I'm not giving her donkey today because she has quarantining from her mansion. No i'm giving her donkey today because ellen degeneres insisted at her mansion feels like a prison. Don't believe me listen yourself. One thing that i've learned from being in quarantine is that people This this is like being in jail is what it is. It's mostly. Because i've been wearing the same clothes for ten days and everyone in here is gay now She's a comedian She was joking joke. Though i understand she was trying to go with it. Because because what you want is to go outside which is stuck in the house no matter what type of resonance you're in is going to feel like you have a lack of freedom doesn't matter if you're imagine are a one bedroom apartment if what you really want is to go outside you're gonna feel deprived that during this time but in light of what's going on in prisons and jails all around the country during his global pandemic called covid nineteen ellen degeneres sounds tone-deaf is how i am so glad that she said well she said because it provides me an opportunity shine light on something that folks may not know is going on. Okay please. I'm sure someone will send this the ellen later because eleanor platform way. Big in mind and you can help shed some light on this problem okay. So let's start with aaron campbell. He's a prisoner at. Sei elkton a low security. Federal prison in ohio where three people have already died from corona virus. You posted this online from the jail. Listen allen literally land and the rough nada got his laws call to care. The camera is for people who not gain member not a sexual offender in the if you at risk of catching die like three people i know already guilty and they can send you home home confinement right so i went to talk to these get. Finally they not gonna let us on home confinement. Why because they gotta make money off of. The nurse came in this bitch today. I talked to this. Move this to me. Be prepared half the union about the diners. He literally told me that they put the ten of everything that's stuck in their bodies one do is is on his way out of her. You feel me he did. I look at so you. Don't think oh by the way Aaron has not been heard from since he posted that. Facebook live video Twenty minutes staff member at that prison have tested positive for coronavirus. And i told you already have died now ellen. Would you like to hear what it sounds like. When a family member is home worried begging for their loved one to get help in a prison. This is theresa massa and her husband is angelo masci. Listen to what she had to say ellen. My name is teresa macy. My husband angelo. Massey is locked up in. Sei elkton someone called me and my husband was real sick. No one has called me from the jail. I tried to reach the jail. No one has returned my calls on. My husband called me yesterday and said he wasn't feeling good now today he did not call me. Some was calling from inside the jail on cell phone telling me sick that i need to call a war that i need the contact somebody. He finally went over to the nurse. he hasn't returned. They came in a packed up his belongings and didn't tell were it was sending them. I'm just reaching out to someone who can tell me where my husband is if these okay Just anything somebody can tell me. Somebody help me. Please like these. Mid is up through dying. My husband is locked up on a drug charge ellen. I'm sure you get the picture as to why your statement was completely coach really clueless because you are simply not in this world. These things aren't at your front doorstep so you're thinking about them okay. You've probably been washed. All seven seasons of orange is the new black and thought to yourself. Well prison so bad but ellen. No i want to play few these brothers who've made this video from a prison in alabama. And what they are currently experiencing california decent people caroling buyers new yorker started to these people for the coronavirus. Alabama is the most own pa- crowded prison system in the nation. And they refuse to turn. People is to be a mass grave site. I have a number of illnesses. Make me more. So they are not given a hand sanitizer. They're not giving us proper propsal. They're not given Mass being to the outside world the moral story. This is happening all over the country generous. Okay in california where you live damage. Thirty five hundred. Inmates have been released and they are just releasing random people. Okay prisoners whose crimes were violent those registered sex offenders and domestic abuse abuses. They're not eligible to see for this. Okay i see people think when you're in jail is f you you crabby. Should do the time true. In a lot of cases a lot more cases people are in there for non violent drug offenses because they would just simply trying to make ends meet. Okay some folks are in the the crime they committed and might be awaiting trial because they can't afford to bail out. It's all types of new. Wants to prison and why prisoners locked up knows folks don't deserve to die just because people don't know don't show i don't give a damn about what's going on in america's jails since that i even mentioned rikers island in new york city. I saw that a tax stone wrote from jail were rikers where he spoke about. The conditions are right goes and he started the letter by saying. I'm currently in my grave with my eyes wide open. He said d. As in the head of the board of corrections of playing judge jury and executioner with people's lives because his viruses spreading all through rikers and. Nobody seems to care he said to. Ceo's have no protective gear. And they aren't giving them anything to protect themselves So then you know. Reform is stepped in and provided mask and some other. Ppe but ellen. I think you understand now. Why you saying your mansion feels like a prison didn't sit well with people so now ellen since you noticed problems. What are the solutions. How can you fix this easy. Use your platform to sound the alarm. Okay i'll put you on to some of the things that are happening. But i'm a black male with a criminal record in list that can't pronounce words correctly. You are white privileged white woman ellen. I need you to use your privilege to combat this prejudice. That is going on ellen. I need you to act like your name is karen. Okay reach out to someone who was on the front lines fighting for these like man jones. All right have been jones. The cnn on your on your show on your platform and let's see if we can get these brothers and sisters some help. We should be calling for people to be released from prison. Jails at a time like this because we don't need any more stories like patrick jones. You know patrick. Jones is ellen. Oh well he was the first federal prison in to die from corona vice. He was locked up in louisiana on a drug conviction. And if i read right after he had a year left on his sentence not to mention for the people have died in that louisiana from corona virus since he died simple and plain. There's a lot going on ellen that clearly you don't know about because if you did you would have never compared your mansion to jail Please give ellen degeneres. The sweet sounds of the hamiltons are allen ya and like i said you know. There's a lot of different ways to help. You know if i was would reach out to van jones of cnn Van jones Is part of the reform alliance him and meek mill and jay z. Day all may sort at rikers island got p. p and got you know two things that they needed to properly protect themselves and i think she needs to. Have somebody like that on the show to highlight everything that's going on in the prison in jail systems right now due to covid nineteen because if we don't ring the alarm for all brothers and sisters behind those walls nobody will and ellen. You can be an ally and help us. Do that have a blessed day all right. Well thank you for that donkey today. don't move. Is the breakfast club. Good morning it's pretty easy. Using Humor to Prevent Suicide with Frank King

"Nama stay and welcome to live love engage. I am gloria grace rand and today on her show. I am delighted to have An awesome percent who gentleman who is got a lot of unique experience Including being comedian who also talks about a subject that what you wouldn't necessarily find funny but he has found a way to be able to help people out with that so First off. I want to welcome to live. Love engage frank king and for those of you watching on youtube. He was waving and smiling. But let me tell you a little bit about this gentleman. He is a suicide prevention speaker and trainer. Who also was a writer for the tonight show for twenty years and Depression and suicide actually run in his family. And he's You know had to deal with that. We'll talk a little bit more about that but having to do with Depression and wind to to kill himself but on the other hand he was able to turn that long. Dark journey of the soul into five. Ted talks that's quite amazing in and of itself that they haven't won yet so kudos to you and not only that he's really. He's a motivational public speaker. Who uses his life lessons to start the conversation to give people permission to give voice to their feelings and experiences surrounding depression and suicide and that is so important right. Now because as we're recording at the end of september twenty twenty and i was actually just doing some research on this yesterday that because of the pandemic that a as of at least late june there's been some research done that forty percent of. Us adults reported that they were struggling with mental health or substance abuse. So i think This is a time where really i think. People are struggling. So it's great that you're able to use humor and to be able to help people so let's maybe start from the beginning a little bit and just talk a little bit about your own journey. And how did you get started in comedy where all i was in fourth grade joke and students laughed and more importantly the teacher was hysterical. And i thought. I'm going to be a comedian. Twelfth grade. the talent show nobody'd ever done stand up at the senior town. Joe before clinton seventy five. I did stand up. i want. I went home. Told my mumble. I'm going to be a comedian. If she goes son you go into college. Do whatever you like when you're done you can be a goat herder for all i care but you must going to be a goat herder with a college degree Chapel hill actually be a. It'd be asked. And then mode san diego with my high school and college sweetheart where we got married and big mistake. Because he's a wonderful woman but we absolutely nothing in common. They say opposites attract. She wouldn't pregnant. I wasn't so we never had children. And just by chance in san diego there was a branch of the roth has comedy store on sunset in los angeles. Every time i drove by that place fell this magnetic pole. My i was not a big fan of comedy especially not a big fan of bb coming on comedian. Well she married an insurance guy. Got a comedian. Kind of matrimonial. Bayton switch so. I had to sneak out most gas. Nick huggers bars. I sneak out open mic comedy store. And then i got a job seating. Greetings could watch the become ex-professional comedians. In back them. Jim carey was headlined. Just doing impressions Andrew dice clay ellen degeneres. Rosie o'donnell appall poundstone. Dennis miller and so i watched and soaked in the best comedy available. And let's see. I got about sage first time days before april fools day. I five minutes irvine last night. I heard inside my head. I'm home. I'm gonna do for living absolutely no idea how your leg her and actually book myself on the road. Ten weeks it was kind of the beginning of the big comedy club. Boom from eighty five to ninety five. And i said to my girlfriend now my wife of thirty three years. I'm going to be a standup comedian. Especially you wanna come along and disbanding. Course she'd go no she goes. Yeah so we got. Our jobs gave our part but everything. We couldn't fit environmental dodge colt into storage. And we're on the road. She and i for two thousand six hundred twenty nine nights in a row nonstop seven years. James came off the road to oregon radio meld hometown of raleigh north carolina. Where i took a number one morning show in droves number six eighteen months only drove it in the ground road miller and by the found that was over the comedy club scene was beginning to wane. I always been very clean as a comedian. So i made the jump to the corporate comedy circuit the after dinner after lunch rubber chickens and made a great living doing that about ten years until the recession

Ellen Pompeo Hints at Grey's Anatomy End, Khloe Defends Kim's 40th B-Day Trip Amid Backlash

"It's time for some daily. Pop Morgan. Is out today suggested I joined once again by actress kitchen night polio. Thank you for joining us from Georgia. Loving for having me. Thank you. says. They do even. Just in case. Well, thank you very awesome. I want some. Okay. One of your favorite TV shows may be ending grey's anatomy has been on for fifteen years and Ellen pompeo just made a very shocking confession about what is next she tells variety. We don't know when the show is really ending it, but the truth is this year could be at this is also the last year of Ellen's contract. Okay. So Justin. Do you think they should end the show now while they're on top because people are still loving the show. Grey's anatomy is Kinda Sorta like young and the restless in the sense that like it can go forever and could miss a whole year. I'm back watched two episodes and then be caught up again you know what I mean. Yeah and the answer minds right and almost reminds me of the time. Do you remember when the hills was I going off Air Lauren Conrad was going to walk out the church and it was going to finish and she thought the curtains were going. To close and all of a sudden kristen cavalieri walks in and they revamp did I think Ellen pump? POMPEO is gray but the show can survive without her but can't survive without Shonda see. So Shonda, of course, just send them big NETFLIX's deal and it's to my understanding from what I was reading that she is literally parting ways with ABC completely, which may mean she's not GonNa have our hands on this show as much as she has in the past maybe not at all. And without shining once you've created show. Yeah. But once you've created a show, it's your show and I mean who's changed things happen we don't know how her contract is structured it could just be humming net flicks. One hundred percent but do I mean I think ABC has Shonda rhimes was so early in her career I don't think any see would have given Shonda. rhimes so much ownership over that show where she could move it to ABC but I think that Shonda rhimes, this voice, her blood, her sweat is so in this show that yes if shot arrives went to Netflix she will still get her coins from this show and she will let Iran. We'll be run by somebody else. That's does her voice. Okay. So listen I know somebody who used to write for how to get away with murder and he told me that his job was literally pointless because he says we were instructed to come in with ideas and we always did we came in and we said here's this. Here's that here's this but it always went with whatever Shauna had envisioned. Thank you for your ideas. Those are good and all but. We're going to do this. Appreciates the help but what did you say? No I said well, clearly, she has something you know I know it can be frustrating for someone to shoot down your ideas but the longevity of her career and all the shows that she is there's a reason why they've been successful and I know the Debbie Allen has been doing a lot with race mad at me. You know. You never know she still no matter she goes to net she still you know that's still her show. They can't take that away even if she starts creating another network. One hundred percent you know what? I am all about being petty and I heard about the drama shameless ABC for not giving Shonda that extra fast pass at Disneyland Shame on you. But if I'm Shonda RHIMES, I don't give y'all keep the show going on still get the cash I'm not gonNA. You know bitch and fuss about it. I have two kids got college should be four and I love living fancy like Oprah. We'll see what happens but I know there's some diehard grey's anatomy fans that are just not ready to say goodbye yet. So we will have to wait and see okay Khloe Kardashian has a message for the people who are hitting on Kim's birthday trip. She told Ellen Degeneres. She knows this year has been very frustrating for everyone but there Was a good thing. I did hear that people were upset that we all went out of town but also its her fortieth, and this is something that she really wanted to do for us. It was such a nice thing and being there with all the precautions and everything that we took and being there and how grateful everybody was for the tourism aspect of it and how. So many people said that we were their first party or guests that they've had in months and what it's done like for them to be able to pay their bills or to do. So for their family I mean just hearing those. Yeah. Messages when we were there, it was really a we felt really good and we felt so safe. So safe Wow. You know I knew the minute that first photo went. Oh, here we go. It's GonNa be a firestorm and For me I went to Cynthia Bailey's wedding in Atlanta and a lot of people were giving flack about that I thought about it for ten seconds and when it's a milestone, a wedding or fortieth birthday or something. Of that magnitude, it's hard. Skip it. It's hard to say or I'll just wait until next year. So I completely understand why there was so much backlash but I also understand why you wanted to continue in go on with it because you know sometimes. Life Yeah Kisha. And and the truth is that you know they did everything I think unfortunately, the Kardashian. Sometimes are just a position where you're kind of damned if you do damned if you don't. I'm not mad at him. I'm like, go ahead live your best life you share money you should be able to spend it how you WANNA spend it and they did everything they could to keep people safe in terms of quarantine in terms of getting Kobe task I mean, what more can you ask for it? Some people are upset because they don't have the option to do it, but you know sometimes you you can't just live perilously through the and plan your trip that newest you.

Alba was talking about the fact that when she was on with the Hills 90210 back in the early nineties mid-nineties. She was on just starting out in her career and was on as a kind of a guest actress for a couple of episodes and was instructed not to make eye contact with any of the Stars either behind the scenes are while on camera earlier this year. We heard all about the backstage world of the Ellen DeGeneres television show where people aren't allowed to make eye contact with her either and I just kind of shake my head. I've actually heard that through the country music off for a couple of artists. I won't name them cuz they're still going strong and I don't know if it's actually true but they've said you weren't supposed to make eye contact with them backstage unless you were told to it's just kind of sad to me I contact is very important. Let them know you respect them. You acknowledge them and you can make eye contact without going any further. It's kind of a sign respect released. I think it is but I think we're going to see more and more of those about Bad actors if you will about bad celebrities because right now that's the world we're living in bath.

Ellen DeGeneres apologises and says 'things happened that never should have' as TV show returns

"You hear Ellen yesterday, you know, came out over the summer. You know, Ellen, when you're on TV, she's so sweet. She talks about everybody. Please be so kind to be kind to everybody. Then behind the scenes, the most toxic work environment. Nasty, vicious, rotten Ellen, That was the story of swirling around all summer. Jobar that you know if you're in the broadcasting business there many people through the years who on the air are the sweetest, most angelic people. Then as soon as the Microsoft screaming at you like a maniac, you've seen that a million Times Avenue. Oh, absolutely. And it's usually the really nice people. On the other classic example was Arthur Godfrey, who was the biggest TV star in the fifties. This sweet, folksy home. Ba little guy who was officious fish is cold blooded killer in real life Assumes the micro go and we see it all the time. So Ellen had to explain all this So yesterday, first day back New season He's trying to save the show and she addressed. I learned the things happened here That never should have happened. I take that very seriously and I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected. I know that I'm in a position of privilege and power, and I realized that with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show.

"Ra David in the notebook dump. You sent me a piece in the Washington Post by Emily Yar about Ellen DeGeneres degenerates has been heavily criticised after to buzzfeed stories. Describe what they call the show's toxic work environment. But this is also a media story. because. degeneracy as emily are points out. Very good. Story has had two years of what in the old days we'd call bad press But today is more like stuff that you and I kinda saw or half saw on twitter and seeped into our minds and I don't know about you. But I had this feeling even before the buzzfeed stories came out of just like man I'm really disappointed in Ellen. Degeneres. And I couldn't have even told you why. It was just sort of osmosis somebody I liked thought I, and now I don't the Ellen. Show I learned in this article has been on the air seventeen years, which is pretty amazing. Her sign off be kind to each other, which is reminiscent of the Jerry Springer sign off. The first stage of this, David, was people calling out Ellen on television. This is from last November Allen had actor Dakota Johnson on the show. Listen to a little bit of this Awkward Exchange. It's good to see you. Happy Birthday. When was your birthday? October four before. You turn thirty I did and. How was the party? I wasn't invited? Actually known. That's not the truth. lmu You were invited mask. No last time. I was on the show last year. You gave me about not inviting you, but I didn't even know you wanted to be invited. To a party mine didn't even know you liked me. Of course I like you. You Knew I. Liked you. You've been on the show many times and don't I show like. But I did invite you and you didn't come. So this time you invited me. Yeah. Are you sure you? Know I don't think. So ask everybody. Jonathan. Producer. Okay. Where I nine? Why didn't I go? I don't know. Was it was it. Had that thing. A little bit of one, thousand, nine, hundred David Letterman edge to that interview is they're not. Yes. Totally, that was. I mean. Okay. She's been doing this for seventeen years. I'm sure a lot of this is just off the cuff at this point or you know just. Automated and it always works out right. But this it's this is just so strange. They give this happened on. This feels like season like season, one of Jimmy Kimmel where they didn't know what they were doing and like snoop Dogg, was there. You know like I don't and it had this great incredible energy to it, but that's not what Ellen is. Right. It's not this like antic anything could go anything can happen and it probably will energy and she's not trying. Presumably she's not, this is the craziest. Presumably, she's not trying to make Dakota Johnson. To, ruin this interview, right. So the best case scenario is almost that she was I, guess could be about it Nicole coach, but she was not prepared for the answer. It just seems like she's kind of trying to. Bully, Dakota Johnson, under the a behind the shield of like to Johnson can't. Come back at her on on her own state. It's very true and and then it made it to air, which is even weirder. Yeah, and I was impressed. They left it in to to the credit of the Ellen show. Yeah, and just would echo to Johnson is saying they're in so many words like you got mad last time. I was here because I didn't invite you to my birthday party and then I did and it turns out what you were saying before it was was a total bit because you didn't even come see. We're actually man, you don't actually really seemingly want to be my friend I mean that was that was. That was the undertone on the other thing about Alan and emily are points out his happen is people have started to talk about her as wait you're more of an ambassador to famous people. Then you are someone who stands up for what they believe in January two, thousand, nineteen, she had Kevin Hart on the show after heart had lost his Oscars hosting gig. For. Homophobic tweets. Ellen as your rights seemingly forgave him called his critics, haters was a little too easy on him for some people's taste. Twenty nineteen you'll remember this David degeneracy shown at a Dallas cowboys game sitting next to George W Bush and a good time with George W Bush. She addressed that on the show a few days later. But. A lot of people were mad and they did what people do when they're mad. They tweet and but here's one tweet that I loved. This person says Ellen and George Bush together makes me have faith in America again. Fleet. Here's the thing I'm friends with George Bush. In fact, I'm friends with a lot of people who don't share the same beliefs that I have. We're all different and I think that we've forgotten that. That's okay that we're all different. That's all fine. I. Mean I think at the time. We all knew this was a little bit overblown although. It was another sort of drop in the bucket. Right and I guess it's more shocking Verte say, Oh, you know what I'm front. I said more shocking that she's friends with George? W. Bush, not that I was laughing with him in a sky box. But I'm friends with him. Yeah. That was that was just surprising to me and to not address the lgbtq rights issues inherent in this at all sort of seem sort of odd. But I think to me it's just listen she's a talk show host. This was the appropriate place for her to address it but. and. We all and celebrities and all human beings address these things in the way. That is probably that that. Gives. them the the best audience for their apologies, but there is something just inherently. Funny, I guess about doing it literally in front of an audience who is literally whooping for you as you're as you're giving your apology to the world, you know it's it's it's a well, I mean is literally staged. I. Guess when we should also note that this criticism of generous is basically the opposite of the first one. The first one was, she's very nice. The second criticism was she's too nice to. George. W Bush. Is Actually, the opposite thing, which is.

You is what he wrote on social media so just in his celebrating with his wife Jessica Biel while in quarantine any honored his wife the mother of their son. Silas with a sweet tribute on instagram. Say My love. You continue to keep me in complete awe every day. This family works because of your love and soulful nece. You ARE A dream to share. All this with your boys love you happy. Mother's Day I love this. There's been a lot of talk about these especially after those photographs of him. A little drunk in New Orleans holding hands with his Co Star. We can put all that behind. Does my sources tell me. They are very very much back together and deeply in love. Tell me about that time again that you nearly run just into my g-o-v ago so I I was driving in New York City going uptown. Now as you go uptown. You know there's the crosswalk so is that a light and the light turned green. And you know how you if you're walking across the street ended. The light is turning in you. Try to hustle across the street really fast to make cosby. So you'll get run over while I was in my car. Justin was trying to make it to Barry's bootcamp and I. I nearly almost ran him over the also being in shock of recognizing him as I'm running him over so deer in headlights. Me RECOGNIZING WHO? I'm about to run over Justin Timberlake. You Know Mrs the car obviously. I don't hit Justin. Thank goodness I just did. Stopped trying to rush the lights. Take your time take your time. Now I noticed of the day naughtiest the days Wendy Williams who bashing TV host for looking quote discussed in on television a- including Wendy have been forced to broadcast from home. And Wendy does it. They look that good. She sharing some unkind opinions about her fellow hosts who present themselves on camera looking a little bit different professional hair makeup without the light. The producers looks a little different even I Garrett. Look a little different. We're on the radio so better not see speaking of competition. Wendy bashed hosts saying they look disgusting. Adding that I'm just saying this is a nice guy. What do you think I totally disagree with the way? Wendy's thinking on this. I mean you gotta give some leeway in the sense of you don't have hair and makeup you know at your arm's reach away those those people that are in the studio. You have to work with what you got and some people can do it. Others can't and so. Who are you people here? But you look a little different. Can I say at home than you do? At your studio to know who looks exactly the same when you meet them on the street or in the studio exactly the same Ryan seacrest his hair. It's growing little money. Perfect I booked to hypocrites in the lobby of a building in midtown and even without hair and makeup but maybe he was in Arabic but without lights. He just looks dollar. So what do you adore of the day at Shutout from Ryan for just bid adorable and with that? It's time for on nomenclature of ROB when people cannot be kind to you. It's time to say goodbye so we all deserve a squad of people cheering on but the only way we're GONNA get a team like that is if we start cheering on our friends to you. GotTa learn to be excited when your friends have really good news because the real reason people cannot be happy for each other is because they're not actually happy for themselves so when you have friends that are not kind say goodbye. Garrett can you get people out of your life? That are not supportive can you? I've I've learned to start doing that because all it is is a people just weighing you down and you can't have that life is too short to be weighed down by people that just like. Oh today The sadness of it. I have trouble though I do like do. I do take my own advice. But I've had friends who have been so negative for ten years. I just got used today. It's just Wa. TV's you haven't watched for a while. So anyway. So I went to Largo and I was scared to death. I it was tig Notaro's show I thought she'd have a good crowd. And and I she'd surprise the audience and I didn't announce that I was going to be there and it was surprisingly welcoming. People were really happy to see me which really surprised me. And then they. They laughed at got a consistent. Like it all worked and it was fifteen minutes and I was like. Oh my God. That's great it just need forty I five more minutes so then I just. I didn't know where to go after that. 'cause I that my whole thing was just over the top rich and then and I just started writing other stuff and I kept going back to Largo and I would announce like the sometimes surprise a an audience and then I wanted my own night. Once I had material and I'd go up with the piece of paper and I denounced like the night before and because I really didn't want my ellen show fans I wanted different people than that And I just built ended up until I had and it really tense around us. Who is you know runs? Netflix has said I'd never seen anyone work. Set that fast and do so little shows to do a special it literally was. I did it in two months. Maybe wow nine shows before I shot it really. Yeah one of the things is when I watched the special that I was reminded of that. I'm always reminded of is you are a very gifted physical comic. Obviously you're a great verbal book median. But when I watch you you're very funny with your body. You're very funny and you're very funny. In in the way I can see the NEWHART influence. I can see that you're so many people are not willing to take the time to just let the expression on your face do the work you And it's really fun watching you in that special do all that physical shtick. That I I was. I thought I think she's having a really fun in time doing this trying on shoes that that the trying on shoes things really funny and I could tell that you were stretching it out you were playing with it and they kept laughing things. You can see what I think. Is You saying I'm going to do this a little more and I'm GonNa do this a little more. I'm going to try these moves and it was really fun like there's nothing nothing more fun than watching someone have a good time right enjoy themselves and then everyone else is happy. Yeah which is which is what doesn't happen when you tour too long and too much with. That's why I only booked you know I did three shows in San Diego three and San Francisco and then three and Seattle where I shot. I just didn't WanNa get bored award with material. I wanted to still have fun. And I thought I'm risking that I won't be ready and completely polished. No the order But I'd rather do that than can then be bored with the material because I get bored really fast so But Yeah I did. I had so much fun and had I done another show or to that shoe. The trying on she routine eighteen would probably be about twenty minutes. Long 'cause I added more moves every night and it was getting to be so ridiculous JEB. That's the fun of it. I Yeah I I. I think there's the good news. The good news is you've checked every box somebody can check in show business from my perspective active. So that's the good news and you've been doing this for a long time and doing it at a high level and then you get the inevitable questions of of you know. So how long do you WanNa keep doing it and in other professions people. Don't just keep coming up to you and saying so. How long did you this? Microbiology thing you know what I mean. And what are you gonNA help. So how much longer the dental reconstruction's going really. Well you'RE GONNA get out sailing. You like why. Why are we getting that question for me? I think there's passive aggressive. Should go with. You is clearly a fear that you will stop so no I but I you know yeah because I think people people know that there's a finite amount of time for us to it's it's just a miracle that our shows have gone as long as they've gone because talk shows don't last asked. I was fortunate to have a conversation with David Letterman. He said the same thing. He said that he got out because he couldn't remember who is guess where her are gone for a little bit and then came back and has a show where there's one guest right he can remember. My solution is to have the same guest every night. SMART actor Richard Kind. Try Getting Richard Kind. Well I can't booked.

This is just my wife and she's made it so normal that <hes> she hasn't made it the she's very very <hes> sneakily snuck into the people and really influenced a lot of people to help a lot of other people even without knowing it and i <hes> i think that's why she's a she's a hero of mine and then i also think that <hes> the cast of will and grace there of mine too because it was the first time i saw like queer people on television yeah well. I mean i feel the same way about ellen. I did not watch will and grace as it originally aired. I don't know why but it's one of those shows that you can only like yes it is it's always timeless <hes> but they were like oh i never watched it religiously <hes> but it was like one or two episodes where he will and jack and i was like what are those. Those are loud men. They are loud men. Yeah ah turn their mics down or up depending on what you want to check on balance. Yes thank you so much okay. "Are you happy to leave it there? The the big M on the stage was. The Mogo for masterclass. Adam beat is gonna wait. I did. I think the one thought that was interesting during that it's like Adam LeVine was acting like Ellen Degeneres of the offense show. And that was like having guests on would do a fun thing. And, you know, do similar fun thing next to them to show. He's a fun person. And he'd be like look guys doing Ellen Degeneres seems like all Squidward within a an fooled meteorites at the earth. And not sure exactly why Squidward was fairly meteorite that there is. And I kind of wish the halftime show at God back around to interrogate that particularly important plot elements that was otherwise neglected through the procession of the rest of the show. So I think that I don't think that that Squidward marshalling the celestial forces of destruction to fire upon Atlanta from great heights and with great force. You know, regardless of its immediate consequences can be neglected in terms of its long-term, meaning and purpose, and and others. Of associations. So right. Well, let's Squidward. Why do you hate America? Plenty what he hated Lanta. All right. Let's leave it there. Thanks very much. Pete for podcasting. Thank you to everyone who listened to who listened Pete stay up really late. And he he board with a lot of difficult technical stuff tonight. So. Methods to get out. That's definitely true the sky. "But then immediately after that a lot of people started to talk about what he had said in the past about queer people gay people his son being gay etcetera. So he called someone a fat faced fake, which is like, obviously. Pretty intense even say that word I'm like kind of start sweating. He said that another from two thousand ten users profile picture looked like a gay billboard for aids. He said you off my son comes home and tries to play with my daughter's Dollhouse, I'm going to break it over his head and say in my voice, stopped that's gay. And then also he has this bit that I watched where he essentially just sees his son grinding on another guy, and he liked panics and pushes them over. And that's the joke, and essentially it's just like really like a violent way trying to make sure that his kid is not gay because being gay is back. And so these these happened a long time ago long time ago ten years ago or something. Yeah. Eight to ten years ago, which is an important part of this story. So we're gonna get to why this has to do with Alan. But I guess maybe I we should talk about that. And it's like he does say that he came forward and apologized about this during a specific press junket, but what was the most important part for us was seeing him then go on the Ellen Degeneres show on Friday and her really. Got behind him and talk the whole stance was like, this is all crazy. That's just internet trolls. And I've called the academy to say that you should host the Oscars because I love you because I went to dinner with you. We've talked this out. And I know that you are a good person you deserve this. And not everyone online who was asking or calling. You out was a hater. And this is where I think we need to start having a conversation because I when I watched the clip of them on Ellen was really like disturbed as a bit by disappointed. I was very disappointed in Allen. And it really made me question. Like, she's been saying recently that she really wants her show to have more like like Chauncey changes show to be a little bit more robust, right? Like going to like knock just like. Yeah. Like dancing in the audience or like random games, which is all fun. And like I only have expected from her because I've always found her tone to be weird when it comes to serious things. And so to me, I was actually really upset about this. Because. When I what I think about this whole conversation. And with Kevin Hart is that if you say things like that whether it's eight years ago, I think that you should just be prepared to be apologizing profusely for those mistakes for the rest of your life. Because I don't think there's anything wrong with apologizing. I think he's a really amazing important aspect of all like it's almost like he has too much self. What's it called? Like he's like so guarded that he felt like offended like on the Ellen show. He pays a victim. Yeah. He's like. On my moral character. It's like, okay. Like actually a lot of people who were talking about this. We're queer people. A lot of them were actually like queer black people being like this. You are. He has a lot of power within the black community saying those things about your son resonates with people a lot more than even Allen to be the one to excuse him. I was reading an article about that. It's like, no he actually should've talked with someone who represented more of the community. He was actually damaging than her. She kind of brushes it off. She says, oh, you know, I'm gay. So I understand all this homophobia staff, and then she moves on. It's like do you really understand? Like, are you the person I think there's a couple different things that people are like conflicting one we've kind of talked about call out culture. And so I think people always jump on this bandwagon of like people are just pissed about everything and everyone just wants to jump up in arms. It's like well that might be partially true. But that doesn't mean there's no real kernel of truth to actually analyzing what's happened here and realizing what he said in the past was damaging was problematic and whether or not he. I apologize..

"Dollars. This is all under the brand. Ellen degeneres. And of course, at the big time animal lover, she has a collection for cats and dogs. Not only this Allen has been a spokesperson for JC Penney. American Express and covergirl, however, her work with covergirl has been under scrutiny as they have not always been cruelty free. But as of November two thousand eighteen they have since stopped animal testing. However, I don't think Eleanor the covergirl anymore in two thousand and ten Ellen started her own record label eleven eleven and she found people by watching the performances on YouTube. She even sign Charlie poof after watching him cover, Adele, someone like you the label is now defunct Charlie is not a part of it. But still kind of cool there is a digital platform Ellen to which streams short-form original content, and she also have Ellen digital ventures, which is in collaboration with Warner Brothers. So this not only. Brings video content but games like the viral sensation heads up that game report the cell phone on your forehead and your friends trying get you to guess the like, oh, you have alligator on your forehead and the time counts down. Yeah. That's full for ninety nine cents a piece in lake twenty five over twenty five million people have bought that app. She also collects executive producer fees on threes. Like little big shots and splitting up together. I've never heard of the shows. I've never watched them. Let me know if they're good. Let me know if I should check them out all day Ellen makes money. She is worth two hundred seventy five million in its the fifteenth highest paid Phillipi. And then the other thing about alum is long when it about about at all is that there was a time when it was right after made the periodic table song slash we also made the signs love song. We're like everyone was tweeting. Like, we're gonna got you on ally. Like my parent. I believe it's like everyone was like standing. I remember like watching Allen and being like super Johnson. Like, what am I going to say going to bed and just being like like spectrum itself walking out being like, I'm good at dancing like I'll hold the rhythm. She'll be it'll be one of those fun moments where she dances with me a little bit longer knows. I gotta I feel like you've told me this image in your mind before you're like ganging dance to can be great like real thing. Looking here. Yarn thousand nineteen dreams did not come true..

"I don't have a plan for the show, and is far as how long it will go or what direction as Ellen said, sometimes the bad. Things are the biggest teachers I found that to be true to who. She is. Now cannot even be compared to who. She was back in nineteen Ninety-seven. I would say she's become more authentically herself. Every new beginning has brought Ellen more fulfilling personal rewards. She's learned that she needs a true partner. She's made her marriage to Porsche Rossi, the center of her happy life. She's living proof that your truth will set you free for all the laughter for the bravery and for just being you Ellen Degeneres. You are a master. I've learned to not compromise. I've learned that if something's good it's good. I used to think I could fix people. I used to be in relationships where I would meet somebody. And I would think oh there's there's so much good here. And if only this in only if I could just and I would I would be in relationships because they obviously I saw. A lot of good in in that person. But I had no word that I wasn't happy or that. I was getting hurt. And so I'm in a relationship now where I have equal love that. I I love her and she loves me, and we respect each other. And we're kind and we're gentle and as someone once said, it's wonderful to be loved. But it's profound to be understood. I think what makes anybody specialists being authentically yourself because there is only one of us in all of time. You know, we each are special and we each or unique. And we each are these brilliant things just allow yourself to be that person allow yourself to make mistakes allow yourself to try things. And so I think that's what makes you special. There are people that don't like me, obviously, very few. I'm sure, but I don't pay attention to it as much, and I don't alter I would never alter the way. I am to change that if. They don't like me. It's I can't I can't do anything about it. Because I really I think I'm a good person. I'm a kind person I try very hard to treat everybody with respect. I want to just be honest. And so this is just who I am. So if you liked me great. And if you don't I don't know why. 'cause I mean, look at me, I don't know what I'm saying anymore. I think that. One of those things in there is true. I'm Oprah Winfrey. And you've been listening to masterclass the podcast. "As a class. This is master class with Ellen Degeneres. I believe in an intelligence by believe there's something that created all of us in all of this. And that there's no way that we just accidentally appeared you can call it. God it's just it's a label that we all decided to put on this intelligence. You think about a man in a white beard and a robe? And I don't know why people think God doesn't have regular clothes. Why God always has to have a robe on? It just seems like couldn't God be wearing a suit or something. I don't know when I was a kid. I wanted to be Diane Fossey, I read National Geographic. That's the only magazine we had in the house. I just was fascinated by Africa. I was fascinated by the guerrillas. And I thought that's what I want to do. I'm going to live in Africa. And I'm gonna save the gorillas, and I'm going to devote my life to that. And somewhere along the line. I realized that I don't like mosquitoes and bugs, and there's a lot of them in the jungles. So I decided maybe there's something else for me to do. But it was very clear to me. I saw things that that other people didn't see and I saw things that weren't either valued or understood or paying attention to. And that's I think why became a comedian because I noticed all the little spaces between all the things that everybody else paid attention to I paid attention to the in between stuff, I was very much tomboy and climb trees and loved animals, and collected everything that was outside that was hurt needed saving. The first thing that I collected was I was at camp. I think I was like ten and some kids were all gathered around and squealing and making noise, and I was trying to figure out what they were doing. They had a stick, and they were poking this baby bird that had obviously fallen out of the nest, and it had no feathers on it was covered with ants, and I ran over and picked it up and held it until it came back to life. And because it was just kind of in shock. I took it home. And I fed it with an eyedropper. I remember helping it learn how to fly, and I remember it just stayed with me just stayed on my finger and it just flew around the porch. I didn't have a doubt in my mind. When I was a kid that I was going to save that thing, and it was gonna live. And I think that's why it did live as an adult, and I look back on how tiny that thing was and how fragile it was. It's it's a miracle. That lived my mom, my dad, my brother Vance and myself, we were very middle-class. We weren't wealthy and fame and money and celebrity was a big deal. So I saw that as a young kid. And so I knew that that would make me special if I was famous, and if I was rich, then people would think I was special. My dad was funny. He was really silly kind of corny. But he was funny and my mother's funny. She's she's very dry and very sarcastic. And I guess she was always funny. I don't remember her so much. Being funny when I was growing up as she is. Now, I grew up in well everywhere around New Orleans. We move about every two years just far enough away to start a new school because it was in a different area. So still in New Orleans, but different schools every two years. My parents divorced when I was thirteen. It was very non-communicative household. So when when the divorce happened when it was just announced that they were divorcing. It was a shock..

Well, I'm I'm Mary Connolly, I'm Kevin even the second glavin. And I'm your host Andy last night. Do that every time. It's your time. We have very special guest. Ellen Degeneres is here. Ellen is here. What are you eating? I'm starving having some almonds and cashews. Okay. So we just we just finished taping show, and we're doing the podcast and Ellen stopped into our special guest today. Yeah. You told me too. Yeah. Oh, yeah. We thought it'd be a nice treat that have something to go to a little later, and you had some free time after the show I had some time. And so I'm here because I shuffled some things around the podcast and made made some room for you. Thank you. So some of the stuff we we'll have to put in later because Ellen's here. Do you talk about plan? Anything not really? But here's what we make this. This was a good week for Ellen Ellen heads some amazing guests here this week. And and some not so mazing. Well. That's not true. That's that's true. Well, one of our favorite people in the world. Jennifer Aniston was here. This was a genuine actual friend of Ellen's rather. They spend time together. Socially, socially. Yeah. Yes. I like her a lot, and she's my friend. What does she think of you? I don't know. No. She loves you. She seems like she likes. She seems like. Yeah. What about the birthday party idea? That's such a great idea. She seems open to that. She does. One hour on the show celebrating their life and their birth. She doesn't need to spend time in makeup and come work. I mean, it's work. I think she felt like it would take pressure off her that we would sort of fed her. We'll somebody's gonna do something. It's not like no one's doing something for but deal. It's nice that you're doing it and take it in. Well, we just walked by the picture of your sixtieth birthday party on show. We know how to throw a good. I hope she does she's gonna do it. We FaceTime a lot really. Do you like seeing someone while you're talking to him on the phone? I hate FaceTime. I don't she's a big fan of FaceTime. And she started it and then now every once in a while one spot. Yes, usually I'm usually in bed like because it's nine thirty. And she's you know. Hate it. Really? If you're gonna be on the phone. Also. You also have that out of proportion head. So it's close to probably. The whole thing doesn't get in. Rotating FaceTime, right? I think. Ellen and Jennifer Aniston, always fun homerun fun. Take a listen..

"Our highest rated show from the top of the season until twelve days. Yes. And then what's amazing is over the course of the years that we've been doing the show you have fallen more deeply in love with the Halloween show every year. It's allies. No, no, no. I'm going to say I'm going to say you may not want to admit it, but you you like it more than you used to? Well, that's not saying much well by saying, I like it more than I used to. But now I mean, it's it's sometimes it's funny and sometimes it's it's, yeah, it's fun. It's fine. I can tell you having with very funny. Yeah, like the writers try to surprise you in the morning. That is my favorite part of the day somehow that has to be that's never been for sixteen years. Let me explain what happens in our morning meeting for the last sixteen years. Kevin orchestrates all the writers to dress up and they come into our meeting. None of us know what they're going to be dressed up. Usually in the fem- in. This show on the show Ellen and but it's never reported. No one gets for my birthday in for Halloween. All the writers come in and do something for me. And it's obviously because their comedy writers, they're hilarious and the costumes are very creative. Sometimes we can't air the things. Sometimes we do pretty much never. With your gift with Porsche, every bursary we're already struggling like, what are we gonna do this year? We have no idea because all of our best ideas, we've done one idea, but we'll see. Yeah, I don't know. Ahead do you do you plan that apple now? Usually three weeks out, but he always downplays it like if we ask him about it, he's like, I don't know. We have no idea what he's going to do until he walks into the room. I know they're good when they make me nervous and like Melissa, he goes home and he makes the costumes. Here's my question. When you're out, obviously in public, you get a lot of people approaching you because you're Ellen Degeneres. Are you getting a lot of feedback about the podcast. When you out there, what? What? What are you hearing? Yeah, the buzz is an enormous saying, what is it what right now? I know it was number five. Where are we right now in the podcast. Here number one, but we just crossed over five hundred thousand. Five hundred thousand people have the potential to to listen to the podcast every week, and now it's not that they do. And now that they know you're a regular part now that they know that you're gonna hear every week. I'll be here every week and dress up. Today. Yeah, yeah, thank you. Yeah, very low. Thank you. These are killing my feet most. Yeah, most people dress up like that for a show and then change into normal close after yet. I wear. I wear pants suit on the show. And then when I changed to to drive home, I'm in a either a gown or a short cocktail dress. So you like to drive in a he'll surprised pump is the best way to drive is a is in a pump. And that way, if I'm speeding. Yeah, just a pump and a two. Leading, I can. I can get out of it that way. That's why don't. Yep. I'm getting attacks. Go ahead. Yes, is blowing up. He's probably for Mandy. I just texted her. Stop talking so much. It's more about me here. Picking out presents is hard, and this is Kevin from Ellen on the go.
