"Hey, this is complete with since you did anybody watch us over the weekend. We're only about through the news. Okay. I think it's phenomenal episode. That's pretty good. Yeah. Emma Thompson is great, great all the accents, the American accents. Really, really good. Although did you see the, the, the, the, the etiquette training for etiquette for? Yes. What did you think of that? I thought she was hysterical. Yeah. I felt real uncomfortable with a white woman hitting a black woman. Yeah. I know that we're not trying to be too politically, correct. We don't have to be. But at the same time, it felt weird. I did not. I just saw the comedy. I'm I don't have my head of my ass like you do. But well, I thought if a white dude, what I felt the same and I would have not felt the same. And that's what made me feel uncomfortable. I explain it so that we can know what you're doing great. You Leslie Jones is playing a character who's a relative of Megan Markle, right? Yes. And she's there to, to see the, the new baby. It's like the third cousin. So she's a little, she's got some, she's like street. And so she needs somebody. And so they bring in the etiquette coach to teach her how to properly present herself. They leave them alone in the room. And when Leslie Jones, does something wrong, she smacks her in the face, or doc stuff out of her hand or whatever. This year. It sounds really racial. It's to me, it's it was over the top cartoony overtop cartoony but at the same time I could see somebody being offended, and like I say, if it was a white dude, getting that treatment, I wouldn't have had a problem at all. Which is what made me think maybe there is something to my feeling uncomfortable. So. I will tell you cross my mind for ten seconds. And then I once the it's chairs and ridiculous. I it's, it's the same with family guy thing where, you know, Stuey is beating up Ryan the dying. The dog. It's so ridiculous. That unnecessary violence that I thought it was funny. I mean I also racist. Sure, let's there on the other side of it. Song. To send you a song, he wrote, it's the story. Provis. I'm not Wayne Brady. Song drop of a hat. All right. So you made your celery cake..

"I look like AA batteries that you would put them. It was just dynamite, basically, put it on a coke bottle and just aim at your sister. Let it. Go to Indiana. You could still get all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah. I think the joy doing that have warehouses where you can pick it up, right? It's so here's my, my main question is such a personal story and such a crazy story l twenty does that song show up and not earlier in your career. Well, this, this album is based around days out of my life. Hence the the Charlottesville song. It was about a day specific diary, kinda day and the storyteller suitcases around really about the broader days of my life, and how I live my life and the story of my life on the road. So, yeah, every almost every single song is about a specific day that I wrote just burning out of relationships to write about friends girlfriends. I live second wife. You know, it's just a I've written about everybody. So now it's more about about days. Right. Yeah. Check back in with Elliott Elliott over video village anything of import happened over the past week. Super important. I, I made I made. Celery cake. But small in it. Sugar. So not super important. Nothing says celebrate salad or cake. It was it wasn't as awful, as you think it was edible. I speak for everybody. What the fuck are you talking? What What what is? is? A carrot cake. I play a character fair enough. Right. But then my carrots have gone bad. Oh boy. And I was like, well, I'm just gonna make it for myself. I had some celery. So I decided. Does it have an Asian taste to it? It should have. Put some ginger in it. I think that might have made it. Yeah, I still have some of it not with me here. I would you not bring it in such a because. Because I think it's, it's okay for me. Let's put it that way. I would like to sample this other. You think it's d-actually dangerous. No, no, no. I don't think I don't think that's true. I mean okay as far as it tastes like it tastes, awful. But you can tolerate it. That's more of the case, will you make one brings some in short. Oh, god. I want to try some other kick. All right. So just because carrots, and celery are kind of, like neighbors on the, the platter of party. You felt like one or the other dislike I had I had celery and I and I look, I'm willing to experiment, I've made I've made spaghetti sauce with plums instead of tomatoes. How that go that actually goes, really well, the, the yeah. So it sounds like you are willing to experiment maverick in a word. Sometimes somethings working, sometimes things don't middling, I think, wonder soul this. I think this was important. Change the course of culinary history this weekend. Is there some kind of is there a death penalty for cooking because that might? I think that, that just happens naturally when you eat something. We don't have that kind of law..

"Closers are great, by the way. Yeah. Who's the guy? Dune does those. Yeah, good except for that one, which is Josh toback over in that area. But Taylor Goldsmith from Dawes was on. Oh, nice. And I was seeing your praises him on the show. Intel. Mainly because he did a song that made me cry. And there's only, you know handful, you Steve Perry. Steve Perry Dion. Of course, my heart must go on. We hang on Ellis, Paul Taylor. While you're seeing that shot up. No. This is you talking. Well, that helped me I'm a producer and I'm producing right now if you'll do me a favor and hold your Qatar horizontally vertically because. Okay, thank you. Okay. Good. It's blocking Jason. It's blocking the camera. It was I was trying not to not to say anything. But then I had to. Just so I remember that at eleven thirty when we ever push show, meeting, Elliott treated me poorly. I apologize if I may feel. Feel. To be reprimanded. I was trying to find an opening and I was trying to look you in the eye and he wouldn't look at me, right? I thought maybe because it was about your camera that you would forgive him moving camera, I was just wondering if the sound hole was close enough to the mic for the playing. It's great. It's just for when the Is that. that you do whatever you want? I see some block in just one. Yeah. Okay. So eleven thirty. Be worse. Right. Eleven thirty one. I a lead Elliott off the hook. Guys. I'm cancelling the polls show meeting to say that I can't bring it back. All right. Now there's rights, according to the constitution. What? Goes with Ella's Paul Steve Perry. There's a on. Hey, Colin hay, and Colin. Hey, Jim rotea? Well, Jim crow is a singer songwriter. Is that a guy that's in your wheelhouse? Probably one of the top guys because he he does first of all, he's a storyteller essential to what he what he did back then in any splits the Qatar who's gonna left, who's on the right and throws his vocal right in the middle in there. You know he always had great players. I think Tommy west was producer but the great second guitar player. And that's, that's the to me. That's like nirvana thrill, like really good upright player, a base and a piano, and you're, you're off to the races and Hughes. He's just so good. The writing was so good time in a bottle is. Great metaphor and beautiful song still. Yeah. I love I love all of his stuff and good thing about approaches, we try but many times, always look, sixty five years old. Yeah. Thirty thirty thirty thirty three. Maybe he was young. Yeah. But he looked sixty five years old. He has a son AJ crow. Chee AJ. Yeah. I think he's good. Yeah, I grew up with this dad's music. So you know, I still really tight with his dad's music, but I've met a couple times, I think screen when he does he I don't know his music as well. Honestly. But he was performing at the, the what I played Lake Tahoe. The comedy clubs in one room and then the, the jazz Catalina whatever it was called. And he was in there one night. Oh, great. Yeah, it was great. But, but you kind of it's kind of, like, hey, you're really great, your debt songs wanna hear the what because you don't know what he playing so it's like just throw a couple in. That's Jillian Lennon syndrome, having to live in the wake of your father. And but, you know, e is a piano player. First of all, so he I mean he plays guitar swollen. He has done tribute shows. I do not know that. Yeah. And it's, it's pretty spooky to watch imagine. But yeah he's Kano player. So I think he's got his own his name from south on its own terms. Which is great. I just bought Julian Lennon's of allots on vinyl of for one ninety nine. I am. Exclusively at this point. Well, and I'm thinking of doing the album and finally just, yes, waiting until the end of summer to get the, this version out, you should do that. Yeah, cause I will listen to it more than I am. Okay. That just for that. Jimmy says Jimmy edition of Jimmy deluxe version of the record. We'll watch to make twenty bucks. Vinyl. Let me say a little Garin cockerel over quickly, Garin cockles over. There.

"How. I'm back. Record on that one. I don't wanna go if you like that. And maybe Mona Lisa mad her perk, too. Fennel else. I think you know, if I was going to classify my favorite music from. Seventy to seventy five I put Ellen John at the very top of it would. Yeah. Tiny dancer and goodbye yellow brick road. And all that's the glasshouses album. Right. That's Billy Joel. Billy Joel one thinking. I don't know. I don't know. I hate Hilton. No. I'm just kidding piano, man. We didn't start the fire. These are some of the. What's your sign? But that whole lake when he was sort of doing. I mean, he calls it sort of country music period. But when he started throwing in to Qatar against the piano, and was using pedal steel and, and those kind of elements as I don't think there's any better music and think human being ever made better music than that. And that includes the Beatles stuff and I put in same quality, and I in honestly, Bernie top, and his genius. And a really a great writer and you know, anything that isn't Bernie toppings contribution in its own John scientist. I, I can feel the call the difference right? Yeah. Lion? King's. He did well at that stuff. I mean that's a yeah, that's another animal. But on. But yeah. Listenable. Yeah, that's a tough go. Yeah. Bernie top. And I mean he just I mean, the lyrics are important to me. And, and I think it makes a difference in town, that work is a guy that doesn't how to write music in any way, shape or form where it's like in, in that case, Bernie top and writes the lyrics and Elton writes the music, right? And supposedly like one will bring the lyrics to, and then he writes, music around it, or sometimes and, as you know, this have got this music, right, leery right? How how, how do you how does your mind melted that I can't? I can't figure it out at all. I can't even form the sentence. To say, how does it? How do you collaborate? Like that is a musician like with with others by yourself. You're not together. Oh, well, like your buddy, Christian Bush, let's say he had, hey, hey, I got this music, I want you to write the lyrics. How do you or what you did for the what do you got through song? We're like, really open minded about it. Like we he and I like I will literally literally like right? A little piano, part and say, hey, I got this. What do you think what does the sound like to you? I'll texted as voice message over to him and he said, like we did this with a song recently, he's I think this is a Christmas song. But I think it's too let's let me take the first half and I'll put lyrics to in, like melody to it and you take the second half, and we split the song into and got to songs out of it, and, and then you know with Christian because he is constantly on the move, and he writes, like three hundred songs here, but only like five of them see the light of day. He, he will let me just go off and finish. Whatever it is. We started working on because he's, you know, he's on to the next writers meeting. He wants his finger, many writing pies's he can get. And that's because it's, it's really a numbers game for him for me. It's like everything. I create which is more late twenty thirty songs. I just wanna be great so spend hours and hours and hours and hours, writing twenty songs, though, spend the same amount of time writing three hundred and so it's, you know, it's a different business. Really for what he's doing because he's in the country music pop world, right in, I'm in the, the singer songwriter, folk world and, you know, so we just mentioned, by the way, part. I thought it on Kesse or charity events..

"So why aren't we doing that? Go to a better theaters. Absolutely do that. Because the Pantages eight suck where were you sitting I was sitting row. Again weight off to the right. They call that stage left and threat. We were the second row of that Robey. Well it's row end. At that point, it's kinda starts. A little bit back. Because my theory was if you're close at the Pantages that's better. But maybe you hear the orchestra too much where the girls were they uptight were closer than me and one thing over. They were like left and they loved it. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Danielle liked it. Oliver liked it. I mean, I think oh yeah. That's the that's the other thing. So to Oliver was into it. He wasn't now that said. When the sound is that muddy you can't follow the story very well because. Yeah, you can't understand why is this guy? Why are these two men yelling at each other? It's muddy Zoe was like always had to explain a couple plus things to tour. But I don't know that that's one hundred percent the sound. Honestly, I think there's parts of it that are like it's just a weird plot. Like it's just jumping. Although if you don't understand that, you know, that it jumps ahead many years once they show the title. Right. But then it jumps again. Yeah, absolutely is it's confusing. Then jumps the shirk. All right. Is Paul is here is ticket time out yet who would a private gig. Is that what you're doing the weekend? I did a show in San Diego private kid and corona del mar, which was really nice. It's like near Long Beach like halfway between here in San Diego. And, and, and then I ran up to Big Sur day, sir. I do I love it up there. You wrote the what song the speed of trees, isn't that. Wow. Man. Jimmy superfan. Yeah. It's kinda scary. I mean I had to be reminded of that. Yeah. Thank you, nothing else. That, you know what I also I think about you all the time when, when you said a thing really just understated. Dammit Amana middle of San hobble. Hobble and help that mic off all the salt and pepper. Real good on your live album where you talk about the. Who it's not the guy on the plane. But it's a guy who is committed to the, the, the Beatles. Look, he's got the Beatle boots. They're cutting you like nuts. I'm gonna mangle it but you do what you just go in that. So that's the goes made a commitment. Like thirty years after you should be wearing that outfit. But the way you said it was so, so whenever I see a guy who's either big into the steam punk or into some thing like still like that guys made the commitment. He's like, yeah. So I never go back never go back because he's committed. I there's this guy that you see on a regular basis guy who wears tank top with two short shorts with a baseball cap and a mustache, and like. It's it's not just him going around the country. Many of that guy. That's an avatar on one choice. Retired maybe Elliot's half a glitch in the matrix. That guy just keeps popping up that guy more often than I should. It's like more than one of you decide that the look you want. It sounds the way you're describing it as kind of sounds like David cross in arrested development. The short shorts and the monster. A little more leg. Tim Simon's build okay from veep. Yeah, more that build, but with a with the stash and then at the head. Mercury kind of look. No. No. Not imagine next time you see this guy, take a picture. So we can. Okay. I mean, I think I know what you mean. It is sort of a hipster. It's risk of fending. It's like hipster gay literally just gonna say that. Yeah. Then you say 'cause you're a gay man, you can get away hipster. K Nike just quoting unit Vance. All right Ellis. Paul is brought to Qatar, we're gonna probably or some new tracks the, the new album, the stories others suitcase. Which I have I got a little little suitcase came along with it. Awesome..

"Like bluer bluer, mind. And then she listened to the, the cast recording a million times. So the songs got engrained in her brain at a at a at a formative age, just like anything like if you listen to an album, one hundred times, you're gonna love it, and, and other you like it or not trust me Ellis, Paul live four thousand times that shit look in the wind blow we get it. What you have to like it too, to listen to that many times. But then it just becomes part of your DNA. I think so for her it's just like going to a concert of a band that she's loved her whole for me. It's like going to concert for a band that I enjoy four songs in the rest of it. I want to rip my ears off because I hate it so much. I just don't enjoy like the songs I like I like, but it's not enough to overcome the fact that I'm not emotionally aged with it at all. I just can't. Didn't like tangents much. You did. That of that music becoming part of your DNA. Is that chemical or? Yes. The funniest thing this guy said the six years, he's been here. You're welcome. Gary. Thank you. All right, listen. Let's take a break. I'll give you my view. Very quickly, the Pantages sucks. Sonically hard to understand understand. The orchestra's louder than the singers. And then when, when the singers are finally, when it's a slow number like, oh, great. Now I could hear this guy and isn't he terrific, the sound sucks at the Pentagon. So Danielle, I've decided what we're gonna do since it takes thirty five minutes to drive to Hollywood. Anyway, wait until the goes to Orange County and drive the forty five minutes because it's the same company, he, I didn't know it was going to be there to goes, it usually goes pen, Tegas, Phoenix, then for some reason, back to Orange County. So why aren't we doing that? Go to a better theaters. Absolutely do that. Because the Pantages eight suck where were you sitting I was sitting row..

"Little more salt again. You want to join us Paul, you got to go slow L LSU don't know. There's about my mother-in-law, and my, my wife doesn't impression of my mother-in-law using salt, and it is. With no exaggeration. It's basically you can. So it's basically. If it's if this is the salt shaker anyway, Honey. And it goes everywhere and it's and I'm again, that's no exaggeration might wife does a great pressure, so they were over yesterday for mother's day. And for some for some reason, I chose to switch seats with my mother-in-law yesterday, usually she sits to my right? And I said, you know what would you be Danielle from others to mothers, sit together and I'll be over here with Walter. And, and I forgot that my mother is right handed, my mother-in-law's, right handed also again, has no bubble. So all of a sudden, her elbows on my plate. Judy surly. You see the four feet to your left of table. You should be sitting. She's right next to me. And then here, it's literally Danielle and Oliver, I all make eye contact with, because like the salted movable. And first of all, again, the arm is here. And then go we all look and here. His time. So which. So that happened yesterday that reminds me of the last supper for some reason. I don't know why does it remind you of to spill salt at the last supper, that sort of thing taste buds for going before, I guess, was the real betrayal. All right. All right. L is polished here. But we got a check. Let's, let's take a, I have to know though met before we take a quick break. You had a busy day yesterday. You went to Disneyland to begin with which has been nana's on a mother's day was busy on mothers day. Okay. So you did that. And then was it a matinee? No, it was an evening. Les Miserables six thirty. Now you I warned you do not be late signs. We were on time. What was the family's review or you saw it Saturday night? So I feel like you should I wanna know what you think I sought go in order. We're working backwards. All right. You didn't like it. Well, I bought tickets to tickets for Lisa myself as a Christmas present to the show. And so now it's my so it was going to be the two of us. I've never seen. It's one of her. Favorite shows seen. You saw the movie and you hated the move all the movie movie of that year. But most you hate most fans of the show, hate the movie. So I was like, well, let me give the show a chance. Eight hated the movie too. And she loves the, the show so but then we were like, well, Zoe kind of wants. She wanted to see it to my daughter, who's who's ten. And, and so at the last minute, we found like a pretty inexpensive single seat. So I took the single-seat. Let mom, where's that single-seat at by the way, who is orchestra left Roe v on the floor? Yeah. Take it was, it was sixty nine up taught my brother. You found a seventy dollar floor seat. Yeah. Believable, haricot. Like a day before the show. There are singles for most shows at the Penn teaches you can find that for a single seat. So I was sitting by myself, they were sitting together. They loved it. I mean, look, you saw to the performances were insane, everybody except maybe one person, I thought was all off the when I hear you think that, okay? I think you know, it's not that maybe it's not that striking. But I think I do. Yeah. Lady. Yes. And awful right like a sore thumb in the middle of this one will production. I didn't I was trying really hard to enjoy it at that point in the show. So don't like to show. I don't like the show. I can now definitively say. All right. I don't get it. I don't know why.
