Super Bowl Bound: 49ers and Chiefs

"Did bill. We made it to the Super Bowl. You me and Jimmy Garoppolo. I feel I I may have sweat more watching the NFC championship game. That Jimmy Garoppolo actually swept playing being in the NFC championship game. Bill Barnwell is a senior football writer at ESPN and the host of the bill. Barnwell show so after two weeks Of Extremely Exciting Football Championship weekend did not disappoint niners and chiefs fans disappointed pretty much everyone else or at least anyone who wanted close close games both favorites dominated so let's start with the most dominant team the San Francisco Forty niners bill win the niners packers met earlier earlier. This season. Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career threw for one hundred and four yards. Tonight he threw for three hundred twenty six yards But the result wasn't much better. Why is that okay? So the first time these two teams played the niners won with an absolutely dominant. Pash Josh Rush Nick. Bosa and his teammates knocked down Aaron Rodgers ten times on Sunday. The only knockdown Aaron Rogers twice and while they did hold them without a first down conversion in the first half both of those games the packers movable pretty consistently I should say after after halftime instead the forty niners otherworldly in a different way on Sunday they ran the ball forty two times for two hundred eighty five yards and four. We're touchdowns averaging nearly seven yards per carry to put that in context. ESPN has a stat called expected. Points with measures how each play impacts team's James Chances of scoring on a given the forty niners racked up the second most rushing. EPA for any team in a game this season and and the most for any single team in a playoff game over the last decade just narrowly beating out the prior record holder. which just happened to be the forty niners? Twenty wanting twelve playoff win over. The Green Bay Packers would Colin Kaepernick. Ran For one hundred. Eighty one rushing yards. So they're leading rusher tonight. I was not Colin Kaepernick. It was re Moster who ran for two hundred and twenty yards by himself. were good has hat trick the first half of the NFC championship game deserves a hat trick of field grade baby bill. Will I am guessing. A decent amount of football fans hadn't heard Ramos before tonight. Okay so you mustard is basically it accident accident in football terms but it's such a cool story so the Shanahan offense has a history of unearthing obscure running back and turning them into stars going back to Mike Shanahan stays in Denver but even among those backs most particularly remarkable case. Liners did everything they could to find a different running back over the past a couple of years. They hand picked a runner who they traded up to nab in the two thousand seventeen draft never played a game for the team. They signed Jerick McKinnon Torres. ACL He's collected more than and twenty one million dollars for the niners without ever playing a single game for the team. This offseason they added. Kevin Coleman from the Falcons who suffered an injury in the first half and that opened up the door from western and most of its story is easy to root for. You heard him talk about it. After the biggest game of his life on Sunday crazy that I've been on seven. Different teams actually still have cut dates every before every game a look at the dates when I got cut not everybody can can deal. Would that type of stressing the pain and agony I went through. I kept the faith to not only myself but whoever gave me the opportunity is organization has done a great job most are made the niners roster as a special teamer at first but after he looked good in limited time last season they gave him a three year extension after playing. Well this season most are just became the first running back. NFL history to top two hundred rushing yards and scored four rushing touchdowns in a single game. That's never happened in the playoffs playoffs before pretty good for a guy who was really an afterthought until the two thousand eighteen season. What's just remarkable? Bill is those two hundred twenty rushing yards. Were nearly three times as many yards as Garoppolo the night as quarterback past for which made for a remarkable stat sheet. There was a point in this football game where according to ESPN stats and Info. Jimmy went ninety four minutes in real time without attempting a pass so I have to ask going into the Super Bowl. Is that a sustainable offensive approach. I mean we all had that friend and in our twenties who got by succeeded solely because they were good looking right now that friend is Jimmy. Garoppolo I mean in the divisional round. He barely through through the football in the conference championship game. He barely through the football. We saw a similar situation with Ryan. Tannehill right over the first two weeks of his post. The season and when Tennessee ran into an offensive juggernaut with the chiefs their offense with Danny Hillis not able to accelerate into a higher gear. Now of course Garoppolo is the one who has to face the chiefs unless the forty niners can shut down the Kansas City. Passing game with their pass rush which isn't out of the question they're going to need to throw the football more quite a bit more. We've seen the niners succeed in games or Garoppolo and to throw the ball at ton with the Saints Win. Maybe as a notable for example but since Garoppolo through that interception against the Vikings in the divisional round cow Shanahan has called seventy one runs against just twelve passes passes even if the niners do end up throwing the ball effectively against the chiefs. It's clear that Shanahan doesn't WANNA put the game on Garoppolo shoulders unless absolutely necessary and that in itself is telling throughout the game bill packers fans were frustrated. Understand police and they seem to be taking out some of their wrath on the coaches arguing. They should have devised better game. Plans to both run the ball more and stop the run and do you think there's anything that Matt Leflore or the Packers Defensive Coordinator Mike Patton could have done differently in this game. Yeah I think so I think to be fair. Shanahan might just ask pedants number. It just felt like you is several steps ahead of the packers defensive coordinator and when pen and tried to adjust it just never seemed to catch up and work there. There was one play I think in the second quarter was a microcosm of everything that went wrong for the packers in this game. They came out in their nickle package with five defensive backs against the forty niners base. He's too back offense which created the size mismatch. The niners pitched the Baltimore and not only did he have a huge hole but he made both safeties with on their tackle attempts downfield win for about thirty yards. pedants struggled to put his players in positions where they could succeed and meanwhile leflore didn't coach like a guy who was a seven point underdog. The packers punted. I believe on their first drive on fourth and one from the fifty yard line. We know the packers are enormously more effective offense with Aaron Aaron Jones on the field but the floor still Jamal Williams their backup running back. Play over thirty percent of the offensive snaps and he didn't really take advantage of move the niners movement Richard Sherman. That was really fascinating during the regular season for the niners and during the vast majority of his time in Seattle Sherman signed up for almost every every snap asked the left cornerback. Defense playing against the right side of the offense. The niners started the game on Sunday. Which chairman on the opposite side of the field on the right side of the defense on the left side of the offense against devante items and while Sharon didn't travel to the left side very frequently? He did do it a few times during the first half. The second half Adams was able to be isolated Sherman over the top for a huge play downfield. I think that played about half of his snaps on either side of the field. I would have liked to have seen for trying to isolate him against German a little more often and take his chances with

B. P. you tell me about that run game it was it was thorough what what what that was that the sense of what you wanted to do from the from the jump I think our game plan was run run until they could stop us and so when you get forty two rushes before the three meals so forty five total but when you're forty five rushes on him I think that means they can't stop the run game and so we're going to keep running down your throat whether it's outside John insides on gaps games was gonna keep bringing it every single time and I thank our line or wide receivers block there walk you know so well like a man I'd zero catches but you so palm because you've killed in the run game and as we have guys a guy on the team that sacrifice everything no matter if they don't get a catch or not it's just I'm so proud to be part of this team these guys yeah you don't even need to get your hands on the ball until the middle of the fourth quarter and I mean I is that just what what's what's on to it so that's the that's huge if that if you guys went in you don't touch it you don't care now I'm in the more you get tackled.

twenty four Cincinnati down by three and then a little less than three minutes later Armonk Gardner Mister clutch when it comes to interceptions did it again intercepting Brady white at the twenty six yard line of the Bearcats had the ball down by three with seven minutes and forty nine seconds to go and fortunately they did nothing with it a three and out the took about a minute and ten seconds off the clock the Bearcats had appointed back to Memphis and rely on their defense to try to get the ball back well looks like the defense dead Memphis headed first and ten at the thirty eight they ran three plays and didn't gain a single yard as an incomplete pass on fourth down and Ted looked like he was going to give the Bearcats the ball back with plenty of time on the clock but on that he batted down pass on third down in ten that set up fourth down in ten my Jay Sanders the sophomore defensive lineman for Jacksonville was called for unsportsmanlike conduct when he got into a little pushing and shoving with the guy trying to block him about ten yards behind the quarterback that unsportsmanlike conduct penalty gifted Memphis fifteen yards extended the drive and shortly after that Antonio Gibson ran it in from twenty nine yards away to seal the victory from Memphis yeah heather chances the Bearcats did they were in this game and you know with a backup quarterback that's what you want there's certainly some things to clean up and but there is in a in a handful of plays that we just talked about that with the difference in this football game Cincinnati's chances of going to the Cotton Bowl probably ended here in Memphis even if the Bearcats are able to come back here and a week in a week and when to put themselves in the mix to go to the Cotton Bowl they would have to be the highest ranked team in the college football a bowl rankings and there's probably a pretty good chance the Boise state will move ahead of Cincinnati here with the Bearcats suffering their second loss of the season they're definitely celebrating in Boise Idaho since there is now a chance that Boise state could be the Cotton Bowl representative Memphis will have something to say about that first though if the Tigers beat the Bearcats again in eight days Memphis will definitely be Cotton Bowl bound Memphis went it today thirty four twenty four well back to you Dan thank you Boise state a winner tonight over Colorado state for what it's worth the other group of five school that is nationally ranked in the college football playoff rankings Appalachian state is ahead of Troy by seventeen early in the second quarter when we return Tony will chat with bear cat said coach Luke Fickell thirty four to twenty four the final score tonight as Memphis knocks off Cincinnati your listening.

"Will definitely consider. Hey trafficking upon her heyday that that I'm totally against the main. You're not scoring points with a partner. Now. I know you could flip the field. I know the value of having a good punter. But I think that is definitely something. And they just did it with O'Donnell who now they're getting going to get rid of an e costs the bears. In the playoff game as well. Was one of many things that went wrong. But. The kicker thing. I on so scarred. I don't know I'm I'm leaning. No, I don't know if I'd be like upset, but I I more. I'd be more in favor of finding it using all those other avenues is there. A Williamson of kickers. This trap kids Zion. Williamson can't kitty kick. Well, he kicks read out of his shoe him throwing throwing a football like the entire length of field. Yes. He was like an eighty five yard throughout wasn't he being recruited as a tight end by some of the major colleges that is a quarterback. But I believe is a football player. But yeah, who knows maybe Zion could play the three or four for the bulls. And he could kick for the bears Khalil Mack would member. He put on the bears. The the bulls uniform. That's true. So, but what shoe would he wear to kick the question, maybe he won't wear a shoe so strong. He doesn't need a show. Gold school kicker foot. I've always had get this tweeter. I've asked us to Waddell. How did that become a thing barefoot kicking? Who was the first person who said, you know, what I could do. I am better at this without footwear than I am. Yeah. Yeah. You know, especially in inclement weather, like like, I could see like if you're at Florida, and you're like, you know, I'm gonna try this in the swamp against, you know, ole miss on on a Saturday. But like in the NFL what we what were you thinking? I'll let you bring in Wieder. But I have just found a NFL presents the era of the barefoot kicker to watch this. Who would be the guy is there. I don't know. I never understood that like who was the first to say, you know, what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna be better kicking a ball without his show. I blend Cody parkey that we're even having this discussion right now things kicker pace and Nagy spoke today gain Wieder is in Indianapolis for the big football festival. And that's what it's turned into. And he joins us now as PAT's in for waddles and Kabo. Hey, dan. Hey, guys, I may be a little bit delirious after an action pack day here in India. But I am all for of air for kicker. Let's bring one in. Yeah. What was the what was the biggest headline of all the people that you talked to was it the kicker. Oh, there's no question that Ryan pay count. I counted it up. I'm writing this for Chicago Tribune dot com, as we speak nineteen kicker questions. He that before he got his first question about Mitch Trubisky. That does not tell you where the focus of this two thousand and nine hundred they will I mean, this is obviously an urgent mission for Ryan pace this off season. The bears understand what they need to do to try to increase their odds of getting this thing. Right. And we are now a football city. That's obsessed with trying to figure out how they're going to go about doing this nineteen question on February Wednesday here in Indianapolis about Cody parkey about Robbie goals release about Robbie gold not being option any longer about what Ryan prioritizes as he goes to book for kickers in the draft. You know, use reagents eighty us both how many are you going to bring the camp all of those things were on the front burner today. Dan. On the kicker front. And you heard Ryan pace say look we had a really good off season. Last year. We hit on almost all our free agents. We really like our draft. Obviously, you're not going to bat a hundred and your thousand and we didn't connect on Cody. But that being said Sylvia now we're talking about this in the meeting. My issue was there were warning signs throughout the year that park he was struggling, and they almost seemed reluctant to bring anybody to Halas hall to challenge him. Did you do you blame them at all for? Okay. Once they they made that decision to sign him to the free agent deal that they didn't go about do their due diligence to try to at least push him or find a plan B or C when things were going smoothly. It's a fair question, Pat. And I think that there is a process sometimes when you make decisions to give out these contracts to to sometimes be slow to understand the reality of what's happening in front of you. I think they were convinced that that Cody could get himself out of his tailspin, and they kept convincing themselves of that to the point where it became detrimental in the the point that you just made that they didn't bring in potential competition or someone to to push Cody or do those things that might help get that thing on track. And so it it is a failure of the bears lost a playoff game in a year where the coaching staff and most of the players Milagro feel like they had a legitimate Jim to make a run to the Super Bowl and they lost a playoff game because the kicker was unreliable. And so when you look at that from a big picture perspective. It's an absolute failure on behalf of the general manager at the front office. And now Ryan today that they are going to get this thing. Right. This off season. He's gonna do whatever it takes. Okay. It's still a bit of a needle in the haystack approach. Chair because as you guys know these guys come out of nowhere. And you don't know where you're going to find that guy. You know, Justin pucker who John Harbaugh today said he believes is the best kicker in the history of the league wasn't undrafted guy. Robbie gold was an undrafted guy at a military and undrafted guy. So now, you have to figure out how as a talent evaluation staff key in on the right things to increase your odds of finding one of these diamonds in the rough that can be reliable for four or five six or obvious cases close to a decade, Dan. What did you call it an urgent matter? Now is that what what he's pretty much terming? It. That's what I'm I'm calling it. I mean, they they they've certainly made it clear that this is a major priority for them both in free agency in the draft as we go through March and April here in the next, you know, eight or nine weeks here, and they've gotta they've gotta figure this out. I it big part of what the two thousand nine nineteen narrative is going to be the head into the season. And it's going to be a big part successful scale your of what happens in the first three or four months of the of the season when the actual football. All right. So if we're if we're then judging or making a prediction on the future, judging by the past every time Ryan pace has been faced with an urgent matter at some position. He is always. Paid highly for let's put it. And I know he's done a good job. But like follow the trail, Dan when they needed a quarterback, they went, and they they basically negotiated against themselves for Mike Glennon, he went and he paid a high price to get Mitch Trubisky. Trading up from three to to you know, he paid high value for every wide receiver. They got in the free agent market last year. So do you believe that they're going to use this draft pick because of the urgency that you mention so here's what I would say on that. I think that it it. It doesn't start with saying. Okay. We're going to pay the big price. I think it starts with saying. This is what we want. And this is the price of what it takes to get that. Right. I think that that is the starting point is identifying the guy that you love and then figuring out. Okay. What is it? We have to do to make sure he's ours. So that's that's the starting point for me. If they if they find a fall in love with a guy that they are absolutely certain that they can sign in. College free agency. Then then you do that. If you fall in love with the guy or fearful that he's going to be drafted in round six, you know before you pick. Well, then you take them around five, you know. And that's just the way it goes. And you understand that this is something that you have to get right to not let another promising circle the drain, and so I would just start with. Okay. Who are the guys you fallen in love with? And what does it cost to get those guys? And I think what Ryan has shown during his time the general manager if he's willing to do whatever it takes to get guys that he absolutely want. Right. He's Otley Leonard Floyd he traded up for a Mitch. Right. Like like, maybe if there's a guy on the board in the seventh round the day. Indeed. Like and think that they could get him undrafted. Maybe it's like the NBA where you can always find an extra second round pick. Isn't there? Always a way to add an extra seven round pick. Yeah. I mean, the seventh round is the seventh round. I mean, Charles Leno was the seventh round or that's obviously one of those, you know, pie in the sky situations where you say, okay, if we can get a long-term starter at a premium position of seventh-round grade, but more often than not those guys that are gonna come to camp with you baby last the season at wash out the back door. So you don't have to over value that position and convince yourself that you're gonna find some absolute superstar there, and and so you can't possibly use it on a kicker if if there's a guy there that you wanna bring up, Dan, whoever they settle on is going to have to be mentally strong. Because when they go out there in September. They're going to have parkey stank on them. And it's. Nothing to do with what they have done in the past. They're going to have to deal with that and deal with a nervous Soldier Field as sixty three thousand plus are holding their breath when he attempts his first kick, I've talked about that a lot in recent weeks about how you know. I it may be unfair to whoever the next bears kicker is. But it's reality that he is going to have to live with the baggage that here the stars that are here. Just as every cubs team that that was on the brink of doing something special how to live with the history and the baggage and and the idea that comes with falen, you could miss you know, two kicks in a game in September. And in most other markets that would be okay kick had a bad game, you know, all right ship and get ready for next week here. It's going to be an absolute break glass. Pull the alarm and start freaking out again. Right. And so that is going to be part of this dynamic going forward. You know? So you better find somebody that has mental toughness, and that's very hard to evaluate is a very hard thing to put a measurable on. And so they're gonna have to us all..

"They try to go for the throat and they missed the throat, but they had Blake Bortles throwing the football into the secondary. It's it's got risk attached to it and they're left with the forty three yard field goal. And that gives them a twenty two ten lead early in the fourth quarter could have been twenty three teen. Well, I'm just feel go, yeah, but I'm looking down the list here of third, Nate third, nine, third nine. Every time in the fourth quarter they threw it and they threw it and they threw it if they ran the ball on third and eight and third nine or if they had Blake, Bortles run quarterback draws, then you'd have me. I don't think Doug Peterson talking about the overall game plan. He's talking about that moment. He said. KOMO minimum, but that's not how it came across because I think momentum is twenty to ten in the fourth quarter to I want to clean it up with what I think. Thank you. I don't really think Peter was criticized. Yes, get let me have my moment. Doug is digging a hole, he got the team back and digging out of it. So if he digging gift would pledge a cop, Brandon, Graham or walk to coming back healthy, be just fine. Malcolm Jenkins, but anyway, side do not believe he was criticizing Doug Monroe the entire game Lynn. He's saying that moment you have them on the road. You have to time fifty five seconds. You quarterback played well ride that wave ride the momentum. You say. Momentum is a big thing told me so right? So they faced with the twenty ten lead its third Nate at the thirty five. And they thought to my new guy, Alan Hearns. He used to be Jacksonville, Jaguar, and he catches it for seven yards and their one yard short and they, we got a punt this because you're at your own forty two. You're not gonna go for that. It's Doug Peterson, is he gonna go for that? I don't think so what he's so they punt New England all the way back to its fifteen yard line. And guess what happens? Tom Brady against, you've got what most people consider. The best defense in pro football, right? To best corners and pro-football that right. Tom Brady proceeds to go. Eight plays eighty five yards for touchdown to cut it. Twenty seventeen. Tom Brady is playing with twelve stitches in the base of his thumb on his throwing hand. And he did that in Tom Brady against the best defense in pro football Saxon villes defense, the two best corners and the best pass rushing pro football. He throws for a hundred and thirty eight yards in just the fourth quarter, one hundred thirty eight. That's impossibly great with twelve stitches in his throwing hand that has to be bothering him a little bit in the cold. Doesn't bother you. That of all the games that were played in all the have that this is the only time in twenty seventeen that a team took a knee with fifty plus seconds in two time outs that notwithstanding we go all the way to the fourteen minute Mark in the game, you could go down to about the twelve minute Mark and they're still ahead twenty to ten. You don't think that's good that you don't think that's going for the measure where every third down they through the football in the fourth quarter, every third down you had the moment of staying you ride the wave. And that's what the eagles do. The eagles. Like we got the momentum. We're going for it on fourth and one, you ride the momentum. You always underestimate you underestimate with the Atlanta Falcons were up against in the previous Super Bowl. They're looking across the field at number twelve on the patriots sideline in their thinking. We we gotta do this. We gotta do that. We got play out of character in. We've got to keep doing like they just kept you. Wanted them to run the ball Atlanta, and they're sitting up in the press box thinking. Now we got called Shannon's thing. We gotta throw it because that guy's good thing. My problem with them skip is that you can't be up twenty eight to three and half a rushing attempts. Then the team is down by twenty five that cannot happen..

"I'm pulling my weapon at this point. All right. So now you already ate your eight eight point. STAN Winston, you get four down to score four to midfield to midfield. You get four more downs. That's and your sidelines getting cranky. They didn't appreciate getting burned on that little bit. And then we go down and we, we score really quickly. We like we answer back in eighty six one. We didn't get a two point conversion. Eight to six. All right, we hold them again. There's five seconds left and half before the half, right? They run a play. It's fourth-down turnover and we get the ball back. We call timeout with one second left. All right. They other team starts walking field thinking there was no time. Oh, that was their mistake and they walk off the field and we like, no, we call the time out and they're like, no, you didn't. And we like we did and then the referees, okay, we'll give the time out. So you have one, we get the ball back on the field with one second left. You basically one play before halftime, right? They're all mad because they have to come back out on the field. We throw this crazy play. The kids run all of field. He scores, I got eighty five yard, touch, scrambled egg, rambled, eggs, all over field. Eight and we go up right before halftime. Fourteen to eight. And their love this movie. And they're pissed because the rest let us have that extra play. They didn't hear its call time out or whatever. So it's getting really heated. So we have half time. We go back started third quarter. They get the ball first. They're moving down the field. We get a pick six, no way right out of the gate on second down. So we're up now twenty one to eight. It's good for the good guys looking pretty good right now. We're like, okay, we're going good. So they get the ball back now. They're on their now. Now we're on defense. They're driving down. Our kid goes to pull of flag and the other kid comes up behind him and sort of push them shut down the ground a little bit and twist. The kid gets his angle twisted. Oh no, he's on the ground. At this point. The guy's dad who got hurt, he's longshoremen boy. He looks like a longshoreman. Somebody would not wanna mess with. He's juggernaut without the metal helmet. That's how big this guy is. He's huge. He's on our tape. He starts go out looking at son. He's like that kid push my kid that could push my kid though the coach that yelled out the classless thing. Right, right, right. You weeks ago, he's like, why don't you shut up and get back on the sideline them appoint juggernaut starts running towards towards guy and everyone's like everyone wanted to get front of them. But same time like you don't wanna step in front of a Mack truck motherfucker. You kind of want to act like you're gonna step in front of the Mack truck. And so he got up to the guy and he just shoved him just gave them my word and the guy goes flying back at that point. All hell breaks loose like we're run out to get our guys. We finally get everybody off the field. They had to Jek that father father's on our longshoremen's juggernauts out of there. So juggernauts back in the parking lot. And then the that coach from the other team comes over, starts pointing to other people on our sidelines who were talking trash during the game. He was talking trash boys, these rat. Now, people big pussy and that guy he was trying to restrain himself and all of a sudden his wife goes flying by him jogging. That's why though this was another guy you this. Another guy's wife and she was more like she's smaller than jug or not. But Twi four times minutes juggernaut she was going like it was going to be Jerry Springer. It was really. And so they finally got that restrained every got to the sidelines. The point of the game is this. This is like five minutes, third quarter games. Plenty game left that coach and the other teams like we're done. We're outta here makes his whole. He walked the game. We win by forefeit. Wow. What a pussy, what he wouldn't have done it had they've been winning..

"He threw for what five point three yards per toss. Amine let's maybe show give them a chance to go a little vertical. Do a little bit more in the next. Right. He didn't have a chance to show off that that was why didn't take anything? Nothing negative about it as much pilot. Go route that he just missed that would have changed those numbers, but bridgewater's the other guy, seven of eight eighty five yards. They scored in both his possessions, and I'm really trying to figure out how they're going to play this. Now, mccown is going to be out of the equation more or less. I just wonder if ridge water has a real chance of the starting job to or if they really behind the scenes ramping up, I would say like, I would rather start if you're gonna unless you're going to trade teddy Bridgewater and you wanna win games in this coaching staff needs to win games. If it's not Donald for some reason wouldn't you start Bridgewater over Josh mccown I guess. But they said everything that they need to say on Sunday and Monday in their practices. He got ten out of twelve. I team reps, Sam darnold did on Sunday. He got the vast majority on Monday. So this is kind of how you do it. Sam darnold is going to start this second week game and barring a total employees. And he's gonna start the third game. Two and teddy Bridgewater is never been someone that they particularly care. About as long term future because it's not their future unless something something wrong happen. So I think they would love Bridgewater to play his darnold back up the next two weeks and play. Well, they're praying for a quarterback yet or fifth round pick for him or something like that. That would be a win for them. Bridgewater doesn't have any guaranteed money in that contract. It was basically a free look at Bridgewater you, did you guys feel the one thing on the falcons side? It was one of the most bydesign. There's no Matt Ryan, and there's no Julio Jones, and it's not. It's not a not taking anything away from the jets, Dan, but the falcons produced. What about the the final score and it produced one of the most uninspiring preseason performances? I have ever seen in my entire life, but that was not show up to that game. That was a little hard to evaluate the quarterback. There was no path rush whatsoever, and the receivers were wide open. That's fine. You can evaluate their backup quarterback. They need one who the falcons. Yeah. Hey, match up. Barely had any incompletions to let you start it pretty hot..

I say that he just finished was seventy four eighty five good at for you. Devante was never had a thousand yards season. It's true. I believe that was his season. Are his career high in receptions. So is that no one one more reception the year prior seventy five. So he's never had more than seventy five. All I'm doing is bringing that to the forefront and saying. Devante you got here more on the merit of your quarterback than you did on your own merit. You do know how to get into the end zone regardless at all times. And I think devante I mean, if you just put him in a vacuum, I don't have him in my top twenty guys, talent wise. That's my own personal opinion about Dimond Tanna, but you have Aaron Rodgers. You don't Jordy Nelson and he was productive despite not having Aaron Rodgers is here. He looked right in preseason the preseason opener. So the Monte atoms he's at number seven. Aaron Rodgers is going to get him there. He's one of those guys where if at the end of the season, he doesn't have ten touchdowns and he played the full season. I would just happen. I, I mean, it just seems impossible for Aaron Rodgers to not throw ten touch. It would have about the ball down in the end zone on earth. Yeah. So you know, and if you have ten touchdowns as a wide receiver, they call that the bronze, your one housing. Going to be a wide receiver one. That's that's why I feel like, okay, wide receiver, nine, I feel like I've got him a little bit low because he has something that no one else out there has. He has Aaron Rodgers with no real competition. I mean, you could say Jimmy Graham or Randall Cobb. But I mean, that's not hard competition to overcome for Davante Adams. All right. Number eight. AJ green. I think some people. They wanna move on for me, Jay green. He burned him last year. He had a when I'd found year when he finished as the wide receiver eleven. I know. I know you're not. You're not being facetious. No seventy. Five thousand just over one thousand eight. Touchdowns the people out there are mad at AJ green. Well, he had see look week seven. He was the forty seventh ranked wider week nine. He was the ninety. Second ranked white out. It's fourteen and fifteen fourteen and fifteen playoff weeks. He has integrated. You get real man. I think it's the combination. Right? We've talked about this before when you start the season poorly that sticks with people when you or vice versa. You up. If you ended the season poorly or blow up in those fantasy playoffs is sticks with you. Those were four though, right? Or of his worst weeks. We're week one to fourteen and fifteen. You look at the week's in between that. He had. What five top ten weekly finishes wasn't stretch. What's wide receiver. One over thirty percent of the time was a one or two fifty percent of the time which is among the more consistent, fantasy wide receivers. He is going at two eight right now. He's he's a great value. I, you know, I've talked about I more pro Andy, Dalton for this season. Then I think you two gentlemen, are I, I'm pretty much pro Cincinnati. This is one of those teams. I expect to have a lot more fantasy output this season than last season. They fired their coordinator after two weeks of an aptitude last year. Let Bill laser take over now. He has a whole training camp. I think they've improved their offensive line a little bit, but that's gonna make a big deal John Ross coming in. So to me, I think this off Hyler Boyd. Oh, well, it I'm just saying, I mean, Tyler Boyd was already on the field, right? I'm saying to take Brandon. LA fell off. Put John Ross. Give you more. Scott gush is going to help the offense. So AJ green will get open. If you watched the first preseason game, aged green did not look like, oh, he's thirty. J. green is at p. was unbelievable. AJ greens, disintegrating DB's in in camp. He's the same age green right now..

Aaron Rodgers Jay green Devante Davante Adams John Ross Brett Hundley Dimond Tanna Jordy Nelson Scott gush Hyler Boyd Brandon LA coordinator Jimmy Graham Cincinnati Dalton Randall Cobb Andy eight hundred eighty five yard two fifty percent

"You know here's the here's the other part of that he didn't play full season will rogers but he still finished seventy four receptions eight hundred eighty five yards and ten touchdowns so he finished nearly identical to the pace he was putting up with rogers except he was doing that with brett hundley yeah but this is the this is the curse retail of touchdown dependency but because going to say ever broke thousand yards never broken as seventy five her reception but if anyone is is considered an exception to the rule of touchdowns is green bay's number one wide receiver because aaron rodgers is a lease it hap thirty plus touchdowns where most quarterbacks if they break thirty you're you're very happy about it that's the argument that gets me with adams every time every time i wanna doubt him every time i want to move him down tear somebody walks along and his name is mike and he will say well rogers is gonna throw for thirty five touchdown break them up show me where they go and i can't do it without giving double digits the davonte items yes i can't do it without giving like fifteen to about about because if teen to him and fifteen to graham i mean no i mean you're right and then if you do have the consistency look he's not a heavy arctic guy he's not a monstrous play guy he's somebody that is good after the catch you're gonna get him involved in some of those damaris thomas screen route type of situations and he has a nose for the end zone two straight years twelve touchdowns now ten touchdowns so.
