It's me, Greenie, starting 10 A.m., eastern on ESPN Radio and ESPN plus Hey, Welcome in. What is the final edition of the first draft podcast for this season? And before I say loaded, Mel and Todd, I'm gonna give them like five extra seconds to catch up on some sleep and say Thank you, everybody who spend time listening to us. Over the last handful of months, plus the people that I'll make this podcast possible. Mike Boss Matt offer David Presley helped bring this podcast to life through video, Daniel dot our intrepid producer and all those involved with the audio product. It was a banner year for us, and it was a banner year again for Mel Kiper Jr and Todd McShay. Mel, How are you doing after the draft? Have you slept more than like six or seven hours per night? Since then, a little less like that survival? This is kind of our bear Grylls moment. Throw us out there and We could come back and still stand today after a couple days after the draft, and we're still standing. We're so excited. Hot. Scott is mock draft for next year coming out Thursday. I've already got some guys raided that I got a big board coming out in two weeks for next year's dress up this one of being a rearview mirror will move on to next year pretty soon, But today we'll kind of review everything and come up with some Some ideas about who we think did well, some surprising, puzzling moves and wrap up the dress. I'll tell you what, guys. A lot of good players went on draft and they've already signed with respective teams there. You kind of your 8th and 9th round picks, and some of those guys could be in camp and and helping things this year. The national football it hanging in good. I told type of the story yesterday. So my parents both worked for Delta. Right Growing up. I've been flying on planes since I was like 89 months old. I've never been able to sleep on a plane ever. I so we I'm flying from Cleveland to Boston, and I got a tap on the shoulder. It's a flight attendant, and he says it's time to go. You got to grab your bag and go. Ah $100 seats heated and one that was my safe. One veterinarian 150. People had passed by that I slept through the whole thing and I look around and there were people with You know the cleaning through the trash bags cleaning everything up on the roof. This is embarrassing. Isn't it? Lucky that no one had somewhere else to take you out to take it. Oh, yeah. Good One wound up in Germany. That is amazing. Well, it's certainly well earned, and the content has not stopped. The draft is over. I know Mel astonish draft great artist on his biggest question, Mark, You mentioned that ties doing his 2022 mock draft, which comes out on Thursday mail. You're working on your big Board. The draft really is a 365 days a year event, but we don't want to let this draft that just went behind us passed by without taking at least one more bite of the Apple to review some of the picks that were made some of the strategies involved by teams and maybe those that we felt like fair, stronger than others. So we're going to start in reviewing this draft by starting with teams that we thought How to stand out draft knocked out of the park. So, Mel, I'll give you the first pick. It was a team that knock knock this draft out of the park. A two ways the Miami Dolphins are so it had a great trance. I don't do they get players to help on both sides of all. We got 2023 1st round pick from the 40 Niners, but Jalen Waddle Jalen Phillips should be impact performers of pass rusher and Phillips and a receiver. Return Man. Put returner and Waddle Jamaan, Holland Liam like the bird hunter long that second tight end Barnell Coleman at huge book an underrated attack while you mask They did really well in the Chargers, I thought lined it up. They sat. They waited for Slater to be there. He was a 13 Asante Samuel, junior cornerback from Florida State line. The more underrated players goes that 47. Then they get guys like Chris Rough. A good pass rusher in the fourth round. I like Brendan. Hi. Mrs. Potential in Nebraska know about the Senior Bowl practice. I went back. It's those the tape in the brass, Katie. He held up very well. There was the Cornhuskers Roundtree running back in the sixth around. Nice pick there. So I gave the Chargers and the Dolphins of two highest phrase in the Giants. Kind of amended that Came up the B Plus should have given him a day They moved down twice. They got a first round pick next year from Chicago. They got social or in a second to various Tony and the first added some real good players along the way. So I'd say that the Dolphins Chargers giants in that order for May. I was just saying that comes to mind for you. I was just to say quickly. Gettleman. Dave Gettleman. The GM of the Giants has never traded down before And so he kind of went against the grain and move down twice, and I thought it over. Really successful draft. I'll start with the other New York team. The Jets. I thought Joe Douglas did a tremendous job and listen. He deconstructed the roster and get got all this. This draft capital on 20 picks over to your span so that he can maneuver around. He's not going to spend all 20 text, but it's just figuring out the guys that he wants. Obviously sitting in number two They love Zack Wilson, the quarterback from BYU. He knew that he wanted to go up and get Elijah Vera Tucker, the offensive tackle in college, who's gonna kick inside the guard from jets to put.

"And they're going with Jones and and that's the end of the story, but it's just to me, it's a, it's a matter of when not if it's going to happen at some point. It's just how long can cats hold Mac Jones off. All right, so judging from your comments about Justin Fields, the Patriots were not in love with Justin Fields, they might have liked them know, but they were not in love with him. Why have you been a gather, any information as to why they? Wow, everybody's pretty, everybody's pretty tight-lipped on that. I don't think if Justin Fields was on the board at 15. Now you want to talk about maybe owner pressure and things like that. Now if Justin Fields was on the board, they're fifteen that would have been an interesting discussion cuz I don't think they would have picked him. Maybe they would. Are you saying if both guys were on the board at 15, just one? Okay. Okay. So if phones were already gone and field was sitting there at 15. Yeah, I don't know if they would have took fields and maybe that's when crap pipes up, even though I still don't think that would ever happen whatever Bill wants to do. I I just don't, I don't think they would have taken field service, but that's just me. And, of course, now the conversation will be for the next 10 to 15 years. Justin Fields versus Mac Jones. Yep. Although I do think that's a little unfair wage because again what we've seen in the process is yeah, exactly different systems. Different Personnel. Yep. You know, just because one guy thrives at one place doesn't necessarily mean he would thrive in that they're like, I don't know if n'keal Harry went to another team to start his career, he have different. He would have different success. So that conversation is always a little weird. One last one before we move on to the other pics of this trap cuz I want to get to all off. Guys, you got a little information about Elijah Vera Tucker, we had talked about this on Thursday night after the first round wrapped up. We both wondered you and I if the jet pack up to 14 to draft Vera Tucker because they might have thought the Patriots were in on him at fifteen. Would you hear about that? Yeah, that's why I went and I asked because that it wasn't anything. Anybody report was just hooked. The Jets jumped, the Patriots to take Elijah very Tucker and the The Logical. Next step is they must have had until that the Patriots were going to take him. They might have thought that look I asked you can make you can make of it. What you will? I was told it was quickly dismissed and they were like now he's just a guard for us. They were not going to cause they were not going to take him there especially with Matt Jones dillenburg. All right, let's move on a Christian barmore. Obviously made a big-time move early in the second round. Wage Redwood Cincinnati, they move up. They select the Alabama defensive lineman, your thoughts on the trade up and I was reading some stuff that you wrote some of the risk that comes along with barmore. Yeah, I look in general with draft picks in the draft. I don't really care. I don't have an opinion on their pics. They do, they have much more information than I do and they're good at what they do and I'm the type of guy. Okay. Pick you guys I want to watch him on the practice field. We'll talk in three years and so we'll see I'm far more..

"Me. We she wouldn't but she won't let us forget about her. Three days. 11 picks out of the Star Tribune Meet the players drafted by the Vikings will start off with the first round pick Vikings. It wasn't a surprise to you to see the Vikings make that move. Drop back into the first round a little bit accumulate. Cem Cem later round picks and still, according to Spielman, and the Vikings officials still get their guy this Christian Darussalam offensive tackle out of Virginia Tech. Yeah, I I would say it's surprising to me that they moved back nine Step nine spots and still got him for me. And this is all guys on paper people watching you two videos. I don't watch all 22 film for hours and hours on end, but There's a guy available by the name of Elijah Vera Tucker, and he was an offensive lineman out of USC, and he was available right there at 14. That is who the Jets ultimately took when they did the trade with the Vikings, and I loved that player on when they trade back. For me because I'm 36 year old man, child that works on a sports station. So I get too emotional about it. I was pissed off and I'm looking at Indianapolis there. I think it picked 21. I saw a couple of teams in the mix. Okay. Christian Dara saw After very Tucker for me was the right choice and s O by the indeed uses holding your breath and cross your fingers that nobody says the name Dara saw between put picks 14 and 23. I honestly didn't think he was going to be there. Anthony Castonzo, former first round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, long, illustrious, productive career and Indy He retired. And so now you bring Carson Wentz over there, which they did in the off season. And I'm thinking they want to do something with that Left tackle spot. I'm thinking Marisol is gone. They take quickly pay the pass rusher. Out of Michigan. And we've heard from both general manager Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer that once that Domino fell, they officially were able to have a sigh of relief. So to speak, and know that a 20 A 23, where they moved back that they were going to be able to get their guy, so they got him and then the equity they got. They got the two third round picks and that kind of created that waiting game on Friday to see what they were going to do with that is their song. It's two starter. Yeah, He's so absolutely is going to start on day one. That should be the expectation and anything less I think is, um, I don't want to be, you know at hyperbole, but it's football. It's mildly disastrous. There'sa Bring us of Super Bowl. That's the real question. We go win a Super Bowl. Now it's the ultimate team Questioned, Arris saw an offensive tackle. He's gonna be. He's gonna be fantastic. Yes, a little bit of grit, their eyes replacing Riley, refi and kind of look at it like this in a way, where When you take that tackle, Um you kind of get yourself back to where you were in 2020, where you're replacing Riley Reef, And I think the what's next part of that, with this historically, least over the last decade awful interior. Of offensive line. Ever since Steve Hutchinson essentially left we've had issue producing on the inside with strong, beefy, nasty guards, and so what they were able to do on Friday as you look down the list of their picks. That kind of that That I think has to be married to the dairy sauce election say That's where that's where this all seemed to work. I watch some film on the on Wyatt Davis, who was one of their one of their fourth round picks. Third round picks. Third round pick third round pick 86 Watch some film on him after that announcement, and that I I liked what I saw at a wide Davis. I know it was kind of late pick. I know there's some size issues there. With him that people are kind of concerned about his frame. And then you might be a little bit. Yeah, yeah, anything but but he's still gonna be in that 3 20 range He's I mean, he's bigger than as Rick Cleveland is who we went to work with every week last year. And it will be, uh, either left or right guard. I don't know how that'll shape out. Yeah, the thing for me with white Davis. This is where things got weird. And and why? I like to say that Rick Spielman ultimately found the right answers and found his way to the guys that that he wanted and guys that least the ones I'm familiar with. I really liked You got it was fortunate. I don't. I don't want to use the term lucky per se, but in some ways if they had traded up into the second round and took Wyatt Davis at 56 instead of 86 you read the scouting reports. And this isn't me. This isn't even Rick, who's always going to be pumped up about who he selects. People throughout the leader like Holy BLEEP, This is amazing value at pick 86 that you got for this card and again marrying him with Darius saw and the idea that when you traded back, you're a topic goal was to get back into the second round on Friday. You're unable to do that, but still end up with this quality player at 86. From an offensive line standpoint, I don't think we can ask Rick to do more than he has done over the last 34 years in terms of Trying to turn around and awful position group and it's something that could become a strength. So very positive news with those two guys stepping back a little bit and painting with a broad brush because I don't know how to do anything other than that when we're talking Vikings, um, looking at the issues that the Vikings were faced last year, when you look at the overall group of players that they were able to get Do you think that those issues air being addressed? Are you seeing picks that perhaps are looking at places that maybe you You weren't expecting well, so I think that I think that they checked all the boxes in terms of addressing the positions all ultimately until these guys get on the field. That's where the true grading starts is. Did this workout Dara saw us. He has to be a day one starter. Otherwise, that's a terrible pick. Why Davis has to be a day one starter. Otherwise, it's a terrible pick. So, looking at really two things with this team into the draft offensive line hideous needs to improve defensive line. We have Daniel Hunter you get Dalvin Tomlinson via free agency, Michael Pierce was a 2020 Opt out just is gonna be a difference. Make this bowling ball of a human from the Ravens. He's easy, a major difference maker. So if you look at all the issues, it's very easy to say We didn't have a pass rush, which we didn't Rookie corners were bad at times, which they were but one issue that this defense constantly had a year ago that compounded all that exacerbated. All of it was the past the run defense. And you put two bowling balls in the middle with Tomlinson and Pierce. The last thing you got to do is improve on. I think it's the lowest number of sacks might be the worst defense simmers had in his career. It was 21 or 23. Sacks is a team that's that they had 50 the year before. So just picture just cutting the statistical production in half. The rotation at defensive end right now, whether it's Stephen Weatherly, and then you're gonna have DJ want him who kind of flash a little bit of this at different times last year, so he's in his second year. Then you take Patrick Jones late third round. Hey, had 17 sacks last two years of pit and then and then Jin areas. Robinson, who's kind of like this raw, just he's cut out a stone long arms. I mean, he could reach out and touch it from seven ft. Away. He's Amazing athletic specimen, but he wasn't productive. He's not technically sound, and so they taught themselves. Mr Andre Patterson is a guy that could develop a guy like to Neil Hunter Guy like, ever seen Griffin 1/4 round around a USC now 11 years ago. Now it's just time to do some work with with Patrick Jones and Engineering is Robinson so addressing those positions On addressing the A topic needs for the team on paper. It looks like they did that real quick..

"Good draft. Now we kind of it's hard. To not like a team's draft when they have multiple bites at the Apple. In the first couple of rounds. And the reason why they do. Is because they've been a bad football team. So the Jets of Elijah more Zach Taylor. And Zach Wilson wearing keeps saying Zack Taylor Zack's thinking in the Bangles. Jack Wilson. They get Elijah Tucker out of USC to get some protection First, Wilson and now they get him a weapon. That is called investing. In your young quarterback. I like to picks Elijah, Moral, Miss wide receiver. I like him better. What? The better wide receiver, in my opinion went to the Jets. 20 picks after the Giants pick their guy. So I like what the Jets did there. Zach will send Elijah Vera Tucker and Elijah Moore. The three picks for the Jets are to argue with that. A couple of your thoughts here. We want to try and time things up as best we can so we can React to the Broncos selection together. Oh, let's see, Alex says. I hope they go with, um Jeremiah a wuss Ooh, from Notre Dame, the inside linebacker. Rondell more out of Purdue will be a steal for someone. He adds, is that Broncos you're open that they go Jeremiah loose. Ooh! I think that I'll be good. I think that would be a good pick. Oh, the Broncos have just moved up. The Broncos have just moved up. They traded with the Falcons, George Payton said. Last night, there was a player that they wanted that they were not able to trade up for could there have been A player at a similar position available right now that the Broncos went up just went up to go get Don't want to go to break because it says the pick is in and I'm falling for ESPN is trapped here. Who could the Broncos, possibly beginning? Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah or they going tackle. Right. That has to be it so Heaven. Jenkins or Jeremiah Wuss. Ooh! Carmela See which one it is. Drafting Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah, I think would Peas, the section of Broncos country that wanted Michael Parsons. Is not as good as Michael Parsons. But I think, yes. Similar skill sets. Maybe a little bit better and coverage. The Michael Parsons is So I think if you're Bronco fan and you wanted Michael Parsons last night If they go, Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah? I think they'll make you feel better. There's nothing that the Broncos could do short of landing Aaron Rodgers that makes up for passing on Justin Fields. If you wanted Michael Parsons, which I thought would have been a better selection and number nine last night. Then Patrick's or Tan You can make up for that by grabbing. Jay. OK, Do we call him? J. Okay? I don't know. I'm getting used to saying Jeremiah Woo Suk or mo and watching not be him. It seems like you have him and then you got a bunch of tackles. Who's picking Who's the guy picking for the Broncos? They're getting legend. Can't tell who it is quite yet. As picking for the Denver Broncos here. As they tried out legends of Oh, Billy Thompson. There he is. Billy Thompson. Making the pick for the Denver Broncos, and it is Come on now, Billy, give us the pick. The Denver Broncos move up with the Atlanta Falcons to select Broncos fans. Air happy Joe Vontae Williams. The running back out of North Carolina, Philip Lindsay's replacement. So now as we put the pieces of the puzzle together George Payton says last night. That there was a player they wanted to trade up for, but he didn't go far enough. He didn't fall far enough for them to get him. Could that possibly be Nausea, Harris Or Travis at Tien. Travis said Tien makes a little bit more sense. Complimenting Melvin Gordon, the nausea Harris does. So if the Denver Broncos decided That they wanted Travis at Tien and we're willing to trade back into the first round, but he was taken in the twenties. So And here's Here's what George Payton said. Last night. About whether they entertain the idea of potentially moving back into the first round. Yeah, that's a good question that there was a player that we really way were trying to get that was falling. He just didn't fall far enough. So we were in discussions with teams. We needed him to fall. You know, in the mid twenties for it to make sense. And before we can I came out here. We just sat with the scouts, and we really like our board for our second pick. I think there's eight we're picking a thin around. I believe in their eight players were really like, so we were gonna get a good player tomorrow. And they do get a good player. In Japan today. Williams. There's been a lot of heat on these North Carolina running backs. How? Maybe if you get one of them. Later. It's better than drafting nausea Harris or Travis AT T End in the first round. Again. You have Jeremiah Woo Suk or Amoah? Who fits in need, just like Michael Parsons did last night. And setting aside the quarterback stuff because I've said what I needed to say on that. For now, anyway. Vontae Williams seems like A promising player..

"But Wilson told the NFL network he's hoping to snap that streak. You know what? I'm given everything I have. You know, I worked as hard as I could for this moment, and there's not another team I want to play for besides Jet, so I'm gonna give it everything I have. And we're gonna be a special team, baby. We're going for the Super Bowl. The Jets. Also traded up to the number 14 pick from the Minnesota Vikings to select USC offensive lineman Elijah Vera Tucker. The Giants took Florida wide receiver Could Darius Tony with the 20th overall pick? And the draft continues with a 2nd and 3rd rounds tonight. And Brian, as you know, April is poetry Month. We have been collecting poems from listeners on the theme of emergence all month, and we have had so many great ones. I wish we had the time to get them all on the air, But I thought right now as we're closing out the month You and I could read a few Are you up for that? I have come prepared. We plan this will let people in on that little behind the scenes tidbit. I am so psyched, David. Okay, Well, the first one I'm reading this is ah, haiku. Called spring gardening amnesia. This was sent in by listener, Kiki Short. Of Port Chester. Fresh shoots poking up. What the heck did I plant there? Must wait to find out. And that's it, And that's it because the haiku goes by so fast, well, the one that I picked is just a little bit longer, but it's also about something that we might say. Looming is the wrong word because this is not in the area of flora, but it's called in Queary of cicadas and for people who don't know cicadas. Are these insects that only come out every 17 years? In the spring, and this is the year and I haven't heard any yet, but we are likely to hear a relatively big noise that cicadas make in the coming weeks in our area. So MJ crop of port of Port Jefferson Jefferson on Long Island wrote in Queary. Of cicadas, and it goes to sleep. Perhaps at ease. You are there. Just below waiting in place for years. Not that we ever know. And in sudden bloom, as if from dormant seeds. Your company attends us to what end for your needs. Not floral are your forms of sprouting life in night presenting in clamor, a turning crop of flight cicadas. Why, just now? The point of your choosing, is it perhaps some teas? For your amusing Huh? You're not wonderful. And you know in the topic that the station chose for listener contributions and national poetry month emergence so many people. Shows emergence from the pandemic right in one way or another. And so I loved that MJ crop protection chose three emergency service cicadas after 17. It's perfect when you only get to emerge once every 17 years. You deserve a poem and let's at least let's be honest. Okay, I have to read this. This last one here. This is called Go Play by Melissa Yellow. Don't give me your poems of nature and morning and birds don't sing the words of windswept loves like prairies on fire. I know only the language of school lunch boxes and diapers changed and fears heard. The only poetry I know of birds is one Ms Frizzle told me about how they are dinosaurs. Ancient. Yes, but also A sign of a shore spring. Which means that these kids can finally play outside after dinner flowers. Be damned. Self explanatory, and we can all relate. Great. I just want to say a big thank you to every single one of you who sent in a poem. I know we didn't get a lot of them on the air, but we we read each and every one. It was so much fun to have these this month. And you can see a sampling of them at gothamist dot com. Backslash poetry 62 degrees now mostly sunny skies today a high of 66. This is W N. Y. C. Right and later on W N. Y C. You have about 15 minutes before asked the mayor, and for this little period of time, we're gonna open up the phones for people who have quit your jobs during the pandemic. What did you tell your parents 646435 70 to 86 46435 70 to 80 for anybody who quit your job during the pandemic. While other people were losing theirs in voluntarily, um another angle. "Been selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. As the draft is ongoing in Cleveland so far, Trevor Laurence off the board to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Zach Wilson to the Jets. You did see Trey Lance. That was the first surprise of the night. Go to the 40. Niners. Kyle pits to the Falcons. Jamaar Chase to the Bangles. Jalen Waddle goes to Miami Panay soul to Detroit, JC Horn, Patrick's or Tan back to back corners going respectively to the Panthers and the Broncos Devante Smith. Wanna trade up goes to Philadelphia, The Bears traded up to get Justin Fields. That is probably the move of the night In the biggest talking point from this draft, Michael Parsons, then goes to the Cowboys at 12. Justin Herbert has a new pal. That's for Shawn Slater, the offensive lineman from Northwestern. The Jets already had Zach Wilson. They go get him another offensive lineman to compliment. Mukai Beckton. That's Elijah Vera Tucker out of USC. The Patriots get their quarterback of the future in that Jones even Collins out of Tulsa. Goes out to the desert with the Cardinals. Alex Leatherwood to Las Vegas, Jalen Philip, staying in Miami with the Dolphins. John Davis. Going to Washington's football team could areas Tony on the trade back to the New York Giants quit he paid to the Colts and then Caleb Farley. And at number 22 to Tennessee Jr other than Trey, Lance and Justin Fields of Mack Jones, the quarterbacks being the big talking points. What is something else that is really stood out to you tonight. Well, I'm happy that the Eagles went out and selected Devante Smith. We had no idea where he was going to end up where he was going to go. And as I said, when he was selected, I think this is awesome for Jalen hurts. He granted it was only four games. If you multiply that times, four he was on his way. To more than 1000 yards on the ground, But we know in the NFL, you still have to throw the football and having Devante Smith out there is an excellent target. Regardless of how much he weighs, because if you can't jam him at the line of scrimmage and he gets off, you can forget about it and you also pick up you get Devante Smith and you pick up another first round pick in the process from the original trade back with the Miami Dolphins, and some could argue that Devante Smith is going to be a better football player. Then jail a model that's always gonna be a fun debate for years to come between those two former teammates at Alabama for May. I look at what smart teams do in this league and that is protecting a young quarterback. I look at the Lions. I don't think Jarod Golf is the answer, but the how the new quarterback in the next year or two, maybe three at most. You got today, So they're tremendous value was Sean Slater is going to help out Justin Herbert immensely. And then the Jets, who had in another first round pick, They traded up and they get Elijah Vera Tucker there. It's not sexy, but there is nothing wrong with going out there and protecting your young investment at the quarterback. It zah beautiful thing. I tweeted this out about the New York Jets. You know it. ZANU time New management. New general manager New coach. And it looks like for once they're actually building a solid foundation for a winning football team. No one knows what any of these players are going to turn out to be. But if you think about the potential of Zach Wilson, if you think about adding an offensive lineman to help protect them, you think about having Mukai Beckton. And Vera Tucker. This is a This is a good situation. If your jets man, you can't be too upset, and then the Jets the details of that trade one more time They traded pick number 23 numbers. 66 86 for number 14 a number 1 43 overall, and it speaks to Joe Douglas and awesome. Jeff bands were annoyed with all the resource is that they got for Jamal Adams. But they have so many resource is Through the last, you know, you know, coming up this year and then in the next two years, you have a lot of picks. So when you identify a player like Elijah Vera Tucker, and you think you have to move up to go get him. You could do that because of the situation even though you don't wanna be in that situation, because it's from bad football play, but to try to fix this thing up. They have so many pics in the next few years, and they felt as if you say good bye to some of those and you go get a new offensive line. Let's hear the Vikings were taken in at 23. With the 23rd pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The Minnesota Vikings select Christian there saw Paco. Virginia Tech..

"A player that you wanted to go get. So let's say like an Elijah Vera Tucker falls into the mid teens, and you're a 23. If you really loved him. What would you be willing to give up to go get a guy like that? Or is this draft deep enough on the offensive line that you still feel like you got a good one? If you set a 23 Yeah, you know, Ordinarily I would want to go up very Tucker's a really interesting player, Bob. But With the death of that position and knowing that I want to get a couple other things as I can in the stress this would private here. I wouldn't want to do that. If I was the Jets knowing that, Hey, there's maybe three offensive line and they're in the next six spots. That's you know, the castle is you have to make on the clock or when it's within striking distance, and my gut would be the state put this year. What do you think the giant stuff? These fascinating, I think, 10 11 12 really interesting, And here's why it's Dallas. It's the Giants and it's Philly to me have very similar needs, and I think they need a pressure plate in the front seven. I think that you use another quarter even though they added a jury. Jackson so We'll see. Somebody like quitting pay from Michigan is the social Ari from Georgia. Those air two players and make a lot of sense to me. Do you miss this? I mean, do you wish you were gonna be in a war room tonight or you? You know, it's a lot lot to be said for no one tomorrow is going to slam any of your pits were like every pick that you make. "To let you know. Okay, I'll report back in. Get someone to take video of this next shot, Whatever. If, if you're teeing off, I want to see this drive. So have someone shoot it and then send it to us. To our producers, because I'm I want to see one big swing from Nick Mangold on the tee box. Now I know. All right, Nick, take care of my man. Be well. Always appreciate talking would be good. You two. That's Nick Mangold in the Goodyear hotline helping you discover the road ahead. Goodyear more driven. He's wrong, by the way. And of all people to be wrong for him to be wrong is crazy. But Hashtag himbo has provided the insight into why you always take the offensive lineman, not the wide receiver. I mean, I guess in theory, if you have four pro bowlers on your offensive line, maybe that skews the equation. But when you're making a choice between taking the offensive line and taking the wide receiver, there is no choice to be made and humble. I would ask you what is the hit right if we're going to find the hit rate In the first round by saying, You take a player and that player gets a second contract with that team. So you that team wants to keep that player around. What is the hit rate generally for the offensive line about 60% for the offensive line. So six out of 10 times, you draft an offensive lineman? The team wants to keep that play around for a second contract. What is the hit rate for a wide receiver and round one about 25% 25% 3 out of four wide receivers? They don't want to keep Listen, I'm sitting here. I'm sitting here to tell you the Jets in one draft took D'Brickashaw Ferguson a Nick Mangold in the first round. I remember my buddy John Clayton. We were doing the draft Go look at me and John Clayton and John Clayton actually said this draft for the Jets is as sexy as a bathrobe. I don't know what he meant by that exactly, But it was a hilarious thing for of all people him to say, But the God's honest truth is, it was fantastic. The Jets had a really good offensive line for a decade. Look how many playoff appearances they made. They went to the playoffs under Rex twice for no other reason. Except they had a great offensive line. They grounded. Pounded the hell idiot. They went out. They got Damien Woody and a bunch of other good players. But the bottom line is they drafted the core of that offensive line. Take the lineman. Any school is in this draft for Shawn Slater is in this draft. Elijah Vera Tucker is in this draft. Christian Dara saw is in this draft. There are a whole bunch of other guys whose names they're going to start to hear as we get a little closer to what that you can get in rounds. 21 Round three, depending on what position it is. You're looking for. Take the offensive lineman. If you're a team that needs both, and your team takes the old lineman first be happy. It's almost always the right thing to do. Greenlee whether you brought to you by 303 products, premium protective and cleaners, keep your car looking like new for longer and you. Listen, I just want you to know there's something I just want you to know when that is this. I respect the hell out of Julian Edelman. Don't you? A guy hangs up his cleats yesterday That guy was nails. I hate that. The debate yesterday became is Julian Edelman, a Hall of Famer, and here's why I hate it. Because it's not He's not. And if that becomes the discussion, then you spend your time talking about his career by pointing out all of the things he didn't do. Julian Gentleman is a player who you should point out the things he did do. This was 1/7 round pick quarterback. Who came to the Patriots and became basically like a Swiss army knife. He did everything And he was as valuable to that team. Is just about any player they had. Whose name wasn't Tom Brady during that entire run. An entire run. He's one of seven wide receivers to win Super Bowl M v P He always came up huge in the biggest games. I don't mean to knock him, but the receiver who was that who was ahead of him is ahead of him. On the old time receptions list for the Patriots is Wes Welker. Welker is number one on the Patriots all time listing catches and gentleman is too The biggest difference is in the playoffs. Welker is the one you remember for the bad moments. Guy would never drop. The ball dropped big plays in Super Bowls. Hettleman never did. Gentleman was awesome. Edelman is on that list of players who came up huge in the biggest spots. So the rest of his career he was never the best receiver in the NFL. He was never anything like that. So I don't want to talk about whether he's a Hall of Famer or not. I want to talk about a guy who was just nails. He was just big in big games and sports are filled with guys like that, not the best in the game, but yet indelible in the history of the sport nonetheless. That's what I want to say today when we talk about Julian Edelman. That's the conversation I wanna have about him. Other way. The only wide receivers in the Hall of Fame whose careers began since 1990 are Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, T. O, Isaac Bruce and Calvin Johnson. I mean, these guys just don't get into the Hall of Famer Fear wide receiver. It's almost impossible. So to say that element is not all of Famer is not to knock his career. But again, that's not what I wanted to talk about today. Wanted respectfully tip my cap in the direction of a guy who is he's one of the That's what's great about sports. The guy who of whom nothing was expected. Who wants of having an unbelievable career? There's a player that I will always love like that named Wayne Chrebet. Any jet fan knows who I'm talking about. That old man had a much greater career than Chrebet. Basically does. He played on much better team, so he had a chance to do things like, Be a Super Bowl M v P, But I love guys like that. Guy like Tom Waddle in Chicago, now hosts afternoons on ESPN. 1000 long time. Good friend of mine didn't have a career anywhere comparable to the Julian Edelman. But it was another one of those guys never belonged in the NFL. You look at him. You don't think that guy looks like an NFL receiver, but he made himself into a good player. I love guys like that. And gentleman may be the best ever. I mean, he may be the best of all time of guys like that. So an enormous salute today to Julian Edelman. Congratulations on an outstanding career list.

"I just think they're going offense defense in last year's draft so for our purposes to come down to kyle pits versus justin fields to me. The thing that's complicated about that right is you're saying that they're not gonna go receiver and kyle pits is not really a great blocker and he's probably going to play more accent slot than anything in the nfl. He's just going to be a big tight end. I don't think you know he's not going to me. I don't imagine him doing a lot of traditional tight. End things you know. So if receivers already crowded Then i don't think that that's a picky think value. Is you probably just take him. And figure it out if you're carolina and you move the pieces around because it would be phenomenal gift to to sam darnold. But i'm not. I don't know it's it's an interesting question. I mean you having fields. They're etched in stone already. Just sort of boxes us in a little bit. that's you know. I'm i'm i'm i'm very bothered by this hour annette. I have officially unmatched connor. How about that. He is asked. And you if you're ready to stand on the table for kyle pits. We can We can do it here and i do. Think pits is a better blocker than people. Give him credit for. I think he's so overwhelmingly. Good athletically that. I think that he's not a good blocker. But i think he's a passable and they will be able to play him in line at some point maybe not very early on but Pits versus fields. Will you will you blow this up. Conner will you. Swipe the draft card that was on its way in and replace it with your own. I you know. I i you know i. I don't know. I don't think pits gets this far a. b. I think that the panthers could a lot of help on the offensive line. I mean you have guys like elijah vera tucker christian dera saw you know a lot of these guys that i think might be somewhat interesting and worth mentioning there. Maybe tevin jenkins is a little bit too far down for the conversation here. But i don't know. I like that idea. I mean to me. You're building something and you're trying to make your offense work and you can bump cambering down because you just signed him right now. You're left tackle. 's camera thing you know. I think that there's probably some tea leaves to be read their. That's probably not one hundred percent part of the plan either in the long term. So i don't know. I i i opened. The i opened up the floor To to to all pex not just kyle pits and and just fields interesting. That pits still on the board in our mock draft was going on but now that i'm looking back at the other picks i mean i feel fine about all of them. I mean i was part of the process. Sal the to the tackles came off the board four or five. Which is kind of the twist for the panthers here true and you guys didn't do trades. No no no law. Okay so dare you clearly not a listener of the show..

"Excited about that, because in a normal year player like Alex other wood, who is a little bit inconsistent on tape, there's still a very young man. He would probably go in the top 15 of a draft. But I think that he's gonna be going in late first round early second round this year, another one that we might make sure be Samuel Cause me from the University of Texas and you 66 £310 and really athletic really strong. He has a little bit more position, no versatility some people because he's a 33 inch arms. Some people see him as a candidate to move inside to that guard position, so I really like him there and then if you're going to be focusing on the interior offensive lineman, there's two guys who have played some offensive tackle at the collegiate level but are likely going to be switched off inside the guard in the NFL, right. John Slater from Northwestern probably gonna be off the board, but Elijah Vera Tucker from the University of Southern California's a similarly gifted player. There's a little bit cast sleep in the weeds a little bit. People aren't paying nearly as much attention to him. He is going to go in the first round. I believe as well. And then if you're gonna go even more inside the center position, and a lot of these centers have the position of versatility to swing outside and play those guard rolls as well. I'm a big fan of Crete, Humphrey from Oklahoma, even bigger fan of landing Dick Kristen from Alabama. Unfortunately, Dickerson is one of those players who struggle with your ability throughout his career. But any one of those five players, all of them make Nick a lot of sense The Buffalo bills because they have the requisite athletic ability, size physicality. And with the exception of Dickerson, who in my opinion is the best most gifted of the five players I just mentioned, all of them also have the durability that is so important for playing at a high level for a long time in the NFL. Yeah, I think we've seen that Elijah, very Tucker name mock to the Buffalo bills. As I'm looking at. I keep next cell spreadsheet of all the mock draft that we track and we've tracked almost 100 at this point, and he was mocked to the Buffalo Bill's pretty early on in January by pro football focus. So he's been a name that has popped up for the Buffalo Bills and offensive line has been in position. Honestly, that has been Mach two. The bills almost as much as corner corner leads the way right now, especially after the chips have kind of fallen with free agency. And we see Matt Milano is still a part of the team and John Feliciano is still part of the team and Darryl Williams corner has now become the favorite. But offensive lineman have have also been a favorite as well. Like second place, I would say, mostly offensive tackles. But I think Bill's fans this year based on where this team is that they would be okay with not a sexy pick. As in an offensive lineman. They would be okay with that at number 30 based on your starting to fill the holes for what you need to do to hopefully make a Super Bowl run here, But as you're formulating your mock drafts and use your doing your research for the NFL draft We had Ah, Brandon being on one of our podcast last week, and he spoke to how it's difficult this year for the G. M's and the scouts to kind of put a full picture together. Because of players opting out because of seasons not being a a full season because of injuries. Everything surrounding Cove it that is kind of gotten in the way of being able to evaluate these guys. Also with no NFL scouting combine, how is that played into the work that you do? Is it harder for you to kind of get a pulse on some of these players? Because of the year that we all went through? We'll get a great question. I think that it easier in one aspect because we are all being forced to just focus on the tape on who could actually play the game about the same time when you were NFL team and you are making his multi million decision No multi million dollar decisions. Excuse me. Then there's so much of that is based on the medical evaluations, the character evaluations that happens at the combine. And as you mentioned the fact there was no NFL combine this year that Magically changes things. And, of course, well as we've all been dealing at the pandemic for well over a year. Now there's gonna be a lot of NFL skin NFL football fans out there, we're going to say, Well, what's the difference between the 2021 NFL draft in last year's 2020 draft because they saw virtually that Brennan being it was among the general managers who was basically forced to, you know, selected players from his living room. And so they may. Football fans may not realize how different it was. But if you go back a year ago, and that felt teams and their scouts were basically allowed to be on campus, all throughout the fall all throughout the winter, we had a complete season. Two years ago in college football, we had the full assortment of the Senior Bowl, the East West Shrine game. The combine the pros most of the pro days it was on Lee about this time late March early April. College teams across the country started really shutting down those pro days. So 90% of the evaluation was already done. That is very opposite very much different this year where, Of course, the NFL scouts were in many cases were not allowed to go onto campus anywhere. There were some, you know, schools and an entire leagues, entire divisions of football that completely ended their season that the Senior Bowl went on. But the East West Shrine game, for example, the longest running all Star game in You know, in college football that was canceled, the combine was canceled. It just puts that much more pressure on that area Scouts to be able to have those relationships with college chains, college coaches, the trainers and what have you to be able to make sure they really know who these players are not just on the field? That's the fun part. That's the part where you get two of the Ah, you wait. Guys based on Who can play. But who were these men? And that is so incredible. That is so incredibly important, especially a team like the Buffalo Bills that this is your Super Bowl window. You have an absolute superstar quarterback and Josh Alan. And so you were trying to really capitalize on that right now, so you don't want to make a mistake by drafting a player. Like maybe one of your A F C East opponents in the Miami Dong in the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans that selected Isaiah will see off to tackle a year ago..

"Like there's there's lots of things in your life you'll encounter outworked decisions that get made and maybe you're not on board but sometimes have no choice. Let's see how it pans out it pans out. Well it's good for you. It's good for the company if you take as soul and it works out joe burrow is going to be the happiest person on the planet and he's gonna to stick around and play for you in a second contract. You can't draft in fear of guy throwing a temper tantrum or a guy holding it against you. Joe burrow's not to do that. Especially if it works if your confident the taking peninsulas the best thing for our franchise or rashaan slater best thing for our franchise and the best thing for joe burrow and it works out joe burrow isn't gonna not gonna bat an eye in the short term. My guess is he's a reasonable enough guy. He's going to go. Yeah i know there's other wide receivers were pretty good at that position. There's other guys we can take this. This franchise has track record when it comes to late around. Wide receivers is really good. And they're looking out for my physical wellbeing by getting the best offensive lineman in this draft. It's a preference. It's not an ultimatum it's a preference it's not a blind preference where you're not even considering the other choices and look joe burrow's biased here. We're all biased. To the people we ever relationships with right. If my producers all quit which every day. I wonder why they if austin quit if tearing quick jeff car quit i would. I would immediately talk about what this person's worked with us before. I've got a relationship with this person that might be. My preference. Might not be the right thing for me. Might not be the right thing for the radio station. It's not lamar chase. Only because joe burrow wants him you consider his opinion. You should be considering march as no matter. What and again. If if that's if that's the guy they get fine of one hundred percent as a fan. I'm going to focus more on. Who they got who they didn't but it's not going to be cut and dry nor should it be as cut and dry if it's just cut and dry if you're an nfl franchise as the quarterback. Saying i want this guy. Then you have poorly qualified people. Working for your franchise. Joe burrow gets. I encountered a person. Is it a guy doing. Do we could be a woman. We're gonna find out okay. I encountered the kind of person that on social media fascinates me fascinates me this individual person itself him or herself doesn't fascinate me as much as the kind of person that we're about to talk to fascinates me. I've always wanted to chat with somebody who goes on social media and doesn't give you a remote clue as to who they are and instead comes up with some absurd twitter handle like diarrhea. But i want to say that handle. I don't wanna make the audience sick. I wanna make people mad. But we're going to talk to this person. And i just i want to get inside the mind of somebody who chooses that as their online persona. So we're scheduled to be joined by this person. Austin elmore made this happen next on. Espn fifteen thirty. Can't answer that question right now because we have some really important things that we have to get so i I spend a more time than i should. Every single day on on twitter in support of of what i do for a living. I'm in the communication. Business and people are communicating on twitter. And not everybody is it is it is a little bit of a An echo chamber sometimes right like i think we do overestimate how many people are on that app. But a lot of people are and they are using it and so i. I ended up spending a lot of time on on twitter and for the most part. It's it's a lot of fun. You can really engage in some great dialogue on on twitter. Yesterday i sent a. I retweeted a video of frank. Pollack working out an offensive lineman prospect by the name of elijah vera. Tucker and i like making fun of the the the frank pollack as the intense offensive of trope. So i tweeted out. He is intense. And when you put something out there on twitter response you're going to get replies and one of the replies that i got made a point that may be very very fair. Which is pointless. He won't be there in the second round. And that's that's a reasonable take. Maybe this guy is gone by the time. The bengals are on the clock around two and so frank pollack working amount. Now these coaches work work guys out for all the teams right like if you're an nfl offensive line coach. You go to a pro day. You work everybody out. It doesn't mean you're going to draft the player but find. That's that's a fair point. It was made by somebody who goes by the twitter handle and the moniker anti diarrhea. But now i have become recently fascinated by folks that you will find on twitter who will go by like monkey fifty to sixteen twenty eight or sometimes you'll even find like bathtub boy fifty seven or it might just simply be like austin twelve sixteen fifty four seventeen numbers. It looks like brandon finnegans lifetime. era that somebody digits. There are whom so. I'm i'm fascinated by people who jump into the twitter poll and this is who they are so my producer. Austin elmore said. Let's see if we can get diarrhea but on the show and he reached out is that a guy is not a big surprise. I believe so. And i want to get inside the mind of somebody who decides to jump into the social media pool and that's the they pick and that's the persona they choose to go forth with so in my career. Here's a sentence. I never thought i'd be saying diarrhea but you're on. Espn fifteen thirty. how are you know. it is an honor and a privilege. But what the hell is going on with brandon. And cutting him. Why are they so silent. Recruit switch creates where a twenty four hours. What is going on and see. So you're you're bringing forth. You're giving me a good question. "He's he's again. Look twitter yesterday. Bengals lose out on the next anthony munoz but this guy actually went to usc anti news so as this player a better comparison. He's elite to arguably the greatest offensive lineman of all time. Is he a better comp or as as soul and same draft have to the next. Anthony munoz bengals have been playing chess the whole time see. We're playing checkers. Day could get this got angles are playing chess by the way nobody listening has ever heard of or watch play. Frankly neither have i but this guy because he went to. Us in someone wrote an article about says he's elite and it could be a first round. Pick i m projecting to the next anthony munoz. Could you imagine the have the power in your computer type up. Something and claim someone's going to be the next city muna's and it just comes to fruition but it but it is powered it's because mel kiper is the one at least at the best of my knowledge is that will face always like she's like by the way orlando pays used him as a comparison as well also in the hall of fame. It's just the way people just take it and run and you know people are gonna take it and run and you still do. It does pace hybrid. Wow he'd be the best offensive lineman to ever walk the earth. Wow then you have to question if he's really even human. That's what we lost out on yesterday. But they got a chance to get this guy here that guy. Yeah yeah. Elijah vera tucker. Now i'm telling you by. By the time we kick the ball off on sunday for the last regular season game. Everybody will be an expert on this guy. Yeah everybody hey look. Don't win this one. Which by the way. I don't think they will don't win this one because if you do that offensive line that i never heard about able to get him so we should win or lose the game but just another tie. That'd be fun. Yeah that could throw a lot off in the afc race a tie. So here's the thing if you win the tiebreaker. Right if you win. Nine games lose five and taiwan you would get the tiebreaker over team that went nine and seven because the nfl officially says that's nine and a half wins due to ties. Count as one win in the scheme of things they must right again. Bengals playing chess so if they tie because they already have one. They have four wins. Yeah they tied twice..

"It's time now for Impact player this week. What with a big fella up front that she left tackle Elijah Vera Tucker. The impact Player of the week brought to you by Mason, Proud Partners of the USC Trojans. Fight on Let's go on. No, No, The impact Player of the week. Time now for impact player this week. I'm going on the offensive line for Elijah. Vera Tucker is off to a great start since moving over to the left tackle position and his final year at USC. Even Elijah first I want to talk about the unit as a whole. How would you assess the over light The overall line play through two games? Flag replying well, so far, definitely some things to improve on like every online. By five million. With the way we knew what the stats these past again, 170 plus rushing yards, which is grass, Azad passing offense, So you know, I think we're playing pretty well so far, obviously, like I said, things that work on, you know onto Eutaw. There were a lot of guys that came back with experience on the offensive line. But some of the pieces have been shuffled around, including yourself. What's the key for? In offensive line T O build That chemistry is as a unit of five. I obviously had no spring ball s, so I was kind of tough, So we kind of came in the fall camp. All I'm kind of new positions. You know, I think it's just It's just really meeting a lot to be honest and just getting the reps and as much as possible, you know, even before fall camp started, some of the guys are meeting together. Going over the place of like that. You know, we're useful, Reese. Diversity and you know, wherever drumming up, says we're going to perform at the highest level s o so far hasn't been a big issue for you. How is the switch to left tackle? Go. I say it's going pretty well so far, obviously always room for improvement. Meeting with Dr No uncertain things, hand placement for work all that we know so far. I think I'm getting used to it. And obviously you have so much experience at the Guard spot. He ever peek over your right and give some advice to the guys hold Daniel position. Oh, yeah. Always you, Nigel worry sometimes asking the questions about it some advice. You know, they they know what they're doing over. There s Oh, yeah. You know, whenever I need to have somebody with the guard position, especially the younger guys, you know, I'll always be there. Be no. So far, everybody as a musician's down a lot of talking in the first two games about short yardage. How do you think you guys need to improve in those situations when you're either on the goal line or 3rd 1/4 and one? Yeah, I think a big part of that is discipline. You know, Right, right hand placement, right head placement. Which for your stepping with you, you're blocking and part of that is also physicality. You know what it's like Short guards when we put our hand of dirt just more people, because that's what online he's due. I've thought we definitely got better at that last week, especially from a tissue, so it's a big improvement. You know, Utah's a physical team, so we definitely got her hand and dirt. You've drawn a lot of praise that I've seen from. You know, the people evaluate offensive lines about returning for your final season and giving yourself a chance to show scouts which you could do it tackle. How do you feel about your decision? I mean, obviously opted out and then decided not back in. Yeah, I feel great about my decision. You know, it's great to be back with the team. I love my team of my brother's love with coaches and all that. But to be honest, I'm just happy to be back to compete. I'm a competitor, so I love to do you know whether I came back? I guard tackle or even center. You know, I was gonna compete. I think so far. It's just been a great experience for me. Well, this is always a fun one to compete in the line of scrimmage. We know Utah is a physical team. What do you look forward to? When when you play against a team that that likes to battle in the trenches with you? Yeah. No. Yeah, We've been talking about all week. So far as online. You know, we know their physical team. We know every time you was, she plays Utah. More like more than likely. It's going to be most physical game We played And you know being able to do that at Utah Bicycle Stadium, No fans, and I really doesn't matter. I think it's again 40 degree weather to s. Oh, yes, you find is gonna be exciting and we no, like I said, we know what type of team they are. So we're definitely coming to practice sleep with a Different chip on our shoulder. You're at least a bake it not gonna soak out, kid. You okay with the cold weather game? Yeah. I mean, I played in, I guess like 50 degree weather, but I know when you go out there is like 40 years 30 with cold with everything's kind of different, But like I said, it would be fun last one. You know how much film study would you like to do on your opponent that you obviously won't be doing this week? Because you just have no idea, nor do any of us what Utah's personnel is. They change so much, and then we don't know who's healthy and who's not. Yeah, well, like you said, I mean, maybe there's somebody cover cases where we really don't even know who will be out there. Um, starting, but I mean, really doesn't matter. Does anybody out there? You know what I had in the dirt, you know, go full speed. Um, you know, we're kind of uses by now. We would have no film on as you or Arizona s O is basically just like another week for us, and you know, we should go out there, right? But all right, well, it's gonna be a big man's game. We know that. That's why I was talking to us. His best big man, Elijah Vera Tucker, this week's impact player. Thanks a beauty. Thank you. What an impressive start to the season for a lie. Shahira Tucker and Sean think everyone very thankful that he opted back in not sure whether it's offensive line would would be without him. But he has been fantastic in the line improved last week, zero sacks, but still some interior pressure issues that we looked at. I mean, really remarkable from a B T to go from from guard to tackle with that much success and how he's done it so quickly to pick up that position. It's like the hardest position, maybe in football to play left tackle and stop the best pass rusher. Another team and just to pick it up so quickly is just Speaks a lot toe. You know, the kind of player is anything is making himself a lot of money. I think by moving garden attacks Will you come back? I think I think you're looking at a first round draft pick right now to like his buddy Austin Jackson, who's starting for the Miami Dolphins. Very good Dolphins team. He should be in the playoffs, so I thought a cool moment Clay held in the showed it earlier this week in anything I did with him. He showed it off and I thought was cool if you go back and watch the game winning touchdown, devise Run into the end zone. Andrew Vorhees makes a great hustle, play Max and basically clears out three dudes at the end and pushed divide into the end zone. We credit of of I He didn't reach out. They didn't make the mistaking me in week one. But the reason he got in is because his buddy came up on basically carried him in and that's a nice moment for an offensive lineman, and I'm sure went over well with the team. Into guys that have been in the program for a very long time. And when you mentioned those players, I think that's a common thing with this entire roster as you see glimpses of elite level play and stretching to get to the second level, and that Dr specifically just marching all the way down and punching it in. It's like, you know, it's there. It's just a matter of tapping into it. Every single time and for me walking into this season, one of the biggest questions was the tackle. Spot, both right and left tackle. You got two former guards. How do they transition? It's not a concern for me and week three. The concern is now into your wise. Those guys need to take a step up and you better believe that's a challenge. That's that's the message this week in the locker room. I've been in that locker room before. When it's Utah Week. You're pointing straight at the defensive tackles and the offensive guard saying it's your time to win to win this ball game. Big man's game Trojans might get a boost in the interior bread Neilan, I think, pushing the to get back into the lineup tonight..

"Run on 1st and 15 set him up for first and goal. Just give it back to Stephen Carr. Slovis will pass has some pressure throws over the middle. It's complete to Erich Roman hope the tight end who makes the catch dives into the end zone, and it's a touchdown. USC Always skipped ahead a little bit, but that's okay. Trust me. Stephen Carr did get into the end zone. They had this rotation early on again. It seems like Max. They're doing things based off the situation down and distance less than this is revised Drive. This is Steven's drive. They got away with it. But in this case this particular sequence Stephen Carr really got some momentum going. Exactly got some momentum really felt like he was in a rhythm and just kind of off tackle left and Guy. We really have me and you haven't talked about a bunch is Elijah Vera Tucker. And on that play, you could you could tell him and he was He was pushing the defenders back. That's the dominance you want out of the offensive line. Credit very Tucker on that on that drive and great to see Steven Car getting get in the rhythm, getting emotion and Ah, valuable drive right there. Before the end of the half. You put seven on the board and That was a drive that if you're in Arizona fan, you look back and say, Man, we should get off the field twice. On third down, you didn't see scores and as a result, it's a big reason why they won the game. Arizona able to get another field goal just before the half, So it was a four point Trojan lead at intermission. Second half, USC starts off with the football. They get three points on the board. Parker Lewis, a 28 yard field goal 20 to 13, but Arizona came right back first play from scrimmage for them on offense. It's grant Coronel to Cunningham for 75 yard touchdown Getting behind the defense tied things up a 20. Then USC had their worst stretch the game in terms of results of drive and in the red Zone with a missed field goal. It's still 2020. They wrap up the third quarter fourth and one from the Arizona Four Marquis Step loses two yards. It's still 2020 and of the fourth quarter we go Arizona despite having a miss earlier in the game. Lucas Haver Sig trusted from fifth Be one yards and hits a really clutch kick to give the Wildcats a 23 to 20 lead USC packs against the wall. Just how they like it. Eric Chrome Unhook You heard the highlight just moments ago heard him talk about it earlier today catches a six yard touchdown. I might have been his only target of the game. It was certainly is only catch. There has been a lot said about the usage. Of tight ends in general, their ability to make plays for themselves. This was AH, spot in the game where us he had to have a touchdown and they got it. Yeah, I got that touchdown. When we just We heard the highlight there before little slant route to Erich Roman oak. Happy for him. I feel like we alluded to it in his interview. He's kind of Ah, run blocking tight, and it feels like that's kind of how he's using this offense. But we know he has a skill we know he has. The talent is that he's the starter in a in a good group for a reason he can. He can catch the ball and great job by keen Slovis, replacing the blitz with the throw as she gets him for a touchdown and Great to see criminal get involved the past game. So you're feeling if you're a Trojans fan, Okay, defense just needs toe. Keep them out of the end zone for three minutes, and everything's gravy wasn't going to be the case. Grand Canal. Another solid drive led Arizona down the field, and with just over 90 seconds left, he put the Wildcats on top. First and goal of the six yard line. Goodell looking left throws left, It's completed the 65 down in the end zone touchdown. Arizona with a minute 35 remaining, Arizona takes the lead 29 to 23..
