Indiana Permitless Carry Law Saved Lives

"Four months ago Indiana governor Eric holcomb signed a bill to allow carrying a handgun in public without a permit. Mister holcomb said the legislation which took effect July 1st, entrusts hoosiers, who can lawfully carry a handgun to responsibly do so within our state. One of those hoosiers appears to have been mister dicken. We could not find that he had a permit, mister eisen said. The police chief. He was carrying legally under the constitutional carry law. The law went into effect July 1st, enabling him to carry without a permit. And he saved may be dozens of lives.

Greenwood Police Chief: The Real Hero Was Citizen Who Shot the Suspect

"Once again, the Second Amendment prevails. Once again, Americans are reminded of the obvious solution to mass shootings. In public places, and here is a textbook example. It's worth playing again. Let me play it again. Here's the Greenwood police chief James eisen talking to reporters after a would be mass shooter is taken out by a good guy with a gun. Listen to this. Elio's reporting, self reporting from home when they heard about it. I am PD S.W.A.T. team members were here just as quick as ours were. It was a very, very fast response, but I'm going to tell you the real hero of the day is the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began. What can you tell us about him? If you wanted to let us name that'd be great, but I can tell you that he's a 22 year old male from Bartholomew county. And that is all that I can release.

The Conection Between National Security and US Economy

"Last do. question, mister secretary, I know you've been on the road with cav pack dot com, supporting Republicans across the United States. The midterms are four months away. When you do that, when you go out and you talk for Adam laxalt in Nevada or you go stand with Herschel Walker in Georgia, you'll be up there with doctor eisen, Pennsylvania wherever you go. You get a huge crowd. Does anyone care about the national security or is it all just gas and food prices? Because I know the latter are driving daily kitchen table conversations, but we have to keep the country safe and this administration is not doing that. Does that come up in your appearances? Yeah, they're so deeply connected to you and absolutely comes up. Looks understand that when we lose what we had for four years, American energy dominance, the ability to deliver affordable energy to ourselves. That's natural security applications and implications for the ability to afford to drive your kids to their soccer game or to their ballet recital. No, the American people get it. They understand the place they understand the Chinese Communist Party isn't just a foreign problem that they're inside the gates here showing up at PT matings and school board meetings and infiltrating our university systems. Those are those are things that impact their lives every day too. And sometimes we talk about them as if these are these two separate things, right? Foreign policy and the ability to feed your family and pay your rent and afford the energy for your car. They are deeply connected. The American people get it and they know that President Biden is not delivered on either front.

"When your turn, your turn, if you're doing it right, is you're turning, and then you're replacing that left hip with your right hip as the way through. Your right hip should really be pointing at the target eventually where you're going to. Absolutely. And so that's why it's a frustrating game for me because I will never perfect it no matter how good I get. And that's why I keep coming back to it. And so Joey's put together a really great event for a really great cause. And I was really excited to get the call this year to be a part of it. Again, if you need someone on your back, I mean, I'm available. We already know that this is the deal. You and I have made this deal. We're putting this out. We made this deal. Now peacock, peacock has the tie, right? NBC sports. NBC puts on the American century championship in Tahoe. Every year. Every year. And my agents have been in conversations with it, and I know you're supposed to not try to solicit an invite. But according to we've been trying for years and I'm telling you right now, American century, I could win the thing. And if I do, if I do get to go, if I've ever asked to go, that guy right over there, he's on the back. He knows my game pretty well. I know your game really well. Yeah. And so amazing to see the bond you two have created. Total bromance. Yeah. But it is. Awesome. Golf. I mean, we're trying to get you guys to play for years. It's a lot of fun. Just saying. I need to talk to rich. About the NFL Draft, of course. But I also need to talk about his golf because I want to join the club that he's in. That's what I want to do. Don't we all? All right, when we come back, our namesake rich eyes and joins us from Las Vegas when we come back here on the rich eisen show. Welcome back, everybody that rich eisen show we've had a heck of a show and we're not even close to being finished, right? We got our main man rich eyes and coming up in just one second. Then at 11 or in the top of the third hour, Ben gulliver, Washington Post NBA writer, and then at the midway point of the final hour here of hour number three, a friend of the show, Kevin Connolly is going to join it. But let's welcome in our namesake here at the rich eisen show, mister rich eisen live from Las Vegas. Hey rich, how we doing? How are you, sir? I'm doing really well. I've had a fun show so far. I really have. Oh, he was wonderful. It was wonderful. We got to talk a lot of things, and I appreciate you this morning. You've been a mentor of mine and I just wanted some insight on how to go to about interview and some of these great players and stuff and you were really helpful. So thank you for that. Thanks for doing what you've been doing. I wish you still drunk after the jets draft last night. Oh my God, come on, man. I am drunk. We can't live in a world where the jets are competent. How would you have liked if you were like, let's just say you're some dude from Quincy, right? You save up all your time and your efforts to pop a flight from Logan to mccarran. The home of where Serrano once famously took the discs. check in your hotel. You're just all fired up. Patriots 21. They're going to pick fired up. You go to that draft hall, you drink all day, like 8 o'clock at night, kind of tired, find out bills, trade down a 29, then they go ahead after all this time, a whole long trip for Quincy all the way to the hotel year in Las Vegas, all the way through to 29. It's some guy from Chattanooga you got a Google to find out who he is. It's just, you know, there was some dude in Amendola Jersey. We shot that show. Network last night is just like looking around, like, okay. Once again, infill we trust could have just stayed at home. Stayed at home. Played a little bit, played a little bit of the scratch off winners and kept their coming here and putting their money down on a table, you know? To save the time. But if you're a Jets fan, you're glad you didn't stay home. Wow. Oh my God, it's like the greatest weekend ever. Like you should go and you should just bet everything. About everything. Go see what the odds are right now. Since you're in Vegas, the jets winning the AFC next year. What is it? Oh, I wouldn't do that. No, they're safe for pets. No. But hey, I wouldn't do that. Come on. You got to feel that way. You got Jermaine, you got Jermaine Johnson at what? You got him at 26. You just take 20 and put it down on your favorite jet number. 12. For name it, you know? Go ahead. That's what I would do if I, you know, had the ability to do that as an NFL employee, we're just staring at the food menus around here. So, but that was what was the biggest shock for you last night on the coverage. You're on air, breaking news happens. Was it the Marquise Brown? Oh, no. The AJ Brown. Yeah. I mean, you know, Brock when you posted it right away. Yeah..

"Here on the rich eisen show, we'll be right back. Welcome back to the rich eyes and show Ryan leaf here filling in for rich alongside TJ Jefferson. Michael tufo. Chris brockman, they have been exceptional with their picks so far. In fact, so good that I had to give mister dill two a little needling there during the break because he stole my chargers pick with Jordan Davis to the eagles at 15. All right, quick recap. Of the last, what is the last 6 picks, right? At 11, Washington selects Chris a lave at 12. Jermaine Johnson to the Minnesota Vikings at 13, the Houston Texans go with Kyle Hamilton at a Notre-Dame. At 14, the Baltimore Ravens Trent mcduffie cornerback, Washington, 15. The eagle select Jordan Davis defensive tackle out of Georgia and at 16 value here offensive tackle Trevor penning out of northern Iowa. We are now at my beloved chargers. Pick is in and this is just practice. This is just practice because I'm sure the Chargers in the next year or two will have me come to the draft and do one of the rounds, like the third or fourth round pick, right? I assume that's in the making with the love fest, the bromance that is come to be with the spanos family and finally once again. I can't wait for the opportunity and look forward to it. At 17, the Los Angeles chargers in the 2022 NFL Draft select devonte Wyatt defensive tackle out of Georgia. That is now three defensive linemen from the university of Georgia selected in the first 17 picks. That is a heck of a run right there. All right. At 18, the Philadelphia Eagles with a trade swap from the New Orleans Saints. I don't want to pick for the eagles, so I'm going to pass this is going. This is going to Michael del tufo because we know that you'll pick mister irrelevant at number 18. Bobby Boucher for the eagles if I could. At number 18, the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2022 NFL Draft select cornerback from Washington Trent mcduffie. Now we know you're not paying attention paying attention. Just pick that. I drafted them already. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. All right, so I have to go to my I'm writing down all the picks. But.

"If you are, in fact, drafted by any team other than the jets before the jets choose. With the third pick. Would it be a problem if I came up and made sure the commissioner did not hand you that Jersey? That's what you were thinking about doing. The rich eisen show. With guest host, Ryan leaf earlier on the show. Minnesota football head coach, PJ black. Coming up. Pro football Hall of Famer. Kurt Warner, from pro football focus, Trevor sycamore and now sitting in for rich. It's Ryan Lee. Welcome back everybody to the rich eisen show, Ryan leaf here, filling in for rich, who we should have shortly efforting to get the main man in Las Vegas. Alongside TJ Jefferson. No, what up? Michael del tuo? Hey. Chris brockman. Hey, hey. I'm Ryan leaf. Let's go. I am hosting this show today. Again, I don't know about you guys, but when I was told I was going to host these shows, I put into the talent bookers to try for Will Ferrell again because I don't know if you guys are watching some of the Twitter feed, but everybody continues to think that at its Will Ferrell hosting the show. I don't believe I sound like him. But people clearly close their eyes and they can hear what was the last tweet I just saw a young Will Ferrell trying to be a straight laced sportscaster. Yeah, I don't hear it. I don't hear it either. I don't hear. Maybe because we're too close. Now maybe if I try to try to be Ron burgundy and start doing the whole thing like that. You got to go higher for that. Well, that's if there's a question mark on the teleprompter. I dressed up as Ron burgundy for the Halloween show for PAC 12 network and that's one of the lines I used. I looked at I looked at our co host, I said, I love scotch. The Batman. Milk was a bad choice. We got rich. Yeah. We didn't get to give him the white glove. There we go. Did you give him the white glove treatment? Brian's very excited. Welcome to the show. The host of this show. And rich, I want to ask you a question first up, did Mike give you the treatment today to let you know that I was very excited to speak with you? Yes. Okay, good. That happened. I think we're going to have a much better segment today now because of it. I think so too. I think so too. You got to drink some intercept intercept wine last night, eat with Charles Woodson. I mean, tell us about your evening before the draft. How's your hangover? There's no hangover. Oh, you're a pro. I'm sorry. I'm a pro, my voice is intact. For tonight. Oh, you know, thank you. "All right everybody, what's up? What's cracking? It's the rich eisen show basketball podcast where day wait, sorry about that, but we are back. And guess who else is back? I don't know if you saw the video TJ, you know, in the NFL arrival videos have become kind of a thing. They've been they've been taken after the NBA of dudes rolling up into the arena. We gotta see the fits. We gotta see the threads, the shoes, Joe burrow had that zebra Tiger stripe thing at the Super Bowl that was amazing. My God, it was incredible. So during the show today, the big show I happened to look down and I saw the Ben Simmons showed up in Philadelphia. And he was wearing just workout clothes. Shorts, T-shirt. I mean, he's not playing tonight, but Ben Simmons, TJ, is back. He's back in the building and fool a Delphi. Let's go. Oh my goodness, gigantic game tonight. Nets, sixers, everyone is playing except Ben Simmons Kyrie off a 50 burger. Kevin Durant said he doesn't care about your part ways after some dude tweeted him that he cost him some big money because he only had like 18 the other night. James Harden has been unbelievable in his sixers, tenure thus far. Joel embiid is still your MVP favorite TJ thoughts heading into tonight's monster matchup. Well, this is an interesting way to start to show normally we do an intro. So I was like, wait, no, I'm just going right into it. Hey, you know, rich on the big show today with saying something that completely and totally blew my mind. Rich eisen, who's been involved in sports for the better part of the last 25 years, correct? Such a long time. Was actually shocked and could not believe that fans of a team would come to a game. For this sole purpose, just too heckle, a former player, and I'm sitting here in my seat as I tend to do, and I'm looking at rich and I'm like, all right, when's the coming around, just playing with that psych. And no, he was dead serious. And I'm like rich. Have you just started watching sports? Have you just met people? Have you never been on social media? This is all what people do. They heckle, they taught trash. And they post stuff and especially in Philadelphia where Ben Simmons is coming back after the way he departed the town after the way he departed the city after the way he departed the team. Now he's making his return and you think that the kind people of Philadelphia aren't going to express themselves. Mostly in a negative fashion and manner, I admit, but you think they're not going to express themselves loudly tonight. Come on now, stop it. You would think rich being an east coast guy would understand the Philadelphia fans or some of the most angry vindictive bitter people in the planet, but Adam, apparently during the show, rich said the new fans don't like that Santa Claus talking. Well, that's fine, you know what? They don't like it. Then you shouldn't have done it. Right. They don't own it. Everyone knows about the jail and the spectrum. Angry people. I went to Penn State for school. Some of the worst fans in the world are Philadelphia fans. I'm sorry to say they're passionate, but they are so angry and so frustrating to deal with. And they're going to go crazy tonight. But that's a fan to make us in Boston. Just look like you're pleasant next door. Well, don't get crazy now. The easy babies. But I will say this and I won't say it too loud. Everyone I do know from Philly can fight. So there's that. So, you know, I'm just saying, I don't know many people from Philly that can't throw them dogs from the shoulders, so I'm going to say this from behind this mic and not to nobody's face. And think about the boiling anger these fans have had the last year about Ben Simmons. Think about the rage that is inside of their systems and they're waiting to unleash that tonight on him. And it is going to be awesome to watch. I can not wait. You know what also is amazing too, and I don't know if it was previously scheduled this way. But if the NBA in any way manipulated the schedule, there are only two games tonight in the association on Thursday. It's net sixers at four 30. It's warriors nuggets at 7. Just a straight up old school TNT. Remember back in the day, TNT used to always have the double header on Thursday. They still have it. But those used to be the only two games of the night. Now, you know, Thursday's confidant off day for most teams, but there's generally four or 5 games on the slate. Uh uh. I really hope that they saw this. The trade went down and they went, let's move some things around here. Let's slide this over there. Net sixers, national TV audience. Sorry, four 30 Pacific. 7 30 eastern let's go. I'm hoping that TNC decides to do a Ben Simmons cam, where there's a camera only on Ben Simmons the entire game. And I want to see the people behind him and what they're doing because there might be a cheesesteak thrown at him who knows what'll happen. It is going to be awesome tonight to watch. Yeah, we discussed that during the game, rich was like, do you think there's going to be a Ben Simmons can? I'm like, absolutely..

"To hear. Anthony Michael hall. Both of those he's the common denominator in these John Hughes fix actually met him in the club of New York a few years ago. I just said, hey, man, I'm a big fan. He gave me a pound and he looked at me and he said, respect big dog. And I was just like, okay. Johnny be good would probably have been in there. Trying to be good was a good one, yeah. He was a high school quarterback. Played his best friend. He went on recruiting trips. It was out there. Got a junior and weird science. A lot of common denominators in these movies. How about you, brockman? Which one's weird science number one for me there? I thought you said you didn't like weird science. No, no, no. I'm not a 16 candidate. Oh, gotcha. I'm a weird science guy. You had license to drive on your I was a Corey Feldman and Corey Haim. Yeah, I was fan of those. I love those guys. That movie was hilarious. It was hilarious. Basically, I know Chris, you said there was a lot, but there's so many of these movies. The perfect time. Don't forget about adventures and babies. Which I didn't really like, but see I like that one. Our fen Vincent D'Onofrio is Thor in the movie. It's a great movie, but yeah. Elisabeth Shue. Elizabeth shoe, obviously one of our favorites. So yeah, you could do, you could do a top probably, you could probably do a 64 March Madness. Let's think about that for later. You talked about William Zabka. It always playing that character. In my podcast, in my podcast bust, we delved into my persona while in high school. And we kind of came away and then ultimately in college where I would, I think I was just a quintessential Johnny Lawrence character. I think that's who I was and I was just going to be it, right? I walked into your frat party, and I said, we're here to drink your beer. Take your girls and go home. That's what we were there to do. And so I was kind of, I was kind of still to this day, and I loved me to death. Don't get me wrong, but she says, I am 80s through and through she says, glasses, the way I dress the way I think she's like, you are so 80s. And I will take, I'm going to take that as a compliment. Yeah, definitely a compliment. It's a good decade. It's a very good decade to be a part of, and I'm glad I was. Great, grab bag. I love movies. You know? Anthony Michael hall, in Batman, The Dark Knight. A lot of people don't remember that. He played the reporter. He gets taken by the Joker, a part of that huge reveal at the end of the movie. He's definitely one of my all time favorite. Especially from that time actors. Huge fan of his. Yeah. The brat pack, right? The original brat pack? And also, weird science has so many classics. Like, you know, they go, first of all, Lisa meeting Gary's parents and her dad trying to size up why this woman is with his son. And then when they go to the club in Chicago and he gets all drunk and he's trying to tell the story and he's like, what do I talk about on the telephone? Of course we know it's on the telephone and then he don't even have his license lethal, you know, just, I mean, I can watch weird science every day,.

Cowboys Defensive End DeMarcus Lawrence Will Miss 6-8 Weeks With Broken Foot

"Going on with the cowboys. Upfront what can you tell me about. Tank lawrence randy gregory. Big game for the cowboys here in los angeles against the chargers. What do you know about that. Yeah so i. I think like the you know demarcus lawrence obviously. That's a really unfortunate break for them. And he's had injuries in the past. And i i don't know if i'd relates that because there's a foot thing and it's sort of a free thing but he's going to be gone for two months and that like to me. I just sort of looking at how patchwork they've been and they'll get gregory back but like like you know with randy gregory and then over the years taking swings on different guys like alden smith and and and and You know and and if you want to go further back hardy And how they've just sort of continuous roll the dice try and get those positions right And lawrence was the one that they really hit on and now he's out for two months and you know. I think the cowboys defensively did a lot of things well in the opener but the fact is such a big part of the way that defense worked and i worked and i think dan coins a fantastic defensive coordinator but a big part of how the defense works seattle type of defense works is. Can you get heat on the pass or can you come from multiple angles quarterback and lawrence is one of those guys when he's at his best. He changes the math for everybody else. He's gonna change the matchups. He's going to get more guys singled up or guys are going to be favourable spa favorable spot because of him. So now you take them out of the equation and i think it's a big big loss for the cowboys.

He got upset because there was a story out in the twitter verse today from i guess at the nba central that the reason why simmons is leaving is because there is such a terrible rift between him and embiid that the sixers reportedly pick between the two. We all know mb got the big fat contract. And now simmons is being shown the door and usa. Today is reporting that that's part of the reason and he was very upset about that re tweeted out about how he loves playing with ben stats. Don't lie he's an amazing player. We all didn't get the job done. It's on me personally. I hope everyone is back because we know we're good enough to win. And then i guess. Embiid kept stewing on a little bit and then Tweet out i haven't forgotten but two years ago. I got booed people in philly wanted me to be traded. I even shush them. Only the real ones didn't. But i just put the work in that season to be better because i knew i wasn't playing up to my potential which is okay then comes the last line philly fans y'all got to be better to.

I've been staring outside of windows. A hotel rooms in three different cities now span of three weeks. Some of them forced by health public health concerns and others. Just you know may just trying to make ends meet so you you tell me i want to answer the question who throws row eight ball in a game. That counts in the standings. i now. Let's definitely going to be jake about that. I've got him in my fantasy league coop by the way came home from camp today. Yeah there there is so coop will get to hispanic team and they'll take a look examples raum on On telling the judge is the name of our fantasy team together. Looks like we're talking about early. September and we all know gac and the cowboys play the first thursday of the season. I'm now i'm now giving you one last chance. Do you think it's really grow. I thought the grom was about a three week thing You're saying timber. What the arms. I don't know rich and like i. I have no idea reached out. They reached out. Apparently the rangers training staff to try. And help them with you know when you're talking lattes or muscles underneath the armpit or whatever. Oh my goodness i mean. I'm on oh. I was just for you. I was scouting benvenuti. Last really both train did have a strong clap with that field. Go though i would say his arms looking pretty good into clap. Who's pretty fired up. Last the railing from riches shot the rest of this show though that she was my man's rich no yes with poll question such football such a passion. You're there right now. Football heaven but it was great to find out yesterday that you also have a deep passion for walking. That was fun to watch you. Call a walk. Have you ever called walking before. What makes walker here. I've never called race walking. I've never called canoeing kayaking. Weightlifting handball. these are all i for me. These were all first. Equestrian Artistic swimming they don't call it synchronized anymore. Oh able tents it's not ping pong. You gotta be careful about this stuff. People get very sensitive So yes it did look like somebody was holding a walnut between their budget. So i actually on television And then later on That was just the. I guess twenty k. Or whatever the twenty. I don't know whether it was a shorter one. They did a long one last night. Did you see that they're not going to happen anymore. Because it's like inhumane. It was incredible last night. I watched the highlight baggage. You did and it changed the stride in my step. This morning i was walking towards the studios with with some maybe some walnuts possession but yeah it was. There's a lot of that was happening. Those athletes are incredible. And i just amazed at the thought process of you wake up one day and you say i wanna be a walker. I won't have to this. You have a higher calling and you're able to honor that greenness in your highlight back. I was very inspired by it. If anybody hasn't seen it it's out there But the race. Walking looks kind of like what mark jackson looked like when he was going back to the locker room on that monday night game. The browns remember that where he was waving at four person who came through the doors. He was trying to get. That's kind of what it looks like the race. Walking just needed some cramping. It's more fluids. He needed is a iv in needed immediately needed. So walk us through the rest of the weekend tonight is is the dinner that you get to. Mci at the civic center and walk through the rest of the weekend and then and then tonight jacket. Tonight's jacket dinner Tomorrow is the Is the first set of speeches and nights. Twelve apparently slated to talk and then nine on sunday. And i'm telling you the the work you know. The word has i saw david. Baker mentioned it on good morning football this week. The plan is to limit these guys to seven minutes and start playing music academy award. How is this going to work. It's not. I mean i mean you you you ask you can answer i. I don't half but you have to put it at least in. The minds is because when we first started doing this that it was in the daytime like starting a new and then when irv went into the hall of fame and his speech began just as the sun was setting. And the you know the network saw how dramatic it was with the lights on. Everybody's like we have right now and then people started talking and those speeches. When you know when barry sanders man. You know a few words got up there and said the most dreaded words in the history of the event. I have no nos Even he started going on twelve fifteen minutes long the year. I emceed it. 'cause berman was pre presenting ralph wilson Presenting speeches were longer than than actual induction speeches. So they got rid of the presenters. Who now are presenting people in the form of like a beautiful three minute. Video made by. Nfl films. I mean they're kind of always trying to cut short but now guys will go in speaking half an hour. That'd be jerry. Jones and far went over forty minutes when they spoke. Kurt warner spoke to like fifteen people because he got up there by an eleven forty five. And i have to do something and i honestly don't know there will be Old school guys up there Who are when. they're waiting. Twenty five years to get in and they're gonna be having music played seven minutes in. They're gonna talk over. You got a play. I'm gonna play off peyton manning doing exactly but you know what i'm saying like surf you're gonna play off like just as an example. You're you're you're gonna play off By cool donnie. Shell right. You play him off tagliabue's by the play off your play adron james off but you won't play you wanna play on tape because he's peyton how going to do but they have to do something. He's twenty one. that's a lot. Well i know that no matter how long charles woodson speeches i will be curled up in the fetal position weeping. I can promise that much. I'll be very emotional to see. Charles woodson getting inducted into the hall. I know i'm with you too. It's going to be you know the thursday night game The on his last night in In oakland was one of my favorites places. Nuts became an on offense and they gave him like an option pass. Like the place would have been in just gone through the roof if he had actually gotten at ball in the end zone on that play and You know i mean he. I was near to sportscenter when he when he won the heisman and then on. Nfl network you know for for all the other incredible moments of his career and then at his final game and now here. I am at his hall of fame induction. It's as wolverine. I will speak on behalf of all maize and blue directly to that match. And i i i look forward that that will hopefully get an opportunity to say that to him. I'm on television rich. How many criminal cracks at ohio state during the jacket. Dinner tonight for you One and a half over under one of the hell. I don't know I don't know How many people are gonna be here. It's going to be totally different. Oh how many. I if it's just if i'm gonna i don't know if it's gonna call for it. There's two reasons why it doesn't call for that tonight. One is that the vibe in the room is just different. Because there's not enough you know Ohioans in the road and two it has been ever since michigan beat ohio. Thanks so much coin in the show. We really appreciate travel. Honestly don't know what's standing hard. Why the standing is is that you have the microphone..

"You see this thread. That ralph fach. Yano had about giants practice today. Greg what is going on over there and like joe. J- judge it's makes these guys run sprints like he's her brooks like. I've never seen anything like it. I am amazed by that. He made them run sprints after an all out on the field and not just a fight. 'cause you know those. Those happened almost all training camps. Some some coaches have it pretty locked down where you really are aren't allowed to do it But that happens but this one supposedly had like twenty people in it and daniel jones. Your quarterback is is at the bottom and then yeah you're punishing them by by running around the field like it's a fine line where whether you're gonna keep your players Engaged with that kind of attitude this joke judge and it looks like a team you know when when that does happen that he doesn't have a so go to the amount of control and that's what he's looking for.

"Sharp with its indicate. He doesn't hit on the field. Which i love it. it's one of the most overrated things we do on our game. Everybody wants to see this extra work on the field all the time. Especially this time of the year. I think that it contributes to getting better. There's always appointed diminishing returns city in and i don't like when guys get on weary. He does that. He doesn't teach those very lightly between starts it's not this elongated It's like when you go to the practice golf. You hit a couple of good shots it just keeps with swing poorly and then you stay there. Another half hour to try to swing better again. He knows what he's doing and he knows what he needs extra this or that and then he does but he has it he cannot handle it better. I'm telling. You cannot handle something better. And i love working with him in regard stalled this and believe me. I'm just i'm falling we from the sheer love of the game perspective joe joe madden from the los angels angels here on the rich eisen show from a sheer love of the game. You like watching him hitting or pitching. So i really enjoyed yet. That's and right now. I mentioned it last night so unusual for. They're gonna come after him hard every time. Obviously it's so unusual a hit or when he gets strike kid. Hey swing almost every time you need that it's full-fledged it is back well to the ballpark swing I mean hit this hard as they possibly can. This is not this. Check swing involvement It's incredible it's it's ability to get off his best laying on a on a pitch that he likes it in beyond that he's taking walks. She's able to shut it down when it's not a good pitch and that's what i'm saying status way. Don't don't give any thoughts right. Not let them just play. He's playing baseball. This was everybody should seek All of us that over think things at times he is. You really need to appreciate what he's doing how it's doing it because that's the way it should be pure joy for the game he's years he said he's a gym rat baseball player and he goes absolutely properly joe. It's the sound off the bat. The ball makes the one two nights ago it just sounded like a cannon no lie i told you what he hits them and they bring it up. We all brought it up. Yeah it was. it's a different sound. it's like an explosion. There's there's a few guys that are able to do that. And he's he's at the top of this. I guess he said more homeless. Four hundred fifty footer. Better this year The other one that said for sixty two which i still think is an artificial. Not i don't i don't care what they say. I mean that they would eventually land was beyond that. It's i. I don't i don't understand this stuff and they tell me it's accurate I don't always believe everything i hear. So it's it's incredible to watch it. It is catch. Yeah the exit velocity to. I mean in all your years in the scored. can you compare that sound to someone else. I mean obviously. Mike has done it over his career as well. But yep i'd be bonds when i saw bonds and griffey Coming up You know if you do that on occasion but Was with those guys on a daily basis. Like shohei it's different. It's different the homeland last night. You know ball a little bit down in a way and he just he literally flipped it and that was a bullet to write. I don't even know what that was off the bat philosophy Every you barrels it up man. It is going to get hit extremely hard number thirty seven last night. Till where's the rally. Monkey is in a cage behind her desk whereas they've been bringing up this little Curry dog at chipmunks starting the yellow the latter innings so. It's almost like a. I think it's a seventh inning kind of stretch. I'm not even sure the reason i remember. We brought the monkey could bear years ago. A lot of these guys stand it. We thought it was so weird awkward and and a lot of times. Just gotta wait for me to become cool. But i don't know the as the monkey. Just hold him back Maybe for the oakland back starts hike but guess other little gig dot going on philly olympic function. The crop yet you know really really was annoyed by the rally. Monkey darin erste. You really was for some reason. It really well. A lot bothered. Darren but really right. I said it not you joe. Great to have you. We it was just an. It's fun to be able to talk to you a little bit. Even just a little bit about two thousand and two. It was lightning in a bottle that six and fourteen start and that was really fun so really enjoying watching you manage now and have fun. I mean how do you not have fun with this guy. Absolutely i agree with you hundred percent. He should regardless of the shohei otani not we. We should all be very grateful for the opportunity to work in the major leagues We make it into life and death in it really. Should it truly be funny games. And that's what we got to really create throughout the entire industry both with the players and the fans watching us and I believe that one hundred percent and you know missy. No that's true buying point. Thanks for having me on today. It's always a pleasure squad to talk to you again. It's been a little bit too. Long will invest pistole rich. I'll pass it along. And joe i haven't seen you since we ha- since the angels the world series in two thousand and two how are you. Thanks for taking the time. Let's do it again right. No kidding you're welcome. It's great to hear you get. It's great to be with you. How many years this now in all with the angels are we at thirty two thirty three This and i i left. I think it was thirty one. So this is my second pullback thirty two thirty three something like that. I signed in seventy five Without a boulder colorado. And then i started in seventy six went through two thousand five left and came back last year so it is home. It feels like home. It's it's really strange. Go to these different spots and come back with the uniform on. It's like you never left and when you talk to some your players about your experience because you've got a couple of other guys you've got jose. Molina who was benji is little brother right. And a couple pitching coaches to who were with you for that. Two thousand and two run. How do you get your guys now. Who were so far removed from that to realize that you've got all these guys that won a title for the angels right there in front of them. Yes they're aware. I mean our guys are aware of everything. These days It's just a they regardless of the coaches have been there or not just a matter of competency and how they interact with the group and right. Now i'm here to tell you a of course. We were missing some really key components but we walk in a locked room. I don't know if it had been in a better one. I've i've been really good ones. I'll be in chicago in tampa bay loved all those guys too but this thing here right now the way we're all coming together So real likes to really create the culture last year You know that mini season. Lotta people for to it at the twenty twenty season. It was just an abbreviated form at that. Time to get your out there and stuff the culture this group is. This group is doing dangerous for this year and your succumb and it really joy to work every day with these guys angels manager joe madden joins us here on the rich eisen show. Suzy shuster in for rich. It's gotta be because of shohei ohtani my favorite baseball player. I need to know what it is like for you. Managing this sensation He's Takes care of everything he he knows what he wants. He knows how to to work about to get his work done to get what he wants. He is an incredible baseball athlete. Where he's able to do things on the fly. Oh great stuff but a nightly basis whether it's on the mound at the place on last night show they're gonna try to bump it then he said no and then he then he smokes a pitch He's he's just a really good baseball player with a high baseball intellect. I just we communicate every day between me him and he pays translator and we talk about yvonne gay conversations but Find out what he's up. How stealing what he thinks he can do on a particular day. And we will with that from there. And i think that's part of the success issues about simply kept. It's a real simple conversation daily and that sets up the next day and he's just unique talent. Obviously that's an understatement. But it's it's all on him and so he he's makes it really easy to work with. What's his interaction like with all the other players then with that language barrier say everybody talks about the language barrier. It's really about there. He's trying real hard and he's able to communicate in english. I just like me. When i tried to communicate in spanish with my guys that i throw my Two years of high school two years of college up there and they understand enough. And i keep trying to learn more and that's what he's doing They giggle he giggles easily. He's compared to laugh your issue lashes system based all the time and a little bit too series. This year is the exact opposite and and the players in the interest so well so the sense of humor's there he the interest in learning which is absolutely there and so the the guys they they they get along greatly and he is a big part of the reason. Why obviously not just on the field but the clubhouse obama's all this really makes it easy. I know how incredibly levelheaded you are but to ever sit back and think about just how lucky you are to be where you are right now to manage this incredibly unique talent grateful for a lot of things i I do believe. "There's somebody on twitter and it could be bob at real underscore. Bob costas then. You read the twitter bio and you begin to think something could be up because it's his former nbc. Sports broadcaster twenty one time emmy award winner eleven time olympic host president and sole member of the bc fc. Bob costas fan club. Doesn't sound like bob so i wanted to make sure that we're all buttoned up and inviting here on the rich eisen show to discuss this. Very subject is none other than the real actual one hundred percent authentic. Bob costas. how are you bob. I'm goodrich late last night. And then again this morning. When i woke up dozens of texts some claiming it must be real some saying this can't be true and one said this is the best indication that helvin frozen over the oh four red stocks or the twenty sixteen cubs. But i'm here to assure you and everybody else that the fires of hell are still very much blazing. Because i am absolutely not on twitter. They've taken the boldest account down and i began thinking you know what. Actually what would i have to do more. I ever gained to be on twitter. What like binge watch the real housewives of orange county can return trip to so she just with a nostalgia of baseball or or just for you for you rich just about make a special trip to the nfl combo happen. Before i'm ever on twitter. Prequel of basketball would be pretty epic cool like you know what i have admit that so docker brothers asked me to do a sequel especially with al michaels at my side bastketball. It must it must be done our public. Okay so this is the real. Bob costas confirmed that now. Twitter needs that. Oh my gosh the things in the world so did you did. You did you Your son tweeted it out that this is not you. I saw the first green. Grab that that keeps sent to me. This one tip off should be look. I'm a reasonably humble self-effacing guy. Change yourself an emmy than al michaels would eat a green vegetable. Bob good point but susie you have just given me insight into what my approach should be going forward for the rest of my career. Just select my greatest hits and let them play an extended version of that rather than me having to come on and try and think of something new to say. Pick like ten best things we ever did. Our lifetime batting averages would be much higher. Here's my question. What haven't you said yet. let's think about that. I mean with the amount of olympics. You've done world series super bowls. What haven't talked about yet. You know. I have a few rants that my my friends like happy reprieve from now and then which i will not do now but one has to do with how much i loathe parades or the the day of the year where have any animus toward the group in question is when they parade down fifth avenue and make it impossible for me to cross the street and everybody else has to go around and around and traffic has to be rerouted and the police have to be have to be employed or sent to police this parade. Meanwhile meanwhile crime runs rampant in gotham city and commissioner gordon. Pick up the phone. you know. it's just all wrong in. You can't take your dog to the park to go to the bathroom. I'm going to try to keep this ship straight. I'm going to be the designated driver for you on this final hour of the rich eisen show peter king and the first hour. He was phenomenal. Because he's peter king and he's great secondary. We had elizabeth banks calling in from ireland. She is directing cocaine bear. How about that for the name of a movie coming out soon and we show. She talked about her Gift for husband for his birthday and it had something to do with portland and the trailblazers. I'm just saying you love. Bob costs coming up and he will help us. Unpack this simone biles story and all that has happened in tokyo. Oh by the way. Aaron rodgers showed up today. Guys anybody care anybody paying attention. That's why we have. These moses cheers errands back a wait now. The richest on what talk about. Who's not showing up today rich. Did you hear about zack wilson. Oh make me want to drink. We're at a boost here honey as Tv and chris good job. I was seeing you poor mostly to come back. We had a We had extra bottle care wheels up. So i took it took. It took it out of the wine cellar and brought in for the boys today. All right tell us about tokyo. God what has been your favorite highlight of the day. What should we stop. Watch before we get to some day. Favorite highlight of the day was the group of Piers of Lydia jacoby in seward alaska watching them watch her win her events and win gold. You know When she's from you know a state that has won Long course pool in the entire state in anchorage alaska which was two hour drive from her from her hometown. So she and her mom rented an airbnb so she could train there for months and she winds up winning gold and she's seventeen and then just seeing all of her classmates and friends in that town. Just hopping up and down or slapping. The floor. And i could think of that. It's like they were kind of like for lack of better phrase like the hamsters in in her wheel you know like they were like connected to her and giving her power and strength without her even knowing and it's what we love about the olympics. There's a story like that and seeing how it affects a small town and and the first ever swimmer from the state of alaska to make a swimming team and shootings gold at a seventeen year old. She's a little she's a kid and just seeing all of that. It's just it just gets you in all the fields. It really does one of only. Yeah one of only ten olympians from the state of alaska all time. Which is kind of incredible. What's it like there. What's it like there. rich With the simone biles news. I'm curious about what it feels like there. And what are you hearing here. We are middle of the day for middle of art pratt. And then all of a sudden words filters oh by the way simone biles is withdrawn. And you know we went through the entire show thinking it was a physical medical issue and Obviously we get off the air and we find out something completely different. And i saw your guys conversation about it because You guys posted it on twitter. And i thought you you kind of you. You know. you're you if you will stuck the landing. I mean Look there's two ways to look at it you know. I've already seen some of the responses to your guys conversation and and there's gonna be a lot of people saying you know. She signed up for the olympics. This is what you this is what comes with the territory and and suck it up but we live in a world now where Mental health and mental awareness. He's just it or should be viewed just as seriously as anything that requires a crutch or a cast to heal and And so you know the pro. We don't know. The pastors of being an olympic athlete. And not even many olympic athletes would know maybe the pressures of what simone biles Must deal with because simone does Maneuvers with her body. That no other human being can do or has attempted so she knows what it requires to to prepare mentally physically to pull off what she needs to pull off. And it's you know The new york times story that you were quoting sues. I mean what is more jarring than to see. Somebody say that the thing they're looking forward to most is the olympics being over and when somebody signs up for something they might sign up for it because they feel. It's what's expected of her war vet. She would be leading others. Dow sponsors parents family members friends teammates. And then once you accept the assignment you know a human being comes to maybe regret it..

WR Corey Davis came to Jets with belief Darnold 'is the guy'

"Okay. So saw this quote really interesting. Corey davis being the titans. Free agent wide receiver of course goes to the jets. He said yesterday that he signed with the jets with the understanding. That sam darnold is gonna their team starting quarterback and twenty twenty one. Obviously i'm coming in with the understanding. That sam's the guy he said that doesn't scare me away at all. I've seen sam do great things. And i have all the belief in him thoughts that surprise. You doesn't really surprise me at all. I would think that i would think new coach. You come in. You got number two pick. Let's just roll the dice with one of these new but of course they're going to say. Hey the plan is for sam to be the guy right. Things could change. Yeah we could end up drafting somebody but we're not going to trade him. That's probably what he was told. Like sam's gonna be the guy down the road that could change. But i would anticipate that and if you're you know you're corey davis and if you're the vast majority of these free agents there's very few guys listen you have a limited shelf life in the nfl. You're going to the team. That's going to pay you the most money and you think that if corey davis was told that sam darnold not going to be the guy he he wouldn't have gone to the jets if they're offering the money. No no no.

"Our number to the rich Eisen show on the air Peter king going to be joining us as the developments involving the collective bargaining agreement that the NFL would truly like to have handled by the end of this month walking out of the combine with a new collective bargaining agreement all hammered out so the NFL could then turn the television partners and fill up this CBA with as much cash as they possibly can for everybody that's the that's the idea so then a fans guess what labor peace for at least another decade and then you can then turn the television partners and say guess what labor peace for another decade and two more playoff games on wild card weekend and the seventeenth game and you owe us more money yeah I mean who wants it but they would like that who wants it as to what they'd like to do we'll see what the player at the player's association again according to Dan Graziano of ESPN saying that the NFL players association's decision on the collective bargaining agreement proposal will go to the full membership for a vote regardless of the outcome of Friday's conference call with team wraps union leadership is being tasked with making a recommendation to the full membership who's who made that decision to bypass the player wraps so because I didn't Jim Trotter is it Jim Trotter of NFL network Mike Gallagher the NFL media group reported that he's hearing that that there's another off no votes amongst the team wraps two thirds of the player raft have to say yes to get it according to the way that they do business there their by laws two thirds the player reps have to say yes before the CBA is allowed to go to the full membership in Dan is ESPN here is sand they're gonna do it regardless so does that mean somebody and the executive committee is saying we like the proposal let's let everybody figure it out anyway what does that mean Peter king's gonna join us and I don't blame by the way fans for basically saying you know what let me know when the cake is baked let me know what it's made I wouldn't blame you for that our poll question is brought to you by our friends at Capital One Capital One is reimagined banking by offering savings and checking accounts with no fees or minimums one of the nation's best savings rates Capital One what's in your wallet I don't think stand at the area and of our number one talking right now the biggest NFL offseason storyline Tom Brady future borough verse the bangles to his health in the seventeen games and bigger playoff expansion right now to a healthy four percent borough verse the bangles thirteen percent seventeen games in the bigger playoffs thirty seven percent Tom Brady's future forty six percent okay and then we threw out another one scalpel as fans you want to pay Jack thirty five plus mill for five years or two on a rookie deal for the next five years and what we got on that front to a baby seventy two percent you know people decide that my colleague Tom palace Cerro of NFL network NFL dot com the NFLPA executive committee has voted six to five not to to recommend the current CBA proposal that is simply a recommendation though it now goes to the thirty two man board of representatives which is again the players Peter king again Nick coming up shortly Thomas to danske diehard ravens fan and fans will know him from life in pieces the news room he'll be here shortly he's in the CBS series Tommy everybody tally so I know you're fired up for a while there okay you guys six nine going against the guys six seven and we've had both fury and Wilder on the show Tyson fury to the seat to my right Deonte Wilder on our sets in the parking garage and a rich Eisen show super bowls set in Miami just a few weeks ago yeah buddy and you were at fury what so TJ Jefferson and I the our social media grand master we were there on the floor about twelve rows deep at staples it was one of the greatest sporting events I've ever been to in person it's basically the return of the heavyweight division in boxing which we've been sorely missing for a long time and these two guys are at the top of their support undefeated they fought to a controversial draw the first time as Tyson fury told us he thought he won a majority the rounds blocked gender well there put him down he put the big man down for the first time in his career for what seemingly appeared to be a thrilling twelfth round knockout victory when Tyson fury then went undertaker Jeff and shocked everyone soul I've gingerly brought that up to him when he came in studio when he came in here was last summer he came in here and I always go back in our green room area to chit chat with the guest whenever I can I went back there and it was a guy Ritchie movie where him and all his buddies who are by the way dressed to the nines except for him except for fury dressed in like a a short shorts like a pink short shorts and of of florals sort of beach where but not but not and fury got up said something to me I couldn't understand memory came back here to you and I'm like I I don't I don't understand one word they just said to me and he stood up and he kept going and going and going I thought he was gonna be the first guess that we had that was going to hit his head on our ceiling in our green room he is here he is one of them a huge just individuals I have ever met but I do my job best I can and there was a desk and a microphone between the two of us physically so I did bring up the controversy not just the are the you know he brought up he brought up the score cards but I brought up the fact that many people thought the refs gave him an extra beat to get off the campus it felt like a long count in the building here is that exchange so you were out for four seconds yeah you come to right there in the middle of staples here in downtown LA yeah and it dawns on you I need to get up within six seconds yeah and it took you how many seconds not very long I just jump straight buckle okay what do you say to people of the state it took me seven seconds to get up after that for them I don't say much to him because he's not really that call as a metal referee you'll "How many defensive players you think he's going to go in the first round and his answer. Was you could tell everybody that they can only draft defensive players in the first round. No offense players a lot of draft in the first round. And the patriots would be very happy with the player. They get it number thirty two. That's how deeply on the defensive side of the ball for this draft. So, you know, at the top of the list is Nick Bosa who I heard players and teams were. Halfway through the season saying, well, we have no chance to make plows this year. But at least we have a shot at Nick Bosa that kid showed up here, and he he looked healthy. And and DJ called quads Zillah, you know, his legs. So it was pretty it was pretty amazing seeing these defensive players in the flesh, and and they're coming. They're coming to the NFL. This fall. Last question for we let you go rich. How do you handle miss information versus truth when it comes to a lot of the value of their outside of, you know, your your group of guys, but you have a general manager. We like this guy. We liked this guy. You hear what's going on in Arizona now they're all in like you mentioned on Kyla Murray. Possibly, but how do you handle the misinformation versus charter? No. I mean, there's a ton of people that just keep talking. Out. The number of times DJ held his phone up to me and showed me a rumor the texted to him it happened once an hour, you know, and we'll see what twins pan and pan out. But, you know, thankfully, we're we're I'm just in the business of certainly here's your setting up somebody like DJ or Charles or or Dion or whatever deal was on fire today.
