"Want to get out of that space. I Have Lynn rivers with me today. Lynn are you in mindfulness mode today. I'll always always. It's so great to have you on the show. What does mindfulness mean to you? Lyn Mindfulness means to me. Just honestly being present in every aspect of your life the moment you wake up stepping out of bed how you move through your day the things you witness the the things that you take in everything just being really present to it and accessing all of that information that it's cut that's coming forth the present moment well. Lynn rivers as a coach and a mentor and she uses. Nlp which is neuro linguistic programming to help people. She uses hypnosis and she's able to connect directly with the subconscious mind to make relatively quick and dependable shifts in the neurological system and she's able to relate so closely with people on a wide range of traumatic events and she's helped herself to overcome some real challenges in her own life including abandonment and and glagden sexuality issues and things like that. And so we're going to talk about so many of these different topics and I know one of the topics that has mentioned is is dealing and growing through an experience of having an alcoholic parent. So that's that's the case with you. Is it Lynn? You have an alcoholic parent. I did yes. The majority of my family has died at this point. I lost the majority of them before I turned fifteen but I did have an alcoholic father. From the time I was born through the time that he died he was an alcoholic. And so tell me about how do you how do you deal with that in your own life and how? How do you help other people who have addictions addictions is is an internal voice? That same something is off in your life. It's it's not necessarily a neurological pattern per se. It's something that we tend to ignore. We have a voice that's telling us. Hey something's not right but were so trained to ignore the little sirens going off in saying. Hey pay attention to me and so we drown everything out. And that's a mindfulness. Practice to me is what is this voice trying to say you know. And if I am pushing myself into these things to numb my existence and to ignore what's actually going on it's not necessarily an addiction. It's a it's a process to look at as what am I missing? And what do I really need to look at in my life right and do you work with a lot of people who have addictions of various kinds? I have yes I have. Alcohol is typically the number one. I mean it's the number one drug in the world and I have worked through it with a lot of people and it's really hard for people to turn away from it. It's one of those substances where it does numb us. And so it's an easy Goto and yet it's one of my biggest biggest things to work with so much in the mainstream isn't it? Yes absolutely. That's one of the things I notice. I notice Ellen laughs a lot about you know having a drink or you know she laughs a lot about and I love Ellen. I think he's really funny but I think that she kinda glorifies the use of alcohol and I think that's not a good thing I completely agree and that is why I feel. We did not have enough role models in the mainstream media. Who are teaching kids? What it means to actually live an authentic existence. You know we we push drugs and cigarettes in everything. It's still in the mainstream media even though we've become awakened as a society you know we use that word so often and yet we have all of these people who spotlight's on them and they they talk about everything that they're doing outside instead of really really end the fact that we need to tap into who we are and what we're here to do and how we do that. It's not through alcoholics. Not through substance and it's so yes that does actually really get to me and I don't even watch any of those people because of that reason I don't watch television hardly at all. I haven't for a long time but I do know that. I've seen some clips and stuff and I laugh at her jokes. I think she's very funny and a lot of ways but I think during this pandemic right now. I think there's a lot of glorification of alcohol too. I noticed that a lot of people say oh well I wouldn't be able to get through this without wine and all this out and then people laugh and and I think more than ever. Alcohol is being glorified. I mean. I think that with marijuana people. Don't talk about it as much even though it is a mainstream thing. It's not a fide in the same way that alcohol is is it no. It's not and I mean that is a big thing especially I was just living in Boulder Colorado before being here in California. So there's like the legalization of marijuana and and it's still. It's one of the best ways for people to Numb it. Numbs them and so it is starting to become more mainstream. It's getting up there. It's you know it's more talked about because there are more places where it's legalized and so it's getting there but no alcohol is still the number one. Go to and yet. It makes me sad that it's such a Goto during this pandemic because my personal belief surrounding this and the intuitive guidance that have gotten is this is on purpose. This is happening for a reason. And it's we're really trying to get people into a place of going inwards and really discovering who they are so they can show up in this world in a much more positive manner and who they are and all. I see our videos of drinking wine and having all these beer games and and it's just like they're not taking this time to really find who they are. It's just an another game of how much can I myself? How much can I put this off until it's over and it's just it's really? It's it's sad so once we decide not to numb ourselves whether it's with food or alcohol or or social media There are so many different ways to numb ourselves. What do I do next? If we decided not to numb ourselves be prepared to have an unfolding. You know it's the scary thing about numbing is that you're all of the truth is going to start coming up you know. It's one of the main things that people go through when they stopped drinking. Is they realize that their friends are actually friends. They're just drinking buddies. You know there are people who they go to the bar but when there with those people and they're sober they don't have a lot in common and that's one of the first things that people go through is realizing like wait a minute. I don't actually connect with these people unless I am drinking. And so there is this unfolding of your entire life and coming to your truth of who you are who you genuinely. Connect with what it is. You want to connect on and all of these different levels that come up to the surface and a lot of people are not ready for that. They're terrified of finding out who they really are. Because then all of a sudden they have to reframe their entire life the structure shifts and all of sudden the relationships at their end. They don't make any sense. The friendships the job. Everything starts coming to the surface to really be reviewed and that is scary for a lot of people. You have to really be prepared to go through the transition. It's it's not just the numbing. It's everything in your life is going to be under review right and can we sometimes numb ourselves using activities. I mean can be a way to ourselves is not true. One hundred percent yes. Yeah I know that climbing is a passion is that is that a way of numbing ourselves or is that a way reaching who we really are so for myself. I am not a I. Don't have activities that like I have to do this have to do this right now. The climbing gyms are close. I'm not doing anything other than really relaxing. I workout maybe five ten minutes a day. You know it's not something where I feel like. It's an addiction to me. It's Oh I am not feeling good today. I'm not going to climb like I try. I do my best as well to keep things contained and not become a a substance to me and so when I'm climbing it becomes a I love climbing because it it's A. It's a form of meditation for me when I'm on the wall. There's nothing more that I can think about other than climbing. And so it clears a space for me and I believe that we have to clear space and release all of our thought processes in order to come to forms of clarity and so when I'm on the wall it's usually during a time when I'm like okay. I have too much on my head. I'm over thinking things I need to get myself out of this space and so I climb. It is a physical and mental workout for me but yes climbing to for people can become an addiction. It comes to naming so it's all dependent on how you are mindful in your life really about everything that you're doing is becoming an imbalance or are you overstepping one way or the other and so for you. Climbing is kind of a form of meditation. Do you have any other forms of meditation in Your Life. Doing absolutely nothing and that is one of the biggest things that I teach. People is the IT. Goes along that thing that you said the being busy. That's a numbing and I prescribe people to literally do absolutely nothing to lay on the floor. That's my meditation. I lay on the floor in a silent dark room and I literally I. I don't try to push my thoughts away. I acknowledged them. Eyewitness them as they come by and that for me is meditation. Meditation doesn't have to be you sitting up in posture. And you. You know listening to specific music. It's the act of literally doing nothing and not forcing yourself into certain thoughts and not certain you know pushing yourself into certain actions. I think the more comfortable. You can be the more clear you're going to be able to reach. You know I know that you do. Nlp tell us from your perspective how you discovered it and what it does to help people including yourself so she is a technique that it's just about asking questions so it's the way you ask questions and the way that you can elicit responses so a lot of people when they're asking their friends questions they do it in a sense where it it either comes from the person asking where. It's almost advice bursts. If I ask You oh okay Bruce. You. You're reading books. Tell me which ones are your favorites right until it puts you in this thought process of thinking about okay. Which ones are my favorite books verse if Someone Says? Do you like reading. Xyz and gives you specifics if forces you to actually think in their context and it it puts it in a box right so it's not actually coming from you. It's coming from the context of what they want you to say. And so it's just transforming the question into a way where accesses their brainwaves and actually gets into their subconscious and is able to dictate what they're actually really wanting to save what they feel they should say. How long did it take you to learn this process? Actually I've been using it the majority of my life and I didn't realize it until I started actually taking courses and I think probably when I was about sixteen seventeen years old. I remember someone having a conversation with me and I just remember them asking me certain things and being like you're asking me in a way where you're trying to get me to respond to what you want me to respond. Maybe you should ask in a different context and from that point on I was very specific with with the way I talk to people and Eliciting. They're genuine response. I what they needed to hear. So it started at sixteen and a couple years ago when I actually went through in L. P. Course. I learned like this is what I've been using the majority of my life. Oh that's so cool so tell us about a client that you've worked with that you've taken them from dark place to a much brighter place and can you tell us a little bit about that..

Oh you do it at home. Yeah I would like to see that. No okay she brings out like the silly side of Ellen Ellen in a way that a lot of guests don't we were saying like her and Michelle Obama. They don't put up with her shenanigans right. They throw it right back on her face and he just loves it it. It's so fun to watch her. As producers servers we always love when. Someone's out there and Challenges Ellen pokes her little well share shares. Very confident in who she is and what she does and she doesn't need to take any any grief from Ellen and she knows literally the opposite of me literally you see share onstage rehearsing or song and you go like my God She has been doing this forever. She is like the consummate professional knows. Exactly what to do has incredible comic timing and just it just brings it so now. Kevin had a brilliant idea that none of us thought would actually happen in which he was overdue for. We have but dr dry bar next to my favorite drinking place. Don Kuko's Lisa Industry Chip Kevin Leong Kuko's and get blow out not worried about you're going to say so. Yeah dry bars just opened and of course share play stylist and Mermaids Ellen has hair so who better better team to go and surprise people there and have them do their blowouts and Ellen and share and I was like there's no way share it's going to go with L. into the dry bar and blow hair covering the reaction to the folks in the drive bar when the door opens and Ellen and share walk into the brand new dry bar into Luca Lake it was awesome is fantastic. Share share instantly. Said yes ellen got early to do it. It was so much fun. We shot it and cut it all on the same day. I think we're putting the whole thing up on ellen tubes you can definitely see the whole thing there if he were sure. I wrote the car with share over there. And Kinda pissed her through some ideas he wanted to do and told her where we had some whigs hidden but and he was a little shaking voice and Kevin never gets nervous. A little shaky shakey celebrities. Still Shaky made me happy. It was fun. And like that's the coolest thing about our job is like Kevin Leman grew up loving share air and now he's producing her in comedy piece so it really is a cool job and it never gets old to me. Mary tell the story of Kevin Leman. I'm so glad you asked Ed so Kevin Kevin Leman came to us out of the NBC page program. He began as really sort of just a young man who was mostly straight or confused with his sexuality is surgery but yeah great. We hired him. I believe as a production assistant assistant and he was a producer's assistant. He did a number if things very quickly he became a writer after submitting some material to Alan how many years before he became a writer too so so meteoric but we were you need in the first few weeks of the show well. He appeared on the very first episode of the Ellen. Degeneres show great because he's an amazing. He's an amazing artist. Full face He became a writer he then became the head writer. And in that you become the head writer so two years in. We're starting our sixteenth season in in season. Three you became a writer and then when did you become the head writer. I think officially seasons seven long story Short Kevin is now an executive producer. Ellen made him yeah okay all right okay. That's pretty much. And he's an EP when I was young and I'm old. But here's what's interesting Ed. How long have we all been together at the Ellen Degeneres Show sixteen years? We've been here since the beginning. Yeah never never. This is really the first time anyone who wanted to hear what we've had to say. I'm not sure if they want to marry. Oh well that's the first time we're at this point we have zero listeners. Left Kev. There was such an amazing moment in that piece. There's such an incredible moment. If you know sixteen years years in it feels like everything has happened but how often does someone call Ellen a word. "Striking of lovely sweet women who wear diapers we had. Beth bears and Whitney Communist coast sure they sure did so. Let's talk about Beth bears. There's for a second so years ago probably ten years ago when we first got to this lot. I think two broke girls was early in its. It's run and we booked. Beth bears as I think a second guessed. She was like really new to the scene. A second guest is often appears later in the show yeah so so you know like your lead is Scarlett Johansson and then and then you might do a music or something like that and then you have a second celebrity on the show and she likes like stole our hearts that day she was so sweet so willing so funny and we had so much fun with her that we just started torturing her at least once or twice a year every every year for multiple years and now fast forward to twenty nineteen and Beth bears and Whitney Cummings who's been on the show a few times Whitney but not as not not nearly as many times as as as Whitney is a very funny woman who created varnish. She created two girls and that's how she knows. She knows bath. She's head. She had her own show. I think for a little while. She said she's done a couple of different. Things very successful. She looks very successful may entirely as well though but really really funny and so fast like in the briefing in Ellen's laughing so host Whitney and Beth Whitney Cummings was like she's like Andy like you're just it was outrageously funny the briefing. Oh my God is she imagine. She spent a lot of time in a writer's room. Yeah Oh yeah for sure yeah really really really funny and it was such a fun day and the show was fantastic and here's a little bit of their monologue care yes and I am when he comings and where your guest host for today calm down. That's going to hurt. Allen's feelings too excited not here because we locked her in a trunk backstage. She can get out if she figures out the combination joking. It's fine. I'm sure she's is exhausted from working three whole days this week. I was actually super excited when she asked if I'd fill in for her then she said I'd be co hosting with best barriers and I was like okay probably could have done it myself but it's fine. I Love I love her to mine is just I mean it's interesting because DAX shepard didn't have no and tries to twitch to do it by himself. Auden Auden Sean Hayes and Jason soukous and Johnson also wrestler. They're are known for their brilliant comic timing so it makes sense. Maybe there are two last because Ellen likes women to better than one. I'm so happy to be with you today not only because we are real life friends but we've actually worked together before you created created. Two broke girls decided and you talk to start into broker. Now we are too rich not as rich as ellen working so then the lead guest based on that show hosted by Whitney and Beth is Randall Park from fresh off the boat and also he was in the alley long movie the Netflix movie always be maybe it was called. That was a really funny movie. Let me tell you something. This guy is hilarious ran the park and he's so like dry and he's one of those people like he doesn't really like laugh at his own jokes or so. He's like he's sort of very very even tempered. My God is he funny and it was a really fun interview with two of them and then they played. I think he hosted Whitney and Beth playing five second rule correct really cool. Take a listen. Give us three words to describe it. Oh Blonde thin and richer than me. They probably all right three words to describe Whitney beautiful amazing hair the funniest person I know other than Ellen while pushing doing it all right Wendy. Tell us three things you say to someone. You find attractive. What's your number number. Where do you live you stock reports. Where do you live. Why did I get a buzz on. I wasn't asking you to in five seconds. That's the other thing I Fada someone. I find attractive you only the tell us three things you whisper to your goats beautiful look into my eyes. Do you love me mostly. It's just do you love me. Love me right. It's unconditional right after that's GonNa take a Selfie and move on. Does this make you appreciate your wife. Even more all right. "This the following story is not lie about about the American Ninja Warrior so go ahead so we're so we have a relationship Asian ship. NBC and they asked us if we would like the winner of American Ninja Warrior and then they tell us that as a bonus we could actually hand him a check for a million dollars while he's here yeah yeah that's all great but he needs to do some dangerous thing while he's here so we put this thing outside where I I don't even know what it's called. Maybe Aby Andy's inner will know what it's called but it's a some device for Watson bobbly yeah you're standing on a pad horse if the run over these three things without falling down and it's pretty much impossible and we wanted to prove roof how hard it was before we had the Ninja Warrior do it. We wanted through how difficult it was so we had and easy and are doing the obstacle also only takes ten seconds ten seconds and Zina's kind of an actual athlete. You know a thousand percents football with Jeaner. You might not be able to run under it. I've said it before but sometimes people get confused by the fact that there's two Andy's Andy is the taller thinner handsomer of the to Andy's and he's the one who it's always out there assisting ellen so we have aunties out there and he does it right and the first time he does it if he gets on the first one and then he may be not handsomer and then on a second try. We have them do it again. He does the first one he does the second one. It looks like he's actually GonNa do it. Yes I was wearing more to do falls down into a padded wall but so he's fine right into a line and let's be clear he falls because he doesn't want to show that he can complete the obstacle which he probably he could have completed it. He knew he could have completed it but fell in order to make it look as though only the Ninja warrior champion would be able to complete the obstacle that is a decision he would like to have back with with us now in the room and easier one handed clock and that's quite a cast. They're wearing a giant CASS ask which is giving us the giant finger. You'll know what's happening underneath here. You can't see at the giants on his left. Wrist is right wrist and in hand. Oh Buddy surfboards. It's called surfboards towards the that's what the events called when they when they do it on the show. It's a lot higher and they fall into water. so when I was approached to take was supposed to take it I was like Oh that'd be fun. Okay great right then the day of I heard you might need to to a couple of times all right okay. That's that's fine. I'll take a fall and one thing about Andy no matter what. How long have you worked here. Now continues three fifteen years. We've asked him to insane thing and he never wants Pauses Cheryl. Try that it's just amazing Andy and because it's been fifteen years and we've all been in the same spot for this fifteen years. It feels like time has SORTA. Stop Them. We're all still the age we were when we started. It's not just a little oh boy we hired him. It's still a boy three years ago. It was my backbone out. Last year. I fell off a horse right broke my hand but I got an out of the way early also well. It's early so much Morgan happening so so he oh God love him. We should've known better. We knew we knew better. We new better for years. The producer pitch the producers pitch was Andy. Last nurse should run over right that was I think Chris Kuchis Pitch. We lasted run over this thing. I wasn't in the room and I said we've got to protect Andy Boards. The Ninja Warrior Pinky said they couldn't support his weight. Oh Oh that's true. Oh Autry had a so like me step on the first one. It would just go right down the past. Oh we backups cops okay so we don't want to hurt. Show will hurt senior so we have you know because he's not heard we didn't. I think it was positive and he's also doesn't sane stunts. People should get on a bike and all of a sudden. He's doing a whealy knows. He gives me a heart. Attack and ooh has bones. It's crazy. Sorry that's okay. I got I got caught on this. One and we thought we had ample padding. We thought we had at all the things there that would help pretend Mary's in charge of safety technically sure so it does fall on her desk. The irony is the one time I was wearing pads and they didn't help. I know I was bad enough up. I fell on pads still broke. The hand broke the hand. Oh my God so he breaks the hand. I don't know about media win. When do you know it's broken soon as he steps off do you you have the Do you have your phone on me. I know Kerry my phone. I should care my phone here. We Complain Ready. I'll push play wrote my hand. So that's tim the second he gets off the thing. I'll play it again for you. Don't he says that to our producer Chris Coochie and then I immediately said no I'm fine. I'm fine because I remember Mike on the mic in your head. You sound so sad andy. I knew it was broken. So then you go right to the hospital now. That's worker's comp claim. Mandy and I'm glad you asked what I had to do. Was I went to the nurse on the lot. She's a wonderful woman. She gave me an ice pack. She looked at it. She said well. Your blood seems to be okay. She pinched my fingers. She's like your blood seems to be okay so let's just keep it iced and keep an eye on it. You know keep keep it elevated so we went back to my office and I kept my hand elevated and I I had my hand iced hurt hurt but I'm optimistic so I was like me. I just really jammed. It hopefully jammed so I had to pick up my daughter at seven because she was in a dance class. Thank God I wasn't wasn't about to go to an urgent care and sit there for four hours. NOPE so I picked up my daughter and I went home. She's like Whoa Dan. Are you okay and again fine and you're driving with a broken hand. It's all yeah so I went home. Help with the kids to bed kept summarize. My hand went to bed. Optimistic woke up the next morning with my hand under my pillow and I was like Oh. I don't WanNa look at it. I just don't want to get it so I pulled it out and look like a catcher's glove like yeah. It's broken so would you took my kids. It's the school I amid lunches. Jelly was really tough really tough open that Jelly Jar made lunches drop the kids at school and then I came in here. What's your wife say. Does she like idiot. Like what did she say. She's like. It's time for us is everything so it's like just another hassle of having to go. I said I said when I left the house. I said the next time you see me. I'm an advocate and she's like no so I came in here. Yep went back to my friend. The nurse and she's like Oh yeah. That's that's definitely we gotta get you in somewhere and it's still haven't had an x ray and again. It's not what you know to you know so I got a recommendation from someone in this room who not going to name any names yes and and I went to this sports medicine. Guy Pita community just amazing. It's Dr Joshua Scott Dr Joshua Scott shoutout great guy and got right in there and got an x ray and I knew I was in trouble in the expert guy goes ooh. I heard him outside. He looked at my picture and he goes Oh. I know that Shoutout Glenn that guy did an x ray on my knee Glenn and he and he got the actually back and he's like. I've never seen a screw that big but again. That's been there for thirty years but I was worried that I'd have to get surgery but nope just threw me in a cast three or four weeks an outbreak for two to three and I'll be good to go so now. How much time did you missed from work two hours to just a quick question. Are you expecting to be paid for those two hours or there's a claim claim somewhere. You're probably GONNA have to sign. Something got got a really nice email from joy reid out so funny Andy. She got four signatures on your cast already my roommates who in my wife Megan my daughter Mattie Mice Andrew and my son Ali those were the first four and then the looks like you got a bunch from the emmys. We'll talk about that next week. Maybe Yeah Yeah. It was such a frigging trooper any guy. Can I ask you a question because the thing that that struck me when you first came back was a jet black beautiful cast very which I've never seen in my life. I have I think we will. We'll post a photo of this cast because it's so beautiful it is also has this. They say we're putting a cast on and suddenly they're putting a black cat. They siblings. Let's explore some colors in there and there was a green yeah. There was blue blue royal blue. I see right purple was an option. I talk for like little kids when happier so then you match the plan to wrap you can have white or black icy and I with all jet black on account of a red carpet event. I have to cover on Santa goods. We put a little bow tie on it or you did put a little bow tie on so so funny. Great Killed Yeah Good. Oh Poor Andy Is II andy is your heart is a soft as your bones. Eh or just love you. Your heart assault all right now. What do you want to talk about. Let's talk about she's hilarious. I do love she's here so happier especially nominated she like the way she she was needling. Ellen about Oh my God visiting the Archie and and Megan and Harry the bragging about it. They're so funny together. They really are the yes. I enjoy the way want to poke a stick and Ellen enjoys it. People like some background info about the people we have here Wanda. Guess hosted forced I one time yes absolutely and it's so funny to see two people who have a lot in common and how differently they processed the show like Ellen laughs out loud that she talks through jokes. She'll say like is this better. Is this better. Wanda will look at the page. She studies the joke in silence for a long time up up to three minutes in silence which feels like a long time and you're meeting in new celebrity and you're a little nervous share and then finally should be like it should be and then she'll say the thing that she's been instructing in her head the whole time. It was so fun to watch because when you see you on the show she so ridiculously quick yeah but you know the the lot of thought has gone into so much done Yup. She's a she's A. She's a home on talk show guest. She doesn't ever come to our show with out material thousand percent yes so what did did you do this summer. I didn't talk to you we went to we were in France of Villefranche. That's in the south and the thing is though they pick these places places. They're beautiful. "Kristen bell Dak shepherd easily one of our favorite couples here at the show. Maybe our favorite without a doubt. They are great separately. They are great together. Yup. The audience went crazy when they when they were announced sometimes we don't tell the audience our studio audience who's going to be on the show today. And so when Ellen introduces them and they walk out from behind the stage. They actually are. Finding out along with all of you at home, and you can gauge from the different reactions how excited people are to see our guests. And when they came out people were very, very happy. Yes, they really liked acts. They really liked Kristen. They they a lot of people like are like those are that's a goal of a relationship. I'd like to have you don't have that relationship with Lori. So they they they she has her film career. They told they told the story, and they had videotape that goes beyond beyond funny. Now you like do you like hot sauces? Do you like how things I like very mild hot things salsa? My wife. She doesn't spicy. Like a little something. But very little I love spice. That's what I am. I love spicy. You. Did you did did the chip challenge Andy? Yes. And I thought it was a lot what he was going. He I think of Dax is a pretty kind of rugged outdoorsy tough-guy met west. He looked like he was really suffering eating whatever he said that it was the piece of chocolate with a pepper in it. Yes. And the the chip challenge that everyone did where you have to eat this chip, and, you know, not lose your mind because it was spicy had the Carolina repair. This thing has something called the black reaper pepper, and he was doing it for prostate prostate transfer because he lost his dad to that. And so the two of them eight it, and they looked like they were visibly suffering. Like that's not the kind of spicy. It was I like to bask layer. So it was really incensed they're willing to anything. Our producer Matt thought it'd be fun to make them play. Taste buds taste buds, which is a game that we've played on our show. And then we played on game of games. You're blindfolded you're eating something. You don't know what it is? And you have to explain what it is without using the name of food to your partner, and your partner has to guess it right to play that clip for you and see if you can guess along with Dax what Christians trying to describe because she did it. Absolutely terrible job. She did. And Ellen could not get enough of it. I wish you could see you'll have to watch on your DVR because Ellen's laughing so hard throughout this entire clip. You cannot believe it, right? Enjoy Kristen you're starting behind your back behind my back and hair. L hold your hair. All right. And then you will taste this and describe it and tell him what it is. Where is it is down here? I'm we're on a clock wrong Lago raise money from some sort all meal. It's dry. Honey, honey. You're reading I only have. Moniz AOL will they'll point is decent. All right. It is your turn. You never play the. Right. Name down. The hotdog a hamburger. Now why? Wrench bride that right? Oh catch up. Okay. Good. You said it don't say. All right. Don't say the food. You describe a man. All right. Take time on crunchy after dinner snack shaped like a big worm. And it has when you leave. No doubt. It turns into Oreo. Oh, yeah. And it's on something like that is in the name to growing team. No. It's a crime scene, crunchy. Quasi after dinner snack. Sees what he did a team. After dinner snack. Into the sand dunes. See when meet crappy food trips, but one of the best kind. Oh. Snow agreements header, Mike. Is it? Retiring in their teeth string cheese. They're plenty. And they look like bigger, and they have like a cast you, but they're not a cast. There's..

"Now, we also we are known for giving a fair amount of stuff away. But yeah, most days, we don't like, right. We get attention because we give things away particularly twelve days a year during twelve days and sometimes on her birthday show and on mother's day. But but most shows don't have giveaways in them. So it'd be a fool's errand to book a ticket hoping hoping you're giving something away, and she's brilliant, and she spreads love and has reputation for warmth in that room. And it's just really to spread love we are in different way than Allen. But he's the are really really lucky. Kevin. I have a question for from viewer for you to answer. This is from Laurie McIntosh who I know on Twitter says tell me more about the thanksgiving bit, you do when Ellen uncovers people at the dinner table. It's my favorite it seems as though it is not rehearsed. And she is. Prized by who is they're very observed. Yes. It's one of the writers favorites too. It's become an annual tradition. And what is fun for us? Is we do actually rehearse it. So Ellen knows the character. She's going to be introducing, but she doesn't know who will be playing with. That's right. So every hersal will use some staff members. And then for the show we switch everybody out and use different staff members and our wardrobe team in Harris genius. They're so they're so good at their amazing. I mean, the transformation to make choices like an older lesbian woman. Oh, my God was hours of makeup. And then we we worked hard to make Mary look like grandpa and this wasn't as ours. Seemed like make us seem to me like moments before the show started you put on a mega hat. Let's seem wildly. Take off my day makeup. Yup. Put it to slip. Amen. Get into my grandpa outfield, Mary's family, happy about the Magna hat. Oh, yeah. So Kev asked me the day of if I would be being the in the monologue. What's that grappa Murray? Yeah. Grandpa Murray said, you know, and I was like, okay. And then you did not say anything else. And then I went into wardrobe. You didn't ask anything else to be fair? Yeah. I went into wardrobe, and they gave me a blazer into this into that. And then they tried to give me a maga- hat. Yeah. But was that that guy is going to be talking about politics? You gotta give them more mashed potato I understand. Yes. So I felt I felt a little deceived. Yeah. A little bit. But I was a team player. I wore the hat Ellen was so surprised to see me that she didn't even notice that I was wearing a maga- hat and then at your direction, she just kept shoveling mashed potatoes into my mouth. How'd that go for you? When you got home the family loved seeing me in a magazine. I'm sure gosh. That's unbelievable. Yes. I'm glad to know people like it. We'll keep it up. If you follow. He's only silver on Twitter. You might have an idea of how she felt. And also in that monologue. It had an appearance by Matt. Right. Yes. Matt, right. A co EP on the show does. Oh, great biggest celebrities producer. And he I forget who played a cousin, right? Young a young boy cousin who wouldn't get off of his tablet. Yes. And so had some some sort of content on his tablet that Ellen seemed to see for the first time during the monologue during the show. And so if you're watching the to show you just see Ellen laughing her butt off..

"It's so fun to watch her as producers, we always love when someone's out there and challenges Ellen pokes her a little share shares very confident in who she is. And what she does. And she doesn't need to take any any grief from Ellen. And she knows literally the opposite of me literally, you see share onstage rehearsing or song, and you go like my God, she has been doing this forever. She is like the consummate professional knows exactly what to do has incredible comic, timing and just brings it. So now, Kevin had a brilliant idea that none of us thought would actually happen in which he was overdue for we have Dr Dr he was over to dry bar next to my favorite drinking place. Don, Kuko's, Oh, Lisa. they send us show. Kevin Lau's to leave Don Kuko's and get a blow out. Not worry about you're gonna say. So. Yeah. Dryer bars just opened and of course, share played a stylist and mermaids Ellen has Harris. Oh, who a better team to go and surprise people there and have them do their blowouts, and Ellen and share? And I was like there's no way share. It's going to go without win to the dry bar and blow hair cut the reaction to the folks in the dry bar when the door opens and Ellen and share walk into the brand new dry bar into Luca lake. It was awesome. It was fantastic share instantly said yes, Ellen got here early to do it. It was so much fun. We shot it and cut it all on the same day. I think we're putting the whole thing up on Ellen tubes. You can definitely see the whole thing there. If he were sure I rode in the car with share over there, and kind of pissed her through some ideas, he wanted to do and told her where we had some Whigs hidden. But and he was a little shaking. His Kevin never gets nervous. I'm very he was a little a little shaky around celebrities. He's a little shaky made me happy, it was fun. And like that's the coolest thing about our job is like Kevin Leman grew up loving share. And now he's producing her. In a comedy piece. So it really is a cool job. And it never gets old to me Kev yesterday. There was such an amazing moment in that piece. There's such an incredible moment, you know, sixteen years in it feels like everything has happened. But how often does someone call Ellen? Yeah. A word. Ellen loves to to poke poke poke and push buttons and share put up with it for a while. And then just unleashed a little bit Annell in in a way that made Ellen laugh her head off. Da scott. You too. No. Because like if you could reach a star, you can't really give them to somebody. It would it would be hot. You know what I mean? Like, that's doesn't make sense, right? No her. Yes. She knows me. They know me better than they know you. You know, share just had been poked by Ellen enough that share turned around and just said the b word share called Ellen a bitch in a way that was fantastic. Larry's everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially Ellen yet. Do guys follow share on Twitter, by the way. I do. She's you know, she is something the amount of emojis. She it's like my kids. Nobody uses emojis more than that woman, and she'll actually dole senses. Something mean them. Sometimes absolutely nothing. Yeah. They literally mean, I always think it's like she fell on her keyboard. That's what it looked. She and she talked about it with Ellen and about how sometimes she does a great job with it and other times, not so great. Very very active on Twitter. I don't know if you follow her. But if you do you'd know she's very active on Twitter, if you don't follow her you should and you should if you follow her. You should follow me. If you follow me on Twitter. You should follow me on Instagram. What we talking about shares tweets. Yes. So she's very active..

"You've got the photographer. You got the model in altogether. It makes this. So I liked that whole process. And so I was thinking. Okay. So what's my next move? How how what do I love most about this? Like, I love making people laugh, and I was like, okay, boom. Let's do this. And so then I got into stand up comedy. And then from there, I was just like I have. No interest in just having people judge me based on my looks and that became really relevant in Jules completely understood. She was just like, yeah. For sure do like, that's not you. Yeah. In you thrive off of like communication with people. And so we kinda came to an agreement where I was like, okay. I love you. But I'm moving on. She's like hail. Yeah. Yeah. Going good. Yeah. So many questions about stand up comedy now. So what age were you when you decided to do stand up comedy then? Well, officially I'd say like eighteen and a half nineteen but like. I have always been at the dinner parties on top of the table being like. Right. So I, you know, I I wouldn't consider that stand up comedy. But it was definitely entertaining for the masses for your whole life. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That nothing scares me more than like getting up 'cause we even talked about like what if we ever go on tour, and we have to do a live show. And we're like that sounds horrified. Type get up and talk. I don't even know well to be fair the bright lights are in your face. So extremely that. You don't see the audience. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. Well, we were dancers in highschool like we can kind of relate like you see the people in the audience because. Yeah. Yeah. That's a lighter so bright same thing. But well, and I used to sing again perform all the time in front and remember all they're like a we would never. No, actually, we used to know. Not funny. No. That's the thing is not being funny and singing, and then you're done. But that's the trick is when people reach for jokes. That's when it's not funny. It's like it's pretty much like glorified store. Retelling? Yeah. That's true. Yeah. Yeah. So in in my I like to think that my humor is like I can say my entire fifteen minute bit. And not have a laugh and be completely comfortable with it. Really? Okay. I was going to ask you that. Have you ever said anything in? Oh, yeah. Ellen laughs in like, what do you feel like, oh, it's hor- up. It's terrifying. I was gonna ask you how to most embarrassing moment that that sticks out to your mind. Yeah. When you're being from when you're on stage yet. So I I was at the comedy store, and it was like I forget what they call it. But it was one of those nights where you put your name in a hat pretty much. They like pick you out in. Of course. I was I up and I was like comedy star to which was like pretty intimidating at the time. And I was just like, okay. Yeah. I know I got this. And I like didn't even think about it. And I also had like these comedians with me that were like big dog in you know, they were just like they've done this before they were sauced or like not like. Drunk, but because that's a term in Indonesia's. But like saw stuff like they've they they had the whatever, you know. They just knew. Yeah. Just they already knew. And I was just like, oh, yeah. Totally I know too. But I didn't. And they're like Ivan Miller like I go up in whole entire audience is African American and like I was like gulp because you know, what they say is like if you if if black people think, you're funny, you're funny. Yeah. But if they don't then you're not..

"A blogger who knew the Cardiff worker. So I went to long and I thought, well, that's four of my days of this thirty one day challenge taken care of. And so I did the full stays in January and by then I was aware of the fifty T shirt and I was thinking, Ooh, I wonder if I could have my fifty shirt by the time. The next Johnson comes along. Don't be ridiculous. You've never stuck to anything. I tell you what I'll do. I'll just do Saturdays in February because then you know, I'm I'm moving towards that goal and I got the February and done all this stays and then we'll, I could still the stays in March. And that gets me and I've had my fifty T shirt by the time. The next I think I did my fiftieth run on Christmas Eve action court. Punk run. And so I basically have my fifty. I didn't have the T shirts self. It was the Nike to added us change over. So I had to wait a little for the T shirt, but I had my fifty club membership the for the next Jonathan. So it was this. It was the consistency of it. It was the target. I won't the T shirt. I won't the T shirt. I haven't earned a single T shirt since one that I have been as excited about as my fifty. It's the greatest fifteen like. Got one hundred closing to fifty fifty will still be the for me to four is the proudest moment. Absolutely. And I think it's this. It was a it was the stuck at something I'd stuck at running the year. It was evidence of longevity because a lot of the things I pick up anybody will tell you who knows me a lot of the things I pick up. I do a couple of weeks or a couple of months really enjoy and then something else comes along and I put them down and think, oh yes, I enjoyed doing that. But I'm not going to carry on to the fact that I'm still running six, seven years later, amazes pretty much everyone who knows me and it is that consistency of if we can, we count on, you never more than a week away from your run. So it was a while tourism early on, right? So looking at your profile now limited. No, that's wrong. Won't be. Yeah. Brighton women in Brighton? Beijing, stoke Basingstoke early. A new, the something like early February. So it must have been about five or six possibly was all dip park, and I came seventeenth out of seventeen. So. So why either you've got problem with the people of Wimbledon until you did too, and never again. No doubt. It's never. Again. It might be conceivable plenty of times more you very early on thought, you know what I like is tourism thing because very quickly. In fact, looking over your first year, you barely did the same want. I didn't repeat a tool. Women's Wimbledon Wimbledon, and then I did fifty straighten and row. That was much harder than than it was now by the way, wasn't it because it wasn't. You could kind of do fifty within twenty miles away. You live probably. But then that then you to do Bolton adding and all. Started. They were. There were about fifty pounds. Don't I think that must have been a mentioned in the newsletter or something about the most events table or about somebody who'd or by only ten people have done more than five pump runs each all. There was some throwaway comment. I read somewhere and I thought, oh, well, that's suggestive -able I'm not far I I think my first program, I think she says my I talk run. I lost a hotly contested battle for hundred ninety. Eighth place in came a hundred ninety. Nine thousand two hundred and four and two. Due to a teenager cooled. I think it's Matache hamden Smith. Not that this is engraved on my memory who overtook me in the finishing straight. So I knew I, I mean, I'm not fast, but I don't have anything else going on on a Saturday morning and. I am so this, this kind of Aiken, visit other punk runs, and then you get on the table and at the time I think you only needed tend to get on the most vents table and everyone you did you not up. So it was a way of seeing progress and also the time all the running I did because I wasn't a member of a running club, haven't discovered trail running tool. All the running I was doing at the time was work to home home to work work to home home to work along the same bus route. It was MD and I suddenly discovered that. With you'll bunker, you can go to all of these different places and you've got flight. You've got hill, you've got trail. You've got, Tom, you've got, you've got large, and there's just so much variety. So we'll running did in the week was really dull and pumped from was my my variety. And I also started to meet up with people who I'd met online through the blog. So I think the first time I met up with people by arrangement was Finsbury park, and I met with two bloggers. I'm still friends with. And it's it provided a focal point and a safe space, I suppose, because you're in public. So the very unlikely to bring that is. You do meet some characters that you. So it's it's funny comment, whether it somewhere all listen to on your show last week. But somewhere there was a mention of the kind of often more of the not. You don't really range to meet people when you're doing around partner, but you bump into them. It's kind of like a circuit, but not circuit as it were, isn't it? And you do there are familiar faces. I mean, I would have you're inaugu an inaugural chaser early on, I would say looking at number of first event. Chases not quite. I think that, yes, I went to a lot of inaugurals and there were two reasons for that. I was that they tended to be closer than a of around in two thousand thirteen five in a row, Tom Ridge Lincoln Pontypool. You shouldn't open them up quite quickly. Now you see. I went up. I Lincoln. I drove a friend up because it was thirst one in Lincolnshire in somebody else. I had met three punt during a chap called Andy Bailey, who's a complete star. Was going to be there. So we, I drove a friend up. So that was a kind of expedition for friends. Don't he pool? I invited myself to stay with my Welsh cousin who up till then was pretty much only weddings and funerals. And we've since become closer because and partly because I blatantly did tell her, you know, Hello, wealth cousin, you, you probably remember me from the last wedding, there's a new park run starting up with you. Can I beg Abed? So lots of these different events. I've, I've caught up with old school friends and all and and slightly distant relatives and people I I've met. So there's quite a lot of socializing, but I think that the the attraction in the early days of inaugurals was a, they tended to be closer when they opened up in London. Oh yeah, it's not. It's not a great big trag, but also because. It was the first one, the other tourists would be quite likely to be going in weeks one, two and three. So you could see people you knew. And this was before we have the tourist group on Facebook where I'm kind of before. I knew any of the tourists in after befriends with them on Facebook, go to have any way of contacting them. But you knew if you went to an inaugural, you're likely to see familiar faces. So it was a way of finding touring community without it being formal and since formalized a bit, or at least I've got to know people and there's now the Facebook group. So an part of that was actually as a reaction when when when large inaugurals don't be a problem and and there was this well, if I don't go to girls, I may never see any of these people. Again, I just stopped the ones I knew into a group on Facebook and said, just this has got legs. And at anyone else you can think of and an apparently it has got legs because I think we're now every two. Embers, but it's been, it's been amazing. And so just bring it back a little bit to you. I'm really interested in like your and what it what it means to you, your your really, really passionate about partner and being involved in it and all those kind of things. But like. Aside from all of that kind of fun stuff to get a little bit depot, what is it like? Why you stuck to it? When you know you've said you've not stocked in so many things before, why is it something you feel such a connection with? You know what? What? What? What? What we do on Saturday mornings beforehand, Jin fill the massive gap. I didn't realize I had in my life and number Helen, Saint every week on you not chance and now try and tear away. But what if you pre from my weekends and I have I have, I have to say that I have without exception the best. Husband on the planet because pre-punk run weekends would basically be Friday night through to Sunday night will craft and we've did that together. And then when I started punk running and I kind of dropped warcraft, it wasn't, oh gosh, you know, used to spend all this time with me and you know a now you don't even well. If it makes you happy. That's fine. Gives me time to do something else. So my my weekends before pump will basically will vote craft and then so it is it's a complete change. I mean, people who knew me when you know who knew me before would probably not recognize me. In some ways. Now, I think the attraction is the people and the community and the friends and the ability to another great. I don't. Like people don't like people on the map. We've got so much color. No, exactly what you mean having a chat with people over coffee or tea or whatever at the end of punk run, but the. And until we it's given it, it's it's opened up this whole social world which I didn't have access to before because that you can. You can be sociable without commitment in many ways. And I have made some really, really good friends through punk from and through running in general. But I've also got very wide that there's a huge number of people. I have spent a lot of very enjoyable time with without that sort of obligation to see them every week or catch up with them or make arrangements. You can just turn up and enjoy their company. And that's one of the people's kids you can get when you get bored of you can give them back. And it's one of the things that's my spot on is you get to run with people, but you're at your own pace. So sometimes you run the whole thing chatting to somebody. Sometimes you run the whole thing by yourself, but you've always got people around and if if you don't want to run with anyone, you don't have to. But if you want to run with people, then it's it's the kind of company without obligation I think is is what attracted me. And as I said, my life shrank sort of two thousand seven around two thousand seven, and it was just beginning to to broaden out again and and so we just came at a really opportune moment because there was this. There was this opportunity to to stop being sociable again without feeling that. I had to be sociable if I wasn't capable of being sociable at the time, look on exactly what you mean. I mean, when we. I mean like Ellen laughs me because on the weekend, I like nothing more junior partner. But while really like doing is sitting in the cafe with us all boy, who's who's three do it, and we sit there and we, we pay through the window all the people kind of like kind of being in the company people, but we don't necessarily like small talk. So we saw sitting on, here's a cake, Laver coffee. And we me met me three mate worldwide, and Helen's gather cafe be more social. And I'm like, well, like. Keeping everybody a distance. It's great. I like being, but like you say with no commitment is fantastic. So. Watching the world listening to the world taking pot when you want to but having to dipping in and out. Yes, yes, it's wonderful. So so so look as you you kind of you, you've become definition for Nuba tourist. So I don't know. I'm not anybody on the most vents table. Is it simply. I knew a tourist. I don't mean like a tourist because tourist is what twenty. I was it you that gave me a wrap around the knuckles once invited somebody to the Facebook to is page and they hadn't done twenty one. That was that was there every so often every so often this one on you think. I'm going to turn this down on principle, but it's going to be a really difficult E belt, right and not gonna have to phrase it really carefully. And I think one of one of the thing that sort of saying to you. Yes, they haven't done twenty brands though. I wouldn't normally let, but you all like the big cheese of talk run. So I will if you want me to, that was one of our took it well. Absolutely, absolutely. Brilliant. And and and you. And the other one was the US I country manager. Daryl. Do you know. Regional? I can't. I can't remember that. I just remember USA country manager and they weren't there on twenty crumbs in America. And so I felt really mean, but I've turned down so many people who aren't who haven't done twenty that I, I also feel it mean to start making exceptions.
