'Doctor Strange 2' Loses Director Scott Derrickson
"The director of Doctor Strange Josh will no longer be directing doctor. Strange in the multi verse of Madness. Ben What is going on here. Yeah so Scott Erickson who directed the first doctor strange film and and as of yes or all the way up until yesterday was attached and announced in all of that stuff to be directing the doctor strange sequel. He announced on twitter marble and I have mutually agreed agreed to part ways on doctor strange in the multi of madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP. So that's that's executive producer. That's kind of an interesting thing. In and of itself took a lot of times when people have creative differences they just like split entirely. I'm wondering if it has something to do with. Maybe like a store like just a the development process in like how much work was put into the movie if marvel sort of like throwing him a bone for the work that he did their contractual to like. He's going to get money on this and it was probably part of this deal with the first one. If they made a sequel that he would remain main honest producer. Right Right James Gone. I think was going to be producer on guardians. Three after he was fired right which brings us to the question. How many marvel directors have been have like they weren't he wasn't fired they have split the both agreed flint? Right right. Yeah it's pretty rare for marvel studios goes to part ways with directors like this like. I think it's only happened twice so far with thor. The dark world where Patty Jenkins was originally announced. And then Alan Taylor ended up coming on directing that movie. And then the original ant man which Edgar Right was famously on board to make for years and years and then ended up stepping away. Sort of at the last minute and taking ended ended up coming in and he's become director for for all three of those franchise entries the third one is is upcoming but This is one of those turned out. Good one of those turned out bad What does this mean for? Why do you think Scott Dirksen left this? Because there's there's a couple theories he's going around the Internet. There's obviously when this was first announced. There was at a Scott. COMECON this year I think Derek San Rafael our fight. He was talking about how this is going to be kind of horror film of sorts. Yeah they said it was basically going to be like the first scary movie and the MC you and there've been a couple of stories about that where I think have himself has been talking about how Dr Strange supposed to have you know horror elements but not like full on horror movie. I it's never been like. The new mutants was originally sort of pitched as like a horror movie in the X.. Men World it's never been as explicit that I think he has his call. Hollowed out like You know the ending of Raiders Lost Ark and like things like Made some of the Amblin productions like that level of Scary stuff within a larger adventure story. So yeah I guess one of those theories you're talking about is that maybe Scott Erickson. WHO's more of a whore guy himself? He's directed the exorcism of Emily. Rosen sinister and movies like that Maybe he wanted to push the horror a little bit more than marble was interested in pushing it and that could be where those creative differences lie. Do you have another theory. Peter I have one. What will the other thing is that? That's interesting about the theory is fight. He's done some interviews recently where quick you mentioned he's kind of walked back the the the horror angle of that even though they lead with that at at COMECON so that's what why people are leading to that but the other theory is that this film film is going to tie into the Disney plus Empty you universe. was that what you were going to mention. It was yeah because like this sequel is really being positioned positioned more than any of the other Announced Movies of the MC you as like a very important thing to the future of what marvel is doing because Feigen has talked about. Ah being basically like a creative linchpin he said the multi versus the next step in evolution of the MC. You and doctor strange in the multi. Madison's GonNa crack it open in ways that will have repercussions Russians and he's talking about repercussions for like the movies after it as well as the Disney plus series that you mentioned one division the Elizabeth Olsen Paul all Bethany Disney plus show and low key. The one with Tom Huddleston where he's reprising. His villain role are both going to tie into the movie doctors trained to you in some way. So maybe it's a case of like derricks in just being overwhelmed with the amount of requirements in terms of like this grand designs of the story. I don't want to put that on him. That's completely speculation. He'd be totally fine with that. I'm just sort of looking at it from the outside in with our limited perspective. Respective here just thinking about potential obstacles that he could or that that marvel could encounter here. That could be something like that but I guess Swab to wait and see if if any more official information ever comes out about why they ended up parting ways in this capacity

"If I forty more stimulating talk show for just tuning in. We're talking about the event that is of ventures in game. Not only would it being. So the box office not only what it means to cinematic history. But what it means going forward? It's the end of a ten year twenty two movie story arc in the cinematic sense. But there'll be more movies, which are coming from the MC, you the marvel cinematic universe, and they're also TV shows, which will be born out from this particular phase of marvel movies Twala. We know the Disney app is coming and there is some special programming which is coming specifically out of this marvel phase, which is only going to be on the Disney app. The low-key series the wand division series Wanda. Which guess scarlet witch and a vision of the show is going to be called Wanda vision of and then you have foul kin and the winter soldier, but there's going to be the actual accuracy. Not someone playing them. It's going to be the the movies. No, yeah. No, no, no, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul bitney, the characters playing a scarlet witch and vision of Tom hilson, the actor who portrays LOKI he this is his series. This is Anthony Mackie and Sebastian STAN series, you know, that is tied directly into the marvel cinematic universe. These aren't just like well shows that act like the movies didn't happen. Here's the only thing. And this this is how I'm going to avoid. I know what you mean. Those no spoilers is that these shows can be set in these characters pass present or. Future. That's gonna be the thing too. I myself after watching avengers in game. I know exactly how the low key show rolls out. How many times have you seen it? So far three. Going in for fourth tomorrow. What do you get from that second or third or fourth viewing? What is different? What's the appeal? Okay. The first viewing is just just to be a part of the moment. I've been waiting for this the first showing is Christmas morning. The second showing is okay. Okay. Okay. There's some things that's on the first one that I want to go back and check the third one was just hey man is wanted just sit back and enjoy this film as a non nerd just someone who wants to come in. Appreciate the cinematography and the spectacle of it all and the fourth one is after I've gone through and looked at several different reviews. Listen to our owner to Rama and thoughts that have come out of the Fridays roundtable to then go back and double check some of my arguments and some of those presented in that podcast, which is a an available right now on iheartradio, which has more than twenty five thousand downloads. You have to check it out. We have a very special ext. Attended roundtable discussion of adventures in games more than an hour is very raw in nature. So it's only for people who have seen the movie and pretty familiar with the marvel cinematic universe is we talk about more than just as we're talking about connected movies and history of these characters, and it's really indepth. That's where people who really that particular episode is for people who really really know or want to know about the marvel cinematic universe and the significance of event avengers in game. Which is we've already discussed will probably gross more than a billion dollars worldwide this weekend alone. It's never been seen before in cinematic history. Not from Bach box office standpoint, not from a movie making standpoint because the idea of having twenty two movies, actually connected. Had of course, never been done before. And to think it could be done and. He received on this level is something that I'm quite sure movie historians will be debating and discussing for ever, and I'm not saying that for hyperbole or effect. It is a tremendous achievement. The whole idea of let me back up if ironman the first ironman failed or any movie along the way failed. It would not have propelled them to the next movie. You can't talk about a twenty two movies story arc if the early ones fail. This is all contingent upon even though the plan was in place. It's all contingent upon each movie having a modicum of success, and they've all been successful in the box office. There are two standouts that have received a healthy healthy dose of fan criticism being Thor the dark world and iron man three for me. I would add captain marvel to that list of but even still those films when compared to any other film in January. Are still superior which only leads to why this film is so successful. Why the hype is so real this has been a real adventure? Not just the television shows again, there's some real inside baseball stuff for those of us who watch series like aging Carter and agents of shield, there's some real Jewison real payoffs. You know, if you've been a fan this long you've been following these films. The payoffs are very very real they're exciting. They're fun. I laughed. I cried I laughed again. I cry to get it it so many motions the hairs on my arm standing up throughout. I like Spiderman watching this thing. It's crazy. So what what's next you have a twenty two movie story arc and is that over do they start all the way over or what this is the end of the first star story art the 0 saga. It begins again, a new with what will be the official forth phase of the marvel cinematic universe, which will kick off the next story arc. There are films that have been placed on the list like Shanxi, the eternal a black widow solo film, of course, doctor strange to end Black Panther too. So we shall see now that they have access to have of FOX properties back into the fold. They now have access to X men and fantastic four dead pool is someone that both Bob Iger and Kevin Feige have touted as like their one main thing that they wanted out of the deal. They're like X men. The fantastic four could have the back in the family, but we both wanted dead pool into the marvel cinematic universe and is all officially under one roof. Now, there isn't going to be. You know, a marvelous intimate universe? And now they've just taken over the FOX properties. No, it's like, no, we're all going to be under the same roof moving forward. So these will all be properties that we have. Oh, I almost forgot the the marvel what if series? What if was a comic book based on like, what if you know, the punisher was bitten by a radioactive, spider and gain the powers of van, boom. The first of the what if a series today on the Disney plus app is what if Playgie Carter had received the super soldier serum. And Steve Rogers got a super powered suit of armor from Howard stark. A lot of becoming down the pipe. Yeah. All right. This is the most Kelly show. You just hear the enthusiasm in his voice WBZ news. When we come back KFI AM six forty four stimulating talk should pay with the news.

No because I put it on the main. Joel peanuts, Mr. Weinstein. Khan. I want to hunt. You. This twenty nine thousand nine is Ben Wishaw ause year Armie hammer. No, no year is army Hammonds. Oh, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, almost he had half a year. He's great. I love him never a year. Because because it was a twin was it. Well, yeah. But I mean, he had like lone ranger, and then there that's garbage. What's your what's your is going to be Elizabeth Olson's here one of the twins? She's she's getting rich is getting scarlet which TV show. She's not getting a year some actors already had their surge. And that's what they're writing out now. So she had her Colt movie where she showed her boobs and everyone's like, she's the best all she boobed. There's an injury that shows boobs. Are you guys kidding me? Olsen booed kidding me. I think I think. I think I was doing. What was your name again, Elizabeth Olsen scarlet witch? Oh, come on guys boob. Get your shit together. Not working. I mean, you gotta turn off safe. Search my friends. So so she runs like, oh, she's things really good in that movie. And that's what got her into Scarlett which territories she's already writing with some cycle. Have. It's like a wave that when they ride. Why assume they're someone who's trying to protect her. Who's like we've seen what happened to the other Olson's famous like, we gotta keep you. Oh, dear that keep you grounded. You got it over there. What's how's it doesn't look like that doesn't look like her? But no on camera. Okay. Good. I think it's a look at boobs at works fine. Life's good. Oh, that's a that's an that's a. I don't know what it's called. I just know it as the movie where she shows her boobs, and she's in a cult Lawrence is how dick, but or something they kinda, but I'll be using the computer later. Was the door. Locked. Right. So we agreed. It's a thing to Han. Dane DeHaan Sam year data on up and coming actors. Took me a minute finally got around to watching nineteen ninety nine. She's all that. And that movie has every one that was going to be popular in the next fifteen years in it. Yeah. It's every last one like the nine thousand nine nine hundred ninety nine version of Black Hawk Down, which also came out ninety nine thousand two thousand one I think it had I was just watching the movie that had Paul Walker. It had the news from twenty years ago. I was about twenty nineteen. I'm just saying I'm just saying if if this word nineteen ninety nine that would be the movie you go to and find all I think people on the upswing. So maybe that's the thing twenty nine teen will repeat the two, right? Oh, get a bunch of movies that have all the actors in it that are going to be the only actors. We're going to be seeing for the next twenty. Yeah. What is what is the? She's all that code. Oh, yeah. Go go with sweet. I know. It's okay. I was I was fine. It's fine. Soundtrack by it's a great movie to discover when you're just kind of starting to understand these can be really good to me. Oh, Oh. and then you're like this, isn't like other movies. Transmute for me like that was snatched from me, and those are both kind of similar in terms of like, this is not a normal three AC movie. Oh, always telling fiction feel like you got lost in the woods. And you look under a rock, and you found a DVD of go. God, this is his mind. Like, no, thousands of people worked on this thing to give it to you because it's a commercial product, and they want you to watch it if given the choice to watch go or two hundred cigarettes, I'll fucking watch go..

"Low-key show in scarlet witch TV series. Chris, what do we know. Disney streaming service, which is currently called Disney play as far as we know they're going all in their goal to defeat net flicks and the plan now is to develop several different marvel cinematic universe TV shows that will focus on what they're calling. Second tier characters, basically characters who haven't had their own standalone movies are going to get their own TV shows and they're starting off with a both a scarlet which show any low-key show and not only that, but both Elizabeth Olsen and Tom hilson are both expected to reprise their roles for these TV shows, which is, you know, there was a time when this would be like unheard of, but I guess you know, the times are changing and Disney has enough money to make this happen yet. I, you know, we've been theorising about a marvel TV show on this Disney streaming service since it was announced, but not in my wildest magic nations. Would be actually get a show with one of the, you know, the main characters from the marvel cinematic universe. Like, you know, I thought and most it would be like, you know, a side side character kind of like Colson in each shield or a world like what Kanda. But I'm just wondering, like I know LOKI is beloved, but how many people are really itching for a scarlet which movie. Maybe it will. It will cover the time period where we we discover why and how her accent goes in and out somewhere. I think that's doubtful. I don't know. I mean, maybe it could be more of a romance kind of thing. You know, dealing with her and vision, and we don't know how things are going to pan out with the vendors for I should probably say what I'm about to say spoilers for the first few minutes of of injures Infinity war, although I don't know why you'd be listening to the spot cast if you still haven't seen that film, how are they going to have look in this movie? Because I know even even though we all imagine that of interest for is going to restore order to the moral cinematic universe that everybody that kind of disintegrated would be restored..

"Much better than that the problem is is an underserved role i don't think scarlet which envision could ever handle their own solo movie but elizabeth olsen is a really good actress here because she makes me believe in her love for vision and when i saw it in i max and saw her tears and saw her lip quivering at times she's really selling this emotion she needs to because we don't care really about these characters other than look cool and have cool powers and perhaps again or overpowered for what the marvel universe has been yeah she's capable of more and you know i don't really care about in this film what happened to cap cap gets this ultra dramatic entrance i mean silhouette catching the spear in the air they're trying but surprisingly he is muted in this movie i was surprised at how little i care about cap in this film that scarlet which envision have a much bigger story line than he does is a shocker he gets the most lines of any of the supporting characters but when i said there were five stories vision and scarlet which are the story we're going to follow that from now on bruce banner warmachine falcon and black widow and eventually black panther and winter soldier going to be hangers onto don't you mean blonde widow scholar changed her hair yeah they're all in disguise right capped america's got the beer scarlet hanson's gone blonde because i guess they're on the bad side of the law they're being hunted supposedly but anthony mackie lewis just fine no whatever recognize them to the mac it's anthony mackie.
