During the school district settlement over the case they formed the blue ribbon task force, it's comprised of teachers, parents who were affected and other community members. In its latest update on the state of D.C.'s 9-1-1 call center auditors found that there has been little progress when it comes to the 31 recommendations made by investigators in October 77% of the recommendations reportedly have no quote observed progress on issues such as inadequate supervision of the call taking. In a recent interview though, the director of the 9-1-1 call center karima Holmes is defending the department saying that she returned to the department month after the recommendations were made. Now this morning an independent D.C. council candidate is accusing at large council member illicit silverman of misusing campaign funds and he's formally asked the board of elections to investigate. Karim Marshall, an independent counsel at large candidate that accuses silverman this morning of breaking campaign finance rules by paying for a poll that he says influence the ward three democratic primary. In an emailed response to WTO, silverman says quote, I am an at large council member running for reelection that commission polls to help me understand D.C. voter preferences. The FTC says the money was collected by a company that called itself among other names, global asset financial services in what the agency describes as a phantom debt collection scheme. The 1996 consumers will get back all of the money they paid an average of $516. The FTC sued the company in early 2019, claiming its representatives falsely said they were attorneys or were affiliated with attorneys and threatened to take legal action against the consumers if they didn't pay certain debts.
