Eli tyree past the helmet and buck doesn't even show up in do good job on that. H He treated it like it was like third and ten out just like a week. Four preseason game ally manning thing announced his retirement on Wednesday retiring after sixteen seasons. He's thirty nine years old The giants quarterback who was of course supplanted by Danny dimes. This year but was a rock for for many years is now heads into retirement and it makes sense Meena In fact as a New York I all my friends are giant spans. I was on a tax change just the day before this news broke. And we're talking about that. Allies GonNA retire probably soon. Because when you look at the landscape with all these older quarterbacks on the market and what allies allies been doing the last couple of years. It never made sense that he was going to find a place to start games or perhaps he didn't want to be a backup. So this all made sense but still it. It is the end of an era in New York. I would love nothing more to come in here and defy I. I think what you all know. I'm about to say about Eli Manning I should not be wh- down calls US football cools right. Yeah I would love to say you know what guys you can't tell the story of football without Eli Manning which by the way why why is he the only person who gets that benefit say that about anyone else other than Eli. There's a lot of guys you can't tell the story of football without Aaron Hernandez put them in the hall of fame or if you want to look at pat super we were both. I mean they don't want any of them without dont`a hightower that's a holiday thing. Greg is compared. Eli Manning to know first. Ten Sahal Hyphen reductionist could be just one thing. Because there's just too many guys who would get in by that and then the other is the two super bowls in the story thing. That's just not about how I would define it. It just becomes an argument. About how do you define the hall of fame. I think in my case against him has always been and yeah. I've been making this case for probably eight or nine years. So this is how long he's been average He's just been averaged entire career. Average in completion percentage yards per attempt. He's actually really way. Below average in the law of the interception categories passer rating these average. He's just for the time he entered the league to the time he left the league. He was an average quarterback over or that span. I I still don't like that being the conversation though when he retired. I we've had this argument so many times that I think we're just tired of it like we've said everything that there is to say about. Eli Manning in the Hall of Famer Eli Manning in general that. I actually was annoyed almost yesterday that that's the conversation when a really great player who was a big part of the league in you know no matter whether he was a top five quarterback no he never was maybe in two two thousand eleven. I went through it once. I think I had him at a top five quarterback one year top ten quarterback only one other your. Yeah that's not the hall of fame but like immediately the second he retires. The entire conversation is like the start of the public hall of fame. Talk which is GONNA be. Never any people are so confident about what's going to happen you don't I know what's going to happen becoming. We were like you know he will be in. Conversation will be never ending for five years then going in. I'm sorry I don't listen you. Everybody discounts counting stats and cory will get too caught up or only point at the two rings and the two superbowl. MVP's but I just think there's something that'd be so if he didn't win those super bowls he's he's not he's not going to have him. I get that but there's something to be said and it's always been feel overlooked both on this podcast aspect in general. Because Eli can be a target. I feel like on twitter that the giants drafted him or the chargers. Technically but the giants Brought him into the team in two thousand four. They put him in the lineup in around October that year and then they never had to think about the quarterback position again for the next ten eleven eleven twelve years and I know things didn't end very well but they should have been thinking about it so when you're when you're talking about right ten years okay I'm GonNa say ten years when you think about other teams about your Brown's Mark My jets so many other teams in the league that go through constant search a churn looking for a guy and you end up with a stop. Stopgap and a rookie. You stinks and then a stop Gat and then another rookie. And maybe you hit on something. Like the SEAHAWKS got Russell Wilson. They don't have to think about anything. Russell Wilson's a better player than the but he eli for ten twelve years. They put him in there. He did his job. He was not spectacular but he was steady. You never had to worry about him getting hurt because he never did. He's the most durable the player ever. You'd never had to worry about him saying stupid something stupid to the media. He always handled that very well. You never had to worry about him. Getting into like a behind the scenes drama with with a coach and exploding and him being at odds and using the media to get a point across and all that stuff he was a Walter Payton Man of the year guy he was a total title. Good Dude and in those playoff runs. Then you factor that in for me. He rose up in historic way. And then just beat. Anybody didn't beat the Jacksonville. We'll jaguars didn't beat a Pittsburgh. steelers heat the Patriots and he'd be Bill Bell Check and he'd beat Tom Brady. And if if that's not something that should be given added points knowing who the Patriots are and what they represent in this era of NFL football. I'm sorry I disagreed to just kind of view that uh-huh yeah beat the Patriots. No he beat the greatest team of all time the greatest quarterback in the greatest head coach. I think that means a lot. His team did right playing. Okay Ah in that Super Bowl. I don't think he would say he had the best game. Even the play he's known for is crazy play. That could never be replicated. The two twenty eleven run is what I remember most fondly. Va Man. I think people kind of forget that won the last game of the regular season that they played it was against the cowboys and then the three league games in the NFC playoffs and that Super Bowl he had a collection of some of the most improbable. Low percentage awesome throws goes for five weeks. Stretch that you'll ever see Joe flacco kind of had a somewhat similar run any add little moments like that the year after they won the Super Bowl two thousand eight. He was really good throughout the year but they didn't win the Super Bowl because if eli manning they want it because of their defense I mean they wanna because of Justin Tuck and he learned of it. It's equally reductive to me to say. They won because of the argue he was part of it took to get into the. I mean the kind of connected back to the HIGHTOWER. No one's out here making a case for hightower you kind of do you. You like to throw this one in. I is the single most important outside of Brady and Gronk like the Patriots. Don't have this run of Super Bulls without dont`a hightower. I think I don't think belongs in the hall of fame but you could every all of the cases were making for. Eli You could just as easily make for like twenty other other random playwright quarterback a case you've made for you. I think is the case. Why he's a great memorable? NFL figure. It's just that's different than in. Our weather also talked about about it forever his position he was not a top ten quarterback. I would say for every year but two of his career. There's no one in the hall of fame you can say they've also said forever. You're in West. You've quoted Vince Lombardi on this that the quarterback it just the most important for a position or a position where the spotlight as and that comes with way. More pressure To it then dot high tower where his position is. I just think what you I was able to do in that spot in those two years is something you can't take away from. I and and say oh he was carried to titles. Because I don't I just don't see it that way. I think you've you stated the case very well. I think it falls shy of the hall of fame. I think if you're a jets fan like Dan or you're the browns fan and you've seen nothing but Ship wrecked chaos at the quarterback position. That the the idea that you would draft someone who would play as Eli did before a PR stunt got him benched you know. Couple of years twelve years of sixteen starts and by the way we are stunned. Got Him benched. He got himself well. That's fine but I'm saying but also the disrespect I just giants fan and you draft draft Philip rivers and he. He did what he did. But you get Eli Manning out of it and you know. He's going to win two super bowls in essentially a total ironman at the position. He's a hall of fame to a lot of giants fans I get. I don't think he belongs to the meeting. Early either reading a story just reading up on allies career. I completely forgot the whole two thousand seventeen. Ben mcadoo where's Ben these days but Jacksonville Jaguars Ben.

Ben mcadoo where's Ben these days but Jacksonville Jaguars Ben

"Any question he's not. Why would he be attack Maria? Of course I didn't expect that but the the three point shots were exciting. If you can maintain that as a problem Good stuff joy with the news. Well that's the news. Thanks for stopping by the bird. We have Chris Broussard's going to be joining us. I think Chris is around the corner isn't he. Wouldn't talk bunches. I on the Eli Manning. Manning retired yesterday. I think Eli Manning pick the perfect time so ally manning wanted to play and looked around and there were. No takers and Philip Rivers is in Miami or Florida and he's GonNa look around and find. There's no takers. This is why I've said with Tom. Brady the market's really small. He's obviously better than Philip. And and Eli Manning. He's also a better coach. Better offensive line coach. Better defense behind him so Brady's got much more assistant as he aged but the NFL has been a copycat league. There's nobody trying to copy Tom Brady. That's not what the. NFL is now offering quarterback. I always thought Letterman David. Letterman airman retired at the perfect time is that he looked around he was mid sixties. He looked around. And Jimmy. Fallon was a zillion followers on instagram. Very social media driven bits and Co Bear Steven Cuevas. Doing politics and David looked around like an politics. I don't give a rip about all the social stuff the the league. My industry is moving away from me. So I'm going to end have a great last six weeks. A legendary last two shows does seacrest out put on Oprah Norm MacDonald. Great Show Paul. Thanks ban boom done. I like NEAT endings. It's really hard art in sports in my career broadcasting. You don't have a lot of NEAT endings. You don't have it in football letterman. Did it. Right he was like listen man. I can see what Jimmy Fallon's Allen's doing. I don't have any interest to be on instagram. I can see what Stephen Colbert is doing. I don't have any interest at talk trump it. It's just time like I'll go to a Netflix show. And I think for part of what I admire. He's always been great in the big moment. He ended his career smartly. The last big moment tomorrow in New York. I'm done put a bow on it. I think it's perfect for Eli. Manning Sixty six Chris Broussard next talking. Zion's be sure to catch live editions of the Heard Weekdays David Noon eastern nine am Pacific..

"Chance to win. That's been fun Fox bad so I think this is a good move. I don't know if it's a smart move Matlock floors does the new coach of the Green Bay packers. I've said this about Aaron Rodgers before first ballot hall of fame talent but he's a Baylor Sauna last two days family kind of bailed on on his family. He's bailed on teammates. He bailed on McCarthy last year led the NFL in throwaways. He bails on plays. He's a Baylor he's bailed on T. May to have turned turned on him. He's really talented. But he's a Baylor and there's two stats about Aaron Rodgers which I think are jarring and don't make accents one is. Why is he a five hundred career road quarterback if you go to all the contemporaries Tony Romo Breeze Ban Brady peyton manning all of his contemporaries? They're all significantly better road quarterbacks. The road is about discomfort and fighting through three things. Not Bailing bailing on a play. Not Bailing teammate. You gotTA fight through discomfort on the road. Russell Wilson. Great Rhode quarterback never gets blown out always close in games fights through everything Erin gets blown out a lot multiple times in his career and he's bad on the road owed. I think that's a problem in signals personality. The second one is for as greatest he is. He's got one road road. Come from behind fourth quarter win one in thirteen years. Mark Sanchez has double that. So does nick foles. Eli Manning's got four times names that again fighting through discomfort. Here's our weird stat with Aaron Rodgers. Most fourth quarter comeback since two thousand thousand eight Matt Ryan Thirty drew. Brees twenty-eight Stafford twenty-eight Philip rivers twenty two big Ben Twenty two Aaron Sixteen. Well he doesn't trail much much the steelers do the saints. Do by the way Tom Brady's got more than that. New England never trails in the fourth. Look at those two who staps those two stats are doesn't come from behind a win. That's discomfort that's leadership that's all in fight through it and he's is not good on the road. The road is about battling through discomfort. Brady's Great Rhode quarterback Peyton. Manning was a great road quarterback Russell. Wilson's a great Rhode quarterback errands. Not so those these this is always been about. He's he's a disengaged criticism ghosts you of disagreement family ghosts. That's who he is so yesterday. Mail a floor comes out and I think this is really takes a lot of guts. I'm not sure if it's smart. He comes comes out basically calls out the team and I think you have to connect the team to Aaron Rodgers here about the apathy against San Francisco. That's something that I'm you still trying to figure out right now as we speak. I mean I don't understand that because you're there you have an opportunity to go to plan a super bowl and for that to happen. It's it's extremely it's bothersome and we gotta look at ourself. Everybody Body my I gotTa look inside myself and see why. Why weren't our players playing with their hair on fire? I think every everybody in our organization it has to do that. He was bothered about lack of urgency. Kind of bailed. Kinda quit isn't this. My single criticism. Never said errands not talented. I've never said he's not great. I've never said he's not a hall of Famer. But don't you look at that road record and go Don't don't just that come from behind playoff record and go Don't you look at his fourth quarter comebacks and go on. The road is about discomfort. Coming from behind is about discomfort. There's comfort that's what it's all about. Stop making excuses. Nobody will talk about this. I think it's a real thing I think it's Gutsy for Matt Leflore to now acknowledge edge the criticisms you often got from McCarthy. Where's the urgency? Where's the leadership? Why are we bailing? Why are we getting blown out multiple times? I think it's Gutsy. I'm not sure if it's smart but he's not wrong. Matlock lure is not wrong. You Watch that you saw it. The Green Bay quit biggest game of the year. Joy News the news. This is the headline news. Well speaking of Aaron Rodgers almost got a patrick mahomes Aaron Rodgers match up in the super bowl this year instead. Mahomes we'll be taking on Jimmy Dean. The forty niners and he was asked if he would reach out to his friend. Aaron Rodgers for any tips on how to prepare for the NFC champs..

"Bill with bill would love to be facing him but nobody is happier in the world other than the Shanahan family that Garoppolos in ballot check because it proves bill right bill had his guy. Hi Bill wanted to go. Bill was allowed to bill how to trade him so he was going to guarantee Garoppolo worked. I'm trading the best young coach and I'm not asking anything nothing in return that will disrupt you potential dynasty. Is that crazy because well I am crazy and I totally agree so I don't know what that says but I do. It makes sense. Why would someone so? I wouldn't describe mobile check as cut throat but well. He has made some pretty cutthroat decisions by would he be so generous to the best young coach and ask nothing in return. He didn't want to get in the way of Garoppolo being great. I'm telling you this weekend I know bill loves Andy Reid. He'd like to see Garoppolo in that thing. It proves his point. Yeah all right coming up next. Eli Manning retires had the great opportunity to host a couple of events with him and interview him several times a guy. I really really liked to great family family. By the way it's American football royalty The Manning Family Archie Peyton ally and actually cooper didn't play but he's one of my favorite people ever. I'm GonNa talk about Eli. Eli And why absolutely he is a hall of Famer and I know there is some debate. That's coming up. Short catch live editions of the heard Weekdays at noon eastern nine am Pacific on Fox.
Eli the Elite?
"Of course we will start with the news that came late yesterday and that is Eli Manning's decision. Chew retire he calls it a career after sixteen. NFL seasons the official announcement will come at a press conference tomorrow morning. He played his entire career with the giants. Why is he won? Two Super Bowls and let the franchise in every passing category. Here is now some reaction to his decision from around the league allows a great fierce competitor man and to be able to play hollow for sixteen seasons. It's a really tough. It's really tough. He's a super bowl. Champion are playing him my rookie year. He almost got me benched because he was lighting up and taking advantage of my. You know my my rookie. Youth is consistent steady throughout his whole career and obviously have a ton respect more. Aw Man he's got so much to be proud of and two super bowl championships. You know with two clutch drives the game. You know to win though so he deserves. I think a ton of accredit successor that time and also just a ton of respect from all of his further career he was able to hop. I mean he's got to be in the top ten in most every meaningful statistics when it comes to quarterback play. Okay so you know I got to play against a lot in the NFC east and really observed him. When I came in as a rookie he had just won the Super Bowl? And so I I enjoy it even when I was at the back of watching just observing high went about his business because I said Kay. That's that's the goal. That's where you want to get to. You can't write the NFL store without Eli Manning well said they're manning one of only five players in NFL history to win multiple super bowl MVP's he seventh. All Time and touchdown passes and passing yards arts and start at two hundred and ten consecutive games for two thousand four to two thousand seventeen the third longest streak for quarterback in NFL history. He was always there if the best ability is availability. He had plenty of that Victor. I'll start with you of course as Eli teammate and friends what's the one thing you remember most about. Eli Manning the player just being an iron man just being accountable just being there when you needed him the most we needed someone to make a play when you needed someone to carry the weight of the team on his shoulders. He took it and he never pointed a finger at anyone on the team. Never pointed the blame at anybody else. He always made sure that when loser draw he's GonNa take the pressure and take the heat off the team and bring everybody better and I think that made us respect him. It made us raise our level of play and it and it just made us go out there with a certain Passionate that certain disciplined to go out there and play with this guy because you knew that he was gonNA bring all he had each and every time he stepped out on their football fields and you knew the preparation was where I remember times where Sunday Hyundai after games that Monday morning already in luxury. Mind you that's off day. That's not even a that. We're supposed to be there. He's there studying getting ready for the next game. Getting Ready for the next opponent opponent and just tackling this thing on and commend you e for just everything for this league for the giants and and you know I know you're only gonNA accomplish more things posts a poster right. That was the first chapter. It's interesting perspective because we have teammate and we have opponent I always a different way to look at things. You have some hardware because the things that he was able to do in that super bowl playing against him a few times I could just say this. He's a constant professional going back a couple years ago even last year having to go up and down on with being a starter then being benched not being there you never saw him complainer or have any. Ill will towards his teammates. He was always trying to be the best teammate. He could be So that just represents his character. The type of team eighty is. It was always just trying to do to do the best for his team and congrats on a heck of a career and let's not forget he did it in New York or science which is not the easiest place to for that length of time with that kind of grace and I know you had a chance to talk to a lot of players today and late yesterday about what else legacy bid. Yeah I gotTa Tell You. It's probably one of the easiest questions I had to ask players about because the answers just came to everyone so quickly because everyone has so so many good stories about Eli and everyone loves to throw in there that he so unassuming he's unwavering and it's it's sometimes I think looked at I and some of the players said this as maybe perhaps a negative connotation because he's not flashy He's got this ability to go out there and running offense and not look physically scary when he does it put the respect is there. I talked to Shawn Watson for almost fifteen twenty minutes about Eli Manning specifically and he said you know I remember number for me going to the manning camps and getting the award and he taught me so many different things about football but he pulled me aside right before I got into the League and talked me about highs and lows and how many I'm about to be part of and in order for me to have six. I gotTA figure out a way to stay in between like I've I just thought of that. I thought of that conversation in moments when things have gotten really bad for me. So I if manning obviously having a tremendous effect on young quarterbacks in old ones as drew brees talk about it there's there's no question is he a hall of Famer absolutely. I think that when you look at obviously the two superlatively fees Only one he's one of the five people that have to Suba. MVP's and you know. I just think his legacy and the things that he left out on their football field. I mean it has to be have to take that into account and I just think he is all of Famer in in my book. I watched the Guy Work Day in and day out. He put the work into a hall of Famer and he put the work in to be even the conversation to be in the hall of fame. You know to this day so I think he absolutely gets Gets a deserves I. Yeah I think so as well look. There's a lot more variables that go into a team and you look at some of the years that they struggled in New York. It's not all allies fault right. There's other things in place there that make a team successful. So with the time he was there he was very good and he brought to Super Bowl so that organization an MVP two times. That's impressive so his body works speaks for itself. I think those players teammates journalists were so close to it. We we constantly talk about how great he is is and he's such a professional and and I think for fans it's hard to understand what we're talking about because we're in it with him. Were in the locker room. You guys are out on the field and you're just a significant -nificant difference when you put together a career the way he has dealt with good in the bed in New York with those cameras in his face and always be the same guy. After all these years I think for me he gets in Beeson the character the man. He isn't of course the fact that he was able to bring the I tell you what I liked that he got that one last start to. I'm not going to lie. It's really nice to be able to walk with the. He deserved that. I still get. I get chills and so Congratulations Eli Manning.

"eli manning" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd
"I think today were packed. It's a great college college football weekend and take great NFL weekend enjoy Taylor's joining me. I'm all fired up. Today is an amazing weekend despite the injuries that we're seeing. How long have you been in this business join? it's while the twelve years what if the first year as you're letting it go back to your first year you made a decision that you WanNa do as you. We're becoming a broadcaster those first couple years Iraqi they would've for me. You decided while I'm doing this. I want to build my brand Amadou a lot of social media. I'm I'm going to be very active. Do you think that would have helped your broadcasting part. No exactly exactly that's why Tom Brady didn't have a brand for ten years. He was just winning. Super Bowls and Kobe Bryant didn't have a brand for seven to eight years. He was just Kobe. Bryant Baker Mayfield decided simultaneously as he's learning the game at the level. I'M GONNA be in forty-eight commercials. Look twitter the last month they're all all commercials all shot in the off season Joe. Thomas is the best Cleveland Football Player in twenty years when Lebron James Left Cleveland. You can't criticize Baker. You can't question Baker the steinbrenners left the rockefellers left Lebron left people leave Cleveland. They don't come come from all over the world with that being the destination like delay or New York or Paris or London or leave Cleveland and Lebron left and Baker's the the guy criticism will not be taken well but Joe Thomas Acknowledges Baker he is seen early. This year is concerning the fact that the ball's not coming out in rhythm is surprising and unsettling to me we saw Baker Pat and the football trying to push the ball down the field. The ball was not are coming out on time even the Times that some of the big plays were being made. It didn't seem like it was happening within rhythm yeah maybe it was the marriage this year which his awesome but there were three hundred fifty people I've been married that takes up a lot of time or the thirteen commercials or the three or four for massive magazine portfolio interviews which took multiple days you know what Lamar Jackson did this off season because I just looked at Lamar Jackson's neck and arms and body join I in the pre show meeting. Lamar Jackson got ten pounds bigger. There's a reason Lamar went from. I'm I'm not sure to Holy Hell. What's that because he didn't get distracted this off season? We never saw Lamar Jackson this off season. I I watch these. NFL Games I see Baker Mayfield on commercials. He's not even in a game. It's thirteen of them. He chose the route which I don't believe is the route out joy and I should take be great then worry about your brand. He's not great yet. He's not frankly through two games even good yet right now Lamar Jackson the better. NFL quarterback winning passer rating touchdown quarterback interception ratio Lamar Jackson Jackson significantly better in Lamar Jackson didn't spend the off season shooting nineteen modeling things and having fourteen articles in nineteen commercials. This is why I said with Baker Mayfield what did he. I'm not saying he didn't practice but then you throw in the fact that Obie Jameson campaign he missed some practices and that's not ideal and then Freddy Freddie Kitchens was right in your hip. He was your guy now. Freddie becomes the head coach so Freddie's got to coach the team and he's not your valet anymore in the fact that last year you played seven of the worst Steve Fences in NFL in the NFL this year you're playing six of the best pass defenses in the NFL so the schedule is harder and the expectations are huge and bakers long glomming build my brand while I get good and I don't believe in this and I said it going out. I never like Mark Sanchez doing all the modeling stuff. Get good at football. Get good at broadcasting. Worry about your brand. After you got a few you know pelts. Tom Brady's for for seven years. I think he had one big commercial. It was a visa commercially sat at a table with a bunch of offensive lineman. He did an eggs commercial but Tom Brady didn't really have a brand until about four four or five years ago after Tom when the Atlanta Super Bowl Tom said okay now. I'm going brand heavy and he does. He did the documentary but you can do that. After like five six superbowls Dell's Kobe Bryant for seven eight years even as a Laker Kobe Bryant he was a basketball guy and then Kobe started doing a lot of international stuff the China trip selling Alan Shoot. That's good. You've got rings bakers not even a good. NFL quarterback yet so joe. Thomas is like it's kind of disturbing. It's not unpredictable predictable rookie head coach tougher defenses thirteen commercials nine magazine articles getting into fights with talk show host America loves loves me. That's outrageous and he didn't get married and I think marriage is cool but I would have said if I was him to all these commercials because I'm already making a fortune I was like you know a top pick. I've already got millions. I would have said I gotta be honest with them. Getting married and it's a really important thing for my life and my wife's amazing I got to invite three hundred fifty people and the only route so I'm going to be running. This year are going to be between the florist and the cater this off season and maybe the wedding photographer 'cause weddings are awesome and I love at this moment for Baker Mayfield but a wedding is time consuming and hard at thirteen commercials bunch at big articles Freddie Kitchens now the head coach not your Valet. La Oh BJ's Kinda there this is not unpredictable. This is why I don't believe in I I'm going to go speak at the Cronkite School of Journalism it Arizona State here in the next few months. I do a couple of a year and when I go and speak to all these young people like before your copy on the Internet get good before snarky and cool on the Internet and eliminate jobs because I've literally the Internet and said Okay. I'll never hire that guy never hired guy never higher that woman once you get good before we get cocky. Why why don't you get good before you have a brand on jewelry about being appro committed teammate Lamar Jackson who has made a unbelievable believable leap? I mean like jaw-dropping like what I went this morning. Joyous my witness. You're in the room right. When I said Lamar? Jackson doesn't even physically look the same this year. There was a shot in our monitor's. I'm doing this morning and I literally I said crunch how much weight his traps his arms his shoulder look at Lamar Jackson Yeah. He's a grown man. He's like a man. That's what he did to this off season right. He spent it in the weight room for hours hours. You know look at him. Don't even look the same. That's what you should do. I don't even know does Lavar have commercials. I've never seen one. He wins a lot more than Baker. Lamar's like the talk of the League this morning Patrick Mahomes and Lamar the talk of the absolute okay. This is what I've said about Cam for years cams sometimes distracted acted by being cam. If you don't think brands are hard to build you know many people I have in my life working on my brand. I've got an agent business manager a social media person. It's it's it's time consuming and I'm off at noon. What if I was a quarterback and I was in the Office for sixteen hours so this is Joe Thomas? If Joe Thomas Talks in Cleveland Listen Don't Thomas is smart. He's the best football player in the state of Ohio for the last two decades. He's a he's one of the top five tackles in the history. Maybe the league remember when Baker Never Forget this memo and Baker took a shot at Duke Johnson the running remember the running back came out do do Johnston says was we got like three great running backs. I JUST WANNA get some touches. There was nothing wrong saying that there's nothing wrong for Duke Jaw and bakers comment. It's very quick. Listen to this. You know we gotta have guys that are goal oriented on a single focus in mind mindset on a single focus. Oh so not thirteen commercials and Multiple Magazine Kazini Articles Battling Beloved American Iconic sportscasters on twitter by the way you know who was focused. Lamar Jackson is in your division playing him very soon a couple of weeks good luck with that by the way jarod Ga wins eighty percent of his starts. I've never never seen them in a commercial period. I've never seen Jerry. He's in Los Angeles. We've got one thousand nine movie studios. I throw a Frisbee and hit eight of them for where I'm standing manning never seen jared goff. He wants to win before he's a brand. I disagree with Terry Bradshaw on the show show next week. I totally disagree with him on something said something yesterday I totally disagree with. I'm fired up today. I had a good night's sleep. I came in awful. You know what this morning. There's no red bull over there. There's no written by the way my caps all messed up calf. I'VE A grade to strain my calf. I gotta get this is at the Tattoo calf breath yeah it is it does CDL. It's about time I felt good about all right. I'm going to disagree with Terry Bradshaw..

"I'm not saying it's Josh has is this was a coach Abano. He's the guy that you facts or do. You not want this big J journalism here. I'll tell you what this we are the standard standard of journalism but if you're GONNA be Jim Harbaugh and makes seven larger year don't Josh Gaddis. I told you the truth of what was going on and I don't disagree with. You and they've got to fix what's going on the short yardage. Okay so Michigan struggled. I know last couple of games in short yardage and that's not acceptable acceptable in particular for our team team which has been great at that and of course the last year. Let's do a big game big game Friday and Saturday to settle powers in college football despite what all these Senate seven Notre Notre Dame Alabama. You're including Notre Dame. I've sat on this couch when you're like. Notre Dame's never going to start over go ahead to seven biggest brands randy okay thank you clarify. Texas Oklahoma Notre Dame Michigan Ohio State Alabama and USC. I see okay. USC LOSES TO UTAH on Friday and they're an underdog. It's over there looking for new coach because they go to Washington and Notre Dame after that yeah yeah. They're scheduled coming up tonight. Let's just let stop. Don't tell me it's Joel Ganassi's fault of USC Loses Josh First of all okay. I'm not telling you that with the US Ray Gaddis has now now. The problem with Michigan Football Got News for you loses Friday. Go get a new coach Do you really want to do that without the yeah. No you're not saying so you put a roof on a house before you have a foundation of course you don't call in common cart before the Horse. No coach can work for an that didn't hire him so I've told uh I told you this last week. You're dead wrong by the way you're dead wrong on this. You can't go and solidify the coaching spot without first solidifying athletic director. I'm not saying you fire Clay Hilton Friday. I'm saying but you make a decision as an organization. He makes that decision the president. That's what they get paid for yet again. I believe if you pay somebody six six million. They got a responsibility to take the if I'm the president. This is what I'm doing at USC. I'm finding I'm concentrating one hundred percent of my effort as it relates to the athletic department it to finding the best possible athletic director so that that person can then make that decision I do. I call my biggest boosters how much money you got in your atm mm-hmm. That's what they've been doing for the last decade. That's why they wound up with. All of these guys weren't great athletic directors but everyone thought like hey big name played was for the program. He's a Trojan. How'd that work out for you. USC Boy you've got a lot of spite their you live here. You think fifty minutes from your house. You think you'd route from a little you drive by a camp. I don't root for anybody buddy what are you. This is big J journalism. You don't know maybe maybe Colorado little bit by the way I give you a nice under on that one or a nice upset okay. I'M GONNA K- before I get I want to get to some stuff so years ago. Mason Rudolph played for Oklahoma State. You did a couple of their games. They're games that's right. He had a shootout with Baker Mayfield. WHO's not and not working in the NFL not working. I guess room for three hundred yards. Winning by twenty is not worth you know since he became starter in the NFL raise leads the NFL and interceptions as he's played for like eight games. Listen listen to Peter King. He's a human bakery. GimMe a break. Baker last night was embarrassing it was. I didn't realize winning by twenty and throwing for three three hundred yards in the national football league is embarrassing was not a good look. It wasn't really what is look jets missing seven starters and they rushed rushed for more than you. They had more time of possession and almost as many I I didn't know bicker was responsible for the run game in Cleveland. Okay so let's go to a beeline. I enjoyed Mason Rudolph. Can he play yes. He can play in fact. I thought that that coming out he was one of the best throwers of the football that we had coming out of you said that actually and he's a big strong armed quarterback very accurate down the field was great deep ball thrower in the college ranks but I liked him what I thought he was going to struggle with which would take some time which which was the schematics of the game 'cause Oklahoma state was a little less intricate than let's say in Oklahoma that has produced the other quarterback so we're talking about so we needed some time. Pittsburgh was is the perfect spot for him because of that he could sit and he could learn he could get comfortable in the national football league. I won't be surprised at all if he has some success and he's got the threat it on the outside that he had in college. Which is that Guy James Washing yeah they play together. They played together. They were great. I thought they were at the time the best deep threat in college football combination. He's a very good player. I will not be surprised at all if he has some success all right. Let's go to this Daniel Jones. You gotta you didn't Broadcast Games did not you did. You're a little questionable a bowl of his arm strength. I I was hard on the giants for their pick. I thought it was the wrong place to pick Daniel Jones. If it works out then it was the right place to pick him the thing that I thought about Daniel Jones's. I thought that we had seen the best that Daniel Jones had off right see much upside. I didn't see much potential now having said that he played great in the preseason we season the regular season is far different than the preseason so we'll see how this all plays out in New York. I thought that there were guys with better potential however however I did say at that time he was the most pro ready at the time if you needed a guy to play tomorrow so maybe they're selection of Daniel Jones actually was more of a clue of what they thought a lot of Eli Manning in terms of his long jetty or how long this was actually going to play out in reality because now it's here and it's Daniel Jones Aaron. I think maybe that selection was less about. Hey We just love Daniel Jones and more about hey. This is not gonNa work long term and we're going to need somebody to play within the first three four five weeks of the NFL so you you know it's funny. He actually in a uniform looks like I'm not joking he does. He literally looks like he lime is looking at that picture like he looks like some sort suck he he basically he he throws like he's more athletic version. He's like Alex Smith Straight Line speed. He's not clever like the Mar- but he can run. If you just give him the ball and say gopher thirty yards she can run all right. Let's Segue back to the college football. I'M GONNA teach a couple of lessons here. Let's start with this. I'll teach you you've been very critical of Brian Kelly at Notre Dame to the point point where I'm uncomfortable. I gotTa tell you talking about a lot of time. Linden what I it's a lot of a lot of negativity but it's totally disagree. I'm the one out here defending Notre Dame when you're taking shots at about Oh it's a it's a cold climate. It's a religious undertones and I just don't think that can be great anymore and I'm like no. They're one of the biggest biggest brands and college football and then today all the sudden you're like you've been critical brown color. They're one of the top throw this is this. I'll tell you it's an inquisition. I think this quarterback in book. I think Notre Dame's got a shot at Georgia. I saw the line this morning so it's fifteen. I'm like hires. Notre Dame comply with George. Here's why that line is where it's at. Georgia is an elite rushing team. They're leading the se again two hundred eighty six yards a game on the ground and if you were to look at Notre Dame. They played only two games because they've already had one of their off weeks. They Played Louisville the weakening they they came back their game in the opening Weekends Louisville. The one question mark I had coming out of that game was their run defense. They missed a lot of tackles gave up or too many yards per rush and that was against Louisville and so now you're going to face a team in Georgia that is four superior from a rushing standpoint. That's the concern for me with. Notre Dame and I think that's why the line is where it's at because that's what Notre Dame is going to try to do and that's where Notre Dame has fallen short of bit early in the season but I am. I am absolutely a Brian Kelly defender. I think that Notre Dame is and should be and will be a great program in college football. I like in book I like him. Ian Book is a very good player. There's no doubt about vais stay right now as a program with book as our quarterback with their head coach there in a very Michigan esque type of spot in that they need one one of these winds yeah but I think there are better than Michigan because books better than they beat Michigan last year and I think they're better. I think this book kid. I think I think play in the NFL potentially Patterson's Patterson's not playing in the NFL. Maybe not all I'm saying is that when they've gotten on this stage the national narrative tends to be like well they can't play with the teams in the SEC who this guy is in in book is not Jolie's. He's a better athlete little less of a thrower than Baker Mayfield. He's I think he's really good. He's not he's not the thrower. That Baker is so. Is this a compliment for Baker because you love you know but I think he in books get drafted in the third round. Baker got drafted number one you you got old which which she should. She should have been taken. Let me give you one more or less. I'm just telling you right now. Notre Dame needs one of these from a national playoff perspective narrative. They need one of these wins based based on how they played in the National Championship game a few years ago which is unfair to the current batch of kids there and then how they played last year against Clemson in the semi-final we're not going to you're upset of the week anymore. I saw that's right because I was tuna last week to upstage you by the way I'll do it. It's Oklahoma State Watch out Texas. Oklahoma state is a good football team. Watch out for Oklahoma state awesome. I'll make a lot with the long. Texas wins by twenty all right my lock of the week. You did that spite go rhino. Hey Goulet this morning. What did I come in. What was my lock of the week you yesterday. You said you're on Texas. Yeah my guy a bunch of sources all right. We'll see my sources are impenetrable loser sits with a Cobra next week okay. Finally I want more my sources again. Please might as well give you one so here. It is here's what I told a big shot a CEO CEO of a major corporation in America. They are done with chip Kelly. It's not the record it's not the record is not doing the booster stuff. He's disengaged with recruiting. He's too aloof. He's not part of the family. It's not it's not the losing chip. Kelly is running out of allies is it. UCLA fast. That's interesting because we have not seen what we have not seen in college. Football is guys getting fired for performance reasons in only the two seasons right. That's that's very uncommon but he is seen as so iconoclastic in so sort of aloof. If you don't have allies in a building I don't disagree. Everybody here. Loves me so I'm safe. You're on the road all the time. You need to make more friends here so you're like chip. Kelly you got you got very few Allah. I think he's in trouble..

"Let's have Peter King join us. He's out east and I said when I lived out East for eleven years. I'm a West Coast Guy. I the hundred year old churches the hundred year old baseball parks tradition and hierarchy are more important than out west where we just you know we got big states. Put a piece of dynamite in that casino blowed up and build a new one. That's kind of the West Coast way right you. Just you know Silicon Valley wasn't around thirty years ago. It's a different vibe out east. I think you you have to be more delicate. When you have the veteran quarterback the manning name the hierarchy it matters to the Mara family so how's it plan in New York today. Let's go to Peter King football morning in America the Coward Global Satellite Network. I love to listen to New York sports radio today. I would absolutely love to hear what they're yelling and screaming. How do you think it plays in new ORC. Peter Will Colin. I think you're going to get some people in New York. Both in the media and in the fan base is who say oh poor Eli. He doesn't deserve this but again. I mean it's just time it's two or three years pastime time you know since Eli Manning won his second Super Bowl en la God bless him for winning super bowls with the two teams he did for beating eating the Great Bill Belichick and Brady twice. I talked to Brady a week or so ago and he said that's that the super bowl loss still pains them. Both the Super Super Bowl losses still really paying him and I think the one thing you think about with Eli Manning is you think about those two games. What what do you think about in the seven years since the second super bowl I mean what do you think about you. Think about a guy who has been a mediocre. NFL quarterback right that's sit. It is time to change you know since New Year's Day two thousand seventeen. I think I'm right in saying this since his playoff game in Green Bay Day. He started thirty four games and he's won eight of them. It's just time Colin I mean time waits for nobody in the NFL and and it's time for the giants to move on at quarterback so the steelers to me sent to messages by trading for Minka Fitzpatrick number one they're not giving up on the season and number or to next year is a quarterback heavy draft class in the first round and they're telling me we like Mason Rudolph six five two thirty productive big arm and in northern climate. I'm at Pittsburgh's telling me that. Do you think the season's lost because they're telling me their messaging. Is We still think we can win this division now. This tells me two things number one. They believe that Ben Rothlisberger is GonNa come back and they believe he's going to play at least two more years and I think it says one other thing the Pittsburgh steelers rated Minka fitzpatrick very highly in the draft a couple of years ago how high I don't know five seven eight something like that but it was a very high on their draft board and now they have the opportunity to get in for what they think will be picking number Fifteenth Twentieth. Pick in this draft which I think that's being pretty optimistic that they're Owen to having to play with Mason Rudolph. I think it was a pretty rich price to pay but to me. I think they believe that. Rothlisberger is going to play some more after this year and obviously as you say they they like what they have in Mason Rudolph has what's the most I mean. New England's obviously been amazing and Kansas. City is going to score over twenty five game bank it. Has there been a team team. That's been impressive to you though that maybe isn't getting the publicity so far Baltimore first of all they have a quarterback who now isn't just to running quarterback. He's a guy who can throw the ball very well. Deep Downfield and as long as Hollywood Brown stays healthy which is always going to be a question in with someone as slight as he is They're going to have their own del. Beckham junior their own deep threat who's going to make can impact on every game. He plays in but I also think that one of the reasons why I think Baltimore would be very interesting. Candidate for Jalen Ramsey Z. is that I think they're shutdown corner away from being a very competitive with New England and Kansas City. They're going to be competitive with them anyway but I I think if look Jalen Ramsey is going to cost a lot if the Jaguars even trade him and I don't know if if when you're Baltimore if you look at Jalen Ramsey and say man. DO WE WANNA pay this guy eighteen or twenty million a year. Whatever I don't even know what the number is going eh but it's GonNa be a silly number. Do we WANNA pay that long term but I think Baltimore is is the other really surprise in in a good way to winnow team in the league you know the Rams had the best record last couple of years in the NFL along with New England. I did feel a lot of people thought the saints would come back and punish them. I didn't my strongest belief of the weekend was rams. beat the saints. I'm not a critic of Goff. I saw him out dual Patrick Trick Mahomes on a football game. That was good football games. I've watched in a decade What are we learning about. The Rams Post Super Bowl loss. They got a road win. They beat the saints. They look good to me again. Peter I think the the two things when I visited the rams in camp and spent spend some time with Sean McVeigh. There's two things that really impressed me one is that he was absolutely totally. Unequivocally equivocally all in with Jared Goff air you look at how golf played in the postseason not too good and you look at how the rams performed in the Super Bowl and you say you know maybe they're not ready for that big stage but McVeigh when McVeigh did his contract in late July and when the rams announced it what they didn't announce is that when McVeigh did his contract he said to the rams brass. Hey listen. I you want Jared Goff to get done to. I do not want this to be any sort of question any sort of sort of Damocles hanging over our head so you you know and they got now. Obviously they got golfed onto. That's one thing I think. The second thing it's been really interesting to watch is that this is a very impressive passive defensive team. This is not a team that is just okay on defensive relies too much on Aaron Donald. This is a defense that that is better than we think and they're getting better play. I believe in the first two games out of their corner position than they got last year so I agree with you. I think the rams have an excellent chance to win the NFC again by the way before we go. There were two bad teams last night. One had an excuse I look at the next five games for the browns their opponents or ten in Oh there's a lot of New England's coming up and rams coming up. My gut feeling is right now. Peter I think Cleveland's this thing could unravel fast. They really game shouldn't have been close last night third quarterback for the jets seven starters out. I'M GONNA make could production in three weeks. CLEVELAND UNRAVELS WELL. What did you see last night. I don't think so I mean I think Baker may feel. I I mean we have to remember this is the this is the basically he still in his first year. I mean he's not he's not been a starter. What what does he have eight ten starts under his belt. I mean he's just he still evolving as a player. I think he's going to be okay and I think he's he's actually going to be a very good player in the NFL. Their offensive line concerns me. Yes no question about it. I don't know how they're going to block Aaron. Donald this Sunday I don't i. I don't know we'll see how it happens. I don't see it but the one thing I in in looking at the schedule if they come out of his two and three Colin in the next five weeks I they'll be fine yeah boy. It's a rough on. NFL did them no favours with that offensive line and who they face Peter King Football Morning America NBC Sports Dot Com. Thanks Peter Colin all right. I'll tell you the team I like so far. Watch the niners play. They are so much fun. Eight different guys caught a ball six different guys carry the ball the niners under Kyle Shanahan. I know you haven't watched them. Cincinnati game. Nobody in the country sought keep your eye on the niners fun to watch Joel class around the corner as as well be sure to catch live editions the heard weekdays at noon eastern nine. Am Pacific Saturday Michigan and Wisconsin discover card. Key matchup automatically matches the miles. You earn your first year. Thirty five thousand miles could become seventy thousand miles discovered miles card discover dot com slash travel speaking of Michigan Wisconsin the guy that's GonNa be calling that for our network Mr College Football Joel Klatt. Come on bring it up you know they just legalized beer-drinking Wisconsin last week well at the stadium at least ace yeah. They've been drinking at other places anyways yeah. I can't wait for this matchup boy. I tell you what Michigan their struggles offensively against what is right now and I know it's only been two games and I understand that Wisconsin's opponents have not been great but Wisconsin the number one total defense scoring defense rushing defense passing defense passing efficiency defense. They haven't given up the boy have not given up point and so now Michigan with their struggles offensively through the first two games after face that defense. I can't wait to watch this play now. You and I have defended Jim Harbaugh and rightly so yes this weekend. Are you about to jump for it listen. I like they could get away from the ledge. No step back to more gay four years in you've gotta be able to beat Wisconsin at Michigan. Okay Bo Sham Boeckler was beaten Wisconsin listen. I think Wisconsin is really I mean Wisconsin is in the top ten. I'm not ready to throw JIM harbaugh out not throwing him out. I'm saying I'm a huge harbaugh fan. He's got on this offense. It's not getting better well. That's interesting that you say that because this is the least involved he's been with any of his offenses offenses at any level so if you go back to his days at San Diego that's where he started as a head coach San Diego then he goes to Sanford then he goes to the forty niners now how es with Michigan. This is unequivocally. The least involves Jim Harbaugh has ever been with an offense of his team. Well what does that mean. Let me tell you what I mean so in every game plan or offense meeting in the past at wherever he's been he's been involved in the offense of meetings. We we now have in crackers now. He's being more of a CEO. He's left it to Josh Gattis so he he will pop in on one of those meetings and then he'll go spend time with special teams and with the defense and he kind of he's more of hover more a more of a hoverer and he's less involved in the actual game planning so now he's doing more of the CEO type EPA deal versus being involved in the actual play calling on Saturday being involved specifically in the game planning during the course of the week. It's so I. I think that that's interesting. I don't know if people out there know that this Jim Harbaugh handed the keys to his whole program offensively to Josh Gaddis who had never called place before in his life eh and now this is Josh. GATTIS is offense says throwing Josh Gaddis under a boss a little am. I not just it's everybody's so if it fails at Josh Gannon getting out in his boss team I don't WanNa. I don't use agree with that. I disagree with that guy. He gases a young guys in his thirties. He was at Alabama last year as a coordinator Mike Locks. I'd never even heard he comes from the Joe Moorhead Tree. If those of you that are following this Joe Moorhead is the head coach. Mississippi state bad loss by the way last weekdays. He's a great coach. He is a great coach offensively and what he did at Penn state he came from Fordham the FCC goes to Penn State with trace mcsorley and saquon Barkley and then Nick Sabin was like hey. I want to run that offense so he went and he got some guys that were disciples of Joe Moorhead as Joe Moorhead moved to Mississippi State. One of them was Josh Gattis. He was at Bam last year. Ah Harbaugh said Hey I want that okay so he got Josh Gad but if they lose Josh Gannets gets nailed because he was a co coordinator of a college football team and now the whole if they stink Saturday at Con- you say that was such disdain disdain for anybody who's the mid day host K. W. X. in Seattle I maybe any good. You're doing drive time. The point is you can't blame Josh. What's this show. This thing unravels. I don't WanNa hear about Josh Gad. I'm not saying it's Josh has is this was a coach Abano. He's the guy that you facts or do. You not want this big J journalism here. I'll tell.

"I went to nantucket the museums and I loved it but I prefer being able to just tear stuff down and start over. If it's crappy be and sometimes old is crappy. It's not awesome. I didn't go to the old crappy buildings out there in museums. I wanted to the cool new ones. I had a choice in sort of the New York giants. You got to move off in. It's wrecking ball time. Let him be a mentor. It's respectful dignified the first time you did it was a little rocky rocky but now it's time. I mean you're going to see him. Get you want to see them. Get beat by thirty by Dak again you. WanNa see him get humiliated by Carson Wentz again or Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers or all jared Ga for all these new young quarterbacks. I mean this morning. I looked around and I was looking at the ages of some of these quarterbacks. This is the new. Nfl Goth is twenty four Dacca's twenty-six Wentz. His twenty-six Mahomes is twenty four to Shawn Watson Twenty Four. I mean outside of Mitch Trubisky. There's not only a bunch of new quarterbacks. I like all of them. I mean they've all got little holes Tyler's. A little small for me gets hurt a lot to shauna cross. My fingers fingers golf. Sometimes I wish he was more athletic but it's a perfect time for Eli and it is absolutely perfect time for Daniel Jones. This is not the Miami Dolphins opens. There's real players here and by the way the giants have to get some stuff figured out so now you move in Daniel Jones. Let's figure out can Daniel Jones play because this is not not this is not a an offense that needs to be totally rebuilt and also Pat Shurmur the right guy and the minute the New York giants the minute they selected Daniel Jones at number six and told us how great he was our scouts. He's the Bat K now now. You told US Daniel Dolan was great. We didn't think so you did so now. You're being completely dishonest. Watching Eli play watching a young kid. Josh Allen Alan beat you at home this weekend by not going to Daniel Jones so you can at least be honest authentic ethical because you told us Daniel Jones sounds great and all of us said you're not but if you're truly honest authentic unethical and you think he's as good as you claim the draft pick you selected at then. You have no choice then the plan because a we know Eli shot fighter and be. We're watching all these young guys work well. When's the last guy that didn't work in this league. I'll tell you Paxton Lynch of the last twenty guys drafted after the first round at quarterback young guys nineteen and I love trubisky are winning games or at least productive so you trapped yourself when you draft a Daniel Jones owns. You trapped yourself because you keep telling us how great he is and then we watch them in preseason was pretty great. We'll play him congrats to Eli on a remarkable career. You know second third time. He's available. He'll get some hall of fame vote who knows and Daniel Jones. I was not watching the giants game this weekend. I am now. I'm watching it now win for the NFL win for the giants by the way also in New York last night. There were two bad football teams. One had an excuse the New York jets were on their third quarterback. They didn't have their best defensive player arguably. Cj Moseley they didn't have their number one pick three defensive starters out there tight end still out with a dui in the off season suspended the New York jets were missing seven starters seven in starters yet they one time of possession had more yard rushing almost as many first downs and they were both equally inept on third down this game should have and this should have been the Patriots and the dolphins and the third quarter if the jets get a first down they were trailing sixteen to three Lebian..

"Manning and Daniel Jones. It's a perfect time for him. Look around the League Kylo Murray's a baby and Josh L. Baby and it's all working the transition from college quarterback to NFL. quarterback has gotten significantly the easier in the last five years because so many of the college concepts are being accepted now they weren't years ago in the NFL so we're just taken in college quarterbacks. SAN WE'RE GONNA use seventy percent of your college offense and heck out in Arizona about the coach with them. That's the new. NFL and it's where everybody's working Lamar's working. I thought Lamar was a project not even a prospect. I thought Josh Allen was project. I watched them this weekend. I'm like he's. He's better than Eli Daniel. Jones doesn't inherit a mess. They're really not Daniel. Jones gets an offensive line. They've invested a lot of money in Evan Ingram's in an emerging merging excellent tight end when Golden State's back. They got real wide receivers saquon. Barkley is a star and Pat. Shurmur is a very good offensive coach this. This is not the Miami Dolphins here. Daniel Jones will move the chains. This is a lot better than Josh. Allen got his rookie. It's certainly better than Josh Rosen gotten in his. I do jobs. Its better right now than cuyler. Murray has and kind of merged with three hundred fifty yards but the east coast and I loved it. I just soaked up all the tradition I went to all those hog work. Private prep schools. I go on tours to the Dinosaur Museum Yale. I went to all the stuff I put my arms around rounded..

"Radio and F one one hour from now. The herd word hierarchy in the buffalo bills are in joy. Taylor is joining me joy. How are you good Morning Good Morning. Eli Manning is bench. Finally finally finally it's time. It's a good day for let me start with this. I I am from the West and I currently live in the West but I moved to the Northeast for eleven years. I had a wonderful wonderful time. There were many great things not counting the weather of course I loved about the northeast but one of the things that always struck me you would would never have a fenway park out west. We would just blow it up and start over in the West doesn't matter what Grandpa did or what your dad did you chase your own dreams out east chase. GRANDPA's dreams in your dad's dreams for you. The East is about two hundred year old churches and hundred-year-old Baseball Stadiums uh-huh and seven thousand year old private schools and hierarchy tradition. There would be no fenway park in San Francisco. We just build new park. We don't romanticize yesterday. We don't have the east coast history. We got a lot of space and a lot of mountains and a lot of ocean views and people upgrade and move from neighborhood to neighborhood and it's okay an out west they would have benched Eli Manning seven years ago. Maybe five but out east it was hard. The manning's our American royalty in the New York giants a blue blood franchise and is nice and Eli is us. He's the old and church he's Fenway Park. There's great memories and we can't bench Eli. L. Shot fighter God. If he played in Denver he would have been benched years ago to be played in Seattle San Francisco. They made a bench in between super bowls. It's just the way the east coast is and it's an amazing part of the East Coast churches and the prep schools and history and the family trees and it's wonderful and it's been holding the New York giants back for half a decade. It's time the giants benched Eli today time number one he. This is a perfect time. He's won sixteen. One sixteen is a starter. He doesn't have a losing record. You don't bench him with a losing record and this giants team was going to go three and thirteen so when you look back in thirty or forty years and that matters to people out east one sixteen and one sixteen two super bowls and he beat Brady both times and he's getting into the hall of fame. Maybe at least he's getting votes. It's perfect you don't want him to go three thirteen off a five and eleven season off a three and twelve season. This is dignified. He can now be a mentor.

You have to take something at a preseason. Dak act prescott is he popped remember his first game in los angeles and we were all like i was a skeptic. I was like it's preseason. I learned my lesson. Preseason means something thing daniel jones although i don't think he'll complete eighty five percent of his throws in the n._f._l. Appears to be good enough at this point in ally manning's career to play and give you at least what eli manning does. The giants do have upgraded offensive line. They have a superstar running back. Pat shurmur is a very good offensive coach. I don't know if their defense is good enough. I don't think their defense is good enough in their division to compete with philadelphia in dallas alice but of the two or three things i've noticed in preseason might take away his daniel jones is now good enough to put in behind eli manning and you feel confident he can at least give you an easy lie level of play with better legs better athletic ability and i think at this point more upside. That's the thing i noticed. The second thing i noticed in the preseason pittsburgh has upgraded their defense significantly devin bush. Maybe the steal of the draft. Maybe the best player in the draft linebacker for michigan. He's been amazing. They went and got a starting corner from kansas city steve nelson they've they've gone from af they addressed it in the draft my second thing i've noticed in this preseason and again this stuff some of it matters pittsburgh looks focused. They've been hearing all year that cleveland's going to dominate the division. Antonio brown is out. James washington has been as good as any young receiver in the n._f._l. Fell so that's another takeaway. I think pittsburgh looks better defensively and for the record they lead the n._f._l. I believe or the a._f._c. last year in sacks so it's not right like they didn't have talent so these are the two big takeaways for me in the preseason. Giants have a quarterback now to replace eli. He is at at least as good as eli with pat shurmur as the coordinator with much higher upside at this point in the career. He's an athlete. He can move better than eli and the steelers defense is is absolutely for real. There's a couple other individual things. I've seen individual players but so far those two things that jump out to me. I don't think you can take a a ton from it. I i will say this about new. England is that new england last year and this is what the patriots have done very very well. They a step ahead of the league on little alterations seeing a crisis before it becomes one seeing a trend before it becomes one last year new england was eleven eleven and one when they one time of possession and tom brady has aged. Did you notice what they did in the playoffs last year. What was their take possession against the chargers thirty minutes chiefs forty four minutes rams thirty three what they're doing. Did you notice their off season acquisitions <music> of those fast receivers.

"But what I do know is that if the giants do make the decision that they need to move on from alleviate Vernon that is an awful lot of production. That is a very good football player who will need to be replaced. All right. Let's switch gears right now for you. Here. You're going to hear a pair of interviews. The first one will be with David Morris of QB country. And after that, you will hear my interview with drew boil heart of the huddle report. I hope you enjoy both. So real quick. Let's let's get started the Justice quickly. Tell people a little bit about QB country a little bit about what you do. Yes country is they the quarterback training development company trains, NFL guys all the way down the middle school kids. And and and outset of bread butter majority of what we do is as a company would be would be high school middle school. Wait, we we tried a lot of college guys as we kept our college guys over the years, and we have to Clinton benef- L stuff now that same half. But yes, so that's kind of kind of the way it works. And you know, you have a a long term relationship with the guy who's quarterbacking the giants right now that being ally. Manning, you're college teammate, AVI, Eli correct? That's right yet. And what you know. What do you see now from Eli manning? I'd be so much talk about ally. And how much time he might have left in his career. And whether the giants should continue to go with Eli manning. What are you see when you when you look at Eli manning now? Got it. Played the high level. You know think he is good if he's ever been. And I think he's a guy that showed, you know, showed that this year at times, and I know that you know, their times. You would tell you he wants to play better. But I mean, I think he's got a lot left in the tank, and and I think, you know, he's he's in a position where he's working like he's gonna be playing, you know, for you know, for for the foreseeable future. So it may not ain't nothing changes in his mind. And I think he's a guy that you know, that that is going to is going to be out of for while. Okay. So obviously, you know, the everybody talks about you know, you lie being, you know, thirty eight this coming season the giants, perhaps, you know, needing to to begin to think about a transition plan, you know, for ally. At least that that seems to be the majority opinion in you happen to to work with a guy who who people think might be a giants target when it comes to that transition plan that being do quarterback Daniel Jones if I'm not mistaken you have worked with Jones since he was a high school kid. Yup. Started trying to Daniel since I guess, it is software your high school. So did you want? When did you begin to see, you know, the kind of ability in Jones that, you know, people might you know, you might be a first round pick. He might be a second round pick. Everybody seems to feel a little differently about what Jones might be you know, in this coming draft. When did you start to see that kind of ability in him? Thought early on. There was thought early on. There was a lot of potential. There was I saw a kid who's very hungry. A kid who's talented and a kid who was crawling in and very mature. And and you know, they're driven. And I think from a young age you see all that stuff..

"That's about it. Michael. OBI, Jay's. One of those guys is a leader. I think he owes it to the organization and come out and say right now, ally we're doing too much underneath stuff. Like, what did you make comments? Oh, just got paid. He's a respect guy amongst his peers in the locker room, and he has the right DeVos. Voices opinion. And even though ally is old veteran and no shots were taken more so at ally, he can do that. You know, he's a guy that lacked council on and vice versa. So you can voice your opinion and say, yeah, we have to play more heart. We have to be more aggressive. That's almost a cra- for help, and it's nothing wrong with that. If one of my receivers ever did that, I will listen. And for the most part yesterday, I think they did. I think the game plan was better. I thought eat, I made some mistakes in. He had one bad pig at one bet and exception what he thought almost two thought to the safety practically and. What was wrong. I applaud them for that. I look at that as a step in his growth. You know, it's funny. They keep baby and Eli manning, like Eli manning is part of the manning family. These are grownups. They understand football, and I just I don't understand this constant massaging in his babying of Eli manning, and I'm not always an ode l. Beckham guy. There's times I think he needs to grow up, but I support him here. Okay, so I'm watching Aaron Rodgers, and I know the kicker was terrible, but Aaron was rough in the first half, Aaron was down twenty four, nothing. I mean it was rough earned, but I thought he did enough now is easy to say hindsight, those field goes, could it changed the dynamic of the game? Yes. Yep. And in a moment Mason Crosby has to make those kicks. Yes, Aaron then played. I bet. I thought he did enough, but it just goes soda in. It's the total team gang eras could have had. A stellar performance where he his numbers through the roof and Mason could still went down and missed those kicks and they still lose the game. And we still say, what could Aaron Rodgers have done better? Now, the unfortunate part about planning quarterback position thing about the plant in the national football legal, any team sport. Did you ever have a terrible game and win? Yeah. Had some some ugly wins ugly winds that was better than pretty losses. Do you have a great day and you lost? Yes. You know a game against the New Orleans Saints that I can remember in two thousand six. Why rushed for one hundred and seventy five yards past four hundred ninety yards and did everything I could do to win a game and put my team position to win and we still lost and it was because of the defense they didn't. They wasn't able to stop ju- breeze. Yeah, and just part of it. Ironically, you know, yesterday on our show, we was talking about guys flicking the Braff flicked the bird up into the crowd, and I was, you know, it was because I was emotionally upset and yeah. And I put so much hot and sole into to the game in the way I play and and I wanted my teammates to be the same way, but everybody's not the same. Yeah, Michael Vick good. Seeing you on a Monday, four time pro bowler. Thirteen. NFL seasons. Good Seaney by cassini's Michael Vick coming up in less than thirty minutes where Colin was right, we're calling was wrong. It was a wild weekend in Vegas. It was a wild weekend in the NFL. What do we do with that Conor McGregor mass among other things that's coming up, be sure to catch live editions of the heard weekdays at noon, eastern nine AM Pacific on Fox Sports. Radio f s one and the iheartradio app go Davin. Great. NFL weekend. Good college..

"Which they did it could have been handled better maybe don't make it where eli moments after he finds out has to answer questions may be don't mm maybe there's a gentler way to go about it bought the giant no is next year is the first year they can easily get rid of eli and not have it ruin their cap would the giants no is for the first time since he lies been there there staring at a topfive pick would the giants no is over the last five years no player in the league is thrown more interceptions than eli manning and they have two quarterbacks on that roster one is gino smith that i know we all believe it's terrible but they have him cheaply and they wanna know can he at least be a serviceable backup they also have the guy they like enough in davis weather they spent a third round pick on him they need to get him out there sooner than later to find out davis or you good enough to where when we do have this topped by big we don't take a quarterback so it might have been on for what might have been on giant like but i've seen teams in this sport and other sports trying to do right by their player kobe bryant who is a much better player than eli manning a much greater legacy than eli manning the lakers wanted to do right by him and their franchise has still not recovered from it so cited giants civilized starts these final games five games he's got two hundred and ten starts thirdmost in nfl history him for and his brother oh that's going to set the franchise back because he's gonna start these last five game well what if what if what if davis web is excellent and i the davis webb was excellent davis web would be starting on sunday dayvisit web i can understand he they should play him at some point but vilm putin there's nothing worst been losing your job than losing your job that someone is not better than you.
