"Hayward pool equipment SO PH just a system eighty eight degrees and it's only going to get hotter tomorrow probably eighty nine degrees you know so which brings me to a great a topic that you and I really don't like to talk about you and I've been given involved that's a lot longer than I have but I've been in the industry you know forty years you know so I've been around it as well as a the unfortunate lives of people not paying attention to their children and unfortunately that's a sad day when that comes about so rowdy you you and I just we talked earlier this week and you get notifications of when an unfortunate incident happens in the state of Florida so we kind of talk about where we are from maybe January two today and the unfortunate incidents were someone's larger live in a swimming pool what Tony United's become very close friends here the last four five years in and thankfully with your support and access PHR swimming pool services association you know we're we're making a difference but right now I'm in the last three months have been tough it's been you know it it literally breaks my heart when I see a child died because drowning is you know is the second leading cause of unintentional deaths and fourteen under but it's a leading cause of death in children four years of age or younger so we've had twenty two drowning deaths in the state of Florida the last three months last year we had to and I think a lot of people ask me why in in in a lot of the reason is because we're home you know parents are home families are home now and in the end we become distracted so many responsibilities as parents and grandparents but you're trying to tackle all at once from making your home a school and a home and sometimes even a gymnasium but even really have to be vigilant in watching your children because that that that the pools this magnet for kids you know I think you said that and they're they're they're just naturally curious and it could be something that we would love we enjoyed but you just have to be cognizant of but do not let your children go in or near the water without adult supervision over here they're secure tell everybody what to care for red drowning is route product details tell everybody what the cure for drowning is well you know Tony Wheatley is thankfully we have you and and what you've been able to to help us but it's literally the curious is homeless and I know it sounds oversimplified but it it's been proven that it that formal swim lessons reduces that risk of drowning by almost ninety percent actually eighty nine percent so it it's been proven that that's from us and save lives so I just really I mean especially here in Florida you know where water is part of the fabric of who we are you talked about the shoreline and you've talked about the number of tools in our state which is awesome we should have pools everybody should have a pool in the backyard we live in Florida you know if you can afford it you can do it I it by all means I recommend it it's it's wonderful it's a wonderful gift for the family but you don't want to have wouldn't put your kid in a car without seat belts so why would you live near water or have a pool in your backyard without put your child in swim lessons right and I and I and I say you know parental supervision is the key never swim alone I mean parental supervision why would you you know I laughed at this about twenty years ago when you go into Walmart and and the kids and the parents got the kids on dog leashes right well really what's really what's really the difference you know your kids need to be on a leash in a record out but what I mean by that not physically with Alicia Struble what you need to pay attention to him you know I I can't tell that story when we did the largest swim lesson done a celebration years ago and got a hundred fifty kids in the pool we got twenty lifeguards in the pull out of the pool you know and and then all these women and men are up on the deck there have a conversation not panic attention a Johnny one bit Johnny's over screaming mom mom mom look what I'm doing and is she paying attention now what is that kid wants he wants mom and dad to see Hey I'm doing something watch what I'm doing pay attention to me don't take that away from the child you know these are growing years where you have to pay attention to your children know where they are all the time this is not just out back this is anywhere in your house this is anywhere where you're out and about you wouldn't let your child walk across the street unattended you know just walk or you wouldn't do that because and they don't know all the scenarios of what could potentially happen and rowdy is it it's like changing when someone loses a loved one correct it's it's like changing yeah it is it is I I've met with families that attack drownings hi five I have met with families that have near drownings which can be equally as tragic because sometimes you have to live with that for a lifetime you have to remember that that eighty percent of all drownings happen in front of an adult yeah so it it it it it we live in an age now Tony where we become distracted with the with the smartphone especially and it's it's a critical time to put the phone down because a lot of drownings that I've been reading and and doing research on here especially these last three months have happened when when a parent is actually on the phone and they're not they're literally not paying attention and hit you know drowning is a silent killer it's not you don't hear the child soldiers are literally slips under water with with no voice and it literally looks like they're just swimming kind of going down in the water and that so yeah it's it's really important that you said that there would be a dog watches that child at all times let's take a break thank you yeah we're at work we take a break come back around against please hang and hang tight SO four zero seven two eight two four nine one one visit our website at DC water features dot com like us on Facebook for a promise you amazing things can happen in your backyard would be
