"This is episode 981. Welcome to the daily meditation podcast. I honor you for being right where you are. As you get ready to do a meditation technique, that could make all the difference in your day to give you a little more peace, energy and clarity. In today's episode, you're going to discover a meditation technique to help you improve your relationship with your self. And you'll do this and I encourage you to do this in a walking meditation. I know it's not always possible to get out there and walk. So if you can't do that, then at least open a window or a door where you normally sit to meditate and allow yourself to connect with the outdoor environment. And I am Mary McLeod. I share a different meditation technique every single day on this podcast. And this is a technique that you can do in your own meditation. I share full guided meditations, half hour meditations, on my website at sip and om dot com. It's SIP, a and D OM dot com. And that's where you can find over 900 meditations that are customized for you around weekly themes so you can explore a particular topic in depth so you can really master the quality in your life. And there you also get a journal and a guide. So you can go a little deeper with your meditation ritual. So that is always an option for you if you'd like a little bit more than a technique. Well, for the technique today that I encourage you to take into your own meditation or as you even go about your day. It is a walking meditation technique that you can do. I like you to do this because it's a way for you to close out our 7 part series. We've been exploring. This has been a series all about relationships and how the quality of your relationships has a direct influence on the quality of your health and well-being. So throughout this series, you've explored meditation techniques to help you manage relationships that might be difficult and how to nurture those relationships that feed your soul and you've also discovered insight and inspiration about how you can directly influence your health, especially your telomeres, those are like caps at the end of shoelaces. These are actually caps that are at the end of your chromosomes. And research recently has shown us that you can lengthen your telomeres, which represents lengthening your life, the longer your telomeres, the longer, is your lifespan, the shorter your telomeres, the shorter your lifespan. This has been a groundbreaking research by doctor Elizabeth Blackburn, who shared a Nobel Peace Prize for the discovery of these telomeres and how they influence longevity. You've also discovered how what you do in your lifestyle and especially in relationships because relationships are one of the number one stressors how when you have nurturing relationships, this can help you to live longer. So there has been a lot going on in this series, and now today I encourage you to celebrate the last final day of the series by getting outside and connecting with your environment. If you can't, if you can't, as I mentioned, just go ahead and do your regular meditation or whatever you might be doing as you listen to these episodes and practice doing this wherever you are. So as you go out into your world, consider the meditation techniques that worked well for you. This week, and if you're just joining us, consider what it is that you might do for yourself that helps to instantly calm you. Is it a breathing technique? Is it repeating an affirmation? Is it holding your hand in a mudra or doing yoga? Or spinning time with someone who lifts you up or getting a good night's sleep. Just consider what makes you feel better, become aware of it. Listen. Our affirmation this week was listen, listen, listen. Listen to yourself, notice how you harbor stress in your life. Notice where you feel it in your body

"Lots of veggies. And making sure you're having the right timing and balance of protein, the right quality of timing of eating. So all this is, by the way, in the book, in a very specific way. So I encourage you to check it out. So I literally could do a whole podcast just on the haw on the first hallmark of aging, but I want to cover all of them without kind of boring you too much. So I want to get into this. And the reason I go through these hallmarks in the book is because it's important to understand why we age. What's going wrong? How do we work on it? What are the reasons why we have to do the things we have to do in order to increase our health span in our lifespan. And once you understand that, you're more motivated to go, oh, jeez, if I do this, it's going to screw up this hallmark. You might think twice about it. And then you're empowered to deal with the root causes of it as well. The second hallmark is something you probably wear, which is DNA damage and mutations. This happens all the time. Every day we get a death by a thousand cuts. Literally a 100,000 little hits every single day in our DNA has to repair itself. Now, even if you repaired 99.9% of your DNA every day, which we do, there's still kind of this rogue DNA damage. Over time, those accumulate the accelerate, and they affect our reproduction of new cells and are mitosis and our ability to actually replicate the things we need to replicate. So basically, it's kind of wild, but their DNA is required to create all the things our bodies do. And it's basically the blueprint in each cell. And your DNA reproduces basically ten quadrillion times every time through cell division over your lifetime. That's an enormous amount. And it's like a copy machine. And they're glitches in the copy machine. And then your DNA blueprint can be produced with these glitches. Well, what do you do to address that? First, you want to avoid the things that cause DNA damage, which is what we just talked about the sugar processed food, all that crap. Environmental toxins, radiation, by the way, stress also will do it. And second, you can activate your DNA repair systems. And the beautiful thing about the body is it has these innate healing systems. It's incredibly deep wisdom of what to do to heal repair and regulate itself. We've just interfere with those systems, which is why we have so much disease. So doing that, you can actually activate your DNA repair systems. One of the ways is by activating your two ends, for example, with NAD or NR NMN. And I go through all that in the book. What's the next hallmark? Telomere shortening. Telomeres are these little caps at the end of our chromosomes that prevent the chromosomes from unraveling and they have to be kind of opened up when we replicate and then they close back up. Well, they kind of shorten as we age and then eventually become too short and they're still can't replicate and they die. This process called apoptosis, which is good or they become zombie cells, which is another hallmark of aging. We'll talk about which then just run around spewing inflammation everywhere in the body. And so, you know, this problem is an issue for many people as they're telling me you're shortening your life shortens, but what causes them to shorten is our toxic process diet, sugar, environmental toxins, not exercising, stress, and the shorter your telomeres are shorter your life. So the beautiful thing is we know from the work of Elizabeth Blackburn and others is showing the Nobel Prize for this that we can actually increase the length of our telomeres even as we get older by changing our lifestyle by avoiding toxins by doing various kinds of things like meditation, even certain supplements can actually extend the length of your telomeres. So there's a lot of good things you can do about your telomeres. The next hallmark is damaged proteins. Proteins regulate everything in our body. There's thousands and thousands and thousands of proteins in the whole purpose of your DNA is just to code for proteins. And these proteins regulate everything, your organs, your tissues, your cells are all made up of proteins, all the messenger molecules in your body, like hormones, peptides, immune molecules, and neurotransmitters, they're made up of proteins. And they're basically the information superhighway facilitating trillions of chemical reactions every second in your body. Now, what happens over time is sometimes these proteins can get damaged. And then the messages are kind of static Y or they don't really properly do the things they're supposed to do. David Sinclair talks about aging as an information problem. The information theory of aging. And so we end up with these damaged proteins, they don't really work properly. And they become misshapen and proteins are basically strings of amino acids that are 20 or more, and then they're folded in a certain three dimensional structure, and then they bind to receptors and they do all kinds of things. So when they're funky and misshapen or damaged, they don't work properly. So how do we fix these damaged proteins? Well, there's a lot of ways. My favorite way is sauna. It actually is great because it stimulates something called heat shock proteins, which repair and re fold some of these damaged proteins. Also autophagy, which is stimulated by inhibiting mTOR through time restricted eating or drugs like rapamycin or other phytochemicals. Basically stimulates the process of self cleaning and repair where it digests these damaged proteins that like a PacMan and gobbles them up and digest them and then it breaks them down and kind of gets the old parts like hanging on an old barn and making a house out of it. You got the old wood, but you're going to make a new house. It's like recycling those things. So basically, we need to prevent this sort of constant flow of food, right? So we need at least a break from eating overnight from 12 to 14 hours. We need to get rid of all the starch and processed sugar in our diet and processed foods. And we need to actually stimulate autophagy. And there's many ways to do this. There are calorie restriction or autophagy generating phytochemicals that we can consume and I talked about those in the book. Also periods of fasting overnight that we talked about, all that can really help. And so there's ways to fix these proteins. The next hallmark is the epigenetic damage. And epigenetics you might have heard about. But basically, you know, think of your genes as a fixed set of instructions, right? It's like a piano keys. You've got 88 piano keys. You can't change them. They just what they are. But think of all the different things you can do in a piano. You can make jazz rock, reggae, ragtime, classical music, right? So the epigenome is like the piano player. It means above epi means above your genome, and it regulates this sort of genes in which genes get turned on or off, the disease genes, or the health genes, the longevity genes for the early death genes. And so you can really regulate your IB genome. In fact, the measurement of biological age, and in the book I talk about, you know, I'm 63, but my biological age is 43 because I've learned how to regulate my epigenome. And this is how they test for this. They test for your epigenetic health through something called DNA methylation. And that's beautiful because we can modify it and be changing our diet exercise stress or supplements.

"So in today's episode, I'm going to share with you a breathing technique that you can do to help you manage relationships and I encourage you to share this breathing technique with loved ones. People who you're in a very close, meaningful relationship with, to help manage stress. And I promised you in yesterday's episode that I would layer the affirmation that we did yesterday, right along with today's breathing technique. And so that is what we'll be doing. But I first want to share with you a little bit about what we've been exploring this week in regard to your health and how relationships have a direct influence on your health and well-being. And as I mentioned to you earlier in this series, I've been following the works and reading a book by doctor Elizabeth Blackburn, and she's a Nobel Peace Prize winner. She shared the Nobel Peace Prize in her research on telomeres, and a little about telomeres is that there has been a lot of research recently. Where researchers have found that the brain definitely sends nerves directly to organs of the immune system and not just to the heart and the lower gut. In that way too, the brain is influencing the body. This is a quote from doctor Elizabeth Blackburn, and so in her research, she discovered that medicine has been successful by treating disease in a specific way once the damage is done. But as she continues to say, doctor Blackburn says, telomere length integrates a lot of factors together and gives you an overall picture of risk. For what is now emerging as a lot of diseases that tend to occur, do so together such as diabetes and heart disease. So what this means for you is that a telomere is like a protective cap at the end of chromosomes. So your chromosomes in your cells and your chromosomes are what carry the genetic information. So you could think of telomeres as buffers. They're like the caps at the tips of shoelaces. If you lose those tips, the in start frame. And so what one of the number one stress triggers for most people is relationships. And so as you focus on relationships this week, maybe there's a relationship that you're having some challenges with, it could be a relationship at work. With a friend, a family member, a child, a sibling, a romantic partner, whatever it is, the relationship can cause so much stress that it can impact your health. So as you do, that breathing technique today, which I encourage you to sit down in your meditation space and do or do it while you're out walking, it's fine. It's all good. Just do it. See how this works for you. As you do it, focus on, noticing how your thoughts are influencing the way you feel in your body. This has a direct influence on your health. And so this is the breathing technique. So we did the affirmation, listen, listen, listen. Yesterday. If you're listening to us, in fact, for the first time, no worries if this is the first episode you've listened to, you can listen to these techniques and do the meditations in any order you want. They don't follow any sequence. But I do like to layer in the techniques together. So I'm layering in the affirmation from yesterday's episode with the breathing technique for today. So, this is the breathing technique. I'll just guide you through it once and then you go and do it. Make sure you do this technique. You could do this technique as you manage your health and how you feel when you're challenged in your relationships. So, you're going to be listening to yourself. And you're going to listen to yourself on many different levels. You're going to first start off listening to how you feel emotionally at this moment when you consider

"Metabolic stress on it. And now today, I mean, obviously we're eating all the time, even though we're eating a lot of nutrient less food, we're getting plenty of food in our system, but we're also putting so much stress on the gut, and the guts really wasn't designed to handle that amount of stress. And we have that gut mucosa that really protects that lining and how critical is that gut mucosa and what kind of things should we do to help support that got mucosa and the strength and the resilience of the gut lining. That's a great question. It's a great point and you bring up the number one modality in the research for healthy living and longevity. The number one, right? There's a lot out there. Now, we have a lot of tools that are toolbox. Is caloric restriction. And as you say, it's a wonder that it hasn't swifter the nation. You know, everybody wants this longevity, but do you really want to implement that number one modality that's going to get you there? No. That has been my experience clinically. But I think you said it. Allow that digestive system to act as it was sort of meant to act back in the day and rest. And I think this is where, in a lot of these things, these days have these buzzwords, right? So intermittent fasting, we hear and we've got a lot of hype around it. But to be honest with you, it's not really intermittent fasting. And I think we get, I think we get, it's back to just eating as we should, right? With that rest period in their so that digestive processes that take a lot of work, right? And a lot of enzymes and a lot of building blocks and such to then rest and allow it to repair. That is so super important. Folks that eat up right until they go to bed and then they go to sleep or try to go to sleep, I would say. And that food is just sitting there in the digestive system is like, what am I supposed to do now? They just shut up most of their brain power and how can I work without that, it just gets into a big conundrum. So there are other things that we can do to repair gut mucosal. If it needs to be sort of recovered, in a sense, de glycerides licorice is wonderful for that. It's something that you chew on. So it takes the acid part out of the glycerin, the acid, and it's D glycerides, but when you chew on it and swallow it, it can increase that mucin, which is so important to protect. That got learning because of our stomach acid, right? You and I said, one cell thick. If we are stomach acid is important, that helps break down those big proteins. But it's so toxic caustic, I should say, one drop on your hand, burn a hole right through it. So we need to protect it, and that's where that mucin, I think, is so important. Yeah, so critical. We got the mucin there, the mucus lining real thick and our stomach to protect the stomach from that sharp acid, and then kind of the immune component where our secretory IgA lives in that small intestinal region to help kill off pathogens and things like that. And we've got to have that good roller coaster of it's like a domino. It's like good stomach acid production helps reduce pathogens, helps optimize nutrient absorption, and it also helps stimulate bile production. If we don't produce enough stomach acid, we don't get the right stimulus to produce enough bile because bile is an alkaline substance to bring to basically take away the acid in the small intestine and it's also antimicrobial helps emulsify fats and then when we get that at that acidic bolus coming out of the stomach it also helps trigger the production of sodium bicarbonate as well as pancreatic enzymes. So we kind of get this nice influx, but most people are just eating so quickly and on the go and you know like you talked about just eating so often throughout the day that they're depleting or they're not they're inhibiting their body's ability to produce enough stomach acid. Yeah, you're right. And you kicked off a point in my head that was a sort of a hallmark of my recommendations when people would leave my office and almost every single person that I talked to one of the things that I would recommend, right? So I have a lot of education. I have a lot of experience, but chewing. Chewing was the thing. Because I could be a little bit of, well, I don't always walk my talk in this area, but this is where I always make sure they tell my patients because that process is so important because the more that you can get that digestive process started right there, right? With all of those secretions coming out, then the better your microbiome, your digestive process will be down downstream. And so chewing is extremely important. And I just think it's something that we forgotten to do. Yeah, I mean, I'm just like you, sometimes I just, I'm eating on the go or whatever it is or I'm trying to multitask, and I'm forgetting how important that is, just being present with my meal, being in a relaxed state, chewing, so I can optimize my digestive enzyme release in my mouth. And then stomach acid release, bioproduction, digestive enzyme production. When you do that, you really get the right cascade for optimal digestion. And again, very few people are being intentional about that and they're compromising their overall digestive health and the health of their microbiome and turning up inflammation in their body. Yeah, for sure. I just wanted to interrupt this podcast to tell you about the tasty probiotic enzyme and polyphenol infused energy drink that I use on a regular basis that doesn't have caffeine and really powers up my brain and my body. It's called metabolic reds. It's an anti aging nutraceutical that you drink. See, most energy drinks leave us dealing with the midday crash. You know, they kind of wear off and then we, you know, our energy levels go way down and then there's other ones that are more natural that just had like a lot like a grass like taste that make them really hard to stomach. And that's where metabolic reds comes in. It was made to pack in 9 different natural blends that are scientifically proven to boost energy and focus, but it also tastes awesome. And the best part you won't feel like you're forcing down another health drink, you're not gonna get the midday crash, metabolic reds are designed to be easy to drink. It's a 100% natural. It gives you the natural energy boost you've been missing. These nutrients that are in it help the most important cells of your body adapt, grow, and stay healthier, longer. Guys, you've got to try it for yourself to truly see how good this stuff tastes. Just go to get reds dot com forward slash jockers. That's get reds or GET. Dot com slash jockers. That will unlock your offer to get a free metabolic greens with your purchase of the metabolic red, so you get two for one. So check that out, guys. Again, get red dot com forward slash jockers. You guys are going to love the metabolic reds. So we talked a little bit about the microbiome there. And we'll come back to that and talk about some more solutions for supporting the microbiome. But I also want to talk about telomeres. And we know the telomere discovery and you had mentioned telomeres are kind of like the tips. On our chromosomes and I want you to go back into that and describe that a little bit more. But we know that discovering telomeres is really a game changer in the field of anti aging, and that's why the biologist Elizabeth Blackburn, who really pioneered this idea of the telomere theory of aging. She was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in medicine in 2009. So let's talk a little bit about more about telomeres and why it's so important that

"Well of Bengal snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and then victory from the jaws. Of overtime, baby. Today. Probably. I think the most exciting game of the week quite honestly. So Bengals representing or off to a start Saturday college football action Sunday NFL action Sunday was like Christmas morning. Getting ready for week one and joining. We had Dave lap. Um we had lap calling the game and now we've got wrapped James Rippin with the breakdown. James rippin from Sports illustrated all Bengals dot com. Good morning. How are you doing, buddy? I'm wearing any. How are you? I'm doing fine. Um So obviously it came down to 2/4 down calls, right. So you go for it on fourth down, Give the ball to the Vikings on the 30 yard line, sets up the TV to a feeling who exposed the mismatch with Eli Bad Apple and absolutely stupid call by Taylor like he was huffing glue. Then all of a sudden, later in the game, we're in overtime. Jesse Bates strips the ball from Dalvin Cook, one of better running backs in the NFL, two minutes fourth and inches, hits, his AAMA and the call of the game. Sets up the field goal. Great call. He looked like a genius Coach Taylor dead a tale of two tailors. So that's basically the summary of the game right now. It came down to 2 4000 calls. I did and honestly going forward on fourth them at first time, you're right it if you're in control of the game position at the same time, if you're going to do it, and Taylor talked about this after the game, maybe don't run it right into where the Vikings are hoping you run it on fourth and one and I don't mix it Swift. But it was just, you know, maybe that's when you run a little pie action or get the ball to someone that no, you're not expecting. Because if you're going for it there, you've got to be creative. Explain, James, Did you explain why he did. Sided to go for it on his own 30 with Game in hand. He's trying to end the game. That was that was just thought. Alright, Work two scores. If we go down and score here, it's over. It's fourth and one. We have all the momentum and I understand trying to be aggressive, but that's like mad and aggressive. We're going to do that. Then it's a little bit. Then you've got to have a play called that's foolproof and just running it up gut. You know, it's it wasn't up the gut. I think it was in the Yeah, That's a tough ask even though you are getting pushed all day. Tapping said the second one I was upset, so they had to place called in the huddle. Taylor called him like you said, and they want to sneak so they could have snuck it. But The thing is, is the way the Vikings will look. They showed it was like, no, we're not doing that. Because they're going to have guys here and here in both age gaps around Trey Hopkins, and so that's going to happen. Well, let's call this play. And oddly enough, Scott, they ran this play. Zero didn't like how they ran it, I guess in practice last week, so they ran it again and he threw to use drama. And apparently, they've run this play for three years or so since Taylor got here never got the ball until this past week at practice. Burrows idea. And then it turns out being the game winner and runs for 32 yards and sets up in McPherson for the game winning. Yeah, um, in the thing, too, and I don't want to play. You know the what ifs here. But if that fourth down pass in overtime, let's say that doesn't work. In Minnesota takes that football over with a good field position at the 50. What is the fan base like today? I would think it would be mutiny because all of the goodwill that and to her credit to Elizabeth Blackburn is built up with the you know the throne and the atmosphere in the jungle, and it's a whole different field. The marketing element with a ring of honor. All these great changes and Goodwill to the fans. I think it evaporates. After that, Maybe I would have gone for it there, though, because you're not playing the top like if he would have punted. I would have been more Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, You have to try to win. And you're right. I mean, look if it doesn't go right that Minnesota with their weapons their 15 yards away from getting into field goal range. And Greg Joseph had made a 53 yard to force overtime. So it's not like he doesn't have the legs like get it. I understand that. But good news is at least for one week, though, Scott, we don't have to have those conversations in McPherson fiercely through Yeah. So, um, there's a lot going on here, too, And it's a great one for that was certainly I think the most exciting game in the weekend to be honest with you. It was a fun game to watch the Vikings 10 penalties 90 yards in the first half. I think that there's a lot of credit there. Um, and it doesn't take away from the Bengals at all. But you're giving up an entire football field in the first half. For sure. And the crowd had something to do with that in Berlin, acknowledged it afterwards. You have all those false starts early on, and man, what a help that was. Just to get the momentum on the bangle side and part of that, too, with how dominant they were in the trenches on that defensive line. I mean, those guys were moving people. And putting opposing offensive lineman in the Kirk Cousins lap. That's the worst when you're getting your guys in that in the middle, not only outside the tackle spot The Garden Center. You're pushing those guys back right for the laps of the quarterback. It just makes it hard. Even if you go back and you look at that first drive second drive that the Vikings had Kirk cousins, Mrs Masters a wide open Justin Jefferson in terms of behind him, and that would have been a first down and that suddenly you're moving the bottle and things change in momentum in the defensive tyrant. Incredible pass was off target because they pressured him. And that was probably the thing that I don't know about surprised me the most, but the most encouraging take away I have from yesterday. Obviously, the resilience and everything like that. Right. This defensive line pressured cousins. They helped keep down and cooking check who is considered one of the best running backs in the game, And that was a tall task..

"That you have to keep in mind is that when you buy from bengal dot com we do not charge any service fees, so fans on average are going to save about 30%. Over the secondary market when they buy directly to the Bangles, and it's worth pointing out and you guys have gone out of your way to make sure that fans know this. But for those who are attending on Sunday or are thinking about it, you're not getting a paper ticket. Everything is scanned. And so you've got to be ready for that, right? Right. We've gone all mobile with our ticketing. We started that last year as part of the pandemic as a safety measure. Well, it went so well, so we've expanded that and we're going to be staying that way for the foreseeable future. Um, I love what you said earlier, by the way about the injury report, Joburg playing. I think that the thing that we can't stress enough is that the player Joe Burrow himself has mentioned it how excited he is to be able to finally play and NFL game in front of a full crowd. This is going to be his first chance to do that. We would really love everybody out there to help support us and push this thing to a sell out Well, and look, I think the team is better But being at those games last year, and it was looking was it was great to go to an NFL game. You abided by the rules. You know what? I was just happy to have a ticket at the same time. A. The NFL atmosphere isn't about 12,000 people in the stands, B. Playing home games is about making life difficult for the opposing offense. You could not do that last year. Hector were times I can hear the cadences at the line of scrimmage. That can't be the case for the defense on Sunday. Absolutely agree there. And I think that what people don't get is that this town is jacked up over this team and I we feel it. The fact that we are going to be so close to a seller might even get all the way there. It's just proof that I mean, the crowd is going to be rocking on Sunday. I think you're going to want to be there. But all the other things that Elizabeth Blackburn and team have done to help improve the game day experience. This will be so many people first chance to finally experience that the that the ruler of the jungle I'm so excited for Sunday. Yeah, the rule of the jungle and look at the new uniform will be a lot of folks who go inside Paul Brown Stadium or people who are listening to us right now Thinking about going down to PBS on Sunday and the atmosphere and what they see and what they feel is going to be different than it has been even as recently as a couple of years ago. And all I ask is that people give us a chance to prove it because I think that what you're going to see is that People are going to roll your eyes a little bit. Say, Hey, you know what? I've heard that before, but pressed us come out. It's going to be rocking on Sunday Bengals dot com purchase tickets with no fees, and by the way, you still have season ticket packages on sale, right? We do.

"Sometimes you do become big alive. However, I guess optimistically, you've got to look at the team four hours North. You got to look at the Cleveland Browns to say Okay, remember, they were the definition of dismal. There was a definition of for the definition of bad in horrific and what happened over the course of time Right now, here going into this particular football season, they are slated to win the F C North. Now, obviously, that was because of some great draft. That was because of some great free agent pickups. But let's just face it when I'm from Cleveland, and I'll tell you, Jimmy, half of them the ownership there. Him and his wife. They were getting the hands handed to them. They were getting beat the hell up. Because of their lack of success early on in his ownership, So yeah, there's always going to be hope. And I think when you look at the challenge On 15 that will give you hope. Now, let's take hope, and we have to put something else in this bowl. He gotta put history in that boat. We put history and we mix it up we go. Oh, my God. Now you become bingo, Live And now all the things that Mike said so excellently. Now they all start pertaining to a point where? Yeah, you got a point there and especially if they lose their first game. It will. It will just get that ugly. And then Danny and Andy Dalton's waiting in Chicago for Game two. The second paragraph, the story says. I'm ticked off already sell the team Every year. I get more outraged as we lose while Mike Brown sits on his fat cachet and won't pay for a winner. Worse now the Browns are winning. I hate Browns fans and Steeler fans. I'm angry. We didn't get more blocking for Joe Burrow or help on defense. I get emotional during games. When we lose a ticket personal we stink. I will boost so Out. Mike Brown's family can hear me. That's the second paragraph of the preview of the game on Sunday. Is this town to negative? Is Tony Bender to negative? What do you say? No, no, because he's dealing with real fact his facts. Facts credit, give credits for him because he didn't He's stating the obvious. I mean, he's stating that, however, again. If you want to look at because I am I I have been totally fair and criticizing the Bengals when they need to be criticized. That should be criticized. But I am saying this particular year on paper is the first year in a long time that I see. Hope. Now I agree with him when you look at the coaching staff and Jack Taylor, you know again if you're going to measure someone on their job performance, yes, Mike scalpers bleeding from my fingernails Digging in. I'm scratching my head going. Okay. What? What? What is this all about, but the new direction of the Bengals ownership. Elizabeth Brown, Elizabeth Blackburn. Katie Blackburn's daughter has done some very progressive thing. So I do see a glimmer of hope. As in, they're doing something outside of the box that Mike Brown would have never done. I totally disagree with Mike, and when he wants to run within his prominent and again We've been to two Super Bowls. Cleveland's been or not, so I think it does. It does help. If you pay guys and you've seen you put the best talent on and the best best coaches fast. But what what mesmerizes and I'm so perplexed that you've got this base of pallet, Willy. Yeah, and you and they're being coached by Zach Taylor. I'm sorry. Exactly. He would be the first to say okay, I haven't gotten the job done and this is the year For me. It's the year of expectations if they don't win, and I'm not talking when, in 56 games, we can't allow that to happen. Well, we can't be going around here, going who? This was a better year. We won one game more than we want last year. Like way we're happy now and for those long suffering Browns fans. It looks good on paper. But the Browns never won a damn thing since the administration of William Henry Harrison that their stink and if somehow would be worse for Bengal them as if the Browns arise and do something special this year and maybe get to the Super Bowl. And then played Tom Tom Brady in the Super Bowl and win the Super Bowl. Then it's over, because we always can say Well, Ben goes aren't very good, but at least we're not in Cleveland. For God's sakes. At least you're not a Browns fan. But if something good happens to the Browns We have no argument. At that point, it's over. It's done. The late great town wife will be turning over in his grave if remember his favorite quote. You're not in Cleveland, Cleveland when Cleveland win playoff games They may be yelling, You're driving sentence in at it would be the greatest. Can you imagine Cleveland Browns with Joe Burrow at the helm. Thank God. They have a quarterback that can't function because I think the Browns quarterback is no good. At least Joe Burrow has got the potential of being special, but it's got to be protected. The receiver corps looks good Offensive line is extremely suspicious. No help on the defense. I don't know what's going to happen, but Tim McGee, thanks for sharing your thoughts about bangle them. It's fair to say that Mike Bass of the inquiry is not real positive. Would you agree? I don't think he'll be. I don't think the people that read that article will be going on buying tickets anytime soon. I like what the lovely Elizabeth has done. Uh, with tangled in Malaysia has brought us into the 20th century, which is a good thing. Now we have to make another leap later on, But at least to at least the lovely Elizabeth is getting some things done. Like the Ring of Honor. And one day, Tim McGee, you will be there. Ah, well, we'll see. We'll see. All right, Tim McGee. Good luck in the big match. The pickle ball match is being set up. Rocky and I against you and the segment. Me and the segment. We're ready, baby, but you are red. You have to. You have to agree to hit the ball, Not more than 50% of the time. I'll hit the ball 60% of the time It goes to fig 100% of the time when it comes to me 50% of the time when he goes the fake. Lastly, with the Bengals win on Sunday, I hold you to account Zimmer's in town. He lives in Independence, Kentucky. The bikes are in town. By the way, the vice are a favorite in Cincinnati to win, who wins the game on Sunday and give me the final score. Think the Bengals went 21 that's like 10, but I think it's also awful embarrassing that They are the underdogs. That's it's amazing to me. Well, disappointed. Very disappointed. We'll see what happens. Tim McGee, the great number 85 Thank you again for coming on the Bill Cunningham shin. I'll be listening on Sunday with you and the chick stir. All right, brother. Thank you, Tim McGee, the great number 85, so we'll see what occurs. Let's continue with more news at the bottom. "One you know so what this does is this paves the way for apple maybe But it sounds like eli. Apple is going to be the guy that's gonna get the nod right away in relief of wayne's to to get the start corner it's been an up and down career for ally apple to say the least that's maybe being a little generous so ally apple will get the start opposite of louisiana. The good news that was one of the best players in all of angles. Training camp New face in he. He struggled last year but he was injured. So i think they'll be okay and that other side they may try and things up With with a combination of apple darius phillips and others Playing the outside we will see but trains will now be out there and it is a shame because he's not going up against his former team. Here's the deal. Though wayne signed a three year forty two million dollar contract last off season and then of course he had the chest injury last year If the bengals decide to cut next wayne's next offseason they'll be on the hook for five million dead cap space while saving eleven million that according to over the cap So i i still don't think that the bengals look. There's still a whole season to see how this plays out here with trae wayne's maybe he comes back after a couple of games ends up being a solid starter. Form in. this is just another bump in the road here in this contract. Obviously if these things keep occurring and he doesn't see the field bengals will have kind of not a lot of choice here to the than to probably cut him but that's down the road. We'll see what happens right now. This seems to be a short term injury in a short term issue but trains will not be suiting up against the vikings against his old team which is a bit of a shame. I'm sure he would like to have Exact a little revenge against his old team there as well. I see good good question for my my buddy here The orange arrow. If you're zach. Would you have put him on. Ira soom Derek there is referring to trae. Wayne's i don't know but obviously they feel pretty good Beyond week one that his injury will subside and he'll be able to get out there sooner. Because as you as you just saw khalid green he has a shoulder issue and he can come back. After week three so obviously. The bengals would seem that they were going. They feel that trait. Wayne's is probably going to be able to come back before that time and and we'll be able to start games but you know hamstrings are tricky. We'll see we'll see what happens there but good question there Arm trae wayne's. Let's keep it rolling here with some more recent news with the cincinnati bengals. And we'll start with the kind of less less important or less serious news. Update i suppose this is from our buddy jeff ops and in case you did not know in case you will be at the game in person. The bengals are going to be an all white on sunday. All white uniform so the new unions. They will be rocking the very first one that they will be. Sporting will be the all whites We saw the white uniforms in. Preseason looked pretty clean there so they're gonna go all white with the orange helmet obviously should be a pretty clean. Look in hey. If it's going to be pretty warm Nice to have the white uniforms less those black uniforms kinda soak up the heat a little bit so You know That's that's maybe a good move there. If it's supposed to be pretty warm we'll see but jeff hobson of bengals dot com tweeting out that the bengals are going to go in all white for the opener. We knew the jersey combos that they were going to new jersey's that they were gonna wear but just confirming their the uniform choice also kind of a cool thing That was announced. I didn't have the tweet pulled up. But mike my colleague. You can go on his twitter account. John sharon i think he may have been there off to confirm that with him but at paul brown stadium. Today there was kind of a little announcement elizabeth blackburn and members of the media. It looked like were on hand and Bob johnson the original bangel was designated as the team's very first draft pick at number one overall the offensive. Lineman is going to be the ruler of the jungle on sunday for week. One so he will be in that thrown and getting the festivity started as the bengals take the field etc so That's another little tidbit of news for sunday's game speaking of sunday's game continuing on that vein lucrative ryan there to a awhile here is for mike. Patrizia the bengals depth chart and hopefully you can. You can see this year. Not too many surprises based on how we saw the final roster shakeup some of these last couple of pieces of news that i just brought up about. Trenton irwin about my us about mike daniels etc but you do see despite some of the the catch issues is the starting one of the starting wide receivers with auden tate. A behind him. You've got joan williams quainton. Spain trae hopkins xavier sue phelan riley reef as your starting offense line so not necessarily a who's who of you know perennial pro bowlers. But i think we can all look at that and.

"And our next guest A guy that i've had the privilege of talking with many many times But i've always wanted this data. Come as somebody who has long lamented. The fact that the bengals haven't done a ring of honor they have and i've always wanted to talk with ken anderson on the day of his election. That is today. Ken is with us now. Congratulations how are you. I'm doing great how you doing. I'm doing i'm doing well. I gotta think not nearly as well as you knew you were making this right. The bengals are going to have a ring of honor. You kind of went. Yeah i'll i'll be in that inaugural class right. You knew this was coming. You know you never know. I put a long time ago and there are seventeen other great candidates on the ballot. Some of them more current than i am. And you don't know where people's memories go so needless to say. I am so honored and pleased to be the inaugural class. Do do a sort of a dive into that for me. Roll through exactly what. It feels like to get that phone call and the types of emotion that jogs that comes to mind. Well you know. I think number one. Obviously i personally honored. But i'm i'm so happy because you know as you know in the national media the the bengals don't get a lot of respect sometimes and when you go back to the sixties seventies eighties. We were as good as any team in the national football league. And certainly i think you know people remember more about the eighty one super bowl team. But you know when i go back to to the seventies and you know the guys played in the sixties and seventies. We have some great players. Obviously you know kenny riley. Being one of them. But you know. I look back. You know myers. And isaac curtis and bob johnson and by trumping gosh essex johnson as good as any running back and we've ever had you know On the team until he hurt his knee in the playoff game against miami in seventy three. You know my roommate for years. Dave laughing tommy casanovas and i think the list goes on and on and you know to think finally we can go back to that era and they recognize me but i hope that. Remember a lot of these guys. Yeah i would. I would agree with that when when when memories come to mind of of your your finest moments your favorite team teammates and just certain milepost of your career. What memories have have come to mind just over the last couple of days since you found out that you're going to get this honour while you know. I think it's you know surprise. You ask that question. Because i just got back into a family reunion up in batavia illinois and my uncle vary whose like my older brother. Nancy moved from chicago to milwaukee and a retirement apartment aunt. Nancy never threw away anything and at a family reunion. They gave me a large box of stuff. And i spent a week going through that. And those not only newspaper articles from the seventies and on you know game programs tickets that kind of stuff. So you know the take that week and got kind of go back and relive those memories and then of course then get the call from mike brown and elizabeth blackburn. That was special. You have played with or played for all three of the other ring of honor inductees. So the paul brown is. It's remarkable to me. This was said by your former teammate. Chris collins worth in the nfl network special. They did on on paul. I don't know five or six years ago that there's the george halas trophy. There's a vince lombardi trophy. There's a lamar hunt trophy. There's nothing in the national football league named after paul brown which is astounding to me. When when you you played and played quarterback for for such a legendary figure. This is such an obvious question. But what was that like while you know you talk about being all someone when we come from the table and all i in august and college and all of a sudden fear sitting at riverfront stadium across paul at his desk and knowing what he meant to the national football league. You know the the great things. He did a cleveland. And you know i. If everybody's honest the way that the national football league at least operates today you know with the packer schedules with You know having an off season. Paul around started all of that. I mean so i mean he is kind of the founder of modern day football and and just to be around him especially i guess my only wish was i wish it would have been around him when he was a little bit earlier when when he may have been more active in the game planning but he's certainly commanded your respect and you know they say the meeting starts at nine. The meeting started when paul walked in the office and he walked into five. Nine in your in your seat. Then you got fined for being late. Ten riley had sixty five interceptions as as an nfl defensive back which is tied for fifth. All-time if i added on top of that total the number of times he picked you off in practice. How many would you have one hundred and sixty five. Kenny was a great player. And i think you know. Kenny was all about teams. And you know. I think if you talked to collins worth if you talk to isaac curtis and you'd be in training camp and christmas told the story before that you know he's a rookie going up against kenny. And then he would run a pass out and kennywood grab on the way back to the huddle and told him what he did. And what kennesaw. They make chris a better player. He would do that to me early in my career he would pick up one in and practice and then come on kenny. Your eyes gave it away or this. Was heavier shoulders the way it was turned. So you know he was all about team and all about winning and he made all of us better players in one thousand nine hundred. Eighty anthony munoz shows up. What do you remember about that. Well you know i. I was over the hill back then. my career was down They drafted my replacement. Seventy nine with the number one tech and all of a sudden you know anthony comes in anchors the left side of the line and we got max and we got flare bush shimmy got lap them and we got bush knocked. We got mike wilson. I became a good player again. Relation to those guys. It's interesting. I've always wanted to ask you this. So if you look anthony. Caught a couple of touchdown passes later in his career his rookie season the had one catch for minus six yards. Do you remember what happened there. I do not. I know he cut a lot more touched up all right. Well i we might have to go dive into the archival game footage and find out why one catch negative six yards something so something must have gone horribly wrong. I've said this to you publicly. I've i've said this to you privately. I long to have you on the air. And i hope to god. This happens where. I have you on the air and we talk about cam. And you're in. You're in the hall of fame. it's it's deserved. It's painfully overdue. And i said this to ken riley sung. We were talking about his hall of fame. Bona fides and i said to him. You know it's gonna make you feel good to hear and sort of grasp this very very grassroots movement. That bengals fans have been involved in to make that happen to to get your dad's strongly considered for the hall of fame. And hopefully one day inducted from from your standpoint it does have to make you feel good that there are so many people who feel so strongly that not only should you have been celebrated by the bengals long ago. Not only should you have been an are one of the first inductees into the bengals ring of honor but but you should have a commensurate celebration in canton. It does have to make you feel good that so many people feel so strongly about it and so many people. Frankly can that even didn't.

"Their fans and you know the whole pageantry of their brand if you will get them more involved in the experience where it's like. It's not just a football game right. it's an event. And i think that is also wording that has been used by a by blackburn in the team maybe while the director of content it wants to be more of a live event in experience. Something where you want to go there. Not just because the bengals football so because this is the best show in town i guess and i think that has been the message for this entire offseason. The entire game experience is going to be enhanced. The rule the jungle campaign is really just all wrapped in a ribbon. They're going to have like a special like ruler. Fan who's gonna sit in the throne very comfy front speaking from experience but i i guess that's going to be there their their special tradition now like Leading the who'd age hair for kickoff but everything about this it just embodies that message like our biggest strength. Regardless of the quality of the team is our fans they they still support a still come back year after year despite what our performances let's reward that s mixture of the key going back and let's make sure that this is experience seven or nine times a year now in the regular season that they want to keep going back to the cincinnati bengals fan base is not the largest contingents contingency in the fan base is in the nfl. But by god john. And i think you and i embody this a based on the amount of work we put into this show the way. The website cincy jungle and everything. But i think look. Passion in loyalty are two of the biggest traits for since the cincinnati bengals fan base and there are a number of people who have been longtime season ticket holders through thick and thin a lot of thin more so than thick. I guess or vice versa depending on how you look but the point is that this kind of resonated to me in a way that hey we are going to really. We've always valued your loyalty as a team. We've always valued you coming back to the stadium and all of that. But this kind of a deal where it's were recognizing it and we are want to let you know that we are valuing that loyalty and that passion that you always show us being bengals management as as a team. So here's in case. You did not read this. Here's kind of the premise of all of this right. This is on bangles dot com to in this is from elizabeth blackburn. She wrote this piece up on. Bengals dot com. Today we set the tone for the twenty twenty one season as we launch our new campaign rule the jungle rule the jungle signifies the high standards energy we expect to see on the field in the stands and in all areas of our organization rule. The jungle is a mentality. That displays are confidence and strength rule. The jungle is a feeling of exuberance. Each fan will feel on game day. Like a queen or king sitting on a throne as we celebrate together in a stadium that is back to full capacity to rule is powerful. Great empires are built by the bold effective and revered leaders throughout history envisioned schemes to reach new heights build impressive infrastructure by mobilizing the masses under a common goal and won battles to assert their dominance build win rule. This is the path forward. So that's basically the message there. There is a picture of the throne with seven of the bengals core players. There that of course there are more that will be deemed as core players going forward but those are seven of the core guys as we sit here today that you got joe mixing on the sheeran thrown their the that he has once graced might thing with this. I mentioned it a little bit on the water cooler chat. But i found this to be interesting john in the past. It would seem that these mantras that came from the team. These team slogans. All of that. It was marvin lewis putting these slogans on t shirts and whatnot. It was zack. Taylor coming up with the seize. The day new day all that kind of stuff. This is coming from the front office. Maybe the other ones did as well but that was not the impression that the team put forward that was not the impression to coach the players. Put forward this is coming from even higher up from the co from the coaching staff. And that to me was was something that made me pause in tennessee. That's a little different. Yeah it makes all the the past efforts in this type of Cast because you mentioned like the marvin lewis slogans and as the years went on the got more more of a parody of themselves. And then like you zack taylor. In his first year as a head coach believe like he was in lace and local commercials and that was brand new. Because we never saw marvin lewis kinda put himself out there in the team advertisement in a comedic fashion so that was a breath of fresh air. And now it's this which blows all those past efforts out of the water. Because you're right it's coming from management's coming from someone with with blackburn or brown in their name coming from that lineage and you know that there's actual working done to make a difference with this which makes it different but of course it's not going to be deemed different if there isn't a difference palpable difference that you feel in the stadium and i would love to have fans on as the season goes on. We talk to them. We interview them about is the experience in the stadium that different because i think that is buying large word. The bulk of the difference is going to be. It's just you know we can reference the article last week about Ben villains list of top thirty destinations traveled to cincinnati. Being the last like. It's almost like this was a way to counter that or way to boost up those rankings. Because if if that experience in itself matches that of a vikings game of seahawks game of like on a low but another embarrassing idol. No i've never been to really any other. Seems aside from hobart kimberly give the other perspective but like if that is where the majority of the of the differences being made in. I think it's going to be the fans that really see the most and again it's really like you said pain back the fan. Loyalty pain back. Passion always sticking by their side despite thirty years of lack of playoff success. So now you're starting to see it now from the just the coach himself. Who's usually the face of the franchise the now you're seeing it from someone in the executive branch of the organization if you will in that's where most of the change actually happens right away little segue here. Elizabeth blackburn was also in attendance for. Ken anderson's i think you wrote the article up on this on cincy jungle to john covering kenny anderson's new coffee shop that he has opened in conjunction with his foundation. The can anderson alliance That coffee shop is is providing.

"You need to meet this woman. Dr elizabeth blackburn. She's the researcher. she's she's such about us. She's in warlike thinks she's in her late seventies or early eighties. You would never imagine. Imagine that this woman is that age and to be able to discover like. Oh there's something that's called the telomere and This is going to do all of this for health and wellbeing. It's just humbling to be around her. It's it's great to see women in science who've done it for a long time but it's so rare especially when you get to find women who are over sixty who had along in science and then to win a nobel prize to have that that sort of experience. I think that's so bad ass because it is a little bit tougher women and you lose that earlier in as a an entrepreneur as a ceo. In all that. I've done a good amount of entrepreneur. Coaching advice lot of companies. What's your experience. Been like learning how to be a you know a very successful. Ceo and an entrepreneur and to allow yourself to be supportive. What you do that with your practice for. I love that you ask that question so i think first and foremost as women we suffer more. Our brains are more complex in the way that we process information so we need to just understand that our biology obviously is very different than a man's so that's number one so once i respected and understood that i gave myself opportunities for smart self care and this is something that i don't think i've told anyone in everyone's going to hear this but i always give myself permission and an a perfect example of that is when i was first starting out in business so i was in my early twenties. The first hire that i made i got myself anani and in my house and i was living alone and she could. She could do my hair. She could do my nails. She could cook my food. She could keep my house clean and she could nurture and nourish me. Because i'm you know as a woman were nurtures and that gave me such a killer competitive advantage and it gave her one too because she thrived in my environment which helped me threat my ago into the eastern medicine spending time in caves in tibet kind of experiences in my life. My sensation is that the act of creating a company is inactive nurturing. But it's the same thing that a mother does for a child and you put like your own nurturing energy into the company culture into the mission vision and and it's actually an active creativity but it's inactive nurturing and caring and if you're wired to do that but you've got no one caring for you while you're putting all of your carrying something else. It's the same thing happens to moms when they have a baby and found enough support for that first. Light year or two. They're like complete zombies because they're not getting enough sleep in their nurturing another person and unless they have the care of community or a family and other things i got. It's incredibly stressful and exhausting and draining in order to have that creativity and that ability to to transform people's health and their lives. Like you. And i wake up every single morning. And that's what we're doing and that's what we're focused on and it takes so much energy to do that. So self care or self soothing. I mean like simple things that i do the first thing i do in the morning when i wake up before i get out of bed is i meditate. That's when my cortisol levels at the highest. And if i can work with them first thing in the morning my whole day is different. The next thing i do is i drink. I don't drink my my bulletproof yet. I drink an ice cold glass of water. And so okay so you you you meditate meditate. You drink wasser cold water. You put salt lemon or anything lemon. Sometimes i'll put some of the himalayan salt shortage so those are the things i also do our in what's next well i. It depends on which day it is. So like was a low day for me. And i i don't eat until twelve twelve thirty and when i do eat the next thing i do so i'll have all have like around ten. Am we'll have some green tea. Of course. I want to have it organic coffee like i. I love it and then around lunchtime. I'm going to be starting with my fat i. So that's when. I really get into the fat i. I love bone broth. There's so many great foods that i love to eat. No i don't know how you answer this question But i'm really but what's your take on. Having a small dose of fat in the morning to make the rest of the fat effort listened to have more energy. Do you think we're getting on top of or not. The data shows that you are. So i think especially for women right so i'm always looking through the female lens so women most guys are like all about fasting. Intermittent fasting getting the benefits and a lot of women. Ninety percent of the time they're skepticism. They're worried at my body can't do it and you know we're dealing with different forms so for a woman who wants to get into fasting which i of course love and recommend doing it. For twenty five years there are steps that make it easier and so the first step is of course getting sugar out of our diets number one then becoming fat adapted so you can understand that you know fat. I thought most like you. What are you eight. Seventy eighty percent of your diet brings on the day like that. Yeah But for someone. Who's just getting into fasting. Intermittent fasting if you can Get fat adapted where your body is using it as your fuel and then you start to you know you stop eating at eight. Pm at night and you go till ten in the morning and when you first start eating or you're having a coffee you do a bulletproof coffee..

"Compared to what would it has been the past three years. Under my brown's ownership like there is a sense that you know. There is an awareness of who the fans are in what they want. I think we have seen that difference. Obviously that's not going to be tremendously recognized by the fan. Base has a whole until the progress on the field steps in. But it's never been relieved. watchmen were to that is the organizations as his job course but that is. That's the coach's that's the players themselves the front office. They can only do so much in terms of how to dictate the onfield results. Go after they build the roster. There have always been things they can do to enhance fan experience enhance fan loyal ship in loyalty. Even when the results are bad results had not been good in the last few years but that has not stopped the progress in terms of fan engagement from increase in. So i think over the past couple years we have seen enough progress region. Click the button here. I agree just one quick little side note. You mentioned elizabeth blackburn. I know she's become quite quite the rockstar and rightfully so within that organization. I think you know you mentioned a lot of the mega fans that are out there and that experience that you were able to be a part of the uniforms i think quite honestly and i could be way off as just a weird little theory of my own but i kinda like it almost seems that elizabeth went to ownership or others within the front office and said look our fan base. I don't know if you guys realize how rabid this fan bases. I don't know if you realize loyal this fan base is in some of these people that have big followings in Do all kinds of different things covering the team. All i think she kind of opened. Some is gonna. Wow that's these are. These people are are not about our football team. You know and so i think that kind of help create a conversation to say we need to get some of these people more involved in what we're doing and not be so. Close the gate on everybody you know. And i think they've done a good job of recognizing that that's kind of who they were and that's not really who they wanna be anymore. Brian in isla says the few the proud. I mean basically like i don't know what how. How much dangles. Fans there are in america compared to every other fan base. But i do know that who the is like the sixth largest uk following for nfl. Team and i don't know any other. Nfl team or any other fm base that rallies. You know hundreds of fans to canton. Ohio to protest in support their legends forbidding the hall of fame. Say what you want about. Bengal gyms efforts. But you don't really see that from a lot of the fan bases because now all of the fan base is have to go through that trouble to gain attention for their respective players. So like this is a unique fan base for unique franchise. I think like you said elizabeth has open is in for front office to recognize that. It's fun that poll. That is that Paul dana junior j morrison of the athletic put out there. I think it was on twitter and you can go on their website to go to go take. That bowl varies very thought. Inducing questions there so check that out and they always do great work and go get yourself a paid subscription to the athletic to get the great work that they provide their support for this episode comes from locker room the app. That's changing the way we talk. Sports locker room is a sports fans. Dream come true. It's a live audio platform that lets you connect with other fans.

"You know the it's the whole head versus heart. You know my heart says yes. The my head is is making me feel a little bit. No on this I again. I just i go back to this year is it. It's gonna tell us everything quite. It's not going to tell us a lot. It's gonna tell us everything about zack. Taylor about this roster about a lot of the players on the roster about the assistant coaches this year is going to tell a lot I think i think he can lead the bengals layoffs. I don't know again. The through the play is another discussion there as well So i mean. I think when i went through this poll by myself i think i said yes I don't know that. I was fully convinced of that. Answer though we'll put yes for the hell of it Let's see here. When will the bengals break their playoff drought in the next. If they do in the next three years i it's it's kind of easy i think the put this in the middle for twenty twenty two. I think That would be second Last last season if he does not make the twenty twenty one playoffs He would probably have to in twenty twenty two to keep his job it again. Like the divisions tough. it's deep. i know there's there can be three wildcard teams now but not every year. You're going to have two of them from the afc north like we saw last year I it's it is tough to see them do with this year. And i know there's so much potential in. It's possible but i think the answer. Here's probably twenty twenty two if it does happen that's that's the answer for me to I just you know. I think they could be sneaky in very competitive this year and maybe even sneak into the playoffs if everything goes right if they stay very healthy and like i said the maturity the cohesion comes into place and things are things are moving in a really good direction but i still think there are too many kinks to to work out. Still in this season you do have a quarterback. I think he's gonna come back and play. Great ball this year but he is coming back from a severe injury. There's just a lot of different elements at play here. So i still think next year is is kind of the one that We would we would look at for this one for me. I think we're gonna do a couple more here but this is this is an interesting one. Will joe borough win an nfl mvp. While with bengals i guess. Is this assuming that there's a possibility that he leaves the bengals winston mvp. I don't know. I don't know if he wins the mvp like they're they're very successful that year. They presumably go to the playoffs. Do something in the playoffs. It's hard to see a quarterback becoming an mvp when he wins maybe eight or less games so this is assuming enjo- boroughs career singles. There is a very very successful season. Where he's one of the best quarterbacks of the best quarterback in the nfl. And i think that's it. That's entirely possible down the road. I think it's possible. I go back to two thousand five and i guess i should he who shall not be named Number nine that year at a very realistic argument for being an nfl. Mvp you can even say twenty fifteen. Andy dalton had a little bit of a you know made that race a little interesting based on what he did before his injury. He was playing lights out when the bengals went eight. No and there was very little to no talk or consideration for either of those guys so you know we talk about the ring of honor thing and the lack of recognition in the pro football hall of fame just in general with the team. I just you know i find it. I find this to be an uphill battle. I don't say. I don't want to say it's hard to believe because i think joe borough can be amazing quarterback in the nfl. I just think just from so many stigmas. That seem to be a i. Guess against the bengals a little bit. I find it hard to believe. I think he can will. He i. I don't know i i trouble saying yes to that. If there's one guy who can break through that stigma it as universally popular with every other fan. Base is joe borough It's just a matter of does he have that season. That's the equivalent of twenty nine hundred. Lsu just so that. We're not like put on freezing. Cold takes in ten years if this does happen. let's get. this may be one end on. Do you feel the bengals organization respects slash values. You as a fan. Anthony costanza john. If you would ask me this maybe even as early as last year year before maybe a couple years ago i started to see some differences last year. I guess last couple as well but major ones this year i would have said no And i i would have felt that you know this. Ownership group does at times has shown a little bit of the ivory tower mentality and they keep people at arm's length in favor certain people they don't favor other people but you know As over the last couple of years my opinion is changed greatly and it hasn't just been you know your really need experience along with and many other folks that you are able to partake in a few weeks back with the uniform unveiling guess is that a couple of months ago now god so it's not just that that element you know you. You've established a good relationship with someone within the organization as well and it's given us some some really neat opportunities to interview players on this show and others associated with the team in you know. I think they do give us a you. Know a good level of access as well as a as a fan driven podcast. So you know. I would say over the last couple of years. I've seen a big difference in this in that. Yes they do value. May i do have a little bit of a different perspective. Because i don't live in cincinnati. And i know i don't really have the opportunity i guess it could but i don't really make financial sense for me to do it. Be a season ticket holder. So that element you know. I think that brings a different element is well to folks but i i would say yes but it's been a very recent thing for me it is. It has been a very recent thing and you know. I grew up with the team and for the longest time you know. There's just been that diehard sense you know like all their their my identity either. My favorite team. Yada yada yada than you get older than you realize. They're a team. They have no idea who you are. Personally you can't love something that can't possibly love you back because they don't know who you are but over the past couple of years there has been a sense in a change that you know the bengals kind of realize who they are is organization. They don't have the notoriety of the new england patriots. The dallas cowboys are not worth as much as some of the other More valuable franchises in the sport in all sports they have to leverage whatever assets they have and i think over the past year or two specifically since elizabeth blackburn has gone there they recognize the value their own fans. And i think that they've been trying to elevate those specific voices obviously bengal. Jim comes to mind. The bank lorient and other prominent fans in this fan base in another fans started to recognize that you know like there is a palpable difference. Compared to what would it has been the past three years. Under my brown's ownership like there is a sense that you know. There is an awareness of who the fans.

"With lyndsey patterson from the cincinnati enquirer and bengals. Beat podcast hopefully. She's got maybe a couple more minutes so we can ask a couple more questions We were levin the time here. Appreciate that i guess. I want to back a little bit on the last question from john. They're a little bit. Because this roster has been made over a bit in the in the image of zac taylor and his other coaches And a lot of these guys haven't been here very long. Some of the guys who have been looked at as quote unquote locker room leaders are no longer here. Geo bernard just left this offseason. He was looked at as one. So i guess based on maybe some of your limited in person interactions in locker room. I dunno if access were. But i guess the lack of in person stuff over the past year or so. Who are some of the guys that you're seeing. Maybe step up as new leaders. I think john and i would say mike daniels. This guy has kind of stepped up in that role a little bit and speaking with him. But i mean are there others and or do you see for see. Some new faces kind of stepping up. Maybe as you mentioned. Jesse bates he guy that maybe assumes leadership role. I don't know. I love to kind of hear some of your predictions on that front. Yeah i would actually say jessie bates in just getting the chance to talk to him. I know we don't know what's going to happen with the extension. I feel pretty confident that that'll happen when the bengals normally do extensions in nets during training camp. I i'd say you look at him. And sam hubbard on the defensive side. And he's really taken a leadership role in. It's crazy to think because just your base is not that old. I'm flipping over to the other side on tyler boyd in new tyler boyd. Because one thing that always remember it was just a couple years. Though we're at training camps are doing in person interviews and in tyler what we were talking to one of the wide receivers and i don't even think the wide receiver made the team but tyler put his around. I mean he was interview. What the guy is bringing confidence. And we've talked about that a lot with them and he's he's gonna joked kind of being the older guy in the room when he's and he's not even that old. I mean there's a lot of young guys on this team. And i think that's what's really telling his the houston who's who's really wanting to step up and lead offensively and defensively I we stayed to be determined right now. I mean i gotta. I gotta see these guys warren and obviously get more access to when we're doing in person interviews again but at the moment i would say jesse basin that is not a bad guy to be leading on on this team right now. Offense of lean defensively in. It's always easy to say. The joe burrow Would be the guy but in the wide receiver on my definitely us. A tyler boyd. Right now in terms of not being that old like my co host told me earlier this week. Do not get old because of what happened to him. And i'm just like to look up jesse bases age real quick Hate to say that he's actually younger than me. So nothing. I'm entering that stage now but i lindsay. I don't remember the first game that i ever attended but we do some research around here. We found out that the first game that you've ever attended with your father was on an october afternoon. When a certain corey dillon rushed for nearly three hundred yards and broke the bengals rushing record. Now the ring of honor has been I it's obviously a thing this year is going to. It's going to populate a certain game to be determined. We know that. Paul brown nathan Inducted and we don't have the official is on this but we can assume that the cans can anderson riley probably the front runners to go in there. If there was a third nominee that you could vote in. Would it be corey dillon. For that experience or would it be someone else off of your head or would it be some to another to i in combination aside from the two kids. I'll say this about the ring of honor credit to the team for finally doing it. I i know we've talked about elizabeth blackburn in her role and and just kind of speaking to to my brown about this and how excited fans we're going to be and they're finally doing you can look back and say this should have happened years ago but i always say better late than never. It's exciting for fans. And i want to know when the next one is going to be because i think the next conversation is where it really gets interesting Throw chad johnson. You you mentioned corey dillon. Honestly if if there was a third one that they could vote on. I would say it would be willy anderson The guy is so underrated. He should he should be going into the hall of fame in and that will happen one day and obviously they have to praise their own players. I and the that may help some of these guys get into the hall of fame but can enersen ken riley not. My third would be williamson. No fence to corey dillon. Um his time will become into. I think that's just such a while. Corey such a wild story. I don't know when you guys when you became. What what year did you guys become interested in the bengals I'm i'm the old man here. So i will say i was like five the first while the second time they made the super bowl and eighty eight. So that's like one of the first football game ever. I remember watching. And that's kind of what sparked my interest in the team at my brother. Older brother was fan My name being anthony. There is an anthony munoz on the team. Obviously who ended up being a pretty decent football player so That was that was me. But i'm i'm an old dude so i can't speak for john. I mean i started watching this. Don't time with the bengals came to an end. But i don't remember ever watching like accordingly game live so i think i was more like consciously probably two thousand four like earliest memories of team. That's a good point. Because i was look i grew up in a football loving family joke about it all the time. If remember the titans was relived. I was the curly hair. Dad's water bottles one. My brothers played i. I really had no choice. I thought the cincinnati bengals were the only. Nfl team exists. So when i went to that game didn't know a whole lot. My brothers didn't want to go because the bengals were not very good at all. He's like do you want to go. And i thought yeah. Let's do this and had no clue you know everything was about to happen. I think kind of even going back on corey dillon's time had the chance to talk to him back in two thousand seventeen and you know unfortunately it ended in cincinnati. The way did you know it wasn't all happy. Happiness went when he left cincinnati. But i was just so happy to see him get success with the patriots and i think we'll the hall of fame conversation. It's fun i throw it out there. Sometimes i'm i'm a little scared when i do it when i say that..

"One, I found out that inhibits the viruses ability to infect cells to inhibit the replication of already ineffective cells and three Sean it reduces infected cells resistance to treatment. With antiviral medications, So in other words, No. These anti viral medications that were taking for these viruses are actually boosted by people that are taking Claire sitting, so you know. I just wanted to bring this up because it just shows you that You mentioned the beginning of the show. You mentioned point you know, putting poison in your body and knowing and stuff like that. You're actually right. So When we have high blood pressure when we have other issues, we take medications and medications work very, very well. Andre do do their jobs, but with those medications You have collateral damage? That's the poison part that you were talking about. I assume yeah. And so like, for example, I take if I take Advil for pain out of the works great. I mean everybody out there who has pain. They take Advil relieve whatever your choice and say it is, it works great for the pain. But unfortunately there's a cost and that cost is swelling of the lower extremities, high blood pressure damage to your kidneys, bleeding ulcers and even death. You know those air that's collateral damage from those medications. What was great about these supplements. They give you collateral benefits. So you're taking resveratrol rewind because you're interested in its any inflammatory of facts. It's anti aging effects. But guess what? You're going to get collateral benefits, and you might. I'm not saying you know, this is a definite thing. I mean, obviously, they have studies that they think they're doing. There's actually a study from Canada. Canadians actually went to China. During the during the beginnings of the epidemic. The pandemic, and they're they're doing a study with acquires a pin on I haven't seen the results yet. But again, there are studies that show it helps with the flu. It helps with other viruses. You have to assume that it's got to be some positive effects with grown a virus. But my point is there. Is there a troll rewind. You're not going to get collateral damage. You actually get collateral benefits and This happens a lot with With the products, for example, you know you're taking an omega three we every week. Sean. We talk about Omega threes every single week there. We talked about it with, um with our hearts with our brain health. But you know if, if you recall there was there was a scientist Elizabeth Blackburn, who did studies that looked at kilometers Member Killem years. Sean, are those shoe laces the tips of the shoe laces, and that's the telomeres are kind of like the ends of our didna and at the at the ends of the DNA's. There's there's kilometers and they're like the caps to the Sedation to the shoe lace, and as we age, there's telomeres unwind. And we get damaged to Edna. And that's the theory behind what what Aging is and Elizabeth Blackburn studies showed that taking omega threes Actually protects those kilometers and Ford Omega threes can also have anti aging effects. S so again, just one of the many collateral benefits. Of taking an old man. That's just amazing. Omega that amazing find so thank your wife force because We? We've know we've been talking about it now for the last 1 10 months or so, as we've been battling this pandemic about health probiotic would be beneficial of vitamin D three is a must. Zink is you mentioned? Eyes and helping to build and maintain your immune system. And now we find it a resveratrol rewind has this queer sittin in it that is also helpful on battling and fending off viral infections. And if you are, if you do catch the virus on in some cases it can help stop it from replicating and Actually help antivirals treated so that that's an incredible fine. Thank you, Doctor for that we've heard from Sonny Sonny says. I've used rescue resveratrol rewind for many years, and one of the benefits I found is it helped my arthritis. Especially in my shoulders before taking resveratrol. I couldn't get a dental exam without making them upright the chair during exam a few times because of the shoulder pain Now that's not an issue. The doctor. In addition to what we've already discussed, how can his virtual rewind help pain or inflammation? Again, as I mentioned earlier was very troll, um, is very good, natural, anti inflammatory. And if you look at a lot of these pain Remedies that use you know that she she advertised on TV. One of their ingredients is resveratrol. Now I I looked at some of these and look at the ingredients and a lot of them aren't even the transfers very troll, which is the more You know, active form? Um, so you know, I think that again, you know, this goes to the your point of, you know, what are you taking? Is it you know, knowing what's behind the label? You know, just because it says resveratrol doesn't necessarily mean you're getting the appropriate resveratrol. On. Do you know we use that example with all the different types of fish oils. They're out there by something. It's official on it and might not even contain three essential fatty acids that we talked about. Same thing was with the resveratrol s so I can only really speak upon this product That was very trial. Rewind on. There. It is a very good anti inflammatory. It's also very good for our hearts. There was research that shows The rich spiritual man actually keep our hearts healthy by limiting the effects of cardiac fibrosis, which is a hardening of the heart tissue. There was also a study from the American Heart Association.
