ended up sixty and twenty two. The Celtics ended ended up sixty and twenty two but the Celtics got the number one seed The this franchise won sixty games. Once wow yeah it would end and they won sixty that year and then in nineteen seventy nine. They went fifty eight So you're leading scorers that that year count impassable reference. If they don't make it easy MAC news you're leading score. He averaged thirty four point. Five points a game Rick Berry was to Elvin Hayes was seven Elvin Hayes average twenty three a game well because the leading score thirty four point five in Barrie. Thirty point six Kareem was thirty a game three scores over thirty and then it was tiny archibald. Charlie Scott Bob Lanier and Elvin Hayes tiny archibald another great player. Watch what straight player to watch the league in points assists one year. Yes now that series against Buffalo That is honestly that is I sort of remember their first year here when they when they lost to the Knicks and seven games. 'cause you know the Baltimore. Bullets had this incredible rivalry as you know with annex ex and then when they moved to Washington that first year they played the Knicks in in a best of seven and long game. I mean the battles between Gus Johnson and Dave Bush were legendary between West and Willis Reed legendary battle. So you listen to this Tommy all right. Oh my God mcadoo. Samakuva had fifty fifty in game four in buffalo and then Elvin Hayes came back in a two series in Washington and had forty six five. You know mcadoo though I don't I I don't know where I can find exactly real quickly. What his average was I can do it off the top of my head here but mcadoo had had to average forty something a game for the series? He averaged thirty seven point. Four points per game. Here it is. I found it. And Elvin Hayes average twenty eight point four points per game. I mean two of the great scoring power of that era. Elvin Hayes is I think ver- very often. He gets very underrated in the conversation. The greatest power forwards in the history of the game. I know he was on the. NBA's top fifty fifty with wes. You know when they put that thing together. How many years ago is that? Now Elvin Hayes is one of the great power forwards his game but powerful or back then was considered senator blue collar position. And Elvin Hayes was not a blue-collar player. No he wasn't but you know. Elvin Hayes was a great rebounder and shot blocker. I know that I I know what he was. A score. First and foremost as he was in college You think like I think when people think about the greatest power forwards they think Kevin Mikhail. Yeah don't you think like Kevin McHale is always like first and foremost I think Carl Malone maybe Karl Malone you know depending on how you view Tim Duncan I sort of viewed Tim. Duncan is more of a center Sodi but with David Robinson technically he was more of a powerful that was only early in in his career. Dirk is a power forward. Yeah you know and Dirks up there. I duNNo. Elvin Hayes was an iron man to he. Didn't Miss Miss Games. He played forty something minutes and nights because he was so self. So sell some of my favorite conversations over the years whether that was on the podcast or on radio have been with Phil Chenier and always. We'll talk about whatever. The topic of the day is on the wizards and then out somehow always circle back to some of those teams and he has really fond memories. But there's no doubt that Elvin Hayes was not an easy team now he was not an easy guy but but what a great player yes absolutely. I mean part of that that bullets championship team and that was a great era of basketball in this town for NBA. It was. I mean I mean that's the thing you don't realize if you're not of a certain age when the the bullets in the nineteen seventies in Washington went to three NBA finals and one at once. And then if you count Baltimore in the decade of the seventies the bullets went to four. NBA Finals you know when they were always a threat even when they weren't in the finals they were one of the threats to get there. They were in the playoffs every year. Yes you know. It wasn't like they were ever awful. I mean look you had to future hall of Famers On the team in in West and in Elvin Hayes if Chenier hadn't had back trouble late in his career he was on the verge of putting together. You know sort certainly only a borderline hall of fame absolutely and then Bobby Dandridge is just flat out. When he came here in one thousand nine hundred seventy eight he was the difference maker? Yeah you know. He was the club she he was. He was off performer. He was there to butcher. When when the Knicks made a trade in sixty eight or sixty nine with Detroit? It got to push her. That was the final piece that changed the Knicks And it was the same thing with Bobby Dandridge who had won an NBA title already in the along with Lou. Alexander was he Kareem Rollout Center. At that point he was Lou. Outside and Bobby Dandridge wasn't was one of the Great Clutch complainers in DC sports history. That's not an exaggeration He was the guy that hall of Famers Wes unseld and Elvin Hayes Hayes deferred to in crunch time he was also a great defender. He was the guy that essentially in the playoffs. Took Dr J. You no and in guarded him would guard Gervin. You know he got the best assignment defensively. But my favorite Dandridge story of all time was told by Dick Motta in the seventh game of the Eastern Conference Finals Nineteen seventy-nine they were playing the San Antonio Spurs as the defending Champs because they had won the title the year before against Seattle and San Antonio was in the Eastern Conference then game seven which is a controversial game in NBA history because the officiating that went completely the bullets way down the stretch actually trailed by ten with four minutes to go and got every call and spurs fans before they started to win titles with Popovich and Dunkin and that whole era they talk about the Doug Moe team that lost the bullets that should have been there championship team and it was robbed from them in in the seventh and deciding game. Well with twenty seconds seconds to go in a tie game at the end of overtime in game seven game seven Eastern Conference finals. They won five to one zero five. The bullets had the ball. And and back then you know they would have. They would have mics in huddles and you could hear and nothing's going on in the bullet subtle. Nothing like your Dick Motta Bernie. Br bickerstaff they were. The motto was head coach. Bickerstaff was the assistant coach. They're just looking around. They had called a time out and then the horn goes off and modest says everybody gets together. Gather get in here Thrown into bobby and get out of his way. That was boy. That was the play. They threw it into Dandridge and he worked the clock and got to that spot he had this spot on the baseline. Tommy where he that ten to fifteen range where he was money he got to that spot. Knocked down the shot. They won the game. Actually the spurs had one final possession and Elvin Hayes blocked The final shot by James. Silas who was their point guard. That years the Spurs Point Guard and the bullets one went onto the finals and lost that year to the supersonics in five games in the rematch of the year. Before but I I love. I love that you know. Modest is told that story over the years I've heard Dandridge tell the story of heard him all. Tell the story it's like. What are we doing coach? They're just sitting there thrown into bobby and get out of his way. And I'm bobby go in the game for us. Ends with motto is a good coach. Yes he was like He. I'm sure he had a good play. He wanted to draw but he decided you know what the players are going to decide. Decide this one one player in particular When we Talked last on Tuesday. You said you were gonNA tell us the story of of a of a lawsuit you're involved in that made it to the Supreme Court. Well Yeah we were talking about my coverage.

"But like I said, he he no better than bottling their worst, read or Elvin Hayes. I got I got you. I got I gotta run west. I appreciate the call. Thank you so much. But I got you understand where you coming from, bro. Let's go to Keith real quick. You live Stephen. They talked to me Keith. Okay. T's real quick. Go ahead broke. Yes me. Go ahead. Hit on the fact that I listen to you mash mile every morning religious. Thank you. Okay. And I heard you talking about heart in green. But we never you never mentioned the fact that hard and push off every day. I'm Tom he touched the ball. Well, you don't cry. But usually, usually, you know, your false there. Because usually he's dribbling before he steps back. So that's not a push off. When he dried even when opponents army he push out to give back some hockey. Sometimes sometimes he does he gets away with it. Sometimes he doesn't. That's part of the game. When they plan in tight you push out. So what would you go? Tell me man. He averaged thirty six points a game because he's he puts his off. Now, my point is that don't cry. He said he shouldn't crop. You know, who I will say this though, I don't have a pretty he wasn't crying about the foul. He's crying about being undercut. And I think that's something to be careful about you. Don't need to be taken the jump shot wondering whether or not you're gonna get your ankle twisted that I agree with but drink but green green jumped away he didn't jumping towing. But you know, last play that last night, but there were three or four cages in the first half of the first three quarters where he had a legitimate argument, bro. That's a fact that's a fact they bake. I got I gotta go. But I appreciate the call. I got your point..

She's on the air on our special NC, double finals addition of with burn marks from my bracket, all your it was really really good and charred degree the weekend of the sweets tournament blew up all blew up on her. But I just want you to know Jose, David it's here. It's with me. I'm as shameful as this bracket has turned. I'm loyal keeping it till the end why deep connection, I'm Catholic. It's a guilt thing. She feel guilty about it. She missed a few. That's all feel guilty of being the little I had a little hubris before the Sweet Sixteen thinking, I was all that and a bag of chips, and I got served. Right. And you're Walking Dead. But now here we sit big night Texas Tech announced they'll be no classes tonight, nor any clashes tomorrow for understandable reasons. Virginia on the redemption tour after their disastrous season last year or their final four March madness last year disastrous losing in game one. And here they sit with the first from worst. "Espionage, Shane radio Jake asthma in for Matt Perol. Thanks again to Elvin Hayes for joining us in the last segment. If you missed the interview, all the interviews will be podcast that interview in particular. We'll be on our watch trending page. So if you miss out on hearing Elvin Hayes, you can listen back to the entire. Conversation. Good stuff from elven, and man, I would've loved to have been alive to watch the game of the century fifty one years ago at the Houston, Astro dome fifty two thousand plus in attendance for the first ever college game broadcasted on national TV, UH and UCLA and the Cougars beat UCLA seventy one sixty nine and snap. The Bruins forty seven game winning streak and Elvin Hayes in that game. At himself. A monster performance dropping thirty nine with fifteen rebounds. And they limited Lew Alcindor, aka Kareem, Abdul-Jabbar, fifteen points, and I want and at that time. Lou all cinder. We all know how special he was as a college player that all being said Elvin Hayes now calling games for the Cougars and don't sleep on the Cougars. Remember last year in the NCAA tournament. It took a Michigan buzzer beater to beat you h to keep Michigan season alive. You h had that game one. They played phenomenal against the team that ended up going to the national championship game. And losing the Bill, and I wonder if you're a UH fan, and you and I are both transplants Jake. So I can't put myself in that spot. But I wonder if there's a little bit of what could have been with you h fans because it was out last second shot, and you mentioned that Michigan went all the way to the championship game before they lost to Villanova. But wonder if maybe the Cougars like could have been us Cougars, really solid team. Despite losing a couple of good players on that team a year ago. This team is loaded with experience I think losing in that conference championship game. Do you think that's a big deal losing in the championship game? I don't. We'll see what the Cougars. Could do. I'm high on them. I hope they do. Well, the I don't have a rooting interest in very many teams because how many think it couch guy. So if the college d three not in the NCAA tournament, but I do have a brother that goes to the university of buffalo. Some polling for the buffalo bulls, and they'll play the winner of Arizona state in Saint John's and their first matchup that playing game for those two schools is coming up tomorrow night in Dayton, the playing games tonight. We'll get you coming up tonight in the first matchup is the North Dakota state verse n or north it actually is that is your school playing tonight. They are right tomorrow night. So who are the first game tonight? It's fairly doubts. Yes. Correct. And the second game tonight is Belmont and temple and the first four games tonight. We'll get to those kind of talk about the more coming up later in the show, but let's get to Mike trout now. And by the way, the other team I'm rooting for Houston because we're based here in Houston. So why not root for the Cougars moving forward? Let's get into this Mike trout his deal. If you're just tuning in four hundred and thirty million dollars eight twelve year deal really ten years, they tacked on two additional tacked on ten years the final two years, then he had left on his deal. So Mike trout is signing the biggest contract in professional sports history. Four hundred thirty million dollars and the sports world had to react JJ watt. I thought had one of the best tweets out of any of the athletes that comic and he tweeted, hey at Houston Texans might chat, and I kind of look alike. So how do you feel about twelve years for one hundred thirty million fully guaranteed for me too? And that is why if you are a really good baseball player. You can make way more money. And if you are a really good football player that is why if you are a really good basketball player, you can make way more money than a really good football player because the key word and JJ watts tweet fully guaranteed, and my trout is going to be getting all four hundred and thirty million dollars from that other funny tweets, Brent Anderson major league baseball pitcher. Hey, Mike trout, can I take out a loan Mike trout extension compared to some of the other biggest contracts in the history of the other sports. Let's go through them, shall we? Trout. Four hundred thirty million dollars the next closest deal in any other sport is Russell Westbrook's two hundred and seven million dollar contract after him. Matt Ryan got one hundred and fifty million dollars from the falcons a couple years ago. Alex Ovechkin and hockey not even close one hundred twenty four million dollars. You just look at baseball alone for a couple of weeks, Bryce Harper was the highest paid athlete ever. If you look at longevity of a total contract that lasted just a few weeks. If you're Scott Boras how upset are you right now. Because you went through the entire off season. You wanted the longest deal most amount of money and the highest average annual value. You didn't get you didn't get the eating at the highest average annual value. There would have taken the shorter term deal from the dodgers at like forty five. They would have. But man that deal just that deal looks like nothing. Now, the Phillies have to be thrilled that it looks like they got I mean twenty five mil for Bryce Harper. That's a steal for them compared to my child. I don't know about that though. Because I mean, they they gave him thirteen years. The average annual value is in bad at twenty five million dollars a year. But they wanted like record breaking numbers. Three hundred fifty million dollars. I don't even want to go down that road now because I just feel like like comparing trout to Harper. I try to so much better than Harper. Right. So it's like Mike trust should be paid this and the numbers with Mike trout. I've just absurd. If you really look at him. I we could break down just how much money might trout is going to be making per at bat or per day. If you project and look at the value of the deal relative to a major league baseball season might be making ninety eight thousand dollars a day. Career earnings total at the end of this contract might trout will have made five hundred seventy seven million dollars over the life of his playing career. If he's done at the end of this deal. I mean, you talk about making money Bryce Harper is making stupid money to stay on that Bryce Harper thing that Chris just brought up four hundred thirty million dollars. Mike trout, Bryce Harper. Manny Machado and Nolan Aaron all have been inked too. Big time contracts this off season that combined total get this stat from ESPN that combined total those four guys I just mentioned one point three two billion dollars for those four guys the Tampa Bay rays total payroll in the history of the franchise. One point zero one billion. In the twenty one seasons. The rays have been around. So think about that for a moment. The Tampa Bay rays lifetime contracts. Given out is one point one billion four guys in this offseason alone. Have overcame the total amount of money the razor I've ever paid any of their players. Just a different sport nowadays. And the other thing with Trump signing long-term does is that it puts the bed the Bryce Harper recruiting Mike trout. Storyline. Bryce Harper in his introductory press conference with the Philadelphia Phillies talked about that. Hey, you know, I'm going to go and recruit, Mike trout. Wow. That's not happening. Mike trout, by the way in this deal. No opt-outs. Here's a full, no trade. But no opt-outs just like Bryce Harper steel only trout cypher one year less is making over one hundred million dollars more. And oh, yeah. One year less than the thirteen price offer science.

"So it all worked out. We're back on Christian like news going to join us in a few minutes. He's the all time leading score and NCWA tournament history. Guys who second Elvin Hayes, Danny Manning Tyler hands, bro. Who you got? All right. You look dating. Manny makes too much sense to me. So that him hembo is always trying to trick us. So I'm gonna go with where do you think? Jay, I'm gonna go with the OJ to legend at he got it. Right. Because the answer is all. Hayes. He's scored three hundred fifty eight points in the NCWA Tournai forty nine thin Christian shortly. Meanwhile, Jinglin the Lakers last night. And now officially appears to be over posting the clippers crazy sequence end of the first step look at the ball. Roll. I mean, what are the clippers? Not come up in contested dole works both ways. Obviously the Lakers want to get it to a one. Right. But they also want to keep the bronze as on the perimeter. They're basically saying we'll live what this shot. And they get any missed it. The Lakers down four points at halftime now fourth quarter, look at the defense or lack thereof from the Lakers Lakers. Terrible job with the finning the paint. That's one of their achilles. Heel the entire season more frustration from LeBron. He was going to get into it which of Michael Green. And they're going to have to be separated any terrible. What happened is just an indication of the frustration for the Brian. And then he can see more of it. Shoving. And then and then to sort of capital laws. Here's the pond Jane's with shot that he will make ninety nine out of one hundred times there's the hundred LeBron and the Lakers falling again to the clippers and falling. It would appear hopelessly out of this thing. Lebron? The Lakers have a long way to go before reclaiming Los Angeles the clippers are on pace to the best record in the city for the seven straight season. That was something that you did four times between one thousand nine hundred five and twenty twelve so let's take this to the table for a minute here. Again, the Lakers five and a half games out. You said earlier in the conversation even is now getting LeBron about just shutting him down. You don't see any way in the world or any reason to shut him down the rest of the way, we're going to do that legacy stuff that fills our shows. You know, everything we're doing all the time, but are the grand scheme of things. Nobody's ever going to remember this stuff. Okay. But if we really want to play that game if he were to shut it down early as they missed the playoffs. That's worse than him. Just writing out the rest of the regular. Season missing missing the point you agree that this gets forgotten. Let's say they missed the playoffs and things go. Well from you today forget about this completely is this is this a legacy stain for the brand this season. I wouldn't consider it a stain. But unfortunately, it's going to be something that we remember. PD is not going to build a page and not mention the fact that the first time the missed the playoffs was this season since two thousand five disagreed. This is going to be one of this is going to be a stain on a great legacy. And it's not going to deter us from talking about him as one of the all time greats. But this situation is different. He went to Los Angeles to play with the story franchise and brand and to help turn them around. They didn't make the playoffs. The last five years nobody came into this year and felt like it would be a successful season. If they didn't make it for the sixth straight year. No, I look nobody's saying that. But I think to be fair like you still have to go back to the injury. You still have to say, okay. They would've made the playoffs. Like, my feeling is year one on this fine. This doesn't look good. But like if you ever number two behind Jay, I'm not moved him to four because they make them play people..

"He did he had shack in there. Just like. Eleven titles for Russell six Kareem three MVP's in bay finals MVP's for Tim Duncan with five titles, by the way. If you if you don't want to do it on titles because you say, okay. Well, it's it's a team game. That's not right. Will let's talk about impact on the game individual achievement. How about this still today? All time points leader Karim thirty eight thousand points, you know, who's behind him. Another guy got to play power forward. It went to five, but he was a four Karl Malone and for that matter, by the way after you go through a stretch of wings, then at six seven eight nine ten and eleven big men in their day wilt, Dirk shack, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes who was only six nine, but he was big men in his day and Akeem Malaysian. So one two six seven eight nine ten eleven all playing the four five all in different ways. Not the same player all different players. But all Biegman. I'm just asking. What are we supposed to do? Here. If titles you can point to big men like Russell and points. You can put two big men like Kareem. Why do we just ignore the big, man? I'm genuinely curious why do we nor them consistently eight seven to nine three seven seven six when it comes to these conversations? It's in J Bronco. That's it Stephen a next. That's just a sample of what you hear on the Stephen swift show, weekdays at one PM eastern on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Robert, Robert, somebody burned down, my she shed.
