"Too far ahead, maybe you can't hear him anymore. If you get too far in the future, somebody asked me the other day. Do you plan on passing elevation church when you're 80? If I even start thinking about having to have a new sermon, 38 years from now, y'all will watch me have a panic attack on YouTube in front of the world. I can't think that far out. All I know is today, he told me to tell you, God's got your back. God's got your back. God's got your back. God's got your back. This is the way. This is the way. Yeah, that's good. This is the way. You can't see me. But you believe me. This is the way walk in it. We walk by faith, not by sight. I'm not looking at what I'm walking into. I know what I'm walking in with. I got a word from almighty God over my shoulder to fight every devil and to tell every jezebel. I am not profit. I will stand up on the mountain of the lord. I will proclaim illustration in progress. I will declare the works of the lord. This diet will go down. This is the way walking in. And one word from God is all you need to walk into this day. This is the way walk in it. This is the way walk in it. When you get to the next day, I'll give you the next word. When you get to the next turn, I'll give you the next word. When you get to the next decision, I'll give you the next word. When you get to the next challenge, I'll give you the next word. Because I got your back, see. 'cause I'm right back here, see, 'cause I'm fighting stuff behind you. That you don't even know about. That's why I got so back. That's why you can't see me. There's a feeling with every film in the Red Sea. Behind you. So you don't feel bad. I got your back. God, Scott's your back. Let pharaoh know, I don't need you anymore. God's got my back. So I'm not just going back to school. I'm going back. I'm going back. God's got my back. I don't care if you like me. God loves me. I don't care if you notice me. God knows me. I'm care if you recognize me. What that is revealed. Is this guy? My back.

"Property today? And it's all right. And you can give your elevation church sticker on the car. You want to take it off. Because I'm still crazy. Well, I think we have the right as the children of God. Not in an entitled way, but in an expectant way. That if Jesus lives in us and we are in him, I expect God to direct me. I expect God to direct me. You say, well, he's God. How can you tell them what to do? No, no, that's what he told me he wanted to do for me. So I expect God to direct me. When I'm getting ready to preach, I expect God to lead me to the passage he wants me to preach. I don't come to this Bible thinking I've got it figured out. And I don't come to the passage thinking that I know what it means. I expect God to direct me. Everybody say I expect God. To direct me. Now put it in the chat and say that loud if you're here, I expect. God, to direct me. I expect him to direct me in my relationships. I expect that he's going to bring the right people in my life in this season. Not only want him to be the bouncer at the entrance, but the exit. I want him to decide and direct in my life who gets in and who goes out. And I expect God to direct me. I believe that every good and perfect gift comes from above. So I expect God to bring opportunities into my life. You say that sounds cocky. No, no, no. I'm crazy. So I expect God to give me the opportunity because I know that it wasn't by my own power. It wasn't by my own strength. Nothing in my life makes much sense. We wrote the lyric. I think it over and it doesn't add up. That's the math. When I think of what God has done, how many have the same testimony? And when I know how crazy I am, how crazy I can be. How many ways I've wandered along the path? How many left turns were a part of God getting me to the right place? You don't understand. I expect God to direct me in my future because the only reason I'm here right now is because of his faithfulness. So when something comes in my way, I don't stick my chest out. I bow my knee and I say God, thank you for

"Hey, my name's Larry bride, but everybody calls me LB, one of the pastors here at the elevation. And I get the joy of opening up God's word with you today. Here in elevation shirt. So welcome, all of our locations. Online family. My wife and I were one of the original families that helped start this church over 16 years ago. And it's been the biggest joy of our life to see what God has done through this ministry. And I just wanted to show you just a little bit. Just a visual, it's really good to look back and remember God's faithfulness. Because in a moment, like, well, God, what are you going to do? Just look back what he did in your past is probably what he's going to do in your future. He's been good to you. And we have so many new people here at elevation, and I just want to give you just a glimpse of maybe some of the things that you might know about that got established in the past. So here at Valentine, I'm going to get everybody on the floor to help me. Everybody else stays standing. All the locations stay stand by. Everybody on the floor here, just take a seat. Elevation began with 8 family selling their homes and quitting their jobs back in 2005. My wife and I were one of those original 8 families just to give you a point of reference, have the front row stand up here. And then one, two, three, four, 5, 6, two, 6, stand up. So right there. So February, tap on the shoulder. There you go. February 2005, this is the size of elevation church. Do not despise the day of small beginnings. Look how good our God is. A year later, a year later, February of 2006 February 5th we'd have our very first worship experience in elevation church. Center section. It's a 120 people stand up, just the center section right here. Now we had

"And say, keep going. Keep going. Because your doubts ensure that God gets the credit and glory in the end. Isn't it crazy that the church thought it was Peter's angel that was knocking on the door? They thought he had died and thought it was Peter's angel. That was knocking on the door. If we're not careful, we'll believe something even crazier just to not give God the glory. This is what I find a lot of people do. I do it. I'm like, oh my goodness. This has happened. My wife's like, no. That's not right. That's not how to hit. I'm so grateful for my wife because 6 years ago, we were living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and we had just been married for four months. And we loved the church that we were at. We loved the passage there. Loved the city. Love the people. We thought we'd be there for a whole decade. No joke. Seriously. And then elevation church opened up their doors for their very first time and the thing called inside elevation. And this is the first time that ministry you could go there and learn about all the amazingness of elevation church, right? And I remember I'm getting 8 tickets. Little did I know that a means new beginnings. But I got a ticket. I don't even know why. We didn't have a team. This is like 8 tickets. I'm getting them. And we get the 8 tickets. We drive up. The moment we stepped foot on the Lake Norman campus, I knew, oh gosh. This is where we're supposed to plan our family. This is where we're supposed to be. And I might never do full-time industry again if I work at Lowe's, I'll be a manager, not.

"Your with us. You never left. And now we have to do is stay close, turn around. Look up. And right now in this moment, lord, we receive your grace. I thank you for your mercy, not giving us the things that we deserve. For your patience, every time that I've ever said, it's not fair. Thank you, God. For just staying there with me. Would you strengthen her slurred as we pressing close to you? Let us not grow weary. Let us not lose hope. We cling to the promise. Did you are doing so much more that we could ever ask or imagine? Even in the places that we can't see God we believe now that you are working. You love you. Send Jesus name I pray. Amen. Thank you for joining us. "And I'm not got a friend who has a knee and I'm a get my friend to the feet of the one who has to work. He taught with so much power and authority that the crowds are crowds loved him until he got to the part that they couldn't stomach. Until he let them down. Now this is something I want to bring you today and see if it resonates with your heart. Are you a come up Christian only? You know what I mean by come up? In the original Hebrew, come up. Means the part of the story where the success is accumulating and the benefits are accruing. It seems that Peter, as she followed Jesus through a certain season, was experiencing the come up which made it the ultimate betrayal of Peter's faith. When Jesus went to the cross. When Jesus said I'm going to the cross Peter said, no. Not you. And the cross interrupted the come up. Now, we experienced the cross in the knowledge that Jesus isn't there anymore. We experienced the cross with the knowledge. That the ultimate destruction can be transformed into the ultimate redemption. We experienced the cross that way. But for the disciples, the cross was shaped. Like a question mark. Did we waste our lives? Did we throw our careers away? Should I have listened to my mom and not followed, this Carpenter's son, all through the Galilean region? So I think before we rush to the part where he got up, that's the Easter part. I can make everybody in the room clap real quick. High 5, three people and say he got up. He got up. He got up. He got up. What you won't see while they're high fiving you? Is to let down. That they push down. And that's why yesterday was hard for me because I was imagining us together. And I knew you were going to wear your best button down shirt. 'cause mom came to church with you today, and you don't tell her you normally come to elevation church in a tank top..

They're joining us today from Guyana, Jamaica, South Africa, Philippines, India, Georgia, Indonesia, Virginia. No, that's her name. Virginia from California. That was confusing. Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey. Hey, we're coming to New Jersey. You got to come to New Jersey. Elevation nights is 5 weeks away. Listen everywhere we're coming. I already told you this, but so they can know my oldest son came to me the other day. He said, I found this guy, dad, on YouTube, named Dave Ramsey. He thought he discovered Dave Ramsey. No, no, but he had been watching him and he was like, I'm gonna do this all this stuff on the budget. Why didn't you teach me all this then? I said, I thought you all this this is what I do. And I was like, I actually know Dave. And he was like, really? I'm like, yeah, I'm kinda cool. I.

"Through anything together. If we don't stop knocking it. Some things you need to sleep through other things you need to act on. Some things you need to pray about other things you need to act on. Now what if the lord is my final question? I really could preach all day because I get excited. I didn't hear much enthusiasm about that. Wrap it up pastor, heard there's pizza out there somewhere. And. Yet, maybe when I finished preaching today, you could take a moment in between all the knocking that you've been doing. All the changes that you need got to make. All the things that you're asking. And you know, maybe you're not even asking God for. I personally think that the church wasn't even asking God to keep Peter alive. I think they were asking that he would give Peter peace, and that's why Peter was sleeping. So my favorite burs y'all has been for years. This is the one that I put in. Remember JJ, when I signed your book, effusions three 20. Is that what I put in your book? He stood in the back. He's the campus faster at Valentine. He stood in the back of a book line at Liberty University where I was speaking because he wanted to say thank you for the ministry of elevation church. He stood there for I don't know how long to everybody was gone and I put ephesians three 20, and he said he was from Toronto, GTA, and I took that as greater things ahead, GTA, 'cause I'm corny. I'm corny. And I put GTA greater things ahead of ephesians three 20. Now one to him, who is able to do. Immeasurably more than we ask. All right, let he who has ears, she who has ears to hear, hear what I'm about to say next. Exceedingly more. Is at the door..

"I'm telling you, we did a praise party like it was New Year's Eve at elevation church. Come on clap if you believe in that this year you'll have greater faith. I wrote a book years ago called faith forward future. Because you have to have faith to move forward into your future. The enemy wants you to get stuck, what are you doing here? The enemies like, I'll tell you what they're doing here. They've got setbacks. They've got disappointment. They've got destructive thinking, but praise be to God that is the lifter of my head. Praise be to God that says, no, fix your eyes on Jesus. The author and the finisher of your faith, come on, I'm believing that this year, you go to new levels of belief, new levels of trust and new levels of confidence in our God. Oh, let me just show you one more scripture. Look at this is my prayer for you. Jeremiah, look at Jeremiah 32 17. Ah, sovereign lord. You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. All lord God, nothing is too hard for you. You gotta just come into this year going. Oh, lord God. Put some on it. Ah, lord God. Nothing is too hard for you. Nothing. He shuts the mouth of lions. He feeds the 5000 plus the women and the children. He allows us to walk on dry ground while the sea is split into. He provides a pillar of cloud and a fire by night. He gives us fresh Manet in the day. Anybody believe that our lord God? Nothing is too difficult for you. No, I'm telling you whatever you're coming up against. It ain't bigger than God. And.

"An amazing time of year because every year we end with appreciation for what God is done, expectation for what he's going to do. This has been a tradition like right now they're gonna put up a few graphics of all the offerings we've had through the years. I can't even remember them all. Game changer waymaker. Will you be on? But this year, you don't even know the word that God gave me. I don't. This is not stage. Yeah, this is not scripted, and we're doing our own camera work. So I apologize if the angle is off. But this year, the lord led me to the word better. Everybody say better. Better. I love it. Put it in the chat. And we don't mean better than another person or we don't necessarily mean that, you know, we're never content what we mean by that is, haggy, two 9 says that the glory of this present house what God is doing will be greater than the glory of the former house. We believe God is always doing something great or we just have to see it. So I want to thank you in advance for your gifts. Those of you who already support this ministry. You're the reason you're the reason we get to preach the gospel. You're the reason that thousands of testimonies that we hear in this ministry are made possible. And for those of you who are beginning to give either through a one time yearend, donation to help us with our expansion or the best way really through recurring giving through putting God first with the tide or maybe an above and beyond offering to say thank you to him and believe him. For better things and faith, we want to say, thank you. And we're standing with you right now as we begin this season of giving called better now through the end of the year. Yeah, thank you so much. Every time you give, it helps us to spread the gospel to the world and beyond and we are so thankful for your partnership with us in the gospel. It's gonna be an amazing holiday season and I can't wait to hear more about better. It's gonna be better, better than you ask her imagine if he's just three 20, we're believing God for you. Now let's go. Well, thank you for being here with us at elevation church. I mean, what a year that it has been. We're so thankful that you decided to be a part today that you've been worshiping with us. I know the room looks a little bit different right now. Because we wanted to get together and just talk about some of our favorite moments from the year. My name is Chad zolo. I'm the online pastor. I'm here with some friends. That's right, I'm calling two news. I'm on the programming team. My name is Chad. I'm the passionate university city campus. And I'm brittnay I can tell I'm a egrets pastor. And like I said, we're just thankful that you're here and a part of elevation church and as we look back and think about all that God has done this year. I think about messages, I think about significant moments that we've had okay, so I think about the beginning of the year back to when passwords beta blessings at the beginning of the year and he talked about boat sinking blessings. That was a good one. In your life, we talked about being built different and sometimes we use that time lapse testimony and these are like, isn't it like you hear some of these? You're like, wait, was that this year? There's unreal that they were all serious. Reaching kept in the dark. I've ever. Like ever. Or, yes, you. Yes, you. Yes. Yes. Okay, in the chat, let us know what your favorite sermon was this year. Or maybe it was your favorite moment, Holly with, I don't think I'm ready for this and pastor wrapped up the captain dark, these phenomenal messages. But yeah, let us know, because there were so many moments that probably marked very specific times for you. That's right. When you hear some of these messages or you think back and think, man, that was a big moment in my life when that reminded me that God had everything in control or man, that's when this happened. Who remembers copy that? Do you remember when pastor brought Graham up on stage? Yes. I do, because I was weeping. I was like, hurting control is like stop crying. The moment. It was a mom. Green light at the Red Sea. Or this one, the God not? I think that one, I think it might be my favorite. I'm doing that. Okay, the last message for the pastor Steven preached this year. I think you've probably been doing this when pastor did this. Everybody do this..

"And the dead in Christ will be raised first. And when that happens, that's the Bruce buffer. Come on. That's Bruce buffer. Say, I know you already know what happened. It happened on the third day after calvary. That the son of God. The king of kings, the lord of lords, the lover of humanity. Though bright in the morning star, the water will retain God with him on, who became flesh and made his dwelling among us. He was on that old rugged cross and everyone thought he was down, but on the third day he got up out of that crate and when he caught up out of that craze, he defeated death. Hell and the crepe and the pebble and every single thing that has been broken or will be broken. It's now time to hate his mighty and not just name victory now and forever. So this is why he says, watch this, watch us watch this. That's why he says, this is why he said the first 54 when the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable. Man. And the mortal with immortality, then the saying that it's written will come true. Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where old death is your victory. Where old death is your thing. The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law, but thanks, be the cod he gives us the victory through our lord. Jesus Christ. Can you clap your hands elevation, jerk? Come on, can you pop your hands elevation church? Can you cop your hands? And say, thank you, God. For the victory. No thank him. For the victory. I gotta be quiet. I gotta be quiet. But look at this. Look at this, and I'm done. I'm done. All right, I'm gonna pray for you. I'm about to be done. Therefore, therefore, my dear brothers and sisters. Stand firm. Stand firm. Stand firm. Stand firm. Let nothing move you. Let nothing move you. Letting up, I speak this into your heart. I speak this into your spiritual backbone.

"Of y'all still aren't believing me. You're still not believing me. But what I know, is that if the enemy can distort our view of then, he can distort the truth of now. If the enemy can distort our view of what happened then, then he can distort So if you are thinking, my prayer wasn't answered, so God must not be all powerful. We had the funeral and we prayed that they wouldn't die. Maybe God does not work. I asked for forgiveness, but I'm still feeling shame. Maybe what Jesus did is not for me. What ends up happening with all of us at different times is we can start second guessing. What happened back then? It just felt a little bit of an assignment. To open our eyes back up because COVID is trying to mess with us. Man, I know we got some folks in Florida and COVID's not down there, you know at all. God bless you. Rolled right through it. "Strong. Now i wanna preach about vir- seven therefore in order to keep me from becoming conceited. I was given a thorn in my flesh. A messenger of satan to torment me. We're going to call this message. The mentor you didn't ask for the mentor. You didn't ask for holy spirit and minister your word in jesus name amen. They see the mentor. You didn't ask for how long argument with some family members recently. Not that's argument wasn't contentious. Does i probably stated my position to strongly. Now that i look back on it. We were talking about people who had influenced our life for christ and somebody said the word mentor. I don't even know if that's a buzzword anymore. A big buzzword when i was starting elevation church mentor. Who's your mentor. You need a mentor in the ministry and is still obviously a corporate america term culturally. I don't know so much anymore. It's been replaced by influencers. And i don't know if we talk in the language of mentor. But i made a statement to my family who attend our greenville campus. Holly's sister and husband in dad mom and i said i don't believe in mentors anymore and everybody said no. That's extreme and it probably was looking back at probably was extreme. But you have to understand. I've just had some weird experiences with weird people. So i'm probably coming from that standpoint of the idea of mentor. You know if if it was paul. I could get it because paul was a master builder. He called himself that now. You see why. God had to give him a thorn to keep him humble. He called himself a master builder. But everybody is not mr biaggi and in certain moments of my life. I've been i guess. I little bit resistance to people who have a lot of expertise without much. Experience seems to be the day we're living in. There is no shortage of unsolicited opinions. And even one time when the church was first getting going. We need the building to me. And i went to meet with a guy i can remember the room. I don't remember his name. I remember the room. And i remember something so weird that happened and this probably why. I don't really like the term mentor that much because i was talking about you. We need some resources and we need. Can we use your building to meet on when you're not using it and things like that and the guy took it a little too far. He said son. You hear me for a building and little bit of money for your budget but seems like to me. What you really need is a.

"Start a watch party. Go to your local church. You know if you have to watch alone. It's better than nothing and we're always going to be here for you. Maybe you can invite someone to watch at the same time as you because we have got to get back to a place where we look people in the is you feel like something's missing in your life might suggest that it is your connection your peace and your joy are directly connected to the people the you align yourself with in this season of your life so we started our time together in john. Chapter twenty and the disciples are together afraid for their lives. And then we get to acts chapter one. Jesus is giving them his last instructions. He tells them wait for the holy spirit. Who's going to come. And he's going to empower you and you're going to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. And then jesus ascends to heaven and so the bible tells us that they returned to jerusalem to gather together once again. Many people believe that it's the same room where with jesus just days before while they're waiting. How many of you know. Sometimes we have the wait while they're waiting together. They decide to do the next thing that they think they should do. So led by peter they take vote the first church they take a vote to replace judas and then look what happens in acts chapter two. When the day of pentecost came they were where all together in one place and suddenly a sound like a blowing. Violent wind came in heaven from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting and they saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the holy spirit began to speak in tongues as the spirit enabled them when they were all together. The spirit came. It's time for you to come back together. This fall our message to those of you who call elevation church. Your home is very simple. We want you to join us for church and be a part of an e group where you can be together with people who are on the same faith journey as you and all we want you to do is discuss the things that god is teaching you hear each week and so today. We have an opportunity for you wherever you are. However you're watching. I want you to join an e-group okay. At elevation we have created the most amazing community of people who gathered together on a regular basis. Listen to this we have over thirteen thousand people who already regularly attend an eager whether on person or in person or online thirteen thousand people. Okay in fact. This is incredible. We have groups that meet across fifteen different time zones and in eleven different languages which goes to show you. You don't have to be in charlotte where we started in charlotte but our walls of this church have gone far beyond the city of charlotte. And i promise you. Thirteen thousand people are already doing it. Which by the way good job. You're already doing it. Maybe invite someone to join your group. I promise you we're not gonna bike. Raby gonna make you do homework. We're simply white you to join a group where you can discuss the things that got us teaching you each week so just a second at one of our locations when you walked in you were given a car. Think of got one. "This is stephen fertig on the pastor of elevation church. And this is our podcast. I wanted to thank you for joining us today. This inspires you opened builds. your fate. Hope it gives you perspective to see. God is moving in your life. Enjoy the message. Stay standing stay standing. I want to share with you today. A story in mark chapter nine mark chapter nine fourteen through twenty nine. And let's don't let the dramatic nature of this bible story. Make us think that it doesn't apply to us because the story i'm going to read you. It's it's very extreme and there are people here who have extreme situations that you're dealing with and joining us who have extreme situations but even if the situation that you're dealing with in your life today in the neat that you have isn't isn't this dramatic or doesn't fit this particular description of this picture. I believe the dynamics of what god wants to teach us apply to every person in the room of every age. So with that in your mind. Listen as i read. This account description says mark chapter nine verse fourteen. When they came to the other disciples they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them as soon as all the people saw jesus they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him. What are you arguing with them about. He asked men in the crowd. Answer teacher. I brought you my son who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech whenever it seizes him. Whenever it sees him it throws him to the ground he foams at the mouth mashes his teeth and becomes rijn. I ask your disciples to drive out the spirit but they could not and listened to jesus how frustrated he sounds unbelieving generation. Jesus replied how long shall i stay with you. How long shall i put up with you. Bring the boy to me. Bring him to me. I hear the lord say that today to somebody bring him to me now. Let's keep reading. So they brought him. And when the spirit saw jesus immediately through the boy into a convulsion he fell to the ground and rolled around foaming at the mouth. And jesus asked the boy's father. How long has he been like this from childhood. He answer it has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything. Take pity on us and help us. If you can said of felt like that you'd like that to everything is possible for one who believe immediately. The boy's father explained i do believe helped me overcome my unbeliev. When jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene he rebuked the impure spirit. You deaf and mute spirit. He said i command you. Come out of him and never enter him again and the spirit shrieked convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse. That many said he's dead. But jesus many said he's dead. But jesus many said that's it but jesus said it's over but masters shot in the service. But jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet and he stood up. Now this is the part i wanna preach about. After jesus had gone indoors. His disciples him privately kind of embarrassed about the way things went down just experienced a terrible failure and got called out in front of the son of god. They asked him. Why couldn't we drive. And here's why. I twenty nine this kind income out only by prayer. Why couldn't we dry out. This kind in only come out by prayer and i want to give you this message today. You are not your remember. Any meany miny moe my momma told.

Water Walking 101

"Water walk in one oh one. And might put in a seventh for extra credit if God blesses us with the time. But I noticed that a lot of times when we get in a situation like these disciples were in. Maybe like you're in right now with your job or maybe like you're in right now trying to figure out what to do with your family. Those kids your quiver is full right now. How many quiver is full and you quiver is. To be quite honest, your quiver is quivering. Though Bible humor quickly. and. When we find ourselves in these situations, there is a tendency to blame you know the disciples like the fight. And liked to argue with one another any chance they got. But yet the storm brought them together in a unique way in Matthew Chapter. Fourteen. Trial sometimes tighten our focus. And so one thing we don't see in this storm is Peter John Going back and forth there Andrew and Bartholomew talking about who's rowing the hardest? They just need to make it through the storm. But what really got my attention was a detailed that I must have skimmed over like I mentioned in today since we're in class I, want to study a little more deeply. Is that blame doesn't get you through a storm. And the detail I noticed in Verse Twenty to present on the screen for me. Again, it said that Jesus made the disciples get into the bowl. Jesus made the disciples get into the boat. You're not people say the devil made me do it. Jesus made the disciples get into the boat. He didn't ask them. He didn't recommend. He didn't suggest, and now would be one thing if he didn't know but he's the son of God with all wisdom. So. How did the one with all wisdom send them into something that threatened their life? I want you to write down point number one in the class and put it in the chat. Certain storms are unavoidable. Just need you to know that certain storms. You know what I mean by storm, right? It's not always physical. Sometimes, there can be an emotional storm. Sometimes there can be a psychological storm. Sometimes. There can be a relational storm. You know these storms we get into sometimes we are so busy trying to figure out how to get out of them. Then, we expend all the energy that we could have spent trying to learn what God wants us to learn through the storm. There's two ways to get through the storm and. As a survivor. And how many know is good. Just celebrate that you're still here. In case, you had a bad week I'm gonNA give you fifteen unscripted seconds. To praise God for the storms that you have survived. You can sit there. This been sunny in your neighborhood. But if you survive some depression. And if you thought were going down but. Give them praise. Survive the storm is a miracle to survive. Abuse is a miracle. To survive in economy that is falling apart but God provided is a miracle. But then God says you you can be a survivor. But then if you want to there are certain people that they decide I'm not just going to be a survivor I'm going to be a student of the store. And I I am learning to learn from the storm. I'm learning to learn from the storm. The thing about it is there are certain things that I can only learn in storms and. The second thing that I want to point out to you and the text is that God's timing. Is designed. To teach you to trust. When Jesus, who made the disciples get into the boat? The Bible says that when he decided to reveal himself to them. was just before dawn. If the goal that God has is the comfort us. Then this is a this is a late appearance. But if God's goal is sometimes to change us then it makes sense that he

"Acts Chapter One. Is really cool and really confusing not for us, but. Certainly would have been for the disciples on one occasion while Jesus was eating with. X One verse four by the way I should have said that sorry acts chapter one verse four in IV, twenty eleven. On one occasion while he was eating with them. He I'm sorry I can't skip over that phrase, but I didn't plan on one occasion. Not a special occasion. Just, just any old Sunday morning. Any old Monday afternoon. You know on one occasion. He would give them the instructions that would really explained to them his kingdom in a way they'd never seen. Any David the greatest promise of the greatest gift that they would ever. That they would ever know. Okay on one occasion. We'll have to go a little faster than this if we're going to get through it on one occasion while he was eating with them. This is Jesus eating with his disciples. He gave them this command. Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift. Wait for the gift. My father promised what you've heard me. Speak About for John Baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit in a few days you will receive the greatest gift, and it's not gonna come in the form of a car. Or House or bonus or something like that? It's going to be the Holy Spirit the greatest come from within. Waiting on an amen. Waiting on the name, and like they were waiting on the Holy Spirit. But then this this, this is the part I want us to jump from today and we have. We have a lot of ground to cover, but from here then they gathered around him and asked him. Here's what they wanted to know. He's speaking about the gift that he wants to give them the holy. Spirit he's already died on the cross risen from the dead. He's about to send to have, but he said I'M GONNA. Give you a gift and you have to wait, and then they gathered around. The Nasscom Lord argue at this time at this time. Going to restore the kingdom to Israel. At this time. Somebody, say at this time. At this time he said to them it is not for you to know the Times or dates. The father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power. Here's the guarantee you will receive power. When the Holy Spirit comes you, and you'll be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the. Word of the Lord Be. Somebody lift your hands in the chat to say I'm ready to receive them I'm ready to receive both hands both hands. I'm ready to. receive it. Oh, by the way I almost forgot. Shout out to my fifteen year old son Elijah be fertig. The Be stands for beats. He's A. He's a beat maker. A producer do the DASH is youtube and I'm sure he would appreciate a subscribe happy Fifteenth Birthday to my oldest son, the one who changed my name to Daddy. And then change to get the Dad. I'll never forget the day. He dropped the D. y. off the it was a it was a horrifying moment. And just even saying my fifteen year old son. Do you know how? How are cake? That makes my bones field. My knees started hurting I just felt like automatically old when I said I was feeling sprightly, and then all of a sudden, I started feeling saggy. Let's say I have a fifteen year old son, but his birthday was yesterday, and I love him so much, and he's watching right now. He better be if he wants to use his own this week and I'm to quiz on the sermon. He's my number one conversationalist. He's my workout partner. Now he's strong. The be stands for beasts to down there when we're working out together, and we have a good time and I love talking to them about my sermons. He is a great blessing. Blessed. Chris. You didn't say Amen, and you have a couple so I'm worried what's going on at the house. Do you need? Children are a blessing amen. Amen, and when you getting ready to have kids, they give you all kinds of advice. We were talking about the birth of the Church I was talking about the birth of my first born son, but. When when you're having your first one right since you don't know what to expect at all, the experts come out of the woodworks telling you how they raise their kids. They don't tell you that that one. They're telling you how they raised and giving you advice based off of Winter Rehab three times, but they just start telling you all this advice, and they'll tell you. Oh, and they'll tell you perfectly. They will prescribe for you perfectly. Kids our blenders. And like you can put them together and plug them in and. They were telling us with Elijah the whole time. The put him on a schedule. Put Him on a schedule. You WanNa do. You WanNa. Do what we did with our kids. When we were your age, and now our kids are grown, but. What was really helpful for us? Just really helped us establish. Just. And it's very good for the child is good for us. Just put them on a schedule. I and schedule. Elijah was. UNSCHEDULED LEVEL Is that a word on schedule. If. It's not a word it's it needs to be come on. How many agree after the year we've been having I. Don't know how you do this, but if anybody knows webster, and we can get a word added to the dictionary I looked it up before I came out I. Don't know how we're going to spell it but I want to suggest that we get after the year. We've been having I want to add after after being a parent of three kids I want to suggest we get this word in the dictionary as soon as possible unscheduled. Everybody's say it unscheduled able. I I. was unscheduled able. I mean you can set the schedule, but he don't care if he doesn't give a crap about. Your stay does not care for sleeping for eating and my kids still, don't they? Do not check my schedule. Looking at me like your kids do. You. Like. Schedule my children my. You know what else my sermon preparation process is on schedule I. Don't know how to spell it, but that's what it is. I was thinking of a way to explain it to. It's. You know I set aside time to study right, and then I'll just sit there and look at the Bible of five bibles, and spread them out, and none of them make any sense, and then while trying to go do something else, and I got something else going on within the sermon will just come. You know walking through the door like hey, here. I am I. Don't care the a date night. How many movie theaters have we been trying to have a date on a Thursday night? And I'm like I'm sorry big. You have to tell me what happens to Tonya. Harding on the ice skating movie. I gotTA write this down. Real quick because the sermon does a check my

"Are you excited about the word of God today. I believe you I believe you. Let's go to acts chapter one. We are continuing this discussion on kingdom clout kingdom influence influence knowing that God has a purpose and a plan. I mean we get on the same page as him. Amazing things happen and I want to share with you today from from a very pivotal scripture in acts chapter one where we get to see. Jesus Christ transferred the power that he demonstrated physically the on the earth to his apostles for the mission of the Gospel. And this is how it all started people say how did Elevation Church start. Acts Chapter. One gives the back story now. We're going way back way before we went to golden corral and shelby and decided to move to Charlotte but this is how really started acts chapter one verse one in in my former book theophilus. I wrote baby name available. Theophilus wrote about all that Jesus began to do into teach Until the day he was taken up to Heaven after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. Can I point out two words to you from that verse. This is not my key verse but I would like to point out the word began and I would like to point out the word chosen. They're they're both in verse one. If you could put that on the screen one more time in verse one it says began in verse. Two it says chosen and a like the word began because we tend to think that when Jesus left the Earth has ministry stopped. Not so luke. Who wrote a Gospel Account that bears? His name said that when Jesus was on on the earth that was only the beginning that his greatest ministry started after he left and so a lot of times in our life we think we are are coming to an end but it is really beginning a lot of times. We believe the lie that will you know. I'm not in my thirties anymore. So I guess I just can't no it's not an end. It's a beginning and a lot of times if we go through a traumatic life event whether our kids leave the house which I don't know if best dramatic that could be celebratory in some cases kidding but but you know even if this something horrible that happens a lot of times what we see is an end is the beginning winning and so we'll understand that more fully. I just wanted to point it out to you that you might be standing at what you were calling an ending. That is really a new beginning and that would depend on your a perspective. y'All slowdown because I got to preach nine verses. And that's just one of them. The second word is chosen and what strikes likes me about that word. I really love that word. It's our word for the year how our church picked words to focus on twenty twenty holly and I pick the word chosen and and it's not just the word itself which I love but it is. The timing at which this word is used that encourages me. Because you have to remember this is after all of the disciples save. John have left Jesus as he died on the Cross and kind of let him down in his moment of me. And so it doesn't just say they were chosen at the beginning of his ministry. But even after he saw all them stumble and saw them falter and solve them hesitate and even after they made the mistake of believing what there I saw rather than what their spirits new even after that they were still chosen. And I need you to look right in the pupils of the person next to you and Stare Stare Adam and say you're still chosen. You didn't do it. You mumbled it. You gotta say it with some force now when the devil talks to you he talks to you. You know with some force but but come on out loud the devil and say you're.
