The receiving barn and the story. That that i got was that the horse ran away from ellis park and there was a barn. Ellis park bless. Her bolton bossy was in the dang barn fire. This is just bad danielle. that is a very bad day. She's got burns down her neck shoulders. Weather's in back and she's in and riddle and she is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries. Run down the freeway and people were videoing her as they were going and like the video i saw was somebody was like. Oh my god look at that horse in the speed off like stopping help do something but normal horse person. I guess can't think of something like that. I was thinking. What would i do if i saw horse running on the freeway. I guess i'd probably try to get in front of them and solely start to slow down like an outrider redo the horse like all the things happened in my brain what would what actually transpired if i saw this but who knows what you would do in that situation hell. I'd probably be like can't take the wheel trying to grab a bridal you know but bless her she and then she was in the dank burn fire. i swear. I said this on monday. That i feel like maybe she ran away because she knew it was coming to american. Tell gravy maybe we need to..

"She is and i would love to owner obviously. She's made over a half a million dollars in her career. I just think she's a good philly. Not a great philly. The problem is i'm not sure who would beat her in this spot. Maybe number three midnight obsession is on the improve. Maybe number six leader of the band but when it comes down to it it just kind of looks like crazy. Beautiful a little better than this bunch. And she's going to have pace to run at. She likes to come from off the pace. So i'm taking the short price. I'm not betting but crazy beautiful for me. I mean i tried. I promise you i tried. I looked and i looked. I looked the other problem is i. Don't really have an exact. I'd wanna that on. I don't trust the rest of these. And i think that's the ultimate reason i couldn't pick against this philly She's gonna be two five other ridiculous more. Why can i get six to five. Where can i lock in. Sixty five Yeah she just looks too tough And again she's she's hickory. Ellis churchill keeneland gulfstream churchill. Santa anita now delaware park. And it's one thing you learn about being around dentist. There's no reason dwell on the negative. Well, the the positive here sixty five thousand dollars as a Keeneland yearling sitting on go, and this is out of the more than ready mayor setting on ready bread by Wednesday and talk a little bit you and I have discussed these Ellis Park maiden races and between you and Kenny mcpeek and Steve Asmussen and and it seems to me that buff Bradley was one of the first people establish a beachhead with a good maidens at and you you know at Alice during the summer. When you looked at this horse and you have to think to yourself, you said the longer the better. Wins at five furlongs and was part of an entry that day and he won by open links. The difficulty here Dale was trying to speculate whether you know the stretch out you know going all the way to a mile. was going suit him and there were other horses that had you know had gone. Actual routes including midnight Bourbon He'd gone a mile twice and and You also had who was it dreamers disease for Diadora. WHO WE'RE GONNA mile on the grass breaking his maiden. So it was a little tough to speculate the the kind of. Stretching out that the horses that had gone short including Nacho Qarase's horse who you know the to the two sprints it seemed to me that he was very vulnerable, but I couldn't figure out. Warm favorite probably would have been seven, two, four, two, one because you know if you remember it charlotte dead and Adele were still healthy until on the door betrayal at that time. Just there, there are a lot more prospects I think than have made it to the September Derby. Did you have a new shooter art collector who wouldn't of made the Derby otherwise I think he might be the big x factor I agree with you The one thing I'd say about art collector is I. thought he ran really hard in the Ellis Park Derby and I thought he had to be pressed the entire way. I still went off the. Was Gasping for the wire at the end. But I just I wonder between those two you know kids I had much easier prep race going into the Derby and so I wonder about that art collector also hit more is more speed type and the thing I like about this law and I'm not like I said, I'm not looking better afford a five shot in a seventeen field, the derby not as if. I'm recommending people that him but the thing that I would say is you know he kind of makes his own trip. I think horses like that. You know are much better bets especially as favorites who can start the pay who can press the pace if it's too slow fit and make one run I think that is his best asset is that he doesn't he doesn't appear to be compromised ever and I think that's such a key thing. especially a big field like that are.

I don't care. I'm just kidding. I really don't. After all we've been through stick, like put put a big thing on my forehead. I don't care. I just don't wanna have to reset a gosh darn password ever again. Don't even get me started to keep track of all this insurance company every time I go on there, and I type in the password after I reset it, and it goes, there's been a problem for you need to reset your password. I'm like, but I just did. And now I change it again, and I'm running out of passwords and go anytime. Okay? Can we go somewhere? And you all right? Is everybody all right in here? No, but I'm going to pretend like I'm okay. Good. What's next? For the purposes of this segment? We are going to Florida. Really? Not that exciting. But I broadly yes, it is. It's always especially when I tell you, we're going to penal. It's part three favorite part. I know because you know there's going to be some junk involved and I'm going to tell you always junk in penal office. You can park your penal. Listen. This Florida County wasn't that a movie starring Al Pacino in the early seventies Seen Ellis Park? Sure. It also sounds like a very Manilow song. Or Donna Summer. Hey, now is far may be a duet. Do they ever do it? Do it. Okay. I'm telling you, about 40 year old Brian Duffy. Now Brian Duffy is Come, okay, because he did something that turned him crazy. Sad of cool. So he goes to a 7 11 Actually, I'm glad you said cool. So he goes to a 7 11 when we're going to be able to say very soon. I mean, hopefully I don't know how I feel about getting a Slurpee right now. Out of a shared no thing, but Months. This did happen last month. Wow. So slurping machines are open for business in Florida. Surprise. And this 40 year old Brian Duffy did something with a Slurpee machine that earned him crazy. Stupid status. Oh, jeez. Did he do the nasty with it? I wish because that would be a much funnier story to tell. I think that did the dirty with with this. Well, I also would like to determine a baby. I get it. I get feeling those feelings for something. No, he what he did do though. Wass Hey, got really angry and he took a full ass Slurpee. Container. A cup a full cup of Slurpee. It's a left answer. Whatever. I don't sit directly in front of the TV. I like a little little bit of an angle, so it's more so I'll have to write, so I used the left hand. Get the get the clicker at the TV. And, Yeah, I've been be bopping and flopping all over the place today. Ah, little N b, a a, a little major league baseball. We got a big court race coming up in the next 10 or 15 minutes, much like yesterday, which we had to travel is to talk about. Ah, that was well in the books. By the time I got on last night, 10 o'clock Eastern got another Kentucky Derby prep, Actually, the last Kentucky Derby prep. And it could be telltale. If some more jumps up and run to big raced. His law is going to be the favorite. I not even beginning to question it, but someone else could stamp themselves. They made your contention contender in the Ellis Park Derby, which is coming up in the next 10 or 12 minutes. And they are I'm going at Harding Park out in San Francisco by the bay in the 102nd p D. A And the course looks tough. When it's not playing that. Maybe these guys just playing great cause his birdies galore all over the place. Ah, lot of early scoring and the guys who were In the lead or just moving up to leave leaderboard to Ah, taking strokes off to get anyone who was looking to case from three or 45 or six strokes back. Pretty dejected because you need to go and shoot like a 62 to get to the number. That's probably going to win this if you started today at minus five, with D. J. On top at minus nine. "Concern about He is breeding to be honest to go a mile and 1/4 in the Derby race the leak article had written. I commented it looking at into mischief schools on He's got a decent crop. Now he's had a lot of winners, of course, but At 9 to 10 furlongs in dirt Road graded stakes, his record soul's record going in with a 4 58 If I recall sits five or 59 now, and two of those were own nail, who won the Ohio Derby in the Oklahoma journey. Another was audible, winning the Florida Derby. But once you get above nine for long his balls to nine of that kind of stamina. They just don't seem to have it. So it was a game ever. No question. He got a strong everybody stick figures is looking at was a 109 not as good as the 1 13 Echo base figure earned in the sham back in January, but certainly an improvement off the Sandia Derby. And the San Felipe A. So he's going in the right direction. I just wonder whether you could get a mile and 1/4. Sam. Well, we had a preparation earlier at Keelan and art collector was very impressive. Yeah, I collect Iran a really good race. He drew off his infirmity example of what happened this year with the covert delayed Derby collector would have never been mature enough to get to the Derby on the first weekend in May. He's really improved nicely, I think again looking at trying to find the decoration, the figures for three year olds. It's not the top few, but it's very good with a 106 or seven, but he's still improving, and he certainly bred It's really an article about his breeding. He spread back to Ah ah, 66 generation to a number of tremendous Horses Foundation to run very well in as we move further towards the new convicted early So our next big stoppers Saratoga. I believe August 8. Who are you looking for a run, and I assume there's a law be there. Yeah, I haven't read the Who's going to run in the race. That is the law number of horses ran the Peter Pan Stakes, which is just this week. Ah, when they checked that real quick that ran very well in the razor coming up. Those would be horses such as Right now that Peter Pan was running this opening day country grammar, and Cara Cora, who ran one, too. In that race, I expect them to try and come back and then from further because you're getting close now to the fact gay one more race in for the Derby, there's a race at Del Mar the shared belief And there's not a whole long races left on that schedule. Yeah, And of course, it was interesting. Yesterday was fun, the first very staged around the country where They were actually fans in the stands Now it was limited to 5000 but that was pretty good. Yeah, Mom. It has tremendous day, they said, I think ah ah ah record or a 2nd 2nd best of all time of $20 million. It's been really embraced you and at the same thing. That's tremendous betting Fans are really supporting the product right now across the country, and it's been great to see and certainly nice to see some interviews with the few owners at Saratoga on the TV show. Coming up. Yeah, I was just checking this to share. Police takes his August 1st Travers, you mentioned Theeighty Ellis Park Derby is 1/9 and they're actually talking about maybe chisel running in that one could really each year, But I really think he's going to stay in New York Kush You never know. And then they August 15th the last prep Is the Pegasus takes that moment, which is just a minor race, but it does have some points the equivalent of what the rumor election. Khun used to be a Keeneland, just 20 points the where, but the Travers 100 the share believe his 50 The Allspark Kirby is 52. The winner in the Pegasus, 26. Someone's on the bubble they can get in and in the division in case fans aren't paying attention. The new list just came out. Chisel off course leads authentic now. Second Honore P. He's God, of course, plotted together stop on New York Traffic, who almost won the race yesterday. And our collectors of 100 those air the the main ones, Doctor Post who ran well respectively in third, but I'm not sure they might go forward with him and modernised also ran on Lee Show. So in the Peter Pan Those are the main contenders. Couple of hours needed their country grammar who I just mentioned you won. The Peter Pan has 50 so you probably would want to run one more time and get two more points to ensure his spot in the Derby. Well, A few weeks ago, we had Bob Baffert with undefeated horses and then Ah, and that was a Dow fracturing. Ah, fracture. Out for the best the his career and then Charlotte and, um not only missed out on the opportunity, the purse to the bad test Is AH headed up on the sideline and ah ahs you mention you're not sure about getting a distance for authentic so backwards. Gotta reload the situation. Yeah, well, Rach, I think I'm sure he's not going to pass up the opportunity. I was talking from a handicap in perspective. I'm not sure you can get 10 furlongs on DSO when the race general, Of course, she runs a kind of race. Did Mike Smith fight him? And also I'm jacking that sold out his speediest again. You never know. It probably doesn't have it in the dirt week. Never has where a horse can get away with. Slower third quarter in 23 9 23 9 25.7 But it is possible that could happen. You never know what kind of speed there says losses so good right now, But you have to improving horses in our collector and Honore P Okay, Let's take a look of some hand happening for today and turn our attention. First off up to Saratoga, which, uh, As a nice little stake race today, and they're going to run 10 bases, Uh, beginning about One o'clock, 10 o'clock our time. Yeah Church. I was having great meat so far knock wood. Everything good jockeys were kind of sequestered. The colony is the colony. It's fixed. I think 20 to the races have been fantastic yesterday and getting a lot of good fields Another great card today. Start in the sixth grade here, which is a $50,000 claimer. Two miles down. The grass should be fast and firm, probably hot. He didn't exit in the Easter up in 100 right now, about 93 94 with the genetics of 100 of you mentally, But everything's been good at taking care of the horses nicely and in the sixth race. I like a horse's price to start talking about the Contenders Number 10. Noble thought this horse with 10 wins eight seconds, 5/3 and 33 starts 1000 bank five minutes four seconds in 18 turf races, so half his turf races have been first or second, but it was 15 to 1. And I'm not sure why. I just want a $40,000 cleaning.

"Indiana Derby. July, Eleven, Haskell. July Sixteen Peter Pan. July eighteen! Haskell folks. You! Know what I messed up. Dry Aid is the Derby July eleven is the grass. Right Sixteen Peter, pan. July eighteen the Haskell so in you know the space of a week and a half. You've got Indiana Derby the BLUEGRASS. The Peter Pan which has basically gone to the early meet prep at Saratoga for the. You know for the Jim. Dandy, which will now be the end of the meat and then you've got the hassle itself. That's a lot of races for the same horses in a real short amount of time. and I think it's GonNa. It's GonNa Dilute. A. Lot of those fields I I, would you? You would think you know to have that. Many racist for that kind of that group of horses. Nudity seen a pretty significant attrition rate. From this group so it'll be interesting to see who all in running and all those different races. Because you're not, you're not gonNA. Get anybody running back. Even if you ran in the Indiana Derby and wanted to run in the hassle, you know ten days. That's not happening, so it's a very very compressed schedule for the same group. Horses all with. Point towards the dirty. Agreed and Then then you get into into August. The and there's plenty of others that. Between this Ellis Park opportunity and the shared belief is going to end up for the West. Coast sources There's there's no end and it's GonNa. Be Interesting to see what it does to the points We'll talk about potential participant actually and the shared belief in a second Jay, but before we talk about you know those other Derby Watch topics, we should properly include cafe farrow, who is only gotten a couple of tests? It mentions from his win and you know the Japanese. They're they're gonNA. Come and that worst looked awfully good. If for those that haven't seen it. and. That's why I wrote my Derby Watch feature on them this week. not only is most the tape of his race on Sunday, but if you watch his previous race, it's pretty impressive in a different manner the race this past week, the Unicorn stakes. He showed good speed. And then kicked away won by five lengths. In, a previous race. The highest got left. And you know may sort of Arroz de on the far turn secretary on the first of the of the preakness, like move to just go around everybody take the lead and hold off the late runners and still win by fairly comfortable margin, though not not nearly the ramp that he won by this past weekend. Even American bred horses. He's by American feral out of a more than ready mayor. He's obviously got dirk but style speed is. He's won all three of races on dirt. The last two I'm left handed courses. I think you just he passes the Eit says to me. He is a real horse. He's not. Some sort of a plot or like master fencer? Lonnie, I think if he comes these far and away the most talented. horse that will have come from Japan. There's only been free in the twenty five years. Since the first, being going back to ski captain in in Ninety Five. This horse just based on watching his races against the top quality is there in the style that he has? I think he's a legitimately good horse and belongs.

"Layoff would've bet I was hoping was the Churchill. Downs Handy can okay all right and you know what's next for majority of these sources We're obviously in a wait and see pattern with who gets back to running in what is available when we do get this win. And if we do get back to running way and this this was one of these horses and you know you are are involved in these conversations. Dale and Kenny mcpeek and so many sort of Kentucky Kentucky base types that they viewed volatile at Ellis Park and in fact in looking back at it now that was some maiden race volatile. Insa NITA's Mr Dumas Winnipeg Sake keeping a classy ice fear. There were five there. Were one two three. There were four next out winner. Steve and then Mr Dumas became a stay course. Don't know if he's noticed the Kentucky has the horses out the VEDIC tour where they're at I think that you know you saw the two year. Old Wins the maximum. You know that we're training there. And through the summer I mean Kentucky where the horses are aware that so with that the level of competition. You're talking about so.
Marsalis jazz family patriarch dies of virus complications, son says
"Ellis Marsalis the pianist educator patriarch of the most celebrated family in jazz died Wednesday in New Orleans he was eighty five his eldest son the saxophonist Branford Marsalis said his father died of complications from the coronavirus Ellis and his wife Delores raised six sons four of them became jazz musicians including Wynton del fail and Jason he was also a mentor to Harry Connick junior and generations of other musicians when Tompkins is host of the program music inside out which airs on W. W. and in New Orleans when I mean this is just such a huge loss it is a tremendous loss for us in the world and for music lovers everywhere actually Ellis Marsalis was committed to being a teacher and she wants to be a musician so he can help people all over the world and Louis Armstrong we appreciate modern and you know the Ellis park center here in the night or are they called him a master educator you know he came up in the nineteen forties and the nineteen fifties when modern dress had no money in the world nothing there were no schools but by the end of his life you know nearly every jazz musician who's from here or the study had a story to tell about how Ellis Marsalis inspired we're talking about Terence Blanchard thank you your contact book now thank you for that finally Nicholas Payton list goes on and not including of course Marcella they have wonderful careers at I was gonna ask I mean how much did he pressure them to go into into music and jazz in particular well you know what I spoke with him he you know he said that he never rule breaking news out of it you know he said he would wait at if the music and if they wanted to learn to keep with that by wanting them I know pointing out certain artists that they should be listening to and he was also very good at keeping brutal but very useful advice to players you know and that runs an internet connection here but always remark on that in interviews you know come quite famous explain elements helps with with top but but you know but they were the better for it and and obviously carry on again and my fellow spokesman center named Ellis Marsalis center for music named after the great teacher you know Ron you know every great jazz musicians have one thing in common and that is that the person is equally our front continue elsewhere what's that and you know if you ever
Racing Without Gambling
"I'm guessing you've heard of the Kentucky Derby Abi to this race that's run usually early in May we haven't yet talked about the Kentucky Derby this year but that's about to change as we're finally starting to get into rounds of prep races that will winnow the field down to twenty for the run for the roses on May the second so to help us do that. We bring in voice. We haven't heard on this show for too long and and that's Jonathan Listener who writes for horse racing nation. Welcome back Jonathan. So before we get into a few specific horses. WHO's impressed you the most so far on the triple triple crown trail? I think Dennis moment to start the list. Dentists moment strikes to lead right at the top of the stretch at Delta. Two lanes lead our three lately for the final final furlong. Dennis this moment with five length lead scabbard with clear sailing up the second but Dennis moment kicks off the road at the Kentucky Derby in a big way. He barely moved a muscle. That we we have it. RESTRAINING NATION DOT COM user generated Kentucky Derby contender rankings and despite his trouble that experience career dentist moment has not left that number. One spot. You talking about a grade three winner. Who was going to be the favourite the Breeders Cup Juvenile L. Stumbles out of the gate? You know he could be undefeated if you look back at his debut he lost his jockey was really no fault zone so he has the two losses and between between them. He's sandwich to really really nice. Looking victories including his debut at Ellis Park they won by like nineteen and a quarter lengths. I think it was so there's a lot of potential there and he's one that I feel like every once in a while you hear about a derby prospect before they make their debut and then we kind of latch onto them I wanna say it was probably roadster roadster last year because Baffert said he could be his next justify American Farrow and obviously it didn't work out there but they'll Romans has talked up Dennis's moment since before he he ran a race. And so we're we're kind of going to the same thing here As far as a couple of other runners eight rings also out of the Breeder's cup juvenile. He's a really interesting. One didn't really run his race. You know the last time we saw him but I think the way he's going to be handled this season. You have to keep paying attention trained by Bob Baffert. He's he's GonNa run him in the rebel at Oaklawn. And then the Arkansas Derby potentially there as well and then another one that you know kind of on the fence about that you know. He's got a lot of towns. Is Max `field scratched from the Breeders Cup Juvenile. He had a little bit of an issue. There it turns out we found out a couple of weeks after that that he had had a minor surgery for a bone chip. But he's not even in serious training now. Well he's he's he's apparently galloping No works yet and so I think they'll have to do the to A. Ah kind of schedule where you hope to get race out of them and then you have a more serious race which I would expect to be something like the blue grass stakes if everything works out well and he's undeniable town. I'm and I think he's GonNa win a major race somewhere down the road. I don't know if it's going to be the Kentucky Derby and then the other one I feel like it's gotten all the conversation is independence hall at at Independence Hall now makes his move. Independence Hall is the leader getting away to lead by two prints of Pharaohs has moved up on the outside. It's Bourbon Bay Independence All L. linked and a half as they come for the quarto prints of Pharaohs on the outside Bourbon Bay. It is independence hall with the lead and now a furlong to the finish Jose Ortiz showing them the whip now goes to work on independence hall. WHO has a three likely? Just a sixteen to the finish at. It's the constitution called Independence Hall. Tailwind Jerome by four Knights won the national stakes by open links came back and won the jerome. It was a little more workmanlike. But he's going to go. Oh into the new year here as another one of the favorites and if I could talk about one more that has sort of attracted my attention a little bit. It's this ancient warrior horse. I don't know what his path is going to look like. He's Jerry Hall android or for trainee. And if you follow racing at all the last year or so. You'll know that. He's SORTA become embattled. Dan from the strike. Group's tracks out in California But I of all these horses that have won maiden races and we'll be going to the stakes. I want to watch that one closely. He's moved him over to Oakland Park. We should see him in an allowance. Race coming up at the beginning of February and then from then on he should be on the Derby trail else. That's one that that I definitely want to see more of well. You mentioned Bob Baffert. And it's tough to talk about the Kentucky Derby Trail Without Bob Baffert and he has a lot more than the one you mentioned. There's thousand words who ran a big race in the low sal futurity. I'm a Roger Federer Fan but you have to give it up for an doll who is also ambassador trainee. Who looked really really good? So I mean you know Bob Baffert certainly knows how to get horses to the Derby mean how many of these prospects aspects of pan out. I see a path for all of them. To be honest. You know and we also have mentioned authentic. It's still authentic coming to the three the eight ball. He's been in control throughout leads by a length and a half to uncaptured hero. It's all authentic as they pass the quarter pole and turned for home authentic and complete Khaliq Command turning it on. He's in front by sex with a furlong left to go. Zimba Warrior and Assault Coast as authentic is putting on a show. Here is a little green gene shifting about but long gone authentic strolls home in the sham. He'll win by about eight lakes green. It's Grafton stretch and just kept going there and another extremely impressive Horse Nidal I. I wonder about him a little bit. You know we've only seen him one time on Sunday and that six and a half for a long race he he looks like Dortmund Ortmann if you go back to two thousand fifteen big horse. That wasn't extremely fast out of the gate but once he got into stride he went straight to the pace and never really let up there. Yeah it's not not really the kind of horse you want to win the Derby but I think you could get to the Derby and then thousand words certainly has every reason to move forward his last race. I think they had probably a little bit the too much blinker on him and he ended up going head to head with that no door that ran in the Breeders Cup juvenile second. I think it's SORTA legitimize both of those horses that they ran so closely in the future. But I think thousand words is probably at least a couple of lengths better then a no door. He just probably didn't see him in the stretch until Flavian Kinda guided him out and it's like Oh with the blinker. The horse realized he had something to run against a win on. So I guess when you talk about horses that I'm looking at in the new year. Thousand Words is definitely on that shortlist list to Jonathan Listener of racing. Nation is with us here on the gate. We've talked a little bit about the Breeders Cup juvenile which was a topsy turvy race. You had three big horses that we've mentioned into all had their problems that day. We haven't talked about the horse. Who Wanted Storm the court for trainer Peter Martin and that would be a very popular win in the racing business? As you know what chance do you give storm the court to back up what he did in the juvenile. Oh probably not much not a lot of black type in the family. I'm not sure if there's any black type from Stanley I'd agree wise. And then you know he was obviously the beneficiary of other horses stumbles in that race You Know He. He goes gate to wire was not really pressed a whole lot and at the same time. I think they took the blinker. They put their blinkers on. I'm sorry and I have not a fan of lemon. That put blinkers was on a horse at that point in their career. I feel like you should be taken them off so that they can relax. Prepare to go a little bit longer. I think that race and the circumstances just all all came together for storm the court and allowed him to upset that race. It's forty five to one. Whatever he ended up that day I'm sort of in agreement? I think with everybody else that the the the better Derby Derby prospect was no door and second in that race going forward. I want to mention because these races have just happened. Enforceable label for Mark Cassie. Who is not missed? A beat after a son norm went out on his own. He had been his father's chief assistant and enforceable. Really good winning the Lecomte. But we haven't seen too many Lecompte winners. Go on to run well in the Kentucky Derby. Where do you put me as a tap it colt out of a dixie union in marriage? The breeding is good. I put him a really high on my list. As far as forces will be in the Derby but I would not put him on my list of forces that I think can win the Derby and I say that because of his running style you know if we go back to almost every year that the point system has been effect and obviously gets rid of those pure your sprinters. It's the horses that can put themselves near the front at the beginning of the race and keep that pace up and never be caught by closers that tend to win the Derby enforceable enforceable is one of those closers. It's inevitable that he's GONNA run into traffic problem you know. I almost hope he sneaks into the Derby and everybody overlooks. Because I feel like he's the kind of horse could come into the super factor. That's probably going to be a really common line of thought. Though I mean I'm thinking a few months out but the soup perfect You know in the era of a favorites winning the Derby is as remain because it's pretty high minimum of really profitable wager for people nonetheless so yeah for me. He's a super effective player. I I I think he's GonNa be okay as the distance is longer obviously is a full brother Mohammed and a half years day. There's a lot there in the pedigree just really impressive on paper and it was good to see him run as well as he did you know He. He broke his maiden at nine furlongs last summer at Saratoga and it looks like okay. Here's a real two year old and I you know he ran into you. Go into a little bit shorter and the breeder security at keeneland and Max field because two things came together and got him beat but he's definitely better horse than he showed that day and it was good to see him back it up the trump

Handicapping the Breeders' Cup
"It is finally here the world championships the Breeders Cup for the thirty six time and for the tenth time at Santa Anita it's time to handicap the world championship hip and for that we bring into our experts one we've had regularly and one for the first time we welcome back Ed Derosa of the brisket handicapping service and for the first time we bring in Molly Joe Rosen we followed her on twitter a lot it's good to finally bring her onto the show so again we said we're not going to handicap all of these races were GonNa pick the seven or so that we think have really good competition and will go with those and we'll start on the Friday card with the juvenile a race that has been diminished a bit with the defection of one of the early favorites Max field for Godolphin so we're really left with three big horses here to talk about Denis's moment the favourite eight rings and Scabbard Dennis's moment has been very consistent through his writer in his debut and then just missed a track record at Ellis Park can you really call a two year old and overwhelming favourite. What do you think here let's start with molly I think it's right open race I could not touch horse at eight to five not as you said not with two year olds you know making third and fourth fifth career starts I mean to me that just is crazy and I love him think he's phenomenally talented could wind up being the second coming of Secretariat obviously he's a freak of nature having won his to really his to start saying oh he's got that through the writer and the debut but you know he's one by twenty one lane I mean you can't knock a horse like that Dale is great with these types of horses he's prepped well he's looked great you know you take nothing away from him but eight to five in a eight Horsfield because not a MAC field scratch I can't touch a horse at eight five I do think it is a really wide open race I'm GonNa look at other horses you know take nothing away from eight rings also a horse who has done nothing wrong also worth who lost a job I do think a horse like scabbard for me is more interesting this is a horse who breaks his maiden by five then steps up and they had some has some learning to do and Eddie neely is great with these types of horses and I think if you're looking for price and you don't WanNa go towards one of the more so obvious sources for me a horse like Scabbard who's on the improve has really done nothing wrong in his career but you know seems to have maybe you have to overcome some some tendencies to find rebel trips of course to me like Scabbard is super intriguing? Ed What do you think well we're we're going to write off the rip because I'm all in on Dennis's moment and he's the only horse I'm using molly Jo Sung as praises appropriately and with the scratch AMAC's field unfortunately is is backers aren't even eight to five now so if that wasn't good enough for you Molly Joe I'm sure you're not gonna be happy with even money or six to five but the this horse You know the maiden win at Alice just blew everyone stores off so what can you say super professional in the Iroquois though defacto second career start I read got a handle for this horse got to test drive them so to speak and we've seen Dale ship out to the who've no at Santa Anita perform well with not this time it was second do horse I had a lot of respect for classic empire so I think he's early the horse to be an in a very competitive Friday car he's my big single day I'm with Molly I think scabbard had some trouble in finishing second today this is moment in the Iraq war and I think it's GonNa come down to those two I'm not discounting Dennis as moment but I think scabbard has to be more seriously considered than five to one lead move to the filly and mare sprint I'm really torn here about cafe when we get to the Saturday card I mean she won the Edgewood and the Miss preakness so maybe I'm not as impressed as other people are by the way she runs ed can she run her race from the rail She can for me either the bigger question and the rail is a question the bigger question is is shipping out west and she is not coming for a bar and that is it's been out there very long Dale with Dennis's moments that we talked about shipped out about a week ago see Asmussen's been there with his crew for seven her week so I am eager to see how horses on Friday to that hadn't chipped in versus the ones that have been there awhile local horses etc if I perceive a bias in that regard that might sway me offer as the favorite I will say on raw talent I absolutely think she is the best filly in this field for test was incredible energy titan or Churchill albeit against lesser was what you would want to see he coming into a race like this offer race like the test so I'm a believer but keeping an open mind and this is one of those cases where I am going to use information as it becomes available throughout the Friday card to see how liberal liberal I wanNA use her on Saturday molly what do you make of come dancing I'm not saying how do they poll she's got two and a Half Lake leaving don the destroyer next toward the inside at third special relativity first half of the year then the second half clearly has talent what do you make of her you know she's obviously you know a a really really lovely horses cool to see Carlos Martin on the big stage I I've known Carlos a real long time and he's just a phenomenal horsemen and She did have you know crazy good first half of the year her her win margins were certainly bigger flashier there was certainly more space there but running second to midnight visa in the VIPs you know other than that she's comeback her ballerina was beautiful her gallant bloom was beautiful I do worry a little bit about whether or not she can run in a straight I'm and that especially at Santa Anita we've seen over the years what was her name the Philly that ran second to beholder in the the distaff I wanNA say executive privilege we've seen horses who may not be able to run in a straight line not get there in time Santa Anita in the past and that concerns me a little bit when you do have other really consistent Phillies in here like FFA ed do you see attention long shot here in this race because I'm not loving come dancing I liked but don't love cafe what about dawn the destroyer will become a from the back and I guess you were saying you gotta see the Friday card to see whether anyone really can close at Santa Anita but what do you think about a long shot here that's actually and afterward oh so is this a matter where if you don't like the two favorites you chuck them and use them all I could see that as a strategy especially if you really where let's move to the turf to the mile not the dirt mile we'll get to the dirt mile let's go to the Turf Mile and here you've got to Phillies the headliners got stormy and Uni but now you've got circus maximus with a real European threat here it's not been the best year for eight and O'Brien really do you trust circus maximus here not in any way shape size or form and not at that price just in case you're wondering if I

"They had some big races in Kentucky but not at Churchill Downs not at Ellis park it was a place called Kentucky downs and when you watch these races it seemed like they were out in the middle of nowhere on a tour of course and it's gives you a little European feeling. but how do they get all this money to give away their yesterday they gave and races for three hundred thousand for seven hundred thousand and then we played Michael owners call of the million dollar race. tell us about Kentucky downs. okay well this was was actually a contract them some years ago called doing grounds and it wasn't wasn't terribly popular at that time and it eventually gonna went under and then them they revived it I wanna say five or six years ago now I think it re opened and Dave the key for them was getting an historical racing machines on site which are a lot like slot machines except they're based on mutual racing and I think they've got about seven hundred and fifty or so in the in the facility right now so they're open all year for simulcasting. then people come out and play the machines and then a lot of that money goes in their purse structure so yeah there we give out crazy crazy amounts of money look at today's cart there you have it god made races. actually races where the person is a hundred and thirty thousand dollars if you're at Kentucky bred. and then how many weeks to their run. well right now they just raise five days a year and it's spread over about two and a half weeks made a kind of an odd schedule so they're closing date this is the second weekend the ground and then they'll close on Thursday all right and of course Michael rona got the gig to call the race is there an sos thunder here Michael was somebody's outstanding terror forces. yeah you get Sir gets to deal with full field in a day I imagine it's a pretty challenging bank is that the track is not oval in addition it's got you know hills and vales of ups and downs to it but it's also kind of like an elongated paper clip is somebody scratched out so when they're on the backstretch you're quite a ways away from the stands yeah a I never really you don't really see the stands at a it's like they're running by themselves and you don't see any spectators. yeah now it's a it's a really interesting you name it and it is unique in American racing there's nothing nothing else quite like it the end the only Peter grace and it's there's no dirt track there whatsoever right in is actually located closer to. and Nashville than it is were at Lexington and Churchill. yeah they have benefited from from that location. Tennessee Intel very very recently didn't really have much in the way of legal gambling at all they recently approved sports betting that's some form I think I believe it's like on mobile but am anyway so that the Texas market that Tennessee market and ground national on that people had a place to get get to real quick and and if they wanted to have a gaming experience that was there their outlook let's take a look at today's car do you have a race to to you like. Kentucky dance yes. yeah one thing I would mention to listeners that normally this track please pretty favorable to closers but yesterday was no exception to that so minor stupid you really well so I would that I train dial in the early races and really pay attention to whether speeds holding or if if the closures are reverting to Norman and getting up in time. in one or Senegal in the first race it'll really help determine that is the number four Alisher from that can make peaks barn. it's got Julio Ortiz in the saddle and five two one morning line and it looks like the top speed in the race so fat or sketch out there and gallops then it might be another day to look for at courses on a right near the front. the other or so like in there is that worse actually shipping out from Delmar name chewing gum who's that moving from that Richard Mandela's barn to at bill Mott. and that Julian late Peru's writing and he's the three one morning line favorite. all right and race number one. yep I looked at the second race it's sad maiden special weight and I gotta say it looks like the total grab bag one thing I pay a lot of attention to it Kentucky downs is trainer connections and and jockeys also because since it's such an unusual lay out some trainers really seem to figure that out. you know without a alter their training methods to get ready for the lesson others not so much so so far in this particular meat that Joe sharp has been doing really well he's got three wins from ten starts and that Mike maker is historically been the leading trainer there George Arnold. red **** mark Cassie and Wesley world had two winners. so those here and some of the trainers I'd be looking for today and then them Starz jockeys go Florante your rue and Jose or to use or both that tied atop the jockey standings with five wins and then Tyler gap Leone's right by with four and Julie light grew as three so. keep in mind there. so I'm not gonna give you a horse in there I may see go if you're going to do a multi race leg that's a place to spread I would say for sure. in that third race I like that I got it down to two in there one is course number for order I think it's worries use and that's that train by Brenda Walsh and written by Adam that she's a. and the other or so I can there is Peru which is from Mike makers Barney and that in our Jose Ortiz in the saddle. go ahead. why do I say that with Peru and want one another factor look for is a horse to to one over the course before and he slips the bill there one one here last year. leave the D. track a you said he is owned by something old timers you're familiar with the name Winchell windchill donuts which was popular in. earn Winchell the father who founded the company and who passed on had a lot of that horses and one of the sources of the name don't the donut king and his son is you would tell me was the co owner of this racetrack Kentucky downs. yep you guys with Vegas connections bought the track earlier this year in March ability and Ron Winchell as you mentioned carried on his his dad's breeding and racing. rations. date date actually the breeding outside out and tacky I think in Lexington somewhere but he's been involved in the racing game for number years he was at calling often or a plaque and runner. so he's he's done pretty well since he took over and then bam. he said he went race there add that Kentucky dance a few times and and really enjoyed the experience and I thought it was gonna transforming racing in Kentucky so study better by the tracks so he enlisted another guy from yes Sir at more of more traditional gaming background a mark bell county and they are the new owners and experiencing their first to meet right now and by the way they had a record day yesterday in handle so people are catching on to it around the country and wagering on some outstanding forces an outstanding turf racing. all right let's continue with their race or two for Kentucky and then we'll get on to some other things. I got one more for the Kentucky downs and that's the eighth race and this is the D. G. oaks for the dealing ground oaks. and it said Mylan five sixteenths the rent rent some kind of unusual distances there. for a three year old fillies. that I got this one down to a couple of horses while at the rail orders indigo gin for loan hardy's Barnes. looks a cat got some pretty good speed so if speed is holding on that that will be definitely one to consider yeah he finished behind that favorite she finished behind the favorite last time out in the park or at at Arlington park. but dad I like the way she's developing and an eight speed holding on she if I could have a say here and then your Aptiva two favorites gonna be princess at Carolina from that can make peaks barn again with that Jose Ortiz at and that were set was runner up in the Packer at. comes in and really good form has has good speed figures and all everything it look for here other than to win over the tracks so we'll see how she likes that. I want to remind our debtors gates open at ten o'clock today and we're carrying all the races from Kentucky downs and they began will take their first race it to ten fifteen our time for betting on Kentucky downs all right. next up war also an opening day for Los Alameda owes they continue this week and and they'll be racing for a few weeks and then beyond the Santa Anita and then more Racine a Golden Gate today or they start at one o'clock down south and we start at one fifteen on this Sunday any thoughts and either Los elevators Golden Gate fields. yeah Lowe sal I took a look at the late pick for so go over that will last so that starts in race sex and that's a maiden maiden special weight race five and a half furlongs. sharpen up your your skills at five and a half furlongs because a run that distance a lot there. so you got some first time starters in here couple with a little bit of experience but it looks like this looks to me like the leg or you might be able to get a get a price home so I'm gonna spread out a bit in that race and use that to to reduce wild cat. three missed Johnny. for Nikki leaks. six maybe queen seven bell right now and eight Jody faster. and I think I left to out and I I feel okay about them leaving them out. bad then in the seven three sets of another five perhaps for long distances at sixteen thousand nine winners of two other than. I think. the. basically looks like a boils down to the number three shaken fries for Timmy Acteon. he's coming off a lay off so so you've been off since January and and. Kim doesn't necessarily crank up his horses for the first time back but if that or Sam. the step I got to speed the to take this one gate to wire. the other horses I looked at in their the number four from Hector Palmer's barn not everyone coming off a long layoff in also doing it now jointer dirt. but has run now. AS one over the races over the track in what was really a nice raise so he's not or if he's ready to go. I think he is definitely got a big chance and they're in and the one worst months heroes you know depending on how deep you want to go on your ticket that's another orders has some speed. in it bin carrots. flailing around looking for the right level instead. as a couple races that that may be could could could at this level will protect see on there. in the eight were at five and a half furlongs again this was for real eight thousand dollar starter allowance elected to wars bragging rights for trainer Gary Sherlock and Giovanni Franco writing the source may be coming from out of it cell on the data needed decent pace said that but it looks like there's enough speed to kind of set the table for in there and that that's gonna be my single on my ticket. and then in the nineties yeah that she knew the use it's another five and a half for all under age sixteen thousand claiming non lawyers to lifetime. two way gave for Kristen mall the three core let for Jorge pair bond..
