What are you because because both of you are really active but a lot of people listening program might not know you sure. Well as you mentioned. Eric we've been friends for a long time and i had had it in my heart to move to new york city when it was getting it in my late thirties. And so i got a transfer with my job. Worked for deloitte and touche big big consulting accounting firm found myself in new york city only knew one person and she happened to be a mutual friend of yours and mine and over the course of the next couple of years Made friends with you and others and we were doing life together and then nine eleven happened. I should have been in the middle of the whole thing that morning. I went to work in those buildings every morning. This is the stuff i forget. I literally forgot. This is a huge story. And i completely forgot that you were supposed to be there that day. Yes yes and what's amazing to me is. I woke up that morning with laryngitis. Total aaron jarvis leading a meeting I was in marketing for the firm. meetings that led for my total of eight years being with the firm. And it's the only meeting in eight years. And i did these meetings all the time that they didn't have space in the world financial center to have the meeting. I tried for months to schedule it and finally a month or two before the partner i worked with said. Let's just go to hartford connecticut. We'll get we'll get an office up there and it was strange to me why we couldn't do it where we always did it But on the morning of nine eleven. I woke up with total aaron jarvis. I'm leading the meeting. And i'm thinking maybe i just won't go but the car service came at five thirty and i decided i'm going anyway so i got in that car. Service drove three hours in the car. Service up to hartford connecticut in the meeting leading the meeting at eight thirty when the phones began to ring at about eight forty five and like the rest of the world We found out what was going on. And i still remember so clearly what it felt like as we left the conference room and walk down to the other smaller room where there was a television What it felt like to be in a room with people who had loved ones and family members in those towers and seeing the one tower missing and then seen both towers missing and you know that the whole world was in shock. And i'm sitting there thinking by the grayson hand of god. I'm not there right now and Yeah it was. It was just now you are a speaker you both in ministry together do a lot of speaking. "Today. In haiti tropical depression grace will bring rains. That may cause flooding and mudslides. That will complicate rescue efforts following a massive earthquake on saturday tonight. Haiti is reeling after being struck by a new disaster the quake rocked residents of southwestern haiti into the streets. Buildings and homes collapsed into rubble and dust. so far. it's known that more than fourteen hundred people have died. The tremor claimed many hospitals that would have aided the injured and many churches that are at the center of haiti's social safety net as aid trickles in from abroad. Patients are trying to push their way into areas of shelter guarded by police. Eighty now fears. What may come from above as it reels from what happened below at a time when the political situation on the ground represented its own disaster. Poor haiti seems unable to catch a break. Sarah burke is the economists bureau chief from mexico central america and the caribbean. It's plagued for years by political turmoil poverty and natural disasters because of where it's located in the caribbean but of late. Those problems of seem to come in particularly quick succession most recently with this earthquake. And where and when did the earthquake habit so it was saturday morning around eight thirty. Am patient time and it was seven point two magnitude so that's pretty big. It's stronger than the seven magnitude earthquake that hit haiti and twenty ten. Which killed one hundred thousand people. This one was in the southwest of the country hundred kilometers west of port-au-prince the capital two sons. So spent an aid worker. At seth who actually lives in that area and he was listening to meditation music of all things when he felt his house. Moving side to side shoes so pamirs years to really say. He said he pulled out his earphones and almost fallacy ran down the stairs. I mean he described it to me as surfing a great wave. He went outside and did some initial damage assessment.

The Death of Kendrick Johnson

"On the morning of january eleventh. Jackie was at her son. School probably hoping he had just spent the night at a friend's house and his phone died and his friends phone died and his friends. Parents phone died and then all the phones on the block died. Because you would tell yourself anything to not think the worst and then you do whatever you can to find them at eight thirty a. m. jackie was in the school guidance. Counselors office at that same moment in the gym. A student was walking on top of a row of rolled up gym mats that were lined up vertically against the wall. Each matt stood almost seven feet high and three feet across making a sort of makeshift walkway. Why anyone was allowed to walk on a seven foot. High vertical rolled up. Jemat is anyone's guess. But in one of the matt's the students saw what looked like feet wearing hanes socks. She called some friends over and when they saw what she saw. One of them screamed lowndes. High head athletic trainer philip pipe. Low and one of the other coaches ran across the gym. Push the mat over on its side and a male's body tumbled out along with blood and vomit pipe blow-back away. The other coach told the students to leave the job at that moment. Back in the guidance counselors office. The phone rang the volume may have been tad too high because coming from the other end. Jackie could clearly hear someone say. They found a body in the gym. The guidance counselor rushed out of the room and jackie sat there probably frozen in terror because in that moment she just knew that body was the body of her son. Kendrick when police. Ems arrived on the scene. They confirmed that the body and the matt was indeed. That of kendrick. Johnson

Camp Anneewakee: A Legacy of Child Abuse and Labour

"The physical labor was forced upon the girls at the rock mark campus. Just as it was the boys in douglasville caravel. A new campus had to be built. the rest of our day after breakfast we would work from probably eight thirty or nine until eleven thirty. I believe and we did various projects and all of them were very physical. Sometimes we would work on landscaping projects working with heavy wheelbarrows rakes shovels digging holes post hole. Diggers the hardest project. That i remember doing my first summer. We were building a campsite at the top of a very high ridge. We were hauling two by fours and a frames and shingles and bags of mortar and cement so at age fifteen they would have us bend over and they would put a bag of mortar on our back which weighed forty six pounds or a bag of cement on our back which weighed ninety four pounds and we were to hold and carry that bad of mortar or cement bent over up a mountain in order to make the footings for the cabins. The girls in my particular group were fourteen and fifteen years old. Maybe succeed years old. And i can't imagine how hard it must have been for the girls that were twelve and thirteen and this was the middle of the summer in a terrible heat wave and even though we were in the mountains it was very very hot temperatures well into the nineties sometimes up to a hundred girls were getting heat exhaustion and heatstroke and they would discourage us from sitting down and taking a break and drinking water. They would give us very very short breaks. We were not allowed to sit down and start working.

The Trials of the Infamous Defense Attorney Frank Carson

"A sixty four year old attorney is making his way slowly up the concrete steps of the courthouse in modesto california. His body is wracked with pain. His heavy shoulders are hunched forward over the cane. He carries in his right hand from his left hand swings. A cracked black leather satchel stopped with his legal files. He's here at eight thirty on a monday morning. In june two thousand nineteen to do the unpopular work of defending the wrongly accused the thoroughly guilty and clients at every point in between he's made this trip thousands of times in better days. He swaggered the flamboyant terror of cops and prosecutors and judges. I haven't had any qualms about going after law enforcement for lying. If they fudge once they fudge it's open season. This is frank carson the most combative and controversial criminal defense lawyer in stanislas county. His kidneys are failing. His sciatic nerve is aflame and his morning. Vicadin hasn't kicked in the effort to get up. The steps makes him wince but he hates to give any satisfaction to his enemies. He has many for decades. He's defeated his law enforcement. Adversaries in court and raged against them in unapologetically venomous. He names names in a central valley legal community where the cast of characters is small and the memories. long really soon. Gershon your person. You know what it can't be any more personal to the guy that i'm representing and even if i had a doubt about my client's innocence by the time we started the trial usually by the end of it. I was absolutely convinced. I've had attorneys of god wrestler. Soul summer did now and he said. Oh frank you should seen me it was carson asked. I told them off and all that that isn't the point. The point is to win as he shuffles between courtrooms cops watch impasse and a chill seems to enter their mood to the law enforcement establishment. The man with the cane and the black leather satchel is something more malevolent than a clever lawyer. Who pushes boundaries. This is why carson will eventually make his way to the

Number two is calling in as well. And let's go to Donald out in Lewis, Donald good morning. Welcome. How are you today doing spectacularly happy new year to you and your all your beautiful listeners wonderful? I've got a question with all the money that is sent back to Mexico, and we intercept like, you know, truckloads Bolos. Why can't they use that money for the wall? They sent Tyron no. What happened? Yeah. All that money. I know what happens to the drugs and things they're disposed off by fire. But I don't understand why they can't use the money that they confiscate back going back into Mexico. To use for the wall that way Mexico with pay for it. Thank you very much for the call brilliant. There is some process for the money goes to a fun. That's us to do more more cetera et cetera. It's also held for a period for. Evidence. Right. Right. And so it's not a liquid and when it's not needed. That's exactly what happens it goes into a revolving law enforcement foot now, would you divert that to pay for the wall never going to happen? The other agencies would not want to be money understand your point, Donald we appreciate your call very much. And and that's the other part about it. I mean, we have a four trillion plus dollar annual budget five billion really are rail project is twice that. So it's not a money issue at all. And I guess I don't know if you've may have talked about this already, but. They, you know, California does have one of the best walls in the country. And that would be located where around Pelosi's. How are you? So it's like he should see you know, what Nancy and Chucky take down that wall. Don't have that border between California and San Diego. And and all that. And we take it down. Why do you have that? If you really truly believe because we're they're talking about mostly as Texas Arizona where there are no physical barrier the barrier. Very nice. But you think about it California. Actually does have a very good wall Ray so to get into Tijuana from San Diego, we were business meetings. And I didn't go group went, but I understood what you had to get through you had to have all your goods. And if you didn't there was no getting into route, the other part, it was a fortification surrounding that particular station, and I n beyond so having the barrier does work. You're right. It does. But again, we get back to the whole fundamentals of this. None of that is relevant. I. Thing and deflections stuff, so. There's no logic. We're trying to stop the illegal immigrants illegal. Everybody wants imigrants. Nobody's ever said anything about immigration to this country. It's built a country, but we want it legal. That's the only thing that. And I can't believe the fight against that. I don't know what the number is. But it's the three hundred thousand or three million that do come in legally every year that are our grad legal legal. Yeah. I forget what the number of check it on the break for you. Don't know if it matters when we already have twenty four million illegal illegal ones that are that do come in every year that are signed off legal writing a man, you will have you. "On NewsRadio eight thirty K H v h. Where to jump into a little bit of a triage list for our good friends. It might be you that might be buying sullied her investing. But before we before we get there reminders, here's there's a ton of good solid real estate professionals that are in our community. Absolutely, no doubt. The differentiation has to why somewhat should pick up the phone. Go online contact you and your team. The differentiation between what you do and others. What would that be? You know, I think it's not just us. But anytime anytime, you're interviewing any agents at all you wanna they wanna see what their experiences, and the cells that they've had things like that. Because that's that's important. It's like this. If you were going to have, you know, Dr interview, and you wanna make sure, hey, I've got to do their surgery or whatever it is you want to make sure that you're you always check their backgrounds their experience on it. The time that they've been in the industry, and this kind of similar same worth for the CPA or anything else. You wanna go and make sure depending on how complicated your taxes? Are you wanna make sure that you are getting the professional and the experience the sweet or have difficulties and problems later on? So I mean, basically I've been almost thirty years now in the industry and coming up to nineteen twenty years soon in with help yourself. So there's definitely some big time experience there the number of transactions that we've had Aaron the thousands literally. And with that comes a lot of experience of knowing what clauses and phrases and and certain contingencies that you need to put into a contract to protect your client. Whether it's a buyer or a seller. So I think that's obviously probably the most important is really to do your homework on the agent that you're going to select an accompany. And you know, you're going to go online and you'll see the big companies, and they'll be all kinds of reviews. Some good some bad. You'll see small companies. Some everybody has an opinion. So don't go by that necessarily. It's really about sitting down in front of that person talking with them getting a feel because again, it's very personable type of relationship. If you're selling a property there's going to be a lot of communication a lot of things going on between the time you get an offer. And then during your escrow process, you have to have that personality with that person not to say that the next person that you spoke to is any better or any worse but times personality, and you're gonna get nobody gets along with everybody. So, you know, just just be aware of that you have to really feel comfortable, and then of course, with our model that there's a extra extra perk or plus the next the savings as opposed to the traditional commission base. We're just charged a set fee, and you know, that that's an additional bonus. So to speak but other than that, it's a personality. I I would just say it's a personality thing love it. You're someone is selling right now. What are the top two three things you want to tell a seller today? What should be top of mind with them? They should call three seven seven twelve.
