"All right now? This is the hall but their brother. It'd be their brothers store. Career Joe's has just announced their version of plant based Burger. They're calling them protein patties and the box. It looks pretty much like the beyond Burger packaging like the almost exactly the same just with with their own name on it It comes What has eighteen grams of protein made from a blend of protein sunflower oil beats and seasonings and for the package which which comes with two? It's a four dollars and forty nine cents which I believe is significantly cheaper than beyond so I thought why don't we try them. So I went to trader Joe's to go get them and and I did not come back with them. The stats are crazy. High Two hundred ninety calories a patty and twenty grams of fat. That is very high. Weren't aren't they calling them. Protein patties. It should be called Fatty Pettis. No seriously I have to say like I. I would have tried them so I think we should try them. But I don't understand. Like I am a big proponent of plant based Patties I've been eating the Boca patties and the Morningstar patties forever and I thought they were amazing. Doing what I love the most about the original Boca patties. They were seventy sometimes eighty calories. They tasted a lot like burger. There were very low in fat. All all of these new patties are there just loaded with fat and a lot of them with saturated fats. And I don't quite understand why I think they just trying to add so so much fat and flavor and intern calories. They're just trying to fool people into thinking. This tastes as rich as full. Fat Fatty Fat. Now they call them like the bleeding patties. Is there supposed to be like juicy like real burgers. How many calories are in our normal hamburger probably around the same as a lot of these impossible burgers depending on how thick the Patty is? But they're pretty thin. Kim I mean if you go to a restaurant with a big thick burger your pet. He's going to have a lot more but these are not gigantic patty so I would say typically I. I'd be shocked if there was more than three hundred calories and twenty grams of fat in a thin Burger. I honestly think less because think about it even regular ground beef. What to fifty to sixty four ounce portion Kevin probably yeah? I don't know it's upsetting but we'll try. You've ruined everything. Mike Saving the day by not making your try it and now you want it thank you. You're very thoughtful and I know that if there was peanut butter involved in some way we'd be eating those patties right. I found out that it's not today that this podcast airing today that we're recording it. National Peanut Butter Day. What wow law? I hope we get to celebrate Pyotr. You can have more all right. We're GONNA jump into the Aldy Hall. We love all the all. The is a sister store to trader. Joe's I don't know if you have an all near you. I feel like it's even more inexpensive offensive than trader. Joe's there are some fun cool things. What are some of those dickey things? I don't get to go to all these as much as So everything that they have. That's it's their own brand. Looks like the real stuff. So like frosted flakes looks like frost. The other version looks like frosted flakes are. I'm trying to think of some of the healthiest like their their protein. Eighteen bars mirrors and what about checkout again. There's something crazy right so checkout you you have to bag your own groceries. Jamie thought it was kind of funny. Aw I thought it was weird. Because she's putting everything into our cart and I'm thinking if I just open a bag and put it in the car. She's doing the same amount of work. Oh she won't put it in the now we have to take Out of a cheese but she picked up each item and put it in our card so I just wanted to be like. Here's a bag of weight. And so so wait. She won't let you just take it has to. I put it in the car and then you have to go to. Mike said No. You have to go to the bagging station and I think it's efficiency because there are things that go through that line really fast. So I think it's an efficiency thing was inefficient. Whatever it is? They're able to sell things very inexpensively. Mike actually has received today so he may rattle off just how inexpensive some of these finds are truth be told I had nothing to do with picking these products out. They were brought to me. I am being surprised with all all of them sometimes and fake it. I'm sorry like a lot of more new but some of the things we have to talk about this so we did a good job. I hope you did

"You'll multiply your resting metabolic rate by one point five and that gives you an answer sir of about one thousand nine hundred eighty they go to quit. I'm i'm so little say roughly two thousand so that would suit the average person who doesn't average amount affect society so that's how many we should be well how much cobs proteins and fats we should be eating a day so we do it relative to our activity levels and basic metabolic rate okay so for those people this is a different kind of lead onto that question who have removed meat from the died of taken it out now to lead a more plant based lifestyle so how'd you recommend finding a balance between understanding the right combinations protein and food because of course you can get incomplete proteins these days. Do you want to plant that down. Yes of course. I mean one of the big mistakes i do see people cutting up meat is that they fail to replace that with any other protein sources we it's overall perhaps having up a cardio on toast but there's very little protein as he retired protein two meals to substitute for for me if you've chosen listen to cut down all to use the example of avocado and because i see a lot of beans will seeds to something with pricing yet. Okay okay so <hes> yes. It's perfectly possible to get more than enough protein on a vegetarian or vegan diet so the key thing is to replace <hes> the protein in meat with plant source and the main the most important thing to remember when you cut down on meat is to consume a variety brighty of plant proteins. That's the key thing so we're talking about beans lentils chickpeas hamas. We talked sawyer. Soya milk soy tofu a eh not sincere and whole grains all of that. There's a whole there's a long long list of these issues can have and i will always recommend that people have at least one per ideally to different plant proteins each meal so for example if you're having <hes> say stir-fry virtuous to- few well we'll make sure that you're adding a grain to sweat it could be noodles rice so you having more than one type of protein what i realize you can get protein gene and items like rice and oats and some things classified typically as obscene animal products fascinating yeah absolutely so on average one hundred grams grams of most grains will give you somewhere between ten and twelve grams of protein so it's quite a bit and although is not complete protein in other words it. It doesn't supply you with all of dissension. They'll be issue. One or two might be lacking in low amounts so that's why it's important to have more than one protein gene in your diet halava and the second thing is to make sure you consume enough. I ha i work with so many athletes inactive people who think but despite spreading hammer toasted on the savage is enough but ashley a tablespoon of hamas contains only about three grams of protein protein which you know is it. Do you need to add something else. Make sure you can seem enough a tin of beans for example chick peas that contains roughly fli eighteen grams of protein but that's the law. I mean you do have to have quite hefty portion. I honestly but yeah but in reality i said well. I'd i'm vegetarian so what i do have say huffington of beans not on its own put into curry or st or pilaf or something so roughly half that the grains that some kind of nuts so it could be cashing so you have a variety of proteins. Don't need to sit down with a whole tin of being which is really nice. The classic example i like to use a lot is rice has something that beans doesn't have and beans have something out half. Put them together bingo. You've got a complete protein so let's breakdown. You've mentioned amino acids so what is the building blocks of protein and the amino acid pool all right. Okay okay well. Yes amino acids is rightly said are the building blocks of protein so when you consume protein as food the body breaks it down into its constituent constituent amino acids absorbed into the body. They're rebuilt into new proteins..

"But there's a reason that they are choosing to cap. That twenty forty rather than going till the end of the century as these models have been doing of late. The idea is that the actual effects of climate change the most negative ones begin to ramp up after twenty forty and so if you cap it there and say, we don't want to know what happens after that. Then you can pretend that, hey, maybe things will be okay. We don't necessarily know how bad it's going to be in previously, as I pointed out. They usually go until the, the end of the century when the effects are far far worse, and just recently a few months ago, the US government put out a report talking about the incredible toll in terms of both money and American lives. That will be lost by the end of the century dude out of control climate breakdown. They're not interested in having any more reports like that. And so by simply cutting off when you can analyze to they're hoping to pretend to Yuna false sense of security when it comes to the climate. Okay. Let's come up with a fun Atlanta example. So let's say alias planted a bomb in the middle of the earth. Thank you, make the whole planet explode. And the scientists founded a wonderful you did a great job. Right. I heard about that on Alex Jones actually, is that right? This is possible. And, and scientists say it is likely to go off somewhere between twenty thirty eight and twenty fifty two and Trump says, let's stop studying that bomb after twenty forty you'd say that doesn't seem like a good idea because you might catch it in twenty thirty eight and twenty thirty nine. But if you stopped studying, it maybe it's gonna go up in the in the in the bigger portion. Right. And of course here climate change is not like a bomb it is more gradual, but it is happening all throughout. We're in the middle of now, it sounds like it's going to start at a later date, but it does get progressively worse and worse. And hence capping it at twenty forty is obviously done to make sure that you don't know, the full science and the full facts. And so I you know I had. Guest on the conversation a little while ago. And I asked him, you scientists, if there's any Republican scientists left, and I don't know that suggestion question, I don't know how you could be a scientist still remain Republican. It's got to be deeply embarrassing the whole party's against what you do. And so, okay, so are you proud? If you're a Republican sizes like that's right. We should stop doing science after twenty forty don't let anybody know what's going to happen, if that's your kind of science, maybe you should find another field and it's also amazing that. I mean, this is the party and the individual Donald Trump who says, I alone can protect you. I'm the only one that can save you from these threats. And yet, when it comes to gun violence, they don't let us actually track, how many deaths that are actually are. Now they want to make it so that we blind ourselves to what is going to happen with our climate. How are you going to protect us from something that you won't even look at you won't even acknowledge what's going on? And you're supposed to be our defender. And yet they maintain that reputation, but there was one other piece of news in the. Environment. This is perhaps less important on a global scale, but still pretty shocking. When you see the details the have released a notice on Thursday of last week, requesting public comment on its proposal to raise the maximum level allowed for a chemical used in literal rocket fuel, which is linked to thyroid problems to fifty six micrograms per liter. This is three times, higher than what the previously recommended as a safe level for drinking water now, what is important about that is not just that they are saying, you can have three times as much of it, but the before it was just a recommendation, it was not any sort of, like legal requirement, but this actually will be astonishing illegal requirement just three times higher. And if that sounds bad, it's actually worse, because the EPA is seeking comment on three other alternate options, setting the level to eighteen grams per liter..

And I want to preface it by saying that it is one of those things that I'm really really really really really really loving. And I think you will too. If you're especially if you're trying to eat healthier and lunches difficult because we're all running around. And I know nowadays there's a whole bunch of pasta alternative pasta options like Zoodles and care noodles. And let's be honest. They all taste like rhinos. It's awful. It just seems like rhino delicious pasta is nothing. I've never had anything that. I would go back to again. And again until now bird's-eye veggie pasta is a revelation a revelation, it tastes just like pasta. The. The firmness. It's nino. Sometimes it comes in a microwave St. that's like one of those steam bags CPAP pop it in the microwave for three and a half minutes. You pull it out your cut it open report in a bowl, and boom you have delicious spaghetti. And it's about three hundred calories, which isn't bad for a lunch and better. Nope. The carbs are low because it's not pasta. It's made from lintel. The pasta is made from lentils and zucchini. I don't know how they do it. I don't care how they do. It. All I know is is one of the best hell, quote, healthy things that I've eaten. Wow. That sounds so good. Oh, it is. I had the I add the spaghetti and marinara yesterday. And I it I mean like bar, and there are about three dollars a bag and the whole back because it says here, I'm looking at the calorie count in the carbs and the protein it says one in the fourth cups is serving size. So it's too. I'll be asked. So that's why I say three hundred calories. Three. Good bad. So. Yeah. Go on which isn't bad for a lunch. I mean, good Lord when you think of some some sandwiches, even healthy subways sometimes or seven hundred calories three hundred isn't bad for a lunch. No, especially when you don't really have to worry about a lot of carbs because it's all veggies, and you get a serving of vegetables. So I don't know. Title of forty four carbs. Eighteen grams of protein, so that's for if you eat the whole bag. Yeah. That's a lot of protein actually for something. That's a pasta. I would say that you know, the carbs are kind of comparable to other carbs. But it's the protein that's high. Yes. So. I really enjoyed it. It was fantastic. So and I'm getting a lot of people on the insta- going to target yesterday and getting us. So let me know how you like it. I don't have any have any stock.

Whoa. And you're like what the heck does that mean? All order. It sounds like what does the category changing snack? I think it's a snack. That is going to revolutionize a certain section of food in your life. Does that make sense? Or is that making it more confusing pressures, knack testi-, it's something that is so innovative in so different that I think that everyone's going to copy the hell out of it to said hell, but they're gonna copy this because it's so smart and so incredible. And solve so many problems that we have okay, I think I've built this up enough. The winner of this category is the true grill grill chicken breasts. So true grill is a company that I love these guys are incredible. There also out of New York, they make the best freshest tasting grill chicken. Agean -able and their chicken his all over supermarkets everywhere. But this new true grill brand is something that's rolling out now. So it's like Portuguese bed. Ashley, yes. It's a bag of chicken. So you can take this with you. I feel it was a big build up. No, we're just trying to get the full picture. So imagine like a little square. That's like three by four. Right. Like, I guess it's almost rectangular normal snack patch. Yeah. Like a pouch of chicken that is chopped and grilled. So you could open it up. It's already cooked. You can eat it straight out of the bag. You wanna try that comes in three flavors, by the way, you can eat it straight out of the bag as snacks or you. "Cycling during your youth may not affect the risk of heart disease in middle age or later. So there's hope that if we kind of stopped the cycling of these extremes that none of these things will happen to us, plus we don't know if any of these things are going to happen. Does. These are all just looking at data looking at research and looking at patient populations. Right? There's so many things that can kill you might not be the thing this l guess what this? Yeah, yeah. Okay. Next question. Well, let's talk about fiber. Oh, yes, fiber cooked. Can you the question is, what is it and talked to us about it? There's a bunch of diets out there that require it. Some don't even mention it, so I'll diet should have some sort of fiber because fiber is it's indigestible, meaning your body doesn't store it, so it doesn't contribute to any type of weight gain. It does perpetuate the idea of regularity and making more bell movements, which is a plus which also helps prevent colorectal disease and intestinal disease down the future. Another thing that's beneficial floors helps reduce cholesterol because it does cling to free floating question on how to excrete it. Another great thing. It also this is why it's good for weight loss is because it helps you stay full now by keeping that type of, let's say something not very dense with fiber. Let's say it's has brand it stuck in your stomach. You're not gonna be hungry. You're. Physically going to not have that hunger sensation. However, the idea behind fiber is it is wonderful and it's beneficial. But you have to be careful by taking into much because the body is not used to taking in as much roughage and as much grains as we really should be to be honest. So by increasing the fiber, you have to do it in a little bit more of a mindful incremental way without having major GI issues and drinking a ton ton water to push that that thing through you. If you have five or you'll and no water, you'll it'll be stuck in your constipated or you have bloating, you have GI pain. And do you have a type of distress that like I don't wish on anybody because it is painful, but if you are not drinking enough water, you need enough fluid to move your bowels. So that's how much fiber should zeal. Typically like the Americans are getting very low. Lower like between sixteen and eighteen grams, which is very low. But for the recommendations for women, we want to between thirty and thirty five men, thirty five thirty five grams. So like a slice of whole grain bread can have like five, six grams of fiber. Leafy vegetables can like broccoli or even kale like this can get you to these numbers higher like beans, apples, absolutely like berries. So these are very instrumental in keeping you full but also giving you foods, it's, you know you can find fiber and a lot of things. Yeah. Would you ever recommend like having a diet on the basis of five or eating? Yeah, I think that you can get fibers through many sources that are fruits and vegetables, but also like leafy lentils and lagoons and whole grain pasta and and through actual food sources and not looking at it as trying to find fibers through like, you know, undyed justifiable like Icke tasting flavors and profiles. So I also heard that like taking fiber supplements doesn't work at all because yeah, the same big pharma right there being on. Big up. I would love to talk about like supplements at some point because I feel like there are. So I feel like everyone in their mother is making supplements. Now, hockey on knows where I don't buy. I don't believe in don't. It's not. It's not even probiotics..

There's the streak of starts with three runs allowed or fewer the quality starts streak. The fact that his ERA though is where it is puts it in a category. That is extremely rare one point seven zero to give you some sense of baseball history here. Bob Gibson, had an ERA of one point one two in one thousand nine hundred sixty eight nineteen sixty eight was considered the year of the pitcher anyway show in an effort to take some of the advantage away from pitchers. They lowered the mound just to make it a little bit more of an even playing field. If you will show in one thousand nine hundred sixty nine those raise weren't quite the same in moving forward. We have not seen a season in the big leagues anywhere near one point one two. However Jacob two grams one seventy ERA is the third best in a single season. Since the mound was lowered in one thousand nine hundred sixty nine there were only two others that were better Twi Gooden's one fifty three ERA in nineteen eighty-five and Zach Ranki with a one sixty six ERA in two thousand fifteen there are three others that happened in strike shortened seasons. Greg Maddux in ninety four ninety five Nolan Ryan in nineteen Eighty-one those don't really count because of those years not being full in terms of playing one hundred sixty two games. So good in grant key to Guam the three best ER as since nineteen sixty nine in Jacob degrom finished it off today with his eight shutout innings. "She said in other words the province got it done but not by choice indeed quebec will be among the most conservative jurisdictions in the country when it comes to the sale distribution and consumption of cannabis quebec's approach must clearly contrast with ottawa and most of the country on the question of home growing the federal government wants to allow people to grow up to four plants at home but the government in canada is against the idea excuse me the government in quebec is against the idea the province is one of only three jurisdiction in canada that hoped to ban home grow manitoba and none of it are the other two though none of that as well recently walked back that plan last week the senate introduced an amendment to the cannabis act that would let provinces decide whether to allow home growing but the federal government rejected that change maybe if the people of quebec aren't happy with this legislation they should oh i don't know consider seceding which they've been trying to do for a really long time and it turns out we'll give you the polling numbers in quebec here in a moment the conflict could lead to a complex legal battle between quebec and ottawa the province has made it clear it has no intention of backing down shabwa said after her government's bill was passed quote we're ready to fight that's what people asked for unquote quebecers are worried that if the province opens the door to homegrown cannabis some people will grow too much for their own consumption and men be tempted to sell it while said earlier this year they also worry she said that teenagers might come across their parents pot and sample it as if they don't also come across the parents alcohol and maybe what to try what's this whiskey stuff tastes like what's this tequila stuff tastes like and of course the suggestion here is that you know it's as dangerous if not more so cannabis is more dangerous than than alcohol which is right they would probably say more dangerous even though how many people has overdosing on marijuana kills here right that zero her comments are reflected in the opinion polls which suggests that quebeckers tend to be more wary of marijuana than say sharing a bottle of wine while having a picnic in the park which is permitted in montreal contrary to quebec's reputation is the most libertine province in canada only forty six percent of quebecers are in favor of legalization compared to fifty eight percent and the rest of the country according to a poll conducted last year for radio canada so that's a significant difference there i always thought quebec was the most liberal area now they're just the most french quebec ranks near the middle of the tax that's exactly why i thought that when it comes to consuming marijuana the province consumes eighteen grams per capita compared with the wide average of twenty one grams and while the coal yard governments cannabis rules may be tough there weren't tough enough to win over the opposition parties who wanted even more restrictions the party had their car argued for and aren't they the secessionists the party quebecois i think so they argued for tighter controls on where cannabis can be smoked in public under the new law it will follow many of the same rules as tobacco while the coalition avenir quebec wanted the age limit raised from eighteen to twenty one so only quebec solidaire which holds three seats voted with the liberals next up will tell you a little bit more about the plans in quebec and compare and contrast to some of the other provinces here in the cbc report your calls and thoughts are certainly welcome and if we get the chance we'll also talk about uruguay's cannabis legalisation which has been in place for a few years more profitable running your business or doing bookkeeping doing your business of course but you want to keep your books so that you can maximize your tax savings right what if i told you that there's a person.

"In this week's edition of the after this month's edition of the american journal of clinical nutrition comes out every month and i eagerly awaited it's like uh you know comes of plain brown rapper uh you know like you're a you're a monthly decision of playboy and penthouse at i just i just uh run downstairs to mailbox and uh rabbit known as soon as was the postman puts it in my in my mailbox 'cause i'm uh thanks to see what they're going to say about nutrition so uh this month they had an article that speaks to the strategy of using egg whites in lieu of egg yolks four athletes who were trying to build muscle strength and they see here the concern around the classroom egg yokes has been so great that has spawned a complete line of egg white only products but as a result of that many of the yolk derived nutrients and protein in this study this month a group of researchers gave young men who performed about of resistance exercise with eighteen grams of protein same from on a protein either his egg whites were whites plus the yoke and what they found was quite interesting um the something called myo february protein synthesis translation of muscle building uh was stimulated by exercise in both groups but interestingly hole eggs stimulated musclebuilding to a greater degree than did on a nutritional equivalent amount of protein intake whites alone so what they're saying here's there's something about egged yokes that provides an advantage and what it may be it may simply be the fat that's in the whole legs that may be part of the solution naturally point to a recent study that shows that full fat milk is preferable to uh the equivalent of skimmedmilk milk the delivers the same mutter protein uh in terms of a building muscle and so uh this is an interesting study that suggesting that the there is some thing in the eggc yolk that may be responsible for musclebuilding and the morals story is that many whole foods or more than just the sum of their parts so the fats in foods in the nutrients or other components may be exerting regulatory rolls that affect muscle buildings so well you athlete sir i shooing the yokes quarterback in because they'll actually help you build muscles more i don't go week but i consume.
