"Where this is the kind of software that your boss me the install on your computer before sending it home with you. PC or your your laptop. In order to keep tabs on what you're doing. It allows employers to check up Take a screenshot of what's happening on your screen or even to snap a picture with the Webcam. You know what it's all legal in the United States. So you are do you have? I guess you might ask your boss like hey, just a heads up, although it might make you look bad, if you're like, Hey, boss, Thanks for the computer that you're giving me so I can work from home. Just curious. Did you put ball swear on it? Because they might go? Mm. Does that mean the gym is going to not work from home? What does this mean? Exactly? Or is it your right to ask? It is your right? Sure it is, You know, And it's if it's your boss is right to put that on your computer to your right to say Is this on here and I don't know if you can You know you if Complain and get it taken off. But, yeah, you've got every right to do that, But I think it's a small minority of employers who are actually actually using this stuff. Recent survey suggested that most employers are satisfied that their workers who are at home and telecommuting are doing what they're supposed to be doing every day they're clocking in, and they're making the sales calls they need to be making, or they're attending the zoom meetings. They're supposed to be out and so productivity is measured in a different way in the same way that it is in the office. But as a small percentage of those bosses maybe don't trust that. And so they're they're putting these kinds of boss wear or spyware or title aware. All those computers Jim I could also see that maybe if you're an employee that doesn't seem to be pulling your weight, and they say, Hey, let's you know, Jen, why don't you bring your computer in today and let me do a quick update on it? You might think to yourself. Oh, does that mean they're going to install something on it? Because they've caught me. Yeah, well, I mean, the the companies that make that sort of software do recommend that the employers tell their employees that it's there. Let them know you know, in the same way that if you're in the office in the actual office and you're working on your computer and your boss's glancing over your shoulder walking past, you know that person is there in the same way that you can You know the employers, I think er are more inclined to tell you that that's happening. And so, yeah, there are ways that in some employees are fighting back. I guess in companies are profiting off it, for example. The makers of black electrical tape, you know, pulling off a strip of that putting it on the cameras so that they can't see what you're up to, or something called the mouse jiggle. Or now, ostensibly this thing. There are dozens of them listed on Amazon, for example. It will either physically move your mouse around to keep your computer awake. You know that. It's ostensibly designed to do that, so that your computer isn't constantly falling asleep. This thing keeps it awake. Well, it also tells your boss that you're actually sitting there at your at your desk, moving the mouse around and presumably your working, so it's kind of the battle of the tech now between bosses and employees. All right, Jim. Thank you so much for that. I appreciate it. Thanks, Jim. Now I know what not to do or what to be looking for a B CS Jim Ryan. See, I told you Did you know that stuff like that existed? I mean, I guess I figured that any anything that you get from work. I assume I kind of assume it's just works and that they would have the opportunity to go back and look at whatever my history. My, uh, you know the crazy things that I look up. Granted in radio. We can always say I was looking that up for a story because Think about it. Think about what my search history must look like just over the last few days. All those stories we did on Ron Jeremy yesterday. Yeah, Let's just leave it at that. Mhm. Right, Let's get back to some of the stories coming out of the K F I 24 hour newsroom. People in South Lake Tahoe say they are grateful to be able to return home even though a huge wildfire is still much a threat. So nice to be home and I just pray for everybody else. About 22,000. Officials say the weather has been helping crews fight the fire, which has burned more than 216,000 acres over the last three weeks. Anaheim Fire and Rescue and U. C. Irvine's regional Burn Center have joined with the National Burden Survivors Group to convince people to have a checklist, an evacuation route and the backup plan during wildfire season. The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors says the campaign will use burn survivors and those who have narrowly escaped a fire to convince people The importance of being prepared. A woman featured in the campaign says she barely escaped a wildfire in Northern California and looking back she wished she had worn jeans had a fireproof blanket and a solid evacuation plan. And, you know, I know it's It's kind of like having an earthquake kit. Right? You probably have one of those because we've had that, you know, Pound it into our head. Have an earthquake kit have an earthquake kit. And we've all been through an earthquake. And at the end of that, you know those terrifying 30 seconds. You think to yourself. Oh, my God. I wish I had put together an earthquake kit, And sometimes that's the motivator that you need. But for a lot of us who haven't been through a fire until you have been through a fire. You don't think about having sort of a fire kit and a fire plan and those sorts of things, But I'm telling you once you have been through a fire and you get that knock on the door from the fire department. Hey, get out! Get out! Get out! It's the same. It's that same chill that you get in a major earthquake. I promise you, Lisa was for me. Well. "In in the morning as he talks about Virginia elections as well vents Connie's alongside merry Walter good morning joining us now Lou grows the athletes the investigative reporter for the daily caller news foundation look welcome back how are you I think for me you have a piece of the daily caller about school districts pushing busing and you know Howard County Maryland and Fairfax county Virginia the school boards are pushing plans to bus students because of poverty rate so what equalize poverty rates I'm not quite sure what that does buy equalize it quote unquote equalizing poverty rates so what is the idea behind that what does that do number one and number two didn't we do this in the seventies found out that it failed miserably and got rid of it so why do it again yes service basically based on the very crude observation that schools with a lot of rich people tend to have higher average test scores and so apparently they made the mistake of assuming that that meant that the poor kids in the schools have their outcomes improved by being around other rich Elizabeth Schulze one of the two Republicans on the school board had been asking for data that for for the last eighteen months staying is there any benefit in terms of our own counties data showing that this kind of these advantages that wealthy kids to rub off through proximity and they could never provided and so in Howard County they're going through the same thing right now and you know people in power are really doing is they're saying we would do anything to turn back time and not vote for Democrats in the last school board race because now they're doing by saying and there's a DHD person like researcher there that ran the data and shows there is no connection between the demographics of the school and the way that our poor kids before in other words for kids themselves tend to not do as well but it doesn't really matter who they're around being near rich kids is not enough to improve outcomes and so I decided to do the same read our same analysis using Fairfax's on data and what I found is that the schools in Fairfax that are currently the most equitable for the most diverse are also the ones that have the worst outcomes for both poor and the rich kids and so when the Fairfax county school board has spent the last eighteen months pursuing what they call the nuclear option of redrawing all school boundaries and sink their school boards number one mandate is equity and fixing segregated schools none of this would help kids weren't which I would've thought is the main goal of the schools right another is their prioritizing as social justice agenda over an egg education agenda and it's reflected in the scores seems like their focus on something that's not education means that every student is having lower educational outcomes based on your research look yeah that's right I mean so there's right now thirty five percent of students in Fairfax live in poverty and if you look at the school that has exactly thirty five percent poverty rate right now it's a field secondary school and that has the worst outcomes in the county by far for wealthy students and then it's also got the third worse third worst scores for poor kids in so you know there may be is arguably some benefit to poor kids to being in a school that's like ninety percent rates the problem is we don't have enough rich kids in the counties federal all around equally and get that result if you want to do equity the way they're talking about what they what they're talking about is having every school be thirty five percent for any just turns out that that is kind of the absolute it's not the sweet spot it's the opposite it's the worst ratio you can have because then you're not really needing the specialized needs of either poor kids or rich kids and so if you look at Hey field middle school no I'm sorry if you look at sea and bird middle school that's a school that's the kind of exactly the fifty fifty mark half French half for and that is the poor kids actually did better who is is this the pork is actually excuse me did worse at that that very mixed economically mixed school fifty fifty poor rich then they did at school that are like eighty percent for in it that's really surprising when you think about it I mean it's basically saying socio economics the integrated schools are not core are inversely correlated with achievement supported but it kind of makes sense if you think about it because if you've got a lot of similarly situated students all in one place you can meet them where they are and you can provide them with their specialized needs whether that is English as a second language teachers or social workers or whatever they may need it just kind of very striking that the board's number one mandate was something that they had never looked at the data for considering that these are these are educators and you would think that they were driven by research it for such an important thing yeah you know when when people are really their lives their day to day experiences in whether kids going to school if you're gonna separate kids from their from their friends you would have thought they would have looked at whether there's it it it helps their educational outcomes at all in in the answer is very definitively using Fairfax's on data is that moving kids around based on the parent's bank account does not work but but if we've done again we did this in the seventies but they did it based on skin color they did it based on race if we put if we take kids and it was kind of someone to to a certain degree also a poverty issue if we took kids from poor black neighborhoods and bus them across the state to a richer you know a a richer all white school that somehow these kids lives were going to change what they found out is that the kids from the same neighborhood hung out together they didn't really integrate with the the white kids in in the majority white school they they also they sat together at lunch they sought each other out those with the same those are the groups that they moved in because you're taking kids as you just said from their friends from what they know from their neighborhoods and putting them in a different neighborhood I think the solution is what what's going wrong in that neighborhood you know what's going on you got to have parents involved this is so much of a of a day okay I guess a more complex problem other than we're gonna put your kid on a bus for an hour a day in his life is going to change an hour each way and their life is going to change your ticket right away when the Democrats they were not doing by saying well what they're doing is going to be more akin to gerrymandering they're going to draw the lines with little pockets you're in there to make sure that the schools are all bounce out by by income but it doesn't work and they know it it's for kids what it works for is for administrators because the Democrats have been in charge of the schools for decades in the achievement gap between the races in two in the classes it's gotten worse under their watch that they don't know how to take this low performing kids and they can do better out of options but what they realize is well if we take kids that are already scoring highly on tests and swap them out with local forming kids then we raise the average test scores in the entire school which makes it look better and it makes it look like we don't have these glaring hot spots that need to be addressed but they haven't raised the scores of individual students and so this is the the reason that Fairfax politicians administrators wanted to buy things to cover up the fact that there are poor performing schools and to give up on having to figure out how to fix these kids educational outcomes it's masking the problem if it that ministry instead of rising all instead of raising all boats they're just gonna lower the high performing boats down to the level of the other kids in that low all look we've raised scores you really haven't look this is so interesting I can find it at the daily caller dot com thank you so much really appreciate you are all the insight and all the research you did into this thank you thank you seven.

"The information you need about how you should be voting on the important races facing us next Tuesday in northern Virginia and and in my mind I know that there are a lot of racism we've interviewed a lot of the candidates in my mind the most important races have to do with the Fairfax county school board what did you do you think of all of the major issues here on a local level as well as national level in some cases that we have talked about well you have been angry about the you have tweeted at me about the your Facebook me about your sent emails about the you've called in to really voice our concerns about and all roads lead back to our schools and all roads in most cases since it's one of the most populous regions in this area have to do with the Fairfax county school board that's why you've heard almost every single candidate endorsed by the Republican Party they're they're independent candidates they're non partisan you've heard all the ones that are on the Republican slate on this program that's how important it is it's more than just a school board it affects all of our lives joining us right now is a sitting member of the school board Elizabeth Schultz also on the ballot thanks for joining us Hey I'm about we'll be here and I'm gonna tell you if there was ever a report alleging that people are going to pay attention to this is an off off election and it doesn't seem like it's not important but this is the one that's going to determine the future of Fairfax county why is that because we have this policy that has been embedded into the Fairfax County Board of supervisors and the school board called one Fairfax through which and you've been talking about it yeah that's what manner today but the lens of equity is being applied to every single decision in the county and it goes back to you know conversations that were happening at the top level between the superintendent and the county staff in the county executive yell and they told us a message to us where this was going and this is why I've been concerned all along is that this is going to address school boundaries we engineering schools addressing of potentially busing students and she we're lying I had to beat last night and the only the only thing that both of the candidates who are closing in my district how to say it your life hearing about one Fairfax and you know Howard County parents have figured it out and they're violently opposing the difference and then the school board over there they're using the phrase kids before politics and don't take the unity out of community and that's exactly what the Fairfax county parents and taxpayers need to understand is that this is a widespread effort to we engineer our the way we do government by Hollywood by George Soros you know you've heard the previous Canada in another jurisdiction this is eighty eight and very intentional effort but I gotta tell ya I was was sold arm I'm feeling something and sensing something from certain candidates here that I haven't seen in a is several years that I've covered these local elections from yourself to Stephen Moseley Laura Ramirez train to other great Priscilla distefano we had on last week Vincent Apollo thing all that we had yesterday there are citizens who have had it up to here they have become motivated they said that's it I'm making a difference I'm done complaining I'm get non that school board and you guys are very well organized this time around well the thing is is that if you talk about a message that is around something that touches people people get motivated to get motivated to run to get motivated to support candidates and they get motivated to hopefully vote and you know I look back to our strategic work session that we had with the superintendent last November and he said that that the town vacunas said that we are not going to probably be seeing any more money from the county until they see boundary changes happening and they want them to happen rather than later and that that's if the if the board of supervisors who holds the purse strings is electing us and they're evil budget guidance that followed in April of this year said specifically that they recommended that the school board consider you know these boundary changes especially through the lens of one Fairfax you see yeah they say all they want all these radical Canada through wanting to say we're not gonna buster student with this isn't about boundary changes but a school board and and superintendent and the senior staff of the comfort of them in the United States don't spend eighteen months revising our policy and not you yeah and let's face it Elizabeth souls they said they were going to change the names of schools they just wanted to have a committee explored the idea they said they were going to allow biological young man the into the same bathroom locker room with biological young women they was all just about fairness and accessibility and look at what happens they say that all the time and then they go ahead and push their agenda through well this is the thing are we in Fairfax county going while rather cool Canada who were asked by the shin wide Argosy group people like camallo hearers lose Warren Robert Francis so well for her and Alec Baldwin who went door knocking with with Hollywood actors like Alec Baldwin in Fairfax county you'll be who you want deciding a local school board election for the choice is either the local border you know what local school board policy local boundaries how are teachers are paid one number that we have an elected school board since nineteen ninety four one party had a majority for four years last week we had teacher after teacher upper teacher the teacher associations up in front of us hello how how bad the bullying is going on in our schools administrator teacher teacher teacher to student I mean honestly the status will word meaning I think I've ever been to and I thought sure that's supposed to be in our strategic plan is held by at any time seven votes of the sport and you can block vote when you have a super majority for twenty four years only one voice there's only one path you're only one chairmanship for twenty four years and we're we're is the breakdown you have a super majority on the board of supervisors you have a super majority on the school board if the Democrats are giving the Democrats money and this is who's where you can write a culture you don't vote for change it's one thirty roll from her you got to change top to bottom one party rule and it's not working Elizabeth Schulze as one of the few voices on that school board in Fairfax county speaking out and she needs company so go to Fairfax twenty nineteen get all the information good luck on election day all four don't forget the three at large that's right all four votes it is up for fifty six we were to get ahead.
